good morning all
Hi sprite and hugs from us :)
hi Liz! *hugs* for you both. And thanks for your email. Beautiful stuff!
Very glad you approved
How are you this morning?
sure do.
I am ok, just sore allover. Getting old, I think, lol. Every morning nowadays my joints all hurt, especially the little ones. Hands, feet.
You're not old! Tell those joints to behave!
How was the gym?
I was amazed at how well my back coped this morning. It's been pretty achy recently.
lol will do! Gym is going well. I adjusted the program slightly and came home tired, but hurting and today I don't have any bad muscle aches. Just a pleasant sense of having worked them.
oh wow Liz, that is good! After such a busy day, it is more than good, it is awesome.
That's good.
not* hurting, lol
Yup, I was happy with that. I know I've not exercised that hard in the gym over the last few months so that should start to improve. Think I hurt my back walking on a very sloped beach!
yeah, sand and slopes don't go together well. Very hard word for our poor bodies.
it was a weird day - very sloped beach and soft sand.
kind of a war zone for your back, that is certain
It certainly threw my back out. It's taken a couple of months to get more or less back to normal.
I'm really impatient with myself when I hurt!
a very good sign then that all your activities yesterday didn't give you a back ache.
Still today here for a few more hours. Time zones are so confusing!
oh I hear ya! Worst thing to learn for me has been to be patient with myself, and kind to myself, and not beating myself up for being handicapped. I had to learn, mind you, lol, since it won't go away. Not sure I could have learned with 'only' temporal aches.
How can de 4 the antlered animal,,be plural?
time zones mess with your head, grin. We know, here in babble land.
I think it is one of those language errors that slowly become accepted
Grrrr!
ikr! We have several of those in dutch and they bug me no end. Make me wanna bring out my red pencil.
Me too
Time to go! Very happy to have caught you. Have a good day. Hugs
you too, Liz, and your husband as well. *hugs* for you both.
phantom: pharao
Does it not have an H on the end?
pharaoh? Hm yeah, looks good to me. Hi zooz, dear man :) How are you today?
Hello, Sprite.I am ok.And how are you?
am fine, thanks! You good or just ok?
Not sure yet..lol...just got up about 30 mins ago :-)
hahahaha tea first then, methinks? And a bit of babble...
I did go for a blood test at the hospital yesterday and the nurse put the needle in my arm.And it sent a tingly shock wave down my arm and into one of my fingers.I told her at the time and she was sorry. But it still tingles and feels slightly numb in the finger still.Hoping it will disappear soon.
have my tea here now..Sluuuuurp.Ahhh!
sounds like she hit a nerve :( Very unpleasant.
Yes she did.I was not impressed to be honest. But I am rather thin so I can see it must of been hard for her.
everybody makes mistakes... just sucks that it happened to be you she made her mistake on :(
and back...{{hugs}} sprite, g'dayzooz
hello rose! *hugs* Had not expected you back yet, lucky me!
Hello, Rose.did you have a nice time?
ugh, i got it wrong...she is apparently coming tomorrow. but have had dinner, so i can just sit here a whiles.
ah ok :) Don't worry, it is rather normal for elderly ladies to get dates mixed up *hides behind zooz*
ummmm, sprite?? i can seeee you.
Ha no good hiding behind a stick insect, Sprite :-)
*blinks innocently* Hm? Oh right. You can see me. But zooz is defending me.
* directs stern look at zooz* yes mister???
I don't mind being stuck between two lovely ladies :-)
hehehe we will make it into a group hug. Down, rose. No hitting in group hugs.
* licks finger and sticks it in sprites ear* wet willy, wet willy....lol
Eeewww
roflollllll you disgusting woman!
*giggle*
oh man, even with oceans between us that gives me shivers.
see?? you bring out the best in me....
ikr :)
oh, sorry, sprite, forgot to cut fingernails...hope i didn't scratch you.
*tries to fix ear drum with duct tape* No darling, no problem, all good here...
yuck, what's this under my nail? sprite, when was the last time you cleaned out your ears?
Oh good grief!
I never have to do that. I just wait for my friend rose with her too long fingernails to do it for me.
or maybe it's a piece of your brain...you don't need it, do you?
poor zooz, lol, stuck in the cross fire!
no sweetie, I have brains to spare. You can keep it.
* belly laughing *
*grin* goal for today achieved... made rose laugh.
zooz?? you okay, mate? or did you choke on that cuppa?
I am fine thank you :-) found about 15 words during your little cat fight exchange..lol
and i made you laugh, dearest
hehehe we are SO inspiring
you sure did, rose.
zooz, everything we say to each other is in jest. you should see our emails....
I like the way you can have 'payday'(yesterday) but you can not have stepon.
Oh I know that, Rose..lol
ikr! No logic at all in enable.
And for one brief moment I thought I saw the word stethoscope in the grid. But alas not :-(
oooo but a wonderful phantom. You win the phantom prize today, zooz
Cool!..which is?
a cup of snow.....lolol
that cool enough???
the phantom prize is.... a phantom vacation to the bahamas.
that IS cool
Good job I am asking, Sprite then Rose?
YaY much better prize!
I can drive my kids crazy with that, actually. "I'll make you a cup of soup." "Oh cool." "Um well I was planning on heating it, but if you prefer it cool?" "Moohommmm!"
Rose is a meanie :-(
*blinks innocently* and what's wrong with MY prize??
somehow i don't think a cup of warm snow is cool.
It is already freezing here thanks.I will let you have my prize as it is very hot where you are :-)
Do they know how to use the microwave, Sprite..lol
so generous as always, zooz. gee thanx.
Rose how long does it take for a nerve ending to heal back to normal?
lol yeah they do, zooz. I think kids nowadays are born with the microwave manual imprinted in their brains.
Teehee i think you are right, Sprite.
how long is a piece of string? you poor man, i saw your post. that nurse was way out of line. nerve healing does take some time...2-3 weeks if it is going to heal on it's own.
Now a hoover on the other hand..is like a little alien to them.
mind you, after i had my carpal tunnel surgery, i noticed the difference within 10 days.
I am sure she did not mean to do it. But non the less I was shocked.
a hoover is a vacuum cleaner, right? Yeah, they cannot find the power button on their own. But that highly complicated smart phone? They can manage that without even trying hard.
10 days!! that is a long time.
Oh sorry, Sprite ..yes a vacuum cleaner.
no need to apologise, just had to make sure I remembered right
rightly? Ummmm
hahaha yeah it is ironic that simple machines they have no idea how to operate.yet give them a computer and they are an expert on them!
Hoover is a make here in the Uk that at one time in the dark ages..nearly every house hold had one so the vacuum cleaner was just named hoover as in I ma going to hoover the stairs..instead of I am going to vacuum the stairs...so even now i am used to saying a hoover.
Long winded but you get the picture.
oh, and sprite....there is a sequel to " the best exoctic marigold hotel " it's coming out here soon. i saw the trailer last week...you think the first was funny...
thanks zooz :)
ohhhh rose, awesome! I loved the movie. Am gonna watch it with cobi next time she comes here.
which is saturday, so pretty soon :D
yeah, i have watched it 3 times already.
yeah and it is not just funny. It is also touching. Very satisfying movie to watch.
every time i see it i find something more.
I bet I will too.
rose, not asking for clues, just a yes or no... are the jo words weird?
not really, honey. all known words
ok thanks :)
hah, found them. Stupid names.
yeah, ikr?
I don't mind so much the names that are valid... but all those names I try that are not valid!
*giggle* like jose?
yeah. Or recently, anita. I mean, daphne goes, but anita doesn't?
well daphne is a flowering plant, or a form of water nymph development.
yeah and an anita is a rather trashy kind of woman. In dutch, anyway.
ahhhh
the female version of a harry, lol.
calling pocahontas a phantom is pushing it, isn't it?
sorry sweetie, yes it is. try again
darn it. Ok, how about phantom? Phantom is a phantom today, right? Hm? Yes?
nooooo, lolol
awwww :(
*points at quivering bottom lip*
*kisses quivering bottom lip*
aw :D That is sweet.
time to see parents.Nice to see you both.Toodle pips for now :-)
enjoy your day, zooz. xoxox
bye zooz, have a grand day *hugs*
lollll I just realised I forgot to email you back yesterday! I actually booted the computer to do so, and then got sidetracked and went to bed. Will make it up to you.
sprite did a bit of walking today, and guess what? theory proved...walking makes the nerve flair up. it has been stinging like a female dog.
aw rose, that sucks. You go call that ortho tomorrow, no excuses.
awww, hin. not a problem, sweetie. all in your own good time, and if you want to do so. xoxox
I wanted to do so, that is the joke. I just opened email, noticed I could send some more postcrossing cards and proceeded to do so.
the nerve is the pain specialist expertise. nearly there, sprite
oh, ok sorry. Yeah, finally. That was a flippin' long wait.
fireflies. Easy grid today.
WTG SPRITE!!!!
thank you, darling :)
ok, time for me to do some laundry and stuff. Blech. But duty calls. *hugs* to you, and I hope you will sleep well again. Take care, ok?
we watched a quite old film the other day. silverado...have you seen it? so many of our tv/movie stars in roles...it was incredible. like a very young hetty from ncis.
oh yes, silverado! Nice one.
{{hugs}} darling.hope your day is kind to you. xoxoxox
she is so cool. I like her even better now that she is older.
good morning is it such and easy grid that no one has asked for any clues?
Good morning.
Good morning, everyone:)
Hi crossy
Back to mild temps I see. Tis ONLY minus 18c/ 0F atm:)
For a couple of days :) Our temperature went from -33 to -15 in about 4 hours yesterday.
I was a lot warmer in my apartment without the wind.
Yes, the wind was making it much worse
On sunday, I wore sweat pants, a t-shirt, a sweater, a fleece jacket, and was covered with a throw and I was still freezing. Yesterday I got by with a t-shirt and sweater over my sweat pants :)
Speaking of older movies, Rose, the mrs and I watched a delightful old movie called Sabrina the other day starring Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn. Was a nice change.
I really like that movie, but then again I like most of Bogart's films.
Yes, Yesterday i was puttering round outside with a sweater and my fleece only.
I tried to watch as many Bogart movies as I could when I was in my 20s :)
Audrey overshadowed him in this particular case. She was definitely the star of that film.
True.
The original is much better than the remake, which is usually the case.
My favs ,however are old movies with Katherine Hepburn in them. She plays the strong woman and I used to love watching her putting all those leading men in their place like in African Queen.
Yes, she is my favorite actress :) My role model :)
The way her voice used to modulate was annoying at first, but you got used to her.
So, are you making pancakes for Shrove Tuesday?
My crew are not big pancake fans, but I shall make some nice buttermilk ones for myself perhaps
On Canada AM this morning they are going to be making pulled pork pancakes. I actually have some pulled pork on hand :)
But I'm not so good at making pancakes from scratch.
Pancakes! Pure maple syrup! Thanks, Crossy!
Hi scrab
lol@ toad-in-the -hole pancakes!
Hello kids. It warmed up to minus 5F here. How cold are you in the Great North?
It's only -18C here today, about 15 degrees warmer than it was yesterday morning.
OK I am going to break the pattern and ask for a clue. I am struggling with the two jo6's. Could I get a clue for them, please?
Indeed, Scrabby. Beautiful golden brown buttermilk pancakes--I make mine about the size of a teacup saucer and cook them in creamery butter till the edges are golden brown and slightly crunchy them I drizzle Canada grade A light maple syrup over them.
warmed up to 0F here, scrabby
That sounds great crossy.

Now run out and jump in the snow.
I still need the first jo4/9
I only drink tea these days so, about 1/2 the caffeine of coffee, and it does not burn my tummy.
I think I do too scrab:)
When we had the cottage we used to have an outdoor sauna and we would get it nice and hot, get all sweaty, and run out and ro9ll in the snow.
Hah!
The swedes say it is good for you:)
The first JO 4/9 is a man's name plural
jo4/9 = plural for guys name Jo*
I need the jo 4/10
Not for very long, Crossy.
Another man's name. Common name. Gospel of St Jo**.

ty phae
es...small bed
nbt and nbs
King Cake is similar to coffee cake and made for Mardi Gras. A little plastic baby is baked inside. If you get the baby, it means good luck. (Or that you have to make the cake next year)
just learned something, thanks
iced in Mardi Gras colors of gold, green, and purple! :-)
Hi Une
I make mine with a cream cheese glaze and then add the gold, green and purple sprinkles.
greetings, annie . . . from TN where we're in a state of emergency -- scary ice and bitter temps
sounds delish, molly :-)
Une, Oh dear, stay safe
tx annie :-)
phaeton... plural one on the 5s
temps not rising above freezing before Saturday :-(
BRB - need more caffeine!
The South grinds to a complete halt when they get weather like that. They are just not used to dealing with it, nor do they have the resources to treat the roads properly.
Molly, if it were snow it would be different but this is ice ice, baby -- and with recordbreaking low temps it's a nightmare -- very hard to "treat" roads that are covered in a couple of inches of rock-hard ice
they've brined and salted and scraped like crazy but . . .
so far so good re power, thank goodness!!
BBL
Losing power is the first thing I get concerned about in an ice storm. And they are usually long outages because when ice brings down power lines, it brings them down hard.
A theater in Colorado recently showed R rated movie previews, including 50 shades of gray, before the spongebob movie.
file under "you are so fired".
we are having heat wave...-15 ,no wind..brrr
Good morning, all!
good morning all
Good morning everyone

halfway, NBT and NBS - time for breakfast break
Enjoy!
AR
Sorry, again, keep getting carried away typing
Gail channels her inner pirate!
AAARRRRGGH
That's better!
How are y'all in the snow belt" Virginia, MD, Philly, DE, NJ?
Frozen fingers!
We got about 3 inches. Meh.
We're getting less than an inch. We flew out of Richmond so fast yesterday morning
Umpteen below zero here today.
Family in Richmond got 8" and they saay they are snowed in
Gail, you're in the really winter state
Wow. That's further south than us in Delaware. Guess we dodged the worst of it.
They don't even plow the secondary roads there, that's how bad it is
That is becoming a more common trend, Bichon. Fortunately, our neighborhood has an organization and we all chip in for private plowing in times of winter armageddon.
My b.i.l. bought his s.i.l. a snow blower and it's never been out of its box
Here in CT, the city sands and salts all the roads before a storm to minimize skidding
In Vermont the road crews watch TV untill the storm is over, then they go out an sort of plow the roads.
Not really Gail )
Really. I have a friend who used to work for the city.
Hi ladies.
Hi Scrabs, did you miss this storm?
Salt only works over a certain tempurature. Otherwise, it just lays on top the the ice. Sand is even less effective in cold.
We got snow Fri and Sat--a foot or so, and we have had bone-chilling temps. Minus 15 Sun, minus 10 yest, minus 9 this morning.
Out here in the country our roads are typically well-plowed. And we do not get salted in the winter, just sanded.
The sand and salt on the roads really hurst my little fluff's paws
*hurts
The sand/dirt has to be raked from the grass and drievway in the spring--huge amounts.
Poor babies, Bichon. Have you tried boots for them?
They just chew them off
I call a proper noun foul on the jo6/39.
It must mean something else. Like a cup of jo*.
A long button down coat for women (obscure, of course).
Interesting.
Clue for Se6, please?
pretty sketchy if you as me
*ask
Got it. Fireworks!
I have lost interest in this grid. See you tomorrow.
Hello snowbirds
Judi, share pls
That's Babble. Sketchy is a daily feature.
Se6/18. Se + anagram of piggies.
piggies as in foot appendages?
Or, Se + anagram of what's attached to your foot bone.
Now that I've confused everyone, I will dash off to do the dreaded annual report. Tomorrow, peeps! *POOF*
was looking for pigs lol.
hi all. clue for the 8 please.
EN 6, 7, 8 combo - to put words into mumbo jumbo
ty got them all. super clue.
yvw - borrowed from earlier clue
hi everyone.. insomnia last night, so I'm down to 10 words
hi aloy
chocolate for dessert can do that to me, sigh.. love chocolate.. hi wvt, are you also frozen?
yes, but not as cold as it has been - got more snow last night also - everything is closed today - not gone out since Saturday
glad your internet is working
no problems with INternet or power
FW
congrats, mixi!!
was just noticing that of the 6 j's, three of them contain "proper" names
we got maybe a 1/2 inch of something white, but it crinkled when falling.
crinkled? ..
maybe it was sleet.
I don't know how to describe the noise.
oh, I know what you are saying now.. yuck
Crackle?
stay safe and warm Babble buddies.. fw send me off to choreland, ciao for now
hagd aloy
much softer than crackle. I think crinkle is better, just looked it up.
good morning, everyone
stuck on the jo 6's and the 4/10---should be able to find that darned 4---grrrr
oh -- found it - another proper noun
jo 6, please?
oh - found the biblical one
first jo 6, please?
funny nan.
we got about 4-5 inches of snow. I shoveled the side walk in front of the house, the path in front of the front door. path in front of my car and a path in front of my sister's garage. also part of the driveway. thank goodness the snow was soft and it was not too difficult to do.
going to step outside and see what the white stuff is.
I see the neighbor's son is out shoveling in front of their garage and the driveway
my sympathies, peri - it is time winter was over
it is my sister's birthday today, need to get her a cake
does anyone have a clue for the first jo 6, please?
I don't have any jo6
jo + last 4 of blue veins in the leg
ty, molly - but not a medical person so have no idea
I don't leave footprints in the white stuff.
Older women get these veins, they are unslghtly
vari**** veins
Well, I was trying to avoid that, but yeah
ty molly and grant
ty molly and grant
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help
yw
need clue for the second jo 6 please
you flew over the snow, mixi?
think biblical name - mary's husband
I've heard of walking on water, but walking on snow?
thnx nan - wouldn't have done that - proper name
help with A pls
there are a few in the jo's teach
yes there are - should have guessed
ac 5: bless you -- do you have a cold?
ty nan
I am so grateful that I do not live in Boston and have to shovel every day.
ac 4: teen skin problem
I am so glad we no longer live in quebec, ontario or alberta
If I lived in Boston, or that area, I would have a snow blower
snow blowers don't work if it is the heavy wet stuff
I think I have almost a 1/2 inch of sleet.
we have a snow blower but no one has bothered to get it out of the garage and I wanted to get it done
I did not want to wait cause it will turn to ice when the sun goes down and make it harder to drive on and even harder to shovel
I know my sister appreciates me doing it
must be really wet, peri -- snowblower probably wouldn't have been much use anyway
help with eiother of the PO 7s
po 7: mail some irish hooch?
the snow here is light, not heavy and wet, thank goodness
po 7: female versifier
got the femal one - need to think about the other more - thnx
then why the worry of it turning to ice if it isn't melting underneath?
when the sun goes down and the temp goes down. the snow will turn to ice
got them both - thnx
beens with 'to mail' ends like irish moonshine
at least on top and make it harder to shovel
bbl
bye - understand now
on my way as well - hagd everyone
ty for thr po7
Mail someone Irish hooch, very clever clue

hello all
good evening TO
Good evening!
hello...
i am done... :oD
** finito **
YAY teach!
congrats!
Exactly what are the 2 o's in the northwest, exactly?
And hello stid!
Hello from the sunny and beautiful Northwest.
hey stidgmere -- greetings to you from the very frozen South! And no thawing till Saturday -- in fact tomorrow nite's low will be -4 degrees!!
how is everyone?
oh PLEASE - greetings from Massachusetts, where my town has enjoyed over 91 inches of snow in the last 21 days.
We have experienced a Southern deep freeze. Makes Dairy Queen look warm!
Trifioso, my brother in Webster has snow half way up his windows. We certainly are keeping you in our warm thoughts!
trif, i know -- have watched videos of what you're dealing with--- mindboggling!!!
I do too. The best part? I have to keep resnowblowing the front walk, which is now the only place my dog has to poop. As a charming result, frozen chunks of dog poop are now up against my kitchen window. RIGHT in front of where we eat.
it's been pretty extreme in Maine where my daughter lives as well!
secondo got an email from her school, saying it was going to be between -20 and -40 this week, so "cover up on the way to class"
she is in vermont.
it's been particularly rough on my 2 senior dogs -- trying to walk, squat, pee, etc.!
i feel so sorry for the woodland creatures around me....
have been keeping my birdfeeders FULL -- the cardinals especially have been pounding down the safflower seed! :-)
My brother has a snowblower and he has cleared a path for the dog to use. He is going to extend the path as the winter continues.
when it's this cold i worry about them finding water to drink
I had been trying to do that, but with the snow over four feet most places, that is no longer an option
I read that Washington, DC had closed government offices today. Are you finding businesses and offices closing in your area? Are the schools open so the kids have hot meals?
the subway is basically crippled, there is NO WHERE to park in the city, they have had to start dumping snow in the ocean, and its basically all hellish all the time. I have never seen the like of it.
all schools closed, many businesses closed
the kids are on vacation this week, so the schools are closed
its snowing right now.
the pictures of your snow mountains with nowhere to go are just incredible
Man, we are just not used to Siberian winters. We have mountains with no snow. Very bad portend for summer drought.
couldn't believe the pics this afternoon on tv of Niagara Falls . . . wow
Hi, Trif - Did you see that last week a 46-foot yacht got stuck in a snowbank in downtown Boston? (I'm from Brookline.)
just saw this: The mayor of Boston is urging cabin fever-crazed residents to stop hurling themselves from their windows into snowbanks. (apparently they're filming themselves and posting the videos online) LOL
back in a bit . . .
hi all
Hi TO quiet chog. Lots of folks pretty cold tonight. Not here, though. We are having spring-like weather and my snowdrops and little purple flowers are out already. The camellia next door (spelling) is nearly done with its blooms.
it's going to be tolerable tomorrow, then 2 days of arctic air.
All for now. . Time to fix dinner. Have a good evening, TO
you as well.
"Well I thought I'd go down to Tulsa, and ride in the ro5, Red beans and rice sure would be nice, Back where the Mississippi River flows."
