Hi y'all. I have words in My Word List but cannot get the orange boxes to come up to transfer them to Lickety....any suggestions? Thanks
peach - i only know to go out and come back in or refresh the whole page
Thanks much, ursh. I will do that now.
It doesn't want to accept my CA8 (plural of the CA7), even though it's on lickety's page? Anyone else having that problem?
there isn't a ca 8.. there's a cr8.. I am done with the c's
Thanks again. ursh. It worked.
Thanks again. ursh. It worked.
Wow, I just realized Lickety has 151 words, while the puzzle has only 150. I've never seen that before.

Hey there, Rose.
hey there peach. how are you hun? how's the vertigo?
Still have it Rose. Worse some days than others. Some days I can drive and others I wouldn't even try.
poor girl. it's a ghastly thing to have. i, fortunately, only have ever had it the once, with a viral infection.
I have it when I drink too much wine :D
It can be a wicked witch.
Hi again :)
Rose, how was Braxton's party?
It can be a wicked witch.
Hi Peach
Hi there Liz.
very loud, with lots of fun. apart from his own siblings there several young children of friend's of his parents. lucinda also had a clown come to entertain the kids.
Sounds cute :) And I hope ALL the family were OK.
my youngest son said to me...that's one clown you can't take home and put on the shelf, mum....lolol
lolol!!!!
yeah, well, i know when that particular person is nervous, he gets very loud, and that is exactly what he was....LOUD...*sigh*
Sigh. And his other half?
she's lovely, and as i predicted, she is a practicing catholic. * grin * so my next question is....okay son, you say i abused you by taking you to church and sunday school, what are you going to do now that your daughter is to become a practicing catholic, like her mother? hmmm??
she's lovely, and as i predicted, she is a practicing catholic. * grin * so my next question is....okay son, you say i abused you by taking you to church and sunday school, what are you going to do now that your daughter is to become a practicing catholic, like her mother? hmmm??
sorry, thought you might like to read this too, ruru, while liz is reading.
lolol!
Good thought - one to hold up your sleeve!
You must've been exhausted after the party.
yup, and i have a long sleeve to tuck it into...* giggle *
I'm sure you do!
is this the son that wasn't speaking to you rose?
i was liz. a bit of emotional strain as well...obviously. plus i had been awake since 3am. ugh!
Ugh! Have you had a relaxing afternoon - guess you went to church this am.
yes, ruru. nice bit of irony, don't you think?
yes.. but he came to the party?
of course...he doesn't have an issue with his brothers, at the moment.
that's a big step though.. don't you think?
ruru, he always turns up to family " do's " he just doesn't acknowledge my presence, although he speaks to don, very loudly, who is sitting right beside me. it's as if he's saying, see, mum, you don't deserve me to speak to you, but i will speak to the man whom i have declared i despise.
wow.
he's a sick puppy granny
that has to be very uncomfortable for you.
that's why i call him a hypocrit. like i've said before, he has a worm in his brain, and i have hos disgusting father to thank for that.
* his *
I'm sorry.. sounds like his brain is screwed up
ruru, i treat him the way i treated his father, ignore him as best i can, and if he happens to pass into my view, i turn my head away.
i'm surprised Don speaks to him to be honest
don doesn't know how my son truely feels about him. and i'm not going to tell him. at least this way, i do pick up snippets of his life.
besides, i cannot tell don to whom he should speak, or not speak. he's a big boy, and can make up his own mind. and i hope i am mature enough to not call don into judgement for the people he chooses to speak to.
How can Don not know he isn't liked by him?
because my son has never shown don that side of his face. he is very careful how he treats don because he knows don would put him down faster than he could blink. my son is a bully just like his father, and picks on people he thinks he can intimidate, i.e. his mother.
He must be a really good actor
ruru, it is only a few times each year when we are all together, since he won't celebrate easter or christmas with us. and definitely does not celebrate mother's day or father's day with either of us.
Still...
ruru, i don't know anymore, and i don't want to know.
Sure. Too much water under that bridge. I am sorry ...I just was shocked he came to a gathering
what, and miss an opportunity to rub salt into my wounds?? lol...i am over it, it really doesn't mean all that much to me now. if it comes across as a bitter tale because of my words, i apologise.
I am not one to comment on that. I haven't spoken to my mother since 1986
Night
sleep well, mate. maybe catch you tomorrow
okay, going for about 30 minutes. will pop in later and see if you all are okay.
Is the total for today 150 or 151
150
Thanks. Does Lickety have one extra word
150, gran. lickety has an extra ca8
g'day zooz. are you well today?
Hello, Rose, I am well thank you. How about yourself?
doing okay. will email you later with new developments with workcover.
Okey dokie...We are having the last bit of hurricane burther here. For me..some welcome water droplets..not keen on the wind though..lol
Bath water ready.Time for a nice soak.Back later.
sorry, crossy, much bigger email th4 i anticipated. ut i hope it keeps you in the loop. xoxox
* but *
enjoy your bath, mate. hope you emerge refreshed in more ways th4 one...lol
No problems, Rose, Will have my bath th4 read it. And it is zoozzoom by the way :-)
*poof*
ugh, mate...duh...i know that....zooz
sorry, mate. just checked...i sent to the correct person.
good morning all :)
have just eaten dinner....whoot...good morning my darling. {{hugs}} and xxxx
hi rose :) *hugs* Thought I would be too late to see you. So glad I am not.
love you, sprite. i am here
have you had a good-night?
am so glad. How are you today, dear friend?
yeah I guess. Hefty dreamwork. Just finished writing one down... might be a book in it. We will see. Am a bit shaky and wobbly as a result.
not too many problems today. went to church after a delightfully late start to my day.
oh nice! And did it go well in church?
awww, spritey!! gentle hugs and lots of butterfly kisses.
i sat down about 1/2 way through. left ankle sooo sore. * sigh *
I often dream stuff that is right out of a very tense thriller, lol. Makes me feel rotten. But might be inspirational nevertheless.
am glad you were wise enough to go sit down. I really think you should, for now, sit through the whole service, darling. Be kind to your body. Standing is one of the most taxing things on a body. Worse than walking.
yeah, i know, hun. if you care to scroll back through chog earlier, you will find just what i am going through re workcover. they are so sneaky.
hm ok, gonna look it up then
* giggle * i told brother and his wife how our mother invades my dreams...surprise, surprise!! he is going through the exact same experience.
oh wow, that is special. But not too surprising, seeing how she make her evil mark on both of you.
Cannot find it, rose. Is it in today's chog? Only found what you told about your son.
hmmm, maybe not. will email, you dear. mind you, eldest son was plenty to deal with. did i tell you about the workcover letter arriving late friday afternoon?
well, anyway, let's chat on for now! Such a waste of good babble chog time to go looking for a piece of log. I'll find it later, ok?
yes, the one forbidding you to enter work premises for now.
oh that would even better. Please do email me everything, and I will write back.
more private, which might be good in this case.
np's sweetie. how goes your time alone? or are you being 'invaded' by other members of family?
no more time alone, alas. Rob and Caya came back on Friday, already, and Tim arrived yesterday evening.
sprite, yes, th4's the one.
and i find it quite illuminating that your stress levels dropped completely away, and you had no horrible dreams.
the bastards. Well, no matter they can prove they were 'protecting' you just now. What counts is that they didn't do so at all when you got injured again.
yeah, Liz said the same thing, rose. But but but... I don't think I want to do without my family :(
so now, i ask, how is it i was working without my co-morbidities effecting my performance...and since my fall and subsequent surgery do effect me??
exactly. The comorbidities do not matter. It is the fall, the extra surgery and the way your body is reacting to that extra stress now.
I don't know how things are in Australia, rose... you should ask your lawyer. Here, it would be wise to write a letter back that you want to follow through on your return-to-work plan in your own pace, as endorsed by your treating doctors, and that you hold yourself available for work within those limits.
yeah....and if work sack me due to my health, i cannot fail to qualify for a disability pensiopn...lol...i win...no matter what...
make sure you run it all by your lawyer. I know more or less how dutch law applies, but have no idea about Australian. Here, you have to be able to prove you did everything possible to return to work. And work has to prove they have done everything possible to let you. Including finding better suited work inside or outside the company. And if they cannot, they have to pay your disability pension for 3 - 7 years.
sprite, all will be presented to my lawyer. trust me...a friend of mine told me...take down notes on all th4 is said, even if you write mary had a little lamb...lol...this was from my bishop's wife...what a woman!!!
I like that woman. Didn't know bishops were allowed wives, though, lol. Yes, write everything down. Telephone conversations, note date, time, person and details.
and the other thing which gets my goat...
yes?
workcover is trying to tell me i must have no contact with my former workmates. and i am saying ...what the f***?
most of my work colleagues are friends, not just work-mates. and one inparticular i have known for over 25 years.
they cannot tell you that. Or rather, they can, but they have no authority over that at all. If you are friends with some of them, that is a private matter. Just don't contact them at work. Which you wouldn't do anyway.
to put it bluntly, rose, as they say here: They are shitting 7 colours of crap from fear.
th4 is what i say, sprite. and if workcover or my employer try to enforce this, i will have them up for ullying.
*bullying *
very good. Yes, that is what it is. And their fear your situation will influence the atmosphere at work, because most of your colleagues will be on your side... and talk about it :) I say it is a good sign.
i know, hun...i do not want to lose touch with these wonderful people.
and you shouldn't. All I hope is that they are true to you. I have found out the hard way that colleagues aren't friends. And will stab you in the back if they feel it can benefit their position in the firm.
yeah, sprite. i am so feeling what you are sayiong. but one work colleague has worked with me for over 25 years. we are definitely friends. if she gives way to inducement...well i forgive her...it is only human.
*saying*
my advice would be, not to discuss your situation with them until everything is settled. That way, you cannot be hurt by any traitor, and the hospital cannot accuse you of influencing the work atmosphere.
yeah, i hear you, sister. * lips firmly zipped *
yes it is human. We should never forget that people's livelihood is at stake, and when that is threatened in any way, people can act... very weirdly, to say the least.
*hugs* Sorry to sound so negative. Just... well, have been there and bear the scars, grin.
sprite, thanx for your advice...i will be vigilant.
*giggles* It shouldn't be too hard. The one thing people rather talk about than gossip is themselves ;)
squirrel?
* giggle * nah...couldn't think of an answer to your last post...
lol, sorry. All I meant was, it is easy to get people to tell about themselves and they usually prefer that even to gossiping about others. I did NOT mean you were a gossip. Quite the contrary.
i noticed th4. people would rather talk about gossip, as you say, rather th4 reveal they need help in their private lives...why is th4?
perhaps, th4 is the difference between our cultures? or one of them?
because gossiping makes one feel superior, and revealing something really private makes one feel vulnerable?
I don't know, could be. I have found that if you really listen, people will tell you everything about themselves. Rob often comments on that. We travel by train, for instance, and within 5 minutes somebody is telling me their life story. And Rob says they always leave him in peace, lol.
i am watching a new program...about nurses during world war i.
I think people really want and need to be heard, to be truly listened to. If they feel they are, they usually don't gossip, but talk about themselves. But that is just my own experience.
lol, sprite. of course they leave rob alone...
oh dear. That was a truly tough time for nurses. Also one where they started to get some power for themselves though.
both sexes want/need to be heard...it is only the females who are willing to do it..
some men are great listeners. One of my teachers is about the best listener I know (Hein Stufkens).
lucky you, sprite. in my experience no male has heard my cry for help...including my beloved don.
am sorry about that, rose :( I consider myself blessed. *hugs* Know that I will hear you, whenever. Sister to sister.
xoxox sprite, thanx dearest.
*Hugs*
this is a nasty little grid. I have run out of words long before the finish.
how can i help you, sprite?
I see your favourite clothing is in the grid :D
um maybe, just a yes or no: is that Qu used at all? Any -rque words?
oh, and i meant to ask you? how is our pugs? haven't seen her for a while.
no qu at the beginning
in fact no qu words at all
she isn't well, rose. Very down, very tired. Her sister is worse, W had another bout of drinking, and she is going through mourning for her marriage and everything.
she sleeps a lot, which is why she cannot make it to babble as she would like.
thanks rose, then I can at stop looking for words using that darn tile.
ugh, poor pugs. my heart goes out to her...
and you know her, she worries about you and doesn't want to burden you. I told her to burden you all she can, lol. But she doesn't write often, I think she doesn't even have the energy for that.
okay, i am hearing you my friend. will write to her ASAP. in the mean time please give her my love and kisses.
will do, rose :) And thanks. I have the feeling she needs her friends now more than ever. And she has trouble asking something for herself, alas.
good grief, after trying 'canion' a thousand times, even resorting to 'cannion', I finally remember it is canyon. And not in this grid. *facepalm*
* giggle * poor sprite...now if you had asked me...you may have saved both your face and palm...not promising mind...
indeedydeed, lolol.
* puts butterfly kisses all over sprite's face and palm *
awwwwww that is so sweet!
so... I have resorted to lickety and I still cannot find some words.
nah...just preserving my good mark in sprite's book...lolol
rose, could you please clue for me the et8/55 and the eu8/55? I am out of things to try.
like which one's, sprite?
et8/55, et + *o, opposite of yes + ****ery, the art of firing arrows
and you don't need any good marks. You are high in my books on any day :D
eu8, eu + ***e, pretty tatted work + ***ey, product of bees
um no, that does not work, rose :( Gives me a 7. The Et8 clue, I mean.
thanks for the eu8 :) Got that one.
ugh..

Good morning all
hi sukee :D

np's sprite. lol...have taken meds for the night...so sorry to have misled you, dear
you didn't, lol. I just had to look better and see how the parts of the clue could be connected. My brain isn't fully over the dream, grin.
Annie and sukee, how are you today?
Im feeling much better, had a virus the last few days but Im better today
Still on my first coffee and cat is driving me nuts already :) Wants me to get up and open the door I open the door he walks away. Now he is yelling for some reason :)
and rose, please, a clue for the tr8/60? Or is it a fish?
oh sukee! That is cats for ya! "Let me out, let me out!!! And now let me in, I am dying out here!"
wow, that et word is a strange one.
I couldn't agree more
am glad you are feeling better, Annie! *healing vibes your way* I hope you will take the time to fully recover and get your energy back up.
tr8/60, tr + most of pain + sometimes vowel + **a or coffee, beverage
thanks, sprite. I have to drive into Manhattan tomorrow so I will take it easy today.
the et8 is a ruler of a people, tribe or nation. Makes sense once you know it. The Eu8 is a fish. Literally. A candlefish, name comes from the chinook.
sounds like a plan, Annie
thanks! rose
wow, thanks rose. Good clue. Weird word.
np's sprite and annie. glad to help
for those who care (like I do), the Tr8 is: a fine-grained volcanic rock consisting essentially of alkali feldspar and one or more subordinate minerals, as hornblende or mica: the extrusive equivalent of syenite.
sprite, just looked tr8..was curious as you
see, to look at tr8, i would have thought it would have something to do with the windpipe.
that would definitely have made more sense to me, Greeny, and hi :)
greeny...my thoughts exactly.
which led to me looking up 'extrusive' as well... who said babble is not a fount of knowledge, lol.
:) Good morning all.
hi Greeny
fireflies. Thanks to lickety and a2z and rose. Jeezz, evil grid.
Ah.... here is quiet. The cat has finally gone to start taking his nap...

joseph...no, you did not request a clue incorrectly.
No not at all. I thought you meant at the end of a sentence in the chat box people put a Large D to represent a big smile...I thought you were asking what that D meant.

Night rose, sleep well x
Hi everybody. My email address is in my profile. I wonder if somebody would be kind enough to let me have Puglet's email, please. I'm very fond of her & I'm dismayed to hear she is going through a bad time.
Have a nice deep sleep, Rose.
for the ca8, I keep entering th eplural for the Italian pastry, but it keeps telling me I am wrong, is there a differnet ca8 I'm missing?
Hello, Soodle :-)
np's soodle
Cheers, Rose. :-)
ca8 a bonus word for Lickety
And hi Zooz. :-)
i think that italian pastry is like moose, the plural is the same as the singular
bubba, the ca 8 is not in the grid, if you understand what i am saying
the dictionary lists the plural, Oh well, such is babble

Hi rose and hello all

I hate Enable sometimes
I thought so also
Used to make the tings for an Italian bakery. they love them filled full of riccota cheese, but i prefer then with chantilly(sp) cream ( a 50/50 mixture of whipping cream and rich custard
things
lolol...i am not laughing at either of you...enable is so funny.

I would love to cook in a restaurant if it was my own restaurant. Cooking in other people's restaurants means following their recipes and their guidelines and that is where I would lose my enjoyment of cooking.

I find that when i cook all day, every day for the masses, you, by need, alter things for standardization and uniformity. i find that the creative flair becomes lost:(

As for opening a bed and breakfast, it sounds like a charming idea, but really it is a TON of work.
amen molly. i dont like cleaning my own house.
I ran a 26 room motel once. You become a slave to it.
but is it time to do so, bbl love you all.
though a B@B sounds more "cozy" I am sure the work load is just as intense
B&B*
I use them exclusivly when travelling;)
Do you travel frequently?
Mostly when i travel north, Molly. B&B's seem to take better care of you. the are more personable when travelling up North.

I can get you a list of good ones if you are heading up this way, Molly:)
Thanks but I'm very familiar with Canada as my husband lived there
Then you must try The Fiddler's Inn B&B in Callander next time you are roaming up north. it is very, very good
It is a god half-way stop if you are on your way to Timmins:))

Hi all. Anyone got a clue for the ca8 as the pl of the ca7 is not allowed.
its not in the grid Hydra...ignore ca8
howdy hydra
Oh, thank you so much. I've been trying to figure it out all day!
Afternoon, crossy. Well, it is here. I've just had lunch at the Dogs' Trust so I could say hello to all the gorgeous inmates.

Good day to all.
howdy scrabby
What are your plans today, Crossy?
No big plans. have done all of my honey-do list( well, all I plan on doing today that is) Have added the last 2500 words to part 2 of my novel, brekkies has been cooked and enjoyed, so now my time is my onw:)
Nice.
own
I think an afternoon siest in an hour or so sounds like a brilliant idea
what about you, scrabby? what is on the4 agenda for this fine and sunny Sunday ?
My local sister came here on Friday. We kayaked on Fri. Yesterday we "creeked"--walked in the water for a while. Today I will alternate indoor chores with outdoor fun.
siesta
I find it interesting how you differentiate between sisters that way; you have others that are long distance i take it?
I am going to the Adirondack Mtns on Wed so I mut get my bunnies ready--clean their rooms, get extra litter boxes ready, etc.
The other sister lives in New Jersey. The local sister lives 45 minutes north, a mile away from our mom. Our brother lives with mom.
Their rooms?
ahh, cool:)
bunnies have their own room!:))
Yes, ruru. Each bunny has their own room. I have 3 bunnies at this time.
lol @ the though of a four bedroom house with three of the 4 rooms housing rabbits:)))
thought:)
I share a bedroom with a bunny.
lol, need to add on, get a 5th bedroom going:)
I am guessing you don't have guests over much..unless you have bunk beds for the bunnies
or maybe bunny bunk-beds
snap ru
Actually there is a 5th "bedroom" in which Gandalf lives. It is very small and has a slanted ceiling.
or as a guest, you share a room with a bunny
as long as the rabbit does not hog the sheets
One bunny room does have bunk beds.
:))
That would be a hare-raising experience.
I will never have this many bunnies again. One bunny died in June. My oldest two are 11 and 9.
Haha, Ruru.
Imagine fighting a rabbit for top bunk...
There! Done! One last edit, and part two can be printed off on hard copy:)).. crossy's fingers are tired of typing:(
A previous bunny often laid down on the bottom bunk, and jumped up to visit whoever slept there--nephew, sister.
lol! wake up at 03: am to a rabbit sitting on your chest and staring at you intently...
Why separate rooms scrabs...?
why because they fight over the blankets of course!
either that or they end up horsing around all night instead of sleeping
or those noisy, endless sessions of rabbit sex...
ever try and tell a rabbit to wear a condom?? They never listen!
lol, Think I need a tea..brb
Bunnies are territorial and establish their space. I have never gottne two bunnies at the same time. It is tough to "bond" bunnies.
Bunny "turf" They wear their gang colours on their vests:)
Happy Sunday to all! Scrabbs, when did you first start having bunny pets?
howdy aloy
howdy crossy..
guess Scrabbs left.. was wondering if she adopted the bunnies before or after she bought the house.. bunnies are so sweet, but they aren't good as "watchdogs"
wonder if you can train them to bark? :)
don't know.. I miss having a dog around..
lots of animals in the shelters needing a forever home...
I know.. but I'd like to be in one place before we adopt
yes, it is tough if you are moving around a bit
It was so upsetting to our dog and cats when we "disappeared".. don't want to do that again.. and so we will try to be patient.
oh, you were unable to bring your pets with you on last move?
:(
complicated.. we did take our lab.. he was old and we couldn't part with him.. the two remaining cats had a loving home with a relative.. but this is after years of "ping-ponging"
and I saw how upset the pets were.. hated it
even though we were leaving them with our son.. but then, he moved
and so it goes
guess what I'm saying, in a nutshell.. the pets have feelings that I respect, so ..
morning all!
hi sue!
I hear you about moving with pets - it is complicated! We moved a year ago with one dog and two cats; they adjusted but it took a while.
And Frank's dog was very distressed when he was in the hospital last month for 18 days - she is much happier now that he is home!
wouldn't be so bad if it were one move.. am so glad Frank is home
yes, multiple moves are very stressing for pets (and us too! Personally I hate moving!)
death, divorce and moving are the major stressors I heard
First column E?
don't have it, mlfan

not here either
First part is like Hawaiian dance with an e not an h, second part is like what you grow a beard on, but with a different vowel
wow, tyvm Molly.. newby to me

thanks, Molly!
Thanks, molly. A fishy one!
is the ca 8 related to the ca 7 before it?
just found it jubi.. did you try a plural?
bbl, am going out while the sun shines!
The plural of the 7 is not accepted
The 7 is already a plural
oops.. I see that now, Molly.. then, I have no idea.. sorry for the misclue.. poof
clue for et 8/55
That's probably the one extra word...
the ca 8 is the extra word. there is an et 8
Strangely enough, several dictionaries accept the ca8 plural. I have always heard that the ca7 is singular and plural.
apparently enable only eats one ca 7 at a time
ta
cannolo, right?
I can see why they're fattening :D
"Don't forget the ca7's"
i'm still sleeping. does this mean the ca 8 is a fictional word or there isn't a ca 8?
both
I still need a clue for et 8/55 . Can't seem to find it anywhere, even looked it up in the dictionary. Only one I need for Fireworks,
matches, think the alcohol added to gasoline
there are 2 of them
sorry; the otrher one is a EU...

There is no ca8 in the grid. There is a ca8 on Lickety's List because that generates from a different dictionary.
Thanks ruru. Good clue.

I agree with that.. I prefer to do clues that make people have to think a bit.
although some of my clues are really easy sometimes too

can anyone help me??
sure
what do you need sammy
like a dumb ass.. i was messing around on the site this morning and ended up at a lite that had a delete option and a list of stuff.. i deleted two items without knowing what i was deleting.. one of them (maybe both ) said cookies.. dont know how to get back into them but i think i need those programs because now i cannot check profiles
hmm.. maybe Molly would know how to fix that. I don't.. you could also write to Dr. God to ask him how to reinstall them?
SMom, do you know how to do a System Restore?
start/control panel/system and security/ back-up and restore.. go there and use system restore and restore lost data
or enable cookies again
thanks cross and ru... will think on it a while... the damned thing seems to be running better and the friggin whining has stopped and it seems to be faster... maybe i will leave it alone or call in ther grandson ( our comouter maven .. hat to bother his.. he is so busy)
since we are guessing as to what was actually deleted, doing a sys restore and backing up things 24 hours would be better imho
but hes, sammysmom. if you have someone handy at these things, it would be good also
does anyone know how to get rid of the trovi virus?
Want to be blinded with geek science? lol. I use. microsoft security essentials, c Celeaner and Malware bytes in conjunction with a few other things to give my computer a good D&C and get rid of gremlins
my son says we have that virus... makes thinks run slow and lots of popups
I also use avg anti-virus though each person will have a prefference as to favorite anti-virus
and how do i access those cross and is there a charge?
it will do that. also you should consider using Ad-Block Plus for your browser
Everything i selected is freeware, but it is best to have someone walk you trough it all. I would start with Malware bytes, c Cleaer and an anti-virus such as AVG
through
hi folks, help with the eu8. I did not get it from earlier clue
There are free and paid versions of all these programs
it is a candlefish, peri
that is a big help :)

thanks cross
tough be warned, sammysmom, If you do not have all your passwords memorized, C Cleaner will erase all your cookies on its default setting
crossy do you use the free version of AVG?
I have in the past, peri, but I let microsoft security essentals handle most of it now, unless I am hunting a specific virus
ok
however son popped in and said i had a popup blocker on and he turned it off , so now i can check profiles... since i have stopped itching.. i think i will stop scratching
Malware bytes is a favorite program for me as well
is that free crossy?
66 left and stuck
there is a very nice free version of malwarebytes available peri
ok
lol, sammysmoom; I would love an hour with your computer.
come on doen !!
People learn a lot here in Babble Chat
down
have the old girl running like a swiss watch:)
i would love that cross
99% of computer problems are software related, the other 1% is the guts of the machine itself and since that is modular and easy to replace busted parts, the majority of repair time is spent hunting down computer bugs and glitches

I am reading Maya Angelou's last book. at least I think it is her last. published in 2013. Title: Mom and Me and Mom. It is pretty good. I have not read anything else by her. She is a very interesting lady.

my parents never placed me on a bear skin rug for photo shoots as a baby, they preffered heavy duty non-rip tarps. They were easier to tie weights to and did not break down in the water...

we don't need it?
Not to finish this grid
ty
Good to know
150 words in the grid, 151 on Lickety
except I'm too ocd to leave it blank....
can you give stats for the extra lickety word?...or is that too much to ask?.... ;o)

and suddenly, two more things appear on the list
lol...of course!
Hi, hego, pen and crossy
Hi Jaxx
Crossy, the robin died today. We have interred him in the garden in our pet cemetery
RIP
Both Ashley and my husband are upset.
:((
circle of life and all that.
Wild birds are delicate creatures
true
Yes, I know but seeing my grandson sobbing his heart out was hard.
i had one have a heart attack and die in my hands once
it is hard;(
he hasn't been well for a day or two. He went to his night perch OK and was dead this morning.
:(
we had a pair of budgies once. the female we found feet up in the bottom of the cage after 8 months, but the male lived on for an additional ten years
We had a fieldmouse as kids that had a heart attack while running in his wheel. He made a noise that can only be describes as eek, dashed into his nest and died.
We also had a three legged vole whose mother had chewed off his leg and left him blind in one eye. He lived for several years and even won rosettes as the most unusual pet. We called him Nelson!
How are diagnosing these arrests without a heart monitor?
Shame about the robin jaxx.
I did not hook him up to a heart monitor hego. it is a guess
probably when the creature dies. lol
lol, true Jaxx.
I did not do a post-mortem
so you're just guessing.
he had 5 weeks of being the robin of the roost and he ruled with a rod of iron.
yes, i am sorry, hego, i am just guessing. My bad
poor robbie
Plus the male budgie was not holding a smoking gun crossy :)
<--been a nurse too long
it could of died via an alien gang probe for all I know i suppose
lol Chrissie
I see that
)
Who killed cock robin?
I see a theme for crossy's next book :D
lol chrissie
One of our parrots, I guess.
Where is Agatha Christie when we need her?
Who needs Agatha when we have crossy?
lolol
But he admits to just guessing.
I do as well. A psycho nurse who goes around killing people and doing evil things to them while they are hooked up to medical equipment. She saves the read-outs as trophys
Every novelist needs a fertile imagination.
Crossy has read too much Stephen King.
Actually I am reading a Clive barker series atm
how is it?
it is not too bad. it is His Books of Blood series.
he is quite different from Stephen king, however.
gory?
I have never read any Clive Barker or Stephen King novel. I like Dean Koontz, though
I also have a first edition of his book weaveworld, and it is a gem
I think of Koontz ast Stephen king lite. good for when you want to read a few books on the go
good comparison
not buckets of blood in ervery tale, hego, but be ready for it
every
It is an older writing from him, but I find the best books usually are.
I hate this grid!
I wouldn't go that far, but it aint friendly
it has teeth
I second Hego. This is a hateful grid. And a grumpy Hello All. :-/
Hi, grumpy soodle.
First time I've listed before half way for ages
Growl...hi Soodle
Hey Jaxx, Chrissie, Crossie & Hego. I will try to not infect the chog with my grumpiness.
...passes round the whisky to help ease the pain of the grid....
Too late for Hego, it seems
Grump away Soodle, better out than in :) just like trapped wind
there you go Soodle! Whiskey!
nope! Cheered me right up. :)
lol, chrissie
Elbows assorted Babblers out of the way to get to the alcohol. (Even though I don't drink whiskey)...
It's okay to drink the virtual kind.
...mental note, no whisky or vodka for Soodle....
Ever since I was a small child, I HATED Sunday nights. First I hated the thoughts of school, now | hate the thought of work. I seriously need to win the lottery to dispense with this work lark.
Sunday nights are a downer, for sure.
I'm retired and I still hate them.
A small Jack Daniels and coke would be nice now, Chrissie....
ah! Jack and coke!
I've just opened the bottle of Grouse we brought back from Mallorca in March (when icon photo was taken). It also helps with the thought of work tomorrow too.
I have a cup of tea. Sorry to spoil the virtual party
Have that in the back of the cupboard, digging it out now Soodle :)
a little Jack for Jaxx's tea!
Waaaah.... wanna be in Chrissies.....
...spiking jaxx's tea....hehehe
Come over Soodle, the spare bed is free
Scotch Whiskey please. I like my irish Whiskey in coffee
Jack is bourbon
Grouse do jaxx?
Fine, thanks
Oh yes it is, Hego. I absolutely love it.
who said whiskey?!
First time I tried jack and coke wasn't impressed. Second time with ice and was impressed
I have bottles and bottles of Irish and Scotch and vodka and even a bottle of gin here, which I bought for my youngest daughter's Christening. I don't drink spirits at all
Chrissie is cheering everyone up with a small tot of Grouse.
heading out for a while...bbl to finish this tedious grid....
ha 7 anyone??
I will take my wiskey neat, with just a wee drop of water to release the aromas
haven't got it, hego. Sorry
Not a hope, Hego. Sorry.
ha + candle*** dinner + not them but **....

or bad breath
ty and Bye Pen!!
Forger coming here Soodle. I have the bottle of jack packed, several bottles of wine and am on my way to the airport
yw...bye!
Bye, pen. tc
But! If somebody were to hold a gun to my head.... a drop of Baileys, with some brandy in, over crushed ice would be tolerated...
*forget
Baileys and brandy. Interesting combination;)
There's a welcome on the mat, Chrissie!!
So wait, how did the kids clean you out of liquor if you still have bottles and bottles?
Substitute the brandy for dark rum next time, also good
such a sport, that Soodle.
Son of Soodle restocked the cupboard molly
Trust me. Baileys and Brandy. You will thank me, and then you will curse me.
yaaa for son of soodle!
I could use him around here.
Well, it was either replenish the stocks, or listen to his ma moaning long and loud....
Will definitely give that a try, but not tonight. Work would be off the cards for tomorrow :)
Joining in found of applause for son of Soodle
Sensible chap
Carry on then. I thought the bottles and bottles were left over from a long ago christening.
there is a bottle of gin in the sitting room which was purchased for Suzie's Christening... all of 19 years ago. It must be worth a fortune now.
Hmm, does gin go bad?
None of the good visiting Fathers have requested a wee drop of that?
There are also three bottles of champagne in my attic which my ex bought on the day that each of the kids were born.
*round of applause (guess grouse is kicking in)
Liquor doesn't go bad. I don't know about wine though.
Nope Molly, as a rule, Catholic priests are partial to a drop of Irish whiskey. Or tea. Or lemonade. No priest ever requeted a gin.
Sangria doesn't keep :(
I'm happy to report that no wine ever went bad Chez Soodle. It got drank before it got a chance to go off!
I should have known that Catholic priests in Ireland would go for the good stuff.
By wine I was referring to the three bottles of champagne. You should ask Ru if those are still good.
If champagne is not stored lying down it will go off.
In my experience no Catholic priest anywhere refuses a drop of Irish Whiskey.
thanks for that info sukee. Have a couple of bottles in but they are standing up
You must keep the cork damp.
I don't have too many priests calling here, but if they do, they they have to call for backup to drive them home. Priests freak me out a bit, so I tend to zap them with the hard stuff.
I have to stop watching baseball, too much stress :)
booze does not go bad( though the peatiness of good whiskey can be lost over time)
Bottom of the 12th inning and still tied.
Time for a break folks.I have 58 left. be back later
I'm okay with priests, it's nuns that freak me out.
I have cheap whisky taste, don't like peaty ones
I worked with 2 nuns at a library, they were just regular women :)
Mother probably scared by a penguin while carrying you Molly :)
Bye jaxx
No, it was 12 years of Catholic schooling.
Time for a break here too.
Good Afternoon, Everyone.
howdy nef
Hi crossy; how are you doing these days?
Break time here too
I have an aunt who is a nun. She is 81. She weighs about 80lbs. She is less than 5 foot tall. As part of her duties she visits prisoners. I am in awe of her,
doing well;) i discovered a new way to make grilled cheese and the crew are devouring it as we speak. you make it as usual with two or 3 kinds of shaved block cheeze, and some smoked ham and a bit of dill, but you add a 4th kind of shaved cheese on the outside of the sandwich before you fry it. you shave the 4th cheese into the outer butter coating and it cooks all crispy on the outside
I like nuns; I didn't like 1 when I was young; Sr. Gertrude taught piano and if you made a mistake she'd scratch your fingers when you hit the wrong note(she had sharp nails)
If you have to ask as to its nutrition value, you should not eat it:)
That sounds like WORK, crossy!
ahh nothing like corporeal punishment to teach the wee ones
Crossy... My tummy is growling.... I WANT,,,
It takes a bit of prep, nef, but it is amazing!
use ral sharp cheese and the smokier the ham, the better
real
I'll take your word for it, crossy. And I probably don't need those calories either
Moan groan, mumble grumble... I guess I better to to bed now, Mumble grumble. A reluctant g'nite all. P:oof

gn soodles
Take Care!
that sammich I just described to you can also be allowed to cool then cut into tasty croutons for salad or soups
takes a healthy, low-cal salad and with a few sprinkles, instantly turns it into a artery clogging delight;)
Hello

I Jewish, but man I do snarf them up
agreed bichon

cyber it ends in an i
double cons
in the middle of the word that is

Heyas kids ..
ty torgone.

well, welcome to the retirement world, granny g (it looks like it's spellcheck that's causing me trouble now!); I hope you can enjoy your retirement!
I'm enjoying it immensely Nef. Gotta go now but I'll be back tomorrow. Happy Babbling everyone and thanks for all the clues.
Bye! Enjoy your day!
Laters gran ..
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help - back to the pga :-)
YAY, cybernan!!! WTG!!!
Half way; & I need to get some things done yet today. Happy Babbling Everyone! Bye!
does anyone know why ca8 is not the plural of ca7? It seems to be acceptable to the dictionary & Morewords - is there another word?
was wondering the same thing jwr
hmmmm
ca7 is theoretically already a plural
I mean, not theoretically. It is a plural in Italian :)
nevertheless the plural is acceptable in all the English dictionaries
got the smile, yes -- that's a frequent annoyance (plurals) with people who were raised on strict grammar and syntax rules
ca7 is like scissors. It is the same in singular form as it is in plural form. Any dictionary that accepts ca8 is incorrect.
ah. Calling a dictionary "incorrect" these days is, I'm afraid, questionable.
the singular ends in an o, but since no one ever eats just one...
Also, Molly, I was asking if there was another word that fits the ca8? If so, I will go looking for it.
A dictionary, or a word list (like Enable) is free to "validate" whatever word it wants to. The Enable dictionary recognizes "deers" when that is not a grammatically correct word in the English language.
Exactly. That's why I'm asking since I can't find another word. If you found one, please just say yes.
The ca8 is not a word needed to complete the grid. It is a word in Lickety's list because Lickety and the grid use two different word sources. Thus, the grid says 150 words total and Lickety says 151 words total.
Thank you very very much, Molly. That's what I needed to know. I've been on Babble going on ten years and do understand the vagaries of Enable.
Hunter to other hunter: "where's dem deers?"
Bye Molly and mael, thanks for your help
Hi all :)
hey liz
Good morning / or evening, Ru. Hope you've had a good day.
Sorry I quit unexpectedly yesterday when we were chatting to Rose. Skype call.
I am now.. relaxing.. going to make soup and sandwiches.. have a glass of wine,
hi Liz, hi all.. back to find some more
Have a lovely evening.
Hi Aloy
24 left here to finish.
Not liking today's grid too much.
no problem... Liz.. people come and go here all the time.. it's the norm
30 here, Liz
0 here :D
Sure but I usually say bye!
Congrats, Ru :)
congrats, ruru!
Well.. I don't see any black marks on your chart here liz
Well, no more than usual!
Lots of them on mine : D
Hi Molly :)
not with me Molly
Nor with me.
I'm still assembling your shrine molly
What soup are you making, Ru?
corn soup..
Yum - never made that. Made a curried veg soup yesterday.
fixed a celery soup appetizer tonight
and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches.. that's what i'm craving today
Comfort food :)
sounds like a wonderful supper
sounds good to me too
Love comfort food
Grr! Finding I've missed some simple words :(
crossy is back:)
howdy liz:))
Hi Crossy :)
hi crossy
howdy aloy:)
running into a bunch of words that are strange!
Same now - lots of words with a not out ending.
there are quite a few strange ones in here today, aloy:)
strange words as wel:)))
But trying to finish quickly now before we start the day properly.
for sure!
lol crossy ;)
go Liz, go!
She is not a quick grid, liz, even for its small size:(
True but I'm now using what help I can!
Hm! Just found a star trek crew member - weird!
for those who are following my penmonkey exploits, the second part of my novel is now done! Just doing the semi-final edit before i decide if it should join part one on authonomy.com. The final edit or what I like to call the "anal edit con significance" must be done by others once I have part 3 finsihed:)
and I found a cartoon character from ages ago, black hair, red dress, little lu4
ty aloy
Congrats, Crossy. You must be feeling very happy about that.
hi all
wtg, crossy! what is the subject matter of your novel?
Yes, I found that cartoon character not long ago!
Hi Gwen
hi Gwen
it is adventure fiction. Tough to lay it all out here, but if you go to authonomy.com and search for the Novel "Longfellow" you with get to read the lightly edited part one
it is adventure/fiction. Hard to really pidgeonhole it in a specific genre
ok, thanks, crossy
Will do later today, Crossy.
you can also leave comments and suggestion there as well for me to read.
For those who are about to slit their throats at another mention of my novel, I promise to keep it down to a once-a-week mention from here on out
ok.. have been reading a bunch of freebie books from BookBub, and all the authors encourage feedback
:)
we live and die on feedback
well, do you have a title for your novel, crossy?
Fireworks!
it is called "longfellow" (working title)
wow, wtg, Liz.. congrats!! 11 to find here
I think you should feel free to mention it as often as you like!
oh.. thought that might be your pen name
Go, Aloy! Go!
authors have to promote their own books. that's just a fact. unless you're stephen king some something
Here to clue for a short while - though going to check the post first!
no, my authonomy name is crosshair, and my pen name is my own real name
lol, since I am looking up a four letter word, I think I need that encouragement, thanks Liz
well, Mr king can sell a million copies of his laundry list these days. means nothing any more
oh.. gheez, it was the Star Wars character!
His last few novels have been tempting me to send him a case of whiskey so he goes back to his style of old
top row done
his old style of writing*
hey, i'm not making any judgment on him as a writer, just sayin', most writers have to promote their own books, but once you get really famous (like king) not so much
I also had to look up some 4 letter words :(
indeed,gwen. THEY come to you:)
i've self published a few, and no one sell 'em but me, which is why they are not "bestsellers"
Right now I would be content with my story meriting on-sale bin fodder status lol
Well, if by some miracle Harper/ Collins picks it up, I will re-assess my options:))
here's hoping! 8-)
Enjoy your evenings, everyone. Congrats in advance on your fireworks! I'll be back some time after flip.
ooh, do you think major publishers scan through books on authonomy?
bye Liz.. see you next time!
well, there are about 100,000 novels-in progress on authonomy and HC picks up about 5-10 in a year in this manner
oh, ok..
I advise scanning the editors desk selections:)
i don't know, some of them might, but they get hundreds of queries (submissions) every week, so maybe not
the editor desk "slush pile" is a frightening thing...
So, first and foremost, i write for myself, no other.
yeah, i worked for a teeny tiny publisher once, and even he got too many submissions to deal with on a daily basis. he used to tackle them every other week (or he would let me do it, not fun)
I think that is what you must do, crossy.. and let loose.. I have trouble letting loose
yes, once you discard the fact that you are writing a tale for the masses, it becomes easier. Just write for yourself or one person you care for
will keep that thought in mind, ty
because there are too many out there who will take your child you crated with blood sweat and tears, they will take it as it makes its way into the world on unsteady legs and they will hack it and slash it and main it and give it back to you broken and with a smile..;)
created
A new writers skin must be thick indeed:)
see what you mean
As I recall even Rowling was turned down many times at first;)
egads, I missed the elbow bone!
ty aloy, me did too
lol, don't forget the adj. extension
ty for elbow bone
oooh, also good, ty
ty aloy
yw.. last word te6.18.. pow, across the net, got it.. fw
wtg aloyisius !!!!!!!!
yaaa for aloy!!
hello all....can't find my last word....et 8?

yepper!
Clues are up
Hmm, Lickety's auto message must be off it's timer
cr6 please?
i thought the same thing, molly :-)
Sounds like what the Ponderosa is Une
tx molly!
last word . . . missing a c8 from column 1 . . . don't see it in lickety's list . . . ?
it's a mistake Une
so how do I get firewords?
I'm not nearly there and probably won't get this so it's doesn't bother me
il
There is no ca8 in the grid.
evening all
And I'm confused because the c in column 1 does not connect to an a
hi...
the c 8 you are missing may be a pt of a cr 5...
yes, pen!!! thanks!!
yw...
ok, back at the flip :-)
Ah cr8...that one is on Lickety's list
yup...one of my last words...
It's on Leckety's list and on my word list. So it doesn't count?
Good night all. Can't stay up any longer
Hey Lickety! You took out the wrong word!
hi all
*waves at une's back as she leaves*
Heya jmc ..
hi torgie
this grid looks like a bear
It is rather ursine ..
have all your plants died in California for lack of water?
Things are getting a bit crispy ..
well i hope everyone gives up smoking so there are no stray sparks. . .
There are several fires going up north ..
texas went through that a few years ago. . . it is frightening
stats for the bottom corner E please
eu8/55 .. Good luck with that ..
Google candlefish ..
yikes!
ty i would have never gotten that in a million monkey years!
nbt
i think that will be it for tonight. . . off to bed and my cat. . . tell everyone i said hi!
Nitrous jmc ..
*poof*
hi all, here to finish
hi all. just starting. any clues for the 8s?
hi mkg! I only have one of them and it's a doozy
no good endings. only one S no ing, no real ed's, no ly, ugh
let's see if I can clue it. eu8/55 = eu + consonant + mexican appetizer n***o + not off
perfect and i got it.
ty
et8/45 is the plural of et7/32, a type of alcohol
ethol
oops. sorry
that's close, mkg
well that is not how it is spelled anyway so no lost.
got the 7 and 8. ty.
only 4 more 8s to go
et8/55 has the same first three letters as et8/45, then a consonant, then a semicircular doorway
ty got it. super clues sue
I'll clue the others as I find them, working through the h's now
in8/55 is past tense of in6/24, in + that semicircular doorway again
tr8/60 is tr + **e (high or low card) + hy4/7
huh. Somehow I am missing an 8-letter c word from the lower left c. I have an extra ca8/45 that shows up on lickety but not on babble but I am still missing one.
cr8/60
thanks, molly!
that would be the past tense of cr6/27, c + what you have out west instead of a farm
I'm so confused. Lickety has an extra word, this I know. But if it's missing that cr8, shouldn't the word total be 150?
lickety has an extra ca8/45
and the total is 150
so lickety and babble agree that the total is 150, but each has one c8 that the other doesn't
Oh that is weird. I would swear that earlier Lickety's total was 151.
it was
he apparently fixed it
Was it? I missed that.
Then he must have corrected the list but deleted the wrong c8
he heard the whining in AUstralia
:D
Too bad it was about the wrong word.
hi all back to do more. any clues for more 8s please? have et x2 and eu. any others?
just saw below more clues for 8s. ty. got the in. now trying others.
ty. got cr 8.

or Arabic letter maybe :D
dont know lentil or arabic letter. ouch. what are stats?
oops, I blew my cover. Hello friends
i keep thinking dytch or dych.......but dont know
it is dh 4
ty got it.
hi all, any clues for the second et8?
clued earlier as the same first 3 letters as the one above + consonanet + a rounded doorway
tx
