Hiya. I doubt I shall finish it today. I'm off to the US, my mother is being taken off life support today
so sorry, matty :-(
an7
oh.. sorry matty
Hi all :)
((matty)) - so sorry
So sorry to read that, Matty - hugs.
thanks all. She's not been great for a while - so not hugely unexpected but not fun either
hi liz -- sympathies to all australians and especially those whose family and friends were impacted by the stand off. It's tough feeling that your country has been violated.
sad to hear matty... been there........... sending hugs and strength to you
still it is a big loss matty
Thanks, Nan. It was a really horrible day yesterday - and waking up to learn of the deaths wasn't nice. This is new for Australia, but other countries have also had similar horrors. So sad that the world's such an unsafe place for so many.
It is a big loss Matty - even if you expect it and know what's about to happen.
crashing here -- see you tomorrow

Anyone here?
Hi Dianne
Hi Liz - do you have the tr7/48?
Nope! Sorry.
How about un 8/55?
No - I'm really lacking on large words! Only have 1 x 8 and 1 x 9 - so not much use.
un 8 - not a solid st5 circle
un 8 - not a globe - might be better
Was away from the computer - thanks for the clue, I'll start looking.
yw - I've finally resorted to more words - have found about 12 words - none of which I knew :(
at 7/28?
Got it - thanks again, Liz.
Just looking for that one macca
anything on the tr 7/8 just before tr4?
I have one tr 8 - the one, which is an agreement
Or more accurately a theory that is written.
Just muddled up my vowels there!
tr + vowel + end of fingers and toes
singular and pl
Thanks, Flosey :)
yw Liz
Thank you, flosey.
yw Dianne
good morning all
Now I just need the tr 7/48 to finish the t words.
oh goodie, a big one! And all the time in the world to do it :D
Hi and hugs, Sprite - very happy to have caught you but leaving in a minute. I wish I had more time. Rushed evening and rushed tomorrow.
can't be helped, dear Liz. Have a lovely time. And *hugs* for you both.
This is a first. Babbling at the airport
Hi Sprite - I must leave also, going over to Victoria for couple of days
And you have a lovely day, Sprite.
yay matty :D Good job!
Safe flight, Matty and my good wishes going to you and your family.
Hi and bye, flosey. I hope you'll have a lovely trip.
Sleep well, Flosey
Thanks, Liz. I used miles to upgrade to first - I should be thrilled sitting in the upper class lounge, but it's just not the same
ditto Liz, Matty, nice to have your laptop with you - keep you occupied
should be nicer when in the air though
but much more comfortable, Matty
Well perhaps, just for a few minutes, use the time to indulge yourself and take your mind off those other thoughts.
Yeah - I have to say, it is a lot more pleasant than the terminal. I've been to the States twice already this year so had accumulated buttloads of miles
We're going straight to the hospital when I land, so it's good, I guess, I'll be rested
Hey sprite - just emailed you.
ok Liz, checking :)
My thoughts are with you.
will think of you, matty
They are going to remove life support when I arrive - she could die immediately, last hours or *shrug*
wow that is intense. *hug*
Listening to conversations in the lounge "I was thinking of getting a purse from Chanel, as this purse doesn't fit in my handbag"
Some people!!!!
oh my freakin' God. That is a world away from your thoughts and priorities, huh...
On the other hand, it is nice (even with the circumstances) to be offered coffee, champaign and orange juice (not all in the same glass)
It's nice to be able to say what's going on here - I'm not one to be announcing our family woes on fb (and that wouldn't be fair to my brother) but it's good to mention it somewhere
Like I said, enjoy it while you can, even though you don't feel much like it. You've upgraded, so make the most of it.
one should hope not, grin. But yes, a bit of attention and some goodies make a trip more bearable.
we are glad you do, matty. We want to be there for you to give you what little support we can.
It really helps - thanks guys
*hug*
We're all here for each other - one of the really great things about babble.
amen to that
Pastries just appeared in front of me
it is magic :)
I have to say, I could get used to this
I bet!
Not the bad bit (the occasion) but the service
perhaps one day, I'll get to try it - but unlikely, seeing as I don't collect air miles.
My boyfriend/partner (whatever) calls me femme de luxe (not spelled like that - he speaks fluent French, I don't)
yeah, we figured ;)
Because my family is in the States and I'm not, it would be silly for me not to collect
I think femme de luxe is correct, actually
You should know!
Actually, scratch that - Dutch is nothing like French
:D
I've done 3 trips back to England since I've been here - but still never got around to it - stupid really.
Gate 22. Writing it helps me internalise it. I shall finish my coffee and head to the gate. Thanks guys!
Safe trip - hugs
no, but most of us learn a bit of french in school, matty. Dutch tradition. French, German and English for everyone.
have a safe trip, matty, and know that we are thinking of you. *hugs*
See you on the other side (of the Atlantic)
:)
*grin*
OK - time to get moving. Have a lovely day. Hugs to you and yours, Sprite. Also to Rose, if you see her, though I might catch her later.
ok Liz :) Have a good time, I hope, and take care. *hugs* and love to you both.
cooee and g'day from me
okies...back for my last 48....been a very sad past nearly 48 hrs here in NSW, Australia....but we will all support each other. RIP to the 2 victims, may they rest in peace. xoxo
diz, not just in nsw, dear. all over the country and world.
true Rose.
the two of them were heroes, diz.
What gets me is that a lot of peeps are blaming the Islamic or Muslim communities.....this little prick (excuse my language) was out on his own....he should never have gotten bail.
yup, our judicial system has to be overhauled...have you seen the interview with his lawyer?
not yet....where at?
he has absolutely no compunction about having got the idiot bail.
it was on live news on nine.
magistrate joan baptie has a lot to answer for, I reckon she should be accountable for the worms actions.
i am sure the inquiry will reveal all. hubby has been reading the on-line version of the metro, an english newspaper. it appears the rest of the world knew more than the general public he4 did.
peeps are going on about 'why didn't a sniper take him out' bit hard when the place was an ex bank and had doubled glazed windows.
Morning.
That is what I thought when I heard the news, why was he out on bail?
sukee, me thinks all of us are asking the same thing.....the man was deranged
hello
Hi Ruby
hi sukee
is rosie still here?
hi diz gran
uh oh pb before I barely get tarted
:)
LOL, and I almost did the same right now :)
hi Ruby and all
and back. {{hugs}} ruby
{{hugs}} sukee
Hi Rose
I've been thiking about my down under friends since yesterday 've always thought of Australia as being one of the few safe places, but I haven't read the details yet and the news coverage was very poor last night
Sounds like this man was a lone crazy man, that can happen anywhere.
sukee, ruby, he was out on bail. he had been charged with being an accomplice to the murder of his wife.
Yes, I heard that. Can't believe he was out on bail.
oh, a pillar of society
That's good that he was a lone wolf

I like what sprung up around this, people defending those who had nothing to do with it.

unfortunately, the ignorant people in our society are going around persecuting the muslims in our country.
You just blew up the penalty box
I'm sorry, I|'m a mess this morning
will slink away
They seem to use any excuse Rose don't they?
too bad, I already have all those words.
yes, sukee. it is too sad. one of the loveliest nurses i have ever met was a muslim. i love her to bits.
I think most of them don't know any people who are Muslim so they assume they are all terrorists and evil.
she is so gentle, and quietly spoken. we have had many a long chat about our God and our different religions.
Everytime I hear people in the US say all Muslims are evil I ask them if that is how they feel about Muhammad Ali. That is usually ignored.
I have to go, sorry about my mess-up
Take care, no worries.
hope you day improves, dear ruby. xoxox

Got up way too early today, I need a clock in my bedroom. Went to bed early and guess I got enough sleep but got up at 4:30 AM
are you nuts?? there are two 4:30's in 24 hours?
I guess I will have a nap today :()
lol....oh a nanna nap...i love nanna naps.
Well, the game is going to reset in 2 minutes and I need some breakfast. See you later.
good morning everyone:)
hey crossy :-)
how is une this fine morning?
not bad -- and you?
ok . . . back in a bit
hello again.
I am ashamed as I put in so many words this AM and spent lunchtime in the PB
Very bad Nel
ruby, I was waiting for a 9. You did your time. Come out and play.
{{annie}} no 8's or 8's so far or even nbt.
How are you? And is it cold there?
Im okay. Today is balmy considering the cold we had. High 40's. Should be a pleasant day.
ruby, How are you doing? Did Lisa leave for home?
It's about that temp here, too. We haven't had any dramatic weathr yet, just one morning at freezing and a lot of gray skies
Lisa left on Friday and besides bringing vearious gifes, she gave her father a nasty cold. |Just what he needed!
and what you need too.
She kept saying"NO no, it's just allergies" and I kept saying "|use hand saitizer and no kissing". Nobody listened.....
Is John coming to visit over the holidays?
She got no kisses from me!
You are spared.
No,his visit in September (or whenever it was, was enough for me. There will be various snowbird friends around and I'll probably give a very sall cocktail party, no celebrations he**
small*
Im coming for the cocktail party.
When is Soodle coming?
I make grat guacamole and have absolutely anything you could think of to drink! You know that you are welcome he**!!!
Soodle is coming in April, I think, in time for flowers
I know and I thank you. What a perfect time for Soodle to visit. She will be great fun.
Hopefully, I'll have the energy to keep up with her
She is a live wire and I'm not so lively these days
ruby, You will or Soodle will slow down.
ruby, I know the feeling. I find it hard to keep up and I am embarrassed to say "slow down" but then I have to do that and the world doesnt end.
Mornin'
Soodle is spending a lot of time around older folks these days. I'm sure she knows how to pace herself. You two will have lots of fun.
Happy Hannukah Molly
I am sure we will and am really looking forward to her visit.
good morning, Molly and bichon
And Happy Hannukah to you, Bichon
Hi all - Happy chanukah
hi ruby, Annie
and Liz
Molly, That is a beautiful menorah.
{{liz}}
Happy Hanukah, Liz
I'm for any festival that celebrates light : D
Liz I am watching "Secrets and Lies" which takes place in Brisbane
Lovely icon, Molly
yes, lovely menorah, Molly. That is very sweet
I've not seen that, bichon - it sounds familiar though.
It is very dark here in Dec as we are so far North
Thanks all. It is hard to find a pretty picture, there are a lot of garish images on the web.
It's really nice of you to use that icon.
Molly is a nice person
Agreed.
<-- loves Molly
Annecy is about the same latitude as we are
me too, me too
I never really noticed the short days when I lived in the US,maybe because I worked until it was dark anyway
Happy Hanukkah to those who partake:)
Thanks, Crossy
Hannukah and Purim are fun holidays
{{crossy Tuesday}}
thanks, crossy
:)
It is nice to not have to make a celebration politically correct before uttering it aloud:))
Christmas is very low-key he**,, mostly about family
Low key here as well. once our boy became old enough we saw no need for the hype and commercialism. Small and with love is best
sounds nice to me ruby
It is disappointing, though, that people don't decorate their houses as they do in NY and the rest of the US. I used to love that
I miss the street decorations that I'm used to from London. Here there are a few trees decorated, some solar powered trees, and some lampposts have a few banners hanging.
Our town still puts up a big tree; usually a nice 30-40 footer at town centre
Fireworks! Lots of unfamiliar words for me in this grid.
yaaa for liz!!
congrats, Liz!!!
yay for liz, I haven't even reached half yet and I'm fading fast
Woot Liz
Enjoy your days - I'm off to bed - early start tomorrow.
Thanks.
and last few years they have had ice sculpture contests on each block so the entire downtown turns into a frozen crystal art gallery untill spring thaw
sweet dreams, Liz
good morning all. Lovely icon, Molly
Happy Chanukah to all who celebrate
mornin' periwinkle
I would also find it tough to get into the Christmas spirit of things while roasting under the blazing sun on some Aussie beach:)
I could use a little sunshine. I could wear a Santa hat with my bikini -- lol lol
I remember being in Hawaii at Christmas time
lol. that was a interesting mental picture:))
close your eyes!!!
Ok, must head to class. take care all, and happy babbling!
poink!
When |I lived in M|iami, once it snowed on Christmas day (but, f course, it didn't stick)
that's a rarity
*woof* and, hopefully, zzzzz/s
Christmas weather is what you're used to. I always wondered if the kids who live where it's warm on Christmas felt left out because all the Christmas movies feature cold and snow.
I see the z words are odd
My Bay Area grand kids are always wistful about that

I am so glad she will be there for you.
surprisingly good game on sunday. never thought we'd beat green bay
I was snowshoeing with Carolyn. I didn't want to witness the carnage. I turned on the radio when I left the park and we were up 13-10 at that time. I watched the rest of the game at home. The defense won the game. Well, Dan Carpenter did, I guess.
I'm back for a bit
at least the offense got close enough for him to kick the field goals, but you're right our defense won the game. hi phaeton
Hi phaeton. I saw a WW Phaeton the other day and thought of you.

Like watcha mate..hows it going.

Yeah! lol
innit geezer!
man.. this is one tough grid
written London accent: "wotcher"
Ahh that is the one, Jwr! Thank you for the correction.
old- fashioned informal, man to man, I think
I am struggling with the bigger words today, Ru.
wotcher, cock!
oh.. oopsie
really man to man huh?
did you drop a word there, ru?
Well I a bringing it up to date to include females too :-)
hat type of man to man, Ruru..Trust you!
Not*
Not that*
Typing has gone to pot.
I knew I was in trouble as soon as I pressed Enter. It's an old Cockney greeting - that's the reference, I guess.
Then there's vag, short for vagrant . . . .
*not touching that one jw*
better not!
lol
Is the chog slow for anyone else...or is it just me?
What a colorful language we have! I'm really enjoying this grid
hello all
Just you, zooz
Hello, Aslindy :-)
hi as
That took eight seconds to show up.
how is everyone?
for me, it was coming up red and when i reloaded, it lost all my words
That IS slow zooz. Reboot?
no slower than usual for me today
Hi Aslindy - I was trying to come up with a shorter form of your name - will Lindy do?
maybe you're in a parallel world zooz?
yes, lindy is perfect
Think I have been there for years, Ruru, to be honest..lol
The river of time is running fast around here today - third day of rain.
not raining here.. sunny right now
may i have a Z clue
I did see animals walking by in pairs last week though
A beautiful day here today. The rest of the week is rain & gales. Nothing new there then.
mixed gender, Ru?
ZA 5 & plural for 6
za 5 African country + plural sue
almost noon, and foggy
Or Z + what we breathe + vowel.
ty zooz, ru - one of the money words
zsmoga
LOL
damn it
heheheheheh
zats it!
Many thanks for that one, ruru!!
you're welcome erda
I have used the word HA 5/14 but never HA 7/36
no idea what you mean yet zooz
It's what happens to your voice when you have a sore throat
HA 5/14 Grim or unpleasantly severe.
ah.. missed that one thanks
kinda like a texas thing
thanks zooz. I'm not a good cluer.
I got to go warsh the clothes
lol
damn - you made me try the word
*sucker*
It is no good...I need to get some food inside me.Thanks for the chat.Toodle pips for now. Back later to try and find my last 49 words.
red-faced
I guess you can't say toodle cocks?
great. zooz gone - now we can discuss toodle pips
*snap* sorta
Hi Ru. x How are you today? x Hope you're doing well. x
XOXOXOXOXO molly !!!!!!!!
good morning
I'll make an etymological guess: toodle for toodle--oo derived from toddle (-off), pips from clock sounds
I would guess that pips is more related to the English being Pithy
pips are also the dots on dice or dominoes
morning nan
but that's likely not this use
man.. zooz is good. I am barely at 50
For Molly: Festa delle Luci Felice Furaha Hanukkah Hanukkah Feliz Zoo Siab Hanukkah Sretna Hanuka Zoriontsu Hanukkah Mazel Chanukah Feliç Hanukkah, Chanukah Somayach Laimingas Chanuka Joyeux Hannouka Gelukkige Chanoeka Mutlu Hanuka Glückliche Chanukka Feliz Janucá and
Happy uh now What IS that word???
Festival of Lights works for me.
does anyone have the z? ... clue, please?
za African country nan
Oh, no. That's too much translating! Enjoy, though.
african country/coin
Warsh is also said in the Baltimore-ese/Baltimoron lingo.
guessing Molly likes to avoid Baltimore
I lived up that way in my college days. Great city.
ty ruru
earish is not a word, just so you know
nor is tearish.. tried that too
Oh shucks. And here I thought Hobbits were earish.
indeed
Mr. Spock too
i'd love a hint towards the un8
un + round planet shape
Hobbit opened at midnight.
Oops, forgot my "x"
thank you.. no wonder.. thanks molly
not quite round, ru
I would like to see the final one jw.. but the sound in the theatres are too loud for me these days
I have yet to figure out how you un8 something x
You know, so many people say that about the sound in movie theaters (myself included). Is everyone going deaf or something? Why is the sound in movies so loud? x
I just discovered that at Interstellar. Now that they've got good hearing aids, maybe they ought to develop sound filters
Molly - aim an asteroid at it
I think it is all the kids with bad hearing from Loud bass blasting in their cars
loud because the generation of 20 somethings now majority of ticket-buyers went deaf with the music and ... as ru just said
The sound goes with the unnecessarily frenetic action
it's going to be a generation of people in hearing aids in the future I think
lots of bass does severe damage to hearing
About half my favorite movies are subtitled anyway.
ruru - you gotta watch out for the mackerel too
ha
obviously none of you watch tv with a husband who isn't going deaf!
My TV is weird.. you do have to get the sound up to really hear it.. the speakers aren't so great in flat screens
uh huh
I am out of ideas on the a's
They're awful. Ru, get a pair of externals. Not expensive.
good idea jwr.. I hate having to grab the mute button when commercials come on
The a's are pretty boring too, but quiet about it.
the commercials are still louder than the programing -- we have a home theatre system with external surround sound
mind you, I think the sound is turned up too high all the time
wow nan. Do you have close neighbors?
...but nobody in our house is losing his hearing...
YET
oops, sorry for shouting
Have to get to work.. be back a lot later..
bye ruru
I always mute commercials. It annoys me that they jack up the volume for them.
by ru - when you come back, I'll be getting ready to go to work, so another day.
It's time for Birthday Babble!!!
You can't really get away from them. The commercials come three and four at a time -- at least one of them will go louder than the others.
What's that red?
It's my birthday and I'll babble if I want to! Big grid for my birthday. :)
Oh, happy, then. Hope you have fireworks before the party starts.
No party for me today. Just a quiet day with the fam. I think I'll go for a run and buy a lipgloss. O=)
