but the FM is abating. my body is processing the med differently. i'm not needing as much.

tragic story here. 7 year old was separated from siblings and family in one of our ski resorts. apparently, snow fell off a roof and buried him. they were unable to resus him. it's just so sad.

pugs, 15 years ago i had so many lame ducks in my life. then my life fell apart. my kids were suicidal, i needed urgent surgery for uncontrolled uterine bleeding, my payments on the mortgage couldn't be met...i had to be ruthless in order to survive.
pugs, especially on a si4 like DS, you need to keep a bit of distance. You cannot allow yourself being sucked into every sad story. It is impossible to take on everyone's burden in addition to your own. Listen to rose. All you need to be, all you need to do, is that listening ear. And once again, people who are threatening to take their own lives are in fact reaching out. So even though she says she wants no help, her acts say she does. She needs to hear she must take her problems to a professional, stat.

Mostly American expatriot writers who hung out in Paris from the 20s. Hemingway was part of that group.
I just finished some Hemingway for one of my English classes. I like his writing style. It is much like Jack Londons
I never used to like Hemingway, but I have come around in recent years. A Moveable Feast is about his time in Paris.
simple base story but they let their descriptive and deeper meaning flesh out the story instead of trying to use impressive ten dollar words that make people run screaming for the dictionary
I find that my writing style is very much like Hemingway in terms of using few words.
rule #1- Write to the everyman/woman
I would rather fewer words with deeper meaning than having to use a highlighter to dig them out of some 200,000 word wonder
If you watch Midnight in Paris, it has a lot of the Lost Generation writers/artists/musicians featured
interesting. Just reading up on the lost generation now.

I write in much the same fashion. I either write 100,000 works and cut out 3/4 on the edit or write a nice 150- to 200 page novella and use each word as it it were solid gold to extract as much meaning as possible and hoard those nuggets

Unfortunately yes, the two docs that do Thursday and Friday are gone. But basically got my hours in on M-W with end of year supply inventory.
My youngest daughter / R.N. just took on another position...she's a bed manager at the Grey Nun's hospital in Edmonton.... very hectic but interesting!
Do they use 12 hour shifts in Canada?
the active care nurses do. Neither of her positions do, but shift work is involved in the latest position.
From an older nurses' perspective, I think 1 hour shifts are merely a means to allow administration to have to have less nurses. At 56, I find it difficult to work 12 hours, keep my focus and I think it is dangerous to patient care.
I should ask Lisa which nurses still do work the 12 hour shifts. I know that my friend in Calgary, who just retired, was working 12 hour shifts in maternity unit. And, I agree with your perspective... young or older !

Ruby is a treasure to still be writing letters to people. That is such a lost art form, and I find it sad that people don't take the time to do it anymore.
Molly, Ruby is definitely a treasure. You should see the unbelievable stamps on the envelope. She sends interesting stuff. Bobby is so happy to get the mail.

It's sad, people don't know what their loved ones handwriting looks like anymore. I have letters and things that my parents wrote because I think your handwriting is an extension of who you are.
I used to hate it when employers wanted you to apply with a handwritten letter, Molly. I knew I was being judged and my handwriting changes with my mood and energy level.
I think as far as employers go, that is so they can see if you can write legibly. A lot of people can't.
I used to hold to that idea and apply anyway.
I've taken classes in handwriting and they have been interesting. Your handwriting says a a lot about you.

Okay, got on Caring Bridge site. Franks upper endoscopy went well. But they found a blockage in his lower colon at site of cancer. Not sure if it is scar tissue or recurrence, but for now being treated in hospital for the blockage. He may have to undergo surgery

I am also so heartsick for them. Uusue is actually a babbler I met and, being a gastroenterology nurse, Frank had just begun having problems, but was unable to access care due to no health insurance
Just to post some encouraging words, my daughter in law has Crohn's and has had similar results due to suspected blockages. Surgery corrected them and she is doing well now.

yes, I remember at the start when they had issues getting timely medical care under the old health care system there. I am glad things are changing for the better and they can get things looked after more quickly.
