Hi all :)
helo friends
hi bugs, hi liz
hi everyone, just home, and a tiny one again!
hi flosey
Hi Flosey :)
odd word si 6/24
fireworks
well done Dee
Congrats, Dee :)
ty! Not a very friendly grid, even though it was small.
I agree - I just listed - 25 left.
thanks Dee, was just thinking that
Lots of the words are simple but well hidden.
agree!
some of the silly words we've had before
Also agree - problem is remembering them.
I agree, flosey. I don't remember the si 6/24.
Haven't found that yet.
I changed my icon but I can't see it, can anyone see flowers?
Yes, it's beautiful - meant to say, when I said hi.
oh thanks, this has happened before, I still see the old coffee one
we had lots of peonies back in Ontario but this has been our first here - could have kicked myself for not bringing roots
Lovely peonies - haven't seen those, since I left England.
Such a gorgeous colour.
ah, my grandfather planted them probably close to 100 years ago
the ones we had in Ontario
Truly amazing, flosey.
That's wonderful - to have flowers that have such a long and personal history.
he also planted a lilac hedge along one side of the property
Really lovely to have those memories of him.
I didn't ever know him, he died when I was a baby but Grammie lived another 30 or so years
So even though you didn't know him, you could think of him through his love of flowers.
Really lovely.
yes, apparently he was quite a gardener
Is the Ontario house still in your family?
Well, all, I am off til the flip. Have a great eve/ day and sleep well!
Sleep well Dee, sweet dreams.
(((liz))) ((((flosey))))
no, but when hubby and I moved back to ON the house was empty (gram was in nursing home) so ot was a place to move into and then bought it after she died
goodnight Dee, sweet sleep
Great memories and now you relive them with the peonies in your garden.
every time I go back to ON I drive by the old house - new owners have kept it up and improved it, so nice to see
That's great - and it's good that you still can see that it's well looked after when you drive past.
I'd love to see inside
Perhaps if you knocked on the door, the owners would let you see inside.
I'm tempted
I hope that one day you get to do that.
I'll let you know
:)
Fireworks. Sleep well Flosey :)
wtg Liz, and thanks
good morning all
hi there Sprite
hey flosey :)
fireflies. Cute little grid. *hugs* for flosey. And to you all a blessed day and a peaceful night.
Greetings Friends
re 7/44 and re 8/60 any clues please
re..... mass, involves high scoring letter
re for a heavyweight
Hello again, back for a few more words
Pugs, are you still here?
good morning
hi Ruby, very quiet in here
hello flosey How are you? We are not sually on at the same time
fine thanks ruby, except that I can't sleep so got up to see if I can find a few more words, should be sound asleep at this hour
and how are you?
One of my "can't fall asleep methods" is to look for 7 letter scrabble words. How boring is tat? It always works
I'm OK but husband is failing, not so much physically, but memory-wise
It's both sad and scary
wow, can't imagine!
ah, that's sad Ruby, yes and scary
he's almost 89 and, although fairly healthy and strong, he can't remember anything recent, only his childhood
I am starting to lose a bit, it is frightening
oh dear, that is seriously frightening
He still drives well except that he can't find places, so I have to go with him. I've begun doing some of the driving, but he hates it. I'll have to take away his keys soon, but am loathe to do so.
He is very depressed, overly sentimental alternating with piercing anger
are there no tests for older folks?
putting a name on it wouldn't be helpful. He says things like "I used to be so smart" and "I wish I was dead"/
Here, in BC, we have to be passed by our doctor regarding memory and cognitive issues when you reach 80 - if you fail the medical testing, you then have to do the road test
there are no regulations about that here. Fortunately, he only goes to one or two places alone
I met a young woman yesterday, supervising handicapped WORKS WHO WERE CUTTING THE WEEDS ALONG OUR LITTLE ROAD. sHE SPOKE English (A RARITY HERE!) AND (whoops) comes from BC and is married to a Frenchman
workers*
interesting - always fun to run into someone who speaks your native language - are you completely fluent in french?
My French is pretty good, if accented, and everybody understands me and I understand almost everything, except their comedy
We couldn't live here otherwise as husband won't speak French and also is deaf and won't wear his "appareils"
ah, hubby is losing hearing, has a device but only wears it when he goes out
husband has had 3 sets of hearing aids, at great cost, but never wears them, finds it too uch trouble
I can only imagine how difficult it would be getting use to wearing a hearing device
and yes, they can be quite costly
but without them he is terribly isolated, and we can't carry on a normal conversation.
It has also isolated us socially because he doesn't want to see either our French friends or any others
yes, that would drive me to the point where I'd wear the darn thing
exactly
don't think I could stand being with people and not knowing what's going on
that's how he is but won't help himself
and now, FW so much try to get some sleep - it's 2:20 a.m.
**must try
ortunately, I get out with friends or see neighbors and have a chance to shot the breeze (in Fr), so I'm not isolated
sweet dreams, flosey, it was lovely to "see" you
will say goodnight now, great to have this little chat
thanks ruby, you have a good day
ty, msaybe see you tomorrow
42 and off to lunch
cooee and g'day from me
good morning everyone:)
Hi, Crossy. Husband is 70 today and I am killing a little time before we go to a local hostelry for a family lunch. How are you today?
not bad at all jaxx and tell hubby happy birthday from crossy
That's good and how are the studies going?
they are going well. I am doing varouse case studies for law class atm and find it quite interesting
various
My daughter did a law course at University but fell pregnant and dropped out - silly girl
you do not want to know the ratio of preagnat teens and 20-something in this school. it is insane
server is about to reset;)
this seems to be a tough little grid
About 360,000 babies are born each day according to the UN. That’s more than 130 million a year. At birth many of them already show sign of chemical pollution.
err.. interesting on the chemical pollution part. Tidbit is breathing the air in Beijing is akin to smoking 21 cigarettesa a day
Every day approximately 151,600 people die in the world. That just boggles my mind in the amount of sadness and pain there are every single day. On the other hand, 360,000 babies are born each day. On average, 1.8 people die every second.
circle of life
The human race must move to a planet beyond our Solar System to protect the future of the species, physicist Professor Stephen Hawking has warned.
I am sure he is correct

Mornin' folks
Hi Bich, how is your project coming along?
re 5/12, babblet?
All done Molly, back to Babbling with a renewed enthusiasm
I think the re5/12 is to Mr. Quayle again
ty How could I forget him
I thnk I'm rusty
What project, bichon?
I am working on finishing up entering my Dad's autobiography into the Google cloud so everyone in the family can easily read it
Ah. Interesting.
My father wrote this in his later years, shortly after he began not doing well. The detail is amazing
halfway and NBT - still need the 8 for NBS - off to play music for the morning - BBL
I have thought about beginning a journal, but then I wonder who will care to read it.
You have family, they would love it. My father started his before he was born. The parents coming from Europe and their live in Brooklyn
Well, it has been said that you are the only one who can write your story. You never know, you may have a relative on down the line who will be very interested in who came before him/her.
I have been taking notes as my mother talks about her childhood and relatives. With her illness she has been much more focused on that stuff.
Maybe Jaxson would love to read his beloved Aunt's story
I would love to read anything written by my grandparents since I only got to know one of them, three died before I was born.
True, bichon.
My quinoa breakfast awaits
And I must get going to the local school to do physical exams on kids that parents didn't bring to their own docs.
I see Dr. God backed me in a corner today.
I guess i slayed everyone with that joke..
I don't get the joke
Oh.
but I just came on, so maybe I missed something

ah.. thanks

sorry, meant bialys
hi everyone

Good morning, all!

morning you two
http://houseofbagels.com/site/bakery/
haven't tried it yet, but true boiled bagels, the old NY way
where is it?
in the Richmond - makes sense, the old Russian-Jewish area
Geary near 1 (Presidio Pkwy)
ah... yes.. that makes sense
I'll check it out
missing two s's.. can't find them
got one
I've been craving Hamentashen so I am going to likely visit that place this week - they have a jewish bakery as well
I never know how to spell all that stuff.
I still have 28 here
this is an odd little grid.. some odd words
Easy grid
for you maybe
have you found all the a's yet, ru?
It's a rare bagel place that makes their own, on site. The only one we had around here closed. So I make my own now.
yep.. I have all the a's now
I wouldn't even know where to begin making my own bagels
It's a bit simpler with a bread maker, which I only use for making dough, but still time consuming. But worth it.
I don't have a bread maker.. I'm not really good at baking.. I'm not so exacting with my cooking
I make a batch, we eat some and then I freeze the rest.
Yes, baking is kind of an exact measurement process. Whereas, when I cook, it's more of a "that looks about right" way of measuring for me.
fw - I'm off
bye doc
hi all
sorry i missed kje

Hi molls. . . today I saw a hanging temple. . . *waves back*
Ah, very cool. Here is a funny for you. Roundbarn refers to you here as "mcfrick". It cracks me up every time I see it. : D

Clue for the si6/24, please?
NM> Just monkied it.
Ha. Just looked up the meaning of it. Anyway... Fireworks!
Judi, have you ever been to the Iwo Jima Memorial? It's one of my favorite places in DC.
I have not, Molly. It is on our to-do list. Gotta get there some day. Especially since dad was a Marine.
He didn't go to Iwo Jima. But he was nearby on Okinawa and Guam.
I was there once at sunset. Breath taking.
I"m told all the war memorials there are very moving.
off to bed "nan an"
ur
They are. If you get to the Viet Nam Memorial, be sure to go across the street to the Einstein statue. It's a nice, whimsical break from the emotion laden wall.
My Dad was at Iro, but because of ship problems he was sent back to Hawaii and then CA. He missed Okinaw and Guam
There are a lot of military kids here. I have always been proud to be a daughter of a Coast Guard Commander.

Thank you for your e-mail, Crossy :-)
zooz, I finally caught you on babble. Please accept my deep condolences to you and your family on the loss of your brother.
no problem at all , zooz. This is a tough time for you and the family.
Many thanks, Annie. Looks like there is going to be a large attendance to the funeral which is nice.
You and your family remain in my thoughts and prayers Zoom. I know this is rough stuff to be going through.
Yes, that is nice. So how much the family is respected and well thought of.
Zoom, I just now read of your brother's death - my heartfelt condolences. be good to yourself - that's a long wait before the funeral, ad it will be tiring.
You are all very kind and i really do appreciate you being here for us.
You hang in there Zoom. Your internet friends are with you in spirit.

Clue for ai5 please

:)
back again
Hi Annie, hot day here on the right coast.
HI Molly, going to be cooler tomorrow.
mollly, love the little guy in your icon.
Yes, and I am glad for that. The use of air conditioning is already jacking my electric bill up to west hell.
He is a cute little one, isn't he? : D
My electricity is part of my maintenance. Thank goodness for that. I know I couldnt afford to keep A/C on continuously but sometimes you have to.
is the heat moving north ? Right now I only have the ceiling fan on and it's quite comfortable
This place is a mess right now. So much work is going on because of Sandy. The electrical rooms are being raised so if we get another storm our system will not be destroyed.
that is wise but inconvenient I'm sure
very much so.
fireworks. see you later.
Once upon a time, I lived in the magical land of "all utilities included". Life was good then.
wtg and bye

efficiency in NW DC
The whole thing with Sandy has always perplexed me. 8 million people, living on what is basically an island, and no prevention for big storm surge.
I imagine they didn't think it would ever happen
I need help with the R in the center column please?
clue or stats car ?
Either is fine. I'm very tired!
Thank you for asking though
re 5/12
it's a fortification that ends in a VP's first name
TYVM got it
you're welcome
I was tired now I've got a second wind
I'm sure you are right West, but how can you "not think it will happen" on what is just about an island, surrounded by water. It has always seemed like the poorest planning in the world to me.
I agree.
*Puts out nap cots for all the tired girls*
Ty molly
all the naps not taken when I was young would come in handy now
hello,babblers.

My babbling has ir 4/5 him. How da 4/5 he take it away from me! I am going to give it to him so he doesn't go into one of his ti 5/12s. I did not edit my story so I might have er 5/12 in my typing. I hope that you have found so 4/5 more words with my story. I am going to go watch the movie "Re 7/44 for a Dream".I'll be back later to finish. Goodbye for now

RE 8 - plural of RE 7
The idiom short shrift means brief and unsympathetic treatment.1 Shrift comes from the archaic verb shrive, meaning to impose a penance upon. In its original form short shrift referred to a brief period of penance granted to a person condemned to death so he or she could be cured of immorality before execution.2 This original meaning has little relation to the modern sense of short shrift, which usually bears negative connotations. One usually does not want to be given short shrift.
And here I thought the shrift was simply vertically challenged.
re 8/60 word is plural of Re***** for a Dream (Jared Leto movie) mkg.

Hello rururocks! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
hi min
Hello, all. I want to run something by you guys and see how you respond. My neighbor across the courtyard just had vertical blinds open, an actual move type spotlight shining in the living room and bare naked bodies doing I'm not sure what. I'm not a prude but I find this a bit offensive. Also, there is often a child living there. Response?
It doesn't help that they have done "unusual" things since the day they moved in. Unfortunately, that apt. is right in my eyeline when on the computer so I can't exactly not notice.
yup, unusual, mimi. no doubt.
The guy was right smack dab in front of the arcadia door...hello? For me...nostalgia...but not welcome.
That's apt. living for you....I've GOT to MOVE.
Hello MimiCat! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog.
Hi, Min!
Sorry to hear about your living situation. One time I rented an apartment from a crazy landlord who lived upstairs from me.I lived there longer than I expected
I'm waiting for a lawsuit settlement in late June and then I'm looking for a little house in the woods where I only come into town once a month for supplies. Also, want it to be in the mountains here so I can get change of seasons again. I want a veg. garden and a flower garden and PEACE.
fo 5/20? any hints?
ruru...no comments..really?
Sounds like a swingers club
Lots of depraved people in the world
I frankly am not sure if I'm annoyed or envious....
Do you feel left out?
Hey, I grew up in the 60s and 70s...need I say more?
What's up with the Greek flag?
It sounds a little gross to me
I'm more than a little concerned that a child at least sometimes lives there. All kinds of comings and goings (no pun intended) at all hours there.
Lol
Could be anything...porno house sounds like it..and yes not safe for a kid
Greek flag is in support of my greek brothers
Bye
An fo5/20 is the lobby of a hotel,a big house, or theater.
I am finished! I have fireworks! ic6/24 was my final word
And that was my last clue for the night. Goodnight to all!
25 to go, OY
