Hi Dee :) Grats Ruru!
wtg, ru!!
3 more to go here :)
there are two really strange ri's dee
I found those
really really strange
missed 2 simple ones and a plural fireworks
I had to go to a2z to find it
well done dee
Grats Dee I just started got a ways to go
they were new to me, too... Italian for full... not sure why they are acceptable
ty vm
flows pretty fast, mel
full of what :D
good one, ru
I can tell you what enable is full of
had a busy weekend... daughter and son-in-law moved back to town :) for a good job opportunity for sil
lovely Dee
nice to have her back I bet
keep pinching myself, cannot believe it is real.
She has been gone for 13 years :)
That is great Dee, I have the grandkids here for one more week. They are home schooled so I have been having fun teaching science and geography.
wow.. dee
They have always lived in Indy, so pretty surprised they wanted to move back to our small town.
Oh, mel, how cool!
Wow I bet super nice then!
We told them if they did this, they had our permission / blessing to move back to big city at any point (in case they hate it).
They love boating / lake sports, and our county has over 100 lakes... so they might be content here... we'll see.... fingers crossed.
I found a national geographic volcano lab at the thrift store for 5 dollars so we have been studying those.
Great idea, and so interesting! Did you make an exploding volcano?
They are probably ready for some kick back life.
May, be, mel :)
Yep it is set to erupt Wednesday, after they finish the other studies about it.
I would lava the volcano alone if I were you
She'll have quite a bit of driving for her job, so praying she stays safe on the road. That was such a fun study in social studies, and the eruption was soooo fun!
LOL ru!
one shouldetna mess with volcanos
They are 8 and 11 so have to do almost 2 different sets of study
Lol Ruru
3 years diff would be a big one for that study. Two lesson plans :)
FWs
Bet you enjoyed every minute, mel.
wtg, diz!
How have you been, flosey??
Well hopefully the commute will not be in a lot of traffic for her.
are you home now flosey?
good thanks Dee,
Grats Diz!
congrats diz
yes ru, was only in Ontario for 3 weeks
Nice to see you; we haven't been here at the same time lately. I missed you!
oh.. ok
Were you in Ontario at the time of the shooting?
was a bit rough on hubby, very busy time for him
was that where the shootings were in Canada?
thanks Dee
cooee and g'day from me
Her territory is entire state, mel, so she will be making a "circuit"... lots of miles on the road :(
hi gr
yw, flosey
(((rose))))
Science is easier to teach for both geography is 2 total different lesson plans.
{{{dee}}}
yes ru, shocking, my sons both worked there when it opened, weekends and thru summer, while still at school
I love geography
Yikes, flosey...
I don't understand how someone can just shoot innocent people.. it boggles my mind
It's not like they're hunting with Dick Cheney and have to defend themselves
Me, too, ru...that kind of crazy is mind boggling.
too many crazies around - that's 2 for Ontario within a week
Oh wow, my DIL starts that soon she cleans surgical instruments and has some kind specialization where they go from hospital to hospital on a contract. Not totally sure how that works but it will be 5.00 raise plus traveling expenses.
wow.. really sad
I can fathom the passionate shootings, occurring from angry explosions, but the innocent slaughters make no sense at all. Heart breaking.
passionate shootings? what's a passionate shooting?
I love geography too Ruru
Neat, mel... our daughter works for a large orthopaedic company and has similar type of set up... Anger as result of violent domestic abuse... passionate response to that situation.
oh..
I don't approve of shooting anyone, but I can at least get how that type of shooter got to that point... these other hideous shootings are unfathomable.
I was kind of picturing being shot after sex
LOL
:D
guess that means you'd die with a smile on your face?
LOL
or a smirk
Too funny
Lol
so long as it's not egg on your face, ruru
Ru: that was fabulous Girlfriend.. yeah.. but now I have to take you out
sounds like a Godfather script
talk about hitting the mattresses :D
Washington had a school shooting as well sheer madness
Groan
yes.. that was tragic too
we went and saw the movie ' thisis where i leave you ' today. talk about a gamut of emotions.
wow, another school shooting, that is frightening
I can't imagine killing another human being.. for any reason
??? mel, another school shooting? when?
in seattle granny
4 students shot one died, 3 in intensive care and shooter is also deceased, they are still sorting it all out. Me neither Ruru unless it was life and death situation.
oh, dear. that is so tragic. do you know how many were hurt this time?
haven't heard of that one, rose. Do they have any clue why, mel?
A teacher 'i think' grabbed the gun it went off in the struggle and shot the kid who was shooting.
Was she female?
Yes
wow
i feel that the world has become such a crazy place today. 25 years ago i would not have believed it if someone told me what would be with all these killings and what is going on with beheadings in the world. if you want to read something, go to the new york times and front page article on what happened in syria with the reporter etc. who was beheaded. it is hard to believe that this is really going on. are we humans worse than the animal world??????????? seems so.
I think I did read about her.
Well the school shootings are off the norm, the other stuff has been going on for years, we just hear about it more now.
I agree mkg..these beheadings are totally barbaric and should be punished
We don't cherish life in this age... that attitude seems to be seeping everywhere. Folks get old and a burden, let's just euthanize them.... people get pregnant because they are too lazy or stupid to use birth control, so they kill the babies... too much disrespect for life in general.
I hope we capture the culprits and try them appropriately
So do I, ru.
wow.. if we euthanized old people.. babble would hardly function :D
maybe euthanize them if the DON'T finish the grid :D
Well, I need a cookie and my bed. Busy day tomorrow. Rest well all.
they don't that is
night dee.. take care
i'm just giddy from the ballgame
I really think the kids killing kids is a break down of family values, and kids not being raised to value and appreciate things, be it human or just being polite and considerate. That is why my 2 grandkid do not go to public school because of how horrible they are getting
you, too... stay safe on the road, ru
hope you rest well, dee. xoxox
Nini Dee sweet dreams
(((rose))), you, too. Have fun teaching them, mel!
mel, they are also not taught self-control.
I will Dee :)
They are not taught how to deal with anything disappointing, conflict resolution, nothing, it's a give it to me now bunch of kids
And throw a tantrum if they don't get it, then the parents give in.
exactly, mel. that is why newly weds want every thing their parents have. totally forgetting it has taken same parents nearly 40-50 years to get those things.
re
I say paddle their asses and take away there gadgets.
I say take away their violent computer games and movies
I watched a family at the restaurant the other night 3 kids and their parents. All of them on phones, never talked to each other
true ruru. the kids use these games and watch those movies, and the violence becomes the norm for them.
what restaurant allows that?
that is so rude
they were ordering take out flosey :D
total disrespect
Think about our cartoons, how many times did coyote blow himself up, yet we didn't play with dynamite
We couldn't get our hands on dynamite meliae :D
lol ru, trust you to find a giggle in our present day society
you and mr Flosey better not be on your phones when I'm cooking dinner
speak for yourself ruru. my dad's shed would have been a terrorists heaven...lol
hubby won't even use a cell phone
They texting or playing games not talking on them it was weird. Check out kids walking home from school, they are not playing and chasing each other, they have their faces buried in their phones.
Little zombies walking down the street.
what makes it harder still is the fact a lot of restaurants/cafes offer free wifi.
that is just too silly, rose
i am so close to snatching don's phone and putting it down the nearest loo.
We made bombs from match heads and pipes sheesh feds would haul you away now. We only blew up stumps and stuff like that. Well mailbox one time rofl
Yep granny I hate it.
*giggle* mel, you rebel, you.
it is becoming more and more difficult to buy a phone that is only that...a phone
We got beat for it but it was worth it, he was an ornery old frat and used to scream at us kids if we made too much noise, so we took out his mailbox.
oh, it was a personal mailbox, I was thinking like the ones where we post letters and parcels!
We used to get chunks of sulphur from the railroad tracks, crush it up, roll it in toilet paper and make the most wonderful stinky so
Smoke bombs lol
Yeah it was on a wooden post way away from his house
Oh no flossy we were ornery bunch but not that bad, lol
back in my single parenting days, i used to have a 3 foot long wooden spoon on the dashboard of my car. once when i put it in for service, when i came to pick it up, i found all the mechanics in stitches with laughter. one of them asked...what is that...pointing to the sppon. i answered, oh haven't you ever seen a christian parents chastising tool before? that did it. they collapsed all over again.
lol rose, bet that story went around a few homes
Lol Granny, my son told his wife she was not allowed to have wooden spoons, like he ever got really beat with one. A pop on the butt was it.
well it was difficult having to drive with 3 boisterous boys in the car.
ditto mel. the threat was enough for my 3
Oh I bet one boy was enough for me, and these 2 grandkids get there mom going with their shenanigans lol
My mom didn't threaten
mine either ruru. she just lashed out, nothing said, just a punch or hit over the head with the heel of her shoe.
My mom was a thrower, if you were going to mouth off you had better check to see what was in her hand first, hairbrush, spatula, and in the rare case she would take off her shoe and throw it.
Followed by wait till your father gets home
My mom was like a powder keg
my mom used a stick - once sent brother out to get one for her, he dragged in a dead tree - think that was the end of the anger - that time
Lol Flossy
roflol, that sounds like my home when i was still married to first hubby.
Glad he dudn't go out on a limb for her flosey.
my dad never hit any of us in anger. my bros sometimes got a clip around the ear for being cheeky.
Oh and holy hell don't smart off when she was doing your hair, I still remember getting whacked with the hairbrush.
my mother's eyes could shoot daggers when she was angry
dad's favourite trick at the noisy dinner tabel, was to quietly unbuckle his belt, then flick it out of the trouser stays and crack it like a stockwhip over the top of our heads. 5 kids, instant silence...lolol
As you can tell I had a smart mouth lol but I was never outright disrespectful to her or anyone, I would not have lived out the day.
Lol Granny
but wouldn't it have been funny if his pants fell down
or did he wear suspenders as well??
Hahaha Flossy
never thought about it like that flosey.
he was sitting down the whole time, which is why we never saw it coming.
I remember my one and only spanking with a belt, someone broke moms lamp (to this day no one has confessed) so they lined all 5 of us kids up no one would confess, so they took us one at a time to the kitchen to either tell or confess, we all said we did it, and we all got spanked.
Dad said 4 got spanked for lying and one for the broken lamp.
good bunch of kids Mel, backed each other
Yep we were a rough and tumble bunch for sure.
My brother and i were beaten often
With belts and ciat hangers mostly
Coat hangers that is
you poor guy. that's a tough childhood for you.
presuming they were the wooden coat hangers, ru?
I really think it is part of the story as to why i never had children
not wire ones?
Wire coat hangers flosey
You still up, ru? I shouldn't be.
Hi neil
wow, that could leave a welt
Hi. Oh man... sorry to read that, ru. :(
I am just about to go to bed
Hi all :)
Me too. School in the morning.
Hi Lizlin. :)
{{hugs}} liz girl
We would have big welts flosey...sometimes bleeding
Hi and hugs Rose
Hi neil
thanx for the pics liz. love the jacarandas
How's your day been, Rose?
Wish someone had reported it, ru. :(
Me too - it's been so hot here today. Raining now but not for long.
She was too clever for that neil
quietish. we went and saw ' this is where i leave you '. full gamut of emotions.
How horrible. It's sad some people become parents when they just hate their own kids. :(
liz, we have had the worst storm short of a hurricane. it thundered all night, and well into the morning.
True. My mom hates kids
Yup - I can see that it would bring out the emotions.
True. My mom hates kids
Yes, my niece said that too - lives in Melbourne - dog was petrified. Her parents are on vacation, so she had to dog sit!
Is she still around ru?
I know a few people like that too Ruru, my Aunt being one of the.
Them
Yes unfortunately
yeah, neighbours dogs went nuts. i could hear her trying to calm them inside her house.
I see. I guess you have no contact with her?
Heading to sleep. Night all
Sleep well, Ru
Good night, ru.
sweet dreams ruru, mate. catch you at the flip
Nini Ruru, sweet dreams
night ru, sweet sleep
going off to wash some dishes. bbl
Off to get something to eat - all that exercise makes me hungry. Also BBL
Ok Granny :)
Ok Liz :)
I'm off to bed also, goodnight all
sleep well flosey dear.
good morning all
{{hugs}} sprite. how was your night, hun? were you able to recuperate yesterday?
hello dear friend. I kept low profile yesterday, at least. Restless night again and just back from doctor. On the bike, darn it, cuz hubby took the car.
don and i went to see the film, ' this is where i leave you '. i went through the whole gamut of emotions. too many things which i endured.
bloodwork was all good, except vitamin D, rose. Should be 50, was below 10.
so are you vitamin d supplement?
ditto with mine, and so is don's. we both take vitamin d tabs, mine have calcium in them too.
she gives me a combination of vitamin D and calcium. For 2 months a double dose, and then new bloodwork. If it is better then, we go back to sustainable dose of one tablet.
maintenance dose, I mean. Sorry, still a bit woozy.
i knew what you meant, dear.
wow, sounds rather intense, that movie. You ok, honey?
i am now. a few tears, a bit of laughter, and a lot of recognition of stuff.
*hugs rose*
jane fonda is amazing in it. my god, her figure!!
i was absolutely green with envy.
lol so jelly...
the only thing she doesn't have is the skin.lots of wrinkles....meow, meow, meow
I like wrinkles. So much more character than those empty facelifted faces
i don't have wrinkles. the one good thing my mother gave me was her beautiful skin.at least on my face. from the chin down, don't look....lol
roflollllll well I don't have many wrinkles either yet, but that is because I fill up my skin so beautifully, lol. Being fat has its perks.
yeah....roflol
was stressy, I found out that my love took our car to work when I wanted to get the car key and leave... so pretty late to take the bike instead.
oh, dear. how frustrating for you. didn't he know about your appointment?
he forgot. Had told him, but you know how that goes, lol. Just rescheduled my physiotherapy for friday. That was this afternoon. Sigh. But his work car didn't start this morning so he had to do something.
was secretly glad our doctor always gives you time, and is often a little behind schedule.
ohhhh my favorite thing is in the grid!
why couldn't he have ridden the bike?
lol, way too far for the bicycle. He works in Amsterdam. Would never have made it in time.
ahhh. okay, how about a motorised bike for him....lol
lol yeah. We tried that, years ago. When he had his 3rd accident, NOT his fault, I told him to get rid of the flipping thing and take a train or a car. Too dangerous.
or a small powered scooter for you? i can just see you buzzing in and out of traffic....
Hell on wheels, they'd call me, lol. Yeah, I could see myself do that too. Well who knows.
sprite, are you on a disability pension?
yes dear, a full one
is there any where you could go for a scooter to try? like your local council?
yeah I could. Am just holding that off as long as I can. Better for the ole body to ride the bike for now.
rose, does an extremely low vitD belong to the whole css thing?
i don't think so. it links to not enough sunshine. people in england have village paths which the whole village uses to saunter along after a meal etc.
over here we have had a campaign called slip, slop, slap. it has worked so well, that we now have a whole generation lacking vitamin d.
yeah I know that, was just wondering. Just like I seem to burn through medication faster than the average person. My doctor actually gave me permission to experiment with the dosage of the lyrica myself.
I take 4 tablets a day now, and I can go to 8 if needed. I think I would benefit from 6. One extra intake in the middle of the day.
as kids we spent massive amounts of time, outdoors, in the sunshine. no protection.
what is slip, slop, slap??
but since that campaign, we all cover up, wear hats, and use sun-screen 15+
ahhh. slip on a t-shirt, slop on the sun-screen, slap on a hat
ah right. Yes, skin cancer is a serious thing. Very aggressive. But we need exposure to sun as well.
it was aimed at lowering the incidence of melanoma and skin cancers.
exactly. there has to be a balance some where.
yeah, very good, I think. But a bit of exposure is still needed, for that darn vitamin D at the very least. And I have been taking supplements, rose, that is the weird thing. Guess I need the calcium too.
brb, doorbell
our anti-cancer council has taken a massive back flip since then. my gp advised at least 10 minutes sunshine every day.
{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{rose}}}}}}}}}}}}}} thank you thank you thank you :D Oh that is so sweet of you. *hugs*
lololol.....happy unbirthday!!
*giggles* Goodies :D That would be 5spice and allspice, right?
aw and such a sweet card. Thanks, dear one.
yup. enjoy sweetie
my handwriting is getting worse. i hope it is still legible.
totally legible, no problem there
i am totally loving this. i had hoped we would be chatting when it arrived. xoxox
it had actually arrived earlier, but the neighbour who took it for me was away for the weekend and forgot.
she just came to my door with it :) Told her her timing couldn't have been more perfect.
*ear to ear grin here *
oh that wonderful feeling of an unexpected sweet gift. I have this huge smile on my face.
snap, lol
like when i received my bracelet. i hope it brings you much joy, dear.
it will, rose. You will be with me in the kitchen whenever I cook now :D Will buy me two pretty containers.
oh and I will tell Rob how he could use them too... he will love it.
these spices will open up a whole new world for you, dear. just a little warning. the chinese 5spice is quite strong. but knowing how the dutch love their licorice....
everything in moderation, lol. Except sex.
lol....except sex, of course.
yeah. No fun in moderation there, grin.
yeah, licorice is good. We have hundreds of different kinds here.
and the dvd, dear. do you have a copy? if so, please feel free to sell/gift it on.
I can't wait to watch it. I didn't have it, no. I just hope it will play on our dvd player. But if not, I can convert it. Am gonna settle in with my knitting to watch it :D
we checked and got a dvd for your region.
oh brilliant! Then it will play without a doubt. Am so looking forward to watching it.
such a wonderful cast, that movie.
and i am tipping you are going to laugh at all the same lines/scenes as i did. looking forward to your critique.
pr 7/32 and pr 8/45?
oh I don't doubt it. Have you ever seen the series Coupling?
gran, large grassy plain and its plural.
hello gran, open grass plains and someone in jail.
no sprite.
I recommend it. You can find some episodes on youtube, I believe. But there is this one scene... picture this.
sprite, just hold this thought...green bananas
i hope the rest of your family enjoy it too
someone talking through a sock puppet. Somebody else who gets so irritated by that that they rip off that sock from her arm. And she, quick as can be, pulling her arm inside her blouse and her hand out of the headopening.
will do, rose :D
oh, my. it sounds hilarious
we all cried from laughter at that one. Replayed it a hundred times, lol
and the dialogues are to die for. So smart.
there is an episode of fawlty towers, which i have to say is my absolute fave. ' mrs richardson ' i swear, i nearly laugh myself into an asthma attack every time i see it.
never seen that series. Heard it is fabulous.
"You can see the sea. Its over there between the land and the sky."
darling, dinner is nearly ready. xoxox
enjoy :D
hi Dachef, and lol
yes dachef, and ...what no herds of wildebeests? and...is this a piece of your brain?
Classic
Good morning, up doing laundry again.
ain't it an endless task, lol. Hi sukee :)
And I always put it off until I don't have a choice.
I had an empty laundrybasket. Then my daughter cleaned up her room.
I keep wanting that biting fish to be there..
so close and yet so far
and fireflies. Cute grid. Those musical biggies were a doozy though.
anything I can help with before I go?
Not yet, still working on my own for a bit. Thanks :)
Down to put laundry in the dryer
ok :) Have fun! Bye all, may you all have a blessed day and a peaceful night.
good morning everyone:)
Hi Crossy, was away for a bit
Doing laundry, making breakfast.
still boiling an egg :)
ugh... don't say laundry:(
Yep... such a 4 letter word
So, I get up early, put it in, come upstairs have coffee, go down put it in dryer, come upstairs, finish coffee, take shower, make breakfast, then downstairs to pick it up at 7 and then get ready to go out to gym.
And meanwhile worry about the cat who seems to want to poop but can't.
poor kitty
{{crossy}} {{sukee}}
Hi Rose.
((rose))
Today is the day that the Ford's say goodbye to Toronto... we hope...
crossy, you would have been so proud of me. the bully was in chog, and i kept on chatting like it wasn't.
wtg
thanx sukee.
I don't think I have seen the bully.
best way to handle it, rose:))
sukee, i am not going to influence you dear. it needs all the friends it can get.
If we are all so evil and vile, why keep coming in, why not just lurk?
Though I wish the bully well.
*shaking head* i don't know crossy. the perversity of humans...lol
Just like the trolls on Facebook.
me too crossy. it's so sad, isn't it? it could have so many friends, but it chooses to alienate us.
*giggle* i was just thinking of the expression on its face when it realises everyone it chats with, is doing so at my wish.
cro9ssy, are you able to chat with it? or has it burned its bridges with you too.
I burnt that bridge
*sigh* you would have been such a positive influence on it too.
decided it was time to move on and did not net the drama-in-a-teapot
I held out for a long, long time, rose
as did i, crossy.
oh, crossy, did i tell you?? the approval for my pension has come through. not much in the way of money, but the card allows me access to a lot of reduced fees etc.
very nice, rose. it is often not about the cash as we know, but all the perks that come with it. Do you get help with rx costs as well?
plus i have the senior's card, which a lot of businesses recognise.
I had a temp card once due to injury and though it I managed to get all my dental work that had been pending for the last decacde taken care of:)
yes crossy. i now pay nothing for meds. and dr's and physio are at much reduced rates.
very nice:)
We are allowed 26 physio visits/year though our standard health card
I know once every two weeks is not enough, but it is better than nothing
My beloved is on permanent disability so I get my drugs through her plan, so I cannot complain.
and one pair of glasses every 2 years
oh, i forgot that benefit...i need new glasses...
Yes, make sure you update your spectacles:)
once i have the actual card in my hand, i will flash it every where....lol
I think you pay a token ammount for the frames like 5-10 dollars and the lenses are covered
i have been able to use the same frames for the last 6 years.
I learned that I have a funny eye condition when I had my first exam. My eyes operate totally independant of each other to a certain degree. Now that does not cause any real issues, but it has the effect of making 3-D movies totally useless to me.. I saw 2 and wondered what all the fuss was about lol.
i have some over-the-counter magnifiers which are quite good. cannot drive in them, but okay for reading.
good grief, crossy.
I have rx readers only now and just for one eye--the other lens is clear glass
amazing isn't it? how each of us develops so differently.
regular pharmacy readers were straining the good eye so it is a good thing I had it checked out
it is indeed
sukeee?? hun?? please...i hope you don't feel left out. we loves ya!
I think she had to grab her laundry at 0;700 then head to the gym
darn...sukee has gone. :-(
Off to get all healthy:)
aaahhh, that explains it then.
I must go put some tea on,brb
xoxox crossy. and me also...well not healthy...bed-time
I'm back :)
Have a few minutes to kill
xoxox sukee. bed beckons, dear. hope you night/day is kind to you
You too, take care.
have a good sleep, rose
Okay, now I have to go. Take care.
Hello :-) I have in8; pr8 x2 Stats for the last 8 please?

LOL, Jwr
Hello, Crossy :-)

Hi all :)
A captive human
Or animal for that matter.
Morning, everyone! Going through "cat wars" here...found a stray yesterday and put up signs so hope this one will be reunited with his mama. This is one of the most beautiful and soft cats I've ever seen and he's very affectionate and engaging. I'm sure he actually belongs to someone here since he wasn't at all dirty and didn't seem to be starving.
ty zooz
Hi Liz
and Mimi
Hello, Liz :-)
Hello, Mimi :-)
Hello, zooz, bichon and Liz!
Ok looked at lickety list it is an RI 8/45
Hi zooz, bichon and mimi - how lovely to be here with all of you
My other three cats are not at all happy to have this guest...par for the course with cats.
sme here Liz
And jwr, of course - but that name had scrolled down!!!
hello friends - quick babble during library time
Nice to see you too, ((Liz))
Hello, Trif :-)
Which explains why i usually just say hi all!
Hi trif
Babbling on the job Trif? Brings back memories of the old days
hello to everyone
If I'd known about babble when I was teaching, I think there'd have been a lot of silent reading time in class!
lol
okay, Bichon? Or a classic b&w tv show about a secret agent (Patrick McGoohan) waking up in a strange village ....
hahaha liz....better than that - I am watching over an empty library this period...hit the ground running full tilt next period, but it is nice to have this quiet prep time
Sounds good, trif
howdy Liz, ((mimi))
Hi crossy
((crossy))
Used to love that show, jwr
hey there crossy!
Found the RI7 & 8 thanks to morewords!
All 8s found YaY!
High quality in those olden days, huh
Liz, can't remember if you were here last week when I announced my daughter's marriage.
No! congrats, Mimi - that's such lovely news :)
Something sad about an empty library, T -- nobody reads anymore.
Congrats to your, daughter, Mimi!
I love it in here. I would be a librarian in a second....
hint for the ri 7/8, pls
congratulations on your new in-law role, Mimi
He's upset that it wasn't romantic...they bought a house on Monday, needed her income to qualify for the loan, the VA wouldn't do it unless they were married, so Wed. they went to the justice of the peace. Now he's looking for an engagement ring. None of the women in my family do anything in a conventional way!
The funny thing is she's exactly the age I was when I married her father...at a justice of the peace!
three letter word for tear + 3rd 2nd vowel + opp of yes plural.
oh, that IS funny mimi! Congrats!
Sorry..best I can do.
They're considering having another ceremony, though.
Conventional is boring - I think it's lovely that he wants to do the romance now. Can do romantic wedding without the stress
worked for me zooz....
They've been together 3 years, living together 2 of those. The house they bought is GORGEOUS.
They're lucky to have got the house - that can sometimes be a real stumbling block for young people starting out.
I agree, Liz...never been keen on going with the flow myself...always seem to be totally going against the grain...but I like it that way.
Glad you got it, Tif!
He's a former Marine so they got a VA loan at 3.8%!!
Me too - thanks, zooz.
nbt, nbs, and duty calls....good day all. If car.eeyore wanders in, do tell her I was here, please?
Last message before I get back to work -- Tri, I grew up going to the NY public library and used to dream about having it all to myself. .... that's it, hi and g'bye all.
Bye Trif!!
Im right there with you, jmr....
ty for the ri 7/8
Toodle pips, Trif & Jwr :-)
Welcome, Bichon.
It's sad the way we are losing libraries due to e-readers
have a good day trif and jwr
Thankfully here the libraries are always used and never empty. So happy about that.
This might sound weird but hey ho. I love the smell of books.
New ones not used ones!
I agree, Molly. Books provide a more tactile and sensory experience...the feel of the book, the smell of the book...guess I'm dating myself!
That's true Molly and I still love books but I also very much love reading on m iPad.
Trif, you should have a pet named Ri7. It would go so well with Primo, Secondo and Tertiare
I write that before I saw your post, zooz...we're definitely "on the same page!"
LOL very good, Mimi!
howdy trif:) was off getting a tea:)
Not weird at all Zoom, I love the smell of books too
Ruru would have liked that one, I think!
I do prefer hardback over paperbacks but that is just me.
hello hello
Me too - but I also like the convenience of the iPad when I travel.
Ruby!
Hi and hugs, Ruby - thanks for your email
Hello, ruby :-)
hi ruby
It looks like most of the gang is here! Yay
It's funny, I have never found it inconvenient to have a paperback in my purse.
People will probably just get actual books for the works they consider most important.
I used to take 4 large paperback with me on a 4 week holiday - took up a fair bit of my luggage allowance!
I always carry one in mine, too, Molly...especially since I take the bus.
Oh I see Liz. I don't read that much when I'm on vacation.
That should have said a 2 week holiday!
It amazes me how much stuff ladies can stash into their handbags!
Thankfully, our new-ish public library is one of the cornerstones of our community. There are book clubs going on there, writers clubs, kids reading groups, local art presentations as well as full computer facillities and e-book loans just to name a few things. Our town council also made the wise choice to store all the towns archival records there in original document form as well as digital copies for anyone to reference at any time.
I used to read more when I did lazy holidays - lots of sitting by the pool but now tend to want to see more stuff and sit much less. But still read in the morning and evening.
I still think libraries are a great institution and hope they continue for many more year.s
Nice to hear it is being put to good use, Crossy :-)
it is indeed. it also has a "green roof" that has solar collectors and a full tranquil reading garden with benches
When I used to travel, I carried whatever books I could read in the allotted time and then give them away. I love giving away books
though that part is pretty well done for the season
Love the sound of a reading garden :)
ooh I like the sound of the quiet garden area.Wonderful!
On a different note, I really let my ex have it full force on the phone yesterday. Won't mention content but I'd been saving that stuff up for 30 years!! I feel somehow "lighter" today.
Snap, Liz! lol
That's a good idea Ruby but I tend to hoard books - hate giving them away.
lol
Whenever we have houseguests, I encourage them to read many of the books I've read and tell them they can take them away with them
WTG Mimi - liberated woman :)
Mimi is emotionally purged
nothing like a good venting
Same here, Liz. I have every book I have ever bought.Would never give them away. I just can't find it in me to.
When the post office offered M-bag service from the US, my sister used to send me 10-11 books/month, so we have a huge number of books in the house.
I am proud of my very own little library!
I cannot part with a book--loan them, yes, but part with them--sadly not.
I culled a fair number when we moved here but still have a lot of them.
I've been a really good sport for a really long time...decided that now I'll be raging bitch for awhile.
I now prefer not to loan - I've lost too many books that way!
My husband has his own library upstairs. Mine is a bit more spread out....
Even when I've put my name in them!
That would make a good t-shirt Mimi
I also have a 1st editions shelve..lol
I keep books wherever I may end up, so will frequently have more than one going
5 years ago, I gave my brother two very used books, now I miss them on my bookshelf:(
LOL, Molly
:(
I just ordered one that says "I've learned so much from my mistakes I think I'll make some more".
lol, Mimi
fins
I would change that for me..to I know i'll make some more..lol
A friend of mine had one made for me that says "Be very careful or I'll put you in my book!"
Sorry - the sad thing is, could've sworn I entered that ages ago!
Congrats, Liz!
potato pancakes with fresh sour cream or apple sauce for dipping is on the menu for brekkies today:) Come and git some!
Oh OK not finished yet then..lol
Sounds yummy, crossy
My beautiful boy just came into the studio to visit; he is starting to get his winter coat so looks fluffier and whiter and is very soft again.
I'm having the second half of a meatball sandwich for breakfast, crossy!
"Being a good sport" will only get you so far in life.
have a pile of leftover tatties to use:)
But I'm heading out of here now - 20 left for tomorrow. enjoy your days :)
lol, mimi
Have you ever made sweet potato pancakes, crossy? Also good with sour cream
tc liz
Nice to see you, Liz. sleep well.
bye Liz
Yes, Molly...you can't be a doormat unless you lie down...I'm standing tall now!
I make sweet potato yeast rolls that are very good
Bye, Liz!
Need to get some food now. Thanks for chatting about books.Really enjoyed that. Toodle pips for now.
I make a very basic potato pancake, ruby, some egg added, a bit of flour, make a dredge with herbs and spices then fry it all golden brown in peanut oil . Sour cream dip has diced green onions in it and the apple sauce is my own from a bag I bought last week
And pumpkin pancakes with maple/apple butter syrup
I would love those, Molly. How about sweet potato pie? I've never made it, but had it in Miami
Bye, zooz!
Oh my God, sweet potato pie is to die for
I used to do a lot of baking but since Burt doesn't eat any sweets or care much about baked goods, I've stopped unless we have houseguests
...with toasted marshmallows on top...
When I planned this kitchen, I put in granite counters for baking.
And made everything 2 inches lower for me!
I can take or leave sweet taters
I'm not much for sweets, either...I love salty things. And since I got my Celtic sea salt, I really love it.
I use a coarse Mediterranean sea salt
I find I use less salt overall if i grind it as I need it
*Sniff* I hate the thought of a great but unused kitchen. I know someone who has a state of the art kitchen and rarely cooks in it. How sad is that?
they're better for you than white ones (more vitamins, less starch), but I eat a lot of both kinds
I still cook, just don't bake much
Same thing, crossy...mine are from France. The minerals in them are very healthy and there's less sodium than regular table salt. The taste is amazing, though...I like the coarse as well.
Trust me, the kitchen gets used!!!!
I am still gasping over the fact that burt does not care for fresh baked bread and such!
I am always flabbergasted at anyone who does not care for fresh baked bread.
I got a great loaf of sourdough last week, crossy, and cut some in chunks and placed french opinion soup and cheese on it and baked...yum!
When my son was a baby (long long ago), and before he had teeth, I used to bake bread and put on honey butter and he would happily "gum" it
I like making soda bread, easy to do and take less time
mm.. sounds delish, mimi
I love my bread machine. It takes a lot of the work out of making bread.
I have been debating a bread machine for years
I used to feel that way about my pasta machine.
Mimi! Love the typo : D French opinion soup
does yours use the granulated yeast in an auto-dispenser, molly?
I used to like the hole process, even the kneading. My son has a bread machine and says it's wonderful
ROFL...Freudian slip?
whole* sorry
I thought you bought a bread machine. I remember seeing pictures of the model you got. At least I thought I did.
...or Freudian sip...
I just read through the tyops these days.
Nope, came on the edge of getting a nice panisonic model but never went through with it
typos
Ruby, I never seemed to get the kneading part down. That is why I love the bread machine.
Must be all those years of art school!
I even used to make Indian breads
OK, kids...gotta get some work done. HAGD and hugs all around.
tc mimi
Well there you go Ruby. I was never much good at wedging clay either.
I could wedge but couldn't turn, always wound up with my elbows in it.
My ceramics were a laughing stock in high school. : D
I used to make ceramic heads, sculptural, rather than round since I couldn't do the rest. I didn't have ceramics until grad school but sold most of the pieces I made
I think I am too short to use a potters' wheel
brb, i have some oatmeal-chocolate chip muffins that are supposed to be baking..
I find it very sad that music and art are falling by the wayside in the lower schools
Absolutely, generations of children are being "educated" with no appreciation of music or art.
... I question if they're even being educated ... the numeracy skills of many kids getting out of elementary school aren't worthy of the word "skills"
I agree, dose, and it's evidently no better in France. Everybody complains that the children don't know how to write or spell correctly
... generally the kid's parents don't ask to see if homework is done or check that it's done so the kids know that they don't need to do it ... so they don't learn ... and the parents complain ... sorry, that' s my rant
My son was rushed through high school , so, since he was just laying around the house and doing nothing but eating me out of house and home, I sent him back to school.
... sure ... but you're an exception
I taught art for a long time and, since there was no curriculum and I could do as I pleased, I developed an art history course fo elementary school students
... generally the parents are too busy to raise their kids so they want the schools to do it ... except schools can't ...
... now everything is on the curriculum ... except the provincial curriculum for math was drafted by a history major ... who knows who drafted the histroy curriculum ... and the kids aren't interested anyways because it's not related to their jobs ... at McDonalds
try and pay a mortgage with a McJob...
... heavens ... try to buy a car ... or do anything which takes time like start a family ... ... those things just aren't going to happen ... lordy I'm pessimistic today
quick, dose, I'll bake you some bread!
... I'll be right over to eat it
mmm,fresh baked bread:))
you'd be welcome!
my muffins will be out of the oven in 15 min..common over:)
I thought I smelled something wonderful.....
I use the jumbo 6 muffin tray:) No tiny muffins in crossy's house!
...problem is I need to make three trays:)
I'm feeling inspired; I think I'll bake something this afternoon
... sorry ... I eat them too fast ... need small ones or I put on too much weight
... excellent news
Ruby, you can make cookie dough, freeze the dough in small scoops and bake as many as you want at a time.
and then I would eat them all
... and the problem with that is ... ?
Oh and that would be a problem, why?
hahah
... the only problem that I can think of is you'd eat them all and then would have to bake some more ... still don't see a problem
That is what I love about this place. It runs the whole gamut. 18 giant muffins to being afraid to eat cookies.
Or no milk, no milk might be a problem.
Molly, you know I'm a binge eater! lol
Oh yes Ruby, I forgot about your eating disorder (among your many other problems, according to Mr. Judgmental)
I can always count on you, Molly! I would send you a hg but \i'm not much for hugging....
good morning babblers
That's okay Ruby. I get the sentiment without the overly dramatic (((( ))))))
hello Annie
hi ruby :)
leaping into the NYT!
is arfer ano**** way to say dog?
one who arfs is an arfer?
Annie, exciting Series this year.
Very exciting. It will be a nail chewer tonight.
I think this is much more fun than a blow out, no brainer
I agree with you. Good for the concessions at the ballparks too.
going to start the coffeemaker
... and done ... early today .;. may I offer a clue to anyone? ...
congrats, dose..thanks but I will plod along
... then luck to all ... ... and ... barkeep! a sunny day for everyone!
There we go. I am checking out some writing courses at Algonquin College in Ottawa. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Happy fekkin Monday, y'all!
*blink* *blink* Hello?
no one is home ;_0
;-)
Ladies and Gentlemen...Judi And The Lurkers...give them a nice, warm welcome
*bows deeply* Just throw money.
*will come out of hiding if money is thrown*
*Feels sinful throwing money at a pastor*
lol! turns out everybody feels that way!
The pursuit of money... yada yada yada.
I could forego my pursuit of money...but I'm not feeling much like a "lily of the field" lately
It ain't cheap to be a lily of the field. The fertilizer cost alone could break the bank.
Breaktime. Gotta get a nibble.
For the first time ever (I think) I had a £20 sandwich at lunch. Mind you, I don't often have a lobster club at lunch. It made a change from canteen food
ri8 clue plese
please
nm got it
i need that clue please.
ri+ sounds like a stringed instrument and pl
I always think of that as a keyboard instrument (yes, I know it has strings too)
oooh matty...where did you have that?
a 20 pound sandwich??!! omg!. Do the exchange rate and that is about $35.00 CAD! That better have been one fine sarnie!
Yeah, I can't say I've ever paid $35.00 for a sandwich.
I normally do not take much notice on such thing, but I saw that the Can/U.S rate was just about par yesterday. Big difference from 20 years ago when we were almost paying $1.50 for a U.S dollar.
Makes on-line ordering much easier.
I remember when the ski-tour buses used to come out of Michigan and the bus drive would wave 4 U.S 50 dollar bills around like a dog treat trying to get the best exchange rate. The bank rate at that time was about 40%, so I offered 20% more diesel and the other 20% was mine:) Better this way. It grew tiresome them thinking you were Pavlov's dog awaiting a command.
Glad to be out of the petroleum business altogether:)
and of course they would want a receipt for $300.00 to give back to their office...
anyways.. flashback is over and back to the grid
Last name of a famous singer is in the grid. used to work a lot with Steve Goodman.. John ***** name him for a free crossy brunch! lol
I cheated and wikied it
cross i remember why i didnt use the ccleaner now, it would require going through everything it finds and making sure nothing gets taken out that i might need. Now my IE wont let me into any social media which is how i got hacked in the first place. I didnt get rehacked though
bottom N stats please?
no4 and more so no6/18
ah ty and hello ruby:)
and hello MLF
I have 50 left; how many do you have?
We are usually about the same
i just barely started so i have way more thent that at the moment
I'll check back with you after dinner lol
i have 106 left currently and no nbt or nbs yet
THEN we'll be the same
nbt and nbs
Like I said, MLF, i would love 30 minutes with your clogged machine:) You have so many issues going on that unless you can get a computer guru in your door, i recommend you just save what you wish on a flash key, wipe the hard drive, reset everything and re-install your OS..
what is a flash key?
UBB key
usb
oh usb port?
You can get the for 8 dollars for 5 gig at wally-mart
store your critical items and wipe that machine. it is not much good to you the way it sits anyways
lol cross
thats what i think too computer is not much good and hubby is having different issues then i am as well
then start saving important stuff
where or how would i save anything? i cant een get into my email to get photos i have on an email there? Not much important stuff that i know of for either of us so..but it is an option of course;)
You can save it all to a cloud drive and then it's there from whatever computer you work from.
that is an option as well.. though cloud has proven less that secure of late..
You can get free cloud space through Amazon.
Separate right Molly?
i have heard of it and i do know what it is
You have to decide what is of dire importance. if you can get to it, fine. if not you will have to call in a tech before you wipe the hard drive
true cross:)
Most newer computers (less than 4 years old) have a re-set to factory settings option and you can use that when you are ready
thanks cross

Eh, sometimes the simplest things elude us
39 left, bbl. making red lentil curry for dinner. food shopping and cooking. no exercise today. (that update was for you Molls :)
bbl
obviously the creators of Enable never watched Law and Order....perp is a word!
It won't take perp, but it will take repo. The Enable Word List is a farce.
too true....
Too many PR words
yes, working on those now...
Just so many - and the Rs look a nightmare as well. Siigh :) How's you, Pen?
fine here....you?
Muddling along! Shall go and see my OH play music tonight in an excellent pub
cool....i went to see Ralph Stanley, the bluegrass guy, last week...
Nice!
Onto the RAs - have four, need four
there are two ri words i cannot find...will have to return to them later...
RA done - onto RE
only have those two elusive ri words to find....
I doubt I have them, else I'd help. I only have seven of those, and the longest I have is six letters
i am missing the ri 7/8....i think it's a combo but i am not sure...
Looking - but not hopeful
ty...
Found it!
D'ya want a clue?
yes, please....put me out of my misery...
OK - ri + foodstuff with pastry (apple, for example) + not yes and plural
ty....could have looked forever for those....i am done!
Yaaay! I have 6 left and about 15 minutes to find them
it doesn't take perp but it takes that word...go figure...
I know - gawd knows what it means
It doesn't take internet. Go figure indeed
3 left
it's a musical term referring to the full orchestra...
I shall try to use it in conversation
yes....impress your friends!
two left
My mother was so upset when she found out etui was pronounced 'etwee' and not 'e-tooee'
Fireworks! I can go to the music with an easy mind
Oh, too bad for me. I don't have any friends that would be impressed by a word like ri8
congrats!
OH? Old husband?
that was my guess...
ri 8 in Italian also refers to stuufed foods.
like pollo (chiken) ri 7.
chicken
ah...did not know that....
:)
I can see how that would relate to the full (stuffed) orchestra.
yes...
could I get a clur for pi6, please?
people who put little sharp things into fabric
thanks got it
the last pr7, p,ease?
Do you have the PR 6/21, Marc?
yes
Then stick a 3rd vowel for the 5th letter.
there is no vowel there
isd there more than one PR 6/21
A more so ending
pr5 written poetry, pr6 one who writes poetry
Yes Teach
And a 3rd vowel makes it a more so ending
I like your icon, Molly :-)
But there is no vowel around the last letter which is a 'r'.
'Tis the season Zoom : )
found it - it's the second (at least for me) PR 6/21
ahh add the vowel earlier thanks
PR 6/21 A person who talks or writes in a dull or tedious fashion.
Yes add the 3rd vowel as the 5th letter.
You wrote some pr5. I wrote some pr5. My pr5 is pr7.
More so ending
lol
There are three PR 6/21, Teach.
Hello all. :-)
Hello,Soodle :-)
Hiya Zooz. :-) any bargains yesterday?
Not for me..My sister picked up a wallace and grommit dog walking lead.Had a grommit head handle for 50p lol
Oooh. I think i could live without a Wallace & Grommit dog lead!! Lol! It was a bank holiday here, so it was a lovely chill day. Not wanting to go back to work tomorrow... :-(
Yes it was a beautiful day here also.Sorry about you having to go to work tomorrow, but you got to keep the money rolling in :-)
*Raises a glass in Soodle's general direction*
Bwah ha ha, Zooz. It rolls in..... Then rolls out again twice as fast!!
Ah, Molly! Slainte!
Here's to the rich stuff
Hoo-eeee! Lol
I am trying to savor the last week of evening light before we get slammed with the darkness for four long months.
I don't like these early dark evenings, do you, Zooz?
Hello babbleworld!
Nope not at all.Dark by 4pm YUCK.
Oh my God, it is never dark at 4PM here. I would be clinically depressed.
..... Summer time ended on Saturday night round these here parts. It got dark at about 5.30 today. Yeuch
Hello, Jilly :-)]
Hey Jill. :-)
hi zoozzoom! Hate going to work and coming home in the dark!
Hi there soodle!
I'm that bit further west than you, Zooz..
You know, I have a ton of Celtic literature about how we need the dark time of the year so that we can go within and be introspective. Guess what? I can do that just fine on a dark Summer night as well.
But it's a mole-like existence!
Also I would like them to leave the clock alone.Stop changing the hour forward then back then forward etc
AMEN to that!
I agree Zoom.
hi molly!
Yup, Molls! I can inspect my navel in sunshine just as easily as in murky gloom!
lol
Hubby still asleep when I get and go to work...no fun fumbling around room in the dark!
Isn't there a recognised medical condition caused by lack of natural light? Season affected disorder, or somesuch?
Molly, I am also savoring the last week of evening light. I hate it when it gets dark early
yes SAD. seasonal affective disorder, soodle
yes soodle SAD
When do your clocks go back, 'Mericans?
2nd November.
Ah! Thanks Zooz :-)
Welcome :-)
Apparently Soodle is not reading along about how this is our last week of evening light. *Pours Soodle another drink*
Hello, Peri :-)
Hi peri!
hi zooz, hi all
You'd imagine that the 'world' could synchronise stuff like that....
Hey Mollly....I could use a drink... ;)
I highly recommend Seasonal Affective Disorder lights for anyone who struggles with that.
Rough day, Jilly?
sn
Hi
lexi
sorry, my usual mouse issues!!
Most people here blame it on their cats, Lexi
Kinda soodle, staffing was poorly communicated by my supervisor. Having a real rough time interacting with her...frustrated!
Hi lexi
I have a crappy laptop, when my sleeve or hand gets anywhere near the pad it thinks I'm hitting enter...
hi
cats...hahaha
My laptop's mouse pad is off center to the left...really causes issues.. I know what you mean!
Ah, that is troublesome Lexi. I use a regular mouse with my laptop to avoid that stuff.
All the whiz kids are on tonight. No call for any ham fisted clues from Soodle. Sorry things are hard at work Jilly. I'm off to my (freshly laundered) bed. Night all.
But then I'm one of those freaky people who uses a laptop at a desk, not curled up in bed.
Goodnight Soodle. Here's to the good life.
niters soodlebum!
Toodle pips, Soodle :-)
I have mine on a table with external speakers for music blasting out..YaY!
son calling bbs
That is a good idea Zoom. Most laptops have crappy speakers.
I bought some wireless ones which give a nice deep bass & crips treble. Love music :-)
Well what I call music..lol
Crisp*
Oh good, I thought your treble was crippled : D
LOL
hello?
Is soodle still here?
No she has gone now, Ruby.
begorra!
hello zzoozz and molly and jilly
A little birdie told me you might have a visitor in the Spring, Ruby : D
hi there, Ruby :-)
I wonder which little birdie..... :)
France will never be the same
That's how we'll conquer November blues, thinking about Spring
good evening everyone:)
{{crossy}]
Hello, Crossy :-)
you are up late Ruby Tuesday:)
I WAS LOOKING FOR SOODLE AND HAVING MY MIDNIGHT SNACK WITH THE PUPS
howdy zooz
whoops, leaned on the caps key, sorry
the pups wanted snackies or ruby wanted snackies? lol
we meet at 11 in the kitchen
for a "good boys treat"
thats our ruby, can get a date round the clock:)

Rather impressive, Crossy. Would of liked the camera to of stayed on the top instead of moving about. But I still liked it.
yes, the camera work did leave something to be desired, but the artists talent overshadowed that with no difficulties.
Agreed.Loved the Rose flowers. And all the pictures on the wall at the end.
Hello again!
Hello, Jilly :-)
Time for me to retire for the evening. Happy babbling everyone.

sung
I was going to go for Laura Ingalls if he was still having trouble. Or "where the Little House" is.
so many ways to go on that one
The NPR crowd would get "think Home Companion"
then we'd go to Sweaty Balls from there
That is the ONLY kind of NPR I can handle : D
or was that Schweaty Balls
LOL.. that was one freakin' funny skit
Alex Baldwin can be hysterically funny
Those women in the skit with Alec Baldwin had the droning NPR voices down pat
oh please.. they were perfect.
that's a hall of fame SNL skit
I have a friend who keeps telling me that Saturday Night Live is still funny. I just look at her in with big eyes and back away slowly.
I tried to watch SNL.. can couldn't believe how awful it was
Even really stoned it isn't funny
Did you know that Ben & Jerry's actually released an ice cream called Schweddy Balls?
too funny
no.. I didn't know that
*Waits for someone to jump on the "really stoned" comment
*jumping*
what's the writing on the back label of Ben and Jerry's.. "takes a lickin' and keeps on ..."
Today's SNL doesn't hold a candle to the original, but it still does have its moments
I didn't say I WAS STONED molly
<-reverts to nerdy Rob Lowe
Oh heaven forbid! Gentlemen don't do such things.
