yeah well, you can get used to everything as long as it is constant. Things that fluctuate are much harder.
True, it has been fluctuating a lot lately and the doctor has changed my dosage a few times. I guess that is partly to do with age.

i don't know sprite. don doesn't get it usually, but he is learning. when i ask what pain meds he has taken for his migraine, he feeds back to me...what did you tell me to take? so he know understands that when you are in pain, logical thought processes fly out of the window. so he is a lot more understanding when i am in tears because it's so sore.
that is a good thing coming out of a bad thing, at least. I guess I can live with Rob not understanding, if it means he doesn't have to battle chronic pain.
you know sprite, if you finished cooking the meal then left them to eat on their own, by retreating to the lounge, bedroom wherever, it might make him realise just how hard it is for you to function when your body is on fire.
right. And I do all I can to prevent that, because I don't want them to feel bad about me cooking dinner.
you could always eat a little later, telling him the pain had settled enough for you to be able to eat.
stuff it, sprite. if he can't see how hard you are struggling he needs a darn good shake. i'm surprised after the way he came home so quickly when you were having the panic attacks.
some fridays I am fine, cooking dinner and feeling pretty good afterwards. And some, it is a mess from the get-go.
and why shouldn't the kids help prepare the meals. it would be good life experience for them.
My love is usually very good about things, always willing to help and wanting to be understanding. But he is human, lol. Sometimes he is a total jerk.

the kids don't have much time, rose. With school and work, there isn't much left. And Rob and I want them to spend that little bit on their friends and hobbies. THey do cook meals in vacations.

ikr! And the worst thing is, my friend Cobi who was gonna stay for a couple of days, is ill and cannot come. Such a bummer for us both. She says the same thing as you do. Makes her spitting mad when my kids or husband can't be bothered to make me a cup of coffee, or lunch, when I am in pain.

but I understand very well how people can become fed up with the constant care a chronically ill person needs. My kids and husband are caretakers, and that takes its toll. I understand how they need to be jerks every now and then.

I am on the fence about that too...I think there is a definite human factor, but the Earth clearly has gone through major climate changes on its own.

Global warming is real, as is ocean acidification from the excess carbon dioxide. But you have to look at the whole globe, and remember that weather is not climate - the long-term changes are, so far, fairly subtle. But they won't stay that way. And ruru is right about the polar regions; they are warming much faster.
I don't think the pollution we create is the entire cause - I think scientists are correct when they say it is part of the earth's cycle that has been going on for millenium -- but I think both are contributing factors and that global warning does exist
source: I used to teach about this, and researched it quite extensively. The physics of it is actually fairly straightforward; it's figuring out how the climate (a very complex system) will be affected that gets complicated.

It is certainly true that the global climate goes through cycles anyway, but that doesn't mean that what we do (particularly taking hundreds of millions of years of carbon storage out of the ground and putting it into the atmosphere over a few decades) doesn't matter.

I used to point out to my classes that asteroids have occasionally struck the earth, and caused great destruction; that doesn't mean that it would be OK for us to drop atomic bombs all over the place, even if the destruction would be less than a (natural) asteroid.
Boy, that's the tough part, nan; I know what needs to happen, but I don't see any way of actually accomplishing it. I have resigned myself to the idea that we are going to have to live with the consequences of our actions. I do not envy the younger generations.

I am just so annoyed with our PM for dragging his feet on cleaning up the environment in Canada. So what if we don't contribute more than an eyedropper full of pollution compared to the likes of China --- it is the responsibility of every single country to clean up their act no matter how large or small.

I've often thought that to inimise human effect on the environment, we need to revert to the way of life practiced in the earlier part of the 19th century: no industry (so no factories spewing noxious fumes into the air), no automated transportion. If we could figure out how to marry that with modern plumbing, refrigeration, and communication, we'd be all set. ;-)

I've heard of that, crossy, but I don't recall reports of how many birds are affected. As you say, there's no consequence-free energy.. Theermal energy is very appealing, nan, but, and this may sound very silly and naive, I can't help but wonder if it's not akin to something like a slow leak in a tire - eventually the contents fizzle out completely, and we're left with a collapsed outer shell.

An e-reader is reading book text on a small electronic device. Like Kindle.
except that kindle doesn't support .epub files so you can't download from your library. You are better off with a sony or a kobo
i would have one if i could afford it molly.. i want one that lights up so i can read in bed though

harder on the eyes, sam -- you are better off getting one with no backlighting - most of the cases for them have a place to insert a book light.
I do not think Barnes and Noble make their Nokk readers anymore, but if you can find one they are very good as well

kobo had their basic reader (no backlight) on sale at their website for $70 not long ago
i do molly and the new technology baffles me and sometimes irritates me, but number 2 daughter has a kindle and it looks like something i could deal with............course i couldn't throw it at walter when he irritates me.......................
And getting one that supports E-pub files is a must as all libraries loand books in that format and pdf i believe

Aw, Happy Birthday to Walter. SMom, I have a Kindle and rarely if ever use it. I like to turn a real page, and use a real bookmark and feel a book in my hands.
I would never buy a kindle -- only place you can get books is if you buy them from kindle

I am a big supporter of E-readers simply because you can adjust the font. My wife had been unable to read a book for nearly a decade before these readers hit the market.
And yes, I know of large print books but the title selection is very, very limited

I have no problems getting new titles. there are many sources.
As I was trying to type - there aren't many copies of newly published books availabe. However, the list is extensive if the book has been out a while.

and My digital library copies have a fast turn around as to availability
you can't borrow them for 3 weeks?
I have to check. Think I can loan them for two weeks from my library
(not that I need any of them for more than one unless it is a series)

I have yet to use up my internal memory in my reader, cybernan and they are 3 and 4 years old respectively. My Nook HD has over 700 books on it now:)
i got it because I needed the touch screen. My first gen nook had page turn buttons instead and as of now they are mostly worn right out:(
The ereaders also saved us from having to take out all the living room furniture and add more bookcases:)

yes, just got a travel guide for Spain....and downloaded Travel Advisor apps for Madrid and Barcelona.....those are nice because you don't need an internet connection to access all the maps and info on sights and restaurants....
I also downloaded Wiki Offine. it is 3.6 gig, but well worth the space as a quick reference app

I spent the most glorious afternoon with my Dad today. An old buddy of his - also aged 87 - came to visit him in the Nursing Home today, armed with a bottle of Jameson whiskey. The 2 boyos wandered down memory lane, fuelled with the whiskey. It all ended up in a sing-song, with several of the other residents contributing. It truly was a special day.

Tomorrow would have been my Dad's 102nd birthday. He died 34 years ago and I still miss him daily.
My father died at 82 and not a day goes by that I don't think of him
I always give thanks that I still have both parents. But an afternoon like today really brings it home just how lucky I am. Your Dad died young, Diane. And, Bich,I understand how you still feel the loss.
He was 67
I have quite a bit of his music on my computer and when I play it, I just smile and he's right with me. ( I can even hear him humming in the background as he plays the piano )

I can't imagine being without my parents, now 84 and 82 but I can imagine all the things that will change. I will not look at my music in the same way either as my mom is the musician in the family and it's because of her that I have the musical gifts that I share with others. My dad has always be one to stay in the background, never a hugger and never one to say I love You but I have always known he did both in his own way. My mom suffered a brain injury a couple of years ago and things are so different with both of them; in a sense I'm already losing them slowly and it's a little easier but I still dont want want to imagine them not on the other end of the phone when I call. Hugs to you Diane!
Just love every moment with them mcurl...ups and downs. My mom died 8 years ago at age 85, and she was just 18 years older than I am.
I have a feeling I'll have a few more years as my grandmother lived until 1 month before her 100th birthday and my great grandmother was 94. My father has already lived past his expectations as his father passed away at 64. They are all a blessing all the time :-)
You will still cherish your music I know.... it will be a comfort and I know that first hand !!
You are right. her favorite songs to play on the piano will be the hardest; I still cry every time I play my grandfather's favorite How Great Thou Art which makes it even more special.
I have one dear old lady at the nursing home who asks for that every time I play the piano there, and of course, I play it!

We used to get the magazine Arizona Highways and loved the views.
It can be quite beautiful once one gets over the fact that one NEEDS green to be so. Their mountains are small, but pretty. Some of the cacti are budding out and with the rain there has been this year, I'm sure they will be awesome!
