ok pug, there are 4 things on a computer called memory, + virtual memory. Cache, ram, hard drive space, and video memory. you can think of a computer as being simmilar to a man in an office. the man is the processor, his personal memory is the cashe memory, his desktop is the ram memory, the most immediate memory, used for what he wants right at hand, what he is working on now. The fileing cabinet is the hard drive space. The cashe is the smallest and most immediate mem, the guy's mem, the ram is next size up and fairly fast, the desktop, only need to glance at it to find what you need, the hard drive is the biggest and slowest, the fileing cabinet, you have to get up, walk acroos the room, get the file you want, return, clear some desk space and open the file to get what in in the fileing cabinet, very big but very slow.
so is this a problem for me to worry about or is it due to the age of my computer not being able to handle the things I ask of it at times. And thank you for the trouble of enlightining me on this
Windows makes up somthing called virtual memory, it takes some of the unused space in the fileing cabinet (hard drive) and sets it asside to be used for virtual memory. When the desktop (ram) gets full windows starts stashing things in the virtual memory (hard drive space pretending to be ram).
is that good or bad?
it just is, how windows solves a particular problem.
it seems to do it more so on a certain game while also talking on chat

running out means your hard drive may be filling up so thire is little space for virtual memory. If you go to windows help it will talk you through how to increase VM. eg if it is now at 10% of your free space, try upping it to 20 or 25%
or restarting the computer will clear it all and give you a fresh start
or, and this is really anoying, the problem may not be virtual memory space, sometimes windows error messages are wrong
okay--I dont have a whole lot on my computer.And I do go once in a while and do the disc clean up and defrag too
I get error on page all the time at the bottom
good, then go to windows help and search for virtual memory, it should talk you through how to increase it. sorry but I no longer remember the steps to do so for win 98 any longer.

when my dad was still here we played alot of eucher
was more popular in the 20s-50s
eucher has some simmilarities, kind of a simlper bridge, except for the bower thing

I am a game nut, still play alot of face to face games, some very good newer games coming out of germany now.
canasta was a big game too when I was growing up.
I like gaming too. My mom and late aunt use to stay up all night playing scrabble.
also fun, remember as a kid trying to hold a big mittful of cards with tiny hands with canasta

I always wanted to learn the board game of risk but I just couldnt understand it
as I can not spell, and no good at anigrams scrabble always stumped me. I can recognize that it is a very well designed game, but I could never compete.

you should see Empires at Arms, a simulation of the napoleonic wars, 220 pages of rules, 7 players one for each major nation, takes about a year to play if everyone meets once a week for a 12 hour session.

No Min and I am very annoyed with what Yahoo has done with their photo attachments.
What has Yahoo done with their photo attachments. I don't send too many e-mail messages with photo attachments.
They have connected Dropbox to any photos sent via attachment.
I tried sending a video as an attachment&I could not do it because the file was too large. So then I tried to do it via Dropbox, but then I couldn't get the video to upload to Boxdrop. I do not know, maybe I am doing it wrong.
I am so not tech savvy!
Have you tried uploading the video to YouTube. That is where I have my best luck with videos. Then you can just share the link with people.
Me too, Min. Dropboxes & instagrams scare me more than muddy bottoms.

i use dropbox a lot to keep files accessible from different computers, but i have never tried to use it for photos....
i would assume that anyone trying to access photos or files that you put in dropbox would have to have a drop box account, too, though i am not sure of that...

I think Dropbox is like Snapfish, other people have to have an account to utilize photo sharing.
well if i write a report on my netbook, i save it to dropbox...then when i am home, i have instant access to the file on my desktop....that's how i use it...

i use the netbook at the coffee shop, for example....or when i am working in a school and have a few minutes to work on reports....
I do that all the time. I think that it is just as quick and maybe even easier. I also forward things from my yahoo e-mail to my work e-mail since Yahoo is blocked at my job.
I can log into all my work files from home, so I don't have that problem. And I never found emailing files to myself that cumbersome.
at home, i just ciick on the dropbox icon and see all my report files...all are up to date...
i never have to replace old drafts with new ones...no confusion....all are up to date...works for me....
there are so many tech options now, one just has to find what works best for them and their situation...
