Hi Wor
Hi worzel
Morning Kate and pug (((hugs for all))) xx
having a good day, thanx. you and the little lady?
Morning Bilt xx
We are fine. Di is asleep and I don't blame her - it's only 7am here but my body clock has got into a 6.45 am rutt lol
bbl, happy babbling :)
And may I just say I am thinking of all those down under today who fought or lost somebody at war on Anzac Day xx
thanx wor. we have watched services just about all day, here in our own town, in the nation's capital, in gallipoli, and in france.
Yes, I admire the fact that certain nations have an "all wars" remembrance day. We don't have one, as such, here in the UK, although November 11th technically incorporates all wars it was intended as a first world war memorial
see you later Biltong xx
yay nbt - blimey I'm getting good at this lark
May I please have a clue for co7-52? Thanks
bye bilt !
not got that one yet peach x
Thanks anyway, worzel.
co7, co + female name + spouse who is no longer one's spouse
ooo ty mum xx
Thanks much, Rose.
me has the feeling the ex9 is a compound word . . .
no it's not - i just found it lol
Nope
found it too worz!
Mum have William and Katherine been anywhere near you on their tour?
Night..need to rest..
nn ruru sleep well xx
niters ruru :)
night Ruru
no, worzel. just about eveywhere else, but not to my state.
well how bloody cheeky of them!
Sweet dreams, ruru.
I thought they were having tea with you granny?
nice couple, although she's too thin for my liking. It's one thing cutting a good figure, but no, she looks borderline annorexic to me
ooo ex9 IS a compound word!
bbl
and, of course, everyone here is an exemplar of perfection.
but, of course o-o ;) hi there!
Hi OO
tou che 0-0, fair point well made. All I meant was that before she married into "The Firm" she looked bonny and well - now I fear she looks like she's been "chiselled" as seems the norm for a lady entering that family
any hints for the lone e please.... needed for nbt/nbs! please and thank you :)
ei4 - think of duck feathers minus end letter
kate, almost the full duck
good job you didnt mix your letters there Mum lmao xx
*giggle*
im soooo naughty teehee
ty worz, i tried the duck feather, but forgot the truncation :( nbt/nbs now!
good girl, well done xx
good on granny... evil wench that she is, i'll bet she typed that on purpose.... lmao!
phantom diverticulitis
time to take a bit of a break, bbs
yes - i'm away for a bit to get coffee see u in about 10 mins xx
good morning all :)
{{huggles}} spritey
*hugs rose* Hello my darling, how are you today?
morning Sprite
*hugs pugs* Hello dear friend, and what about you? Just read your email and it seems like another busy day.
i'm fine, thanx, sprite. and you, dear?
Iam fine and yes later on---She leaves out in the morning
when is your friend coming--today?
wow good to hear, rose! No ill effects from the driving and shopping then, good! I am fine. Eating my morning apple and getting ready to prepare for my friend's arrival tonight.
yes this evening, pugs. Either around dinnertime or a hour or two after.
everything still at peace
yes, pugs, lol, thank God.
I will cross my fingers that it stays so too for you-lol
so close to that old police series dr4net.
hehehe from your mouth and fingers to God's ear, pugs
proud of both my girls. you are fantastic!
so are you, rose :) We are the turbo trio.
thanks Rose as you are as well
well let's tell it like it is...a mutual admiration society...lol
and why can't the gr8 not be past tensed?
lol rose! But with reason :D
double negative, sorry...
lolol. sprite. don says silly woman is a double negative...i don't understand what he means.
tell him he is wrong and that it is a contradictio in terminis.
roflol....okay, do i have to put my teeth in to say it?
omg am sooooo not going there, lololol. Eh... you can say it any way you please
LOL
all here waiting with abated breath
Women are wonderful, aren't they? I mean, reading magazines on the loo lol - I just been in my convenience and it's like a newsagents down the side of the pan!
it is the only place where women can read reasonably undisturbed, actually.
Maybe so, but why do they complain when men disappear into the garden shed for an hour? Mind you, we're probably not reading the same type of magazine . . .
sorry, squirrel in the form of a later anzac service in turkey.
spanking the one-eyed monkey does not count as reading
I was thinking more of car magazines, you dirty devil!!!! Well, I've gone all red now - sure I don't know WHAT you mean pmsl
what's this about a squirrel mum?
australia... where most squirrels live per person.
and good morning Sprite xx
it's joso's fault. he claims my attention is always wandering because a squirrel runs past.
hello worzel
do you have grey and red squirrells or just one type?
considering rose's love for them, I think they come in green, red, pink-and-green-striped and several other varieties.
wor, the only squirrels i have ever seen were in a zoo. we may have wild ones, but i have never seen them.
Have you guys heard from Joso---He was to start exercising after op
*cough cough liar cough cough*
server must be fitting again - me words not going in
met him briefly last week, pugs, and he was doing very very well. Felt much better after the op.
roflol....
*giggles*
sorry, my chog died. I now understand your excitement at seeing a real life squirrel. We have grey and red ones here in the UK, very few red ones, but plenty of grey ones and they're pretty easy to spot. Lots of people think of them as vermin, but I don't agree
and don't think the liar comment went unnoticed heehee. Why shake hands with the milkman when I have finest cream laying next to me? xx
we have mostly red ones here. At Nijmegen University, there are lots and lots of them and they eat from your hand.
oh, the liar comment was for rose not seeing any squirrels
i often feed the swans on our local canal by hand. They are surprisingly gentle
oh, sorry sprite x
swans are gentle until they have young ones. Then they turn into those paranoid protectors. Kinda cute as long as you don't rattle them
Just seen on the news that a Virgin Airways flight heading to Bali has been hijacked. Let's all hope that ends safely x
we have plenty of squirrels here--all grey and I love watching them play like kittens
oh, dear. the royals have just left. they weren't flying virgin were they?
awesome, pug :)
sounds like an oxymoron to me - royals and virgins
I still cant believe they have not found one thing from that other plane thats vanished
they did, I think, pugs. In the ocean.
makes me smile when you see all the conspiracists - "hijacked by aliens" "stolen by Elvis" "eaten by giant rabbit".
pugs, the searchers have a fairly good idea where it is. the weather has been foul, and thet can't get down to confirm it.
it will be nice for the families to have closure on that as bad as it is
worzel, where did you hear about the hijacking?
of course, finding Elvis's fingerprints takes it beyond the conspiracy level
indeed, pugs
on the news about 5 minutes ago. It was a flight from Brisbane, too!!!
pugs, Indian Ocean near Perth, Australia, is where the maleisian plane has crashed.
I heard all that but I hadent heard they were for sure it was there
It appears the plane has arrived in Bali, so the hijack attempt must have been succesful. I'm assuming they will keep the passengers as hostages until their foul demands are met. It must be bloody terrifying to be in that situation
I'm not good with geography. Isn't Bali off the north of Australia?
me either Wor--I got to look up almost everything
it is part of the archipelago which links australia with south-east asia.
don't worry pug - we'll both sit in the silly corner together lol xx
that is one of my favourite words of all time - archipelago
Okay, you provide the stools and I will the hats-lol
teehee
oo-er - just realised - that sounds a bit unpleasant - me providing the stools. Ewwwww
how about chairs then
the mind pictures are killing me....hahahahaha
yes, i think we're safe with chairs. Poor Mum - must think her son's a right weirdo lmao!!!
hijacking over, apparently! A man attempted to enter the cockpit (ahem!) but has been arrested. So that's good!
Di and me are so childish - we always laugh at words like cockpit
what has happen to our Sprite
don't touch it pugs, sprite...no, no, no
am still here, honey
Iam not--I know better than that--lol
you know me, always hiding from news reports
are you not feeling well Sprite
I feel fine, pugs, no worries :)
That lovely Mr Putin is a worry. Poland 1939 springs to mind . . .
Iam going later today to get a eye exam and fitted for glasses
Terra is dreaming... barking tiny barks in his sleep and running while lying down, sooo cute
I bet that is cute
oh wow, pugs, that will make such a difference in the headaches. That and getting the sugar under control. You will feel a new person soon.
just moved my feet so they touch him. He relaxed immediately, even cuter :)
yeah makes me feel older and older as one thing after another goes downhill--lol
that's is so sweet, sprite. pugs, marvellous new, dear
the devil is old, pugs. You will feel younger once everything is settled.
honey, everything goes south, you know that...
I know all too well--lol
i agree - it's the only thing that makes me feel impressive naked these days - gravity!!!
is that standing on your head Wor-lol
oh, dear....LOLOLOL
you know the Maxime cartoon where she says she thought she had a heart attack getting up this morning? Such a horrible pain in her breast? Until she found out she was standing on her nipples?
if he stood on his head, pugs, his equipment would disappear entirely....lol
roflollllll pugs!
if i stood on my head naked it would certainly make a good birdscarer for my garden! Mind you, I could always do it in winter and hang some nuts from it . . .
and then what would di say?
if you need to hang on the nuts, you are past saving anyway
they use to have this thing years ago---like a bar across a doorway for you to hang upside down for gravity to be use to reverse things of the body--lol
she's blinded by love - silly woman thinks i have a great body. She needs to get our more
by the way Wor what happen to the pics you promised
ye Gods - i didn't think you seriously wanted them!!!
yes we do. i have only the original one you sent me...i want more..
of course we want them
i can't, anyway. Have you ever actually seen a man in a mankini? They aren't very discreet and I'm not boasting but nothing would stay contained, so to speak!!!!
<------gasping for breath
with laughter or excitement?
LOL
best not to answer . . .
kids, mankinis are those little bags-for-the-balls that have straps over the shoulders. Not very eh... becoming.
*zips the lips*
i agree sprite. Why I bought one I'll never know . . . and buying a second one was just showing off!
fireflies
wtg sprite!!!!! xx
congrats Sprite!
WTG SPRITE!!!
zipped lips are no good to a man in a mankini!
oh if you feel happy in them, no problem there. It is just not the most sexy dress a man can wear, in my eyes.
and you too Rose
oh dear, i seem to have fallen into depravation. I do apologise
buying a second-hand one was brave, imho
lolllll rose!
lmao mum!!!
the point being that they aren't secondhand, so to speak, but second errrr... right.
second balled? No, I've gone off half-cocked now . . .
gosh, apparently a pine cone was brought back to australia by a soldier. his aunt raised seedlings of the tree. the one at lone pine monument, is one of them.
im away to the convenience for a minute brb xx
how long ago was that Rose
someone hand me a tissue. and then the inhaler....
all that exciting talk of the mankini seems to have sparked some interest, lol
interesting, rose
ok, guess I should be off. Got some stuff to do to prepare for my friend's arrival. *hugs* my friends, and to all a blessed day and a peaceful night.
it was planted in the 1920's, pugs
xoxox darling sprite. hope your day is good to you, dear
same to you Sprite and do enjoy the visit--love and hugs
that tree is almost a 100 years old--wow
pugs i have some pics of the anzac day services around our country. would you like to see them? it's okay to say no. my feelings won't be hurt.
sure Rose--I got your calendar hanging here in front of me and I see where you visited there
that's so nice, pugs. i like thinking that you are actually using it.
its a pouring the rain here--hope it dont knock me off
I do Rose---and I feel you near with your writing on it--hope that dont sound silly
back again - and I promise to behave
and you can keep that promise--lol
i shall x
it doesn't sweetie. like your card to me. it sits proudly where i can see it, everyday.
Wor has Promised to behave--can you believe that--lol
thats nice of you Rose
nope, it's never gonna happen. he simply cannot stop hinself. but i love him for it.
I cannot believe you all have such a low opinion of my morals! I am extremely good at behaving - bum willy poo!!!
me too--He makes me laugh most of the time
worzel, come over here and say that...
(hops on hijacked plane) "Bum, Willy Poo!!!!"
(bends over ready for spanking)
wouldnt want you to change, you are cool just as you are
and if your morals get any higher...well all i have to say is....you couldn't possibly be my son...LOLOL
*gets the wet tissue ready to spank worzel*
I do love my understanding yet slightly affected Mum lol xx
wet tissue? what's wrong with a stick of celery?????
*pauses, and thinks, what sweet cheeks*
those wondrous cheeks that you've changed nappies from so many times - and that's just in the last week . . .
*giggle*
D'you ever type something and wonder to yourself "Am I really that loopy?"
all the time, dear
I need to get off of here and do some things before another sister day so I wish you all a blessed day/evening---hugs and love
like mother like son! Isn't insanity bloody marvellous?!?!?!
(((hugs and love))) pugs. Take care hun xx
like the time i wanted to type jocks, and i hit the k key instead. i broke up the chog for nearly 3 minutes. everyone was laughing so hard.
xxxxx, dearest pugs
well that's just mean, laughing hard at kocks. Glad I type my words in the right order there . . .
typed
yeah, insanity is inherited, didn't you know? you get it from your kids.
Good job i aint got kids then - I'm mad enough
always time, dear...to make me a granny again.
I think Di would have something to say about that lol We neither of us want children - we're too silly to look after them anyway, to be honest! Mind you, until I met her 3 years ago I have my suspicions she was quite normal
never mind, dear, was just yanking your lariat. love you just the way you are.
yanking one's lariat. Now there's a good contraceptive!
And I love you the way you are x
I have a feeling the remainder of my c's are going to be pretty damn tough!

ooo just noticed i'm missing ha 5/14
nah, honey. when you see the disparity of our ages...we could only be a mother and son.
age is just a number - my ex wife was twice my age when we first met!!! I always seem to go for older women. Sorry, correction, women that are "one or two years my senior"

Hello to everyone doing the grid :-)
Typical..found the 9 but still no 7s or 8s
hey, where did my posts go?
11:00am (UK) babble freeze, Rose.
i said....g'day zooz.
How are you today?
doing well, thanx. and you?
And good evening to you :-)
I am well thank you.
It is tipping down with rain today here..so thought i would extend my babble time..lol
nice to have you here, zooz
And it is very nice to see you, ((Rose))
How are your knees these days, Rose, still playing up?
zooz, back to work for just 2 hours on the 29th.*fingers crossed*
Excellent news, Rose, i know people keep going on at you to be careful.but well you know.
good morning friends! NBT in 19 words - feeling very smug :)
zooz, it's nearly 5 months. i have to go back sometime.
Nice going, Trif!
as you should, dear trif. and hello, honey. are you well?
not sleeping, but yes, well.
and you?
I understand, Rose, It will feel nice to get back to work for you and interact with the old eam again :-)
team*
I hate it when i cannot sleep..makes me feel all thuddy for the rest of the day unless i can nap through out the day.
I am on school vacation this week, and had all sorts of plans for all sorts of house projects to accomplish....ended up doing some freelancing. happy enough for the extra dosh, but now trying to catch up on house stuff too - v stressful!
((Trif)) try not to get too much done at once..you will get there.
I re-painted my kitchen yesterday :-)
ugh, trif. slow down, dear. smell the coffee and the roses...lol. you need to relax, dear.
and then, in the middle of it all, my fridge died. Now I have the old one to deal with, and I have to figure out how to get the new one in the house....me thinks the doors will have to come off.
nice, zooz! same color, or a whole new face lift? I LOVE painting - really cheers a place up!
Same colour but just a bit deeper..it is a fresh yellow.
ohhh, I LOVE yellow! my house is yellow
trif, you can usually get the seller to remove the old one for you, when they deliver the new one.
My sister just had a new fridge/freezer delivered to her house last week, Trif, Had to take the front door off to get it in..but no biggie. Then the men took the old one away.
I bought the fridge from a scratch and dent store - cash and carry, no delivery.
Sratch & dent store??
btw - Nissan Pathfinders RULE - with the seats down, I was able to fit the entire, full sized fridge in the back, WITH the trunk closed! It's like at Tardis
scratch*
lol sound like you have an excellent car :-)
lol sound like you have an excellent car :-)
hic-cups..sorry about that.
they sell new appliances, but they have some scratches and dents on them that prevents regular stores from selling them as new. For example, my new fridge has a big scratch on the side, and a pretty good dent in the back, neither of which will show in any way, and both of which saved me a boatload
Sounds good to me..nice way of saving a bundle of cash!
I got my dishwasher there too. it's a blessing, that place. They offer extended warranties and a service plan too
I have never got into extended warranties as they can be more expensive than the product itself.
at the rate things have been breaking around here, I figure I need all the help I can get...we redid our kitchen about 11 years ago, and now all the appliances are dying at once. :(
Yes when you get a bunch of things breaking down at once...then i can see it is going to cost a packet and a half to replace.
hopefully that is it for a while. this year alone I have had to replace my well, my dryer, my fridge, and my dishwasher. I would say that is enough!
I think on appliance breaking down every twelve years or so is enough...or am i being to greedy..lol
one*
I say twelve years as that is how long my washing machine lasted until it died on me.
Well it went out with a bang all truth be told.
we used to have an adorable ad here for a DIY place....quiet dinner for two...wife says "the washer died today." husband says "wow, I wonder what happened?" Wife: "Sledge hammer."
LOL
Stats for the 'i' please?

Oh geez got it..a very easy word.

Rose, How did, Puglet, get on with her surgery?
first lot all good, zooz. waiting for surgeon's opinion on the other lot.
That is good news then..hope she is recovering well.
good morning everyone:)
Hello, Crossy :-)
with her diabetes now diagnosed and treatment started, we are hoping she will recover even faster.
g'day crossy.
Let me guess..7:05am where you are, Crossy?
What type of diabetes has she got..is it the mild one?
where am I? Central Ontario Canada. Roughly a two hour drive north of Toronto. coming for breakfast? I will put on another rasher or two if you are;)
currently, tablets. and her blood sugars are vastly improved.
That is good news then, Rose.
No,Crossy i was just seeing if i got your time of the morning correct.but hey i will never say no to a few rashers of bacon :-)
Notice i said few meaning three :-)
ohhhh, a bacon sarnie. i would kill for a bacon sarnie. *sigh*
Oh my, Rose, that is making my mouth water just thinking about it..yum yum!
shopping day in two days time. now i gotta have one. will think of you with every bite.
After all it has just gone noon here.
LOL..you tease, Rose :-)

and a shout out to hootowl who sent me many wonderful recipes for bacon, so I can have bacon every morn and not repeat myself:)
And you can wash it all down with your bacon vodka too!
lol. tbh. I have been ordered to cut it back to one serving a week. the bacon that is, not the bacon vodka
Spoil sports :-(
crossy, if you would just leave off the maple syrup...
so now, Sunday morning brekkies has been elevated to such a degree that I dream of it all week;) actually, granny, I do not each much of it. I overloaded on it s a child, and lost my taste for it
eat
it as a child*
it amuses don and i just how much maple syrup is consumed over there and in north america.
Crossy, every time i en5 a word into the add word box..it keeps coming up with a list of words i have already tried...wrong or correct. Do you know how i can turn this of as it is very annoying?..I have windows 8.1
off*
I know it is early...so when ever you see me on here you can tell me then :-)
granny, true Grade A Canada #1 maple syrup is a very expensive thing. I am a firm believer in that when I do buy it, I only buy the best so it is around $14.00 CAD a pint for the stuff, so believe me, we do not eat it as often as people may think.
good, i can address that misconception then.
zooz, I have win 7 and have not run into this..let me think on the problem a bit..
No worries, Crossy, and thank you :-)
it think, zooz, it may have to do with the windows or your browsers auto- fill- in setting
Wonders what the expensive maple syrup taste like compared to the so called normal one.
OK..will take a look.
you know, the one that auto types in your address after a while? I have the option myself. I would start there
there are many cheap. lower grade syrups zooz

Good day to all.

Hi Scrabs. Hiking today before the rain tomorrow
We are meeting at the park at 12. Our rain will arrive this evening. Its beautiful now. But I awoke with a wicked migraine so I feel crummy right now.
Sorry to hear that. Hope it doesn't get in the way of a good time
<--won't believe scrabs next time she says she works all the time :D\
Being in the woods always cures my ills.
I think Scrabs has a sweet life and a great Scrabble player
Scrabs, did you know there is a Super Scrabble game?
Yes, I bought it when it came out several years ago, and boy, is it fun!
Sounded out of this world
Ruru, I have worked part-time for over 20 yrs. I burned out within a few years after the end of my residency.
bye all.
I quickly realized that I needed a life, not money.
Bye, mixi.
FW, hagd all
Yay!
Part time is great.. good for you Scrabs
I lust for the day I can go part time
Fortunately I can afford to work part-time, although my retirement savings is poor for my age.
that's not good scrabs.. you have to put a lot away these days.
I increased my saving about 5 yrs ago. The advantage of working part-time is that I am not eager to retire. I plan, if my health remains good, to work til at least 70. I am 54 now.
At 70 I must collect SS. I lead a simple life--no excessive spending.
yeah I get it .. you're already semi retired and enjoying what you do now.. that's great
I paid off my house in 19 yrs. I do have a car payment but otherwise I am debt-free. Yes, that is a good way for me to think of it--I am semi-retired already. I am able to enjoy being a doc, after 26 yrs, because I 30-40 hrs weekly rather than 60-80 or more.
40 is full time :D
I started saving late.. but I'm in good shape now
PT rocks!
Hi hoyamd. I forget, you are an ED doc?
i agree with you scrabbler - if you have a schedule you like, you can see yourself working a lot longer! of course, once my kids are out of college, my attitude may change! i am a gas-passer ;)
i worked PT straight out of residency (first out of necessity, doing the per diem thing bc there were no jobs), then grew to love it.
what's ED?
emergency department
oh
Must have strong hands to grasp the gas you pass.
Ah, I tried to like anesthesiology, but I didn't want to deal with surgeons. I loved kids so much and I believe peds was the right choice for me. It has become more difficult to tolerate parents, esp mothers, but the young kids (prepubertal) are so much fun for me. I do not like seeing adolescents at all.
thought Hoya dispensed Viagra pills :D
or absorbent hands :D
:D
When I typed ED I knew you would think of the other ED.
we call them ER's out here
You are lucky, hoya. Working part-time allows you to still earn a great income. Not so for a pediatrician.
different strokes scrabs
yes, parents are rough - i despised peds anesthesiology, though mostly it was bc i didn't like doing the math for each med!
ruru - in the community we call them ERs but they switch over to ED in doctor-speak - not sure why.
Modern mothers are SO anxious, neurotic, and demanding, more so than in the past.
agreed, scrabbler. i am fortunate in my situation.
ah.. thanks hoya..
That is hards
harsh
back in awhile ...
We do lots of math--converting pounds to kilograms, calculating mg/kg/day, calories/kg/day....
Bye, hoya. Nie to see you again.
I bet scrabs
o-o, I am old enough to be a curmudgeon now.
nope .. you can't be a curmudgeon until 60 :D
hi all :)
or older
Too many parents are best friends with their kids instead of teachers and leaders. I fear for the future of our society with these "feral kids."
Hi meal
*signs scrabs up for AARP*
I am a lot older and cranky ... but think parents are influenced by how they were raised.
Oops, I mean Mael
:)
Ruru, I became a curmudgeon in the last few years, and I am 54 now. It is because of what I encounter daily in my office.
and how does that help the children you are so concerned about?
I am pretty sure she helps kids plenty 00
I work in a rural office and we see so much ignorance. Education is essential with parenting but the very parents we want to reach do not want to listen.
My focus is connecting with the kids themselves, to encourage them to be healthy, safe, educated, responsible.
have to run.. have a nice day in the woods scrab.. hope your migraine improves..
Bye, ruru. Enjoy your day!
It is true, o-o, that complaining is useless. Action is needed.

morning all!
Hi Sue
hi scrabs! Good to see you!
hi sue
How are you and Frank doing?
we are good! Frank is learning (slowly) how to deal with his Crohn's (discovered at the same time as the cancer) - it's a process.
It's a bad disease. We see kids diagnosed in their early teens.
yes, we have a couple of young friends who have it. Fortunately his case seems to be mild (or it wouldn't have stayed hidden this long) but it's starting to act up now that his immune system has recovered from the chemo.
I must get ready for a hike--meeting my friend at a park in 45 min. It's sunny and 58 degrees. Yay!
a little cooler here but also sunny! I think we have finally seen the back side of this winter. Have fun!
It snowed here yesterday. Winter is never over when we think it is here. Bye!
Morning, all! Sue, I'm liking a combination of "traditional" medicine and naturopathic for my issues. Try checking some sites for adjunct therapy ideas. For example, a tablespoon of vinegar twice a day really aids digestion.
hi mimi! We can take a look; unfortunately much vinegar is not safe for celiacs; distilled vinegar is ok, though.
We've had 90+ degrees here for a couple of weeks but Sat. and Sun. a storm is moving in and it will only be in the 70's...probably our last cool days until Fall.
Sunny and 52 here this morning; I had a very nice walk!
I also have had great results from taking supplemental CoQ10 which we all need and which diminishes with age. After only a week my energy level increased and has stayed that way. It's really good for improving or avoiding heart issues.
my ex was a big fan of CoQ10 (I don't blame CoQ10 for him, though :-)
Seriously, I will take a look at that too.
I can only imaging how awful Crohn's is...I've had irritable bowel syndrome all my life and it can be brutal. My middle child has it as well and so did my maternal grandmother.
fortunately Frank's case isn't too bad yet; he has bad gas in the mornings but so far that's about it.
But the cancer surgery may not have been good for the Crohn's either; it tends to recur around surgical sites.
I'm finding lots of information these days about natural remedies from the lady I work for...she really knows about it. For example, for muscle pain issues, including leg cramps, supplemental magnesium is great.
ah, Frank was often short of magnesium during chemo; about half the time they wound up giving him extra (but he needed a LOT so that was IV through his port)
For my IBS I've found great relief using the Imodium that is for multiple symptom relief...that includes gas.
he used to eat immodium like candy before he knew about the celiac (and it didn't really help); he's been taking Gas-X and that seems to help some.
So I guess he's on a gluten-free diet?
Also he eats his breakfast in a couple of "courses", doesn't take his meds until he's had some food, and - what seems to really be helping - doesn't have any tea until the afternoon (he went off coffee a long time ago)
he is indeed, mimi, and is quite strict about it - even trace amounts of gluten can trigger him
A tea that is very nice and easily digested is jasmine green tea. I'm drinking it all day now but mix it with regular black for iced tea. Amazon has a great one for the best price I've seen....100 bags for $8...that's actually inexpensive for jasmine green tea. It's important to get the jasmine because it has the most probiotic content.
hello
unfortunately he refuses to drink anything but Earl Grey (with milk). He will occasionally drink plain green tea - or some of the Japanese variants such as matcha or the one with the toasted brown rice - but that's about it.
hi mlfan!
hi uusu
Hi, ML!
hi mimi!
(Quick note) - charcoal tabs, ginger tea, good probiotic supplements ... and you can sneak green tea in with the earl grey and doubtful he'll know the difference.
I never cared for herbal tea at all but this one is quite nice with honey. Beat me to it, ch..I was just going to say he could double up on the tea!
well, he'll drink plain green tea; he's actually very sensitive to taste (can taste the difference between regular and decaf, and domestic wine - with the supposedly tasteless sulpher - drives him nuts)
Gotta get back to work. Have a good Friday, all...hugs.
bye mimi
take care, mimi! Good to see you, and thanks for the tips!
and I am off too, time for breakfast. BBL!

Hello everyone
Hi, car
hi Jaxx7
Hello everybody. :-)
Hello Soodle
Soodle!!!!
Hey Car. and ((((Jaxx)))) I'm home, (reasonably) happy and busy getting ready for the first ever Babble meet-up in Ireland with River. I'm very excited!
I am so excited for both of you! I wish you the best time!
Something to look forward to, soodle
Golly, she has a very busy schedule! She emailed me this morning, wondering what the weather would be like in early May. Sheesh! Rain, wind, hail, snow, sunshine.... take your pick! The long awaited meet-up will take place in Galway on May 8th.
Lots of pictures please!
I am really looking forward to it. :-)
Positivity, soodles. Good for you
Jaxx, I read in the chog sometime ago that you have pink hair. I feel honoured to have a pink-haired lady amongst my friends. :-)
good evening everyone:)
pink hair??!! That must shock your O.B.G.Y.N :)
sorry. could not resist
((((Crossy)))) You old rascal. Tja
Hi Crossy!
car!:)
car, did you catch my tidbit about the Cleavland balloon disaster of 86? was quite interesting:)
((soodles))
No, but I will have to look it up!
I do indeed have pink hair. My husband hates it but it is my statement of growing old disgracefully. My grandmother had blue, pink or lilac rinses and this is my 2014 version.
<---- favorite color is pink
I would go beyond that. I would change up the colour each and every month:)
This is fuchsia pink. It goes well with the frames of my specs. I did threaten to have green and purple after our local football team's colours but the hairdresser advised against as green fades quickly into a brown sludgy colour. My friend that I worked with had bright orange so we tried not to stand next to each other as we'd clash.
There is only one shade available for fuschia pink while others have several versions and don't always dye true. It also covers up my grey hair beautifully.
I love it!
They say that people over 60 are invisible but you would be surprised how many compliment me on my hair so I am no longer invisible.
be proud and make a statement!. Do not follow a bath that other lay down before you, but rather, blaze your own!.. I like it.;)

I need help with CE 7/32 please...I am sure I am all around it, but I just can't get it :(
Yee-Haw!!!! Viva Fuschia Hair. I envy you your boldness, Jaxx.
I was downtrodden child with a violent father. I have just waited a long time to come forward and be myself
You could go for a tricolour version, soodle
LOL, Jaxx. It's taking me all my time to keek
I can't help car. I haven't been able to find it myself
car, ce 7 32 is the same as the 6 before it but insert a consonant after the core word
is it the Brit spelling or the American?
keep the greys at bay. My eyebrows are going grey, and my upper lip-hair is growing darker..... Mudder a Gawd, I'm kept going.....
FIREWORKS! TYVM nancy!

Whooooo Hoo Car!!!
Anyone need a clue or two before I have dinner?
I bid you all a wonderful evening then!
Bye Car. Enjoy dinner. :-)
Soodle, it will make your kids sit up and take notice, believe me.
We'll see, Jaxx, we'll see....
Is that a yes?
Nope!

Not pink! It would clash with my eyes.... Perhaps green.....
LOL
ty for ce7 nancy
alter the american spelling, jaxx
Try a dye that washes out if you find you don't like it. Mine is done every 10 weeks.
welcome crossy
I think the pink hair has addled the brain beneath it.
Got it! Thanks Crossy
Off to bed now, to dream about what I might look like with blue / pink / green hair. I think I might have to grow a pair before I take that step.... G'night all.
Goodnight, soodle. Off you go and dream of River's itinerary. tc.
have a good night soodles
No nightmares about green, blue or pink hair now
Hello babbleworld! Wow, what a day, overloaded with patients/problems and computer issues..now to decompress with babble (and I might add, a moscow mule!)
Hello, Jilly
Moscow Mule: Vodka, ginger beer, lime juice and a mint slice...for those of you who are not hep to the trendy drinks.
Miss molly, the drink is an old one, from the 40's to be specific...just recently popular again
A drink with a kick
well, remove the ginger beer lime juice, and mint and I am all for it!!:)
Happen to just love ginger ale, and ginger beer is even better!
I am going to straighten out my eyes that are crossing. bbl hopefully
See you later jaxx
Yep, an old drink that is now a big jazz, hence my use of trendy.
Just glad it's back and I have learned of it.
As are the variations on martinis, most of which seem pretty urpy to me. But hey, I'm kind of a simple drink person.
Always been a G&T person, and have only had a very few martinis that I have liked, but this drink pretty simple and I do love the ginger taste. LOL..plus love buying the ginger beer "Cock and Bull".
I keep ginger beer around because it's a great remedy for digestive issues.
Have you had Cock and Bull Molly? Truly the best there is, tastes like fresh chopped ginger has been added.
Yes, I've had plenty of cock and bull in my lived experience. Not in a bottle or can though.
ROFL...me too, much more easily drunk by trade name than put up with in real life!
I can't find good ginger beer around here. I'll see if anyone has Cock and Bull :-)
Both our bigger liquor stores carry it here.
survey: What is the best tasting brand of ginger beer out there?
LOL...
I am serious. I have not had a good ginger beer in 20 years.:(
Cock and Bull crossy...it truly is like fermented fresh chopped ginger!
will have to look for it
Son calling for me...brb
I guess a good brand of ginger beer would depend on what is available in your area.
hi all, back to finish. I see I missed Soodle
howdy, peri
Molls. you were not around earlier when I said "Cheers"
Hello peri!
hey Jilly
and crossy
*Clink* Peri, a toast to better days.
And slainte to you to peri!
indeed. I am looking for another place to live without success
I need someone to share expenses with
It's hard to find a roommate that you can live with peacefully.
yes
help with first de6/24 pls
LOL...husbands included molly!
nm
It's actually hard to find a spouse that you can live with peacefully, hence the divorce rate.
I have considered house sitting but that is not always a paid position
but there would be no rent. so I may look into it again
The economy sucks right now and rental prices, even for a room, are ridiculous. The middle class is getting screwed out the ying yang.
that is why I am living here
My son is paying $400/month for a ROOM in a house, just a room.
I am also looking into co-housing
the going rate for a decent, unfurnished room here with private bathroom is $600/ month. Everything else shared, usually no parking space.
400 dollars for a room is cheap. They are going for 800 around here, insane.
that is ridiculous, Molls
I was paying almost $1,000 a month for a large one bedroom, with nice balcony and off street parking. I sure do miss tht place
Considering that apartment rentals are over 1000 dollars a month, room rentals are also going up.
It had lots of closet space too
people are turing their homes into rat mazes of as many rooms as they can legally cram into them without the fire inspector closing them down. It is the new economy.
FW. going to read for a while. I am reading: A Reliable Wife. It is very good.
bye for now
It's a sad world, economically when the fat cats are still sitting pretty with big pensions and big houses and people who have worked hard all their lives are getting laid off and losing their homes.
Did a clean up on a Victorian ski rental this winter; the owner had turned it into 14!! rooms with a single shared kitchen and one 4 piece bathroom. No laundry, no parking. was nasty.
Well said Molly!
college kid special.
So, you clean up rental places? That must be a tough job.
how does one clean up a place like that? burn it down?
Hopefully waaring gloves!
*wearing
almost G.E. they take 2-5k deposits and almost never give them back.
I did for a time , Moilly, but it is a nasty, underpaid job, so I moved on
cleaning up glass, blood, poop, needles, every type of revolting trash you can think of so the drywallers can get in there and fix all the holes in the walls
Okay, 35 left and having babble issues...be back later...
tc jilly
That must have been an especially hard job this winter, when the weather was so bad.
it can be. any one who owns a rental unit at the base of Blue Mountain hires independent cleaners so they can flip the units fast, especially at christmass and march break
Guys like me spend a day or two doing the rhough work, then the drywallers, carpet guys, plumbers come in, then the cleaning girls come in and finish it off so it is ready for the next weekend or break
Glad it is over. did not do much of it this year.
$800- 1k for the march break times 14 room minus my fee, the plumbing, the drywall or whatever, and repeat for as long as the base on the hill lasts
Interesting
tiring.
sitting at my computer watching the parade of house tours. House across the street was just put on the market last night. Lots of after work appointments this evening.
trying not to be Mrs. Kravitz
Toronto is crazy now for fully detached homes. They now have home auctions and bidding wars for desirable homes in good neighbourhoods. The current vacancy rate for this type of home is hovering at 1% and they often sell for 100k-200k over asking price when bidding gets heavy
It is making 40- somethings instand millionaires when they inherit mom and dads house that they bought in the 60,s
Could I get a clue for gr8, pease?
a incline measurement
or decline
Short for one who gets a diploma + Murder On The Or**** Express
Hi all!
here for example, there must be a min of a 4 degree downslope gr8 to allow for drainage on new construction
howdy enomis:)
hi all. any super clues?
how are you cross? Are you done?
not yet. two more weeks of English and a 6 week law course and a single 6 week unknown class this sept and I am done
or if you mean am I done the grid, no:)
Good for you! Lots of workout worth it
either one interests me :)
work but worth it not workout!
It is a good time. Should of done it years ago.
takes a lot of courage but feels good after
The hardest step was, as they say, the first one.
:)
The 95 percentile in the 17 weeks of English I am just wrapping up will help open university doors should I chose to persue it.
yes probably - what would you like to study?
at this time, enomis, I have not the slightest idea;(
Is there a Uni course that will pay me to sit there and do creative writing? lol
If so, I am your man!

Good morning all :)

eeek! Littlebit are u still there?
waah
Hi lil*monkey; don't cry.
(but it was weird that little bit left with only 1 post)
kind of like a drive by yelling
Yeah. Hi rurur. I was starting to wonder if I was alone here; it *says* that there are over 90 people here; but they are either engrossed in the grid or asleep at the computer
(as if I should talk! I fall asleep here a lot!)
zzzzzzz
LOL, fnurt! That's what I do (usually when I'm trying to finish the grid and I'm too tired! :-)
hi again all!
(DH is watching Alton Brown's "Good Eats" and it's about all sorts of cheeses. I already had supper; but now I'm craving cheese!)
oh man, cheese is one of my real weaknesses!
hi uusue! How are you and Frank?
I was in heaven for the year I lived in Switzerland (and the several summers after that when I returned) but it didn't do my waistline any good :-)
Hi Nef, we are still good :-)
And how are *you* and your Frank?
I go for a long time without craving cheese; but I love it too (I may have to do a cheese run before the night is done….)
We are fine, sue. DH is doing better again; I need to make him go out and socialize though (he has been a real stick-in-the-mud lately)
ah, I have to drag mine away from gatherings - otherwise he is always the last one to leave :-)
My daughter just *HAD* to take me to a cheese place in MPLS recently and introduce me to some terrific cheeses!
nice :-)
I am popping in and out
hi lil!
DH loves to socialize; but I think that this winter and his tenuous health in January got to him.
haha I liked that description of "drive by yelling"
ah, that can be tough, nef
hi lil*monkey. Are you mostly out? ;-)
um no, I am straight
yeah, sue; especially since he doesn't drive anymore. He turns into a poop when that happens...
oh, my Frank would hate not being able to drive!
Oops! Sorry, lil* now you're confusing me!
We've been down this road before, sue. Once he gets back on track he should try driving within his usual boundaries (roughly 3 miles from home). He got lost last fall (he was about 4 miles from home and had no idea where he was)
Oh, dear. That must have been scary, for both of you!
There are 4 main highways around us; as long as he's inside those boundaries he's comfortable; but he was just on the other side of one of those and got mixed up. He went to pick up some Chinese takeout and spent 2 hours trying to find the restaurant and then 1/2 hr coming home from there. He was less than 1/2 mile from the highway for most of that time
Highways can be really confusing.
My son wanted to call the police, but they won't go looking for someone that soon after they are missing (and my son went and got the food;the Chinese restaurant kept calling us to find out if we wanted delivery or what. Then they called to tell us he made it and that he was coming home!
Maybe delivery would have been better :-)
oh, yeah. What's worse, is he had the menu WITH directions, the address, AND a map on it and he's been there before!
I hate to say it, but it sounds like maybe he shouldn't drive at all any more?
I think we might be to that point; so far he hasn't even wanted to go to the gas station less than 1/2 mile from home since then.
I don't blame him :-(
The good news is that he's been through all sorts of testing and he isn't getting senile (is that still politically correct or not). He's just distracted and needs to pay attention more they said
so maybe with practice and attention he could do it? Still seems risky, if it's not necessary.
The testing was just this past month; and they said he HAS to get out and socialize more. So, that's where we're at: I have to get him out.
but maybe in circumstances where he won't endanger himself or others if he messes up?
yep.
the first de6/24 plz
kind of puts you on the spot...
past tense of what a wolf lives in, movieman
(it's also a palindrome, if that helps...)
thanks for the de6, sue.
yw :-)
ty sue
and that's fireworks for me!
YAY, uusue!!! WTG!!!
sue, are you doing any traveling this summer?
nothing big, nef; we may take a day trip or two
but retirement finances are kicking in :-(
funny how that works: no time to travel when you're working; no $$$ to travel when you retire. (I know how that goes too!)
Indeed! We do have a membership at the Morton Arboretum, which is less than an hour from here; we didn't get there while Frank was sick, and then this winter was rather discouraging. So we need to get back there. Lots of hiking trails!
anyway I am off now for a bit; may come back and clue later if needed. Good to talk to you, nef!
That sounds good. Our Arboetum is way across town; I like the parks around here (including Como Park and Zoo); so am hoping that I can get him and the grandson out and about a lot this summer
firewords! ce7/32 was my last - like the prior ce6 with an extra consonant in the middle
Take care, Sue! Hugs to Frank too
YAY, dan2bit!!! WTG!!!
Miss2bit is growing prettier every time you post a new pic, dan2!
thanks Nef! Can't believe she will be 4 in just a couple weeks
My grandson will be 5 in 1 week
They do grow up fast, don't they?
indeed
and thanks for reminding me to update from St. Patrick's Day photo to Easter photo :-)
:-D yw!
same dress though :-)
I can't tell yet. I'll have to look at it in your profile in about 15-20 minutes I guess.
clue for re6/18, please
used for cheese making, aeb
ah mercie Nef!
aebmusica - it rhymes wth crooner Tony
thanks Diane, I got it from the cheese making ingredient.
good clue, Dianne
thanks
brb, phone.
Back.
Dianne; is that the Chinese flag or one for Hong Kong or ???
It's the Hong Kong flag.
I know so little about so many things like that. Isn't Hong Kong now considered part of China; or will it always be a separate part of China?
Hong Kong is part of China since 1997 but the agreement id "one country, two systems" for at least 50 years.
oh, that's good then. Would you still be there if it wasn't that way?
I doubt it.
(Sorry I'm so nosey. I don't even know why you're there!)
Business - we came out here 20 years ago.
you like it there, I imagine. :-)
I like a lot about Hong Kong but I would rather be living in the USA - that will happen in a few years.
:-) Me- I'm kind of stuck in Minnesota. I'd love to travel; but I doubt I'll ever get out of the US (my hubby has MS; it kind of limits us a bit)
I could never deal with the cold weather that you get.
Oh, I grew up in NW MN, up by the North Dakota and Canadian borders. I moved south to the Twin Cities for the warmer climate. ;-)
If I ever start thinking I'd rather move to a warmer climate; my hubby says that there are bigger bugs down south!
You've got a good sense of humor !
That keeps me here. :-)
The coldest we get here is in the mid 40"s but that is very rare.
No - I'm wrong - this past winter we had frost recorded twice.
LOL! It's been in the 40's for about 2-3 weeks here; and we think it's Heaven! :-D
(It's been a very tough winter here; WAY too much snow and it didn't warm up enough to melt all winter)
I bet it's harder for you there to have the cold temps (with frost & in the 40's. Do you have insulation and such there?)
I have a friend from Iran and she said that they only have 1 room in a house with heat so when it gets cold there it's pretty tough dealing with the cold
We live in an older apartment building and there is no heat. We have space heaters that "travel" around the apartment with us.
Brrrr! That sounds colder than here (I love central heat)!!!
In the winter I like to do a lot of slow, oven cooking which warms the apartment quite nicely.
Aaah! That does feel good, doesn't it? I love to make big pots of chicken soup in the winter.
Got to take care of a few things - be back soon.
okay, Nice talking with you! :-)
Hello again babbleworld!
Hi nef
hi Jilly! How are you today?
hey all! one word down...
Hello (((stiddy)))
hi stid!
:-D
88 remain!
Oh nef, long horrid day, but have the weekend to recover....how are you doing?
Jilly, I saw that you'd posted a house for sale in your town on FB. Isn't that a bit pricey for little Hamilton?
I think so...LOL, will see if they sell it. I would think around $250,000 personally.
wait -- jilly's moving? there are two houses for sale on MY street... nice neighborhood, nice neighbors, you can move in soon!
NOOOOO, just commented on a house near me
I'm exhausted right now, Jilly, I had a good day but just don't have much energy by the end of the day.
oh... <sigh> okay...
I know what you mean!
It's listed for over 1/2 million, stid.
<----would love to be a neighbor of stiddy
oh my! that seems like such a HUGE number!
It doesn't look that big, and it was built over 100 yrs ago but looks totally redone
They really did a nice job, but it isn't a very big house, just really well remodeled
The old lady I cared for when on Home Health 20 years ago was the daughter of the original owner and had grown uup there.
evening all - looking for a clue for fireworks. The last EN6/18 please and thank you!
Well, older homes right now seem to be seeing a resurgence in interest. After two generations of moving always into "bigger and better" and leaving all heritage behind, I think people are nostalgic for their grandparents' sense of place...
LOL! Jilly, can you imagine if there were a bunch of Babblers living as neighbors somewhere? I know you and harpjane live in the same town, and jill lives near someone too; but a bunch of Babblers living as neighbors? It would be too much fun!
imho, of course
hey jindigo!
Jilli lives near Flosey
sorry jindigo, will look with you
sorry, Jindingo, I don't have any en 6's yet (but am now looking)
Jilleroo, Flosey, Hetty, and Dilly all lived near each other, now only Jill and Flosey remain. But we keep looking for more closet babblers on the islands!
Hi Stidama
I am looking too, Jindigo
thanks - i am sleepy and would go to bed but it's just one word.
jindigo, add a vowel to the end of the 5 before it
Thank you Jilly (big hug) . I am now off to dream land. Night all *poof
sweet dreams jindigo
Niters jindigo
YAY Jindingo! WTG!!! (And Good Night!)
*happy smile* I found the 9 all by myself!!!
I have been trying to get another gal here that I play scrabble with to start babble
oh sheesh...WooT WooT WooT jindigo
worth a try, jilly. :-) It's nice to have word addicts to hang out with -- online and in real life!
I've tried to get my sisters and my friends who play Scrabble and Words with Friends to play Babble, but they don't stay if they even try it.
wtg, stid! It's not a very common word for me
Yay for stiddy!! How's the house coming...got a move in date yet?
Nef, you were talking about soups... I put a pic (sorry it's blurry) up this evening. If you want to see it.
LOL no, no firm move in date yet, but I believe they are scheduling the inspection from the county for next week. There are a couple remaining issues that must be resolved, but it now feels really closer.
close. that is, closer than it did a few weeks ago!
Yay!
sorry, the pic is of the range - it's in place now!
At lunch today, one of the other teachers had toast... I mentioned how long it has been since I had toast (no toaster!), and she couldn't believe it. But there is NO SPACE in this apartment for a toaster. So, no toast. One of the first things I do when we get the go-ahead is go buy a toaster.
thanks for clarifying that stid. I've been looking for the soup!
yep. I am already dreaming of the soups (and tamales) and stews (and tamales) and jams (and tamales) that we will make this summer!
I also haven't made tamales since the fire, and I miss them. I make pretty decent tamales. :-) For an Irish person, that is.
We used to have a toaster that hung under our upper cabinets; it was here (and well-used too!) by the time we moved in here 21 yrs. ago. When we redid our cabinets last year; we took it down and decided to get a regular toaster that we use on the counter; but we put it away after using it all the time.
Stiddy, does the apartment have gas or electric stove?
It sounds like you miss them a lot, stud. I think I've only had tamales once or twice in my life
I like the idea of undermount toasters, actually. I think I will end up putting a toaster on the little cart that will go under the coffeemaker.
The apartment is all-electric.
Dang, if gas you could get a camping toaster that sits on the burner
Eventually, I hope to upgrade that last little corner of the kitchen to a cabinet of some sort that lets me have a little "breakfast bar" set up.
<---pea green with envy at a pot filler!!
Jilly, I NEVER thought of that! LOL that would have been completely wonderful.
Jilly -- did you see my front door color?
LOL...my dream is a coffee station in our bedroom
I have an undercount knife holder where the toaster used to be. I am aware we don't make toast as often as we did before ...
No, is it on your site....gonna go look
oooh. that would be so nice (but Tom really doesn't like coffee). :-) I will settle for just having the little in-wall coffeemaker we got.
Yes, it's there -- down a few posts.
ooooo....blue! my favorite!!
I am advocating for a knife block that has those little ceramic rod things instead of slots. Love that idea.
LOL that was fast, jilly!
Thankfully it was the post after your kitchen pix
hmmm stiddy, hadn't heard about the ceramic rods...ist that to keep knives sharp?
oh good! LOL I am a little discombobulated right now, between the testing coming up in our school and trying to set my kids up for a solid year-end experience... and needing to start looking for my next position. It's a lot of things to juggle for my pea-sized brain.
http://tinyurl.com/k9ttw83 It's called a "Kapoosh" knife block.
next position? Darn! I'd hoped they would hire you permanently, stid
LOL...just found the ne4/9
I had also, but it was a one-year contract. And it doesn't look like the district will get the same funding (it was grant funded) next year. So I am looking.
oops. *sits in PB*
ooo, we have a bed bath and beyond in Missoula!
I guess I should join you there too, stid…...
Otherwise, I think the principals would have kept me on. They have almost always had positive things to say when they speak with me. And when it's less than positive, they always make sure I know how to improve... It really is a wonderful place to work.
Dang it stiddy, what stress to have to go out and find a job again...
I've never seen that type of a knife holder before. It would be good for the knives I bet (but not so good with a very busy 5 yr. old who is always trying to "help" and finds forbidden things to play with
not really, Jilly -- a hassle sort of, but I know I can always fall back on substitute teaching, and I am good enough with a strong enough reputation that people tend to ask me back a lot. I am not overly worried about finding another position.
This last year has been a perfect learning environment for me. I am really happy to have had the chance to try out some specific ideas with the same kids all year long and see how things work from start to finish. And I made a BUNCH of new teacher-friends who are amazing. I have a great network.
Well, maybe you should just take a substitute job for this next year. Then you'd have time to do all the little stuff to finish your house just right
I KNEW the Hawaiian bird was in here somewhere!
Great attitude stiddy
Tom is able to pay all our bills without my income. So my employment pays for my student loans and as much of the boys' post-K-12 education as I have extra. And of course, the housebuilding... but in a year or two I will have replaced everything I need and that expense will be a distant memory.
Jilly, Where is the Hawaiian bird? I can't find it
Which Hawaiian bird? The goose it ain't.
whoops, lol...just a bird, NOT the goose...I am tired tonight
hm. bird. not goose. *thinking*
the ei 4?
(I thought she meant the goose.) I do have a different bird, but it isn't Hawaiian to me
aquatic bird stid
Jilly, I have had so much good luck in my life. I have met the most amazing people in the darkest times. I have optimism for the big things (although a confirmed pessimist for little things -- keeps me up at night!).
duck, goose, te... AHA!!!
thanks. Did n't have that yet!
hi stiddie, nef, and jill. back for my last 30 :)
hello Kate! down to 37, but fading fast.
Hi TK! You are here in the evening again???? You must have changed your schedule or the coffee shop did, or something!!!
Kate! ((hugs)) it's been a long time since i have been on with you!
stid, I have a confession to make to you. I still have a freezer half full of grapes that I need to can.
hi nef... about a week ago, i thught i'd try to fire up the cncient lappie to see if any networks popped up... there is a new cafe across the street from me.... lo and behold, i was able to log onto the network... it is not secure thhough and very slow, so i don't use it for anything other than babble etc. i hope i don't lose it... fingers crossed!
I should probably promise you a jar of home made grape jelly for a housewarming gift for you….
((((jilly)))) oh hell... {{{{{((((group hugz))))}}}}
((((((((group hugs))))))
LOL Nef! My friend still has some frozen berries being held for us in HER freezer... I can move them to my freezer next weekend, I think. :-)
I owe home-made jam/jelly/cookies/cards to so many people at this point...
Your new house freezer?//
(((((((huggs!)))))))
WOOT!
My new freezer is a 5-foot long chest freezer by frigidaire. It is a dream. It has little milk-crate style compartment dividers. It will hold our half pig, several chickens and all the berries and pre-made tamales and such that we need. We used to have both a vertical freezer and a tiny chest freezer, so in a way it's down-sizing. But it's going to be SO NICE because chest freezers are really efficient.
yippee! found an 8! down to 36.
but the freezer isn't plugged in yet - the house floors are now finished, but the utility room and garage are still waiting. We have a few construction materials left in there.
go, go stiddie!!!!
I didn't know that they still made chest freezers anymore. Ours is an upright; I think 22 cubic ft. or so. It's in our garage because there's no room in the house for it.
go stiddy!
pigsicles?
Yep. They are pretty imposing. LOL ruru!
Go stid, go! You can do it! (I've been here for hours now and still have 37 left)
<-----!!FW!!
our local farmer raises the happiest, nicest-tasting, most tender pigs I have ever had. I love that they are well cared for (we can check up on them) and that we are helping support sustainable, local farms. He grows veggies, too -- veggie scraps feed pigs, pigs feed people.
YAY jilly!
congratulations jill!!!! wooooot :D
YAY, Jillyjill!!!! WTG!!!
ty Kate!
ty nef!
what was your last word?
LOL...tr4/5
oh my, a fishy fireword indeed!
down to 32 now, and finally NBT
Especially since I had the tr5/12...
i did the same thing... and thought i had tried it too... putting it down to my poor typing skills ;)
OH stid...LOVE the kitchen sink!!
:-D I know, right???? Tom was dubious, and it really shows its age, but I LOVE it, and it just feels "right"
where did you find it?
And I love the soapstone counter tops! I really wanted them in my kitchen; but the price was higher than I wanted to pay (and I have a family that spills all of the time
it was in a little house that we were renting almost 20 years ago. When they remodeled they were going to throw the sink away! I called dibs and it lived in my backyard for 15 years.
The price was higher than I wanted to pay, too -- but it's a once-in-a-lifetime splurge on something that we will really appreciate because we actually cook, bake and enjoy being in the kitchen.
I was going to go with laminate when I found out the price, but Tom convinced me that if we didn't do it now we never would. So then I convinced him to get the actual baking oven for the wall (it has a built-in humidifier!) for his breads. Win-win, I call it!
Ts toppled!
WOW! :-) We redid our cupboards and counters last year, and my str. was over the other day and said how much easier it is to cook in now
:-) Yes, it is amazing how much improvement even little changes make. Compared to our old house, this apartment was cramped and inefficient. Compared to our new house, our old house was abysmal... LOL moving home will be a surreal experience, I think.
That sink was a perfect choice, how awesome to blend your past with your future!
I totally agree, Jilly. It's such a cool idea stid
I am really amazed at how great laminates look, but they damage so easily that I think I will find a way for funds for a solid surface...possible quartz
brb
thanks jilly. I know that soapstone is really soft (but we always use cutting boards anyway...), but it is such a lovely material. Like velvet compared to velveteen.
I got quartz in our house, Jilly and I love it. Then, last summer, we put new counter tops in the condo (that I'm trying to sell but my dtr. is slow at packing & moving)
Quartz is so sparkly and fresh-looking! what color, Nef?
the counters that we put in the condo are about 3/8 inch thick and they are put on over the laminate! They're made of granite
Yes, some of the new laminates are beautiful, jilly -- and I like how "safe" the corners are. Few sharp edges to run into.
In our house the quartz is white with tiny black dots/flecks. It' really brightens up the kitchen, (but it isn't sparkly).
wow -- using the laminate for support. A great id4
The granite, on the other hand is black for the bar counter (pass through) and grey with mirrored flecks in it. It really sparkles and is gorgeous too
okay, help on the EN 7/8 combo?
Sounds like a beautiful combination, nef
stiddy, to add spice to a soup does this to the flavor
to augment something
make a photo better? and pt
ah! thanks ladies!
12 now
an even dozen! welll done :)
Gooooo stiddy!
Es eliminated!
back now - just finished grocery shopping, on-line. I love that about living here.
Ds done...
the condo appliances are stainless steel and black. So that's why I went with the colors I chose. The grey matches the stainless steel sink (maybe it's brushed chrome though. It isn't the same color as my sink at home)
hello dianne!
Hi dianne, I think you might be new to me, so it's nice to meet you! Wow..Hong Kong!
Hi stid - glad to see things are moving ahead for you.
:-) I have mixed so many metals in the house (chrome fixtures were cheapest, so they predominate...)
hi dianne :)
Hi again Dianne. We can grocery shop here at home too; they deliver to the door (I hate shopping, DH loves it. Either way, we both overspend when we shop)
Hi Jilly - nice to meet you too and Hi to traderkate
but my kitchen and living room light fixtures are pretty much oil-rubbed bronze, and stainless appliances... and "chromalux" hardware on the island... :-D
CO 7 please?
BTW, stid, I love the exterior fixtures too.
Here you have to spend US $65.00 for free delivery and they carry into the kitchen. I get all the heavy stuff on-line.
We just a few year ago, removed the last of the shiny brass fixtures here.
co + to add on to a building
or co+an5/20
aha! thanks again!
I think it's about $50-60 worth of groceries here too for "free" delivery
the shame! listed with 3 to go and still don't see them :(
what are they, TK?
I have four left, all C words.
Who goes to the store and doesn't spend that much these days!
I need 4 C words too (plus 20 more)
2 x en 6/21 (don't like prefix words) and de 6/27
I spend WAY more than that... food is so expensive these days
the first en 6/21 looks like a belgian salad green with a different last consonant
ah, and you have mouths to feed....
Food shopping is very expensive here especially for western products because they are all imported.
en+di4/5?
and then next en 6/21 reminds me of a mystical system like astrology for some reason -- or a fantasy novel. en + what you do to bread before you form loaves, without the K
ty jill! that was one!
en 5/10 + add a vowel to the end of it for 1 en6/
A bag of frozen, Tyson chicken breasts cost US $20.00
oops! I clued wrong
ty nef and stiddie!

Wow...but it is similar in Alaska
that's a lot of money, dianne...
go kate go!
the price of chicken is outrageous! and don't even get me started on beef!
What does the frozen chicken breast cost in the USA?
Dianne, at that price I don't think I'd buy it !
Well, going to head out for a bit, may be back for flip
bye jill, ty for the clues!
I won't buy chicken from China but I do buy Brazilian chicken which is pretty good and much more reasonable/
I bought 10 lbs of frozen boneless chicken breasts at Costco for around 12-13 dollars
sweet dreams jilly -- see you again soon I hope!
fw
gooooood deal nef, how'd you score that?
Bye Jilly! If I don't see you again, HAG weekend!
Nef - that's a bargain.

Oh, Man! I suddenly feel really tired again. someone just hung some weights on my upper eyelids I think!
then call it a day nef and get some sleep
wink weights?
I should, shouldn't I? If I stay up another 15 minutes, I'm caught in the Flip crowd again and won't quit.
it's a weekend nef.. stay up :D

:-P Yep, ruru.
If I try to stay up; I'll need to eat to stay awake. I think I'll head to bed now

Good Night Everyone! Happy Babbling All!

Her daughter does it now
and she's nowhere near as good as her mom
is abby still around?

In whatever paper I saw her column in it was right next to Dear Abby.

we always had one or the other up here, too expensive to run both in smaller papers, i guess
