Definitely not true, even my hubby knows to ask at a restaurant because I am absolutely stuck in bed the next day with the most massive headache.

I have researched it via a Guardian newspaper article. In 1968 a Dr Kwok wrote an article saying that he suffered from strange cramps in the back of his neck after eating at a Chinese restaurant. MSGs had been in major use since 1942 and nobody had complained until 1968. In 1980 75 countries did a major study and all came to the conclusion there was no proof of anything. In 2002 the theory was put forward that it was down to psychosis or "you suffer what you are TOLD to suffer" - i.e the placebo effect. And to this day there is NO evidence that MSGs are harmful to you.

Yep, will have to agree to disagree. One morning I woke up with the most awful headache and we tried to figure it out...ate at a new Korean BBQ restaurant the night before. Called them, yes, MSG in a lot of their sauces...

I agree Dee, fair enough. I only feel that I should put it out there that maybe psychosis is the issue. After all MSG is only salt and water added to a naturally occurring amino acid that is already produced in the human body.

But glutamates do weird things to people who have sensitivities. Therefore...
Mayo Clinic calls it a severe food intolerance.
If it were glutamates it would happen with a lot of different foods. Mine is only when msg is used.
And that's only in Chinese food. But most restauants don't use it anymore.
Just had a discussion with my chiro about glutamates last week, he wants hubby off of all of them. Plus, MSG hides under many names, including soy products, hydrolized yeast and ... I'd have to look them up again, but I know them when I see them on a label.
Well I cook Chinese all the time and have no problem.

I was up in the Larentians. Went to Ste Adele, Ste Sauveur and Mt Tremblant. Stayed with a friend in Weir. She lives on Lac Rond.

The Laurentians are very beautiful.

we will some day. That was such a better route my friends gave me that the one I came in on. Longer distance but no traffic and no construction.

Until I have my hip replaced, hikes are out of the question. Manon took me to a spa - wonder place - check it out at www.beauxreves.com. We did not do massages but enjoyed the river and stone thermal pond
