JILLI !! Hello old friend! Where have you been? It is so good to see you here again
hi jill gl
hi there jilli, great to see you!
hi bugs -- I've been facebooking and jigidiing and stuff and nonsense. Just thought I'd drop in here for a few minutes.
hello saan too.
missed you jill
and everyone!
You are missed here for sure
What have you been up to, bugs? Did those acorns ever produce?
How's your ankle?
di7
I am sad to say the trees did not make it with deer and Floyd on the mower. I think next time I will forget about my property
The ankle is finally fixed! All I have to do now is strengthen it so I won't worry on steps.
It was such a relief to get the metal out. No more pain.
Well, I knew the deer would devour them. Glad your ankle is mended -- I know it takes a while to get confident on steps.
It is very hard to get Garry Oak to root. They want to pick their own places.
Let me know if you want any more acorns. Right now I have a regular gang of about seven deer eating the ones off my trees.
Hi all :)
Good to see you again Jilli :)
Hi Lizlin
Hi liz
Doesn't mean I'm not happy to see everyone else too! Hi Bugs :)
did you squirrel away those acorns Jilli?
i hink that is why our squirrel population is decimated here........... in te last 10 years... the deer have hogged all the acorns .. leaving no food for them
Haha ruru -- back to normal?
yes ..pretty much thanks
I rarely seee squirrels here -- in fact I've only seem one and it was years ago in the woods.
i think it is time for the city to cull the deer and feed the poor and relieve us of gthe burden of the deer doing damage to pur property
ec 7
good idea sammysmom

Random guess - not the ending I'd've normally tried!

Even quieter! Not been out. Keep getting gi5 :(

uggh, liz. have you an ear infection?
Hubby here too! Entrance hall has first coat of paint.
Don't know. No pain but some tinnitus and occasional gi 5 spells.

aaahh, just read your profile.i am sorry chat is not good for you.
morning all
oooo I have a great word for our dictionary: toopay - a toupet you paid too much for
{{hugs}} sprite, dearest. how are you sweetie? have yu had a decent night?
hi rose *hugs* Just back from the hospital again, and in between visits, didn't sleep that well, lol. How are you today?
ditto, didn't sleep well either. but probably for a different reason.
i have just taken my first extra magnesium since wednesday.
and how does that go?
?? sprite ??how does what go?
is the magnesium working already? You wouldn't take extra if you didn't have pain and cramping muscles.
oh, duh me. of course. it has kicked in and i can walk without whimpering.
ah thank God. With yesterday's stress and all, I am not really surprised you are having a tough night and day. Are you being extremely gentle with yourself?
yes, sprite. i went out for lunch as planned. and haven't done much else.
good :) You deserve it. You tamed lions and sabertooth tigers.
brb, need a drink
ok :)
back
wb dear friend :)
so how many appointments have you to attend?
doctor, with physiotherapist and co-assistent, was yesterday. Today was first session with pt. Doctor again in 4 weeks, pt in 2 weeks.
do you far to travel? and how are you getting there?
yes, it is in the nearby town. Yesterday I went by car. And lo and behold, of course they are doing all kinds of rebuilding there... had to park in a parking building and walk for miles. Today, Rob is away in our car so I took the bus. Went ok.
well done sprite. i am proud of you for doing that.
thank you :) Am kinda proud of me too. Told them about the incest and all yesterday, which enabled them to treat me correctly and diagnose me more easily. And today I was strongly encouraged to take charge and not let myself me pushed into any treatment or test that I don't feel ok about. Good lady, that pt.
be* pushed
good for you, dear. you are going from strength to strength.
oh and the doctor suggested I take a daily dose of... you guess it.... loperamid.
yay!! glad to be validated....* giggle *
lol
I am amazed at how quickly they want to help me. Was told yesterday there was a 2-3 week's waiting list for the pt. Barely home, phone rang. Had been a cancellation and the doctor had said to ring me and give me that spot.
oh, so good when something like that happens.
lol, and what I just found out... having to go to the toilet 15-20 times a day is NOT normal! Lolol/.
hmmmm, the doctor is correct hun. looking forward to hearing you are having a more usual life soon.
I'll be happy as can be when I'll be able to have more control over those bodily functions. Lol, the doctor said it was no way to live, with this handicap. I said, I don't know any other way.
now hun, please write down. Dr Timothy McCarthy. and Dynamic Pain Care. i am hoping he is on google.
is he family?
no sprite...google, him, he is the almost at the bottom of the page. there is a link there to talk to him. he may be able to help your doctor with treatment. just a thought.
I will certainly tell her about him, thank you
when i go in next week i will ask for his email addy.
that would be awesome. Would you pls ask him if there is any relation between incontinence and CSD?
hmmmm, i think that would probably be better coming from you personally or your doctor. if you have no joy, let me know, and i will chase it up for you.
the doctor I am seeing now is specialised in gynaecology and incontinence issues. So I need something to link her work with the bigger picture.
fireflies
*nodding* i see that. WTG SPRITE!!!
thanks sweetie :) I am gonna lie down for a bit. It took a lot out of me, two days in a row, so I need to follow my own advice today, lol. *hugs* and my blessings over your sleep. Angels watching you tonight. With loving eyes and tasty butts.
sprite ?? that post says CSD...shouldn't it be PTSD ? just wondering if auto-correct strikes again.
um I meant the central sensitivity disorder. Might be syndrome and CSS would be more correct.
ahhh. yes css...i am thinking the answer will be yes.
I wouldn't be surprised. And if so, there is a lot of incentive in this for her to find out more about it. Since I won't be the only patient with this for her.
hugs and kisses dear friend. please rest well.
*hugs* dear friend.
fellow babblers. will pop in and out. please feel free to ask for a clue if you need it. will be here until about 6:30am, babble time.
good evening, Rose and Sprite!
howdy all!
hi, unea
:-)
back in a bit
omg...i had half-closed the laptop with the mouse between the lid and the keyboard...it has taken me 4 minutes to clear the entry box of the letter k.
g'day lbdawger and une
ahhh.... up too early, but with huge mug of coffee in hand, am happily watching Mike Holmes on HGTV, haven't seen him in a year or more. Love that man, heehee! hi, rose, lbdawg, et al. :)
morning rbud. lovely to see you, hun
(Mike needs to come see our house, he'd have plenty to fix!)
I've been known to do something similar, rose, like drift off to sleep with my finger on some letter, lol
hi rbud, love Mike Holmes!
*giggle* so long as we don't hit enter.
very embarrassing.
stats for the E?
I've missed Mike, he's not been on any channel we get for a long while.
I have es5/12 so far.
don watched the dvd of good morning vietnam for the first time yesterday. i thought i would have to rush him to the emergency room...he was laughing so hard. and then, he played the extras...my lord...i had tears in my eyes from laughing..
lbd, ec7/36, think pregnancy not in the right place
Great movie!
if you get the dvd, it has all the takes for when he is on the microphone...that man was amazing.
Good morning, happy Friday
don has never seen aladdin...that has to be one of the must see films. i didn't stop laughing for nearly 2 hours. apparently it didn't win the screenplay award because of all the adlibbing by robin williams.
xoxox, sukee
Sigh, Robin Williams. I still get teary eyed when I think of him no longer being here.
I've always loved Jumanji, though it's not really one of his usual performances - I liked it far more than the kids did, lol! :)
wow, this is a stingy little grid!
sukee, did you see that he was newly diagnosed with parkinson's?
good morning everyone:)
g'day crossy, mate
((((crossy))))! top o' the morning! :)
I have seen actors and singer come and go, divorces, car wrecks, various suicides, metal issues, but I remember when we first heard about Robin Williams. I was in shock. I actually felt like I had lost a very close friend and I have never felt that about any other actor beofre:(
((rbud))
((rose))
crossy, he reached across generations, sexes and cultures. he was so gifted.
like princess dianna...she was the same.
ty for ec7 pregnacy word. Nice first word of the day for me:)
I remember seeing a picture of him nearly a year ago, in which he didn't look good at all, and so I'd wondered if there were health issues as well as the mental ones mentioned more often. Then heard there were.
*grin* yay crossy
hi crossy
my tummy is so full.dinner tonight, apricot chicken, roast potato, and pumpkin, steamed brussel sprouts and carrots....and heaps of gravy. * sigh * heaven!!
I can see how the parkinson's diagnosis would send one into a tailspin. while I admire Michael J. Fox very much for toughing it out as he does, it's not like that for many, I imagine.
Hi kids.
And Williams was a very physical comedian.
rbud, to know you are degenerating into a vegetable is never easy to face. michael j fox is very strong.
yummy, rose, sounds delightful.
howdy scrabby
g'day scrabs
A friend of mine's husband has Parkinson's and is in a home. He has good days and bad days.
there is baked cheese cake to follow, but i don't think i would give it justice.
Can I just have the stats for the two K words?
hi crossy, hi scrabs
mmm... cheesecake
for robin to act so punctually shows me he was also a very strong character. i hope i am the same, if/when the time comes.
sukee, ky4/10, and its plural
yes, I would tend to think that the Parkinson's must have been the tipping point for Robin, which is actually more understandable for me.
We recently dug out our copy of Patch Adams from our old vcr tape collection. Was odd watching the scenes with Robin and Phillip Seymore Hoffman. Added new depth and meaning to what they were saying in the dorm room scenes
ty rose
I'm watching my poor husband deal with his MD, and I admire his fairly positive outlook - but I wonder and worry about what must go on in his mind sometimes.
What type of MD?
Ah, got the K words.
My doctor thinks I have a touch of MD that is causing my mobility problems. My brother died of it when I was very young.
It's a very mild form if it is but it is slowly degenerative.
crossy, don has seen only a few of his films. he has discovered what i already knew...robin williams was an extremely gifted performer.
I think they're calling it myotonic, but it is definitely congenital as many in his family have/had it also.
I diagnosed a 4 year old boy with Duchenne MD in January. I was devastated and then had to tell the parents. Such a tragic disease.
his mom, two brothers, a couple of uncles... and they all had the same stance and way of walking.
have any or all of you seen the actor's stugio episode in which robin appeared. it was 15 minutes before the compere could ask his first question. it is available as a down load.
Though it can never compare to MD. I can speak as a man who has had a very serious ongoing, life threatening condition. What was going on in my minds was a combination of several things. Stubbornness and anger and this having the nerve to attack me, helplessness and frustration knowing that it is something I cannot fix with my strength and skills like I am used to doing, feeling embarrassed at other caring for me instead of the other way around. Wanting normalcy as much as possible in all that is around me while I turn my mind and energy inwards to fight this enemy. ... hope some of that made sense. i have not had my tea yeat and am half awake
which sort of gives me hope that our two kids may not have the genes for it, as they don't walk or stand like that. at least I hope and pray.
I can identify with all of that crossy
gosh, scrabs, how do you do it? i could never tell a patient or their family such a negative diagnosis. one reason i was a nurse, and not a doctor i guess.
rbud, do they walk sort of in a rolling gate, looks like limping to some?
It makes sense, Crossy. It sucks to be a patient, to be helpless and dependent, to have an uncertain prognosis.
I walked like that my entire life and was even called "duck" by some nasty kids.
*holds crossy gently*
Rose, it is so sad for this family. This adorable boy will be in a wheelchair by age 12 and dead by 25 UNLESS a new treatment is found.
I know what you mean, crossy. ((((hug))))
Anyway, have to run. Not that anyone will notice.
*sigh* so hard to watch, scrabs. even as a nurse, there have been many times during my career when i wished things could be different.
ty, rose, but no need now. Been "clean" for a long while now and am blessed with a squeaky clean now life. It is one of the benefits of beating a life-threatening disease or illness. Everything is minty fresh and mine to do all over again.
new
really the stance is odd, kind of a way of having the lower half of the body forward, wide foot placement, having to "throw" the feet forward to walk, while the top half is leaning a bit back. Hard to explain.
hagd, sukee
I see you sukee:)
goooo crossy
bye for now, sukee
Bye sukee
awww, sukee, i notice, dear.xoxox

and curi is back. g'day dear
Well, a tad embarrassed to day that even though I finished school in 1980, I was missing some credits to qualify for university entrance requirements. That is what this has all been about, Bichon; filling in the holes. Good thing is that I will graduate in the top 5% and can basically walk into university without writing the entrance exam so long as I qualify for the particular class parameters
second completion last night..
That's great news, but will you have time for a job and school?
First column S?
like I say this is finished for me in 4 weeks, then I come back in june for ceremonies. After that We shall see. I cam work a job around class and studies

Clearly, more coffee needed.
Clearly, more coffee needed.
Back in a bit
does ap4 relate, at least definitionwise to oc7? Funny juxtaposition.
(oc6)
It is so beautiful here, we've had better weather in Sept than in all of July and August put together
It is a gorgeous day here too Ruby. And I have a pork roast in the slow cooker with onions, garlic and spices that is making the house smell so good.
I made a pork roast on Monday and it was awful even though I cooked it with sourkraut, caraway seeds and beer. I think it's just because French pork is too lean
I was just googling whether boiling milk makes it lose vitamin D
I drink a lot of milk, but like it best when boiled
So what is the verdict?
Must have been another drive-by
wow, no copay
http://tinyurl.com/ldku598
in depth view of boiling milk.
wow
Might be Co-pay?
I googled, looks like it is copay, and no red underline as misspelled (unlike googled) when I type it in
must be too modern a word for this list...
unfortunately, I see the word a lot on forms, every day! always copay
http://www.merriam-webster.com/diction\nary/co-pay
can someone give me STATS for the H please?
ha5/14
HA 5/14
ty...
lower corner a?
AP 4/6
ap 4/6....
ty
just couldn't see that
:-)
Frequent use does not always equal a valid word. (Case in point "alot") Copay is an abbreviation for co-payment.
Yes I have seen alot used a lot.
that isn't the case here - both Oxford Dictionary, and Random House Dictionary spell it with no hyphen, as does whatever dictionary Microsoft uses, as does all the myriad insurance and government forms we see daily in the office... it is correct as copay. No dictionary says "alot" is correct
but it's not like it is a GOOD word, so do we really WANT it here anyway :)
lol
well, it would gray my c which would be nice!
good morning, everyone :-)
Hello, Nan :-)
down to 13... must run, the last c will have to wait until later
but it wouldn't though, because whatever c you are missing wouldn't NOT be a word, so you'd still have to find THAT one
hi and bye cyber
I don't have much to say about the Oxford Dictionary since it includes words like "gaydar" and "screenager"
only the online version
What is the point of an online version being different from the in print version?
To be honest.I do not think much of the enable dictionary either..lol
one has flexibility, one has time-tested authority
Also, I wonder how many people actually own a current, hard copy dictionary.
I'm missing the left lone O - can I have stats pls?
I do but my copy is about twenty years old now :-)
love the avatar molly - though it's a little creepy
od4
ty got it :)
Every day word, Harry :-)
Sorry I was a bit slow in responding then..lol
lot of lag today on my end
Yes same here too.
well, i mean, if you hear some kids talking and you're like, what the heck is that new slang, the online dictionary would help you with that problem. if you are having a debate about whether something is a "real word" or "correct" then you go to the library and check out the print OED.
not check out as in check out from the library, check out as in look at
they don't let you take volumes of the OED.
I just don't see the point in having one version of that dictionary say a word is valid and another version say it is not.
because there is a difference in purpose. descriptive vs prescriptive. one is saying, "this may not be a 'word' but all the kids are saying it", the other is saying, "this is a word".
some people think dictionaries should be descriptive and some think prescriptive, so, they found a way to do both.
But it isn't saying "this may not be a word, but all the kids are saying it". It's listing those words as words with definitions.
stats for the left col. s, please?
but it is meant to describe current usage, not establish correctness.
si4/7
ty - couldn't see that one
So, the words are not "correct" but they are in the dictionary.
yes. i mean - people will differ over what is correct but that is kind of the way the OED is doing things. some people will argue that there is no such thing as correct.
o dpm
I fancy a cheese omelette! back in a while :-)
i don't like those people very much.
hello
greetings!!!
alright you made me hungry now
i have a lag in here as well

sorry never mind
gi 7, please?
What you say on a horse
what you tell a horse to do but change last vowel to the first vowel
oh brother - like that is really a word!
If you look at the definition, both this spelling and the other spelling are acceptable
I don't give a *&$!%&! how you spell it -still don't think it is a word
molly that i just weird
i thought it was two words anyway
gi 5 please? - something equally ridiculous, I suppose

Egad. Gremlins was so long ago.

I think "pigism" should be a word. Oink is a pigism.
ty cyber
to 6: male feline who chases the females

What's the other 7? I have di7 and gi7.
ec
Ty.
yw judi
Ah. That led me to my last Oc as well.

on my way - hagd everyone :-)
Hi Squrell
just found out my son is being interviewed at 3:40 (Eastern) on NPR today. live!
Proud Mom moment for Dorens
Good Afternoon Everyone.
Wow, Dorens; what's he being interviewed about?
his new book -- Generic:The Unbranding of Modern Medicine. (not exactly a hot topic for everyone, I realize)
Well, that's up my alley! I'll be listening if it's on here (I usually have MPR on anyway
cool
Generic as in generic drugs? I think that would appeal to many people taking prescription medicine.
Do you know what program it will be (Marketplace, All Things Considered, etc)?
yes. he is medical historian..
i'm just going to check that now Nef...
I confess, I am not an NPR person, but I wish him well on his interview.
helo again
I swear generics have made a huge difference in the cost of medicine these days. I have to pay for a med out-of-pocket every month (because my insurance company won't pay for the 4th pill per day which is medically indicated but their "rules" won't allow them to pay for it!). That 30 day supply can cost anywhere from $45 to $98/ month, depending on who makes it. :-(
(that's 30 pils)
Which doesn't sound like a big deal; but it's a medication that has been around forever, and that price change every month is a PIA
Science Friday
okay, that starts in less than 10 minutes then!
do you think the transcript will be online, ? I would love to read it.
Yay for proud dorens
Nef, I agree. The difference between generic medication and the name brand is insane.
issues at work... later guys
And don't get me started on what insurance will and will not cover.
ruby, Science Friday is also on podcast here; I'll check if they have a transcript now
yes, they have transcripts of their shows. I can give you the link if you'd like to the Science Friday main page if you'd like
Very true, Molly.
ruby, here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/qf25xwa And there's an excellent write up there already about it
My brain just exploded trying to read that article.
oh, come now, Molly. It's not that technical
help
po 5,12
It's not about technical Nef, it's that it's in depth on a subject that I get lost on. I'm not a science person.
I don't have it curi, but am looking
4 left
okay, Molly. I get it now
po5/12 sounds like a game of chance you play by picking numbers
thanks, Molly. Good clue! *I* am not a good clued! :-)
I can't give good clues (trying to work around spellcheck)
lost
Powerball is an example, curi

:)
Hi TO and Doren.

no
is that east coast time doren or west coast time?
edt
so 12:40 west coast time?

Science Friday is already on; they haven't reached Dorens son's interview yet (2 more topics before his yet) for Central Time
maybe EST?
oh, i must go hang clothes so i can listen Topic?
so if i come in late i will know?
and hello Nef
Generics
ty
hi hego, ruru, TO and everyone I've missed.
can I get it on the computer Doren. I don't have a radio .. except in the car.
is on on the "fresh air"program? that is what is on now.
It's on Science Friday, To.
missed it! and i usuallylisten on the way home but returned early today. rats.
And ruru, they do have it on podcasts and also their are transcripts of their shows
there. sorry for misspelled word
<---Does not believe gi 7.
I wonder if Doren is now going to remember all the little people who helped get her there :D
Many people have said they don't believe gi7. It is a variant spelling of the other gi7 with a different vowel at the end. A term used by western horse riders.
Naw, they always forget.
science friday. probably will be available in archive?? just checking it out
I'm streaming now.. so hopefully he'll be on at 12:40
I thought the GI 7 was a silly application on the cell phone
As a life long peon, I can tell you that they never remember. : )
might not remember them all, ru, but you???? anyone I've met in life through Babble --- and RU? My wine guru? of course
magining Ruru streaming..
imagining
Aw shucks
streaming haut brion 82?
<--fellow peon.
Wow, covere the kids eyes.
right Doren
If you look up Peon in the dictionary there's a little sketch of me
Um Hego, I don't think so.
not THAT kind of Streaming molly !
You either Ru.
I feel like a peon today
began life slinging fried clams to help support my kids.
they're talking about birds right now
Was that at McClammo's Hego?
hey, I'm a peon too. I swear nurses have ben more peons than any other people. ;-)
I can top your clam story hego
lol, the Clam Hut.
Oh goodie, it's the "when I was young" hour.
becoming a nurse was a huge step up for me.
yes, Ruru
I made Twinkies for a living
hahaha
After the birds comes the whales and then generics, ruru
while in college
That's hilarious!
zillions and zillions of twinkies
*Waits for the walking barefoot in the snow to school stories*
there are so many Twinkie lines going thru my head, that I can't sort one out!
*Keeps the kids eyes covered*
I also made ding dongs, and yoho's and cupcakes
Molly, uphill both ways.
My first "real" job was as a secretary in a grain elevator. :-) And I had to wear a dress and nylons (and girdle, because it was before pantyhose were invented!)
the laughs are endless!!
Ding dongs...*tells the kids to go play outside for a while*
Poor Nef!
LOL! grain dust is so itchy.
I didn't know grains had to use elevators
Now I have a picture of Nef with grain bits under her girdle.
lmao!!
We did walk uphill both ways to school when I was young; we weren't barefoot though, but the snow got very deep up in the hinterlands
Ruru, good one!
are you saying that with a bit of rye humor Hego?
it's true,hego!
:D
I walked to school.. but it was only ten blocks or so
she barley made it thru the day!!
no whey?
whey!!
But she had a lot of grit!
LOL
*Gets a box of tissues to sob for the poor peons*
Hello babbleworld!
Talk about a girl with grit!!
aw molly.. we feel badly you are so emotional
Hiya Jilly
same here, fur, But we lived on a hill and the school was also up a hill. This was in the flatlands of Glacial Lake Agissiz, but my home town was built on the confluence of 2 rivers
sort of the wheat before the chaff?
Hi Jilly! How are you today?
wow. we just took the bus.
Hello hego and nef! Doing well....it's Friday!!
<-- never had a school bus.
(I so wish I was fast enough to pun with you guys!)
nor did we. city bus.
there has to be a straight man Neff.
potato. now i feel better.
When it was -40 and there was a blizzard, we were sometimes able to catch a ride on a school bus if we got to the rail road tracks in time for them to have to stop
Interesting that you really walked uphill both ways.
Must go for now. Have a good one!!!
see you later hego
POOF!
Aw, missed saying goodbye to hego
clue for CE 6/21 please?
No pity needed. *Still sobbing for the tragic lives you all lead*
sorry, Jindigo I don't have it but am working on it now
I am just not seeing it - it's my last one. Can't seem to monkey either. poo.
before the sewer or after?
cestoi
bingo!
DANG!!! Sorry, off to PB now. :-(
Thanks Nef!
I know.. it's our sad lot in life.. but there are other things to live for molly.. thankfully
will stock PB with macaroons and gelato.
Molly, for some of us, we don't know how poor we were until we leave our hometowns and see how others live. I grew up "poor, but clean" as my Aunt used to say
I can look back at it and remember that it was better than being put in foster care.
I'd rather be rich and dirty
LOL, ruru. I'd love to be rich, but not dirty.
hello all....can someone please give me STATS for the 7's?
di7/36
ec 7 /36
gi 7/56
got it...ty...
working on the other two...
*Opens the PB bar for Happy Hour*
*enjoying the fact that PB drinks are tolerable before evening tennis...sipping G&T*....
Sorry guys...had computer issues. Back now...
*Imagines a frog playing tennis*
my hop increases my racket reach... ;o)
I would think a frog would croak on a hot court
let me pond-er that...
Well, at least you're not a lonely frog, like Clarence Frogman Henry's friend.
nope....not lonely....
sorry. I shouldn't have punned.. I should have toad the line
ewww....
i am green with envy....you are quick on the hop, ru...
Warts wrong penquis?
I amphibian if I say I know much about frogs
she's just a tadpole bit envious
heh heh ....
I knew this would be a froggone conclusion
dying a slow death.... ;o)
I should gecko-ing now
you can rib-it with others until you return to rib-it us...
*The Geico gecko steps in to differentiate between frogs and geckos*
There will now be a lizard of comments
or slithers in...
*wondering whether a salamander sandwich is digestible*....
Oh, stick to your crustaceans, you lucky one.
ah yes....plan on going back to that seaside place on Tuesday....they are open through Columbus Day weekend...
After that you all just retreat to your fireplaces and listen to the wind howl for three months, right?
yes....two seasons here...winter and the fourth of july... ;o)
It's amazing how many people here have that "two seasons" line.
yes...some years it's truer here than others....
in NW Russia, they say...for nine months we suffer through winter...for three months we wait for summer to come....
I am not a snow person. It's beyond me why people are content to live in a place that is a winter wasteland most of the year.
agreed....i do like the change in seasons...just wish winter were shorter...
Winter is FOREVER here in Montana...not ready for it yet...
I like the Montana line.. "if you don't like the weather.. wait for 5 minutes"
ya...from bad to worse....
they say that here, too, ru....the sea and the mountains make it hard to forecast here...
we've had a nice mild summer here.. not too bad other than one little hot spell
excellent weather here this summer....few really hot humid days...rain mostly at night...
But...CLIMATE CHANGE!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!
Molly has been dating Al Gore I see
Okay....38 left...off to clean the kitchen. SOOOOO excited!! My youngest flies in tonight!! BBL *poof*
*Must remember to insert "Sarcasm* into posts
Hope Jill remembers to take her curlers out
*pretends my youngest is flying in tonight so that Jilly can clean my kitchen too
*Wonders if my youngest living with me is reason to clean the kitchen*
HAHA
Hi all.

GASP! You said diss!
there are goodies in the PB.... ;o)
Free hot crab dip with toasted French bread for anyone who bellies up to the bar.
hops right in!
<--holding out for Lobster rolls
and a glass of Chardonnay
they are coming on Tuesday, ru....with crab cakes....
oh. goodie
I had Crab cakes (homemade) last weekend.. Gary Danko style
cool...
no mayo
ok....they always ask here... ;o)
*Thinks Maryland crab cakes are the best*
they are very good, to be sure...
that's what I have heard molly.. that they are the best
Y'all left coast people put too many froo-froo things in them
here they vary a lot....the seaside place has good ones....so i will bring those....
One of my best memories ever is lobster rolls on the pier in Plymouth.
nice....one of mine is our family's lobster bakes....trading my lobster bodies for tails....my father was kind...
But if you ever get to Maryland, Mike's Crab House near Annapolis is pretty good "seafood by the water" eating as well.
One of my best memories was getting baked at.... oh never mind
Dave's not here man
Damnit. I was hoping Dave was here...
well I did see Jesus that night
Hence the transformation into Pope Pommes Frites
C'est Vrai
I bloody knew it. Ruby is Ruru, Ruru is Ruby.
One thing though Molly
I don't wash the feet of the poor
*checks soodle's medications*
*twice*
The French Connection.
*puts some of them in my pocket.. she won't need these*
I speak French, and Spanish, and Greek, and a little bit of Japanese Soodle
And I speak English, Irish and Profane.
LOLOL!!!!!!!!!!
my oh my
HAHA.. great come back soodle
You never know who is who around here.
Or who isn't who
I studied Russian in High School and first year college... and we have a new 5th grade student this year straight from Russia -
Or who might be who for a while, and then disappear
I feel a novel coming on... The Mystery of the Disappearing Babblers....
Oh no, too many novel writers here as it is.
sounds like a Sherlock Holmes story
do you speak Russian doren? still?
that'd be a tough language
I Think I can speak profane too soodle.. or at least I used to
very little... I was still slightly fluent when I met Baryshnikov... nearly 40 years ago
whoa
I saw him dance once a LOOONG time ago.. he was amazing
everyone disappears.... it's the nature of life on babble, but we seem to keep popping back up. Or else we could go into long drawnout explanations of where we are going everytime we leave.
ah, but do you speak profound?
Wow, Dorens! THAT is some claim to fame!
My father was his lawyer
Are you saying that Babble is sort of like Whack-a-Mole ?
ah...remind me to tell you my attorney jokes
*Gets out mallet*
i'm the skipped generation, soodle... My dad and my son = superstars.
ROFL Ru. You nailed it! (or whacked it, maybe...)
i'll remind you of that sure as i'll remind you to always agree with me.
what was he like Doren.. charming I bet
oh.. the always agree with me thing I know better than anyone
Well, Dorens, neither your Dad nor your son would be what they are without YOUR influence. Take a bow!
could there be any doubt of that? But he was in pain, being massaged for a muscle pull after a performance... I was left with the overwhelming smell of wintergreen oil
hah! soodle... there are many arguments against that statement, but I'll take it anyway, thanks!
didn't you offer to help massage?
hahaha... i lacked the boldness at that time
I love the way smells can transport you back in time.
Mrs. Ru thinks he's incredibly handsome
oh he is, and also an unbelievably talented dancer, actor, choreographer...
i'm listening to the radio interview now and it is just so weird to hear this very familiar voice...
http://sciencefriday.com/segment/09/12\n/2014/the-science-of-sameness-developi\nng-generic-medications.html
ohhhhh, sorry. I done did it.. forgot tiny url
oh well
oh well
i'll just keep typing
i don't mind talking to myself
it was interesting.. I notice that certain generics don't work as well for me either
i'm actually quite good at it
LOL Dorens.
he explains how it's more important for bioequivalency in certain types of drugs
ok
to go pour myself an iced coffee
late date tonight
don't want to be falling asleep in my soup
I blame the insurance industry for the advent of generics
always a problem, you know... dinner and a movie... if the movie is at 7:;00
what do you do first?
what do you do first?
i think generics are fine in many situations.
Sheesh, Ru, I thought you took possession of my meds..?
Ooo-hoo, son on the radio and a late date.
Light snack before the movie and dinner afterward
i prefer eating first actually, but I'm trying to be less demanding
and he wanted to do what ru suggests. but i'm an oldtimer
i allowed him to make the choice, since I chose the movie
but then you'll be sleepy in the movie
sheesh (yesterday's non-word) how many posts do I need to make?
Eat before the movie, eat after the movie, no popcorn at the movie. : (
oh that's ok. i fall asleep in movies even if i'm not tired
what's the movie?
i don't really like popcorn anyway (i always bring almonds or trail mix or some such
*Thinks the date is what happens after the eating and the movie* : D
100 foot journey. helen mirren. about indian restaurant owners/vs French restaurant with Michelin star.
wooo hoooo
Molly, you're clearly not 65
I'd be asleep before the previews were over.
what are you wooing ru?
?
michelin star?
What? No sex after 65?
indian food?
no molly's comment
or what happens after it all?
right
Dorens, what is your son's claim to fame?
well, I didn't say that, did I?
there is sex after sixty five.. there'd better be :D
but after dinner and movie and working all day...
yes ru. there is considerable evidence to that
*ties fingers*
after dinner and movie and working all day, all week, I'm not all THAT frisky... so that is NOT the real date tonight
oh.. well.. we were all hoping for an exciting night for you
who's the guy?
soodle, Generic: THe Unbranding of Modern Medicine.. check it out on Amazon. But he was interviewed this afternoon on National Public Radio this afternoon
t my iced coffee and then maybe I'll come back and discuss him
oh.. better get my comfortable chair then
*Pours Ru a Geritol*
LOL. Generics have found their way over here. I am familiar with the concept. Familiar and grateful! But you mentioned that your father and your son were were in the limelight. I wondered what your son was known for.
*Gets Ru's old man shuffly slippers*
so I fought a nasty cold this week and I won the battle. with generic pills and emergen-cee
would not have wanted to show up tonight with the leaky nose I had yesterday
Ru isn't the old one here molly
*Waits for Mrs. Hwiggins to tell Mr. Tudball about the date*
I see that the chog is back to normal... now I will concentrate on finding words... cause we know I'll be falling asleep when I get home tonight and I have less than an hour. I am disappearing
*not familliar with Mrs. Hwiggins or Mr. Tudball
Hello again all!
The Carol Burnett Show
Hey Jilly :-)
Hey there soodle!!
Hello, everyone! Good news---my caseworker called and they're FINALLY putting ALL my judgement money into my account today! Will be there Mon. It has been a very long haul...2.5 years! I just want to move forward now.
<-----disappearing
Good to hear Mimi...what you have been through! Glad it is ending positively
bye dornes
*dorens
It's not even all that much money, especially since the lawyer gets 25%, but certainly will give me the start of a nest egg.
Great news Mimi. I am very happy for you. Now! Can you give me a loan? (JOKE)
Is it just me or is this a really tough grid?
Funny, Soodle....will await my children asking that question.
It speeds up mimi...I have 5 left
I'm going to change from a grasshopper to an ant and put most of it away in investments....SAFE ones only.
It is a bit diagonal today though (avoiding term twisty)
My stupid browser keeps freezing up today. Hate that.
Mine too, had to restart twice...grrr
<----!!F
!!FW none the less.....some really comical words today
No patience with this today...going to finish getting meatloaf ready for my neighbor to pick up and take some home for dinner...she's such a wonderful young lady and works really hard...she's a student nurse, Jilly and will get her degree in March.
Way Hay, Jilly, ya good thing!! Well done.
brb....
Yay, Jilly!!
It's a fine line between informing Babblers of your every move, and disappearing without notice. Within the next five minutes I intend to depart to the bed.
I agree Soodle. No need for the every move thing, but it seems people worry when regulars disappear without notice.
So for those keeping score...Soodle, bed prep...Dorens...date prep...Jill...brb...
*looks at several trails of popcorn*
Well, having served due notice, I can mosey off to the Soodle-pit, secure in the knowledge that no Babbler will lose sleep fretting over my whereabouts.
Puts the OH MY GOD, WHERE DID SOODLE GO???? line away.
Trails of popcorn?
I tend to not senselessly fret soodle regardless
so I guess Doren isn't going to tell us about her date?
We can guess who it is?
People are in chat, and then they are not. No need to explain every minute detail of life when you are no longer here.
Eddie Murphy lives in New Jersey doesn't he?
Oh I'm not seeing that date, no, no.
He'd be fun to go to a movie with
he might be a bit old for Doren though
..just sayin'...
Um...no...
<----- Mildly disappointed at the lack of 'OMG, WHERE'S SOODLE, but I'll get over it.
You need to log on to overnight chat for that kind of drama Soodle.
*nods head*
*fries fall out*
any clues for the 7s?
Flip time is 6.00 am for me. I often log in an hour or so after the flip. Sugar overload frequently drives me off again.
only got one di7/36. Bye

What Moll said

*Sits at the feet of guru Soodle, blesses self*
*Cues up The Partridge Family "Come On Get Happy"
Bless you, my child.
Confessions are being heard in the PB at the moment. Please form an orderly queue....
Oh my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended thee...wait a minute...I didn't offend God...
Dang blast it! Foiled again! I thought I had found a way to make money. I was going to sell everybody's secrets to the tabloids, make a fortune, move to Barbadlos, and live happily ever after. Ah well, back to the drawing board...
Everybody's secrets? As in everybody here? Hahahaha, no tabloid would buy those.
And I'm telling your nun Aunt what you had planned so you better just start saying your Hail Mary's right now.
Yerra, my kness are almost worn out with all the praying I'm doing.
Bless you my child. Go forth and sin no more.

I have a status?
my beloved has grey streaks in her hair....
howdy une
((soodles))
Calling Stewarts Enquiry on that Molly...
I am started to show very small amounts of grey hair and I am only 50 :-(
*orders aarp pamphlets for Zooz*
Zoom, it's hereditary. My oldest has grey temples and he is in his early thirties. Thanks to his Dad's side of the family.
what's Stewarts Enquiry. (learning a lot today)
Sorry for my ignorance but what is aarp?
Association of Aged and Retired People
Oh bloody hell I am not over the hill yet chap..lol
Although on second thoughts I do sound it sometimes.
I am also just a wee lad of 50, Zooz
Stewart
Half way through our ives that is all, Crossy :-)
Went back to school, changing my career, heck, life is just getting rolling once more:)

Stewart's Enquiry has to do with horses. Not sure how that applies here.
In a horse race, Ru, if there is a dispute, the Stewarts of the Course have an enquiry... ~The term has made it's way into common parlance,
That's the spirit, Crossy!
oh.. hence the saying hung like a ....
LOL
Yeah, but when you get grey hair there, you might as well just retire to the rocking chair.
*ties fingers*
*twice*
My M.I.L once said "Nevermind grey hair down there, just wait till it all falls out, then you know that you have arrived!"
Talking of retiring, time for me to retire for the evening.Trying to finish a book someone recommended.Called "The curious incident of the dog in the night-time" by Mark Haddon.
Toodle pips everyone!
tc zooz
Good night Zoom.
*Thanks the dear Lord that she never heard her mother-in-law speak of pubic hair*
oh my MIL was worse than that
lol
*Puts the bib back on*
night zooz
*Terrified at what Ru will post next*
I can't here to be honest Molly.. it isn't PG rated

it is forgiveness scented..lol
sorry, my bad.. i am going to hell anyways
I hear they're big in Prison :D
Thanks for not sharing Ru
believe me Molly. it's best that way
I am a surprisingly modest person in real life
forgiveness with a hint of guilt, notes and a smooth dry finish of collection plate.. now I am really going to hell...
Hard to believe Ru, but okay
I am shy and retiring in real life; a wallflower:)
ask Doren.. she'll say the same thing.
Crossy is ducking the lightning from above...
lol
Yes, already heard from Doren that you are a gentleman...hahahahahaha!
.. it is sooooo true...
I'm not an Emily Post type gentleman ...however
ruru, You and I have to get together and do a gigantic pub-crawl.. would be a riot:)
I think my Pub-crawl days are behind me crossy
I would suffer too much the next day
I would still like to give it a go. I have my universal health card. I am covered.. well, unless I stagger out into the road and get run over by the 11:00 pm bus
I have not had a hangover in 20+ years. That's when you know it is too late for you:)
I haven't had a hangover in about that long too.. Maybe on my 50th?.. yes.. I was a bit hung-over then
but ten years before that then :D
In reality, it has been a dry ship here for last 4 months and things are too jangly and all the colours are too bright and everyone is moving too fast. Time for a relapse:)
ah.. well... not for me anymore.
However, I do have a nice little bottle of champers for October First. Just enough for two glasses each:)
that's Our 21st;)
oh congrats

Thanks, crossy. It's not all that much money, really, but if I invest it well, it's the start of my nest egg. I have an appt. with the financial advisor at my bank on Thurs.

What is that, crossy?
We have some money parked ijn one of those
It is the registered Disability savings Plan
you okay Rose?
I will need to diversify a bit and find something that yields additional income to me but mostly I just want to invest it and leave it there for 10-20 yrs. for my "old age." I plan to work as long as possible.
And, who knows? Maybe the book will really sell...if I ever get it done!
out rdsp yeilds just under 20k at the 10 year maturity rate for every 2500 invested

BUT you are penalized harshly for early termination
apologies, son just sent me a photo of grand-daughter in her costume for her ballet concert.

My goal is to be independent for the rest of my life...not living grandly...just secure.
Whoa, crossy, all those numbers make this word nerd cross-eyed. :)
My browser keeps freezing up today...what's up with that? I ran my programs and it's still happening. HATE THAT.
sorry, redshoes, i shall go back to words:)
Might be the solar flair, Mimi
solar flare is supposed to peak tomorrow
Can't remember seeing when we are to get the effects of it
That one program you gave me, crossy, finds something every day and eliminates it...fantastic.
I am glad it is working for you, mimi:)
Those programs are my go-to for all computer cleaning issues
I might end up just doing a restore to yesterday when this wasn't happening.
others may have different opinions on what works best for them, but I can only speak for what works for me day in and day out without fail
solar flare with northern lights last night and tonight! Saw them! awesome. Don't know about the states but in BC from vacouver up, look north.

Hello rose
my friends please forgive me if i don't respond immediately. the sun s shining, there is a gentle breeze, and for the first time in weeks i FEEL like doing something. so i am pottering around the house, and coming back to you when i need to sit a whiles.
Not to worry, Rose. Enjoy the day. We will be here for you:)

howdy penquis

I am getting too sleepy. It has been a long week. goodnight my friends and happy babbling!
goodnight, crossy...
si4 - it took me a long time to find the si4 - evening all!
hi dan - and everyone!
hi
fireworks!
congrats!
woo hoo sue!
back for a rest. and let the magnesium do its stuff. g'dat dan, sue
WTG UUSUE2!!!!
hi granny! what's with the magnesium?
oh dear! * g'day *
sue, i take it for muscle spasms and cramps.
ah. May it do its thing!
thanx hun.i keep forgetting to not push myself, and my back muscles don't like it.
Ah yes. It can be hard to take it easy sometimes :-)
this product is a wonder 'drug' for me. and i can only import it myself. no-one in oz land will import it.
i should say no company will import it.
Huh. That's weird. I know that Frank needed a lot of magnesium the last time he was in chemo (although that is an entirely different kettle of fish).
we have magnesium products, but they don't work very well. this is an entirely different compound to what is available here.
Well, I
(oops) I'm glad you're able to get it!
how is frank, sue? is he improving at all ?
yes, he's feeling quite a bit better and is really getting his appetite back. I think he's finally gained a couple of pounds (after losing 20-25). He will have his 4th chemo treatment (of 12) next week.
ugh, poor frank.just when he starts to feel human again. i will be praying for him, and of course, you to find the strength to carry on.
thank you - it has, if anything, been even harder emotionally this time - I just hope the chemo works!
you poor dear. it's harder i expect because you know what is going to happen afterwards. it seems like no time since the last cycle of chemo.
I know - it was actually a whole year but didn't really seem like it.
i'll brb, phone
and I'm off for a while - good to talk to you, granny!
bye sue. take care of you two precious people.
Could I have a clue for gi7, please?
back again...marc, what you would say to a horse?
thanks got it
yay you, marc
