Good morning, everyone:)
Morning all, happy Sunday.
howdy, sukee
How are you crossy?
Not too bad at all, and you?
Awake :) Having my first coffee and enjoying the balmy weather.
Listening to the snow blow plowing the driveway.
yes, tis a balmy minus 7 and the windows are unfrozen and I have the one in the livingroom open:)
Nice to have aior circulation in this place again
air
Spring is getting closer...
yuppers:)
So, the apartment door lock is changed, they also put in a larger peep hole.
very nice. You live in an area that requires extra security??
Not really.
Here, except for tourist season, you can pretty well not even bother with the door locks
I think a lot of it might be to be able to raise the rent more this year.
This is a 20 floor apartment building, you never really know who is getting into the building and who actually live here. There have been break ins in the past.
I feel safe though, I go down at 4:30 AM and do laundry. Of course, we also have an overnight security guard.
Have to love it, I mistyped one word and found another.
Ours is just a 4 story building
Of the two buildings I want to live in, after 60, one is a two story building and one is a 4 story building. In a quieter area too.
I have to wait until I turn 59 to apply. That will be this November.
Cool
Geared to income too.
I was disappointed this year. For years I have listed to those grey Power commercials, and how you can save a ton of money once you turn 50 on your car insurance, but when I actually able to apply this year I found out it would cost me a 1/3 more than I am paying now:(
listened
That is too bad.
Thank god our health care no longer runs through insurance companies:) or the old o.h.i.p system
Yes, thankfully.
Much better to pay at tax time. I still remember sweating bullets trying to come up with ohip premiums every month. We learned as a country that health care for all is not optional or a frill, and should be available to every last Canadian:)
Cause if we die, who will pay those taxes eh? lol
I'm glad I don't remember that.
Our politicians need those taxes for their golden parachute retirement buy-outs:)
I lived in BC for a year and event though I was on unemployment I had to pay health care monthly.
I remember it clearly. it was hell.
If you could not afford O.H.I.P you had to go through this long arduous process to have it subsidized based on income.
I guess that is what they have in the US now.
Yes, they have something akin to our old ohip, which is better than what they had at least.
I guess my parent's were covered through their work, I don't remember them mentioning it.
Think Obama wanted to ease them into it; bring them half-way, so to speak
And the opposition are still trying to get rid of it, even though it was originally their plan.
He couldn't get the votes to do it any other way
I doubt they can get rid of it.
You are most likely right, joseph
Yep it's all politics.
It's still a mess because the Medicaid (poor people help) is run by the states, so the expansion of that, even though the federal gov't was going to pay for most of it, some states have refused, so things haven't improved for the poor in those places.
yes, they must implement some for the country as a whole, and not let different states wade through it
because is one state worth any less than another as far as health coverage for its residents is concerned? I think not.
But they can't. Right now they are working on making sure that if you have a concealed gun permit from one state it is valid in every other state, even if your state has virtually no restrictions and the other state has lots.
I think a lot of them refusing either just want Obama to look bad or they are in the pockets of those who will lose when everyone has healthcare.
I love how it is the United States, yet the states can do what they want most of the time.
Too concerned about the second amendment and packing iron. priorities, people... priorities...
So you see, they are far too busy with important things to improve health care for the poor.
lol, joseph
Yes, Benghazi!
Not crazy about our federal government, but I'm glad I live here :)
My brother moved to las vegas a few years ago and he says getting an arsenal of weapons and a permit to carry concealed is about as hard as super sizing your fries lol
Think he has about 5 hand guns now and is embracing the culture:)
Of course not everyone and not all areas are like that.
And yet another kid got shot accidentally by a parent yesterday, her gun fell out of her holster and shot the kid in the leg.
wild west.
Check your guns at the door
Hey, minor things like kids getting shot are just the price you pay for Freedom.
And.... it was in the parking lot of a church.
Hell. i remember here when i was a member of a gun clup. I had one rifle and two shotguns. i had to do complex paperwork just to transport 10 miles. I had to have special container for my trunk, sign in at police station, and give a timeline on travel.
these S words are too damn hard
There certainly are a lot of them.
Bible and bullet:)
Praise Jesus and pass the ammunition;)
I used to love target shooting but they clamped down so hard on regs here that I just sold them all several years ago.
see? Losing your freedom.
lol, I am still free. i just swing a baseball bat for home protection
Not that I need it here
Guns do not = freedom
besides i could get a bad guy with my compound bow long before he saw or heard me
:)
The cat is sprawled out over the radiator this morning.
lol. Our cats are all lined up by the open window.
Our amo cat is feeling a bit better. he has been unwell and till today has not eaten or drank in three days(other than what water we forced into him with eyedropper)
Went into massive debt with the vet last 4 days
I hear you, I'm still buying steroids every 6 weeks for this one.
16 dollars for one kitty anti-nausea pill.. bet it is just low-dose gravol
Do they know what is wrong?
Yes, I pay $60 for prednisone which is so cheap.
No, they do not. they too x-rays and all is clear as far as they can tell. temp is normal, eyes glld. palpitated him and all they found was a lot of air in his stomach
eyes good*
just slightly dehydrated
So, gas? Do they have kitty tums? :)
fave him anti-biotic/ anti-inflammatory shot as well
gave*
x-ray was $106.00!
I believe it, an ultrasound cost me $450.
ouch
standard look-see is 65 dollars and a re-exam is 45
plus tax
And it didn't even show that much, just a misshapen bit of intestine that could be a tumor or nothing.
same here, all looked clear but indifinative
I did not want them to do a biopsy, too expensive and he is too old.
not much better than flipping a coin and guessing as far as I could tell
That is about it. But, at least with the steroids he is not throwing up so much. A hair ball once in a while.
Good call. If he is old just an invasive biopsy can be the tipping point
tried to get a pet health care card from this pet-card company but did not meet their criteria. i said 'well, If I have all the money to meet your minimum, then i would not need you, would I?"
You just can't win.
These vets should set up their own in-house insurance. they could make a killing. I am sure 450/month premium would be ok for most so they would get 700/ per year per pet. i am sure it would balance out whith a well established practice that has its equipment already paid for
$50*
Too logical :)
I mean our first pet visted the vet once in 16 years. they would have made a killing
i mean a visit for something other than shots etc
And set up a co-pay of lets say 40 dollars so they do not bring the pet in for every sniffle
Does make sense.
Anyway, I am going to make some breakfast.
mm, Back down to the bitter cold tonight, sukee. Looks like we are in for minus 37 with the wind chill:\
O, Canada!
happy brekkies
Scrabby!

what does Gran do?

When you are "pro" you don't get to see how many words there are and how many on each tile if any
Are not pro i mean
I have a VPN router (to connect with office server) and my own router and I have to reconnect everything (with modem too) once or twice a week. I don't know why, but I know how to fix it.
Okay
hope your internet behaves, Scrabbs.. that is why I often lurk, concentrating on finding as many words as I can before I get kicked off the net! Lately, it has been good.. knock wood
I can still remember how I went pro after just 3 days:)
So how did gran know a ta6/18 was needed to finish?
Hi Aloy
I went pro my first night here.
Lickety i guess

Or gran was down to a t6 and it had to be ta
But lickety isnt always available
I took a while to go pro
Yaa! our sick kitty is drinking water on his own:)) and just ate a dab of food for the first time in 3 days!!
Yay, kitty! Eat, drink, and get better.
great news crossy!
My old bunny Gandalf died Thursday morning.
Woot for the kitty
The vet never did figure out what the problem was. i would have had to toss another 500 dollars at them
I am sorry about gandalf, scrabby:(
Sorry to hear that Scrabs. Gandalf is now over the Rainbow bridge with Muffin and Biscuit
It is so tough when our babies are sick.
Oh Scrabbs, so sorry to hear about Gandalf.
He was a very old bunny, was he not, scrabby?
Gandlaf would have been 12 in April. Then end was swift and I was with him, and no euthanasia decision.
That is well
My oldest bunny ever...a little old man.
he had been off for a bit?
Is 12 old for a bunny?
12 is very old
Average is 7-10, depends on health issues of course
Then you got to enjoy those extra years with him/her
Annie, I heard noise in his room, next to mine, at 4:30am, ran in and found him limp, not breathing, but still with a heart rate. Within 2 minutes he was gone.
Scrabbs. Good way to leave. When I first started playing Babble, you mentioned Gandalf and I thought it was a nice name for a bunny. Maybe he was calling to you to say goodbye.
I think he had a stroke then a seizure. I am glad it was quick and I was with him. I hate deciding when it is right to euthanize a pet.
He went the right way. You will have good memories of Gandalf.
He was skittish so not a bunny I could hold and cuddle, but he had a nice life.
All your bunnies have wonderful lives. I love their names.
I have 2 bunnies now--Sir Gulliver Rabbit and Remy Martin.
angels will ro7 the red carpet for Gandalf to hope on
hop on that is

cross or diane have either of you heard of a restaurant in Vancouver called Raw Canvas?
So, ivesy will be at work!
Good thing about minus 40 area is that i no longer need to convert as the two scales merge
too far away from me MLF:)
Vancouver is clear across the country from crossy, and I never go to Vancouver..... :-)
I can look it up though.
hello lady di.. yes i will.. seems i always am there lol
ah i was just curious saw a restaurant on a tv show there last night sounded kind of interesting but i am not sure if its still open or not. I am not visiting or anything and i looked it up online and still not sure if its open or not.
not important
2700 miles for me from my town to north vancouver:))
travel time at 55 mph is 40 hours give or take:) love the internet for that sort of thing;)
lol cross
It's an interesting concept MLF ! We have similar establishments in Alberta, but more in a bar/lounge setting where the patrons can do oil paintings. Two of my daughters have had fun doing that!
we have one that my nieces go to.. callen paint on tap..they enjoy it
It appears to be open MLF, just not today.
Those type of establishments are popping up everywhere.
diane i guess similar .. that place in vancouver according the internet got in trouble because the liquor people didnt want them to paint and drink at the same time/area of the place. I think its now closed but i am not sure
i dont drink myself and am not a painter but i would love to have a place like that here
anyone have a clue for as 6/21 please

Sorry Annie, just getting started here.
thanks, Scrabss
ty, scrabby
I passed halfway and need a break. Bye, kids.
We have a large art studio/gallery that was once a old tavern from the late 1800's. the town saved the building from developers and made it a place where you can get lessons, paint and display your work to the public and sell it at same time
bye, Scrabbs

it is one of the better things out town council members did right
darn. should of tiny url that
http://tinyurl.com/ojwfvch
We have a heritige group where you can register your historic home/business and the town will pay 50% of any renovations as long as you stay true to the original design of the building. Keep our old building from being plowed under for big box stores and mini-malls:)

I have been lazy of late, but it is now time for Crossy's quote of the day!! I really like this one..."Do not fall in love with people like me. I will take you to museums, and parks, and monuments, and kiss you in every beautiful place, so that you can never go back to them without tasting me like blood in your mouth. I will destroy you in the most beautiful way possible. And when I leave you will finally understand, why storms are named after people."--Caitlin Siehl

Alcohol, alcohol, rah, rah, rah

mmmm....booze....
i may need some if the plow guy doesn't come back....someone parked next to my space did not move his car, so my space was not plowed....may have to shovel out the space....
oh, that's awful, Penq.
yes...send good thoughts to my plow guy!
You need to shovel out your space and dump all that snow BEHIND the guy's car
good vibes coming up!
he's gone....not sure who it was....
... or on top ... ... or better yet ... in
will have to shovel it out today because the temps are dropping and it will freeze in place....
How does someone parking next to you prevent your spot from getting plowed?
plow guy has no room to go around him...
i am near the end of the row...
... can't get the plow in
yet another day of computer intermittency...
Hi TO
we get that problem all the time. some of the seniors in the building only drive their cars once a week and lots of unplowed spaces are a result
Oh I forgot, you all move your cars to get your whole spot plowed out. They don't do that around here.
hi hego
yes, we have to move them....we are reminded of that every year by the landlord...
where are you supposed to move the car TO?
When enough unplowed spaces accumulate, they order a total evacuation for an hour and clean the entire thing
Most condo and apartment parking areas around here don't have enough room for all the residents to move their cars. The plow does the area behind and you deal with the sides yourself.
i move my car....next to the dumpster on the other side of the lot....
how stupid that rule is.........
i tried the brownie sea salt cookies last night. they are good for anyone who likes the darker chocolate.
it's not stupid....prevents the snow from building up....
works fine if people move their cars...
It sounds like a lot of work. First you have to dig out of your spot, then move your car, then dig it out of that spot while the rest of your spot is being plowed.
i have a driveway full of ice.
no, molly....you move the car first before the storm comes....no shoveling until after the storm....you shovel out your car once and move it to a clean space...
i imagine a large parking lot and all the cars getting moved so then there is another area that is not plowed. seems very weird and bizarre to me.
Thankfully, I just drive over it all now:)
God bless my garage!
the plow guy usually comes back and plows the area near the dumpster after people have gotten their cars back to their usual spaces....
we have no assigned spaces other than the 6 handicapped spot, so it is first come, first parked
i actually like my assigned space....it's right next to the walkway to the mailboxes...
I've seen no assigned spaces parking lots get ugly in the snow. Nothing like digging out a spot and then having someone take it.
it happens
in 5/12?
I just leave them to it now. they can fight it out while I park right in the back . i refuse to play bumper cars with the seniors:)
pen love the photo
... not capable
we have our own parking spots. but with four cars in driveway not much he can do with all the snow. my spot rarely get plowed becuz i walk to work

and a red door is a good thing
bad Crossy!
A red door is a universal sign of welcome. Goes back many years.
... there's a community north of Toronto with a large Chinese population ... they went to Town Council with a request to remove the number 4 from all street addresses in the town ... ... given the size of the Chinese population they almost got it through
my condo board would never go for the red door lol
I better behave. We (Toronto zoo) have load of two panda's for 10 years I believe as well as a zoo on the west coast

Our wonderful neighbor snow-blowed our driveway for us. He's a doll.
i think we got about 5 or 6...
Temps finally about freezing today, so it's melting quickly (THANK GOD!)
same here, but the sleet covered it.
it's warm (around 32) right now but it's supposed to drop tonight so everything will freeze...

good neighbors need to be encouraged! you don't know the diff until you have bad neighbors
We are very fortunate to have good neighbors. We all help each other out.

A neighbor who takes his snow blower to your driveway deserves, at least, a six pack.

it is 42 degrees so snow is turning to mush which will freeze. it is the freezing that I am worried about

Gawd. I seriously dislike Sunday nights... Friday night is my delight, and so is Saturday Morning. But Sunday night breaks my heart, to think of Monday Morning. 😩
Soodle, I love the picture of your Dad and his friend. I would love to have been there, knocking back a few with the elders and listening to their stories.
Molly - it was one of the best afternoons I've had recently! These 2 old boys - both very fond of whiskey - both 87 years old, wandering down Memory Lane. It was a joy to be part of it! Then my father started singing...... Lol!
Hi Soods. Someday there will be retirement when you forget what day of the week it is
All that was missing was a fireplace and a fiddle player.
Bring it on, Bich!!! I'm sick of this Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 business. I want to kick off & have fun!!
sol
Molly - there was neither a fiddle nor a fireplace, but the 2 lads were pure entertainment. My Dad actually sang a song he last sang at my wedding.... Pure gold!
Soodle, I'm semi-retired but work part-time at home. I can do my work whenever I choose and take off any time I want....it is HEAVEN.
I've been in the house for so many days, only going out to walk the fluffies. I seriously need to start going out.
I'm pea green with envy, Mimi
Bichon, when I recently had the flu for 3 weeks I actually didn't leave my apt. for FIVE weeks. And the weather here is great.
Bich... Are you snowed in?
Well, Soodle, after over 40 years of going into an office and watching the clock, I'm feeling very lucky now indeed....even though I had to get "old" to do so.
It sounds like a wonderful experience, Soodle. One to put in your memory book and tell the grands about.
For sure, Molls. :-)
Not really snowed in, streets are cleared after yesterday's storm. But I am junt not motivated to go do anything
I'm still trying to figure out what "semi-retired" is.
Love that your dad is so spry. I told my son I'm planning to be a really wacky old lady and he said "How could you NOT?"
Molly, it means I get my early retirement check every month but still work and get a paycheck.
Mimi, I had a flu recently & it almost wiped me out. I hope you are recovered.
Ah, I thought getting retirement money and working was not allowed. Shows what I know.
Wow! That sounds cool, Mimi... Paycheck AND retirement check?
It was terrible...almost went to the hospital twice. Recovered for a week or so and then had major oral surgery which put me down again. At least I've lost 10 pounds!
You can do both, Molly, but you can only make a certain amount of money per year under full retirement age or they decrease your amount. Once you hit full retirement age, there is no limit to what you can earn otherwise.
clue for the last lo 5 please
Are you talking about Social Security Mimu. I'm sorry I took mine early
these last 30 words or so are coming slowly.....
So you can hit full retirement age, collect retirement money and there is no limit to what you can earn if you work?
lo___ Lenya
Yes, bichon. I'm taking mine early because I had to but it just means it's less per month than if I waited, gambling on the fact that I'd live longer.
ty bich, should have seen that one
yw Nancy
Yes, Molly, that is correct. I'm just switching over to my ex's benefit amount now since he just hit 62 so mine is going up by a fair amount....YAY!! One of the FEW positive things about having been married to him.
Mr. Bich is waiting til he's 70 so he will get a lot more
I had no idea that you could collect retirement money and still work full time.
Actually, bichon, you get the same amount--whatever is in your account---it's just spread over a longer period of time when you take it younger so I guess it would be possible to "run out." But since I am still working, my retirement fund is still growing.
No, not full time
I only work part-time, Molly, and am limited to around $15,000 a year in earnings because they decrease the retirement amount.
But once you're full retirement age, you can work as much as you want.
I could never go back to work
Then I don't understand. Mimi said...Once you hit full retirement age, there is no limit to what you can earn otherwise.
That's true.
If you are at retirement age and still working full time, yes, you collect ss benefits and the rate increases every year you work. I speak from experience having worked full time 9 years past retirement age.
That I don't understand, but I really wouldn't consider working.
That's correct, Molly. And while you're working, you keep adding to your retirement fund no matter what age you are.
Yeah, but once you apply for social security benefits, there are limits to how many hours you can work. Like I said, I'm not sure what you folks are talking about but I'll just bow out now.
When I went to SS, they said it didn't matter how much I earned as I was over 65.
There is only a limit to how much you can earn if you take EARLY retirement (before, for me, age 66). You still get your retirement check if you go over that amount....they just reduce the amount accordingly. After 66 there are no limits.
That's what I was told also.
Often people think you get less total money if you take early retirement but it's the same amount....just spread out longer, so less per month, but not less overall.
OK---back to my work. Have good evenings, all.
in5/112 pls
in5/12 even
not good at something
ty I never see that one
np
Public service announcement for US Babblers who haven't yet taken social security: The consequences for deciding when to claim make a huge difference to your financial quality of life. It turns out that most Americans claim as soon as possible (age 62) rather than wait for 'full' retirement age (for most baby boomer Babblers, that's 66) or even waiting till 70. (No advantage in waiting after you turn 70, the benefits are capped as of that age.) Benefits are determined by your age at claiming and gender, and are indexed so that if you live to your statistical average age, you should collect the same amount whether you claim early or late. But that doesn't mean it doesn't matter. (more...)
what if you live past your statistical age?
More on SS: If you think you are likely to fail to reach your statistically average life expectancy--like you are in poor health--you should probably claim early. And if you think you are in better than average health and likely to live longer than average, you should claim late. You can't 'run out' of money either way--you don't really have an 'account' with social security, so if you live to 120 you'll keep collecting every month.
and how do I find out what my statistcal age is?
ok that answered my question. ty
Last comments (I promise!) If you really need the money when you hit 62, then it makes sense to claim early, even knowing that you will earn less monthly forever. But if you are working, or have a partner still working, you might well postpose so that when you are non-working you will have greater fixed monthly benefit. And there are special rules that may make claiming off a former or current spouse's benefits more valuable than claiming off your own earning record.
s
If you google "mortality tables", or "Society of Actuaries" or "Life Expectancies US" I'm sure that you'll get more tables about mortality rates and life expectancies than you'll ever be able to make thorough use of
ok
Wow, when Jan has something to say, it's not just a short little "how is everyone tonight"
OK I lied--one more thing. Many more elderly women live in poverty than elderly men, since we usually earned less and live longer. So it's really important to figure out the rules and maximize your SS benefits. If you can't figure it out yourself--and it's complicated to make the right choice--there are websites that explain it all. The important thing is--once you make a choice, you're stuck with it or life, so it's worth making the choice that you know will be right for you.
And yes, just what I want to do...a Google search on mortality tables...
I guess it's because I feel so strongly about this, Molly. I wish things were easier to understand, but it makes such a huge difference to our 'golden years.' My parents made the wrong choice and if I hadn't supported them in old age, they'd have been in really tough shape.
back to the usual chat...
fw bye for now
Bye peri...
It all depends on what kind of "work life" a person has had. The wealthy score big in retirement just like they did in their working years. No matter when they claim benefits.
That's true, and it doesn't even count the other savings that wealthier people are likely to have socked away. So for them, it's just a nice little bit of icing on the cake. And the richer you are, the more likely you choose to claim late because you don't need the monthly income as much. Ironic...
Your parents are fortunate to have had a wealthy child to support them in their "golden years" when they made the wrong choice. Not many people have that option.
So true, though most people don't think of teachers as 'wealthy.' Still, we were able to do it, and my siblings couldn't have. So I know that I (and they) were blessed in that regard.
Maybe wealthy was the wrong word. But if you are able to support two other people, as well as your own family, you have more money than most.
Well, it helps that we only had one kid, and she was on her own by then. And we live a reasonably frugal lifestyle, which helps, too. But given the current economic realities, so many of us are living paycheck to paycheck and simply don't have anything to spare, however much they might wish they could.
The "current economic realities" are going to skew the economy in a bad way. Paycheck to paycheck? How about all the over 50 people who are out of work and can't find a job because no one will hire that age group?
And maybe I should have said over 40 because employers are only hiring in a very limited age group at the present time.
hello....
It's really sad how the middle class has been hollowed out in recent years, and I can't see how this is going to change, as more and more jobs get eliminated by technology or outsourced.
Hello penquis!
When the middle class, aka...the hardest working people...get hollowed out, that is usually when there is a revolution. However, people are too lazy to do anything about what the government has done to them. It's sad.
I'm not sure revolution is much of an answer in the modern world, look at the disaster of the Arab Spring. And I'm not even sure that government is really the driving engine now, in a globalized economy. Governments seem powerless to implement even minor assistances like training programs, a living wage, etc. It's hard to see what can be done to reverse the trend of a fabulously wealthy tiny top of the pyramid and the rest of us with wages driven down to subsistence levels.
Governments "seem" powerless, but they are not. They choose to be, because the people in government are the fabulously wealthy.
Hello everyone
I was watching the PBS series on the Roosevelts (Teddy, FDR and Eleanor) and I was struck by the kind of actions that FDR took during the Great Depression. We haven't seen that kind of leadership in my lifetime...
Oh my God, she's alive!! She survived the shoveling marathon.
Hi car.eeyore...
LOL...been lying in bed all day with my back being sore.
I've been having survivor's guilt just thinking about how brutal this winter has been out East and in Europe...
Chiropractors and auto body people are going to be raking in the cash in your area, Car.
hi car...
Sorry, but survivor's guilt is BS. You can't help what happened to other people that didn't happen to you.
Nobody thinks that. But it's common to feel that there but for the grace of God go I... and that's what I call survivor's guilt. YMMV of course.
your mileage may vary...for those of you who don't speak in abbreviations
BTW, Molly, did you take that icon photo? It's stunning. In the Northwest we've been having Technicolor sunsets the past few days. (Hah--autocorrect capitalized the adjective for me!)
Does the AO have to do with the big vein?
sorry....don't have it yet...
How about the in 5/12?
I mean a clue for it...I know it does not have to do with the heart
don't have that either....will look....
in 5/12: a lead-in
that's the last i word..

Hello
hi TO...
Just found the ao, nothing to do with the artery, it's a classical Greek verb tense.

Hi TO...

Yup, we speak of little else round these parts...

hello!
hi phan....
did you have a good day, Pen?
yes, thanks.....neighbor shoveled my parking space for me....went to a movie and dinner with bro.....and you?
I worked. Had an issue with one of the aides. Unfortunately, I had to go to the manager about the situation. Other than that, I had a good day.
ah...
what kind of aide phand? are you in sschools or hospital
a nursing home.
I am glad you are taking care of the clients! Thanks you from someone whose mother was in a home for a while
It is hard work, but I enjoy it very much.
the people who took care of my mother were wonderful to her. It was too heartbreaking for me to have her here but I SO appreciatied good care and sometimes the lowest paid people don't understand.
thank you phand and all other caregivers@
That is true. Unfortunately, they are so important to the client's care.
and most of them do a great job. It is just that they don't have the same level of training, I am sure.
we had some melting today....water, water, everywhere water....
sorry....dk how that happened!
poor penquis is fading away like the wicked witch
ha!
and it's all going to freeze solid tonight.....
oh no! I hate ice
Ah. It is a tough grid. Hi penquis, bugsaw and all. Finishing and going to watch tv. Probably not the oscars as the entertainment gets my husband too riled about good taste, on and on.
can you fling salt now so it won't take hold ?
tonight with wind chill, it will be about 25 to 30 below...
hi mere...
Don't you just love riled up hisbands, Stidge?
the roads have water 6 inches or more deep in some places...
Then they need to close the city down for tomorrow penquis. I would hate to think of people driving in those conditions.
ha!....we don't close the city for weather....we just drive slowly....trucks will sand and salt the roads....
I am so glad I live in the Northwest where we are free from most of that most of time. Please be safe
thanks....i will be careful....
the winter has been awful.....LOTS of snow....but i am glad i am not in Massachusetts, northern Maine or PEI....
I have been reading about it with a form of survivor's guilt. We have daffodils coming out now and I am in Canada.
ah....lucky you....
I spent one year in Durham NH and was late every day that it snowed during the night. We don't get up early enought to shovel if we have to.
well i am not working anymore.....so i don't REALLY have to go anywhere....but as long as it's not snowing, i usually go out...
My daffodils started showing the full flowers today. Crocuses and snowdrops have been up for over a week. But we really do think of our friends in the East! Love to you all.
thanks!
Heading out....g'nite all!
Hello all.
Wow -- guess I may be the only one left...
i'm here

i'm being kicked off the couch and up to bed. it is actually really nice to be back and to see you! (and nice to be remembered :) )
hopefully i'll see you again soon!
have a lovely week, tragicstud!
you as well! :)
29 to go. hello
Is anyone watching the Oscars? I like the poodle dress!
hey harp! The poodle dress was pretty distinctive, that's for sure!
I was multi-tasking, but it is going to be a grueling week. I am not yet working at the same level as a more experienced teacher at this grade level, but I am getting so much more done than I used to!
going to call it a night soon and head to bed so I am at least a little better rested for the staff development morning tomorrow (late start for students).
How is the weather for you? We were sunny and warm again... I am so worried we will have a bona fide drought this summer. So unusual for our part of the world to have two very dry winters and years in a row.
Well, I am at halfway. Probably time to head out before I turn into a pumpkin. have a great week all! *poof*
We just went from warm (in the 50s') to around zero with a foot of snow. Weather is fickle!
