Hi there, Rose....how be ye?
NBT, 20 left. This game is going super fast, since I wasn't even here at the flip.
i'm off to slumber as welll with lots of work left for tomorrow. nite all
doing well thanx peach, and your good self?

I'm ok tonight, thanks Rose.
almost messed that up...
Ruru isn't logged in.....anyone know if he is well?
he was okay last night peach. worn out, but he said he was okay.
Thanks, Rose.
he worked last week, despite being so ill on the weekend. i am hoping he is resting if not sleeping.
Right.
Right.
hi.
'Bout time.
I was resting.. after my idiot of the week moment
see i told you peach. good for you ruru, resting as you should.
Were you the idiot or is it a good story?
Well, we don't want him to think he's missed or anything like that.
oh I was an idiot.. and it is a good story
Do tell.
ooh, did I arrive at a good storytime? ;) - hi all!
I am hoping for a bedtime story from ruru.
*battening down the hatches*,<----ducking under table. okay, ruru, let her rip.
So I buy a ticket to a show for a comedienne that I was interested in seeing.. and was rushing around all day to get stuff done, walk the dog, eat dinner, take a shower and get dressed for the show.. and I drive down to the theater (5 minutes from my house) and it is all locked up and dark
nooo!
and the show was last night...
nooooooooo!!! I was afraid that was coming. What a drag.
Dont you just hate when that happens?
I had it in my brain it was Saturday .. so last night I was just sitting at home with nothing to do and missed the whole thing.. what a dummy
roflolol....<----stuffing pillow in mouth to stifle guffaws.
AAWW. That is sad.
i cracked up.. and looked in the mirror in my car and said what a dumbshit
the ticket was on my fridge and i never looked at it
Since you were all dressed up with no place to go I hope you went to a movie or something.
ruru, after the week you've just had, that has to be the cherry on top. never mind, mate. it's all down-hill from now on.
lol..I hope so gr.. I have pissed away a lot of dough on nothing this week
now mate, what you have paid for this week was worth every penny...you are still here to tell the tale, and that's what is important.
I am glad I don't usually have to run to the ER for sure.. i'd be broke if I had to do that more often
(((((((ru)))))))
Glad you are well again ruru. Goodnight friends.
night bugs
Gooooooooooood morning fellow Babblers xx
np's ruru. we would pass the hat around....mind you it might only be a baseball cap and not the stetson
yahooo, g'day worzel. {{hugs}} xxxxxxxx
Good morning Mum xx ((((hugs)))) back xx
how is the battle of the insects going?
Mum I'm getting (if you'll pardon the pun, not intended) sorely annoyed! I am going to the doctor tomorrow. The original sores are starting to fade now (after nearly two weeks) but I am still being bitten by something and acquiring new sores. The only thing I can think of is to buy some kind of insect repelling cream, assuming you can get such a thing in cream form. Thanks for asking though xx
ugh, bed bugs?? perhaps ?? scabies??
I had thought of scabies myself, but have seen scabies in action on other people and they generally only attack under collars and cuffs. These little sods are going for my back and hips and lower legs and, dare I say, my bum (although I would have thought my arse was enough to scare anything away to be honest!)
is it only in ed, or when you sit on soft furniture, like a couch or sofa?
*bed*
May I please have a clue for sc5-12 the 4th? Thanks
I don't know, to be honest. I think it must be my new flat because I do spend a lot of time at Di's and she and the dog don't seem to have any problem. I do have a new sofa but that is leatherette and probably wouldn't carry anything (plus I haven't really used it yet). The bed base is brand new, but the mattress is Di and mine's old one and the first night I slept in the flat I did notice a flea in the mattress. Thing is I've never been bitten by fleas before, but then, they could be using me as a host now they haven't got the dog to pick on, little sods!!
sc5/12, to keep a tally of points in a game...or to give a fright to someone.
sc 5 loose rocks on a hill peach
sc5/12, to ridicule....or sc5/12, loose gravel on beach,slope
worzel, do you have carpet?
Thanks, ru and Rose.....I have the ridicule one....will look more.
Not yet. The only fabric I have in my place is the mattress, curtains and net curtains so I think it is probably the mattress. Our poor doggie was pickled with fleas at times, and it says online the eggs can survive in a mattress for up to two years so if they've just started hatching and only have me to go for then that probably explains it
peach, the sc5, 4th one uses double vowel
Have it now. Thanks so much.
sc5/20 - a wood "fastener" (anything to say, ru?) ;)
do you have access to a carpet steamer. it can be used on mattresses. and would/should kill the little beggars.
my favorite pastime you mean rb?
and there are additives to the carpet steamer solution that fight critters
that's the one, I'm sure, ru! :)
Di has a carpet washing vaccuum but I don't think that'll work lol - it'll be too cumbersome to put on the bed. No, I think I'm gonna have to buy something to kill them, or use some white vinegar. That usually does the trick xx
and past tense...
mostly past tense here at our house, sadly... :(
yeah.. well.. i'm taking a hiatus from that word to for a while
just had to chime in......talcum powder and salt will kill them
fleas?
yes
Thank you Kalea I'll give that a go. Is that either product on their own, or a mixture of the two together?
talcum powder attracts them to one area and salt kills them.........that way you get them all
Right, Kalea, thank you. I shall give that a try later on xx
I used to get the plastic mattress covers for the kids' beds when we were dealing with head buggins - wash everything in hot water, debug the kids, and spray the heck out of the mattresses and then seal them in those covers. Made for waterproofing, but did the trick. Crackle a bit when rolling over, but only needed for a month or so, according to what I read. If you get desperate. :)
can always tone down the crackle with a mattress pad, too.
you make it sound like a breakfast cereal rb :D
old wives' tricks... I got a million of 'em.
I can live with the crackle if it stops me getting bitten. There are some very good ideas on here and I shall try them all. Thank you rbud xx
you could always try flea shampoo, lol!! :)
all over body wash, heeheehee!
Hadn't thought of that!
it's only pyrethins, made from what, daisies? crysanthemums? (sp?)
chrysanths, according to google
although in the UK we are lazy with our spelling and usually write xanths
well there you go! I never knew the sunflower was a member of the Chrysanth family. Well I'll be blowed!
I used to use flea shampoo on the kids' hair about once a month when they were in school, preventative measures, it also fights the head critters. same stuff in that treatment, flea shampoo much less concentrated.
if you read the boxes, it's like the exact same ingredients, but flea shampoo much cheaper. But we're not talking head bugs, hopefully, lol.
Maybe you could just roll in a flower bed, worzel! :D
maybe with all that salt on the floor, the bugs would have a margarita party
lol!! just a splash of tequila...
The other problem I have is that, although I'm not obsessed, I don't like using chemicals a great deal and prefer the herbal approach so I may go down that route. Am just doing some research at the moment online so if I miss your comments I do apologise xx
now you got me reading about pyrethrins - hmmm, dangerous to fish and cats in too high a concentration... but not mammals in general, including us. Interesting.
i'll be back in a bit. I need a coffee and to make a shopping list xx *mini-poof*
well, best of luck with it, I've gone far enough here to make me content, later, all! :)
good morning all
over halfway... back in a bit
cooee and g'day from me. sprite!! your beautiful child is in the grid.
good morning dear rose
so she is... not valid though :(
and my dog is a phantom today
hello sweetheart. just watching a fascinating program on funerals of the various beliefs.
ashes to ashes? :P
some....the hindu funeral is amazing.
rituals are so important for mourning
sprite, you should be proud of me. i skipped the weekly cleaning of our bathroom, i damp dusted instead. i didn't finish the washing until late this afternoon, and i have only just remade our bed with it's clean linen.
I AM proud of you. That took a lot of self control. Well done, lady :)
we went to church this morning, came home and put on the 3rd load of wash, then went for a drive to the honey farm where we had lunch.
is your body rewarding you with less symptoms?
absolutely. although making the bed puffed me out. and you darling? how are you? are you pretty much on your own at the moment?
Could I get a clue for tr6, please?
close your eyes sprite
tr6, t + half my name + vehicle
hm already have it, lol.
oh good, didn't want to spoil your game, hun
:) luv u!
thanks
and a few clues don't spoil my game, ever. I only start feeling bad when there are too many clues.
np's marc
that left bottom corner is so dead
brb, must hang up a load of laundry or my travel-nervous husband will go bananas
sad isn't it? i mean surely fstt is a word...the sound a tire makes, deflating after picking up a nail through it.
sorry...tyre....I'M NOT TIRED!!!
going for some dinner...catch you in a while. xoxox
I found a word that ends with that N. Sad in itself, lol. Enjoy your dinner, darling.
make that two
the cat that used to own me always said mrrrw.
back....lol, dear...put it in the dictionary....sound a cat makes when encouraging it's human to hurry up.
lol indeed. Is it good enough for the dictionary, though?
well, we've all heard it...
true. In it goes :)
there are 4 words ending with that n, sprite
hm, two more to find then. Thanks :)
oh man, I had the cobs but not the squirrel food. Babble blindness strikes!
ugh, my left hand is so itchy, the palm is inflammed from the FM. oh, and sprite we had our first frost overnight, only about 6 weeks later than usual. and on our drive i noticed wattle coming into bloom, 4 weeks early. go figure!!
weather and nature are going crazy, world wide. We are in for interesting times.
sorry about your hand, rose :( *Gentle healing vibes your way*
sometimes, it helps to pinch close to the itchy area.
so, sprite. did you answer me? how are you? am i right in thinking you are more or less on your own?
not yet. Tomorrow morning I am going to drop them off at canoe club. And then I go home... to be all alone... until the boyo decides to come home. And hopefully alone again after he goes to a friend for a couple of days.
and I am ok. Weather is very hot and humid here, lots of thunderstorms. So am headachy, overall blech and like an elephant is sitting on top of me. But otherwise I am healthy and well.
ohhhh, i bet you are looking forward to it....as much as you love them, some precious time alone is soooo nice.
naughty elephant, get off sprite. * shakes finger at elephant* there, there sprite. it's gone now take a deep breath, and say....i'm gonna be free...
sprite, weather hot and humid, you have headache...could you be low in fluids? you could try a large glass of water and see if that helps.
I love them to pieces. But yes, some time alone is wonderful.
no, it is the air pressure, rose. When a thunderstorm threathens, I get this awful headache. Once it breaks through, my headache disappears.
i know, when you can scratch, fluff, burp whatever, and not excuse yourself to anyone.
lolololllllll how sophisticated! I love you :D What I love is following my own rhythm. And the peace and quiet.
sprite, do you have a sinus issue, or middle/inner ear issue?
not that I am aware
where do you feel the pressure?
behind my eyes, brow, temples and up to the top of my head.
try pressing on your cheekbones just below your eyes. then just above your eyes.
ok, done that
did it hurt, cause you pain?
no, not especially
okay, not facial sinuses. but the other areas correspond to deeper sinuses in the brain tissue. have you tried a cool pack on the back and sides of your neck .
yeah, tried all that. Warm, cold, you name it, I tried it. Guess I am just too sensitive to weather changes. My grandma was the same.
what i am trying to do is equalise the pressure within your head with the atmospheric pressure
yes that makes sense
fireflies!
oh, have you had you ears checked? do you have 'glue' behind the ear-drums?
WTG SPRITE!!!
ears are clear
hmmm interesting. logically, warm weather is high pressure...sooo you have to increase the pressure in your head...now that will be interesting...
yeah it is not the warm weather that does it, but the thunderstorm front.
ahhhh, CPAP!!!! the machine blows air into your head/lungs and increases the pressure in your head.
same with snow. Ah well, my grandma was proof you can grow old with it ;) Thanks for trying to help me, dear friend.
so it doesn't matter if it's summer or winter...it's just the storm?
lol, of course, will buy one of those machines just for thunderstorms and snow :D Not like they cost a lot of money or anything, lololollllll
yep, thunderstorms and snow.
well, hire on when you think a storm may be imminent within the next few weeks...it's worth a try if it rids you of those headaches.
well, hire on when you think a storm may be imminent within the next few weeks...it's worth a try if it rids you of those headaches.
it is definitely worth a try. Thanks dear rose :)
sorry, hiccup caught me unawares
it has a tendency to do that, grin. Stupid hiccup. Oh rose, you'd laugh yourself silly here today. My husband is getting ready for the trip and is so restless! And my daughter has everything organised and is lying on her bed reading.
so... of course her dad keeps calling to her... do you have this? Yes dad... Did you think about that? Yes dad... Give me your pillow... I need that tonight, still, dad...
of course she is, she's female. lolol...you should see us here when packing for a holiday
I am hiding in my room, grin. Better stay out of his way.
don packs his bag, and when i come into the room with arms full of clean washing, he says oh i wondered where that was...now i can pack it...lolol
worst of all is, Rob can't wait very well. Once he has everything organised, he wants to leave. But Caya must work a couple of hours today, so they cannot leave until morning. Lol, poor man.
i can see why rob would be frustrated...he doesn't want to e late, of course....
hahahaha exactly. Rob gave me one of his shirts and a short this morning and said: This must be clean before tonight! I said, clean is never a problem. Dry, now, that is another story. Lol.
the river they are gonna canoe on has record water levels at the moment. Normal is between 0.5 and 1 metre. It is close to 6 metre right now.
and then don stands there and says why haven't you packed your bag? when i have been running in and out of the laundry, folding, sorting, ironing, mending...* eyes rolling*
whahahaha too true!
the river sounds good, but it must be fast flowing if the level is so high.
yes, definitely sounds that way. Should be interesting. I hope they are gonna have a splendid time there.
does the boyo ever join with rob on a canoeing adventure?
not anymore. He is lazy as can be.
am gonna try to promote the idea, though. Would be good for the both of them.
ahhhh, but there is still time to join in when the boyo is older, i hope. when he realises how much fun he has missed out on doing.
yes, I hope so too. Right now he is more interested in spending time with his friends, which is exactly what he should be doing at his age. But once in while, a single night... yeah, would be a good idea.
if you could get the boyo in an unguarded moment, and plant the thought...like i bet dad and caya are having a ball today....
ok, time for me to get some stuff done. A big *hug* for you, dear friend. I hope you will sleep well. Did the truckload of angels help?
yes, my love. i slept well, praying for another good night. hope you day is kind to you.
thank you. *hugs* and lots of love.
and to you all, lurking or otherwise: a blessed day and a peaceful night.
good morning everyone
state
oops
good morning
Thanks for that early help :)
howdy, sukee
nice to see some life finally:)
look like it's been a bit dead.
It was the same time last time I was here.
aussies are heading to bead the euros are having lunch and everyone else is still asleep it seems
bed
I'm barely awake myself :)
ok, have 24 words and stuck already :)
work with the w. it is used a lot
Morning! It's 4:30 here and I've been up for 2 hours already and gotten half my day's work done! What is WRONG with me?!!!
((mimi))
lol, mimi. bed time for you tonight will be 6 pm!
hi mimi, I'm impressed
((crossy))
Hi, sukee....I'm just so weird.
That's the problem, I think. I've been falling asleep early, so wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep....am tired early again the next day...and so on. Need to break the cycle.
I went to bed at 01:00 and was up at 05:00 so it is not so weird. I do not sleep so much as cat nap these days
I've never been a "good sleeper" and find that I'm actually better with 4-5 hours than with 8...I am perkier with less sleep, although my doctor isn't happy about that.
It is funny. All my full time working like I cursed the alarm clock. Now that I am semi-retired, and no longer need to be ruled by it, my eyes pop open at 5 am
I'm lucky if I get 6 hours at night, I like afternoon naps too
life
Yep, me too crossy. Then again, I also have a cat who helps.
I ADORE my afternoon power nap. that is most likely the problem
I'm no good at taking naps....wish I could. It's really hard for me to shut my brain down enough to sleep.
I get more good rest in that hour an a half mid-day than i do all night
I know, yesterday I have a 2 hour nap after lunch :)
ok, have 51 words now
Crossy, Winston Churchill was a great believer in cat naps and was able to function around the clock during crises by taking naps.
...Mimi tidbit of the day!
I so want to use the word duet...
hey! no stealing my thunder, mimi! :)
You just did!
Your thunder is safe, crossy.
lol
:D
Wow...I really don't like this grid. Think I'll get back to work for a bit and then have brekkies. I want to do some writing today as well....gotta get that took done!
and now it is time for Crossy's word of the day!
The "pound" key on your keyboard (#) is called an octotroph.
Why? Are there 8 lines in it?
yes, was going to ask you if that book was done yet lol
Ah, the hashtag :)
rees
seer
wrong box, grant
How did it get to be called the pound key?
sorry
No teasing now, crossy...I'm not as disciplined as you are, sorry to say.
lol, I am still a long way from done as well, mimi, not to worry
It's the symbol for pound, I believe.
brb, must put laundry in dryer
HAGD, crossy...I'm outta here. Hugs all around.
take care
It should not be called the pound key. It is an octothorps.
That is what crossy said :)
Sorry - octothorpe. (What is with the Automatic Wrong Speller)
anyway, 46 left, time for breakfast
not to worry, godthaab, i already posted the correct word:) snap :)
*Imagines what callers would do if the recorded voice said "Enter your account number followed by the octothorpe"
Molly - I wish they would! What the hell is a pound key?
I just looked it up. There are two ways of saying that!
Here is an article that discusses the origin of the term "pound key" http://tinyurl.com/3ytdbw9
guess the rest of the planet has to call it the kilogram key
or the .45 kilo key
indeed
hahahaha
Of course it also means "number" as in use a #2 Pencil
hi all, yep, i'm up early today
howdy,gwen
just read the chat, and so i have to mention, one of my hobbies is collecting names for punctuation and stuff. for the pound sign i have these: number sign, numero sign, noughts-and-crosses, chickenscratch, crosshatch, comment sign, fence, gate, grid, gridlet, hex, octothorn, octalthorpe, octothorp, pig pen, sharp, sharp sign, space sign, square, tic-tac-toe, widget mark
now you have to add hash-tag
Octothorpe sounds so engineer-y
ack, i missed hashtag! thank phaeton! (you are in one of my other collections, names for types of cars and carraiges) 8-)
:-)
(oh, yes, i do have that, as well as hash, hash mark, and hash sign)
lol, I like it gwen:) though noughts-and-crosses is just another name for tic-tack-toe
some of these terms are used by engineers (and puter programmers), some by editors, etc
as a collector i do not discount slang, or names used by children, or whatever. i just collect
it is interesting, all the different applications of the exact same symbol
here is an interesting history of the "@" symbol... http://tinyurl.com/ksbfn8y
once i read a short story written in the 19th century, and every times someone got into a carriage, it didn't just say carriage, it said something specific, like a barouche or a hansom or a surrey, so i had to start that collection
visiting your link now, crossy
Another punctuation mark word that will get you a blank stare is ampersand. &
Or ellipsis ...
one of my faves is the interrobang
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interrob\nang
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interrob\nang
(the chat room keeps breaking the link, sorry!)
i once had a client order a book over the phone, and give his company name with an ampersand in it, and then he spelled "ampersand" for me, so i wrote it out on the shipping label. LOL

Hi kj
hola
ru
cold in the city yesterday
indeed
very foggy
I showed up in my shorts and t-shirt since it was 90 up here
we went up to the top of mt tam last night for the astronomy night - great viewing as the cities below were blanketed in fog cutting down on most of the ambient light
you'd think I'd know better
omg - you must have frozen... just like a tourist, rookie mistake!
nah.. i'm a little hot-blooded
do you drive up to somewhere on Tam? is there an observatory/
the astronomers from around the SF area all take their telescopes up and set them up viewing specific objects, up near the mountain theatre at the top of the mountain
long windy drive up, nerve-racking windy drive down as you have to go through the fog to get down
I never knew about that.. see you're more local than I am
we saw a phenom meteor shoot by, part of perseides, just while standing there getting oriented - brightest biggest one I've ever seen
plus, the space station went by last night, also easy to see
I remember a great meteor shower when I lived in Oregon.. it was amazing
I'd love to go to an observatory at night sometime
through the telescopes we saw several nebula, M22 and M7 and M3 start clusters, twin stars, dust clouds, lots of stuff - truly amazing
hi all! I've been enjoying the astronomical discussion :-)
wow, kje, sounds like a great time
hi all
the peak of the perseides is on the 13th, but it is right after a full moon so not much is expected given too much light from the moon
I didn't know you knew so much about astronomy
but the perseides starting mid-July and I think go until mid august, so can still see some
I don't - just what I have learned from the geeks on the mountain!
ah
they were a friendly bunch
7 left - will list so I can get on with my day!
fw!
hagd all
bye doc
Hi folksies
*Puts on straw hat and overalls to look folksy*
Has any one here ever had vertigo. I had it Friday night into Sat. and I wouldn't wish it on anyone
Yes, often, it's awful. (I get dizzy from heights)
Not only did I suffer from nausea and vomiting, I couldn't walk without someone holding me.. Mr. Bich took me to the doctor who gave me a medicine.
my beloved had a horrible period of vertigo. It took a while but it was finally traced back as an obscure side-effect to a medication she was taking for a bladder issue
Sorry to hear that Bich. I don't get the nausea and vomiting, but I do feel like the ground is not quite beneath my feet.
I've had motion sickness and dizziness from being on a boat or plane. But this was much worse.
Any idea what caused it?
No, but it could be age related.
What, so you're just a dizzy old broad? : D
The meds made me sleep all day yesterday. I hate being in bed
That's about says it Molly
Ah well, you are not alone. : )
That's what I love about the Babble community. So many people around my age
babble is largely 50+ and 90% female:) Us fellas are rare and must pace ourselves;)
I guess lots of men don't want to be dong word games on line. What are they doing, mowing the lawn?
dong word games?
I Have always been a wordie, and a bibliophile. Needed it 6 years ago to resharpen my mind
Mr. Bich will enter a few words from time to time, but he wouldn't do it from start to finish
I guess people would Groin instead of Groan in those games
?
at 6/24?
no at 6
as 6 is to wander
sorry, my bad, but ty ruru
ty for as 6 ru

As a rule, males generally play other types of games on the computer.
what kind of games./
I went through that phase, and still pull the out of storage on occasion, but my interests have changed over the years
Well, I was thinking of role playing games, but there are others.
I was bit into First person shooter type games.
oh those.. I don't see the interest in those games.. weird to me
then I dabbled in massive multi rpg style games, but it became tiresome over time
I have pc games in storage spanning almost 20 years;)
good thing about my definition of pc game enjoyment is that I am no longer shelling out 300-400 dollars for the latest, bleeding edge video card hardware.
I only play two on-line games.. that's plenty for me
...and this one is VERY time consuming
Between Babble and QP and daily crossword puzzles, I'm wiped out
I find it interesting how our computer entertainment taste evolve
Hello babbleworld and hi to crossy, ruru and bichon!

there, the crew is all fed. Chicken breast burgers with romaine lettuce, 5 year old apple wood smoked white cheddar, fried Valencia onions and a bacon/ranch cream sauce. also on offer were bacon /cheddar perogies, first lightly boiled then pan seared in creamery butter with fresh sour cream, diced onions, shredded cheddar and various secret herbs and spices.
food porn crossy style:)
My famous crescent roll apple dessert is for later on:)
crossy, even if I had just eaten, your descriptions of the chefs meals that you serve would make me hungry again. My mouth waters....lol
lol, it is more complex than it seems. many of the ingredients transfer to the other dish
the same onions and cheese are in both, just cooked and presented differently
just the same, I blame you for any weight I gain, just reading about your fab meals.
lol, crossy is naughty
yes, you are, but keep up the naughtiness
and the 5 year old Quebec apple wood smoked cheddar is a staple in our fridge. it is amazing how far you can make a pound of it go.
cheddar is my favorite cheese, but also like too many others as well.
there is no such thing as too much cheese
agree to that
guess I will go and conjure up something for dinner, it certainly won't be as yummy as yours.
I am sure it will be amazing
you are too, too kind.
Wow crossy, you eat fancy
that is not every day fare.
We have home-made pizza every Sunday evening
though i enjoy seeing what i can achieve with what are really quite simple ingredients
My beloved , due to her eye issues, is unable to cook as she would like, and I make it my mission to prepare interesting but budget-wise meals for her.
Bich, home made pizza is the best : D
we used to have home made pizza a fair bit when we were children. Kraft had this pizza kit and all us kids would get in on the action and some pretty inventive toppings made thier way onto it
I'm guessing Bich's home made pizza is a lot better than a Kraft kit.
I am sure it is
Hello all
I like to make tortilla pizza.
Those are good, Sukee
howdy sukee
I just had home made fajitas for dinner
They are good but I always pay for it :) If you know what I mean.
mmm.. good eats
Hello everybody. Molly - long time no see. Hey Cross, Sukee, Bich, Nancy et al. I had a Full Irish for breakfast all of 12 hours ago, and am still full to the gills!
howdy, soodles
hi Soodle
Fajitas are good too Sukee, I love Mexican food.
mmm @ full irish:)
The Boy Wonder (formerly known as Son of Soodle) took his aged Mama out for breakfast this morning. It was delightful.
a full irish: http://tinyurl.com/qz66fle
oh boy, that would kill me :)
I do like black pudding, never had white.
Almost like a "full crossy" breakfast:))
I don't think I will need to eat again till Tuesday!
I feel that way right now :)
Hi soodle, crossy and sukee
Hi jaxx
howdy jaxx
White pudding is called Hogs pudding here in the West Country.
He spent the last 4 or 5 days over in Galway at the Galway Races. He didn't see a horse,or put a bet on, but he came home in flitters. There was a lot of drink drank!! And hi Jaxx :-)
'flitters'?
Tatters, bits, a shadow of his former self....
..... Hungover!....
Thanks. never heard the term before.
I shall now use it and bemuse all around me.
Spent the 4 or 5 days fluthered.
15 of them went. They rented a house. I didn't get the full story (obviously), but I gather that there was no end of divilment...
Good for them. hangovers are for the young. they get over them quicker
LOL Molls. Got it in one!
For the record, Jaxx, it's pronounced Flithers.... as in Fluthered, as Molly correctly stated!
good thing there wasn't any Tar around
lol, ru
Ah! Ru. I was hoping to catch up with you. I read with horror how much you had to pay at the ER last weekend. Quick question... If you were (like me) living from payday to payday, and just did not have 800 dollars to hand, what would have happened?
If there was they probably would have drank it. You know how it goes, 15 guys, they drink anything that gets in their way.
I haven't stopped paying yet Soodle.. just got another bill from the hospital for $673
good job they didn't get as far as the races.
Hospitals here will take payments on time. This I know.
and ask for an itemized bill, ruru
Good grief! So, at the time of your arrival at the hospital, and you did not have the money, what would have happened?
I don't know.. soodle.. I didn't really have any options
Ru, what did you do?
hi all
Hi, peri
And, (dare I mention it..), where does Obamacare come into all this?
Like I said Soodle, they will accept payment over time. I am one of the millions of Americans with no health insurance. I know this drill.
I went out with some friends for lunch and ordered a salad sans Nuts (which the server said wouldn't be a problem for the kitchen) and I started eating the salad and there were nuts in there hidden. I had to go to the hospital before I couldn't breathe any longer
first cr6/21 pls
When you say 'over time' Molly, do you mean that you are sick in August 2014, and you could possibly be still paying for that illness in April 2017? What if you get sick again in the meantime? I'm sorry if I am being stupid here, but I'm trying to figure out how it works..
that must have bee soooo scary, ruru
been, even
You set up a payment plan with the hospital, based on your income.
Oh, heavens Ru. Do you carry an epipen all the time?
And I won't comment on Obamacare because nothing I have to say would be "pleasant".
I had one in the car.. first time I have ever had to use it
Again, so glad I live in Canada :)
Ru, do you wear a medic alert bracelet?
no..I don't
Good job you had it there. Don't forget to replace it.
Canada, the US, you pay for it one way or the other. Canadians pay for it all up front in taxes.
I have a new one i'm picking up tomorrow jaxx
I am glad to pay for it in taxes, I have had several treatments that would have cost me far too much money.
Good. My BIL is allergic to bee and wasp stings after a close encounter with a nest in one of the bushes in his garden. he wears a medic alert bracelet and carries the pen all the time.
So, to date, Ru, you have forked out over 1,500 dollars to treat an event which was totally avoidable? I would be seeing my legal advisors, and attempting to recoup from the restaurant.
that's how hospitals work here.. they bill Blue SHield and bill me for the difference that Blue Shield won't pay
I have written to the restaurant owner.. so far haven't heard anything back.
You can appeal the decision made by BC and BS
I agree with soodle. You could easily have died because someone ignored your request for no nuts.
I hate blue shield
I was hoping at the very least the owner would advise the kitchen and staff of their responsibilities to allergy requests
The health system here in this country is an absolute joke, but nobody would ever have to pay more than €100 for emergency treatment.
A legal letter might carry more weight
Everything legal is on your side Ru. I'll be surprised if the restaurant doesn't cover your medical expenses. That's what they have insurance for.
I agree, Molls.
I think so.. she's a friend of mine
and a good customer
Be back later
bye, Sukee
first cr6/21 pls
I don't have it peri, sorry
So, (I'm trying to get this straight in my head..) A person presents at the ER. They have no money. Which happens first... treatment, or an assessment of their ability to pay?
cr6/21, sounds like what you iron in your slacks
ty Molly
depends on the severity of the situation I think Soodle
Treatment Soodle. It's against the law for any US hospital to deny treatment based on inability to pay.
ty, molly
I came in and was in a treatment room within minutes
I daresay, you might have died.
Ok. Thats good.
yeah.. think of all the candles in the icons that would have happened then
Not the point.
Ru, I would have taken up a collection for flowers but, well, you know.
HAHA.. you'd have to leave that to WIldcat molly
she's great at collections
ROFL. I''m thinking of that scene in Oklahoma when Jed dies..... Pore Ru is dead, a candle lights his head....
I will promise a hell of a wake, should you meet your untimely demise.
that's nice
I'll even drink wine, swear to God.
We'll all be in flitters!
I bought a bottle of really nice cognac yesterday.. you can have that
I'll leave my car to you to Molly
We'll be blethered.
So, Ru? How does it feel to be planning your funeral?
I don't know soodle.. not sure I've urned the right to yet
Please don't answer that...
I would drive it in the custom you would expect Ru.
:D
it's four wheel drive so it'd be great in the snow
I'm liking the idea of Ru living to a ripe old age and becoming the chef to the "seasoned generation".
And the provider of fine wines....
hi all!
Hi Sue ((()))
hi soodle, molly, ruru!
How YOU doing, Sue?
I have to live to 90 just to drive a few people here batty :D
I am ok, soodle, doing a lot of fooling around on the computer to keep my mind busy
Only the good die young they say ru
As for the entire experience Ru, all I can say is, oh nuts! (someone had to do that)
well in that case.. I will live a lot longer
Whatever gets you through the night, my friend, Sue. :-)
indeed, soodle!
Sending positive mojo your way, Sue.
thank you, Molly! I need all I can get right now...
Goodnight all
night, jaxx!
I am truly scaring the living daylights out of our local priest. I asked him to say a Mass for a dear Babble friend a few weeks ago. Then I asked for a Mass to be said for a family member, then I asked for a Mass for Frank. And all of this from a non-Mass goer....
Goodnight Jaxx. Sleep well.
ah, thank you, soodle!
and fireworks!
I think the priest thinks I'm hitting on him....
hitting on a priest, eh? seems a bit pointless...
Anyway, a Mass was said this morning for Frank, Sue. Certainly, no harm will come from it.
I'll let him know. I'm sure he will appreciate it (he was raised Catholic)
Do you have to pay extra as a non-Mass goer to have a Mass said? : )
Nope Moll. One price fits all.
If I lived where you live, I would find one of those old Irish women who says the rosary every day. From their mouths to God's ear.
Ah yes, my Portuguese ex-mother-in-law used to do that (rosaries many times a day)
John O'Donohue told a story about an old Irish woman that he asked for prayers. The next time he saw her, she grabbed his hand and said "I have you...every morning and every evening".
That would make me feel right in the palm of God's hand.
Sheesh! How many times must I tell you Molly. I AM one of those old Irish women? Except I don't appear to have God's ear. :-/ My elderly aunt, who is a nun, told me, after I bent her ear about how unfair life is, sometimes No is an answer.
Nuns love that one, sometimes no is an answer.
Funnily, I had never heard that one before, even though my entire educational life was dominated by nuns. It made me stop and think, though.
Well, alas, it's true. The way I've heard it there are three answers to prayer. Yes, no and wait. I get wait a lot.
hello everyone
I feel a Garth Brooks song coming on.... Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers.....
Hello Nan :-)
stats for the 2 word e, please?
Sorry Nan. Which words are you seeking stats for?
the e that begins 2 of the words
Mistakes Nan
Oh dammit, I'm sorry. You asked for stats. I will go sit with the dunce cap now.
ty -- blind to that one
I'll join you Molls. Bunch up...
While I'm there I will ponder why I should be grateful for unanswered prayers.
mine wouldn't be unanswered.. it would be more like.. "are you kidding me?"
Right out of the shoot, being grateful for unanswered prayers seems a little too Opus Dei to me.
Shuffling out of the way to make room for Ru to bunch up beside Molly.
Or the shute
I'll save the shoots to stave under my fingernails.
Sitting in the middle distance, examining fingernails, trying not to look as if I was Billy NoMates.
Snuffling.
*Hands Soodle the box of tissues* Billy NoMates...: D
Where is party boy tonight? Loading up cases of poteen to take back to "the other place"?
first cr 6, please?
c +_ peanut butter cups
ty ruru - new one for me
He is flying this time, which puts a serious stop to his gallop. He daren't take any sort of hooch on a plane. His finest (poteen) hour is when he is travellling by ferry.
And in answer to where is he?? Doh!!! Silly question. His gobaloon of a mother dropped him into the town earlier. More of the same....
Damn flying. Puts a serious crimp in the poteen smuggling.
Does gobaloon Mother have to go fetch him later?
There is a limit to how much of a gobaloon the mother is. He is heading back to the UK on Tuesday morning. He flies at 7.00. Which means he must be at the airport at 5.00. Which means we must be leaving our house at 4.00. I will NOT be collecting him from town tonight!
lady liberty can be pt?
Well, hopefully he will take some time to sleep, detoxify and shower before travel day on Tuesday.
Nan, you should know by now that in Enableworld, anything goes.
tr 6-7 combo, please?
Ends in autos
tr + vowel + auto
Ru and I are doing synchronized cluing
Don't count on the Russian Judges Molly
i am done... :oD
I don't count on any of the judges here at Babble.

Oh dear God, Weird Al has finally done something educational. I'll even forgive him for putting it to that heinous Robin Thicke song.

Bwah ha ha Nan
Hauling the old Soodle bones off to bed now. Goodnight all. And thanks for the company.
Goodnight gobaloon Mother. Sleep well and hope boyo is passed out somewhere safe.
going to try to download something....bye all!

Hello again babbleworld! Back to finish...53 to go!
We just watched the first episode of "The HOnorable Woman" on Sundance. It's a British show. Anyone here watch it?
Saw the previews, but no. Was it good?
It's good, but very confusing.
Story line confusing?
It seems to be purposely confusing. I need to read a synopsis.
Hmmm, now I'm i ntrigued!
plan to watch it On Demand but haven't yet -- had read exactly what you're saying, that it's very complicated
Cinematography is great.
and she's a terrific actress!

Thanks Ruru for the congrats and the kind words.
I can tell he was a once in a lifetime dog. I understand
My husband and I doted on him, he was our special little buddy. Although he thought he was the boss, of course!
westie's boss everybody
Quite the personality!!!
I bet
i trained with someone that showed her westie.. he was a total character
That's one of the traits we loved about him, his feistiness and stubborness, but he was also sweet and loving too! They really are something!
super smart dogs and very stubborn
I have a new dog.. but I'll never get over the loss of my last dog
What kind was your last dog and what do you have now?
golden retrievers
Ohhh, so beautiful and fun!
he's a lot of fun.. very silly dog
Well behaved too, I imagine.

I have to watch him like a hawk

Dylan
he's a nephew of my last dog

it's nice to see really nice people come back after they've been away
Thanks again Ruru it's nice to be back to some really nice people too!!!!!
