:) Good day today?
hi all any nurses in da house tonight?
i had nurse training for 2 hours today at work does that count? :P
just one or twenty...lol
:P
Wow, I've never seen a grid quite like this, 2/5ths unsusable.
top row grey!
hahahaha
lovely day today, capped by a swim in the sea and friends gathered on the beach -- why I live here.
hi cos, jill, TO and diz :)
but now Imust go and attend to kitchen chores -- back soon.
Oh that sounds nice. I havent gone swimming for years and now every Tuesdays I have to! (hi kate!, bye jill!)
hi kate and all. sitting here waiting for second allergy med to kick in
hi Kate -- btw, I don't play games on FB.
well we are either once was, am still, and gonna be's. which kind of nurse do you want?
hahaha... my top's gray too... and i'm not talkin' about the grid.... going to the hairdresser soon :)
how can i tell a bite from a hive?
a bite will have a "center" and a hive won't
oh we learned that today!
aha, a bite has a smallish mound in the middles of a reddened area, a hive looks either like nettle rash, or can be a large welt-like area, very red and hor
hi jill.. i know you don't... have i accidentally spammed you? if so i apologise... part of the problem i am having with intermittent connections at home... i click on something and 5 minutes later it does whatever is in the spot i clicked on previouly.. terribly sorry.
a hive will also turn white completely when you press the skin around it and the bite will have a little red dot (the center bite) when you do the same
ty. i don't remember all mosquito bites having centers unless i scratched them, i will have to look more closely.
nbt, nbs
I've been a water baby since age 3. Won my first diving prize (a little silver spoon I still have, engraved with the date--1931) at age 4.
wtg cray
poor TO.. the agony of the allergy.. commisertions :0
TO, do you have any personal insect repellant around? use that on the area, if the itch goes, it's a bite.
just back from festival and had a hive on the way up and def have one bite and one unknown now
and have 8 worfs to go
there is something in the repellants which neutralises the "sting"
Kate -- don't worry -- I think FB does this randomly to please their advertisers -- I get lots of game requests I'm pretty sure the friends didn't send me.
Lt. Worf?
wish i had my baby heirlooms :(
sneak attacks, granny. and we now have tiger mosquitoes
TO, you can use it after the bite to get relief.
granny, the unknown is at the corner of the eye so i am loath to use anything. I have cortisone vream and "of"
cream and "Off"
I nixed the itch of mosquito bites recently by applying AfterBite followed by a deodorant while tha AfterBite was still damp. A friend on the beach today recommended Witch Hazel.
any chance you have occular antihistamine drops at hand TO? otehrwise, you'll just have towait for the allergy meds to kick in...
hmmm, so must have something which is okay near eyes...paste of sodium bicarb.
witch hazel is a wonder. the location is awful and i think i will have to suffer. Until the claritin takes effect. ty or the help
Hi all :)
i find afterbite works very well..
Now I must go and do kitchen stuff and take a tylenol for the backache!
i sprayed with cortisone nasal spray earlier
I must go to bed. Day 5 of training comestoo early tomorrow GN all
AfterBite by itself didn't work for me
happy dreams, cos!
night cos
Sleep well cos :)
do you have anything faster-acting than claratin TO? like a benadryl... or even a cold med thaqt has an antihistamine in it? claratin, reactine etc., don't act very quickly... they build up in the blood over time.
night cos, sweet dreams
FWs
no benadryl. i cannot be sure it will wear off by the am ty
good night cos, sleep well for your new job :)
congratulations diz!!!!!!!!
ty
WTG DIZ!!!!
Congrats Diz :0
last word was mo 7

benadryl is usuallly 4-6hours max. effectiveness... unless you have to be up ultra-early....

oh, dear, crayola. hope it wasn't your nose on the keyboard
i have 20 left. :(
lol rose
don't laugh, hun. i often go in to mother mac, she is out cold, sitting in her chair, with her face inches from the floor.
I can relate
and when i wake her, saying, why don't you go to bed, mum, she says, i was just resting my eyes...yeah right
is mother mac still on respite rose?
heh
no, kate. she came home last monday.
oh, too bad! you didn't get much of a break, with the birth of braxton....
it never rains but it pours, right?
don and i did get out of town twice, and did and saw some wonderful things.
So when are you going to visit, Rose?
fw
Congrats joso :)
wtg joso
presuming you mean my latest grandkiddie, i am holding off to allow them space to adjust to a new babe in the house. all is well, have spoken to son, braxton continues to put on weight
WTG JOSO!!!!
ty ty ty all
Yes, that's what I meant - I knew you were holding off but wondered if you had a time in mind - like the weekend perhaps. Good news that Brax continues to put on weight.
yeah 200gms in 4 days...told son to back off with the steak and chips. lol. son says things are still a little hairy. they have to feed braxton every 3 hours. they must be worn out.
I bet they
they''re tired!
thank heavens the eldest boy is 17...he is being a real trooper, and stepping up to the mark, and helping out where he can.
sounds like a pain, but so good that he has a healthy appitite, especilly after his troubles.
That's really good. and younger sibs? Is Deacon a sib or cousin? Are they accepting of new baby?
i had the same scenario with my first. had to do it on my own, as first hubby had epilepsy which caused him to fit just as he was wakening. like i was going to let him get up and handle a new-born.
That must've been hard for you but you got through it OK and the difficult times will get easier.
Zac and Blake are from a previous relationship of lucinda's. deacon, claudia and braxton are all full siblings.
glad to hear he is gaining weight.. is he home yet? congrstulations joso!!!!!!
So are deacon and claudia OK or are they jealous?
i know, liz, and i can't really help out, i don't have the equipment, if you catch my drift.
LOL!
<smirk>
deacon is ear to ear cheesy grins, claudia is only 3, still absorbing it all, is my guess
That's cute - proud big brother!
I'm sure they'll be fine.
<does a fireworks po4/5 (last word)>
Can I have a clue for the ph 6 / 7 pls. I have the gh one and what's the 3rd?
congrats cray
Congrats crayola :)
i was wondering if lucinda could express a couple of feeds, then i could go over and give her a break...
Taking the the other 2 out for the afternoon might also give her a break.
ph6, short for one who takes ph5s
liz, abbreviation for a holiday snap, ph + h**, not cold + **ee, exclamation of disappointment
OK thanks! Never would've guessed that one! I had the ph5!
liz, ph6/7 is slang for person who takes pictures
ph7 plural
lag...
Strange little grid!
tried that liz, but i think lucinda just wants her family around her all the time. trying to not be the nagging mother-in-law
I only noticed one word that reached out to the right 2 collums
yeah, joso, that wretched se6....drove me crazy, looking for it
OK - so I guess it's just a matter of being patient. Finger tapping!!!!! Nail chewing and other activities to pass time!
I don't have that word yet joso - all my words are firmly in the 3 left hand columns!
don't forget chogging...*giggle*
Thats a given!
I don't hink I've ever seen two full columns next to each other greyed out from the beginning.
Gosh i need to put my brain to bed. Night all, and good luck.
Hah! just found the se 6 - thanks.
Night crayola. Sleep well )
night, cray. hope you have sweet dreams
ok, thats 2 words, mi4 was mine, I solved se6 by useing a letter twice, lol
yay liz
Oh yes, have the mi 4 too!
19 left!
I also got the se 6 by using the e twice!!!!
no, you dill, se then diagonally down right
I know now - I checked when the word was accepted!!!!
I love that expression! So Aussie!
yes, I see it now gran, of course we couldn't use the e twice, just thought we did
glad i didn't offend, liz. my father either called us muggles or dillberries. lol
Your father was way ahead of JK Rowling then!!!
Def no offence! I love Aussie slang!
Well I should try to sleep, even if i don't feel sleepy, g'nite all
yeah, when that court case was going on, i laughed myself silly. it was a loving name in our family since the 1960's
Sleep well joss :)
joso - sorry :)
sleep well, mate. hope it is a sweet night, joso
np liz
poof
niters joso :0

Thanks Rose. I love jigsaws - time to start a new one!
Firworks!
Fireworks even!
Hey all :) I'm on my last word. Can I get a clue for the se 6/21 por favor?
boat, se then go diagonally down to the right, means a set of seven
se6 a group of 7
{{haz}}} long time no see. how are you, hun?
Hello,rose, I'm fine.
all good, then. did you see braxton arrived on the 23rd july, yes i know prince george was born then also.
I know you've been in the wars. I'm still waiting for arthrodesis to be in the grid, remember when you were coping with that?
Yes, I knew you were a granny again. He's a big boy!
*groan* don't remind me...but the body beautiful ain't what it used to be...still...compared to some, i am in roses...
sure is, and home, and putting weight on, at the rate of 100gm every 2 days.
I'm glad I don't get weighed on a daily basis.
ditto, lol. probably would wear out the scales..
I can just see the scales mentally bracing themselves at my approach.
funny, mine cringe and cower under the bath, whimpering
We should show them pictures to prove we could be worse.
rofl...
how many words today please

tjh
thanks Haz
No problem.
even tjo I am a lurker ai get quite amused by your stories so ty
glad to make you smile, pink
ty conversely feel bad for the trials and tribulations people have too
How long have you been playing, pink?
actually since 2007 I was a member but when I switched to scrabble forgot all my info here and dr god coulnd not find me, need to just rejoin
i was like tazpink or similar
pink, you will find that is a loving supportive network. i have benefited...as have many others. we also have found new friends, and even get to meet them personally sometimes.
Ah, so you've been around for a while.
yes it is a kind bunch and i recall many familiar names from years ago
morning everyone, ((((Haz))))
lol babble has actually helped my scrabble game and boggle
Hello, Katie. Sorry, was answering the phone.
How are things?
Things are fine. I'm enjoying a good summer and all is well.
That is very good to hear. It has been a lovely summer hasn't it
It's been great. I like when seasons behave like they're supposed to.
Plus I have a boxed set of the Olympics so I can dip back into the memories of last year.
it seems like years since we had a good one, I think it was worth the wait.
I loved the Olympics but am currently very into the Ashes so it has filled the void that would otherwise be there!
I know, so many summers of drippiness and clouds.
I had no great expectations of the Olympics but loved them. I think I watched Twenty Twelve and thought it was all going to be disaster but it was wonderful
The relief of that opening ceremony when you realised that we actually might not embarrass ourselves as a nation was great.
hey katie
Hi granny :)
I know! I think we're too fond of imagining the worst but it was great.
have either of you seen sarah or crafty lady, lately. am missing them so much.
No, granny, I haven't seen either of them.
to be honest I'm not on much anymore so haven't see either
Are you not in touch via e-mail either, rose?
Morning Dear Friends
okay, will persist in my emails...i'll try one of sarah's girls. the older generations may be too busy.
morning puglet
hey up pugs...{{hugs}}
Good morning, puglet.
Hey all and hugs back Rose
I'd better go and get on with some work. Have a good day all :)
good morning all
bye Katie!
Bye, Katie. Good morning, sprite.
Hugs Sprite and morning
Haz! How nice to see you again. I hope you are well? How is your dog?
I'm well and the dog is splendid.
hi pug and rose :)
am happy to hear it. Missed seeing you here.
He's a bit of a lap-warmer which I was never used to before.
No, I've been babbling but keeping my head down in chat.
Thank you Haz and Rose for the se 6/21 clue :) Fireworks :)
aw how sweet. A real cuddler!
wtg boat, and hi :)
Well done, boatierra!
Hi sprite :)
hello, dear friend, did answer your email. did it help?
WTG BOAT!!!
rose! *hugs* Yes, so much. Am composing an answer as we speak :D
ahhh, good. xoxox dearest
Rose you feeling better and Sprite was yesterday better for you
yes pugs, although the body has definitely started to collapse, the spirit is fi5ing back.
Iam glad your spirit is coming back. Have you gotten to ge visit the baby
pugs, son and his wife need time to adjust to having a newborn babe at home. i have been messaging them, but no direct verbal contact. the poor darlings are up every 3 hours to feed braxton. he is now gaining weight. i try to give them the space they need.
am glad your spirit is getting back up to speed, rose, and that braxton is home. Yes, a newborn is a challenge.
Understand very well what you mean.Sounds like hes making progress at last
pug, how are you today? I am good, just a bit worried about some health issues that came up in the blood tests. Challenges never stop, do they?
Oh no Sprite--hope it isnt anything too bad. Iam good--wishing for some rain though.
no, nothing life-threatening, nothing like that. Don't worry :)
glad you are good. You can have some of the rain that is falling here. Although I am happy the heat seems to be over for now.
thanks for the offer!lal--glad its nothing real threating. My sunflowers just started blooming and they look so pretty
oh I love sunflowers. And when they are done, you can lie down the heart of the flower on a table or feedhouse, and birds will flock to your garden!
these flowers have tall stalks with several flowers on each stalk
oh pretty! Never seen sunflowers with more than one flower per stalk.
A farmer near me grows a field of sunflowers for his birds he raises and its so pretty when they are all bloomed out
wow a whole field!
the flowers are not as big as those that has just one head
and its funny to see them all facing the sun
oh yes and following it around all day
I kind of picture us all facing our maker like that when the time comes.Just fields of people looking towards the son
oh dear... I hope for something a bit more divers though :)
Oh Iam sure it will be
strange grid this is, with only 3 active columns
Have a little look at a blog I've discovered. It's just a drawing a day, but done by a mother with young children. I love the style and she's obviously blessed with a sense of humour. www.doodlemum.com
will do Haz and thank you for sharing
You're welcome, hope you enjoy it. They say a picture paints a thousand words and somehow she manages to capture the essence of a situation with a few strokes of the pen. A lovely talent to have.
very nice, thanks Haz. So recognisable in many ways.
And now I must be off to supervise doggy adventures upstairs. The lap-warmer has sprung into life.
Toodle-oo!
enjoy your day and your doggy, Haz. I am glad to have seen you!
bye Haz
have a good day, haz. and lovely to see you again
Rose do you work jig puzzles online or the old fashion way
both, pugs, but mainly online.
I love jigsaws the oldfashioned way. Problem is where to keep them while working on them.
when we were at home-we had a puzzle out on the game table most of the time
oh how lovely. The bigger the better for me.
havent done that in along time due to space.I cant believe how much those things cost now a days
lol, i have a jigsaw puzzle board. it is a board of plywood, with an edge on three sides. the fourth side is open to allow me to slide a plywood sheet in, to enclose the jigsaw, and keep iot in place.
and the small town we lived in we were always trading with folks in the town
oh that is brilliant, rose.
oh I bet thats nice
did your hubby build it for you Rose
much better than going to finish said jigsaw, and find out the latest toddler has eaten pieces.
yes, pugs. and it works terrificly
oh yes! Or dog.
I always loved the round ones. I havent tried any of the stand-up kinds
we had one of those globe ones, but it was not fun. All pieces were numbered!
hmmm, neither have i pugs...
oh wouldn't it be lovely to meet someday, and do a HUGE jigsaw together?
oh yeah!
mind you, i have one with a picture on both sides...you think you have finished, but turnit over, and alas...not the true picture.
be like a quilting in the old days-lol
never seen one like that Rose
yeah!!! sounds like a great idea
would be awesome. A true holiday.
and all the inner pieces were the same shape...
I bet that would be really hard
omg rose, that is not really fun. For me, part of the fun is picturing the piece I need and searching for it on the table. By shape.
lol, was a challenge...but not as bad as the one i gave my brother. it was a picture of a plate of spaghetti. he said it took him 3 months to finish.
oh evil! I have seen one with dalmatians. A big one. I think that would be fun to make.
giggle! I bet. Kind of like the one I got my sister.A puzzle of puzzle peices
oh btw rose, did you get around to watching that youtube vid I linked yesterday?
the things we do in order to be amused
a puzzle of puzzle pieces? Omg that IS evil :D :D
no sprite, would it be too much of a problem to let me have it?
not at all
thanx dear heart
I would love to have the skill to quilt. But Ive always been the tomboy type and I preferred the outdoors to inside
this is the one: http://tinyurl.com/p42pjch
fireflies
my eyes keep going to the two columns thats has no words-lol
I did the same thing. So weird to have two dead columns.
good for you Sprite and I bet Rose has fireworks too
rose is watching the vid, i think. It is SO funny.
showed it to my love and he had tears from laughing, lol.
Ive never done youtube and Iam not too sure what it is
Iam not up on all this tech.-lal
rofl. sprite, all too true
pugs, just type in the tinyurl address from sprite. it's hysterical
ok
darn, my beautiful blue-tooth purple mouse just died. it only needs new batteries. back to the drab black one, i'm afraid.
it is hilarious, isn't it rose :)
aw, sorry about your mouse. Feed it!
yeah, to the non-existent cat, perhaps??
my favorite part is where he is at his doctor's and tells about his problem, and then goes :"What problem... and how are you??"
*giggles* That is the joke here... when someone asks us if we are willing to feed the cats, we say ofcourse... just tell us to whom.
*giggle* oh yeah
I went to the site-it says I need to download the tool bar (is this the right one)
no, that is not correct, don't download anything!
just copy this link in the url bar of your browser: http://tinyurl.com/p42pjch
thats what I did and it wants me to download a toolbar(which I did) so now I need to remove it.I will have to go back and find where i went wrong
oh dear, am so sorry!
nothing that I cant undo--dont worry about it
It gives me new learning-lol
ok, am relieved. Well, the other way is to go to the youtube website, and then in the search bar type "Senior moments".
I hope you can figure it out. *hugs* to you all and have a peaceful evening and a wonderful day.
okay Sprite--will do later
hugs back and wishing you the same
Iam leaving too Rose and wishing you all thats needed for a peaceful sleep and wonderful day ahead
aww thanx pugs, hope you have a good night.
from the sublime to the ridiculous!

hi bichon!
Help, someone shrunk the grid
so far I haven't used any of the letters in the two right columns at all
No doubt.
there's at least one word that uses letters in those columns... ;o)
hmmm...
beyond my ken
i am done....
bbl...
hello, good evening
mo7/32 is the two letter plural of the 5/12 before it
good morning, all -- just diving in
Our mo5/12 is "always have a plan B"
Onpaki, is that the Singapore flag?
stuck with 20 to go -- will break to get a cuppa
Is there really a word which uses letters from the last two columns?

I didn't try it because everyone has said it won't work
not yet, phae... will wait a bit and see if I can get through this listless. down to 6
i don't understand the ph6 extend the picture for more of a picture clue.
knowing it would not work I tried it anyway just to be rejected
need 3 each of s, p and m - you wouldn't think they would be that hard to find!

no just that one
it is apparently a whole alternate word for measurement of resistance usually oh4.
which is an anagram of it.
yes, physics term... means the opposite of its oh counterpart. always thought they were the most clever names for a property that the reverse property is spelled in reverse
george takei had this funny picture on his fb page the other day of an ohm meter thing that's display read "FUTILE" - loved it.
oh3 is resistance, mh3 is conductance (reciprocal properties)... who says physicists have no humor ; )
ha! hursh - cute
oh thanks for clarifying that it is conductance, somehow i had gotten the mistaken impression that they were BOTH resistance.
are there any sh 5's?
2 sh5
no, reciprocals, not the same

the smell of the fermenting fish and the sight of the flies adding to the flavor still remains after all these years
so far I have noticed only 2 words that reach into the last 2 columns; mi4 and se6. has anyone else noticed others?
do not think so, joso ... remember the plural of the reciprocal ohm, if you do not already have it ...
i tend to cover things so the flies essence is absent

A little joke from The Smarty Pants Club : D
wow, twisty little mind you have there molly, you should write murder mysteries
Not my mind. I didn't name the terms.
I wonder who first thought of spelling ohm backwards for conductance, some spoilsport is promoting the substitution of siemems for it now.
hi all!
Hi Cos, it's a ghost town in here.
figures
Small grid. All the hi x 10 and clue requests x 10 and the tyvm's x 10 are over. How was your day at work?
ah forgot its small! good. tomorrow is last day of training and I have overtime on Sunday! (i dont get paid or overtime but i can use the hours so i can get paid over christmas break. I work 5 hours sunday and that gives me 7.5 hours of comp time for the holidays)
ansd with my position I will be getting a lot of comp time so that will help during breaks
That's great. It's nice that they do that with overtime hours. A lot of companies don't.
I like it. I prefer that because I am only a 9 month staff. Comp time will help with summer break too even it's not much. Better than nothing.
People who work for school systems seem to prefer things that way. Unless they are 12 month employees that get paid all year long. That is the good life.
Teachers get to choose 9 or 12. If they choose 9 their checks will be bigger because if they go with 12 their checks will be deducted for summer pay. Maintenance staff and admin staff are all 12 months. Lucky lol
Yep. But teachers with nice, padded 10-12 salaries get to spread things out over 12 months, 2 of which they don't work. Not a bad gig.

I don't know if Minver has done a story clue for this grid but you could make a rhyming story clue for it. It rhymes and chimes so well along the way.
molly if you're still here--most teadhers work long hours for low pay and most when they have " time off" are rerequired to take classes, etc. I worked almost around the calendar. Now my daughter is.
