I am demoralized by how quickly you finish ruru. There should be bonus points for speed
FWs
this is the only thing I do quickly ;d

Didn't mean to insult you ruru but more details are not required...

Good doggie!

wouldn't mind a bigger grid one of these days
hope you don't catch a cold
no one wants you coffin around here :D
i'll take a giant grid on the weekend please
good night all - having trouble keeping the eyes open
I was around for a 525 ish sized grid. that was torture.
night nan
fw and off to bed, goodnight all
the biggest I've done is 744 I think
night flosey
that was brutal
so many co's I thought i'd never make it
did you finish the grid on your own or did you use lickety's list?
this grid... not the 744
I think I used lickety's list on that one.. but I got really confused
I think there were like 93 Co' words
I have a decent vocabulary, but I'd be hard pressed to come up with 93 co's
Mrs ru thought I was out of my mind to try to finish it
she said :" you are going to be doing this all day!" I said : "no, I'm not"
"i'm going to be doing it all day and all night "
I don't check every day, but if the grid is over 225, I often skip it. DH says I have the "completionist" gene - meaning, I have to finish what I start.
oh.. I have that same gene
Probably most of us here do.
good guess
at least the 1030 club
Hmpfh. I'll have to play more.. I'm only at 1011 these days. :-(
1011 is pretty good
Oooh, there's a new movie about a giant earthquake in LA. Saw the news trailer.
I certainly don't need to see any earthquake movies
Thankfully, I haven't been here for any big ones. I can miss that.... Do you have your earthquake kit together?
How is doggie doing after the ice cream?
I did.. but the quake broke all my booze bottles
Horrors!
doggie looks smug and happy
he had the audacity to burp afterwards too
I'll bet. Were you able to get a replacement bowl for yourself?
nah.. I gave up and had a popsicle
Poor Ru, a popsicle is a poor second to ice cream.
so true
probably better for me though
Perhaps... but I'd be happier with the ice cream.
I'm sure I would have been too.. but fate got in my way
72 pounds of fate
Ooh. Big doggie.
he's a big boy
He looks very friendly though. (Big dogs make me nervous)
he's a sweetie and really gentle
I've got two furballs myself. kitties
Yes. I knew you were a cat person
So is my ex
I like cats. I am just allergic to them
I could be a dog person too... but we travel too much. The cats are ok in the house.
True
And, no, the kitties are NOT vegan!
I put Dylan up in a kennel when i travel
Oh thank god for tge cats
How does he like the kennel? Is he particularly needy when you get him out?
No. He likes it. It is more of a resort for dogs
Do you have a recipe for dog biscuits? I want to make some for the neighborhood doggies. (Peanut butter based)
Ok, so the movie is coming out over the summer and it's called San Andreas
I dont do biscuits. D is an allergized dog
Yikes. Perhaps it's time to move.
Well don't fault me for not seeing it
ha. (too tired to work on a punny reply)
what's he allergic to?
this grid resembles something that might happen if a six-year old had accidentally turned out the tiles on two Scrabble sets and was trying to sort them out again before daddy got home . . . . or the leftovers from a ransom note written in Hawaiian?
Ragweed. Grass wheat olives you "ñ'
woman gave birth to a baby on a plane from SFO today. Coach... middle seat.
Wow
great comment, ru - that second one
(speechless)
I may be the only one who ever got that result from ru!
... true. He's not easily rocked
Ok, it's bedtime. Night all. -- Ru, don't keep all the rain up there, we'd love some too.
I am thinking if it was United. They'd have charged for the seat
You can have it spell
It was Southwest, lucky for her.
Thnx. Night.
Don't give our rain away, ru
Wow finished this grid even before I finished my first cup of tea :-(
g'day zooz. it is a very fast grid today.
Too fast, Rose. How are you today?
how's the weather over there?
zooz, com si, com ca. i try to not complain...
hinner
it was the funeral of my brother's wife's father today. fascinating experience.
nope, ish, no such word...lol
In the south where I am it is a bit damp and going to get wetter & windy for the next couple of days.Up north they are having severe tidal surges and very high winds also.
memo to self...no viviting the UK at this time of year.
Was it a nice service, Rose?
ugh...visiting...
afternoon all
lol I knew what you meant, Rose :-)
down to last 8 in record time
Hello, Ishult :-)
zooz, it was poish orthodox. amazing church, and the ritual follows the high church of england.
Good going, Ishult!
found all the 7's, but stuck on the 8 ???
Compound word, Ishult.
Starts with ST
then at the cemetary???? he was interred in a mausoleum. never been in one before. just incredible!!
got it ,ty
it was a day of firsts. note of interest...hymns were exactly the ones DH and i sing in church.
7 to go
Wow no I have not either. How long was the funeral all together then? Do they have a wake type of thing at the end?
Sounds like a nice service then, Rose. Did you know your brothers wife well at all?
good morning! 77 wasn/t bad enough?
need an "i" (have in5/10 oppersite to outer)
yes to the wake. the service went for over an hour, then the procession to the cemetary about 30 minutes. once there, at the mauseleum, anothe 20 minutes. my gosh!! the priest had the most incredible voice. most of the prayers and gospel readings were sung.
IN+ what ashes from a funeral come in.
Cremation sorry.
ty
Hello, Ruby :-)
{{zzoozz}}
zooz, i love her to bits. and i stood by her alll through the day. her mum went about 5 years ago. there is an hiatus between her and her sister. i think she appreciated the "older woman's" hugs.
The only time I here the priest sing in a C of E church is at Christma time.
{{rosie}}
s*
hello ishult
{{hugs}} my dearest ruby....just you wait...i am gonna smack you with a wet tissue. i received your gifts today...
How are you today, Ruby?
zzoozz" did you have frost yet.? We had our first last night
and my Raffie is OK after her surgery.
how did you know i was just about finished my last book?
<--smiling
Yes we had several nights of frost, Ruby. But now onto wet & windy weather for the next few days :-(
Raffie?? had surgery?? why ??
Did nont know Raffie needed surgery.Glad she is okay though.I knew one of your dogs was having a haircut and nail trim I think.
I originally just wanted to have the vet put her under a clean her up as she had HUGE clumps of knotted damp fur around her head and neck but the vet insisted on operating on her entropion
She will be absolutely "magnifique" when her eyes heasl up
oh, just googled it....okay....hope the darling has made it through okay. when do you bring raffie home?
Entropion is very common in chows. Ruby had it, but was never operated on. The people who brought me Raffie said that she had had the operation, but I think they lied
The vet picked her up in the morning and DIL picked her up at 4
Oh yes I remember that, Ruby.As you had to wait a bit longer before you could have them.
She rode home on my lap. That is a lot of dog! My thighs are all bruised
I arranged to do it while DIL was here because she is strong and needed to help me put Raffie in the car.
good planning, ruby
It worked well as Lisa could drive back from the vet and I could hold the pup. Husband would have been useless
Hey what happened to my post. The chat log swalllowed it up.Bloody cheek.
oh, yeah, sure zooz. admit it...you were away getting another cuppa....lol
try#2 How is that going, Ruby, Have you taken DIL anywhere nice?
We took her to Ssprite's resto, as always, but since it was her birthday, they made her a cake with sparklers
She helps a lot, but I am very tired of all the talking! And it's the same old stories, over and over again
ooh very tempting, Rose, might have another later when I get my house work done. Gosh i hate house work.Sooo boring.Except hoovering..for some reason I like hoovering..lol
Thats sound snice then, Ruby.hope the cake was delish!
that is funny, zzoozz, hovering is the one household chore I have not done since I was 10. I would rather get down on my hands and knees and pick lint off a carpet or scrub a floor!!!!
lol, zooz...as does my DH. ruby....will that be sprite's and mine resto by next year.
Yes the last time DIL came down to you I remember you saying they talk about the same things over and over again.
for sure, Rosie, I will re-na,e it
name*
Have you googled it? L'Amandier in Veyrier du Lac
i am so looking forward to giving you a hug in person.
Chavoire?
very good, zzoozz. Chavoire is a hamlet between Veyrier and Annecy leVieux and I didn't know it would even be listed. Pretty, innit?
Yes it looks very nice inside.I can see why you go there on a regular basis!
And the view is superb
oh my, ruby...it looks superb...
Ruby I just panned the map out from the zoom. You are near switzerland!
yes, straight south of Geneva, 35 minutes from the airport, 45 minutes from downtown
In googleearth you can practically see my house, 47 route de Morat. And you might even be able to see the sheep in the field across the road
No wonder it is eautiful in the summer..lol
B*
i am so excited...the other side of the new year, we start planning our trip in earnest.
So you are very close to a big lake then. very nice.
we are between the lake (below) and the cliffs (above). The view from our house is wonderful
And unobstructed in either direction
We could never have afforded a place like this in the US
Yes I can see you on the map with your shopping from the super market :-)
that is, if such a place existed -- perfect climate, enclosed (large) garden, etc
Can you see the dogs? LOL
or the sheep?
Yes they must be an old photo as they need a hair trim :-)
No but I can see a fair few of the houses have outdoor swimming pools!
the sheep, me, or the dogs?
both side s of us, we just have a round fishpond
previous owners had excavated for a pool in the lower garden, but we had it filled in asI can't swim and Burt had no interest
No good having something you both do not need.
and with a risk of dogs falling in (like poor old Max drowned in the fishpond)
off to the brasserie for lunch
Bye kids XX
Hope you have a lovely meal, Ruby!
enjoy ruby
I too am off to do other things.Enjoy your evening, Rose and sweet dreams also.Happy babbling everyone.Toodle pips for now.
xoxox zooz mate
hi, all. very quick grid today
yes angel, very quick. are you good?
I am, granny
*waiting, waiting* c'mon sprite...
SPRITE!!! WHERE ARE YOU??
it's after 10:30 pm here. and my fingers and keyboard have a life of their own. neither of which is connected to the other...lol. xoxox to my dearest sprite. hopefully, i will catch you tomorrow.
am so sorry, rose. I have had a series of bad nights and I totally overslept this morning. *hugs* for today and yes, tomorrow.
Hi sprite - if you're still here.
barely, lol. Hi Liz *hugs* How are you?
Just thought I'd check in - finished the grid quickly these last few days.
Well thanks! I'd missed you and Rose over the last few days, so I was just checking to see if you were here.
How are you?
I am ok. Having a bit of trouble adjusting to the much colder weather, lots of pain allover. But that will pass :)
Sounds really unpleasant. It's the other way around for me - hot and humid at the moment. Huge storms yesterday and more predicted over the next few days.
How's Tim doing?
ouch, not a picnic either.
Makes night time a bit unpleasant even with the fans. Still, not complaining. I still prefer living here to London,
not many whales in London for sure
And there are more of the nasty hissy things around, when the weather is hot, though hopefully I won't see one.
No, I'd miss the whales.
Thought there was a smallish snake on the pavement yesterday, when we walked by the beach but apparently it was a Legless Lizard! Head's completely different or something and it's definitely a lizard. But I didn't like seeing it!
I kinda like snakes. But I don't think I'd like them in my house!
Lots of houses here have carpet pythons in the roof. We don't, I'm pleased to say. The pest people check the roof out, when they come to spray.
EEEEEEEEEk
I'm with you, car :)
praise be. Now that would creep me out, lol. Aren't they called carpet pythons because they form a carpet when they are in droves?
hi car.ee :)
Apparently it's because of their pattern, sprite.
I just threw up a little...
Hubby thinks they're beautiful. I don't. You would!
Hello my friends!
lol ok. I had this freaky image of a floor full of wriggling snakes
yeah I think they are beautiful too.
I do sometimes wonder why I came to live here, then I remember the beautiful beaches and the whales and our fantastic house.
you not well, car? Or just over the snakes?
I assumed just over the snakes. Hope I wasn't being unsympathetic!
the snakes
Phew!
ah ok :)
OK - back to working on photos - still from our England holiday in June / July! Never ending task. Glad to have caught up with you both. Hugs and enjoy your days.
HAGD Liz

the kids in schools get 20min.
Inmates in prison get more time for lunch
That isn't even healthy. People shouldn't eat that fast.
Isnt that illegal?
Good point Annie.

hi Judi

done
This is a punk ass grid!
Yawn. Fireworks.
*Passes Judi a cup of Christmas cheer*
Humbug! *but drinks it anyway*
Remember what Homer said. The only way to truly celebrate Christmas is to get drunk at home.
Doh! Always good advice from Homer.
I had to laugh at "the obligatory Frozen reference" : D
Just pass me a bottle of Bailey's and a crazy straw.
Frozen reference? ?
In the opening sequence of The Simpsons Christmas episode
Ah. Shame on me. I haven't seen a Simpsons episode in far too long. Should program the DVR. Here's a trivia question. Name a TV program that's been on longer than the Simpsons. Soap operas do not count!
I believe The Simpsons hit there 25th anniversary not too long ago.
*their*
*Jeapordy clock is ticking*
Game shows don't count either.
Law & Order?
Nope.
I know of at least two. One is a childrens program. The other is on after prime time.
Oh of course, Sesame Street
One DING.
Heeeeeere's Johnny
Because anything after Carson sucks as The Tonight Show
I was into Conan O'Brien for a while. I just don't have time to watch that much TV.
Okay. Gotta go do something productive to justify the pay check. See y'all tomorrow! *POOF*
Gotta disagree, Molly. I absolutely adore Jimmy Fallon. He's creative and charming and I'm watching the show again after years of not bothering.
YIKES! Babble is shrinking!!
Hi All
Hi, hego! Yep...really tired of this little grids.
Mimi, I agree about Jimmy. He's a very talented guy.
There was only one Johnny Carson, though.
Every host of that show has been unique. I just really respond to Fallon. For some reason, I just cannot watch Jimmy Kimmel. It's a matter of taste.
Kimmel is kind of smirky.
and sometimes sexist.
I also find him visually unappealing...again..preference.
you're entitled. :)
Yep...we all are. It's the differences that make life interesting.
Fallon is great, but that is The Jimmy Fallon Show. The Tonight Show was one of a kind.
You're right about that, Molly. I just much prefer it now as it's actually lively and interesting. I love when they play games. There are enough shows where people just sit and talk...tired of that.
I really like Ellen, too.
She's lively.
I think it must be difficult to do that job every day and keep it fresh both for the audience and the host. Of course, gotta be more fun than the jobs most of the rest of us have....and pays a lot better.
Speaking of jobs, gotta get to mine. Have a good one, all.
I think the grid Gods are feeling festive, what with tr4 and me5 in the grid : D
:)
this grid is like a bad tongue twister.
Later...
Good morning to whoever is still here...
I'm here...7 remaining and stalled!
hi Jeanne! You spell your name the way my mom did :-)
It seems to be less common in the States!
I have my dad to thank...I think he was "in love" with some French movie star back in the '50s!
It does; my mom's high school French teacher thought she was French. She wasn't; my grandmother just liked the name.
LOL! I had the same experience -- esp since my middle name is Louise...Jeanne Louise, how French, non?
and I'm as Irish and German as it gets
Indeed! And my first name is Suzanne, so my mom was keeping up the tradition (my middle name is more Irish than French, though)
(and a little Scots)...the French thing must have been en vogue then! So spill the middle name!
(what's the "uu" part of your moniker???)
Unitarian Universalist
My middle name is Eileen
I KNEW it!! I'm a UU too!
Eileen is lovely!
cool! There are several of us here, I think
The site sort of attracts a certain type...not to be profiling, but yeah, it does.
When I was growing up (a long time ago now..) there were tons of girls named Sue - now there seem to be very few
Yes, I've met several babblers on various occasions - we all get along very well, mostly being women of a certain age, as it were
*Looks around for other Pagans*
I post about once every year or so. I'm more of a lurker...Same thing with Debbie -- all three of my besties were Debs! And now, a vanishing breed. Alas
Oh, the pagan thing...I dearly love my True Believer friends of all persuasions, but they think I'm a witch or something. Wish that were true!
Hi Molly! I was very interested in Paganism for some time; I still like the earth-centered focus of it.
I have thought of describing myself as an atheist physicist humanist techno-pagan, but that is too long to use regularly :-)
So I avoid all politics and religion discussions like the plague! Maybe it's the German/Irish in me, but I'm very Earth-centric -- which God, if such a being exists, would be the Creator of, so yeah, cherish what is given, I say.
That is hilarious, uusue!
Funny story - the UU church I went to about 20 years ago had a pagan student minister, who was also a lesbian. Overheard at coffee hour: "Wow! You're a lesbian witch! You have to come talk to my Sunday school class!" Very UU, that :-)
I found UU groups to be very nurturing to all, mostly non-exclusive (that would be more up to certain individuals!) -- I dislike groups (religions) that first and foremost establish themselves based on their separateness from "others."
LOLOL!
I have found some Christian groups to be very open and loving. . .but it's still love the sinner, hate the sin...so I felt that I was still adjudged to be a sinner (albeit one who is loved, which I guess is an improvement!)
But back to the problem at hand: this grid!
I was traveling a lot for work a while ago, and used to look up UU groups wherever I went; they were always very interesting people.
THAT is an understatement!
Well, I usually go through the grid first finding one word from each tile; right now I have two blank tiles. And don't even talk to me about words longer than 5 letters :-)
We have our share of "nuts" too!!!! Oh, yeah, the grid. . .I'm up to 57 and ready to scream!
I'm going for half, then I have to go actually do some productive work...
Oh, exercising some discipline -- ha! Good luck with that!
ok, one blank tile.
So Sue, you're still (not really) retired?
I am, Molly, but I still do freelance work. There is also housework (sigh).
Hello, MollyL!
Hi Jeanne
Seasons Greetings are in order!
ok, no blank tiles. I am off to write some more physics problems (the freelance project). See you all later, and nice to meet you, Jeanne! And always nice to chat with you, Molly!
uusue, I'm embarrassed, but after reading your profile I realize we have spoken before! It's been a good while ago, though.
OK, now I am embarrassed too :-) Still glad we chatted :-)
Don't be -- I'm over my own! I'm glad too! I'll try to watch for you more often and say hello!
It's a happy place here!
HELLO. 17 unhappy words left and they're all I hiding
