CHEESE CRISPS

1 cup butter
8 oz (250 g) pkg Imperial Cheese (sharp cold pack cheddar cheese)
dash of salt
½ tsp Tabasco or cayenne pepper (or more)
¼ tsp Worcestershire sauce (or more)
1½ cups flour
4 cups Rice Krispies

Cream butter and cheese together. Add seasonings. Beat in flour, then add rice krispies. Mix well. Shape into balls. Press down with a fork which has been dipped in cold water. Bake at 350º for 12-15 minutes, until lightly browned. Makes about 4 dozen (12 dozen bite size). Freezes well.

Enjoy!

PS -- the batter will be very stiff when flour is added.

I've decided the compiler of Enable is a prurient Jewish Scot who is a mining engineer with various medical conditions including dyslexia, and some musical leanings, who has travelled widely and collected a large variety of coins and currencies as well as sundry snippets of several languages, but is slightly out of date about cyberspace. S/he must have had some legal activities too and a penchant for using archaic language.

I'm a Britamericanadian, i.e. an overseas Brit born in Peking (now Beijing), China, who has also lived in the UK, the USA and Canada where I am now a citizen. I lived in Shanghai until I was 12, then in England until moving to the USA (NYC) in 1940. I obtained my BSc Pre-Med in 1947 at McGill University in Montreal, and married young in the Montreal area. I have one wonderful son with a marvellous wife, and two great grownup grandchildren. Used to be a hospital vitamin assay lab worker, pastel portrait painter, commercial artist, and a Great Dane breeder and exhibitor in conformation and few obedience shows, as well as a writer and published author of a book about the development of the Great Dane from early days to recent ones. This book may be ordered directly from me, and the title is:
The Time Traveller: The Development of the Great Dane. (See the book's cover in my Flickr photo album, "Danes.") I no longer have any Danes, but had a longhaired Calico cat until May 12th, 2008 (when she was nearly 19).
I was widowed in 1996, and keep myself busy in BC as a library volunteer, with several other jobs. Besides Babble, my other addictions are: jigidi (online jigsaws), Coronation Street, duplicate bridge, watching the birds and deer here, staying up late and sleeping in, etc.

Envoi to verses written by my dad when interned by the Japanese in Hong Kong, 1944:

And whether Life at Death doth cease
Or then gains fulness by release
I do not and I cannot know;
For Knowledge thus far does not go.

But beauty, Truth, the Good, and Love
Our human life are far above,
Existing independently
Of Mankind and his destiny.

Here then we know at least one Truth --
That if a person loves in sooth,
That love can never pass away,
Come Death, Destruction, or what may:
It takes its place with God's decrees
Amongst th' Eternal Verities.

And so, dear Jill, my love for you
Shall ever live, strong, deep, and true.
