one of the he7/40 s tickled me into whistling the catchy tune about the Eighth
sorry. that wasn't meant to be an unasked for clue but I thought I'd share it ... not that anyone's around. and I have to get ready to go to work anyway. not the funnest grid, so have to get my pleasure where I can.
good morning all
cooee and g'day from me
jwr, your he7/40 tickled me also.
Hi all, up early doing laundry.
I have the HA 7/40 that tickled you both but do not know the tune. Who did the tune, so I may see what it sounds like?
Ermin
Heme
Hermans hermits.. I think.
Thank you, Blueheron. Will check it out :-)
good morning
{{everybody}}
haha just watched them on youtube. It is rather a funny tune.I can now see why it tickled you both..lol
Hello, Ruby :-)
hello zzoozz
How is your weather? |It is cool here at night but gorgeous in the afternoons
Pretty much the same here, Ruby. I have been close to turning on my heating, but have so far kept it off :-)
we would have enjoyed a fire, but I haven't been able to reach the chimney sweep (lol), so am afraid to do it
Zoozzoom,Joe Brown sang about the king I think.
hello macadam
Guess I am invisible today, that should be fun :)
Gosh I had forgot about Joe Brown. I will check him out too! Thank you, Macadam :-)
Hi Ruby. How is the garden?I understand the rain has been over your part of the planet, and lots of it.
Hello, Sukee :-) Why are you invisible?
oh no, sorry Sukee, I didn't see you.
:)
All the rain in July and August spoiled the tomatoes, but kept everything else green and floering. This is the 3rd round of roses and I may even have a second round of figs if there is no frost. Usually the lawn is totally brown by the end of August
34 words and have to go. See you kids later
Yes, Macadam you are correct. I have just watched Joe Brown and the Bruvvers do a version of the song too..lol
Toodle pips, Ruby.
Glad to hear it hasn`t been a total disaster. We have 3 new cats nearby and they are killing quite a few plants. They have killed several birds too and partially eaten them before taking the rest away. That I hate. All cats should have to wear a bell.
I hear you there, Macadam. My next door neighbours cats keep coming into my garden and attacking the birds. Not keen on that at all but no matter what I do, I seem powerless to stop it.
|Our dogs have actually done that, they don't eat them but they "toy" with injured birds
As long as the pups are otherwise nice, there's naught to be done
Bad doggies :-)
I just popped in fo see who was around .I dont`t do it often these days .The song rang a bell so I thought I could help.Nice to have had a few chats but I too have to go.Bye all.
they tore apart one lizard, too
Nice to see you, Macadam :-)
Time for car boot sales here so I to will be going.Toodle pips for now!
good morning everyone:)
Hello crossy
how are you this fine morn, sukee?
Not too bad, doing laundry and drinking much needed coffee.
How are you? Why are you up so early?
I get all sore and achy these days if I stay in bed longer than 6 hours at a time, so here I am:)
I can sort of identify with that some mornings, and if I sleep too long I wake up with a headache.
my best sleep these days if the afternoon power nap between 2pm and 3:30 pm (when I can get it)
there we are, the reset is all done:)
Now we can mess it up again:)
Greetings and felicitations
oh my and on a first date?!! What type of guy do you think I am, matty? lol
hehe, that is a lovely "ten dollar " word and i think I shall use it in my next bit of writing.:)
I feel you should. Mind you, I'd be really impressed if you could get some of the weird and wonderful words that appear here in a sentence

hi jj (can I call you that? ) it's the ca7 with an extra vowel at the beginning

ca7 sound like The Perils Of girl
thanks i don't know who that is but i guessed based on the letters that there are here and now i have it thanks
Excellent clue, Molly!
Too young : D
I figured it was an easy Google search for the kids
Really love your icon, too.
ok i've googled it and are you really that old?
No, she's only 6, jj....
No, but my parents were
1914 original then redone 1947 so to be old enough even to watch the second one you'd have to be in your seventies at the very least
molly, I grew up hearing this too -
we didn't have to watch it, it just was part of the language
oh
we didn't get a tv until 1955
Same way I know words like "nifty" and "swell"
Exactly right, JBV!
well everyone knows those words
and since we're on the topic of weird parental words, i'll throw out a question here for you word lovers - I haven't been able to find the answer anywhere....
We had one of the first color TV's in our neighborhood and I remember all the neighbors coming over to see the NBC peacock.
my mom used to threaten us with "I'll skinappelate you!"
has anyone else ever heard this?
or skinappleate
That's a new one for me.
who knows how it's spelled - she never wrote it out : )
Never heard that one, but my Mom used to make words up
could someone clue the 2nd he7 for me please?
I've been on other word forums - no one has ever heard it - it's not documented anywhere -
so maybe she made it up!

This is a grid full of junk
friday was too. but yesterday was nice.
what bout the m's

Bubba, your icon reminded me, we watched a documentary special on Easter Island last night. Was a case of environmental genocide and a object lesson from the past that we should pay more attention to I think.

for the ac8 and for those who do not get the old silent movie reference you can say a+ the botanical term for the upper part of a plant stem:) though I am not sure if that is any better:)
ER 6/24 ?
botany vs. old movies....hmmm....
Are you saying that Erda is OLD crossy? :D
Now we need a old movie about botanists...
cross maybe their is one?
nope. it was clued that way many times thismorning and is aimed at no one in particular. I am just putting out another option is all.
"their" ??????????
I am pulling your leg crossy
Do not get me into trouble ru. i can do that very well on my own:)
I was just trying to get a rise outta erda ðŸ˜
:)
somebody must have made one at some point wouldnt you think so cross? Maybe that could be the subject of your next book?

ty molly....
ty pen
yw...
ty pen
i got it. wow weird word. ty.
not getting the we 8?
got the we word too. the ending is one i did not hear before but makes sense.
ty. have all 8s now.
we8...like the ca8
mlf...use the ending for the ca 8..
the we 8 is sort of tit for tat
mlfan, a sapling is a baby tree. the ending is not 3 letters but 4. use that ending for the we 8 and ca 8
don't forget bumbling
Could we have another clue for the we8? I don't think that was enough of them. : D
I'm working on one Molly
And fumbling
and mumbling
And tumbling
and babbling... ;o)
and dumpling
How about grumpling? Grumpy baby
take we 4, to take a baby off the breast. then add to it the end of the word for a baby tree. it is a 4 letter ending, not three letters. that is the key. the we 7 only uses the three letter ending. so you need that one last letter in the 5th place in the word.
lol
Oh my
cant get the m words or the t words. darn. stats please.
on that note, i am going.....i want to walk the breakwater today....mile long stone wall that cuts across the harbor with a lighthouse at the end...

OHIO'S BRUTAL WINTERS makes one appreeciate the wonderful springs
hi...just got back
thinking of getting a wovel this year
Is that like a vowel for dyslexics?
i am worth a few hundred bucks... heh heh
no.. a wovel is a shovel with wheels so that old folks like me can still shovel the snow or the shit... whatever falls............
Oh - never heard of it - we don't generally get much snow here (and when we get an inch, it's chaos)
i live in ohio i the states matty and we have had snow accumulate to 4 feet or better some winters
I come from NY and whilst our snow wasn't that bad, we still had a couple of feet each winter. Here, they describe drifts ... of 2 inches. That's not a drift!
I've been in the UK 26 years
(Can you hear my accent?)
ayuh... i was born and raised in maine which is upposed to have worse winters than ohio , and i do recall a few hard winters there, but many more here
check google for a wovel.. they really look great
Nobody shovels here - it's annoying
where were you born in Maine?
of course i have a much better snow remover.. it is called a walter and i grew my own
yes pen born and raised in portland
yes pen born and raised in portland
ah...i am in the midcoast...
have relatives all over the place in maine... from scarborough to caribou
i was born and raised in Lewiston...

i like the midcoast much better...
when we go to visit.. we always drive ... we make a beeline to haveril mass. then eat our way up the coast
heh heh....i ate seafood at a lobster shack on the peninsula yesterday for lunch....
waahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
i want some
sorry....gorgeous day and great view, too... ;o)
can you believe i have even stooped to buying a can of clams and making my own fried clams and fritters
my sisters would laugh at me and brother woukld probably not talk to me for a whikle
i believe it....my bro had some clams cooked on a grill yesterday...i had some clam chowder...
but they have them near and i do not
i hear ya...i would really miss not being near the coast...
do not like lobster tho... never did... when people know we are going to maine, the4y say oh bring me back a lobster...and i say give me the thirty bucks and i will.... they think they are cheaper there
one of our favoring places is warrens in york.. i almost had my husband convinced that it was a law that you had to stop there or the maine border patrol would not let you go north
*Is now craving fried clams and lobster*
me toooooooooooooo molly
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm think ill make a chowdah for suppah... salmon sounds good
When people ask me "what kind of chowder" I'm making, I just look at them funny. I don't know who thinks that red stuff is chowder.
red chowder....ew.....
it is not.. it is soup
...chowder is made with milk and that IS a law.. i saw it in downeast magazine years ago
lol....i drive by downeast all the time....they have a very nice building to work in....
I was raised by a Boston woman and there is no such thing as red chowder in my house.
right molly..... any new englander knows that
made a new england breakfast for the boys this morning.. bacon and eggs and fried potatoes (fried in bacon grease of course)
with apple pie for dessert
this is a 2 times a year event in this house..... most of the time we eat healthier, but one has to admit that the are times when you just HAS TA
Dessert after breakfast? SMom is the BEST!

Hi Jill. I used to play a lot - years and years ago. Have just recently dipped my toe in again. Nice to meet you !
Welcome back! Nice to meet you, I've been on since 2009. Got hooked onto it by harpjane who is a local friend of mine
I wrote this in July 2006 - and the site hasn't changed at all! http://www.ciao.co.uk/playbabble_com__\nReview_5591531
you will have to tinyurl that , matty, babble will fill the thing with unwanted characters, making it useless
Didn't know chat was blown. I read Jill's post "I've been on sin"
Ah - ok, hang on
WE can just keep chatting til chog scrolls thru....llin didn't work for me anyway
http://tinyurl.com/nxbrdoo
Sorry guys - my bad
Happens often matty
Anyhow, I'm down t 18 left but can't even seem to monkey the rest
Still crawling thru to nbt/nbs here
nbt? nbs?
no blank tile, no blank spaces
Loved the review, thanks for sharing...I NEVER can remember cwrth
NBT - no zeros in the Tile Stats NBS - no zeros in the Word Stats
Thanks! I'm sure this is going to get me a slap with a wet fish, but can anyone help with the an7?

I have one 7 left (again, probably an easy one) - given I can't even monkey my missing 4s, I shall ask for a clue, if I may, for the ea7 and then give up for the night, I think.
May I have a clue for the ea7?

ac8/50
Right, given I can't even monkey ac4,4 and an4,4, I feel it's time for bed - might even (gasp) read a book. Have fun - finish the last 16 words for me, will you?
ah, the elusive ac 8...
Jill, what is babble expert? maybe it will help me :)
brain hurts. perhaps a snack would help. going foraging.
It's a beta program you can get my email lickety, has Licketys babble clues, enable dictionary all with grid; keeps everythink on one page lexi
i am using babble expert...
you can transfer words from lickety to babble or from babble to lickety easily....
Now brb...warm liquids required....chai tea maybe
wow, I just email lickety and I can get it???!!!
I have to just use the website - I am on a Mac. I used to use it though -it was great
no popping back and forth, that would be awesome!!!
several people have the link on their profile pages, too...
it's a download...
I don't believe you can use it with a Mac. It also is IE linked
i use it with Chrome...
Yep, i remember that from the old days - I just use the website. Right - I am going to have a smoke, maybe a wee glass of red, and head to bed - see you tomorrow (work permitting)
bye...
cant find how to email lickety, who has link in their profile please??!!
Niters matty, nice to meet you!
It's also on Lickety's babble clue page
ok, going hunting again :)
How do you "steal a link"?
i looked on Lickety's page and did not see it...
Well, akin to reading someone elses mail molly
I've never understood why there is no link to Expert on Lickety's page.
Still can't find it, going to start looking through profiles arrgh, but I am so excited!
Link to Expert download: http://tinyurl.com/asayuk8

the end was awesome indeed
you've suffered enough. when is the first game and who will they play?
It will be either Thursday or Friday, and it will be the wild card winner - either Pittsburgh or San Francisco.
Unless something happens today which might make it St. Louis if Pittsburgh wins and St. Louis loses
Dan you have a BEAUTIFUL daughter!
thank you lexi - I'm rather smitten myself
great clue molly!!
found the le5 - firewords! tx Molly & all cluers
grats. dan

Off (sneezingly) for another chai...brb
I don't get that clue Molly

molly, what do you thing of once adding the frozen characters?
niner
sorry friends
it didn't work
I think Once has been adding way too many Disney characters. If it wasn't for Robert Carlyle, I would have given up on Once a while ago.
disney princesses gone bad.
Hello babblers! Is it me or is this puzzle a tad bit difficult
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers!Way to go
gotham is interesting, and i admit to liking utopia.
hi, min
Hi Min. Nice picture of Jack. By the way, your profile still describes pictures of Jack that are not there anymore.
he is smiling!
Yes, I know. I keep on hoping flckr pics will appear again
Oh you are an optimist Min. There are many things not right with this site and there doesn't seem to be any effort to fix them.
the flip was awful, at least for me
Just changed mistakes in my profile. I feel as a teacher, I should not have any grammar or spelling errors in profile
No worries Min. There are teachers and former teachers here who intentionally misspell words all the time.
I'm the grammar police.I really hate it when educators or those who work in education do not speak correctly and I hear bad grammar every single day! It's like nails on a chalkboard to me. I cringe when I hear incorrect grammar. I hear double negatives every single day.
I hear you Min. It used to depress me when I would get emails from my son's teachers with poor grammar and bad spelling.
my gpd. tois grid has on;ly 12 words? feels like 1026
Can I get clues for the me6/27 and me6/21? Just not wrangling them today.
Hello hpb! How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid
One is the first word in a phrase that means sex for three. The other sounds like Miami quarterback Dan.

Hello Anniebrook! How are you doing? Welcome to puzzle
I had to google the miami reference. Not much of a sports fan here...
Hi Min :)
Can I please have a clue for the last re 6/18 word MollyL?
Yes, more knitters here than football fans.
Hi Annie.
Neve mind! I just found that last re6/18 word. Thank you
hi hpb :)
hi hpb :)
Ooh! I still need that clue!
Min, filling in for Peri while Peri is on vacation.
re6/18 word adds a single hump to the re 5/10 before it.
Thanks!
yw
Ah, the infamous single hump clue strategy.
I have 18 words left and really do not feel like finishing! I will just wait for clues to be spilled in the chat log. What I get is what I get. I should have started babbling earlier.
bye, all. I'm giving up for tonight.
