reminds me of the time we were camping down at a holiday resort. as we walked back from the beach, there was a snake skin lying by the side of the roadway. as my father leant over it to have a better look, the darn thing moved. it was the only time i ever said a 4 letter word in front of my mother and didn't get told off.
my son has seen them on his pool deck as well as various poisonous and non- snakes

No matter how you try, books always look untidy. I have cleared out the baby books but asked the grandchildren first. they have gone to the charity shop to enrich another generation.
all my bookcases are full. thank god they invented ereaders just in time!

I have favourite authors and I buy everyone of their books and reread at my leisure. I have tried a Kindle but my eyes just can't cope. They get tired very quickly.

I "lost" most of my collection in a move that turned out to be a real mistake. Now I'm replacing those and adding more. Now have the complete Stevie Wonder anthology.
Not that extravagant as they are mostly oldies but goodies so don't cost much.
I never did have an extensive CD collection; most of mine is still vinyl, which I really don't have a way to play at the moment

Well, jaxx...my sister basically stole them from me...they are gone.
I've lost a few over the years, including a couple of old Beatles albums - I think I may have given them to my brother, but he died in 1983 so they are long gone

My CD collection is with my "best friend" of over 40 years whom I no longer speak to....she just has never sent them to me even thought I sent prepaid boxes to her.
My childhood was charmed after my mother left...my grandmother and her fourth husband raised me like a princess in every way. I was very lucky.
Of course, I was raised thinking my bio father was my brother....a little wrinkle...it's in the book.
On another note (while cats wait patiently to be fed), we have all kinds of flooding here today...a real mess. We don't have rain often but when we do, it's serious.
Off to feed the kids....hugs all around.
I found out many years after the fact that the "older sister" of the little boy who lived across the street from us when I was growing up was actually his mother - her mother was raising him as her own (the daughter had him when she was very young)
