huh. the ar4/4 is there twice, with no overlap.
Nothing worse than an overlapping ar4/4 ..
indeed, indeed.
so is the 2nd ar5/10...
not seeing that 2nd el 7

I'm tired
and don
t know enough to go to bed
np's flosey dear. i am done anyways.
* giggle* when you look in the mirror and find your keyboard imprinted in your forehead, it's time for bed.
do you complete the grid before coming into chat?
usually flosey, unless it's a biggie and no lickety. call my obsessive, that's okay. i can live with that.
no problem
ugh....* me *
and people like you and i keep in touch in other ways, so i don't usually miss much...lol...i have a very sticky nose.
I usually read as meant to be Rose - ignoring misspelling - when son was younger he was a bit dislexic - still tends to spell phonetically - no patience for silliness as in correct spelling!!! He does very well in business so has not harmed him at all that way
bless you, love. thanx for that.
don't think i told you. my absolute fave handbag gave up the ghost. so i was using a rather lovely colourful leather hold-all until i replaced it with a black leather bag from the charity shop. i hadn't quite got around to swapping everything over when don came out with a gorgeous leather shoulder bag in purple leather. brand new. it appears he had bought it for my birthday and couldn't wait.
ah rose, that's beautiful
I trust it goes with your coat, etc.
don't care if it does or doesn't...most of my clothes are either purple in various shades or pink, again in various shades.
ah, so it will blend
guess what my favourite colour is?
lol
when we were married, my bridesmaid wore purple (also her favourite colour) and my two little flower girls wore three different shades of purple.
wow, bet that was beautiful
mine wore a french blue, flower girl wore white
well, it certainly was different to my first wedding where my mother dictated everything.
oh, flosey, that sounds so pretty.
not really sure how to describe 'french' blue - but I loved it - sort of medium shade
oh!!! my mother did not have any say!
sort of a deep sky blue?
quite deep as a sky blue
sweetie, the first time round i was as poor as a church mouse. didn't have two coins to rub together. i didn't really mind, so long as we got married.
I kept them simple because they were all married and raising small children - they could wear them again - daytime length
ah, I was 29
the second time around...it was all my way. we walked through from the church to the hall where are very lush afternoon tea was laid on for all our guests ( about 150 of them ). and later my mother said disparagingly...it was a lovely country wedding.
but i really did not care. i was married to my beloved.
he had 3 yrs to his degree plus 5th yr Education to allow him to teach
good for you, Rose
he had to pay his own U costs so had to work for a few years to pay it
isn't amazing!! first hubby had no qualifications at all, except he captured my heart when i was 13. second hubby says he has never met a woman so knowledgable as i am. (he moved in very small circles)...lol and he has three degrees to his name.
there you go rose, he sees you for all that you are
you will love this. don has bought a t-shirt. on the front it says...i don't need google. my wife knows everything.
love it!
want me to send one for mr flosey?
lol, he'd wear it
oops!! dinner ready. maybe catch you later. if not, sweet dreams my dear friend.
what size is he"
ok, enjoy, catch you tomorrow night
not sure what to say there, will send chest measurment
chest measurement is good. xoxox dear
ok, goodnight for now - enjoy the rest of your day

and hi again Chris

and back in time to wish dearest flosey sweet dreams. xoxox
good morning all :)
persistence has paid off. {{ hugs}} my dearest sprite
hehehe hello my dear friend *hugs* Sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it.
ah well, hin. it happens. but today was pretty bad. i actually snapped at don.
he loves you enough to understand, darling. It happens. Sending you healing vibes... you are gonna have a btter night tonight.
i do so hope you are prophetic, sweetie.
I am Cassandra. Of course I am.
i should have known....col
*giggles* Yeah what can I say... I am used to people not believe me...
believing*
i saw stiddie briefly today. she was exhausted. i didn't want to bring up anything new into our dialogue. she and stidgmere had been walking through a large sort of plant nursery.
all good darling, all in good time
oh dear. we are watching ' new tricks ' one of the characters was a tad terse, shall we say? another character asked...who p****d in you handbag today?
roflollllll I like it
and i ask you?? why is not regas a word in babble? surely when one refills a gas bottle for the bbq, one regases the bottle?
obviously. Stupid enable.
brb...glass of wine empty...now who did that, do you think?
that damn manary

dat marigold, lol
sorry
btw, don has had to discard one of his pants belts. even on the smallest hole, his pants fall down. not a problem for me...
np :) Good to see you... I hope you are well
g'day marigold. xoxox
yeah, sounds like nature's way of telling Don he has to go it nekkid from now on
g'day to u
don is pretty chuffed. he doesn't go by the scales, but what does or does not fit him anymore.
that is the best way to measure, actually. Scales tell only part of the story.
ugh I might go back to bed after babble. Am nodding off while typing!
what aren't you seeing, dearest?
when I nod off, I don't see anything, lol
strange that!! you are a mother...eyes in the back of your head...can see through closed eyes...whatsamatta?
wellllll... tim just came home, lol, I did notice that. Then he went straight under the shower. It was film night at school... movies all night!
for heaven's sake!!!and he made it home??
oh yeah... the cold winter air kept him awake on his bicycle.
*giggle*
I didn't sleep till 4 am, but the surprise was worth it. Rob loved his card and the balloon.
good for you sprite. always nice to be able to surprise the one's we love.
ain't that the truth. And he surprised me yesterday with a rose and a chocolate heart he made himself, from a chocolate bar. So sweet,
how lovely sprite. please give him a 'virtual' hug and kiss from me.
will do :)
did Don remember to give you something sweet?
we don't celebrate on the actual day. as your DH says, it's now highly commercialised. but i had a lovely bouquet of flowers 2 days ago, and we went out for lunch yesterday.
yeah it is. We give it our own spin. As do you. Lovely :)
rose, I am gonna go back to bed, not feeling well. *hugs* my darling and I hope you will sleep well.
sprite, my darling. i hope you can rest well. xoxox to you, sweetie.
Hello :-)
May I have any stats for the bottom E please?
I think they are el 7/36 x 2
Thank you, Dianne :-)
Any good weekend plans, zooz?
If a C was there it would of been very easy..lol
Going to my parent soon to help them out..that is about it, Dianne. How about you?
Parents*
Bid Saturday night - 60 Minutes, burgers for dinner and the America's Got Talent. Tomorrow a friends from Vietnam arrives for two nights so that will be fun.
Must learn to type ( and spell).
Sounds like you have a nice weekend in front of you.
I think I can beat you on the typo front, Dianne, Wouldn't worry about it..lol
g'day zooz. you need a clue for the el7's?
and g'day dianne
Hello, Rose, Thanks but I will try a bit longer :-)
np's zooz
Hi Rose. How are things?
How are you today?
Snap, Dianne!
lol, in stereo...
had a nasty night, and had to start the day with oral morphine. okay for now.
Well, I hope tonight will be a better one for you.
dianne, i am so tired and sleepy...i think i may have a better night.
Would the magnesium not help you with the pain, Rose?
i have deliberately missed my nana nap this afternoon.
Good idea you will be nice and sleepy at the right time :-)
tried, zooz. have got to the point if magnesium doesn't work, i have to resort to valium and/or endone. this morning...it was definitely an endone morning.
on the up side?? it is less than 3 weeks until the pain-specialist appointment.
I think the valium here is called diazepam. not sure what endone is..will have to look it up.
That is good then. Those three weeks will fly past!
and australia's top rheumatologist wants me to be a part of a new research program for FM... i will call him on monday and find out what it is all about. apparently they have a NEW drug to control FM.
zooz, yup. diazepam...i only take 2mgs at a time...about once/week. the endone...i only take every 10-14 days.
Sounds exciting, Rose, you can be at the front of new drug science!
Endone here is called Oxycodone.
yeah, zooz. it is exciting.
When I need to take diazepan I take 10mg.
you have got it in one. i take the fast relief form.
diazepam*
I hope the new drug works for you, Rose :-)
oxycodone doesn't work for pleurisy! Nor does morphine. I am beside myself.
bye
And I would want to know what the side efects could be.
Hello ((Ruby))
Pleuritis is very painful, Ruby, I feel for you.Is there nothing the doctor can do for you?
I think I killed the chat...Well I need to get going anyway.Happy babbling everyone.Bye for now.
*poof*
darn missed ruby. xoxox hin.
bye zooz mate. hope your day is good to you.
darling ruby, endone, oxycodone, codeine are all different forms of morphine. i think your doc needs to look at something different. have you tried tramadol?
Morning.
HELLO, SUKEE. I'm back from lunch and still in misery
I'm tired of whining and of hurting all the time
I'm sorry to hear that.
I'm not brave
I don't handle pain all that well either.
I have muscle problems and the cold makes me hurt. So basically I hurt all winter, not majorly but it is there.
on a scale of 1 - 10, how bad is it?
Probably 3.
Heat does help though.
that is manageable, but still tiring.
I would like to spend the whole day in the bathtub, but it is getting too hard to get in and out
Yes. I never used to hurt but since I broke my fibula my pain receptors seemed to go into high gear.
I guess winter is worse for broken bones, both ne and old
new*
I guess it is part of getting older too :) I would love to take baths but I can't, I wouldn't be able to get up.
that was my problem this AM. It was very hard to get out of the tub and I'm loathe to ask husband to helpp
Good morning everyone
Our weather got really cold, now it is warmer, but the real cold is coming back tonight.
Hi crossy
{{crossy}} haven't seen you I a coon's age (whatever that is)
howdy, sukee (((ruby))
here is a nice yellow rose for my exotic french GF on Valentine's day:)
ty sweetie, yellow roses are my favorites!!
:)
time to lie down again
bye
Take care
My wife has vision issues, ruby, and what I did was mount grab handles directly to the tub to assist her in getting in and out without slipping. You should try these grab handles as they may help you.
I really want siege to be there...
she must already be gone for her nap;(
Yup.
Is it still as cold in Ottawa? We got some snow last night here.
Dont know about Ottawa, but here it has warmed up quite a bit and is sitting at minus 10c
Doh, keep thinking you are in Ottawa for some reason.
gm, everyone! stats for the Bottom row E plz?
Off to make breakfast, see you soon.
ta, sukee
Happy
Happy Valentine's Day!
♥♥Same to you Car♥♥
Got my beloved a nice silver charm for her charm bracelet and some custom made toffee from our Candy Factory. You can stand there and watch them make special orders:)
Very sweet
My better half prefers her toffe in the shape of a coin; about the size of a half-dollar and she likes to let it melt on her tongue. She does not care for the blocks of toffee you have to bash apart with a toffee hammer or the mass produced stuff. My better half is complicated:/
And you would not want her any other way!
Exactly!
Stats please for the in the second column?
happy friendship day and Ferris Wheel day all
Hi Sue
you missed Valentine's day, sue:)
figured that was well know
known
it is also International Kiss a porcupine day:)
lol cross
NM...got both of the E's I needed.
are they ex words?
No, both EL 7 and both similar

how are you holding up, car?
We had some workers here yesterday to clear off the sunroom roof and the kitchen roof. The sunroom will have to come down in the spring, but they braced it up for the time being. I feel better with that load of snow gone.
How about you?
i'm ok. a bit anxious about the weekend's prospects. and hping my niece will be ok. it's a lot different living in a house off campus than in a dorm
Mentally...I am all in.
i cannot imagine.
If she is renting the house, the landlord should be responsible for all maintenance and snow clearing.
car thats how i feel. but my landlady hasnt had the walks shoveled. and the plow puts the snow in front of the cars im too old for this chit.
most leases here are not constructed that way.
Ugh. It's been a while since I was a renter. That sucks.
lawn maintenance and snow falls to the renter
Wow. That is new to me.
the other renter actually had to shovel her car out after the plow came.
'morning, folks
Hi Welki
that happens here as well. the worst is that you shovel and then the plows pack snow at the bottom of your driveway
for the amount of rent i pay , she can have the snow removal .. taken care of
i was wishing i had just got in the car and driven south, but they are not exactly balmy either. those in LA for mardi gras are lucky.
I will be back later. Have a great day everyone! Keep smiling!
later, car. if you can smile, we surely can

hi annie. and hi, welk
Hi Owl and everyone
good morning all
hello all :-)
and good morning all from snowy western ny..ugh
sunshine and 40+ today -- before plunging into the major deepfreeze! :-)
same here une.. cept its only 20, which feels like aheat wave
ivesy, my daughter in Maine has gotten pounded too -- and i see that next Friday nite her forecast is for -13 --- that's MINUS 13
we will also be in a deep freeze tomorrow. Snow expected this afternoon into Sunday. Enough!!
we forecasted for -25 to -30. i will not be going out..not even for tim hortons coffee...
last pic from my daughter in her front yard, I could see her head and neck .. . . and that's it LOL
you are right annie..enough!
brrrr ivesy
they are getting it worse than us une...i feel for them...some places lot worse than ny.. hard to believe
i wish i could find more a words from the top right a
we get cold weather like that here frequently - be very careful, make sure that, if you're driving, you toss in some extra blankets and provisions
(and make sure your cell phone is charged)
always a good idea welki..even for short trips
tranporting 2 adult Setters and a puppy today --glad it's BEFORE the ice and snow predicted tomorrow!
i really fear losing power tomorrow.
TO that's my constant worry for my daughter -- they've been keeping tons of wood in the house for the woodburning stove . . .
lucky them
and also frozen pipes
Good morning kids. More snow all day today and then a high of minus 5f here tomorrow.
need to get up. costco has a load of battery lanterns, i want to get one. thought light would be the least of my concerns if we lose power.
they did massive research on insulation and have done a ton of it in their basement and elsewhere -- they've been busy little homeowners! LOL
scrabbs will tell you, always keep a supply of water, wood (if you have a stove) and enough food/batteries/toilet paper (!) to last you for at least three days
Yes!
my daughter would add: big container of hardboiled eggs LOL
i suggested to my oldest, who's just moved to vermont, and doesn't have a wood stove or fireplace, to see about getting a kerosene stove in case the power goes out - just have to make sure you have adequate ventilation
so, do i tell valentine to stay home?
absolutely not, owl - you NEED him there for protection :)
No, Owl
perhaps, but i don't know how much protection he woiuld be. cls is hard o n him, he has damage from his time in antarctica
yep, many years ago when i lived in Paris, the gas water heater over the sink wasn't vented properly and I had to be taken to hospital with carbon dioxide poisoning
hehehe - costco for blizzard supplies. owl, you'll come home with one battery lantern, 5 pounds of basmati rice and a big screen tv
lol but i really need that tv, do not have one
welki LOLOL!!
My bunnies are in the grid. I have two mini-Re***.
:-D
I have my 1992 TV still.
you forgot the jumbo packs of tp
gotta run --BBL -- HAGD!
later, une - enjoy your setters
bye Une
i like costco. even though there are only the two of us, it works out. whatever i can't store, i share with friends
Scrabs, you're having bade weather, schools closing.
*bad
ooh, the ski shop up the road has electric gloves!
I'm in Richmond, but we're going home on Monday
my hands are never warm enough
welki, we shop at Costco too. We've always managed to store the extras
get a package of hand warmers - or the electric gloves (do they light up?)
I could use some electric gloves
^5 bich - just have to know how to shop
Bichon, local schools have used so many snow days that vacation days will be taken away in the future.
:D perhaps the heated innersoles as well
costco discontinued the flautas i love. i am peeved,
scrabbs, my grand-daughter just started school in vermont about two weeks ago - she's had more snow days than school days
Here too. They're taking away from April vacation and extending to later June
What are flautas, TO?
We don't have Costco here but we have BJ's and Sam's CLub which require memberships. I belong to BJ's Wholsale Club but the closest store's roof collapsed under 7 feet of snow during the massive November storm. It will re-open in March.
it's tough for her, she's so tired (she's only 5) and, even though she has a younger sister, she's lonely. she started skating and sledding, but it's too cold for that now
like taquitos, flour tortillas, chicken, but baked
I shop at BJ's too, but I generally like the produce, meat and fish at Costco better
She will make many new friends soon enough, welki.
poor kid.
Welki, kids can start school in the middle of the year?
it's a hard move. my son in law took a position as manager of ems and it required relocating from jersey - my daughter, the picu nurse, just started orientation in the er (glad she found a job right away)
bich - transferred from another school
Burlington?
south - bennington
need to go, computer needs to go to repair shop. hoping it does not have to stay.
later, owl - enjoy your valentine's day :)
One of my cousin's lived there years ago and loved it.
i think i will be enjoying it alone. but i did buy stuff for a special meal and lots of milano cookies :)
it's a nice town - when i was young, i used to rent ski houses in the area. close to albany, if she finds the small hospital scenario confining
(don't forget to pick up your godiva chocolate liqueur, owl!)
morning all
hi dan
hi dan...will you be in the freezer today as well?
I have a bottle of Godiva chocolate liquer (unopened)
Hi Dan
oh, annie - now expect a visit from owl, it's her favorite
I'll be ver in a few hurs. i'll bring the vanilla vodka.
she will be very welcome
Hi Dan
Welki, I just looked at the map--Bennington is in a great area--Green Mtns, parks, lakes, rivers--heaven!
and a pot of beef burgundy and mint milanos
Owl. Im setting the table
:D
i think that, once they're able to start exploring and meet some people, they'll like it there - big change for my son in law, who's never lived small town life, but familiar territory for my daughter (who went to an elementary school that had one classroom for each grade)
hello...anyone have stats for a 7?
EL 7/36
hi 7.32
actually, our county seat in jersey was as big as bennington; our town had only a few hundred people
ty
Moving is very difficult. I cannot imagine moving away from where I was rooted.
gee, which town was that?
scrabs, that is heritage. brings home how bad it was in the homeland when they would cross an ocean for a better life.
My grandparents told my mother that hunger will push people to emigrate. My grandparents left Italy at about age 20.
my father had polio as a child, the US would not let him in unless he had someone to say they would support him..he lived in Italy for 5 years (17-21). His brother vouched for him. In America no one had to support him. He did well.
Good for him.
Yes, good for him. He was an orphan. His sister left him in Poland. I have no idea how he came to be in Italy (genoa). He spoke Italian fluently.
Actually, he spoke 6 or 7 languages.
He was originally from Russia and they crossed the border illegally into Poland. His father was imprisoned and died in jail for crossing the border.
Oh, no.
That was in 1919.
I wish my mother had spoken Italian to us when we were kids. To grow up bilingual is uch a gift for kids.
firewords! tx all cluers - ai6/24 was my last, ends like "no re6s"
Yay, Dan. Have a fun day with your ladies.
this grid has some interesting choice of words in it considering it is Valentine's Day here in the US
i have a niece and nephew that are bilingual they speak English and Spanish
nbs
Yes, I wish my father had spoken Yiddish with us and Mr. Bich had spoken German to our two kids
thank you Scrabbs
stats for 2nd column D?

*happy Saturday dance* Good morning, all!

NBT/NBS for crossy:)
1st pass done: 117/58 - gotta go - happy babblings all and take care - "poof" - wd cross !
Hi Monty
And now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!! Louisiana is the prison capital of the world with 1 out of every 86 adult residents being behind bars. It is the highest ratio in the United States and twice the national rate:)
Why I never go there. lol
of course this is not a solid total. Shankings may alter the number from time to time.
Here, we just make people drive through Brandon, Manitoba:))
:)
Something like 80% of the town revenue is generated by traffic tickets:)
We all have our crazies.
Wow. Those are some sad stats, Crossy.
even our CAA warns travelers to bypass the town:)
I will do happy stats tomorrow:))
And shame on Brandon, Manitoba!
Looking forward to happy stats...
Does RCMP have jurisdiction or does the town have its own police force?
WOW! Mail delivery is really early this a.m. He usually doesn't get here until about 3:00 on Saturdays. Must have a date this afternoon.
Off to brekkie. *POOF*
I do not know, Judi. here for example, we used to have our own police force, but have since been assimilated by the Ontario Provincial Police. RCMP have jurisdiction country wide.
Ah, the glamorous RCMP>
They are more for show. You do not generally see them jammed in a police vehicle doing a patrol
I'll bet.
But they are glamorous.
Though they are handy to cut through red tape to bring a bad guy back to a particular province to be tried
and romantic.
Saying that they are heavily used up north in the inuit communities
Oh, interesting.
Often you have one officer who handle 5 villiages that are only reachable by plane or boat and the area can span hundreds of miles
Later...
tc hego
Hello again.
wow cant believe it is snowing.. lol
Wow, I can't believe it Isn't snowing!:)
even better crossy lol
so annoying when i walk outside when its snowing have to take glasses off cus they get spotted. course then i cant see....
There is a travel advisory in Erie COunty but I will drive the few miles to the park later to xc-ski.
I just like it when I am able to find my car without having to use a wooden stick to probe underneath the snow drifts:)
they must be getting it worse than us scrab..so far
It has been snowing lightly all morning but my cousin in Amherst cannot see the house across the street.
lol. You guys are getting the snow today and we have a severe cold alert issued. Seems wee are going to hit the fable minus 40 C/f level tonight!!
Tomorrow our high will be minus 5F.
fabled*
... oh don't say that crossy ... I haven't gone out yet to shovel last night's snow
ghire
lol, we will be 35 degrees colder , scrabby(with the wind)
No skinny dipping tonight!
I don't see any more words, so I need a break. 55 left. Brrrrr, Crossy. Stay warm and safe.
I have my beloved, a bottle of single malt, and a good book to keep me warm tonight
... Leafs and Habs on TV and all's right with the world
Gave up tv as a bad job almost 2 years ago now:)
I have Netflix if I need some entertainment though...
... true .. but you can always stream from the internet
I use to love hockey in the 80s, but all those exapansion teams that came on board kind of took the magic out of it for me.
... or do it the traditional way ... and listen to the radio broadcast ......
Now that would be interesting. i have not done it that way in years
... you can usually get them for free from NHL.COM ... the Habs french broadcast is really good ... better than the English and better than Joe Bowen doing the Leafs ... and certainly better than any of the American radio guys
... but sometimes ... unfortunately like tonight I expect ... Bell and Rogers require you to buy the TV broadcast ... so I end up at the bar
Yes, a good announcer can make or break the audio only experience
Sadly, my french has deteriorated to such a point that every time I use it i either get arrested, or i get my face slapped in some bar by a lovely lady...
... My daughter is at school with Danny Galavan's granddaughter ... she didn't even know that he used to do the Habs radio and TV ... ... I had to lend her my DVD of the 10 greatest Hab's games so that she could hear him ...
... fillet - net .... lancer - shot ... avoir de crochet - hooking ... bout - goal ... recognize the players names ... ... what else do you need? ... just go for his excitement level
... ah well ... 80% ... time to go shovel snow ... before we get more tonight ... ... luck to all
<--thinks sexert should be a word
To exert one's self while...yeah, that works. Or were you thinking of a sex/pervert combination?
to overdo it :D
Pervert? Moi?
Conversation around the water cooler..."What's wrong Bob?"..."Oh I pulled a muscle. I sexerted myself last night."
well now we have a travel advisory.. think we have all the warnings now..
the main thing is on valentine's day is to not sexert yourself
morning chilluns
morning jes
but i want to sexert myself...
I think it's funny that or 6/24 is in the grid on valentine's day
got big v-d plans, ruru?
I always want to sexert myself
:D
nope.. none jes..
vd..omg.. soooo sorry
not ready yet
Ru, sorry about your VD
lol
They have shots for that you know
think ru should def. get the shot
Ha4, se6/33 or 6/24
ha 4 is only in the grid because phaeton likes it that way
MYODB Ru!!!
LOL
Valentine's Day...the day men buy roses hoping they will get a little action later for the expense
and hope they can use the in 6/18 word...
and if anyone understands that i will be surprised
well.... if you mean that they kill and bury their date, ivesy.... i understood but it's a little creepy.
<oooooh

*slinks away in shame*
this grid is bugging me
*Wonders if Jes's kinkiness extends into necrophilia*
nope. actually, i didn't have the other in6 when ivesy said that.
ewwwww
there was a story about that in the paper.. totally creeped me out
Okay, so it stays at 50 Shades of Whatever
oh.. ewww
no, 50 shades is not my thing... i much prefer some consent and healthy relationship dynamics with my kink.
Hey, I'm just commenting on the conversation you two had the other day
I usually just get a kink in my neck
I am quite enjoying the comic 50 Shades of A though, which is about the dating adventures of an asexual :)
fifty shades cant compare to the outlander series as far as sex goes... makes fifty shades look like a childrens book
Best comment ever about the 50 Shades book, from a friend of mine..."oh, you mean that book for horny housewives?"
is it me or are the a's impossible?
I guess it's not surprising that I wouldn't be able to stand it... I thought Twilight was near unbearable, so why would I like the fanfic any better?
50 Shades and the Twilight series proves that any idiot who thinks they can write (and has connections in the publishing world) can get published.
this whole grid is impossible, ru. i thought sleeping would help reset my brain, but i have only found 4 words since trying again this morning.
thank goodness the in6 and the Ha4 aren't connected
that was for all the lurkers out there :D
i'm missing a A 6 from the top row a and can't find it
got it
peri must be lurking
ruru can you clue it please?
like the black talk show host that just got cancelled again.. eddie murphy's friend
do you have the ar 6/21? i'm missing that one
thank ruru
yes.. ar + part of the leg
that's a word? thanks
lol jes who knows
ty again ruru
you were expecting arpenis?
anyway, i give up. 65 words left, and i'm off to spend time with my cousin.
:D
well, yeah. it is the theme of the grid, right?
apparently

*Cues up "Sexual Healing"
re5/20 is latin kings

earlier than expected...
went to grocery store early - not planning on going out again until at least Monday
wv looks like all weekend for you according to the internet
same here, wv...
also earlier here - i had thought that they had predicted late morning to start
probably a good idea wv hope you dont get too much
pen is it sticking?
in 6/18 ...this grid gets better and better lol
oh yea, it's here to stay, mlf....already accumulating...
i am so jealous of you two
very cold here but blue skies
jealous???...you would not be if you had to shovel it!
pen that is what my husband is for but we dont get too much here
in temps in the teens with wind....we are expecting gusts of up to 60 mph over the course of this storm...
pen ugh
we are dropping to the teens at night
recently
we are dropping well below zero at night...been really cold here....
the only good thing about that is that the snow is lightweight...
but when it freezes
...
it can't freeze more than it is already...the cold makes the snow drier...
i have ra 6/18 having to do with a grape can anyone give me a clue for the other ra6/18?
this is true
this is true
one who puts up the flag is ra 6/18....
duh ty pen

We are due for minus 11F today and tomorrow with minus 40F windchill values... ought to be interesting
every time I check the weather they take a degree off the forecast;)
I should fire up the BBQ and cook some steaks in protest of winter:)
sounds good!
i just cranked up the heat a bit....if i lose power, it will take longer to lose the heat i have...
besides...i was cold!
I have a kerosene space heater for emergencies. I have to have a window open an inch when using it but it will blow you right out of my little apt with the btu's it produces 1 litre of kerosene lasts 14 hours or so
nice...
my beloved hates the smell of kerosene so I do not get to play with it too often:(
hah...
,--loves the smell of napalm in the morning
Yup, ruby your chest hair with it right before breakfast, ru
rub
Made the mistake of buying that pine-scented stuff once and everything ended up smelling like a tree--even any food left out on the counter:(

Hi Peri!
it is snowing here and some of it is sticking :(
e have none yet.
it's let up here but supposed to start again soon and not stop until Sunday night...
Hope you don't have to shovel.
Poor Penq.
expecting up to 2 feet, so i expect to shovel....
It's supposed to be bad for you again.
i don't think we will get that much really...
gosh
but i am hunkered down for the duration....
Hope You're right.
lol make some cocoa and find a good movie.
i cranked up the heat in case i lose power...
That's the worst.
i don't usually lose power....and i am on the main drag into town...
That's good.
yes, and wires to my building are underground...
My development has no wires.
Do you have electric heat then?
yes...
In the 80's here today
it's 16 here right now...
I had to turn on the air conditioner yesterday
doesn't matter Ru, if the electric goes down, the heat goes off. It's controlled by electricity.
Ru, was it cold?
I may have to shovel but do not think we will get much
We're not supposed to Peri.
where are you, peri?
Deep freeze over the whole east coast tomorrow. Damn that "global warming".
Peri is near Philly.
Peri, I hope to God you are not going to go out and shovel in sub zero temperatures.
near Philadelphia. I hate the word Philly
ah, ok....
I will play it by ear, Molly
Sorry, Peri.
ny thru way closed at our entrance..more good news
help with te7 pls
if it stops early enough today I wll shovel and put some salt on the sidewalk and driveway
my neighbor said her workplace is closed tomorrow so she does not have to go out during the storm...
This was a form of communication many years ago...somewhat like getting a wire
i have a te 7 that is a plural....
hi car...
Hello
I found the te7
ty
:)
Car, I loved your picture on your porch sunning between the drifts.
I had been shoveling that pile and found my chaise lounger....had to be done!
So cute.
bl
Car, don't you have able bodied men in your house? Why do you do all the heavy lifting?
cuz men are freaking wimps molly
i am down to 29....taking a break....bbl to finish....
bye Penq
hello
Hi Annie
hi hego :)
Hi everyone. Sitting at my m.i.l.'s kitchen table, Babbling and watching birdss come to eat food put out for them. Have had a hawk come earlier
cute how certain words are in the grid on valentine's day
hi Shirl and Bichon
hi hego
I haven't found any Valentine words yet
depends on your POV :)
ag 5/14, last one
please
Well, if Valentine's Day is about romance, I would say the words in the grid are more like what a horn dog teenage boy thinks on Valentine's Day : P
like i said, depends on your POV, since I haven't had a "valentine's" day in longer than i can remember :)
got me horny lol
horn dog?
not a breed
mutt?
lol maybe
Not a breed....ahahahaha!
:D
But they are a breed, a breed all their own
true
Last ag5 is to say someone is right about something
I put a pot of red sauce on. Somehow, the impending doom of a sub zero temperature day seems acceptable when the house smells like onion, garlic and peppers. : D
sounds good.
I always want to make beef stew when it's cold.
I make beef stew whenever I can find chuck roast on sale. Then I freeze some for later.
chili too
was just chatting with my bro about making congee
hi everyone -- lovely 11C sunny day here -- hopefully that means spring at last! Will have to convince better half to prune and spray the grapes for me soon.
Hi Nan
Never made congee.
easy peasy
congee = rice with extra water and stuff in it
isn't it about cooking rice to death?
congee is a rice porridge, common in all of E and SE asia.
you can make it thicker like porridge or thinner like soup
actually, you usually used cooked rice to make it, or "broken" rice, waste not want not
Does it have much flavor?
indeed, shirl, an hego, it has as much flavor as you add to it. :)
depends what you put in it, my fav is preserved egg (the black kind) and pork
Now I get it.
i always make it when i'm sick -- easy to digest and lots of fluid -- chinese chicken soup :)
i often do cabbage, onion, soy, broth, kimchi and more.
I made a rice pudding like that once. just milk and rice and cook the heck out of it.
and some sugar, of course.
I will have to learn more about it.
I can't stand the smell of Kimchi
i love kimchi.
and there are so many different varieties. :)
It's an aquired taste for sure.
acquired
Umm-boy, rotten cabbage burbling in your kitchen
:)
not always cabbage :)
fermented, Molly, not rotten.
it always smelled like someone died
Semantics are important.
lol, Ruru, so bad.
fermented Rye I can deal with
and grapes, don't forget grapes.
Fermented is to alcohol...rotten is to kimchi...
I knw Koreans who don't like kimchi.
*giggles*
Customer in Korean restaurant: wow. that's pungent.. is that fresh kimchi? restaurant owner: no our chef died.. we're trying to get him out
There is no frsh kimchi.
fresh
I had Korean neighbors once, who put pots of cabbage out on their deck to "ferment" in the hot sun. The smell was worse than "someone died"
That would be quite awful. No wonder you don't like it.
I hear Kimchi isn't allowed to be served at Sony Headquarters
Really? At Toshiba headquarters they have a "rotten vegetable" pot luck supper.
cultural food differences are really interesting though
Don't you wonder how folks ever came to eat certain things?
Like rotten cabbage. And fermented sardines.
making kimchi is not unlike making sauerkraut, if spicier.
yes.. some things people ate at Greek Easter grossed me out too
a lot spicier.
I so like sauerkraut.. do they use heavy garlic in kimchi DC?
Really Ru?
it depends, but often they do, ruru
Spring kimchi is less spice than Fall and Winter kimchi.
must be the combo of cabbage and garlic then for me.. really off putting
Someone died after eating garlic, yummy
strong garlic is hard to take.
I concur
there's also usually anchovy or shrimp paste, soy sauce, and chili paste, and chili powder i in kimchi. And some vinegar
even strong aioli is too much for me
probably rotten cabbage and fermented sardines was all that was available for some people during the middle ages -- how most of our unpalatable foods came into being --- haggis is another example
must be the anchovy.. I don't like that either
with garlic, I like subtle.
kind of like haggis.
don't order a fish sandwich in any of the cinque terre towns, ruru --- anchovy is what you get!
what's haggis?
anchovy also should have a light hand.
*speaking from experience, btw
Haggis is the national dish of Scotland.
It's kind of a stuffing.
fermented bagpipes?
a mixture of stale bread and sheep's organs chopped up and steamed in the lining of a sheep's stomach
Nan, you must have got a bad restaurant in Cinque Terra.
oh.. THAT sounds delish.. ewwwwwwwww
lots of onions in haggis, too
I know. it sounds bad, but it's really not.
I prefer to think of sticky toffee pudding as the national dish of scotland -- it goes so well with the national drink!
<---far from Anthony Bourdain
Nothing fermented, anyway.
And oats! Can't forget the oats...
indeed, jan!
Right! There must be oats!
well, off to a a late lunch. Catch yall later. :)
I've had haggis twice. It's really kind of starchy and boring.
A true poverty dish.
bye dc
Bye Seain
None of the crops are up Ma, and I didn't shoot a gosh durn thing hunting. Guess we have to eat the rotten cabbage.
Now that we've whetted your appetite!
I have had "gourmet" haggis in fine restaurants in Scotland.
the only day fine restaurants serve haggis is Rabbie's Day
were you on the lamb in Scotland?
If you drink enough single malt, anything tastes fine.
Gourmet haggis? Is that like haute cuisine ramen?
lol amen sister
No joke, Ru, there are sheep everywhere!
true, hego
black face sheep and highland cattle
I kind of like Scotland. It's unique.
*Refrains from making sheep jokes
i'm hoping to go there someday
And you do have to like lamb.
You will like all the malt tasting.
well if you can't bleat them join them I've always said
:)
I love lamb..it is in my genetic make-up
Scotch is barley's highest and best use...
There is a reason the Scottish men drink so much...
Or you grew up eating it.
why's that molls?
It's a lot like the okanagan valley, southern OR, Napa and France --- instead of following the wine route, you follow the whiskey trail and taste your way around the country
Molly, and that would be?
*speaking from experience again
The landscape is like no other.
I'd just plop myself at Balvinie and McCallan and call it a day
Nan is very experienced. :)
ru, why not.
oh no -- you have to go to Islay as well
I don't like the Islay scotches
too peaty
I like peaty
A little, not too much.
yeah..it's an acquired taste there too
like Bowmore 21 yr and Lagavullin 16 yr
Well Ru, what would you do if your choice was to go home to dine on haggis or spend a lonely night tending sheep?
Lagavullin is too strong for me
Wimp
<---shepard
goes great with curried scallops
:D
Oh man, what a way to ruin a good batch of scallops. Dump curry on them. : S
well.. this has been an enlightening discussion.. have to work today.. later you guys
just a mild curry sauce over queen scallops in the half shell
I'll drink to that!
Bye Ru
bye ruru
Scallops in the half shell?
I've made a Thai style curried scallop dish, with coconut milk, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass and some chili paste. Tis good...
have a nice Glen Morangie on hand hego....
On the half shell (with the roe) is how they serve them in France, I think...
also how they were served at the whiskey festival at Lagavullin distillery
Nan, I'll be right over.
(along with a glass of 16 yr scotch)
Getting time for lunch--now how can I resist a scotch on the side?!?
Don't resist.
i am back....sort of...
hi again pen
half a Penq here
hi nan...
i have been doing the NYT crossword puzzle....
fun
In the paper or online?
online....i subscribe to the online crossword puzzles....
Kind of prefer the paper version
*!* ta da *!* - thanks to lickety
congrats, nan...
you can print them off, too.....but i don't bother...
WTG! Nan!
and i have unlimited access to the archives...
That's cool Penq
Snowing here!
curling is on, so off to watch that -- back at the flip :-)
I know when Peri gets it, it will be here soon.
bye, nan....
snowing again here, too...
ag 5/14, last one, pls
to be in concord, I ag 5,
I'm sure I put that in before, ty hego
yw Bichon
Words disappear when you play, leave and then come back. You should always copy your word list.
I noticed that.
how do you copy your word list?
good question
you can copy and paste in word...
cut and paste probably
what a bother
I don't do it. If I got it once I can usually remember or get it again.
i am done... :oD
me too!
Congrats to us!!
congrats!
bye All
bye hego....stay warm...
howdy folks
hi pippin, pen
hi bichon! how is your dasy?
*day
my dasy is pretty good ). I'm in Richmopnd VA where no snow is predicted
we are getting some right now but that's fine, my head hurt too much to try to run anyway
i'm just sad that it will be so blasted cold tomorrow
We're not going back to CT til Mon. It's supposed to be even worse after that
ouch
How am I going to complain about the heat and humidity this summer after this winter
i'm sure you can find a way. i have faith in you!
At least in the summer I don't get cabin fever. I do any activity in the AM or evening
hooray, NBT/NBS!
Woot pips
well and having more daylight hours makes a huge difference. even with the early hours i work i get almost no daylight after work, so it's not as likely for me to go running or run errands
like right now when I need to go buy a chicken to make stock but it is snowy and almost dark and it makes me not want to venture outdoors
in Maine we have restaurant week the first 14 days of March....opportunity to get out and have great meals for reasonable prices...
Howdy again my friends:)
Battening down the hatches for the deep, deep freeze tonight and verifying the whiskey bottle count:)
sounds like a plan....
i have started another knitting project....
Tonight I will get to show my son how water can instantly freeze. it is a good trick, and I have not done it since we moved south before he was born. The temp with the wind chill is set to hit minus 41C or minus 41.8F so if you throw a cup of hot water into the air in a wide arc it will freeze before it hits the ground.... Knit me a nice cable knit sweater please:)
heh heh....sounds like a good trick!
it is interesting to watch if you have never done it before:)
i am just glad that it's not 40 below zero here!
Golly, Cross! I just can't get my head around how you guys live with such cold. Wooly hats off to you!
We hibernate on nights like this like polar bears:)
And hello all. :-)
I miss having a wood stove on nights like this:(
It's a balmy minus 2 here, and I am almost sitting on my turf-burning range.
hi Soodle...
It is the wind tonight that is going to do it, I can see it picking up now and we are supposed to have sustained gusts of between 60 and 70 kph throughout the night:)
Darn electricity better stay on:)
ditto...
As of tomorrow, I have no more teenagers. My youngest turns 20 tomorrow. How the heck did that happen?
the do not know your skill of immortality yet, soodles:)
Mine are mid 30's - early 40's. Almost middle aged
they*
LOL Crossy. - Everybody is getting old, except me.
Just to make you all jealous - going out for Stews morning walk before it gets up to 33c - 91f. He doesn't like the heat either. Bye all.
mmm, not sure if I like 91F any better...
Lucky you, Lynn, lucky you.
bye, lynxxx...
I'd rather be freezing that walking in 91
F
crossy melts when it gets over 80F
Nope, I love the sun, and the bright days and evenings..... bring on the Summer!
But you don't get humidty Soods
70F and sunny with a gentle breeze of the bay is perfect for me:)
Bich, we don't generally get extremes of anything, good or bad. I don't like humidity... (my hair!!!!), but I love heat.
I could live with it being 91 here if only it wasn't humid. But that doesn't happen
OOOH. I just checked my lottery ticket. €100!!! Happy days are here again...
One thing about dealing with -40 C/F is you do not give a flying f**k about yer hair! YAAA FOR SOODLES!
100 euros is pretty darn good
hope next time it is a million pounds soodles:)
or euro ro whatever
LOL, Suzie's birthday gift has just been upgraded!!!! Hooray.
They still use pounds north of you, do they not, soodles?
They do indeed, Crossy. If I travel 60 miles up the road, I have to change currency. Bonkers!
My girlie who turns 20 tomorrow is planning a road trip to Europe this Summer - trailing around Germany, Holland, Austria, Scotland and the UK, following Taylor Swift. I just won the wherewithal to pay for her flights to Cologne!
Yaaaa!
hard
oops
Like? Taylor Swift??? But I envy her her passion. It's a long time since I was passionate about anything, so, Go Suzie!
yes, follow your passions while you can as the fires that burn in the crucible of youth cool later in life
Happiness to me these days is hiking with my beloved and a good book:)
Though I still need to cross off a submarine ride for my bucket list:)
Oh dear God, Suzie is turning 20??? : O
Tomorrow, Molly. I'm gobsmacked.
So what are you going to do when she takes off for the summer? (Or is that the prim and proper stuff that chat talk is made of?)
Is that NOT the prim and proper...
LOL, Molly. I'm going to revel in my own company!!!
Sure...like that quiet New Year's Eve you had, nestled in the bosom of your family? : P
Yup. Something like that,,,, :-)
Ahem, so all the "words" in the grid today will be applicable to Chez Soodle? Woo-hoo, the hooliest hooley ever.
Son of Soodle: How's Mom?...Daughter of Soodle: I don't know, she never answers the phone...Daughter 2 Of Soodle: She answered the phone once, when I called. It sounded like a drunken hooley was going on there.
If only, Molly, if only. I'd love to live in THAT Chez Soodle!
Make it so
Sorry for the time=lapse. I'm attending to domestic chores....
The romance of it all, on the day that's in it. A chap I know did me the favour of cleaning out my septic tank on Monday. He wouldn't take any money from me, he said he would prefer a home-cooked meal... so I am busy grilling steaks now. Sheesh... Could Valentines Day be any more romantic?
Good evening all! Been searching for my last 7...may I please have a clue for the in
No IN 7 that I can see, Ace
Hmm I must be remembering wrong. I have the 2 el7s what is the other
hi7 ... it's a plural
te7 also a plural
Oh! Have the hi7. May I have a hint for the te if anyone has it?
... old communication technology
Thanks!!
Oh I need a man who will barter handy stuff like that for good cooking. The hell with romance, that's for fools who don't have practical things to deal with.
Hmm, Molly. If it could be kept to practical things, that would be fine.... Maybe I made my pepper sauce to saucy...
Saucy women do saucy things. It can't be helped.
A.Men. LOL. (I might just be getting a dodgy curtain pole fixed.....)
Hello again folks
You keep working those men for what they're worth, Soodle. : D
Good evening Babbleonia.
Hello Wht. Ready for more snow? *Ducks*
Well, it looks like we are getting it whether I am ready or not.
I suggest the most alcohol your body can withstand.
But we are as ready as we can be. Went out and did errands this afternoon. It was nice just to get out of the house. Who knows when we will be able to do *that* again;
ASsistance please with AG 6/24?
I thnk that is an ai6/24, car. And I don't have it either.
Good grief...no. I need Ai 6/24.
From what I've heard, the entire east coast will be dealing with Siberian temperatures tomorrow. It's already snowing here, but just that light, powdery stuff.
ai 6 plume for a hat
ai6 ends like the re6s you might have for not doing something you really wanted to do
We are getting the light, powdery stuff now as well, Molly. The problem is that by this time tomorrow they are expecting over a foot of that light, powdery stuff on the ground.
But it's not a plural, sorry
ty, got it
<---Does not use the tired old phrase "bucket list"
Well, it is time for dinner. I will have to finish this grid later.
Bye Wht. Nice to see you here.
Fireworks
ANyone need a clue before I jump into the snow to get away from my mother?

Nothing to do but drink, eh, pen?
yup....eating a mineola and sipping wine...
the wine is quite good....cheap argentinian wine...
I am drinking my usual three buck chuck.
We had an early supper and will have a nice cup of coffee in a few minutes. This was a busy day.

good thing i bought a 13 qt stock pot last year. it's really helping me make a ton of great chicken stock this weekend!
how is everyone?
not too many people here...
clearly not
perhaps it is valentine celebration time
Date night ..
how are you pen and torg?
I'm well ..
glad to hear it!
Quite warm here today. It's still about 75 ..
it's 21 here....still snowing...
nice! today was nice here, about 30, which is way better than the 3F-16F we will have tomorrow
i am hunkered down through tomorrow at least....
warmer here now than it was earlier today...
i feel like that calls for a "hunker hunker burning love" joke
nobody? okay, i'll take my bad puns elsewhere...
Burn whatever you can to keep warm ..
<groan>
i opened a nice bottle of wine....cheap but nice...
i drank my 2nd favorite cider whilst browning my bones. first time i've had booze in the house since september
what is your favorite?
blackthorn, an extra dry english cider
nice....second favorite?
and i've had a couple stellar fancy ones in bars that i've loved, but they're not widely available enough to repeat, so
the most frequent one i get is the angry orchard traditional dry. widely availasble and not too sweet
thats what i had tonight
yes, i know Angry Orchard....not my favorite, though....i like Downeast but I doubt it's available out of state....
most angry orchard i dislike, only this one flavor - they have at least 3-4 cider varieties
I like Johnny Appleseed, too...
most ciders i find far too sweet, i would really just drink lambics if they were popular enough to be widespread
i also don't like ciders that are too sweet...
oof. just ate too much salty popcorn. not helping me get hydrated so i can run tomorrow!
