hey matty :)
seems to be quiet in babble this morning
Yah - short grid - I have one left - I think peeps have been and gone
can't blame them. Short and sweet today. How are you, matty?
Meh - tough week. You?
And...FW
wrestling with new meds, but otherwise fine. Sorry you had a tough week. Here's to hoping next week will be smooth and fun.
wtg matty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Indeed
And thanks
gosh, i close my eyes for just a minute, and there she is....lolol...{{hugs}} sprite
g'day matty
Howdy - I'm outta here now - have fun! * poof *
rose :) *hugs* my dear friend. How are you today?
bye matty :)
and whaddaya thinking, closing your eyes, hmmmm?
not too bad, sweetie. did a little gardening, but stopped when back went into spasm. that was about 20 minutes.
oh poo. Tiny grid for a Saturday. Mean Babble!
hm, when is that doctor due back, rose?
hello ruby
and dearest? what sort of a night have you had, and how was yesterday? did you manage the shopping and cooking?
{{hugs}} ruby
I managed, barely, but cooked a lovely meal. Couldn't sleep until 4 am. Then slept in some, so am ok.
doctor back in 2 weeks, i see him in 3 weeks. that was the earliest i could get.
ugh, 3 more weeks. Tell that man to forget about vacation and work trips for the next year.
phantom: hectored
20 minutes is a lot of weed-pullin! If not for the weeds, there'd be no lawn
i know ruby, but the buttercups are taking over. i need to get them out before they get established.
how are you holding up, ruby?
aaaah, that's what the yellow weeds are! I thought they were a variety of dandelion. Whatever, usually, by now, the lawn is totally brown
I think buttercups and daisies belong in a lawn.
This was a horrible week, but I've invited Burt's daughter to come again SOON as I don't see him getting any better. I filled her in on a bowdlerized version of th week's events
it is an ordeal :(
It wouldn't be as bad if he stayed more even-tempered. But there are still spates of sarcasm and nastiness, making it hard for me to be nice
consider it part of his illness, ruby. He must be so scared and confused inside. But yeah, hard on you. *hugs*
and this new thing of his havig trouble forming words is very scary for hi. I understand but still.....
dinner on the way. spinach and leek quiche tonight. goodnight beautiful people. see you tomorrow. xoxox
{{rosie}}
enjoy, rose and sleep well. hug*
it is absolutely taxing on you, ruby. Too much so. And at the same time, I am so sorry for Burt as well.
Of course, it makes me very sad to see him likfe this, but I cannot allow myself to fall apart
no, you have to stay strong. Not easy.
yesterday we had lunch at |your" resto, Sprite, and since they are closing for about a month, they comped us AND gave us a big package of our favorite foods, vacuum-packed. How nice is that?
awwww that is so sweet!
It was really touching
good people
yes and now I'm off
{{sprite}}
bye ruby *hugs*
fireflies, bye all. May you have a blessed day and a peaceful night.
and now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!! I recall someone saying that they love it when I do word tidbits so today's tidbit is from a list of obscure or seldom used words from Webster's Dictionary...
Babblement: "Senseless prattle" or "unmeaning words," according to Webster. To twattle, incidentally, is to gossip or chatter.
Good morning crossy
howdy, sukee
It's been quite, But, I only have 3 words left to get.
quiet of course.
mm, a tiny grid like this means sparse chat rooms for the day:(
The last 3 are proving a pain though :)
Still avoiding Facebook :)
And, with the cat, he either has thyroid problems or kidney problems. I will find out the results of the blood test today.
poor kitty
$300 later....
I am so involved im my course assignment of late that FB rarely crosses my mind. I have a split-screen on my computer and have babble on the left and the project at hand on the right and I pick away at both throughout the course of the day.
Luckily, I have some extra money right now. I was thinking of a new iPad but I guess it goes to the cat.
Last time we had a cat into a vet it was $1600.00 by the time it was all done with.
I do have stuff to do, my writing (which is a bit behind) and my Shakespear course. I shouldn't miss FB.
There yougo:) The Bard should keep you busy.
Well, hopefully it won't be too expensive. The worst will be trying to get him to eat wet food, which the vet said would be better for his kidneys.
I have 15 or twenty assignments by the look of things. i also have to read The Scarlet letter, Othello, and Snow Falling on Cedars
Hey, I have to read Othello this week.
I know the wet food. it will be a special blend he sells there at 2 dollars a can:(
Yes, he already has special CD food for urine problems.
That costs me $120 twice a year.
we always give wet along with dry food as part of our cats daily diet. We had a kitty once with urine crystals, and we do not wish for that to happen again.
Yes, he had that problem too. But, I got him at 3 and he seemed to have been weaned only on dry food. It is hard to get him to eat wet, he tends to lick it and not really eat it.
Fortunately, our two black kitties love their drinking water
I know. they love to lick up the gravy and leave the rest
He also drinks a lot but that could be part of his health problems.
ours drink about a pint a day each
Whatever, I'll have to take a trip back to the vet next week to get food and/or medicine. Having to give him medicine would be the harded part of it all.
half/pint.. lol I am forgetting the old measure system:(
We are so schizophrenic here. I still refer to miles sometimes and temperature in farenheit.
Sometimes using it is like trying to go back to cubits to build a bookcase;))
I still have a few things i use the old measure for. beer is in pints, a fresh caught fish is always weighed in pounds and breast sizes will forever-more be in inches:))
Yes, I have no idea what my weight is in metric or my height.
woo hoo, down to 1
and, fireworks
I'm going to go make some breakfast. Talk to you soon.
congrats on FW and enjoy brekkies.
st7?
Similar to the ST 6/21 before it.To take large steps.Just different ending.
Although this word means. harsh, grating, or creaking sound.
It ends in no ifs ** buts.
howdy,zooz
Hello, Crossy :-)
How are you keeping?

Hello, Dan2bit :-)
Am doing well, zooz:) Howdy,dan:)

And now it is time for Crossy's web site of the day!! http://zenpencils.com/ This is one of my favorite sites and I often find inspiration in this artists work. You can scroll through different panels from previous days by opening the drop-down menu that is placed in the yellow orange header . Enjoy!

Hey all its Walter. My mom has a pneumonia. She is on antibiotics. I talked to her today and she is feeling better. Hopfully she will be able to come home today. Ty for your thoughts and prayers.

May fine programs are available though ILC online.
ty welki

Hiya, kiddos!
Algonquin College in Ottawa offers many choices for those who excel in English.
howdy Judi
Most can be taken part-time or full-time online. with one to three years for completion, so there is no urgency.
i have a friend who's a technical writer for the aerospace industry - she loves it
it is an excellent field to get into:)
I may lean more towards copy editing in digital media
Name the famous Captain in the grid who lost his mind when the strawberry ice cream went missing:)
hi, judi
:-)
Humphrey Bogart! Didn't particularly like that movie, but he was always one of my faves.
ding ding! Bogie or Queeg are right! Judi wins a crossy breakfast!
YUMS!
Queeg - always fiddling with his Ben Wa balls.
*rolls marbles in hand*
LOLOL
today it is peameal bacon with shredded apple wood smoked cheddar on top and crispy pan-fried taters with a side of fluffy scrambled eggs
*****droool******
Leave your calorie counter at the door;))
I always wondered how many times Bogie dropped those stupid balls while they were filming. Some poor assistant had to chase ball bearings around the deck.
Cut! Get the balls!
Of course Queeg was wrong; the weight/volume ratio tween ice cream and sand is totally different and if he had used the same weight of sand as ice cram, the outcome would have been totally different:)
cream*
They obviously used Hollywood physics.
indeed
Also starring: Fred MacMurray and Van Johnson.
I never really understood the part about them steaming over their own tow line.
well, I have not read the book in ages, but it would most certainly foul their propeller making Queeg look the fool to his superiors. i believe it was intentionally done by his crew as revenge.
Off to breakfast and a day trip to the beach. Ta all!
tc, judi
Hi kids.
howdy,Scrabby
Rainy weekend. :-( Actually we are to get snow tomorrow.
We have frost advisory tonight
I am going to stop typing in Q words now.
minus 1-minus 3C
I would:)
There is an orienteering meet at 12 today, but it's pouring. I think I am not going.
good morning folks.. off and on rain here
Hi Aloy. Did you stay in Florida all summer?
no, Scrabs. still in Oh.. have been but am heading south pretty soon. Have to clean up all the maple leaves first and clear the gutters
It is always tough to know when to rake--when the leaves have all fallen or just before the snow falls?
Hello Dears.
hiya hego!
Buon giorno!
Aloy, where are you now?
nowadays we just mulch the leaves with the mower
at the old farmhouse in Oh, hego
Puny little grid today, ugh.
I know.. and a weekend one too! oughta be a law, lol

I wish we were all together having a Scrabble weekend.
Would be fun....

No, not a cruiser.

Did a couple of short ones on Royal Carribean, though.
hi just thought i pop on and share my news i have now lost 30 pound :)
I did get seasick once.
wtg sarah! how did you do it?
You go Sarah!!
i am watching what i eat and walking our dog :) still got about 8 stone to go
Storm at sea, half the ship was down, it was awful.
Tough losing those stones....
wonderful sarah.. what is a stone, pound-wise?
Wow, Sarah! Fantastic! I wish I could sustain my motivation for more than a week or two.
yes but i will do it will just take bit of time lol
14 ib
I have many stones--thighs, hips, abdomen.
taken me just over 2 mths to lose that
ty .. now I know
I always think of my deceased husband whenever someone mentions stones in the weight sense.
That is fast, Sarah.
some stones have settled in my abdomen
was he British, hego?
A Brit friend was telling us about his diet and going on about stones. After he walked away my husband turned to me and said "what the hell is a stone?
i did not do a lot before starting sat on my butt and eat to much lol
lol hego
He had no idea what the man was saying. lol
ok, you have inspired me to get on the treadmill today, sarah.. with my Kindle of course
The exercise is key, Sarah.
it is and it works :)
Must have a Kindle or an ipod.
I'm happy for you.
yup, the miles go by
And it does improve your mood, also.
we walk bruno about 7 miles a day
Oh, my, poor doggie. :)

ciao for now .. hubby has biscuits and gravy ready for brunch.. groan.. more time on the treadmill!
as am I, but i figure if I can walk 6k though the bush followed by an afternoon on the water paddling, it cannot be all bad fat;)
but I'll enjoy every bite.. (-:
Enjoy aloy!!
I need to lose 50 lbs. I could hike and bike with greater ease without my extra stones.
Bye, aloy.
I lost 30 pounds in past year, but could stand to lose 30 more
i have lost 4 1/2 inch off my waist
yaa for sarah!!!
Sarah and Crossy, I must use you as motivation.
needed to do it for my girls :)
You look just fine to me Scrabs and with your activity level, quite healthy.
All I did was add hiking and cut out hard booze.
Really!!!
Next year we want to do a Vermont inn-to-inn hike. 10-15 miles daily for 4-5 days.
Now that's news!
10-15/day is a hard go:)
I don't drink. I eat healthy but must reduce portion sizes.
Boozeless Crossy. Hmmm....
I am hoping to work up to 10k hikes
More likely 5 miles in the morning, 5 in the afternoon.
I know, the mind boggles at the thought, hego
I think she can do it.
<---properly boggled!
I think all those sugar calories with a deadened booze-soaked metabolism were the key culprits!
No doubt. Lots of calories in alcohol.
Oh, and I gave up potato chips. they were killking my stomach anyways. now eat popcorn as snack
and bacon is so expensive it has become a rare treat only anyways
fat and salt, oh my.
You're doing well.
I am still bad for salt:(
and fresh bakery buns and brads
breads
Can't give up everything.

Ruby what is your question? I can play go between and ask it if I'm around when she is.
Also, her email address is in her profile.
I thought of a very old friend who lives somewhere near her and it was a sort of random and probably silly idea. But thanks.
I didn't realize I could access her profile when she wasn't "here"
Just click on her icon in chat.
Yes, found it. Thanks
may I have stats for the 8, pls?

Don't all jump in at once now
SMom has pneumonia but is on the mend.

gm jes
how're things, ru?
pretty good. I'm in the middle of our busiest sales season now
excellent.
how's you and mr. bruce?
have had better weeks, really. my receptionist died unexpectedly on thursday :(
oh jeez
how old was he/she?
50ish
wow
has a son in 7th grade, and an unemployed husband
that's terrible
that' always scares the crap out of me hearing someone younger than me dying unexpectedly
oh no
yeah. i mean, she'd had health issues, but nothing anybody saw coming.
was out last week for strep throat and pneumonia but was doing better and had come back to work, then apparently stopped breathing in her sleep thursday morning.
wow.. did she have sleep apnea too?
That's what the other receptionist said, but I hadn't heard it before then.
what does her husband normally do for a living
7 year old kid.. that's really tough.. ugh..
no, 7th grade kid
oh.. still
hubby's had several jobs off and on since i've known them, most recently was a construction flagger.
well.. he's going to have to find something quickly then
indeed.
so we're thinking we'll set up donations for a savings account for her son, so he's got something after he graduates and at least a chance of affording some college classes
that's a good idea to set up a plan.. what are they called a 509 B plan or something
dunno. office manager's out of town for the weekend, will have her call our accountant monday about it
I think that's the best way to go about to set up a tax deductible plan
wow.. best of luck with all the chaos around all this jes
on the up side, my associate doctor had a baby last night, and both she and baby are doing well.
ah.. well at least you have good news there
yeah. roller-coaster week for critters too... raccoons released themselves, got a starveling dog, mom-in-law euthanized her dog, and i'm gonna euthanize my ancient diabetic cat...
Could I get another clue for co8. I didn't get the one about the funeral. I did get the co6 & 7 though.
letting go of animals that aren't enjoying life is a gift.. and not a loss
i know, but i'm being clingy. I've had the little bugger since 1996ish
wow
20 is a long life for a kitty
or 18 even
Can you help me with the st7/32 please?
I have to bathe Dylan now.. going to visit my nephews today.. best of luck Jes.. sorry you've had so much trauma this week
sounds like the character in Lord of the Rings Aragorn
the st that is
strodi
yeah, and even longer considering he's been diabetic and on insulin since 2006, and logically i know that, but it's still tough.
have a good one, ru, be seeing you :)
bye jes
I had to have my 16 yr old cat euthanized recently because of a move and s I can identify with what you are feeling. They truly become part of the family.
co8, please?
Ss
OK please could I get a clue for the de6 that is attached to the co8?
Marc, are you looking for co7?
If so Google funeral procession
de 6 is a flaw

The co7/40 is a line or train of attendants Marc Freeman

I had a great week because husband was away all week.I am now miserable since he's back, but I am still enjoying my dog. My dog is really the love of my life. Sad, right?
that kind of is, yeah... but at least you have a cute dog with soft ears to pet
i wish i could help, minver
did you ever get a clue for st7? If you did I never saw it
My dog won a tail wagging contest a few weeks ago.Jack was nicknamed a "Swiffer Wagger".He even won a trophy
st 7/32 is someone who st 6/21, but spelled wrong Marc.
if babble ever updates my profile pic, you can see my newest mutt.
st7/32 is the medical name for snoring sounds

I guess it is the de8 I need a clue for
I found the de8 thanks
how are tail wagging contests judged, min?
So it is the co7 that I am still looking for. Can't get on google as I am in China

The co7/40 is a line or train of attendants Marc Freeman
The radio station, K-104.7, sponsored a Pooch-A-Palooza event. Judges were the people who worked for the radio station. Nothing like Westminster, but it was fun anyway
yeah, I didn't get that clue. Is it a co+a 5 letter word? If so what are the stats of the 5 letter word?
got it :) you know the flowers boys are supposed to buy for girls for prom? it's like that, sorta
it is not related to the co5/14 i have
good afternoon everyone:)
is it co+di5 or do5?
co 5/14 is plural of co 4/6 word.A co 7/40 is tennis cou** plus the ending of person who's protected Marc Freeman
Hello crosshair! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid

sorry I am driving everyone crazy

wanna move across the country and be my receptionist, minver? get some space away from hubby?
That sounds like an excellent plan. Min needs all the space away she can get. Go for it Min.
if you get here today, I will share the banana mango brunch fritters with you :)
Banana mango fritters? What is that? Trendy new age cooking meets traditional Southern?
it's what happens when Bruce goes off-recipe :) think banana bread batter with mangos, fried.
top it with icing, and enjoy the deliciousness.
Hi folks! May I please have a clue for tr 6/21?
That sounds tempting jedraggon. Sometimes I feel like if I were to move to another country it still wouldn't be far enough!Thank goodness my dog helps me keep my sanity
A tr 6/21 word is three prefix plus a lyric poem lexophile
Hello lexophile! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Fireworks! Can't believe I didn't see that... thanks Minver :0)
Congratulations lexophile on your fireworks!Good for you
Min, you and Ruby and your dogs that help you keep your sanity. You are both good women who deserve better than that.

HEY ALL. ITS WALTER. SOMEHOW MY MOM GOT THE E-COLI VIRUS. WE THINK FROM SOME NASTY ASS VEGGIES. ITS FUNNY BECAUSE WE ALWAYS WASH AND OR COOK THEM. SHE IS DOING MUCH MUCH BETTER. SHE SHOULD BE HOME MONDAY AT THE LATEST. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS!!!
Sorry to hear your mom's sick, Walter. Tangentially, E. coli is a bacterium, not a virus.
OK IM NOT THINKING
MY MIND IS ON OVERLOAD
I hope nobody else in your family gets ill.
Hey Walter. Please pass on my very bea
Hey Walter. Please pass on my very beat
... BEST wishes to your Mom.
Walter, good thoughts and prayers out for your Mom. I have a candle lit for her.
I will thanks
Hey Molly. I read your post to Walter in an Irish accent. :-)
I was taught at a young age to light a candle for an intention. That has never left me.
Well, it sure as heck won't do any harm! :-)
It's a symbol of light being sent.
Ya hear that, Walter? Loads of positive vibes being sent to your Mom.
So what's new on your island Soodle?
Yes I do. Ty all!!!
Not a whole lot, Molls. The weather is October-ish, the evenings are getting dark very quickly, but that's ok. And how's life in Molly-Land?
Not too much. Still dreaming the dream.
Hello Walter. Please tell your mom Minveryork is wishing her a speedy recovery. Glad she will be home very soon!
Hello Min. I haven't 'seen' you in a while . :-)
Me to Minver. I will tell her. I finished the puzzle for her. See you all later.
Oooh. Breaking news! Son of Soodle attended Royal Ascot today (far from Royal anywhere he was raised), but he saw the queen!!! It's undetermined yet whether she saw him....
Hello Soodle! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
Well done on finishing the game, Walter!
Thanks Min. :-)
Oh I'm sure the Queen saw him. She is always on the lookout for handsome young men. *Imagines Son Of Soodle doing shots with the Queen later tonight*
co 7/40 please?
Co 7/40. A procession. Like a funeral co*****
thanks Soodle, I'll have to think about that, not coming to mind right away
Well, obviously, Molly! So of Soodle has probably received a knighthood by now.
c + Daniel O6...Nicaraguan politician with a different last vowel
Think 'funeral procession' and you'll get it, Luv
thanks, got it now for fireworks
I guess I'm part of the dumb crowd who has never heard of that word used as a funeral procession. It seems like an ancient word from the definition.

It's better when I sing Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show : D

Hi Soodle! hope all is well in Soodleland.
Lol Annie. Things could be worse!
Annie if you have seen Neil Diamond in concert, I would guess you have heard Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show. It is a show stopper for him. You should check it out on YouTube.
But, bless you, if you have to judge the great Soodle/Molly Neil Diamond sing-off...
Just wrote Brother Love's show down. Will look for it later.
It will be a packed house for the Soodle/Molly Neil Diamond sing-off
Congratulations penquis on your fireworks! Good for you!
