good morning, anyone have a home remedy for an earache
ouch sorry annie
Molly, your profile picture gave me a good laugh
thanks, Harry
halfway! bbl - laundry!
Annie, heat might help. Hot compresses or a heating pad. Old wives recommend a few drops of lukewarm olive oil in the ear. I'm never sure how good that would be if you are dealing with infection.
I have the ho4/5 what is the stat for the other 'h' please?
I have tried all that you wrote. The olive oil seems to help until I can re5 a doctor tomorrow.
ho4,5 also
both are ho4/5
If you do a Google search on "Home remedies for ear ache" you will find all the standard ideas.
Thanks, Molly
got it thanks
Ear ache is awful. I'm sorry you have to deal with this on a weekend.
Yes, I did google. That is where I found the OO remedy. It let me sleep so that was a blessling. Thanks for helping.
I have never had an earache before this. Not pleasant.
so sorry, annie -- i remember the terrible earaches my brother had as a kid -- really miserable
You can also try flushing it with a 50/50 combination of warm water and peroxide. That is probably the first thing they will do at the doctor's office.
Molly, will try that later.
also earthclinic.com
thanks, Babs, will do

Hi, Pen!
Fluffy snow falling again. Pffth.
Here too Judi. I feel like I will never be warm again.
we are expecting 2-4 inches tonight...
I have some chili going. I figure if we are stuck inside all day, it might as well smell good.
we have rain today some snow still on the ground but the temps are going to drop tonight
It is due to global chillin'
high of 46 on Wed....first time above freezing since Jan., I think....I will need wading boots to go out!
Chuckling at your icon, Molls. Several cardinals at our suet feeder this a.m. Along with about five different woodpeckers.
I have birds in a feeding frenzy out back. Mostly starlings and blue jays.
we have cardinals at our bird feeder almost everyday
i bet they don't look like that one... ;o)
We are jetting off to Arizona on Thursday. Can't wait for some nice, warm desert dryness.
pen first time above freezing all day since jan?
I have a friend who refers to his cardinals as "welfare cardinals". He says they stand outside and chirp at the bird feeder if it's empty.
Ru, don't know. Don't believe in global chillin'
i think so....the average temp (counting 24 hours a day) was less than 14 in Feb....
lol. Yes, the suet feeder was my husband's idea. Now the birds sit on the deck railing and glare at us if it is empty. The cats like to chatter at them.
molly never saw that before with ours very interesting though
our loves to watch them outside too
I tell him he is just enabling the birds.
Little freeloaders need to fly off and get jobs.
CDBFA
lol@ enabling the birds. get out there and get a job, tweety, or become part of the food chain:)
sometimes ;i do think cats and birds see each other at the same time but dont always care
Belated hellos to Ru and Crossy. It's just not breakfast without you two stud muffins.

Birds can be flighty that way.
Some do acquire beak earnings
Some just think they'll be hot chicks their whole lives. Sad really.
It's all in the pecking order
sloth is a cardinal sin....
I Just was told on Friday that I have to get a full police screening if I wish to continue to volunteer at the school now that I am no longer technically a student. Seems I finished my exam on Tuesday and immediately became a unknown threat :/ Pain in the butt, but I guess they have to cover all the bases.
help with the fo 6's please?
that is crazy cross

So criminal students can attend there, but they won't accept criminal volunteers?
lol. I am the same man I was last week lol

We actually had one arrested last year for child porn charges
Well, you could have been radicalized after you completed your indoctrination classes. Bend over and prepare for inspection, infidel.
Bureaucratic ass covering at it's finest
yes, yes, bend over and cough:(
cross how nice
They are probably only liable for people they employ, volunteer or otherwise
I think I ran a red light in 1985...they may have to just shoot me:)
I thought only such stupidity happened here in the US. Apparently Canada has caught our beaurocratic fever.
Student: who is that strange guy in the hall offering epic breakfasts...
Trust me Judi, stupidity is not limited to these united states
cross you ran a red light.. oh call the fbi lol

Not a huge deal anyways. I will give them 2 pieces of I.D, My U.K passport and My U.K birth certificate and they can make of it what they will. They will love my birth cert. It looks like something exhumed from a clay jug that could of been in the same cave as the dead sea scrolls lol. think is th size of a sheet of paper with a stamp displaying Queen Liz affixed in the top right corner lol.
pen huh?

TE 5/18?
ruru. I read early chat. how are you feeling?
hi peri
so so peri.. thanks for asking
te 5....hi te** gadgets + high point letter...
thanks pen
yw...
i am having trouble finding my last 5 words. one of them is a 5 the rest 4's and they all begin with a T
3 left
do you have to 6/18?
yes
*penq doesn't really read the chat*
i just found a word i thought it entered a while ago
ah....
lol ruru
never said i don't read the chat....though there are times when i avoid it...
I don't clue 4's anymore..
like when pen?
i usually just post 4 stats....
and only if someone asks for clues...
pen sometimes i cant find what is right in front of me wether in chat or the puzzle
i avoid it when i start out....want to find as many as i can....i also avoid it often when there is a lengthy personal discussion going on....or when there is negative posting....or when people are giving clues when they haven't been asked to....
ah.. ok
i have two left i will be back
ok...bye fan...
I don't understand the giving clue thing when people haven't asked for it either (except when I'm trying to be cute)
do you turn off the chat then penq?
not usually....just ignore it....
oh.. I'm not able to do that
good for you
I don't understand giving clues when they are not asked for either. And several people have asked that it not happen. You can turn chat off if a clue is asked for and you don't want to see the answer. But when people just blurt them out, it's hard to miss. I think people are just showing off when they do that.
some think it's being helpful....i am not usually up late enough for the flip, but when i was there, people were tossing out clues left and right....made me glad i am not there at the flip...
possibly..
the flip is fun.. nice people at the flip
stats are sent out not clues
often pre-lickety
The flip always seems like a contest of egos to me. Nice people, of course. But it seems like a big "who gets it first" competition.
when i was there, it was both stats and clues...
<---guilty as charged
but i am not usually there.....i think i have been there twice...
There used to be a "no clues in the first hour" agreement. But that is long gone.
not * clues....more like meaning clues...
*checks ego*
I have a great clue for the ch 7 if I'm here and someone asks for it
and you are dying to use it, right?...;o)
maybe later if i'm lucky :D
I have a basketball game to watch though later
hopefully, it is not a clue like "medication used to treat colorectal cancer"....or "plant found in New Guinea"....
those clues crack me up
worthless...
exactly

Earache. Peroxide, a dropper full in the ear so it fills, while lying on your side. Let it fizz for 20 minutes, then flip over and do the other side. Also will stop a budding cold in its tracks.

ah...probably heard it earlier....i think i had one too many * in it....
congrats, jeanne....
i made chili in the slow cooker and it's too salty...drat!
phan, british version of an fe5/16
British...
Add potatoes and the saltiness will dissipate.
If you use no salt tomatoes and tomato sauce and use your own seasonings instead of a mix, you control how much salt goes in your chili
ty penquis for the tr clue!
thanks, Jeanne! now I am done!
yes, molly....i thought i had all low sodium tomatoes and beans, but i think perhaps i did not....
i added a little lemon juice and some sugar to my bowl and it helped a little...
i used a new recipe...
One tip about reducing saltiness that does not work for me is adding peanut butter. Unless you like your chili tasting like peanut butter
ah....a little too daring for me...
i may pick up some plain yogurt....
It depends on how sodium sensitive you are. "Low sodium" still has salt in it. Also depends on how heavy handed you are with the salt shaker.
i just followed the recipe....i am not salt sensitive, but it was a little too much....
Stidgere's tip will save the chilli
No joke, I would seriously throw up if there was yogurt in my chili.
i read online that the potato tip does not work...
do you put any sour cream in your chili, molly?....probably not....
It's never worked for me, Pen. The only thing that has ever worked is making another batch, with no salt and doubling the batch.
It has worked for me pen
Sour cream and yogurt are two completely different animals.
i could also add some tomato sauce....
it's restaurant week here....actually the next two weeks....so most of this will get frozen, i think....
I find many canned vegetables are too salty for my tastes. But looking at the picture of the harbor at your home makes any hearty soup sound good!
Best wishes to all for a pleasant evening as I wonder off.
ha!
g'nite stidgmere...
I made chili today too.
chili must have been in the stars today....or in the weather, at least....
Indeed
I mentioned making chili this morning. Maybe I inspired you.
no, i bought the ingredients a few days ago....finally decided to make it today....had it slow cooking at 10....
i will give my brother some....he has weak taste buds... ;o)
Happy St. David's Day to all the welsh out there
hi...
Hi penquis. Chili sounds wonderful right now.
well mine was a little too salty....but it's salvageable, i think....
after the cold outside... warm & salty would still be good.
after the cold outside... warm & salty would still be good.
it was ok....new recipe....it was easy, which is why i picked it....
I thought about chili today but for some reason the pan made lasagna.
ah....that sounds good, too....
it's restaurant week here in Maine....so i will be going out several times over the next two weeks....a chance to eat at pricier places for less...
it's restaurant week here in Maine....so i will be going out several times over the next two weeks....a chance to eat at pricier places for less...
mmm.... lobster?
sorry....message did not move right away!
there is some lobster dishes on some menus, but not a lot....lobstermen have not been able to work with the cold and ice....
That's a shame. I'm ready for spring so we can get back to normal living.
some fish, shrimp, calamari, clam stuff....also beef, pork....a little of everything...
sounds good .. lower price is always good too
yes....just checked .... one place includes a dish served with lobster risotto...
sounds scrumptous
we have some amazing restaurants in my area....amazing because the population is quite small....
I've never been to Maine but it always looks so pretty in photos. I hear blueberries are good up there.
Maine Restaurant Week is a way to promote restaurants....helps relieve cabin feever, too.....it's always the first ten days to two weeks of March...
yes, we have great wild blueberries....
lots are grown not all that far from here...
We have the flower show going on right now here. I've only gone a few times but the displays are amazing and make you want spring to come soon.
ah yes....flower shows are nice...

Doing fine. I'm feeling very optimistic tonight that we got a good offer on Aunty's condo!

(I inherited it when she died 3 1/2 years ago; I'm finally ready to sell because it's been wearing on me for a while

Yes. As a matter of fact, we had a mini bidding war this afternoon and the buyer is willing to close by the end of the month!
ah...even better!
(I got a price I'm very happy with. Last month we had an offer and they offered $20K less than what it was listed at;then after dickering back & forth and I thought we were done; they backed out at midnight the week before closing. (I really am glad they did; I didn't like them)
