Hey Liz.. is GR on vacation? she's been MIA
She's in hospital - high fever. Haven't heard much. Sent her a text and email but nothing. Sprite emailed her hubby and that info was from him.
oh.. an infection?
But Sprite's been away - comes back today and will hopefully have more info.
They didn't know why her temp was so high.
high fevers are scary
I hope she's OK - she's so lovely. You know I met her 2 weeks ago?
although I tend to be hot-blooded myself
didn't know that Liz, how nice to have met her
That's the Greek in you coming out!
I didn't know that.. that's great. Love meeting babble people
:D
I went to Melbourne for 4 days and we met up for lunch on the Friday.
nice
lovely Liz
brb.. doggy wants to go out.
It was nice - her hubby's nice too and seemed to get on well with mine.
You and Rolin blew me away the other day
Sorry about that! It's quite funny though. At times we chat and my step-son's daughter too!
step-son's girlfriend - no idea why i said daughter!
fw and off to bed, goodnight all
Congrats, Flosey.
Night flosey
Also Rolin's daughter occasionally plays.
That's my hubby's daughter too!
Wow
Easy when you know!
could someone clue the as7 please
as7 compound word A donkey's ***+ salary
thanks
yw
Evening/morning, all! Been quite a long time since I've been in the grid. Hope to be here more often now that my daughter is graduating high school in 3 weeks and is going off to college in the fall. Just finished today's grid. Felt like a doozey since I'm rusty! Have fun! Hope to talk to most of you soon! Happy Babbling!
i
oops, that's just my ego talking ! Gone again.;)
Good morning, everybody:)
Morning
Howdy, Sukee
Hi crossy.
Have you heard any more about Rose?
No, I have not. Only discovered this morning that she was admitted to hospital with a high fever, other than that I do not know how she is faring.
That is what i just read.
so sorry about Rose :-(
hi Une.
hey :-)
Hopefully we can find out more about what is going on and are able to send her prayers and well-wishes to help speed her recovery.
Howdy, Une
howdy, crossy :-)
Brb. Must go peel some tatties. making my home-made potato pancakes this morning :)
yum!!
Send some over :)
<<<<<<<< this will be my passenger for a couple of hours this morning -- Sammie, rescued female Rottie puppy :-)
Aww, so cute.
i agree!!
good morning friends. so sorry to read rose is having a concern....and une, that pup is adorable!!! feel free to drive her over her!
must get crackin' -- will be back later today :-)
Where do you have to drive her to?
hey trif! :-)
Hi Trif.
she's riding from Marshall TX to a long-term foster in Signal Mtn, TN -- my part of her journey is 2 hours this morning -- later, all!
See you.
drive carefully!
I'm off to make breakfast too.
There we go:) I find that 5 pounds of taters tend to make 9 good-sized tater pancakes:)
Yummy.
And crossy, just who gets to eat 9 good sized tater pancakes? #breakfastmooching
Let's get to Ontario, JBsAnno!
Totally with you, Scrabs. Shotgun!
RO4/5 TRIP!
Whew, almost had to make a detour to the PB...
Those must be some jumbo sized pancakes if 5 pounds of potatoes only makes 9
They probably come with a side of beef, Molly. The WHOLE side of beef.
Bacon. Crossy is Bacon Boy.
Smack my head. Of course. BACON. What was I thinking?
someone said bacon....
There he is. Thought he ran away once we planned to show up.
20 pounds of bacon to go with your 5 pounds of potatoes.
each pancake is about 5 inches in diameter by half inch thick--give or take
<worried look> do you think that's enough, Scrabbler?
so yesterday i dislocated my toe, and tore ligaments in it.. hurt so bad.. spent 3 hrs in er , having xrays and screaming while they did them. moving the toe every which way.. still in pain today... ouch. it hurts
ONLY 20 pounds? :(
poor ivesy:(
here, have a tater pancake--it helps;)
when will i learn not to go barefoot around the house..
So sorry, ivesy. Hope you have some good pain killers on board!
Crossy, you forgot the bacon!
Actually got ten out of this batch, so two per person with some scrambled cheesy eggs and a few rashers of bacon and yer all set;)
no pain pills.. just motrin.. i want pills!! cept they make me loopy (ier)
oh that sounds so good crossy.. hmmm
Well, we're here to help you take your mind of your toe.
lol.. good.. ty
*off*
Yes, eat my brekkies and the sound of your arteries clogging will take your mind off of your toe:)
will take my lipitor first then..
Yes, plan ahead is my breakfast motto as well:)
and a bracing cuppa tea. I recommend a good darjeeling.
i need tim hortons to deliver.....
i tried to start a religion around the concept of the epic breakfast, but nobody showed up for morning services--everybody was at home making eggs:(
At least everyone would have had their own robe :)
Ice and elevation, ivesy. OUCH! Poor you.
Not a coffee fiend, but i will take a drop of your tea, JBsanno..
I have broken toes many times, ivesy, and I feel your pain:(
Have a whole pot, and welcome, Crossy!
Not much to do about them but wait it out
Which toe, ivesy?
Tell all, ivesy. <waits with fresh pot of tea to share>
little toe..scrab..was just hangin there. they popped it back it . but freaking thng hurts like hell..
I keep a special wide sandal the hospital gave me years ago to use every time I bust something up on my feet. Can even adjust the velcro straps to fit a foot cast in the thing
i am surprised they didnt give me one crossy..
Wow, crossy, what do you have against your feet?
Ouchies, ivesy, just ouchies!
I was in construction for a time, and one day I did not wear my steel-toed boots, and of course that was the day i dropped a 10 inch cinder block on my foot...
This chog is getting painful!
omg.. now that would hurt..
Then later I was doing work site clean-up and again I was not wearing my boots. it was early winter and I went to kick a bit of garbage on the ground in preparation to pick it up, only to discover that it was firmly frozen into the ground:(
ivesy, do you have someone there to wait on you hand and...foot? I hope so!
yes, ivesy, someone must cater 3 meals a day to you:) is all p-art of the recovery:)
With the same previously smashed foot, crossy? Been there, done that!
No, the other foot:(
Double ouchies!
no ..all by my lonesome..sigh. i will manage.. one of my bestest friend stayed with me at er.. made me laugh esp when she almost passed out when they put the needle in lol
So, I decided to change careers and get into a business that was less painful, and chose the petroleum business--boy was I wrong!
Ouch, ouch, ouch.
Ouch, ouch, ouch.
Did you kick the gas pumps, too?
convo.. almost as painful as this grid..:(
No, just trying to earn a living buying and selling gas and propane was the painful part
*Sets Ivesy up with a foot stool and a bottle of Irish Whiskey.
A good whiskey.. much better than motrin
My laughing out loud is disturbing my cat's second morning pre-nap snooze.
pain, what pain? as i sip the whiskey
and i am a very silly drunk lol
Now make some words, ivesy!
A nice mulled whiskey threetimes a day or as needed-- the perfect RX
I say if they won't give you decent pain medication, self medicate at will
Ivesy, I'll take a silly drunk over a maudlin drunk any day
i love the as 7 word.. thats what the kind of money i make at the library
Sounds like my income as well
LOL, thanks for the clue, ivesy. I
I'm getting the feline hairy eyeball again.
I tried a ridiculous word for as7 and it worked!
I tried a ridiculous word for as7 and it worked!
well am going to comfort myself with a choc.donut... will make up an explantion for my dr. when time comes and my sugar is sky high...food over pain..anytime
I got that at 04:45 this morning. I woke up to a cat sitting on my stomach and looking directly into my eyes.
Ridiculous words often work in Babble grids
At least mine have learned that causes a mysterious blanket quake under their feet that removes them several feet from me.
hi all, have been looking for the as7 you found, Scrabbs.. no luck.. can you clue it?
back end and what you earn
fw
tyvm mixi, and congrats!
yvw
Funny word, isn't it, Aloy? Hi Mixi.
really is! can't remember seeing it before
hi scrabbler.
Damn, Bunny Remy was just nibbling on my laptop cord.
oh oh
I hope Bunny Remy doesn't electrocute himself
Some wires are exposed but charging is still going on, I think. Remy is fine. Little rascal!
g'morning babblers! na 5/10?
na 5/10 na + mix up what we breathe
ty LuvW, missed that one
ty LWG. i woudnt have gotten that
yw, just another odd Babble word-LOL
Enjoy your Sunday everyone.. must scoot, ciao for now
this grid doesn't seem to easy this time
Scrabby, If your bunnies have a nasty habit of chewing wires, you can go to any auto parts store and ask for wire harness tubing. it is cheap to buy, and is sold by the foot. it is basically 1/2 inch to 1 inch plastic corrugated tubing with a slit on one side. You just measure the length of the wire you wish to protect, cut the desired length, and slide the wires into the pre-made slit. No more fried rabbits!
No, it is not a fun grid at all.
scrab only good thing about it for me is I thought it was going to be much smaller lol
I covered the chewed cord with electrical tape. I do have cord protectors, but I should have watched him more carefully. He has never chewed the cord here before but had hoppped up on the couch next to me.
Naughty bunny!
I have lost many alarm clocks and cell phone chargers to my rabbits over the years. Yes, naughty bunnies.
F stats please?
fe 5/18
The tubing is excellent for long coaxial or cat 5 cable:)
I guessed at it and got it ty scrab for the stats
Though not much cat 5 laying around anymore with everyone using wi-fi... too bad they could not make it so wi-fi would give us a nice even tan at the same time:)
n stats please?
na 5/12 and na5/10 are two
na4/4 is the 3rd
I am going to replace the tires on my old mountain bike, Crossy, and put on all-terrain tires for easier biking on roads.
ah na 4 a babblet
I have seen those big, tat AT tires , scrabby. they look wild!
fat*
Things look almost fat enough to need power steering!
clue please?
n + three vowels...
But at our age some extra cushion to absorb shock for the tushie is a good thing.
pen oops sorry I need a clue for the o on the 4th column?
od + fashion is st***.....
I would love to buy a "fat bike" but must save up some money for one of those. My other thought is to get a 29 inch tire mountain bike. For now I will fix up my iriginal mountain bike from 1991.
shorten it for another two words...
Good mornign, all!
hi...
I have been sidelined for a bit. My poor knees are a misery. Doc diagnosed me with bursitis a year ago, and just said " Lose weight, exercise more" I have lost 20 pounds and hike when i can, but the things are killin me;(
I have seen guys riding the fat bikes here at the park--winter and non-winter. 4 inch wide tires need just 8-10 psi of tire pressure.
Oops. Hubby's ready to go to breakfast. Unprecedented speed for him. Later!
Hi Judi
ty
yup, rock crawler tyres indeed!
clue for the 7 please for nbs and I have nbt
as 7 what a prostitute earns:)) been wanting to clue that all day;)
could not resist
cross lol I got it GRREAT CLUE
nbt and nbs
:)
I am out of here poof
Hahaha, Crossy. Great clue.
Crude, but whatever works i always say:)
i am done... :oD
Yay, Penquis. I need 2 words to pass halfway and be done.
Done. My version of done. Now, it's time to enjoy this beautiful day.
Could I get a clue for do6, please?
the quantity of medicine prescribed
i am heading out....bye all!
sorry tceicher didn't get it from that clue?
still need do6, please?
it rhymes with dotage
do + wise person
or do + consonant + how old you are
It actually is dotage, just change one letter
do+herb
perfect thanks
s7, please?
There is no s7
sorry I meant as7?
... pay a donkey
Donkey + to earn money.
got it thanks
burrobucks
damn it
close, ruru:)
ty for the as 7. I'll have to see what it means as it sure sounds funny
No definition
... I'll bet it's a variation on the word with a "u" instead of the "w"
I guess too
and now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!! props to this company for such an amazing looking invention. If I was stuck in a chair I know i would want one of these!! http://www.rollick.biz/
make sure you click the tab to translate the page
bbl
... yes 90% and I was going to stop at two thirds ... later for the list ... luck to all ... and a sunny afternoon too
Howdy, again!
This grid is confounding
how was brekkie judi?
Just fine, Ru.
Cat is all hopped up on cat nip. Little junkie.
Did the doggy have brekki too? If so goodie oodie.
Just the humans had breakfast. Then we went to the farmers market and grabbed some crops.
my doggy eats food.. nothin' fancy here
leather crops?
oh.. food
Foodie for the doggy. Ooo. Maybe there will be prezzies later.
Ha! No leather goods. That would be cruel. *rolls eyes*
Kind of early for local crops, isn't it?
*note to self: cancel all Judi's Sunday's fun plans*
Nah. Lots of lettuce, herbs, asaragus, strawberries. And, God forbid, kale.
It must be coming from southern places then.
Phhfth. I have no fun plans today. Have to do all the housework I couldn't do yesterday because I was wasting my life trying to sell crap at the yard sale.
A lot of it is from Southern Maryland at this time of year.
I'm going to a BBQ
:D
Everyone I know who has tried a yard sale does it once and then says "never again"
Is that you in your icon pic, Ru?
yep.. in the first grade I think
Beaver Cleaver!
sorta
The elders were swooning over it earlier.
the bowtie always gets the ladies
une thought I looked a little like Ted Bundy :D
Yet, if you wore one now, they would back away slowly, avoiding eye contact.
depends on where I wear it Molly :D
Yikes. The Beav is a much better comparison then.
I"ll go with the Beaves
My brother's name isn't Wally though
I can see the young Ted Bundy thing
the smirk.. probably huh?
No Wally for you and definitely no June.
nope
Let's hope Ruru isn't brining any small animals to the BBQ,.
your icon looks like the cover of a Watchtower magazine molly
no animals.. it's a Berkeley barbq.. so likely tofu
(hoping for bbq chicken)
Whee. Bean burgers and all the kale you can eat.
Lost episode of Leave It To Beaver: The Beav makes Catalonian Fire Roasted Rib Rack for dinner.
lol.. god I hope not judi :D
Only if Michelle Obama is hosting.
It might just be me.. but kale is a little tough to cook
Yes, I'm going for the warm fuzzy icons now to keep the bitch factor at Def Con 5
Kale is excellent food... for goats.
oh.. good move ms Molly
I tried to add Dinosaur Kale to my diet once.. but the shit is impossible to cook
Don't forget the quinoa. There should be lots of that too.
Quinoa is toooooo messy
gilled veggie wraps with hummus
that's a possibility today TO
Off I go to do said evil housework. Pray for my eternal salvation. See y'all tomorrow! *POOF*
bye
good morning everyone - woke up to lovely rain this am -- stopped about 2 hours later but remains overcast so hopefully it will have time to soak in
*sets up praying altar for Judi*
All the food bandwagon people are now raving about mashed cauliflower
Better stop raining soon nan
we finally had a good shower last night, but it also dampened my enthusiasm to go out.
that sounds horrible too molly
why ruru? --- we really need it -- everything is so dry
we needed it , its been so long. oh yes, auliflwer everywhere. cauliflower pizza crust.
I'm coming to Canada in a couple weeks
I want sunshine
*ordering it now*
I'm sure all the people who come to your barbecue shop at Whole Foods...now being referred to as "Whole Paycheck" : D
oh but molly, they are launching a chain of reduced priced stores so the common folk can afford to eat healthy food.
it will only take half a paycheck.
if you're going to th islands or Vancouver you can get any kind of weather at this time of year, but will keep my fingers crossed for you.
thanks nan
I do shop at Whole Foods once a week and IT IS EXPENSIVE
especially their cheese section.. the prices are outrageous
chains are offering more options esp with meat now. we are fortunate to have many local farms for meat and dairy and produce. starting to produce nowl
a farm up the road makes its own bacon
<---off of bacon now
just too unhealthy..I do love it though
about 4 miles away, the township has leased land to beef farmer to preserve it. there is a csa a mile away but too much for one person, especially a pocky eater.
Bacon once in a while isn't going to hurt anyone
oh my. pIcky
what's a CSA?
i believe in moderation if i like something. i cant think of anything i like that i would swear off.
I was eating bacon and eggs every weekend for a while molly.. too much
The best way to do those food co-ops is to go in with one or two people.
community supported agriculture. i can go help out and they would give me a small offering
oh.. never heard of those here.. but I saw some in Idaho once
here we have CSCJ's
i will not eat many of the vegetables they would give to me.
such as?
but i am much better than the corn potatoes peas kid of the past
Well like you said, it is not for picky eaters. Or for people who don't like to freeze food.
I freeze stock and pasta sauce.. that's about it
greens, chard, spinach. spinach is ok in salad, but how much can one person eat? greens are suddenly disagreeing with me. i would not eat beets and cauliflower needs too much embellishment. not keen on beans either.
I have a friend who won't eat frozen anything. She keeps bags of peas (for sprains) and Popsicles in her freezer.
And sometimes Vodka.
oh Popsicles I have too
i think frozen can be better. follows the eat in season thing.
I'm with you on that one TO.. a little spinach in a salad is fine.. but cooked ugh
oooh,fudgicles. guilty pleasure.
I can't eat ice cream on a stick.
I almost bought some ice cream yesterday and forced myself to keep walking
i just took another quiz that confirms i am what science calls a supertaster. strong tastes are repugnant, as are fatty foods.
I'm guessing TO's Mom had a lot of baby food spat back at her. : D
LOL
:D
It's still calling you...can you hear it? Ruuuuuu....come back...Ruuuuu...it's us...Ben and Jerry....
not keen on ice cream. it's that fat tastes bad thing. prefer sherbet and italian ice.
that's so funny molly.. that is soooo true
Ru is trying to get in shape so he can wow all the Babble women in Canada. : P
not really
it's just my metabolism has really changed in the last year or so
I've been the same weight for 30 years and all the sudden I gained five pounds
it's called ageing, ru -- and it doesn't get any better!
oh god.. thanks for the support nan :D
Seriously Nan. And Ru, be glad you are not a woman. Once the estrogen level drops after menopause, the metabolism gets practically dormant.
are you coming to the Okanagan or are you just visiting the lower mainland?
I'm going to the islands in the Vancouver area
too bad -- we could have taken you on some wine tasting tours. If you are trying any BC wines, don't get anything other than those with a VQA designation --- the y are the ones from the smaller estate wineries, and are better than the others.
My hubby doesn't care for any of the local reds but there are some good whites out there.
I'm hoping to ride a bike around a bit.. and do a little hiking
not really going to do the wine thing...
I find the area incredibly beautiful
Vancouver Island is gorgeous
to be that is
the coast isn't really wine country though -- you have to come to the Okanagan for that
time to get moving. happy babbling.
I will someday.. interested in that area
later TO
anyone have any O words?
bye T O
like id4/7 jj and you are well today?
I'm fine thanks, how about you
i am well, later,
thanks and bye
like the TV show going off the air thankfully American od4 :D
it's rockabilly sunday, chores must be done so i am free to go.
Amen. Who knew that show would last soooo long.
it's pretty awful.. Harry Connick Junior makes SImon Cowel seem like a genius
and Jennifer Lopez really makes me ill
not as bad as dancing with the stars --- can't stand bruno
The thing that gets me about those show is that they are so swayed by the popular vote. Not really based on talent, just how many call in fans you have.
very true, molly
it's always (or usually) the handsome white guy.. instead of other singers with more talent (be they black, Gay, or a female).. that gets the popular vote... the black guy this year should have won
who did win? - quit watching when that long-haired kid with the hat didn't get dumped
another nobody nan.. I don't know the names
in Idol's defense they did discover Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood though
I like the voice a lot better, but even it is getting tired
I think these talent shows have a certain shelf life before it's too repetitious
I'd like the Voice except for that Adam Levine.. ugh what a creep
can't watch that show
I thought Britain's got talent was good -- the brits seemed to unearth some good talent and they aren't so concerned with how the contestants look.
yes.. .saw some of those too.. I like James Arthur that they found
I have to go shopping to make my dish for the BBQ.. see you guys at the flip.
can't say that Adam is a favourite, but he is better than some of the women they get on the panel -- especially the one that couldn't get past the outfits people were wearing to see or hear anything else -- bimbo personified
bye ru
anyone remember which show Howard Sterne was judging? I thought he was a jerk on the radio but was surprised to find that I liked him on the talent show -- didn't lead the contestants on telling them how wonderful they were when they were dreadful.
I think it was America's Got Talent, nan.
hi mimi
Hello! Only here for a couple of minutes while I wait for tech support for my work site....ugh...tons of work to do and now I'll have to work into the night.
This is a nasty little grid!
that's not good -- what do you do?
Radiology transcription. I work at home, thankfully. Pretty much make my own hours so I like that after 40 years of punching a time clock!
nice to be able to set your own hours
must be on my way-- s-i-l's birthday today and we need to phone. Hagd everyone
If I wake up at 3 in the morning and can't go back to sleep I can work so that the next day I finish early. It's great. Of course, I work as an independent contractor so no paid sick days and such but it's worth it.
Bye, nan! I'm leaving, too. HATE this grid.
clue for the O?
do you have the id4/7 of the king?
yes
ty got it
od5 anagram of holmes author arthur conan *****
ty dan - blacked it out :)
44 left - that's all for me for awhile.
Wow, nice picture of the Princess Party.
thanks Molly - the face painter lady was awesome
ty for od5, dan
And a perfect picture of Princess2bit:))
firewords! tx bookwomen and all cluers. as7/52 gay hooker's earnings was my last :p
hello 73 to go
Only 19 left, and I haven't found a animal yet. What a sad grid.
Howdy, Harp:)
hi crossy
Oh...no critters for Harp...alert the Grid Gods...
morning all
there is some ass in the grid though molly
isn't an ass an animal?
yes
and a republican too
hah
going to politics right out of the gate?
no.. just political observations
ah. right. honestly forgot about the whole donkey/elephant thing... perhaps I need to relearn how to brain.
well.. the donkey is really democratic.. but republicans are all about ass
heh. it's not that democrats don't like ass, it's just that they're not as conflicted about it/concerned with hiding it
except under desks I guess
well, yeah. that's just weird. it's much more comfortable on the desk instead of under it.
truly.. talk about a presidency that would bring one to one's knees
Well yeah but I think Harp missed the ass
I miss the ass too
*Sniff*
*pulls tissues out of box*
*doesn't trust tissues from ruru*
LOL
Well, maybe only fluffy, cutsie animals are noticed. Poor ass.
What are you making for the barbecue? Inquiring minds want to know. : P
you? you want to know?
Yes, I'm intrigued as to what kind of dish you bring to an outdoor cooking event. (Other than the saucy dish on your arm)
I made a corn/green bean/jicama, pepper salad with fresh cilantro and a mustard/vinaigrette.. with fresh Mozzerella di Buffalo ... no saucy dish yet..
Ooo la la. Mayhap there will be a saucy dish there waiting to meet you. : D
it's really colorful and fresh tasting
That'd be nice...I'm game
Mrs. Smith's potato salad will pale in comparison.
*puts on bowtie*
actually potato salad sounds kinda good
I like the traditional barbecue foods. Potato salad, cole slaw, etc.
I thought about making a coleslaw salad..but I really don't want to do the mayonnaise thng
it's Berkeley after all
Yes, they would probably frown on a mayonnaise salad unless the mayonnaise was made from eggs that came from free range, happily raised chickens.
yeah.. but you have to beat eggs to make mayonnaise.. and the only thing that gets beaten in Berkeley are protesters
I'd be more worried about it going bad in the heat and poisoning everyone.
it's kinda cool and slightly overcast today jes
ah. it's hot and muggy here.
which begs the vet question.. how do you know if a chicken is happy
you ask them. they'll tell you :)
just ask the animal psychic down the street.
would they think I'm a dumb cluck?
possibly
Anyone who runs a decent barbecue doesn't leave mayonnaise based dishes out long enough to poison people.
My favorite BBQ in SF is Do-City..
I'm the only white person in there when I go however
That is how you know it's a good barbecue place. : D
I have to wear my baseball cap backwards there :D
well.. off to the Q.. later taters
have fun
hi .... if there is anyone about ... just finished, but will stay and help, if I can.
do 6/27, pls
do6 .... what the doctor gives you on prescription.
ty mo
yw.
can I help anymore before I go?
good luck everyone and sleep soundly. Byeee ...
Later taters, make sure you feed your doggy a good brekkie. Prob, no maybe def will. If not, a good din-din. Then maybe you will watch a movie that features boobies.
Boobies?
HI babblers, back from CT--had a great weekend. Need a clue for as7, please
Hi Annie, just getting started also.
hi hego :)
What a donkey earns
thanks, jaxx and hello
Hi Jaxx
Hi, Annie and Hego.
jaxx, great clue
hego how is that clematis doing? We thought uor 'The president' had died but it is blooming well. In both senses
never saw that one before
Jaxx, so funny, I thought of you today whenI looked at it.
looked it up--no definition
It's beautiful. Just bloomed today.
going to start dinner...bye
Funny spelling usually spelled with the donkey + fifth vowel and how many years you have been alive.
Love my clematis.
The winter this year has suited all the flowering plants. the trees are loaded with blossom much larger than usual and the large flowered clematis, like the President, are spectacular
Mine looks awesome!
The Montana has invaded next door's trees and the Nelly Moser is trying to take over the crab apple tree. The nelly Moser is over 30 years old and still going strong
Will they damage the trees?
We have a double one called Josephine but it seems to struggle. Yet at a place I stay in Wiltshire there is one that is loaded with all these double pink flowers.
No. They just scramble over them. if you add the nelly Moser to an already loaded with blossom weeping crab apple tree then the result is amazing
sounds fabulous
The birds are a little put out because the feeders we hang on the tree in Winter gets hidden at this time of year.
Have you tried any of the scented ones?
Not yet
I am thinking about it. my husband is in hanging basket and pot mode at the moment. Dozens of little plants all waiting to be put in the baskets. Even the bath has its share of plants being watered en masse.
Good for him!
he finds it easier to do pots as he has a bad back. he just doesn't know when to stop.
You'll be buried in pots!
The new wall has pots all along it. there are pouches under the porch roof and pots in the garden full of Dahlias, the new passion.
I stopped doing pots a couple of years ago. Too much watering needed.
And we travel in summer.
I think he likes the solitude and sound of running water when he waters them.
peaceful
I am sure it is a substitute for his fishing days when he used to be under the stars all on his own in his boat. he caught a mother dolphin and her calf one time. it wasn't so peaceful then
oh, my!
Ruined his nets as he had to cut them out. On top of that he has never learned to swim. Said his thigh boots would fill up and drown him before he could swim away.
true!
I know, but he could have tried to learn. When he was out at sea my heart was in my mouth until he came home.
I never let my husband go out alone.
and for some reason, he listened.
Does he fish then?
not anymore.
Was he a deep sea man or an inshore man

Good Evening, Everyone. how are you all tonight?
hi...fine here....finished this morning....
I'm didn't start until about an hour ago; 1 away from half way through,
cool...
50 left now. How are you doing lately, pen? (I haven't been here for over a week; I was on steriods for allergies & had no patients
patience, I meant!
doing ok, thanks...feeling better now?
well, I'm past the severe witchy PMS/jittery, one-last-nerve bit; but the allergies are still here. (DH had a relapse in his MS; so he was on them too. It's been a "fun" household here) ;-/
Beautiful avatar, BTW
bummer....
ty.....a pic i took in the Outer Banks at sunrise when i was there a few weeks ago....
has you harbor thawed out yet?
yes, all thawed...the boats are returning....
:-)
good. It's still unseasonally cool here; but we finally have some good rain this past week, so things whould be back to normal weather soon enough
a bit cool here, too....haven't been able to sit out and read yet...
same here. I did get some things planted yesterday (& picked some morels in our yard!); but too cool to just sit down and relax yet
I can't go pick morals in my yard. I have no morals
I've gotten to 41 words left; might have to revert to Lickety now.
Wrong spelling ruru (although - it IS you who said that!) ;-)
cute pic, ru....is that you?
We just had a huge crash out in our yard; (we have quite a storm blowing through right now) so I went out to see what it was and didn't find anything out of place. Should be interesting to see what it was in the morning though
calm weather here...
It's been pretty wild all day here. It started out about 60 degrees with 80% humidity; then got up to 80 for the temp; had a short burst of hail (less than 2 minutesof it); some rain, lots of wind, & it's now 50 degrees , windy & rainy
gain
oops!
wow, nef....
don't worry, but you if you can find a word I don't have that would be nice.
Yeah, Minnesota's "theater of seasons" is trying to fit it all in 1 day I think
lol, Nef! I guess my dog, Blanche, wanted in on the fun.
what kind of dog is she?
Yep. That is me penq
I have no idea what you look like in real life, ru; but you were a cute kid! :-)
She is a chihuahua + diva. lol
Not so cute anymore. :D
well i like the pic...
oh, well, guru; I doubt if any of us are as cute as we were as kids.
ruru! (Darn spellcheck!)
We had a series of chihuahuas when I was a kid & DH also had a chihuahua when he was young. None of them were tiny or cuddly though. I think the 4 we had were all the runts of the litters and not very bright either.
She is a pear-shaped (which is not the most desired type) and was a stray. She has trust issues but has become a cuddle bug after 2 years of owning me.
heading to bed....g'nite all!
okay, I had to go check out what a pear shaped chihuahua was.
Niters penq! Sleep well!
Dang; there was another crash outside; so I had to check again. still can't see what sounds like a big piece of metal (as in the top of the grill, maybe?) banging away out there. And once again, everything looks okay again....
good night, Nef. I hope all is well outside.
Niters Mag. Sleep well (I'm staying up ntil this blows over)
you still there, Nef? Nice to see you.
Hi Round Barn. How are you doing tonight?
took supper to John and Peg's, and saw Helen Mirrin's first movie--Age of
Innocense?
cosent. Megan's been here a month working with me, left Wednesday. This Vol 4 is a millstone. I think it will be done in the fall. I am sorry you and Frank are both having troubles.
oh
li ost what I was typing--Megan here for a mionth helping me with the book, it is a real millstone at this point--neart the end. she's gone now. I am sorry you and frank are both having troubles.
Well, that's how it goes some times; isn't it/ I know that we are (all in all) pretty lucky; but there are times when you just go "Again???"
I'm glad that Megan could help you for that time. What is the millstone part? Is it just too much to sort through everything or what?
yeah. I miss having family here. Will go on a 3 day canoe trip on the Wis rivcer with Elle in June--postponed from last year on acct of high water. I want to get to Mlps, maybe in the fall. The chapters I'm working on with my cousin aren't quite to his liking yet--it is ticklish biz to write abt relatives!
Vol 4 has shorter text, more room for addenda. But with the other 3, I could keep shioving things ahead--now I'm at the end and there's a big snowbank that has been shoved ahead and I have to sort it--if you follow my metaphor!
I bet it is! Especially if writing about relatives who are a bit -- different, maybe?
yes, I understand what you're saying I think
Maybe ALL of it doesn't have to be included?
as long as they don't read it--but I cherish Jerry, and his dad behaved badly in the part I have to write about and so I have to write it with the most compassion and understanding--fortunaltely Trever suceeded in his won biz, and it would have been a disater if he'd come to be management on the farm. Jerry says that. But I want to do it as carefully as I can for Jerry--for us all, really--though I hate to pass up a sentece like Grampa's to Trev, "I would have burned your letter except there are things I need to respond to . . .
LOL! Reading your other books, I've come to like your Grampa! He's got spunk! :-D
It really has to go in, Estate, Being Fair to his Sons, etc--you'll see when you get vol 4--but I keep sending versions to Jerry! Megan and I
M and I worked mostly on pix.
In a way, would Jerry be interested in writing parts of it from his perspective? (It might take some pressure off of you & also enlighten what was going on from a different view)
Maybe his Dad justified to him why and what he was doing?
Also it is hard to wrote about the future of ag, in my first part--for it seems pretty bleak to me--ag is what we depend on, and the population is heading to over 9 billion by 1935--and we chew up arable land and kill our oceans--I try to have hope
We ARE writing it from his perspective--in the chapter that focuses on his dad. Wwhen I get to Estate, I have Jackie trying to untangle reasons and motives, I suppose I'll have to pass that one by him too.
I hear you on that part! My friend Karin & I were talking about that yesterday (she & I have been firends since we were 13; she grew up on a farm Up North & I was the town kid)..
Is Jerry a good writer?
the bottom line is that Gramp sold Ron the milk business, GAVE Trev the Hill Farm, then Trev turned around and sold the Hill farm unexpectedly (to fund his new business) and Dad had to quick buy the Hill farm for we needed it! You will see how adroitly I clothe all this. (I was home at the moment of drama--knowing the Hill Farm was for sale, and dad and Gramp figuring out how they could buy it--
EWE talk and talk and talk and then I write it.
Oh Wow! So that would be tricky to write about...
We, that is. Isn't ruru cute. He's one of my favorites. I tune in to Babbly to catch any interesting conversation. And to watch out for you. I don't play much.
And I bet Jerry wants to make sure that his dad is shown in the best light too
and I have my opinions on people, and feel sorry for their illnesses, but don't come out of lurking often.
I haven't played too much lately because of fatigue. I'm allergic to cats; and while I could put up with the 1 we inherited when Frank's Aunt died; we've had my daughter's cat here since mid March & she's a Manx. I guess they have an extra coat; and we use a special brush for her (a fulminator) but I swear we take off a second cat every other day
jerry is a serious historian--he wants it RIGHT--but he has helped me see his father's frame of mine, that Trev was desperate during the depression--and it looked like Ron had it ALL--(false conclusion) anyway, it's tricky which we both realize. Grampa equates in a li ong letter to Ron that he couldn't help T except with money, wheras Ron had Opportunity--I have quite a litany of the Opportunities Ron had (Grampa was an orator on occasion--this occasion
Our daughter is house hunting (but to me she's very slow about finding one!); and she forgets that Mom & Dad have a lot going on too
Doesn't it always look lop-sided when it comes to inheritances?
I bet cats had to develop thick coats on the Isle of Manx!
I'm glad that Jerry is wanting to get it right with you.
My parents handled it very very well. All four of us kids wee happy with the outcome. Our lawyer congratulated us (he just died, my lawyer--we were toddlers together.
Actually, she's a sweet (but needy) cat; and her fur is very fine and soft & silky. But there is just so much of it!
Well, when my dad died, we didn't expect anything; & we didn't get anything. When my Aunt that raised me died, everything went to her daughter (which is fair; & also fine with me). And when Frank's Aunt died; it all came here because the 2 aunts lived with his Mom & Grandma & him; they had never married. And I'm still trying to get some stuff sorted out.
I think I'll go to bed, Nef, so I can get in a good day tomorrow. Oh, iesterday I lost a work day by reading a book--the one the Harry Potter author has written under a pseudonym. Cucoo's call, or something. It was pretty good but I have to stay away rom fiction except fiction I know--like rereading Jane Austen--or I lose work time. Love to you and Franl. and good night.
Good Night, RB. Nice catching up with you! (ANd I got firworks too!)
Your inheritances sound complicated! We can all write a book. Anonymously of course. Me--I got 38 words. I'm not v good at babble--I get the obvious words, and have fun figuring clues from choggers. Good night.
Take Care of yourself! Good Night!
Does anyone need any clues at this point of the night?
okay, Good Night.
