What was that about your screen, pugs?
wb Liz
Still so much to sort out here.

Hey! jbp long time no see
i've been hanging out with my neice who is 16
Hi jbp
howdy, Lizlin!
How've you been?
hi, Pugs
I don't get on much these days, at least not this late; still working for "Da Man" so my sleep priorities are not my own
I'm hanging in
Well, it's good to see you again.
well its nice to see you---yeah with my job, I miss alot of people too
back atcha, both
I mean, it's good to be working, but... the group that's here at this time of day/night is my fave
did you run from the henhouse Ru-lol
Shame when work gets in the way of pleasure!!!!
exactly!
miss you too jbp
poor rururu
sort of pugs.. I can sometimes be a dumb cluck
hope you don't have egg on your face on account of my being here
Ive never pictured you as a bad egg before
I miss being here, yolking it up with you all
Words are taking sooooo long to enter.
maybe a little cracked?
that can happen when you take a fall
you having trouble Liz
(picturing ruru with arms flailing in circular barrel motion, thrying to keep balance)
Think my computer doesn't like the cold weather.
you liking your job, jbp
actually, mostly yes. I started in March, and was supposed to work thgouh June 2nd.
and it keeps getting extended, but not in any... organized way? it's very weird
but the work, I like
except for it cutting into my babbletime
is it just a part time job
thats good
Better than job hunting though.
it's full time, but contract
usually, they give you a time frame --3 months for example. and then they can decide whether they want to extend another 3 monghs
Liz, have you enjoyed being home
I worked in the same job like this for 8 years.
Yes - but I'm finding it pretty cold.
anyhoo, what's up with your weather, Lizlin?
its to be up in the high 80's this week and muggy-:(
Night time temps close to freezing - our house doesn't get much sun during the day. We were away for 5 weeks, so the house got really cold and hasn't really warmed up yet.
Think I said before that we don't have central heating here. We're looking at putting in an electric fire into our main living room.
well, at least your pipes didn't freeze!
I like the cold better then the heat
True - not quite that cold.
I am just the opposite. I can GET warm, but I find it hard to cool off.
it there are gnats, why are there not gnits?
Good question :)
or gnuts for that matter
Thanks Ru - helped me to a gn that I'd missed!
how has your week-end been Ru
good so far.. have a trip tomorrow too
Did you get to see the vineyards that interested you?
a long trip
going tomorrow liz
OK - enjoy.
thanks .. I plan to
who wants to clue me the q? because if I try quilt one more time....
are you going to do some wine tasting?
qu7: British national sport.

Gerund ending, Ru.
hi pugs, ru, liz, ….
Hi saani :)
Hi Saan, we've had some lovely high winds tonight - pleasant, not too wild
well, I must to bed. but it's been nice hearing from you all, so to speak. ;-)

Hi flosey! Same here - was sitting on the deck for ages

I have all the sevens now (Smug look)
Turning green here - only got 7 of them.
Hello all! Recently got internet and have gotten back in to my babble addiction :) does anyone have any clues for the sq word?
Not me - sorry.
good job Ru
i do.. hard to clue though
squ _+ most of what you put into a board with holes
Hi dsix and welcome back to babble
sq is a tricky word. No synonyms. add a bit of an ovulation, I suppose.
ths Ru, got it
Hmm! Not getting it here! Though from Dachef's clue, I feel I should be!!!
sq u + most of the first part of the holiday nog.
squ + most of what you break to make an omelette.
finished
That gives me 5 letters! Duh! I was trying to make it into a 7 letter word!!! Thanks all.
congrats Ru
Congrats, Ru :)
Congrats, Ru :)
BBL
thank you
BBL

back again, does anyone have a clue for un6 please?
hi flosey a letter not mailed
wold unget be that letter?
wold unget be that letter?
ah, thanks west - and how are you doing
hell adies. {{Westford}} I haven't seen you in ages.
doing okay I should be sleeping lol
hi (( ruby )) we never seem to be on at the same time but I think of you often.
tank you It is a funny summer -- very hot, then periods of heavy rain. I think there'll be a ot of fruit but ogs and I will be moldy
my pinkie is getting less and less effective
in fact I was just talking about you today..CA daughter asked if we were following the bike race..
she said it has been hard to watch with all the crashes
I am watching for hours every day. My "chouchou" Valverde is in second place, but I think he won't make it to the podium. Is your daughter a fan ecause of the Tour de Caifornie
did you plant tomatoes..I've heard they love rain
It is the most crashes and the most "abandonees" that I've ever seen
her husband does the ironman so he rides and rides
My tomatoes are numerous but not ripe; the fig tree has 100's of figs (ditto) and my Mirabelle plum, which I thought was dead 2 yrs ago is covered with unripe fruit
I am so envious. My Brownie troop gave me a plum tree and we moved so I had to leave it
what kind of plums?
will you make fig jam ?
I really don't know..purple lol
sweet and juicy
If they make it to ripeness, I will eat them with ha, with dried beef, plain, with salad and MAYBBE will even make jam. I will also give some away if they all make it
then we moved back to CA and our back yard had grapefruit, peach, nectarine and even kumquats
these are green figs, not as soft and sweet as the black ones, ut eating them warm off the tree is a great treat
the leaves come in handy for clothing too
our young fig tree is producing this year, first time
We had a sanguine peach tree for about 4 years, but it is a little bit too cold here and its last year, it had about 200 peaches and promptly died
Lurking giggle west :)
how big is it, fosey?
such a treat to pick right off the tree, isn't it ?
hi crissie
but I've learned, the hard way unfortunately, not to eat "drops"
hi chrissie
Hi west, ruby, flosey
can't remember when it was planted, not big, base stem might be 4" through
hi Chrissie
don't know if it's still true but used to be in CA they taxed you according to the number of fruit trees you had and also the number of toilets.
when we planted ours it was smaller than I am, but we put it against a south-facing wal and it is enormous now
which you'd need if you ate the drops
if they drop, does it mean they're overripe?
we can't use insecticide, so you can imagine what lives in the drops
no, worms!
hmmm, you're making me nervous
Euwww
what's worse than biting into an apple and finding a worm?
finding half a worm
exactly. They're the only thing I fear
Extra protein :-)
Euwwww
You have a wonderful apple crop flosey no need to fear
haha zooz
Euwwe zooz
{{zzoozz}}
Teehee!
we may even get some kiwis this year - planted a male and female many years ago, male died and didn't do anything about it for years, then planted one beside it - male had 1 flower this year - and looks like we're getting fruit this year - right now they look like furry olives
that's so cool flosey
hope they mature
bringing a little bit of New Zealand to Canada
that is really nice, flosey
there are a couple of meyer lemon trees on the Island
when I was younger my dad told me about male and female trees and I didn't believe him
that was his way of telling you about the birds and the bees lol
I guess so lol
We had a lot of strawberries and raspberries, but I left them for the birds as it's just too much work picking them
it is true last year there were so many flowers but the entire bloom and bud fell off - this year just the petals fell, leaving the little nubs
I did, however, make 10 pots of currant jelly, also a lot of work, but worth it come January
Are you booting today zooz?
Yep just waiting for my sister to come and pick me up. Hence why I was in stealth mode :-)
Hope you find treasure :)
is that what we call a flea market only people sell things out of the trunks (boots) of their cars ?
booting?
It is, Westford.
Car boot sale flosey
do you ever sell or just go to look and buy ?
ah, wondered if it was hiking,
Car boot or car trunk, Flosey :-)
interesting
You never know, Chrissie, although over here it seems to be just total rubbish people try and sell..lol
flea markets here are too formal and too far from the house. And nobody has garage or lawn sales or I would as I have a garageful of unused stuff
lol, same around here zooz
here too
I used to find treasures when I lived in NY state
No jut go to look and sometimes buy, Westford. It is just to get my dad out and about really. As he stays in most days all day.Nice for him to get out.
I've thought about doing a yard sale but it's so much work and not very profitable
we have a farmers' Market in the Park every Saturday throughout the growing season - very successful
that's nice of you zooz I'll bet he really enjoys it..does your mom go with ?
No she goes swimming with her friends :-)
I bet you get to but some nice food products, Flosey!
here we have Big Brothers and Big Sisters and every couple of months they collect used items so I save up stuff and they come and pick it up..good deal all around
Well I say swimming.More like bobbing up and down til they reach the other end of the swimming lane and back again..lol
actually, we grow our own, hubby retired from teaching with dreams of getting back to the farm where he grew up
pool or ocean ?
Pool.
good exercise and good company
even that is good for them, zooz - keeping active
Wow nice, Flosey, Although it does sound like a lot of work.
he loves it
Big brother big sister?
does he have William interested in it too flosey ?
in the Winter he pours over the seed catelogues
It's a charity that pairs young boys and girls with adults for mentoring and companionship a very worthwhile group
not yet, but his mom and dad bought a Christmas tree this year, blue spruce, with balled earth surrounding roots - it is now planted here
Ahh that sounds wonderful, Westford!
blue spruce..my favorite
really stands out amongst the many huge cedars here
Can get some nice cones from them too!
before we were married I asked my husband what kind of Christmas tree he preferred..meaning real or artificial..he said blue spruce or scotch pine
and I'm ure the birds love it
if he'd said artificial that would have been a deal breaker
I rescued another stunned bird this AM, got to it before the dogs did
good job ruby
Stunned as in flew into your window?
78 words and nice to see you all. Happy Sunday!
Yes, my husband thought it was dead but ehen I picked it upp and stroked it, it felt warm and wiggly
good for you ruby, we lost a dear little humming bird a few days ago, he got into the house and must have stunned himself trying to get out - hubby tried to revive him but no luck
nice to see you too..take care
You too, Ruby.Have a wonderful day!
They often fly into the windows or even into the house
we have a bird bath..so much fun to watch them
Aww sorry to hearthat, Flosey, never seen a humming bird except on TV :-(
we've had that happen a few times over the years
The biggest one I rescued was a hawk that flew into the house but I've rescued woodpeckers and many small birds, fiches and such
now a hawk would scare me
Yes me too, Westford. I can sit for hours watching them fight over it to have a bath!
husband feeds them sunflower seeds and we have lots of fruit and a fishpond, so it's a perfect habitat and it's like dog TV for the pups
we have quite a few here, have a feeder front and back of house - as well as seed feeders for others - and peanuts for the stellars Jays
Hawk gosh would probably peck my eye out for a tasty morsel!
I remember you had a heron visit your pond for free lunch
I was able to handle the hawk from behind and she calmed right down and I was able to carry her out and she flew straight up. Really thrilling.
The only one that pecked me was the woodpecker, but no big deal
I'm sure she was very grateful
the hawk, not the woodpecker
He still comes regularly but there are so many fish that \I do't mind sharing
yes, my you have a great memory, westie, we had lots of interesting ducks, etc - but no more, pond has too much growth in it - the ponds are used for watering the gardens
OK lift is here. Nice chatting to you ladies.Have a wonderful day all of you.Hope to speak with you again soon.
*woof*
enjoy zooz
you too zooz..today is the day you'll find something and be on Antiques Road Show
I have 98 and I will quit when I find 2 more
I have 43 to go, had gone to bed but sleepless - darn
it's nice to have babble
are you sleepless because you're excited about going somewhere ?
or having visitors ?
yes, and no committment for tomorrow so I can make it up
I love those no commitment days
no, it's just me, have always been a night owl but it can be frustrating at times
-but preserving days have started
my husband is an early riser..probably why we get along so well..lol
later on today we're going to visit our 2 youngest granddaughters and their parents so I'm excited about that
and zucchinis are coming in - hubby would like to fill one freezer with zucchini bread!!
lovely Westie, how old are the youngsters?
I have a really good recipe from a neighbor that I'll post in my profile not bread but cheesy squares
the girls are 11 and 8
their summer has been so full and they start camp tomorrow
an interesting age - they have more to tell you
Hi flosey and west. Flosey, please share your zucchini bread recipe/
hi Dianne, yes, I'll put it in my profile, ok?
hi dianne
That's great, thank you.

Drop the last letter of the fe8 and add that nice three letter ending.

Aw, just read that James Garner passed away. I enjoyed him so much in the Rockford Files.
Dianne, recipe is in my profile
I'll copy it down right away. Thanks again.

Yes, her to. I loved that broad :) And I mean that in the best possible way.
Elaine Stritch reminds me of a living Maxine. she to will be missed. now really poofing.

All the oldies are dying off
too, ergh, hagd everyone, hi/bye sukee
To me, "broad" and "dame" are complimentary words.
indeed, molly :-)
Me too :)
Lauren Bacall is a broad, Katherine Hepburn was a broad
Rita Hayworth was the ultimate broad : )
you guys are cracking me up - LOL
Who do you consider a broad? :)
Nice to see a good Canadian word in the grid.
yup:)
I thought that was a British word?
time for tea, brb
Do they call them that in the uK too? I don't remember.
The one I am referring to is a hat
nm, better half has tea under way. Us "colonists" use the queens English as well
Nice, I'm about to go make some French toast
she is generous that way:)
mmm, french toast
I haven't been able to train the cat to make tea yet
If you do, let me know, sukee

this grid seems to be a bit difficult?
I am so happy this morning....Grace Under Fire is available on my Roku through Hulu Plus! Love that show!
((mimi))
Mimi i loved that show
((crossy))
We are still stuck with Netflix "lite" north of the border and need programs like Tor Browser to obtain temporary U.S I.P addys to use things liuke Hulu
The whole series is on Hulu Plus...now at least I can have a good laugh whenever I need one!
This will be the perfect relief after bouts of "heavy" writing.
I need a new program to watch, mimi, something good for mi'lady as well as myself

Have you watched Top of the Lake yet, crossy? Outrageous Fortune is also good. Both on Netflix.

All episodes of Highlander are there, too...first thing I added to my queue...heart still has palpitations over Adrian Paul.

hi annie
hi fan, dont have that en7
I appreciate the confidence, Molly!
Hi, Annie!
..or...do you just mean I talk a lot?!
Hi Mimi, How are you today?
ty annie at least i got a en 5/6 from that bottom left corner E. Struggling with this grid for some reason today
No, I meant you have a lot of subject matter to cover.
Well, thanks...and you? Last day of vacation for me. Didn't even get half the things on my project list done...oh, well...
fan, I dont have one e...just started
OK---appreciate that, Molly. You are so right about that.
annie np i have 46 words right now and no nbt or nbs
Going to "battle" a bit today. I got ripped off last night. Ordered a cheeseburger from a place that delivers, didn't pay close attention to the total and realized after guy left they had charged me $14!!! The burger listed on the menu at $7.99 (which is still way too expensive but I had a craving). Then...on top of that, they left off the toppings that were supposed to be there. Calling manager today and if that doesn't work, telling bank not to pay it. They do NOT know who they're dealing with!
There's a delivery charge but that wouldn't nearly double the price.
And...he didn't give me the itemized receipt...just one with the total.
There are delivery places around here that not only charge a delivery fee, but automatically add gratuity.
I tipped the guy a dollar as well. They don't know it yet, but that burger was free!
2nd column E?
Considering the economy and the abundant competition, you'd think they'd want to try to make their customers happy rather than make them mad. Businesses like this don't stay in business long here.
The receipt should have been itemized. Give 'em hell Mimi
At this point in my life I've decided I've reached my crap quota and am not taking any more. Should make up a t-shirt with the word CRAP and the red circle with line through it on top!
mimi, sent you an email

5th column C clue please?
I just started reading the latest in the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series..#21. These books are the most fun I've ever had reading...have read them all. There's a new one every year.
Speaking of fun reading, does anyone know whatever became of Dave Barry?
I loved those books Mimi
wow- plum is up to 21?? i had stopped at around 13- was bummed where it was going with ranger lol- wanted him to win out :D
MLF...putting something into a cipher...
I think the latest I have is 18
Sukee, I "hear myself" in Stephanie's dialog...sounds just like me! The early ones are better, though. My fav was #8...the consummation with Ranger. Also loved the one with the monkeys.
For something really casual I loved all the Cat Who books
Or Hamish McBeth
i will have to check the rest of them out- need some summer reading :-)
I love what are called Cozy mysteries
pen...?
They really miscast Ranger in the movie based on the first two...REALLY miscast.
Thankfully, I never saw any movie
You can get all of them on the alibris site for 99 cents each plus shipping. Order as many as possible from the same vendor on that site and there's only one shipping charge.
i figured when i saw the previews- never went to see them
cool mimi :-) ty
The movie is on Netflix. It wasn't that bad, really, just miscast. Sherri Shepard is too short to play Lula. I picture someone more like NeNe Leakes.

Needing brekkies...also must let Dodger cat out of his "time out" for being a bad boy this morning. Later and hugs all around. Crossy...really do watch Top of the Lake...you'll both enjoy it. It also has beautiful scenery of New Zealand but is a mystery tale. Quite unique.
ttfn mimi :-)
CBS this Morning has Elaine Stritch on right now
Sunday morning

Rest her soul...what a great broad.

Yes, I know, that is why they are repeating it
deffo on that mimi
mimi i totally agree loved her

Yes, we talked about that earlier :)

Her and James Garner too
I aspire to be a great old broad...getting the old part down.
I'm trying

When I told my eldest I wanted to become a crazy old lady he replied "How could you not?"
lol mimi

mimi ROTFL Nice kid
James Garner was a wonderful gentleman. He was very nice to the "hired help" at the Riviera Country Club in the L.A. area.
pretty classy guy thats for sure
Yes, ML...he's also the one who told me not to worry about getting Alzheimer's because they wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
lol

All my kids are smart alecks...don't know WHERE they get it!
And I am assuming he is not in the will? :)
mimi oh suureee
Only for the debts I leave, sukee!
lol mimi
Hahahaha! very good
how many children do you have mimi?
One day I was talking to a former boss complaining about the heat and he said "the heat doesn't bother me" to which I replied "well, you're not a middle-aged hot-flashing woman" to which my daughter replied "middle-aged...you planning to be 112?"
bada bing :D
She thought she had me on that one, but I got her back. I told her "Yes, just for that remark I AM planning to be 112 and I hope I live long enough to become a burden to you."
mimi yes you are planning that just to annoy them lol
the secret, mimi, is to make sure you spend all the inheritance! 3 years before my MIL and FIL passed , they were spending 8k a week on kelation (sp) therapy of all things!
I have 3, ML...all grown with college degrees and quite independent.
chelation, crossy. Good for them!

ty mimi, have no idea what it was all about but it involved some very odd pills

What is chelation tgerapy?
Good thing, too, because I told them some time ago "Pay attention...mom sold the big house and now has a one-bedroom apt....no one's coming home."

I was a very doting and a bit overprotective as a mother but I did my time. Looking for a place in the mountains about an hour's drive from here. I'd be close enough to visit but not close enough to babysit.
that would be my thought ruru- i thought it was for lead.
ty sukee...so did I :)
sounds perfect mimi
stats for upper N?
No4
no 4/4 i believe
I figure 3000 miles will be close enough for my kid to visit but not to move back home:) and the 800 sq feet will seal the deal;)
The grandsons are only 3 and nearly 1.5 and are cute but have way too much energy. I want to be with them when they get into 3rd grade and up...then I can really corrupt their brains.

this grid is kicking my butt!
Thanks Wolvie. Glad I"m not alone!
NBT and NBS came easy , but I am still clawing for the halfway mark:(
Me too, still have 72 to find. Time for a break I think and do some work :)
reminds me, I better soak some dishes, brb
bye sukee- and i am off as well- bbl :-)
bye crossy lol
Back: I said soak, not wash. Figure if I add enough bleach that they will just dissolve and spare me the job of cleaning them;)
sigh.. laundry is coming out of the dryer in 4 minutes. brb. a man's work is never done..sigh
I have the co6 from the corner C...stats for the other word from that C?
sorry, that is one that I meed also
need
co6/27
ty Molly...never thought to change the cons
top row greyed
Another co 6 - I assume the one you have is the one that involves Bletchley Park - the other one is an archaic word for passing by, surpassing
sigh, have to keep retraining the Word dictionary. does anybody know if there is a feature in Word seven to change the dictionary it uses?
Should be in TOOLS then LANGUAGE SETTINGS
ty
how many gn words?
One gn
ty any gh words?
found it, ty. There are a large variety of dictionaries to choose from as it turns out
bbl
Wow, people still use word 7? it must be nearly 20 years old by now
I do indeed. I like the interface
I would be, had I not been forced to change. I'm still learning to drive Word in Windows 8.
I tried Windows 8 once. hated it
Because, of course, Microsoft has to change everything around with each new version.
That must be the very first verson of Word with a proper graphical interface
8 is more for tablets than anything.
do not know, buggie, but it works very well and do not bury you under tons of junk you do not need.
does
Windows 8 has Word 2013 and it's a brave new world.
oh I love Windows 8. Sure the mobile apps interface can cause some confusion at first, but you just have to do what you would with any version of windows. Install the proper software and ignore the apps
I would still be on XP if they had not mothballed it
you do realise that you don't have to use word 2013 ? I have clients using Word 2000 on Windows 8..
I hate Windows 7 and wouldn't do 8
Once you learn how to set Windows 8 up to work like previous versions of Windows, it's not too bad. Buggie is right, you just bypass all the application crap that is tablet like. And seriously, who uses touch screen? I don't want fingerprints all over my writing screen.
still an xp holdout eh ruru?
do not want a OS that i have to change to make it like a previous OS to be palatable. whats the point?
Yeah, Buggie, I know that. But I figured if I was going to learn something new, I might as well jump in the deep end of the pool.
I just wipe the drive, get out my trusty copy of Win 7 pro and do a fresh install.
One thing that came with Windows 7 and really helps out in Windows 8 is pinning your programmes to the task bar. I don't miss the start menu because I don't have any need for it really. I barely use the home screen at all. All my software is straight on the bottom of the screen.
You don't change the operating system. You just work from the desktop, like in other versions of Windows.
I wish I could go back to XP honest crossie
too many exploits in it now ruru:(((
Molly, well that's also a good idea. The new office interface isn't going away any time soon
I was comfortable with that program
what do you mean exploits?
since it is not longer supported, the hackers are having a field day with it.
I'd be too much of a relic in the business world if I was still running Word 2000.
oh.. sure.. I hear that
banks are scrambling because many bank machines still use xp
Relics can be very valuable!
Corssy hugs his Word 7:)
I don't like word in 7 either molly
crossy*
If it is not broken, do not fix it:)
Ah, found it. Word 7 is from 1995 (also named Word 95). Wow, I'm surprised it works on anything more recent than XP, crossy
I am running it on Windows 7 Pro buggie
I figure by the time I get used to 7 they'll make it non-functional too
<---will never understand Windows 15 by the time I'm freakin' really old
lol, ru
Windows 9 is coming out next year
I make it a habit to run the leanest software I can find that still get the job done. has less impact on my old computers resources
Ru, by the time Windows 15 comes out, we will be back to playing with Etch-A-Sketch in the nursing home.
start menu will be back and mobile apps should either integrate properly or you will be able to choose between mobile and pc setups
so they learned from their mistakes, buggie:)
Hopefully I'll just be sitting in a chair and drooling by then molly :D
Hiya!
Actually I use Word 2010 and it has several really good functions that save me heaps of time at work that 2007 didn't have...
morning hego
If you are using Word for business, the newer versions are the way to go. If you are just using it for personal use, any version you are comfortable with will do.
I am sure it does, but at least Word 7 made me put my typewriter away... for now
morning Ru
Well okay, Word 7 would have tons of handy functions your typewriter doesn't. ^^
though typing a novel on a typewriter by candle light in a power outage lends its own charm to the creative process.
We got a typewritten resume at work once. Someone put it on the bulletin board and people were staring at it all day.
Tolkien did all his work in longhand with a fountain pen, so I count myself fortunate
we had a student in my class who took all her work home and did it on her trusty typewriter
Funny, it looks.. richer, somehow
A quality is there that is lacking on a computer printed page
After writing on a typewriter for years, the first time I wrote a page on a word processor and then printed out a page, I felt like I was witnessing magic.
I held onto my typewriter for years
though I am glad to see the demise of all those partial bottle of white-out in my desk drawer!
... yeaha ... but for how long will she be able to buy a new ribbon
Still have mine:)
I still have mine, I will never get rid of it. I wish I still had my Dad's.
I re-inked my old ribbon for years. was a tedious process
That is the problem Dose, the ribbons are very hard to find.
I ran the entire ribbon manually through two sponges with ink infused into them
sounds messy
it was
... where did you get the ink? ... did you use two stamp pads?
I remember the typewriter from when I was little, but as a teen I used to use my mum's word processor (one with an actual monitor)
then i found those foam brushes used to apply wood stain and they were notr so bad
Ink can still be had fairly easily. my better half is into calligraphy
Hego - what is the charming animal in your icon?
a tenrec!
look like a porcupine in 80's punk do
isn't he weird?
Thank you - yes, he's weird, but also wonderful.
yw
And I am so glad to know what a tenrec looks like. Maybe now it won't take so long for the word to swim to the surface of my brain.
my thinking exactly
*waits for nene icon*
lol
or an etui
Howdy, all!
Hi Judy!
Wow. So, that's a tenrec. Looks like a mole/skunk/hedgehog mash up that got dipped in sulphur.
good description.
I didn't even know it was an animal until I saw that picture.
who'd a thunk it?
It is really deceptive of the dictionary to just say that it's a hedgehog!
Really? It looks more like a shrew.
I never saw that color yellow fur before.
Tenrec was FMitch's favorite word
and hi everyone
I remember Annie.
Hi, Annie.
She was the only one who could get it.
hi hego and judi
So a Tanrec is the George Hamilton of the Tenrec species?
minus the tan
right Ru
oh, already mentioned
So, is that picture an adult or a juvenile tenrec?
Aw, will no one icon the poor inia?
very funny Judi
hello
well in that case Molly it takes one to anoa one
I'm surprised there was never a Babblet theme back in the icon theme days.
very funny, ru
FE6 clue please?
yukka jukka
<--coffee isn't helping
It's early for you.
yeah.. gotta jump in the shower soon to leave for my trip
where?
Eastern Washington
... fe6/36 .. gerund form of fe4
have fun!
so close ru but yet so far; I'm western wa
ty dose
ah nice ..like Tacoma?
wondering why Ru would be going to eastern Wa.
to visit wineries hego.. of course
Three guesses. Wine, wine or wine.
a little farther southwest between Olympia and the coast
Did not know there were any there.
oh.. that's nice out that way
tons of them hego
Wonderful sailing in Western Washington
wines and hookers molly
Used to have family in Spokane. Seemed kind of nothing at the time.
Washington State, it's not just for mountains anymore.
Spokane is really boring
i suppose you could say that but not around here unless on a lake
Just the airbase and chain restaurants.
Actually, the lake sailing in Western Washington was almost as good as the island hopping.
Was glad when they moved to Seattle area.
*Imagines all the emails flying out...Did you hear? Ruru is going to Washington for hookiers!!!
What are the fe4 stats pls?
And hookers
... fe4/8
I get to hear about all the forest fires and floods around Spokane - all our US tv service is out of Spokane.
Hookiers.. are whores that take time off
Molly no one believes him.
I just got back from a week in the Salem/Boston area. wish I had planned for longer though
I know. They all think he is a gentleman. Ahahahahaha!!
Hookiers, Sasquatches and Pinot Gris! Oh my!
I love boston
me too!
great pinot gris in Oregon!
We saw a lot but so much more to do.....saving that for sept next year
And the shore in Salem!
Is there more than one fe4/8. Simply not allowing the ing ending!
... nope
We were fortunate in that area. Our host has a boat and we spent some time in Salem Sound fishing; out by Baker Island
Beautiful
That's just weird then!
Judi, Hookiers, Sasquatches and Pinot Gris might make a catchy travel brochure teaser phrase for Washington State.
drop the s alleyn
alleyn the 4 seems like a plural.
you're looking for FE6 not FE7...
Thx all - got it!
Silly me. Throwing those ad campaigns out there for free.
It was a good one, though.
I always wondered about the pictures I've seen of Sasquatch
and
well you would think he'd have a bigger unit with such big feet
there i go setting him up agin.
I can always count on you hego :D
:D
better hurry if you want to see Boston, Ruru as I am destroying it in my novel:)
woohoo nbt and nbs
hey crossy - could you please leave my house intact when you destroy boston?
I shall try
:)
lol Harry.
Must go. bbl
though if you used the Longfellow bridge much, you are going to need an alternate route:)
hy hego bye hego
I don't venture very far from home
let me know when you intend for this to happen, and I'll go cower in my basement and play ping pong.
will do
oops I thought I had nbt but I'm missing the Q
q 7/52 harry, an easy one
Harry, Had I known you were in boston I would have hollered while we were there but alas, out visit was for a surprise party and I could not post anything
next time :)
easy is a relative term crossy
The amount of road construction we ran into was crazy. what would have been a quick drive ended up in a LONG frustrating one
traffic here is a nightmare
hi...are there any TH words?
Yes, harry; next time. We are supposed to be coming back in Sept 2015 if all works out.
... 5/16
I can imagine it's a nightmare on a good day but all the construction just doesn't help the situation. I can say for certain that I will not be complaining about the road work around here :-)
yes one th 5/16 - a nice archaic Babblet
ah ty for the th
theod
got the Q! ty :)
oops
Foreworks!
got it ty
woo helen
wrg helen
Yeah, see Harry. Easy word if you line up in the UK : D
Well - fireworks, anyway. Off to get some breakfast. Good luck, all
any gh words?
just had to look at the grid sideways :)
Molly go to the PB!!
No gh
... no gh
ty
Phae, I opened the bar in the penalty box some time ago.
too early for me....will probably use it later. ;-)
halfway! bbl :_)
"Too early" is a relative phrase on a non-work day for me. : D
Fed up with this grid. Time to put by DIY hat on and go rip out some baseboards.
Judi is off to play This Old House
well...every day is a non-work day for me, so have to set some kind of rules.
It ain't that old, but oy, does it need some work.
My idol is that chick on "Rehab Addict". I wanna be her.
judi love her too
Off I go to rip and tear! See you kids tomorrow! *POOF*
I cannot see the q. Gah!
clues for the in 7/32 would be greatly appreciated

oh well...will keep looking ;)

ty molly

Pls ddb
it means useless, unprofitable and uses the last vowel before the sometimes vowel...can clue more if needed

linking up = q7
... ens/6 ... en + bit of land in an ocean ... usually a warm ocean
ty dose
I put that in earlier & it wouldn't take it...sigh, must be my Nook acting up again.
:)
i really dont like this grid that much at all
Crossy loves his Nook
ormal i had the same thing happen to me yesterday
Does your randomly autocorrect your words in here Crossy?
it does, I have to watch it.
I am sure there is a setting for that buried deep in the options
cross can you put your book on that?
i use mine more for reading and catching up on news than playing babble these days
Deep, deep then, because I didn't find it yet. :)
I can, MLF. since it takes epub files, i camn put my book on any device that accomodates it
MLF, don't you hate it when that happens...silly words not entering.
isnt the qu word also storing something somewhere?
cross when its completed or as you are working on it?
but, for now, the public will not see any portion of my book except for what i have posted in Authonomy
lu7?
It is secure there till the rest of it is done
ormal and its usually somethign you put in repeatedly while trying to finish the grid and then by then end...IT WORKS
cross that is cool
My edited verson of part one is almost ready, MLF:)
Phae...similar to a certain Christian church name...
then I can get off of editing and back to writing:)
lu7 think religion
cross that is so exciting!
ty ormal
ty ormal
ty for the lu word
The best thing, MLF, is that the entire thing is fully developed in my head. I had not a single instance of writers block with this novel;)
I think my target date for completion at years end is still applicable
Are you editing it as you go along cross?
se7/40?
cross even the most famous authors have had their share of writers block at times.. congrats for not being one of them:)
In a row, or in time order...
I have made that mistake, yes, ormal, but after this portion hits authonomy.com tomorrow, I shall get back to getting it all down on paper first
Phae, that was the se clue
ty ormal
i am getting more of the 7s then i am most words in this grid today
looking
phae same word
but one cons at the end
Yw, I am still 51 words away from completion today, but it is early yet.,
you are ahead of me ormal
rule #1- get it all down on paper first even with its scars and warts. get it on paper. editing should always come later.
got it...ty ormal.
I was a little surprised you were editing before finishing, but figured to each his own. ;)
cross whenever i have an idea i can never find something to write on lol
ormal i think if you can it is easier to edit as you go along because that way it gets done. If you wait its like going back to square one
are the s words on the first column common at all?
it was not planned, ormal, but I wanted a usable excerpt for Authonomy
always keep a pencil and a notepad by your bed, MLF
no matter. After today, I shall be back at it.
i want to write stuff without others i live with being nosy hence the reason for not doing that. However we should because we have a phone next to the bed
NOBODY looks at my writing till I am ready. Touch my idea notebook and you may lose a finger:)
last three: un6; middle se6/18; first en6/18
lol cross i have however written small "diary" entries in a book of soem poetry that i have without the other person knowing as he has been asleep during those times
I had started writing a few months ago, had a great start...my kids accidentally deleted it off the computer. MLF, I also find it easier to edit as I go along, but most people don't, and it goes against normal teaching.
phae i only have un 6/21
that's the one mlf...wrong count
ormal how nice of them. i think aditign as you go along is so much better then later
you will know when it is time for you to write, MLF. The perfect idea, or story will burn within you. You suddenly start waking up at 3 am and rush to your notes with great ideas for it. it will demand to be written and you will have no choice but to go along for the ride:)
Like Mr King said when asked "Why do your write stories like that?" he answered "What makes you think I have a choice?"
Phae - the en 6 may be the small body of land in water one? I haven't listed yet, so not sure
ty ormal...that was it
i saw a photograph that a friend of mine took.It was an old warn out chair sitting on a beach. i had ideas flowign in my head at the time. The ideas i had were about him and his wife. Kind of like beaches the movie but its a generalation thing not related to illness
MLF..clue for the un6/21?
yes that is the en6 i have
ormal just did phae
is that the one you need or already have?
Phae, I need to mail my mom some paperwork but it's on my counter, as yet un****
that was the en6...need UN6/21
yes have that one as well
ty ormal...now the se6/18 after the one that has to do with old age
I don't have either of those yet phae.
SE 6/18 - chaqnge consonant and vowel of one re. old age
darn..have to leave...ty for the help.
i used morewords to find the se 6 phae was looking for
God save me from the stupid people at Comcast who tell me that I can check my account status on line if my internet is out.
Molly, lmao!! I'm sorry, but wow!
molly hubby and i had a similiar experience the company told us to use our home phone to cal them from. The main phone line was the one we were having problems with
molly some companies are so smart aren't they? Very regimented which turns out to be pretty much stupid
Mlf, I'm so much less upset about the kids deleting my novel start than I was when they accidentally deleted the last 3 years of family pictures I hadn't backed up anywhere else. Those are now just gone.
ormal YIKES! Not even as photos by themselves anywhere?
most big companies have a macro list of pre-programed trouble-shooting questions that they drone out, regardless of what your issue is.
Cross, you do your book any way you want to. It's your piece, and whatever writing/editing style you use needs to suit you.
Nope, Mlf, just gone.
Yup. It will get to where it needs to go, ormal> I have faith.:)
cross they are like robots sometimes but it was funny when the lady asked my husband to call them phone line that was not working
ormal very sad
I started to read your start yesterday, but then hubby called me to review his resume. I'll have to finish it today.
I have had an incredible urge of late to take all our smartphones, dump them in a blender and hit frappe:) things are more trouble than they are worth it seems
ormal i read your profile on here are you originally from maine?
I you mean you are about to read my bit on authonomy, ormal, please wait till tomorrow afternoon then you will have an updated version
Nope, I've never even been there. Hubby has a dream, and I'm going to help him realize it, so Maine it is.
biab.. time for a power nap:)
The sad thing is, I asked her how I could check my account status on line if I had no internet connection and she seemed confused by that. God help us all.
ormal ohhh i have never been there either.
Bye Crossy & yes I'll wait til tomorrow to finish reading your excerpt.
molly can you check it on your phone?lol
Molly, it was just too much raw common sense. She just couldn't even...
cell phone that is
Oh, that is sad about the family pictures. I back all my files up to cloud storage now.
It's my own fault. I have an external hard drive. I just didn't back them up or print them out.
ormal we never do those kinds of things when we can or should do we?
help with the single N towards the top of 2nd column please
It was my youngest son. He didn't even know he'd done it. He cried when I told him.
no 4 i think wv
I think that is negatives Teach
ormal aww
plural
More than one no wv?
thnx all
lol ormal
yw wv
halfway, NBT and NBS - time for lunch break
Ormal, reading through the chat I see that you have had some photos deleted. Nothing ever completely disappears on a computer. I am sure a techie will be able to get them back for you.
I can hope Jaxx!
does anyone have the first two ge 5/14 words?
This is how they catch paedophiles. I also used to regularly lose stuff at the school where i worked and someone from th ICT department would come and get it back for me.
I'm really hoping he just moved them into another photo file & I simply haven't been able to find them yet. I'm working on backing them all up to my external hard drive now.
ML: critter that emerged from Aladdin's lamp, and Latin plural
ormal good idea. i have discoverd that when you go to find something else you find what you thought you had deleted or uninstalled lol
my grandson played a game on my PC and came down later to tell me the internet had been swallowed. He wasn't kidding, it took the tech a week to get it back
erda ge*** in a bottle? and ge *** smart minus a vowel?
No; doubled third vowel
ah ty erda and hello there:)
Oh so funnt jaxx.
Hello
It wasn't at the time!
jaxx holy....! was it a virus?
Hi, Erda
Thanks erda, I didn't have those yet.
Hi jaxx
yes, one called Ashley. lol
jaxx what did the game actually do to the internet do you know?
My youngest is ALWAYS messing up our computers. He got the ICE virus on my husband's computer, and I worked for 3 days trying to get it off, working from the BIOS even. I had to get a techie friend to come fix it.
No. Mark, the tech, just struggled until it came back. Ashley is not allowed near this computer now.
i was hacked from fb have some malware in puter and msisng drivers etc.only know somewhat of how to fix it. Dont have the money to get it fixed if wented to either
jaxx how old is she?
He is 9 but he won't make 10 if he isn't careful.
rotfl..too young to have his own puter .. guess on some things parental controls wont help
Mlf, do you still have high school aged children? A lot of hs kids are taking computer repair classes now, and will do the work for cheap.
only have a cat ormal
never had kids
Hmm, maybe some friends' kids?
nope
i wouldnt trust a teenager to fix a computer anyway
He has a tablet. Watching him tapping away on that makes me feel old.
How about a local college?
i have a brother that could if he could get here or had the time but i dont need a lecture or any of either of their opinions one bro did that to me over the phone he is a complete idiot and thinks everything can be fixed with the snap of a finger
i wanted an ipad once but i wouldnt know what to do with it. Not all apps are free and downloading takes a lot of memory and space. If i cant use it for facebook..no thanks
My brother usually walks me through my issues, but I didn't have the remote software on my husband's computer and the ICE virus boots and overrides everything.
I have a brother like that. I used to send him snippets that had amused me but he always disects them and tells arrogantly that that doesn't work. I don't bother now.
my bro siad to jsut reinstall stuff .what a pain in the you know what
jaxx i could fix it but some parts to do so would take a long time
gtg
Reinstalling works if you buy the backup disk...
I send Mark £10 a month and if he needs to he visits, if not he will do it remotely from his home.
Bye, mlf
Bye mlf

Great clue Molly.
does anyone know how hurshy is doing?
no- i wish i did TO. i cant concentrate today- 25 left- not sure if i will bb- have a good one all!
hagd, wolvie.
this grid does not promote concentration.
hurshy pops in from time to time over on Iron Sudoku ..
ty for the update, tor
anyone have in7 to share?
Anyone have the en7 that could clue me in?
In7 is not useful....
Nvm, I found en7.
gerund og word before it
ty
time to get movin, happy babbling to all.
Bye TO, hagd
Hurshy does not babble any longer
because of the previous problem?
Yes
too bad.
I agree
she was a great player.
She was funny
yes
Is that a tenrec, hego?
give that girl a prize!!
what problem caused us to lose hurshy?
someone made her feel uncomfortable.
ah. that sucks
en+girl's name-2nd vowel and gerund ending = en7
You are the first to recognize the tenrec, Jes.
was i? hah. kind of funny - i don't think i'd heard of them before I started babble, but they're fascinating critters
I must learn more about them.
Maybe a weee bit more than uncomfortable
agreed
creeped out?
dare i ask who, ruru?
Not in the chat
Pe00ple are watching
:)
ah, sorry
pretty creepy eyes there, ruru :)
it's a clue
yah, i thought it was :D
Totally
and i find the eyes creepy too... but am stubborn enough to ignore creepy and enjoy the game and other company anyway.
me too jes. good philosophy.
Well, you might feel differently if someone was making you feel stalked.
maybe
I might, depending on how stalkery they were. up to a pretty serious point though, i'd be inclined to continue on with my normal so as not to give them the win.
Also, I wish people understood that photographs you post on Facebook are not private no matter what your settings are.
as i said, i'm stubborn. and until i feel physically threatened (which takes a lot) i won't back down from someone's assholery.
We should always keep that in mind Molly.
nothing on the internet is private...
assholery should be ignored at all costs.
Neither is anything you write for that matter. It can all be copied and emailed to people.
Molly..wanted to tell you..I got a total refund on that food from yesterday!
Assholery...love that comment
me too
Good for you Mimi, and good for the restaurant.
sadly, i've gotten rather good at dealing with generalized assholery.... there's a lot of it out there, and I seem to pick jobs that attract it.
I wonder if you could add that to your resume, under EXPERIENCE. "Expertise in dealing with assholery"
anyone who deals with the public everyday is an expert.
hehe. yup. right next to "rode an alpaca", and "bottle raised a bat" :D
I didn't want to get nasty (though I was prepared to do so), but I was adamant I wanted a full refund. The mgr. offered to make me another order but I declined in favor of the refund. I had already called my bank and they were going to dispute the charge formally if it was not refunded. It wasn't all that much money but it was the principle.
qu7??
Just wanted to fill you in. Mimi is nobody's fool, 'ya know! Later.
it's true, hego - all public service jobs get crazies. animal control/enforcement and medical seem to attract a really high volume of both guilt trips and threats though.
Everyone is happy and they will keep your business because of that. Good form.
I waitressed in my youth, oh brother.
Hego q7- lining up
ty! never see that one!
Some people adopt a "you are the hired help" demeanor and the way they treat others is deplorable.
Yw ;)
Ormal, get in li4 for the PB. Lots of people going in there today for cluing the qu7
I loved waitresses in my youth
:)
why the past tense, ruru?
I specialized in side work
His youth is over. :)
side work?
I have applied for sainthood and have to be celibate
whether you like it or not. lol
no, i meant the past tense on love - why would you stop loving them just because you got older?
you picked the wrong church, mate
Apparently :D
:)
I can't wait for the evangelical, brother love's traveling salvation TV show.
If I know Ru, he would rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.

It seems as though people email less since the advent of Facebook. And that is a shame for those who are not on Facebook.
I agree. I may even write to her. Actually, write. That will become obsolete. Alas.

The difficulty of this game is in the fact that words are often stacked up (or down, or sideways) in ways that are hard to see. I don't think DUH applies in most cases.
