Morning all. May I please have a clue for st6-18 the 2nd? Thanks
g'day peach. st6. st + rodent + vowel
Thanks much my dear.
Gooooooooooooood morning fellow Babblers xx
good morning worzel, son. xoxox
Good morning Mum xx how are you and Dad?
we're muddling along. how are you and Diane?
We are good thank you - Diane being blessed with beauty, of course xx
* giggle * of course, and there you are ....as handsome as ever too. xoxox
awww - must be in the genes - i get it from you!! xx
awww, sweetie, so kind. you been kissing the blarney stone again?
kiss it? with my gob i swallowed it lmao xx
are we still connected? or has there been a hiccup?
i dunno - i posted another comment after that but dr god swallowed it!!
aha, we are connected again. nasty hiccup!!
ditto wor
tart
oo sorry
and no, it wasn't personal lol
* giggle * well it did come out aloud.
was thinking of my ex wife lol!!!
so what are you plans for the day ahead?
I am getting heavily into jigsaw puzzles at the moment and Di bought me a jigsaw of a lovely winter scene by the artist Thomas Kincade (one of my favourite contemporary artists) for me birthday. It's a bloody tough one, but that's going to be my plan for today, make a start on it. How about you? xx
our day is almost over. we went to church as usual, then over to son simon's for afternoon tea...more like a high tea actually. came home full as a goog. grandkiddies were delightful as always. they ar so full of energy. i get tired just watching them.
I don't have children - sometimes I think that's a blessing. To be honest I've never really been the fatherly type - I tend to see my pets as my children lol. Mind you, even they can tire you out. We have a 5year old West Highland White terrier and a 10 year old budgie - both as mad as fleas and so full of energy all the time
i believe that
Di's just reading a story online about how dogs kissing you is supposed to be healthy lol - I expect she'll be running round the house later trying to snog him lol.
so long as he's shaved....lol
haha
well mum i'm going to disappear now as I have shopping to do before I get to my jigsaw. I hope you and Dad have a lovely sleep and it's been wonderful to catch up with you - I must come on more often, I do apologise xx
np's son. enjoy your day kisses to di, and of course yourself. xoxoxox
xx
Good morning all.
that was close sukee. i was about to logoff. how are you, dear?
Great, how are you?
fair to middling. lol...nah, i'm okay thanx
We had snow yesterday, on the first day of spring. But it didn't come to anything.
that's late, isn't it?
Not really for here, it has snowed in April.
Still annoying though, it's going to be cold this coming week too.
our weather turned cold enough for a frost two nights ago, and today the temp was 28C. go figure!
Weather is weird these days :)
it sure is. i never know what to put on when going out any more. hubby says wear at least three layers and peel them off when you start to warm up.
I just can't wait until I can wear my shorts and runners without socks :)
time for bed for me. enjoy the grid sukee. xoxox
You take care Rose :)
Good morning, everyone:)
Hi crossy. A bit quiet this morning.
Howdy, sukee. Winter is back with a vengeance in my neck of the woods. All told we got 5 inches of wet heavy snow yesterday:(
Oh wow, we got flurries.
It's a bit colder.
hi all. I could type right away cause I had the batteries in backwards in my keyboard :(
Boo is back lying on the radiator.
Hi peri.
lol, peri. The batteries in this kb seem to last forever. it uses a pair of AAA batteries and have been in there for well over 4 years now;)
what kind of batteries do you use?
crossy I have a computer question.
I use Duracell
go ahead peri
then I must buy duracell
when I turn my computer own there is a low hum
not regular alkaline. get the better ones.. NiCads i think
after is it on a while the hum gets louder then turns into a buzz and a louder buzz which drives me nuts
could it be the fan. I have a desktop Dell about 3 years old. computer and monitor are one piece
no they are lithioun ion batteries
lithium*
When is the last time you cleaned out the heat sink in your computer?
huh?
mm... an all-in-one, that makes it harder
what is a heat sink?
Over time any desktop computer gets "dust bunnies" built up in the heat sink fins behind the cpu fan
Have you tried forced air on the fan? My laptop was heating up a lot until I started doing that regularly.
someone suggested that I take the back off and check the fan(s) and get rid of dust. but I am afraid to do that myself
this has to be cleaned out from time to time. Like right now my own machine is very noisy and the fan runs at a higher sped than normal
it must be done peri
I have one of those cans of forced air. but I would have to take the back off, right, sukee?
get a geek friend to help
my nephew knows a lot about computers. not the one who lives here.
When I had a desktop I found it easy to remove the back. It's not hard, I used to even add more memory myself.
You would be surprised how much crap builds up behind the cpu fan
other nephew will be here in two weeks for Passover but I don't want to ask for help then
I might give it a try with bro in laws help or the nephew who lives here. thanks
The machine starts to run hotter until you get performance issues
is worse if you have pets. all their hair gets in there
ok
it is quietly humming now which is not bothering me
mine runs qoiet for a while then speeds up like it is a jet about to take off. lol. I must do a D&C on her real soon:)
quiet
found an 8 all by myself
wtg, I found 3 with the same ending :)
Yes. it is a good idea to head over to Maximum PC Magazine website, do a bit of research and learn basic interior cleaning methods and how to add ram, or another hard drive.
it is all modular and quite easy
I found the ar8/40
ok, thanks crossy will do that
:)
Oh, I don't have that one yet :)

hi cross
And now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!!
Corner N stats please?
Mexico City is built over the ruins of a great Aztec city, Tenochtitlán. Because it is built on a lake, Mexico is sinking at a rate of 6 to 8 inches a year as pumps draw water out for the city’s growing population.
inidan flat bread
cross indian flat bread is that for me?
yup
ty
Uh, oh! Dangerous situation in Mexico City.
I think I would either start importing water, or move the city over a bit:)
is the U a un word?
yup

Got it now.

es5/10 = an organic compound
Now this is interesting: Ever dreamed of owning a piece of the auld sod? Well now you can! http://www.buyireland.com/ lol. I should buy an acre of bush up north and sell it like this:)
got the es5
Haha. One of my patients dried out grass from the family's lawn and sold it to his classmates in 7th grade. THe mother told me that story.
scrabb just read your profile how awesome
There are long ar- and at- words that I do not yet see.
the longest ar word i have found so far is a ar6
scrab its at 6/18
lol! there are 43,560 square feet in an acre, and this person is selling ireland at 50 dollars an acre. that will net hi or her a tidy $2,178,000.00 !!
nbt
nbs
50 dollars a sq foot*
You could retire, Crossy!
lol! every town over there should set asode 20 acres or so, sell it by the square foot, and they could all retire1
aside
Morning everyone!
Hi IndianJan
Oops, IndiaJan
Howdy, jan
st7 = medical term for snoring/noist breathing
ty scrabby;)
Happy Sunday, Babblers!
morning, aloy

Hi Aloy
Hi welki

I hit a wall here so was off on FB
Hi Everybody!
And Scrabs gave me a 7! ty
hi hego!
morning, hego
Buon giorno, H!
hello you three. :)
exciting news.. workers are in the grove picking! wahoo
saw your post, scrabbs, about doing taxes - have to do mine soon. hate it.
Hate tax time the most!!
Picking what Aloy?
aloy - oranges? grapes?
valencia oranges
Yummy!
I owe the feds $1330 and NY $335. Like I didn't already donate enough last year!
They never get enough.
i treated us to some grapes yesterday - $3.00/pound!!!!! what do they cost down below?
Not that much.
i paid ahead this year, estimated taxes, but suppose we'll still have to pay some more. and i file with the u.s., too
I can get the cheap grapes for $2.50/pound, but I prefer the green seedless when they are available
that's what i bought, crossy, the green seedless (they had red seedless/seeded, too, but not as sweet)
welki, do you work in the US?
no, but as a dual citizen, i'm required to file tax returns every year
Do you pay taxes in both countries?
depends on annual income, hego
That's pretty awful.
not if you consider that my social security is preserved by paying my share to uncle sam :)
You pay US taxes but don't work in the US?
I found at8 by myself.
there are ways to minimize the tax (spending lots of time in the states is one - one i wish i could do more of!) - but there are lots of people who pay, or are supposed to pay, taxes to the us, even if they don't live/work there
good work!
scrab can I have a hint?
One who at6's
OH, of course! ty
ty, scrabby
Hi Crossy
Howdy, hego:)
always miss that re6.18, to make a salary again
TY! I was looking for that just now.
Not ready for re words.....
it's the double vowel that makes that one tricky.
ty, aloy
I am talking to my mother now and she is telling me about her pooping issues...grrrr. The obsession of th elderly.
(-: agree, hego
Soon we will be there, scrabby, and we will need someone to listen to us:)
Hey! Pooping is important! :)
My kid says he is going to dump me in the nastiest home he can find; i told him if he did that i would save up and hire a hit man:)

Sigmund Freud was born on same day as me:)

i am lost with the last part of the word
nm
small clue for st 8 please
Js completed! *drops dead*
st8 is a plural
st7 = plural, st7 singlar, st8 plural. of same word
The st7 28 says it can be pluralized, but the bloody grid is not taking it:( I hate Enable sometimes
Nope, not taking it
unless there is another st 7 that i am unaware of
there are two st7
that would be why then:)
crossy.....s + weight allowance word + lower digits minus the e"
that is the problem when you have not listed
st7 = plural, st7 singlar, st8 plural. of same word
I got it, mixi. have the find the other 7 first:)
still looking, diane...
st + soak flax + homonym of "two" ( for the 7 )
lol, Have no idea what 'soak flax" is. perhaps I best come back to this one later
st7 four of them start with the same six letters. lol.
it's a crossword puzzle word.... a good filler I guess :-)
Oh well; i shall worry about it later when it becomes my last word:)
okay.....st + last 5 letters of the almond flavoured liqueur.
there, that was better, ty
...which I love, but it gives me heartburn! Ama*****
Breakfast time....be back later
good morning, all - watching the world curling final as I hunt for words
Howdy, cybernan
Since the invent of computers I no longer have the patience to watch curling, darts, or billiards on t.v. It is like watching paint dry to me now:)
Tough we do have some top shelf teams here;)
though
gm, everyone! clue for the first se6/18?
we recorded the game crossy -- it was played in the middle of the night our time.
rihgt now for example I am watching a gory movie called Fire With Fire, starring Bruce Willis, babbling, playing a submarine simulation game, and working on my book all at the same time. Darn technology has given me a four-second attention span:)
you're watching the women, nan?
bristly, dawn
yes -- I hope Jen has calmed down for this one!
and dawg, too :)
se6/18 change the first vowel in si6/18
i used to work with amy nixon, nan. a real sweetheart

Uhg! Cats have managed to get into the plumbing access panel in my bathroom closet. Demons!
I hope the little ninjas don't fall down between the walls. Impossible to get them out of there. I can't contort myself.
We have a fear of that happening as well, Judi. we have an access panel under the bathroom sink, and the space runs the entire length of the apartment.
They think it's great fun to hide under the bathtub.
just shake the cat treat back by the hole and hope they come out
bag*
Pffth. They are not motivated by such feeble human attempts.
I plan on making a sturdy cover for it. last thing I need is having to rip the walls apart to get a stuck cat out
Amy Nixon? -- don't recall the name - where did she curl?
tadone!! finito!! hagd everyone!
grats, dawger
Cats successfully extracted. Hubby has a new home improvement project!
she's an olympian, cyber - out of calgary

any clues wanted before I leave?
hagd everyone
And now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!! Ever send off an Email telling the boss to cram his job where the sun does not shine, and only realizing later that you have 33 cents in your bank account., or send out a highly creative poison pen letter you wish you hadn't? Well now you can alter a setting within Gmail that will allow you to recall a sent email within a specific time limit! http://tinyurl.com/kskvrow
And I must add while I am talking about gmail app that unrollme.com is the handiest app ever for removing junk mail from your in-box forever!
now to remove more than 5 junk mails from your list, you must like the app on Fb, but it is a good trade-off
e

Evening all. Glorious weather here today. Got all the bed linen washed & dried in the sun! Glorious result for Ireland in the rugby. All well in the land of Soodle. :-)
hi Soodle, hi all
almost time to give myelf a pedicure :)
hi peri and soodle
we are not allowed to hang clothes on a line here :(
Hey, Peri. I bought some lovely lavender coloured nail polish yesterday. I thought of you. Hi Harp. :-)
The Irish Rugby boys are kicking ass and taking names.
And the women did the same today as well!! Great result. Peri, who says you can't hang out clothes???
township ordnance or some such thing
I love ths smell of clothes dried in the sun
Soodle, we have snotty Home Owners Associations who think clothes on the line looks too "low rent"
no clotheslines allowed.maybe I should hang my clothes on the trees and bushes
same here
In California (San Fransicko especially) they have other uses for clothes pins
<---trying to be amusing
Good heavens! I would regard that as an infringement of civil liberties. Mind you, where I live, nobody can see the 'Soodle-Smalls' on my line. Maybe if they were on view to the general public, I wouldn't hang them out....
*Applause for the lapdog*
Funny thing Soodle. We live in a country where people have died protecting our "civil liberties" and now we make laws to infringe on them. Go figure.
Whats the thinking behind the 'Non-Hanging-Of-Clean-Washing-On-The-L\nine law?
what Molly said: looks too "low rent"
FW, bye for now
are the je7-8-6 related?
and could I get a clue please?
Wow. Where I grew up, there was nothing shameful about washing clothes!
It's just too lower-class for some neighborhoods.
Harp - the je 7/48 are little piers. The je 8/65 are the most of these... I don't have the 6 yet
thanks

Good evening, everyone:)
Hi, crossy
hi crossy, jaxx
Hi, Bich. I seem to have scared crossy off
Nope, I am here. just writing a letter at the same time
One of our last days in the Bay Area and I am going to miss the nice weather
Ah, multitasking. I am making a birthday card at the same time.
A real letter! With ink and paper!! gasp! lol... my hand is cramping!
It is a long time since I had a proper handwritten letter. I miss them.
I wonder how many dollars a stamp is now? lol
Just think; If is email 70 letters a month my unlimited internet package pays for itself:)
If I*
ra 6/18, first one pls
You can't keep e-mails tied up with ribbon though. I have all our love letters tied up with ribbon and in a box.
Like hand written letters. they are scarce and add a consonant for 'more'
Poor clue - superlative of the 4 letter word is better.
nm
I put all my letters on a usb stick and put a giant red bow on it:)
Still not the same
I even dabbed French perfume on it:)
Now, that is just ridiculous.
:)
You should give the perfume to your lady wife.
aorta
that should wake you up, crossy. A free word
BBL after I have done the decoupage.
st 6/18, second one
I am back.letter is done:)
hi all
only st6 i have is roads
Howdy, JMC
hi crossy
i is being my own IT person. . . which means i am in real trouble. . . haha
The letter writing brought to my mind a bit of a poem I wrote year before last. i was experimenting with stream of consciousness stuff at the time and this is one of my early attempts I will share with my babble buds;)...
Thirty-Three years gone, and the classes begin again. I remember… Long hand for the boy’s who were too cool, Palmer script for the girls who did not care about that— Matter’s not anymore--not now… The clatter of keyboards drowns out all. The imperial measure is unknown to them--I sit and smile ruefully. I try the old longhand--and fail The skill is lost to me… Sadly, I bend my head and hit the keys, And mourn for what I have lost.
*grabs a glass of sherry to listen to poetry*
of course babble formats it as it will
not too bad formating
it is proper format on the word page
but you get the gist
keyboards are faster than long hand anyway
I recall some wrote with a leftward slant and others to the right
i deliberately didn't take typing in high school lest i got stuck as a secretary. . .
guys didnt have to worry about that
I took a keyboarding class in 1980. All i can remember of it was that I hated it;)
i just learned by doing it over and over and over. . .
lol. i now two-finger type at 80 wpm:)
. . .and over and over
give or take
i am more traditional in my typing. . . use all my fingers but only the right hand shift key
are there any ja words?
i haven't found one. . . let me look. . .
ja4/9
hmm ok thanks
yw
you do know about lickety, yes?
yes but I don't like using it.
okay i am not around much anymore and wanted to be sure. . . i understand. . . don't use it much myself
I avoid Lickety until I am tearing my hair out over the last dozen words or so:)
*waves at jshapiro*
yes, it is nice to see you JMC:)
haha its been a while since i saw the last dozen words or so. . . working working working. . . .
same here cross, only as a a last resort
depends on my mood. . . .
If you really want to be numbed by my attempts at poetry. I have a dozen or so deposited on poetry.com:)
trying to get me to drink?
and an excerpt of my novel-in-progress at authonomy.com
You better go into it three sheets to the wind
"You dun stomped on my heart and you mashed that sucker flat. You just sorta stomped on my *****."
lol, Douglas
It's the only song I know with that word
i must say i was surprised the other day watching tc and some show with the big guy "hero" and reciting Invictus. . .
I will call my collection "Poetry for the Alcoholicly Embalmed"
I love Invictus
i hated it as i was required to memorize it for school. . .
I should tattoo it on my forearm...
Timothy McVeigh ruined that poem for me by reciting it shortly before his execution
but i do get the underlying thought. . .
Well, I did not watch him shuffle off the mortal coil, so the poem still works for me
ick! I was unaware. . . if i liked it i wouldn't now. . .
he te**ed my opposition to the death penalty. . .
but it would have been better for him to be jailed forever and worn down rather than dying thinking he was a hero and a martyr
okay i am off to do some more work on my computer. . . nice talking with you guys. . .
We let our cons rots for eternity here;)
though some you want to bury in the ground
depending on the crime, some of them you can just dump into general population, and the problem takes care of itself:)
st 6/18, second one, after the cooking direction, pls
sounds like it is Italian for the following word
ty bugsaw
ty and fw
others st 7 words also sound like the same thing'
how are you crossy? we haven't talked in a bit
how many feet of snow do you have?
Hwdy, bugsaw. In the last week we have lost 50% of our snow, but got 5 inches of wet heavy stuff yesterday
We are still getting down below freezing at night but hitting 3-4C in the day
Thanks crossy. Back here the news makes it sound like nothing ever melts so I keep visualizing about 18 feet on the ground and more in the piles
The 2 foot base on the hill is still pretty much in place, because they stockpile snow mounds to keep the runs nice, but it things continue I think there will be 2 weeks or so left of skiing
We are more than ready for Spring
There is still lots of snow on the sides of the roads, but the roads themselves are clear for the most part now
our hill only had about one week of really good skiing this year. we will have trouble this summer for sure
Qw had nice suny day today:)
sunny
we
ah. glad the roads are clear. I hate driving on ice
Almost bed time. My typing is deteriorating rapidly:)
I just finished so before we go, do you, or anyone here, need a bad clue or two?
We got lots of snow overall and the water tables should be fine. they had their turn skiing. Now it is time for hiking and camping, and kayaking!
I am ok for now bugsaw. i will dig at the grid for a bit more before bed.
ok. off on a food hunt
greetings my fellow addicts!
Hello , Gwen !
oh, thank goodness, you are not *all* lurkers LOL
I truly think it is quiet tonight.
I do lurk, but usually with chat closed, so not really lurking :-)
i have been known to do that, especially when i have only a few minutes to tackle a grid
nbt
that was fast :-) I have 15 words left and then off to watch a movie with hubby. I don't know what he's chosen for tonight....a surprise, I guess !!
here's hoping it's not a baseball movie! 8 - )
:-)
....and done for today. Good luck with the grid, Gwen.
