good morning all.
Hi and hugs, sprite
How are you today?
Liz! *hugs* Lovely to see you. How are you and your beloved doing?
We're very well
that is good to hear. Any whale watching done?
Season began this weekend. Got our season tickets today but they've not seen many whales yet we'll go out next week or the week after.
wish I could join you!
I wish that too.
:) Who knows, some day.
Mind you - it's pretty cold for here right now. Going down to 6 C tonight.
I'll keep hoping.
wow that is not warm at all.
Today it got to 19C. Was lovely on the beach but colder in the shade.
we aren't getting on with spring at all here. The occasional warm day, but for the rest it is more like autumn, lol. Without the lovely colours.
But I shouldn't whinge. This is winter.
Yuck! Hopefully it'll go straight into summer very soon.
for winter it is pretty ok, grin. But it isn't comfortable. You sure need warm clothes and a coat for 6 c.
True. Sitting here in trackie pants and top and snuggled under a blanket.
awwww that is cosy!
Was in shorts on the beach - real extremes.
makes the cold feel colder, if you know what I mean
Yes, especially with no central heating.
but for sleeping it is great. I like cold bedrooms.
I prefer cool to hot but again, our duvet isn't made for these low temps.
So gave extra duvet on the bed and I resort to a T shirt.
nice excuse to bring in a snuggle blanket :D
:)
Time for dinner, so happy to have seen you. Hope you have a good day - hugs :)
enjoy your dinner, Liz, and hug your beloved from me *hugs*

it is a very autumny day here as well, not much luck with spring so far
ok, 200 in, back for the rest later
I'm not doing well at all - only have 170 (though not yet listed). Sigh. I'm really not great at this!
have 18 left and going to warm up in my bed....it is 13 celcius here - which is bloody cold for us.
Morning all.
It's 5C here right now :)
hey sukee :-)
Hi une.
Good morning, everybody:)
Had frost again last night and it is hovering at a balmy 3c atm:(
Hi crossy.
Howdy, sukee
But, right now it's sunny with fog that is disappearing quickly. Going to be in the 20s eventually.
Yup, everything's eventual they say:)
I am not complaining. i can live with cool nights and 15-20c in the mid-day
I had taken my blanket off my bed and just had a sheet, had to put the blanket on again last night.
howdy, crossy :-)
Howdy, Une:)

So annoyed, the Get Windows 10 icon is now on my desktop. I don't know if I should get it.
I would wait. let the early adopters iron out the bugs first
Give it 6 months
Although, it is free right now, it won't be later.
Find out the deadline
Then again, I will probably need a new laptop in the next year.
Do not let them treat you like a high-pressure car salesman lol
True. It annoys me that it just showed up on my computer.
But, I guess when you have a windows computer that is what you get.
This desktop unit is about 8 years old, and I plan on making the old girl run for another 8 if i can:)
{{crossy}} and it's even Tuesday
((ruby Tuesday!!))
I see another babbler's name is in the grid today.
Hi Ruby Tuesday!
I can't get into iTunes and no matter what I do does not work.
My rig is a rebuild old HP Compaq low-profile office unit. Solid as a rock (once I was done with it)
hiya sukee
Crossy, |I'm sending yu an email about my medical issues
kk, ruby
Just got poopy news today and need some "handling" advice
Just checked Itunes for you sukee. it is running atm
Well, this morning I am fasting, time for blood tests.
((ruby))
Something was missing in my computer when I tried to upgrade it last time, now it won't let me delete the old version to try again.
my blood test is Thursday
bonjour, ruby :-)
Uninstall the program. If you have a geek friend, or you are comfortable with it , go into regedit and get rid of the kernal for the program and re-install
If not, uninstall, use the c cleaner registry cleaner then re-install
When I try to uninstal it says I don't have permission, even though everything has me as the administrator.
odd:(
can you system restore to just before this issue happened?
Tried that, did not work.
mmm
I guess I could call HP, maybe they could help.
try googling the forum boards for this issue and see if there is a fix floating around out there amongst itunes users
maybe..
Though every time I call HP, I get routed to New Deli:(
brb making the mrs a coffee
It's annoying, and iTunes keeps crashing in my iPad.
Back... one of the benefits of having a small place is that everything is within easy reach:)
Don't have to pack a lunch to go to the kitchen:)
Here too :)
when i couldnt get rid of a program i used revo unistaller.. mite help
Okay, I will check it out.
Ruby, I sent you an email.
Good idea, Ivesy. I had forgotten about revo

Looking with you...

Thanks you!

Had to push the monkey's to the limit:)
I hate vowel words - I'm rubbish at them - I have a blindness. Looking for both ap7s now. I just started listing and discovered how many I'm missing, particularly the long ones
back :)

*hugs crossy and matty*
Hugs back :)
Must go to the supermarket soon. I'm in the consultation period of redundancy, but it's complicated - it's been extended 4 or 5 times because there's a client who may have need of me, in which ca4 I'd keep my job. If not, I have two job offers that I have to keep putting off and prevaricating, but in the meantime, I'm at home, and being paid
that is certainly complicated
mm. Can you start one of the jobs you have on hold while still doing the home one, just in case?
It's nice to be wanted, but some certainty would also be nice
No - these are full time jobs. I'm being paid to sit around and do as I like - I'm being made redundant (maybe) because there isn't enough work for an email marketing expert (as clients think everyone there should be experts)
The other two jobs are full time employment in an office (just like my normal job)
If you ride the fence too long, you may lose them, and they will not pay you for long just to sit at home:(
I know - it's driving me nuts - they're waiting to hear from the client
Tough spot to be in. i personally would go where the security is
You cannot relax with "maybes"
But, as you say, it is nice to be wanted by the tow others
I haven't a lot of choice. If I go before they've officially decided whether to make me redundant (lay me off) I will lose the payout, and they could make me work the 3 months
two
notice perios
period
I'm kinda between a rock and a hard place at the moment
Yes, But as an ex business owner, i must say that if they are even thinking of making you redundant--you will be made so. At the end of the day it is all about the bottom line. there is no love lost in business these days
you certainly are :( Not a comfortable place to be
Hope for the best, plan for the worst.
oh that is a fact. As soon as money becomes an issue, people are no longer considered important.
Ah, crossy, my situation is....special. Just after I was put on the consultation period, our biggest client threw their toys out of the pram, saying we didn't know email. So we put together a big presentation to prove we did (and so my period was extended). They loved the presentation (and, I think, me) and so a proposal has gone to the client which would put me on retainer, meaning my role would no longer be redundant. It's totally in the client's hands now
We have companies now that keep you on one day shy of the three month trial period, lay you off for a week, then hire you back on again--all to avoid any financial investment in employees
I hope the client sees and recognizes your skills:)
So I've two other job offers on the table (as I was being laid off, I needed to secure employment) but then my consultation kept getting extended. I reckon I've got two or three day before they lose patience
frustrating, matty
ap7: monkey tricks
Anyway, the upshot of all that is....I shall shortly go to the supermarket to get dinner ingredients ;)
Monkey tricks....? Looking
ty, sprite
reminds me of bird sanctuaries
plural for monkeylike behaviour. But I thought it meant monkey cages, lol.
exactly, crossy :D

Ah - I was lookign at the the first three letters meaning gorilla and such. Thanks
matty, other clue: A + babbler p***winkle, make long plural
Aaand, I'm thinking I should still be looking there for the first ap7
lol, sprite. I got the ap 7/32 from your clue instead
That's the one - thanking ye kindly
Must head to class. Wiil check in later, my friends.
nice, as long as you got them, lolll
have fun, crossy
And Tesco calls me (and I'm hungry) - be back later, I suspect. Oh, and before you feel *too* sorry for me, I have today also booked a long spa weekend for my daughter (almost 24) and me...to Dubai

Howdy bichon.

Thanks for the great clue there, droman :)
Wonderful clue - my missing 9 :)
lol
Great to come back to babble to find you still here
So, no job worries and a swanky trip to Dubai. Raise your hand if you're feeling sorry for Matty : D
hehehe I have been away myself. Rob has lots of plans to go live somewhere cheaper... he wanted me to look at the clubhouse of one of the canoe clubs here.
th7, please?
and we got our groceries too. Will go make soup very shortly
Wow! Those are big plans. How do you feel about that?
th + vowel + **** of passage.
I have decided I won't stand in his way. I would prefer to stay here, because I don't need any upheaval in my life. But he has some good arguments and it would make him very happy. And I know I am adaptable.
thanks
As long as you have access to everything you need.
yvw marc
it would need work, lol. Ah well, let's see what the canoe club has to say... and if it is allowed at all to use it for semi permanent living...
How about the kids? What do they feel about it?
they are not yet included in the plans. We can have one kid living there with us. Caya will leave home in one year. we will see.
Any hints for the final 4 co words pls?
Oh well. Like you said, see what the club has to say.
let me see... they all start with the grasseating milkgiving animal
That gave me 2 words straight off - thanks.
then the 6 ends like the eagle's nest. The 7 after that is the plural.
the next one is the animal + **** of passage
And another. Just missing one of them now.
and the last one is the same, but change the second vowel.
Thanks - don't think I'd've tried that vowel.
I keep looking for cretin - even though I know it's not there.
it helps when you realise it is co- and the verb, lol
Of course - until you said it, I still hadn't read it correctly - duh me!
I have listed at 25 left. No time to battle it out today.
Still have 73 to go here - will probably finish tomorrow.
me neither, Liz, or I would have clued it differently, lolol
lolol

Congrats, sprite
pretty tough grid for its size. Compounds, vowel words, uncommon words... fun though.
anything I can help with before I go?
I'm finding it a bit tough - but enjoying it.
No - I'll probably give up for the evening pretty soon.
ok :) I wish you a lovely evening then, a peaceful night and a blessed day. *hugs*
Hugs to you too and enjoy your day
46 left for tomorrow - enjoy your days or sleep well, depending on where in the world you are.

re 6/21; re 7/32 - clues please
I am just doing my first pass-through.
Did you guys see the news about the TSA?
Yes. No surprise. Work excellence is poor almost everywhere.
gran--re 6 and 6----distant and more distant
*re 6 and 7
not surprised either
TY, Annie.
So nice for this to be headline news. Terrorists, come one, come all. No worries for you.
yw, scrabbs
And our borders are porous.
Yeah but 95% failure rate is higher than I would have expected.
It seems crazy that everyone has to put up with all that hassle for nothing.
Not so bright workers with poor level of vigilance.
it's all "security theatre" anyway, and always has been
It is epidemic in the US--people in jobs for which they are not qualified.
clue for ac7 please
True, Dan.
the main concern isn't actually terrorism, it's that you'll be too afraid to buy any more airline tickets
Scrabbs - also yours is true :-)
The truth hurts.
What is the TSA news?
Sometimes I think I am being a harsh curmudgeon, but the quality of customer service really is dismal. I write letters to employers when I see excellent service. The good workers need to be recognized.
BBS
If employers were willing to pay for high quality employees, that would not be such a problem. As long as their standards are so low, so will the quality of customer service.
phew halfway. this grid is much harder than it appeared at first glance
The TSA news was, Homeland Security sent 70 undercover agents through airport security with weapons and other prohibited items, and 67 of them got through security without being noticed.
appalling

bit of a crossy tidbit: for those already getting notifications to 'reserve" their copy of Windows 10, be aware that it will be available for free for one full year at no cost after the launch date. I advise waiting 6 months to let the ;'early adopters' iron out the bugs that are always in any new Windows O.S

Is there anyone who does anything but groan whenever Microsoft announces a new version of Windows?
We are all gun-shy now;(
I think they are getting rid of windows soon though so I wouldn't bother. some versions are not as good as some are
nbt
I love the Andriod O.S on my tablet. so much easier and more intutive. Do not have to jump through flaming hoops to get things done
how can the get rid of windows?
I used the malware bytes program once but I will be uninstalling it soon as the free version is going to expire in afew days
I'm all for Windows 10. It's Window 8 with all the stupid stuff fixed.
how can They get rid of windows...not me
I have had malwarebytes for many months. it has always been free for the version i use.

The SECOND they have a rock solid full desktop Android O.S I am jumping ship
clue for he 9please?
congrats, dawg!!
They are not getting rid of windows as such as they will not produce a brand new version of windows.Rather they will just constantly update the new one and add more to it as time goes on etc.

OMG...trying to make appointment with the neurosurgeon..ridiculous.
The only complaint I have about Malware Bytes is the misleading pop up you get saying it has expired. It hasn't. It's to try and get you to buy the non-free version. If you run your scan, you will see that the free version is working just fine, and will update.
car....why neurosurgeon?
Because after 3 months of PT my back isn't better.
PT and PCP want additional input. Nothing definitive
I'm sure all that shoveling this winter didn't help
Oh dear, did you try seeing a neurologist?
Sciatica is so painful.
Sorry to hear you are having back pain ((Car))
tetro
oops..Sorry.
As you can see getting desperate on the Ts..lol
co8/50....clue please

I am trying desperately to hike my bursitis and Sciatica out me. having minimal to moderate success:(

I swear I am going to hike these issues out of my battered body, scrabby. Aiming for a 6k hike on Saturday;)
co6/33?
I should register that name just incase, Molly..lol
found it...starts with bovine
I really can't figure out that ae8 even though I saw the clue about what it ends with
whew...13 left
Not too much to guess between the ae and the ending
jj...start with the first 4 of the ae6 before it
bbl
oh hang on i got it - same end as the ac7 - i was looking for same end as ap7
Must have gotten mixed up what the clue meant
be back later, got it down to 99 left
Oh dear, I have way too many left..... 301
I still have plenty too. been on the phone and not paying attention.
It is a rather smooth going grid, Harp.So far at least 99 more to find.
So I found fa9 and someone told about he9, does anyone know what the other 9 is?
202 left for me. Not a fun grid despite its size.
PR 9/72
stats for the lone o please?
OT 5/12
You will kick yourself when you find it..lol
thanks, stimulus overload here....
Most Welcome :-)
What is the ending of the HE 9? I have the beginning...
Almost like a boys/mans name.
ends like a cancerous growth

Did that help at all, Car?
It sure did! ty
YaY glad you found it :-)

nbs
Yay!
Can anyone help with, say, the co7/8 combo?
It'll give me a start on the last six co words
They end like Donny Osmond's sister. But the other last co words all start with mooer.
need help with the ap 7/36 please
sex among stone fruit Ap 7 :D
ap7 ends with a facial twitch
Ouch, totally out done by Ru's clue : D
ty Molly!
Donny's sister's not in the grid...
Can I have help with pr9,78 please?
CO 4/5 before it + consonant + two vowels.
END LIKE Donny's sister
Gotya - sorry, dense
I'm sorry, but I am very confused...
No problem, we all have those moments
PR 9 sounds a bit like an artificial leg.
I got it!! Thank you very much, Zoozzoom!
Welcome :-)
Can I get help on he9,72 also, please?
HE
Never mind! I got to go! Bye!
mo 7/36 the first one?
never mind
this is a tougher grid I think
Glad you found your groove for that word
:d
that was supposed to be :D
sorry to be a pest - I'm now after ce5 and ce7...?
I don't have all the c's matty sorry

Thanks! Coulda sworn I'd tried that
Right, must go and cook dinner and leave you folk in peace. Still 71 words left

it's a lot like PA8
Artificial leg WITHOUT the S
Proteases but I don't know what to replace the 's's' with?
No, an artificial leg is a prosthetic
And you don't REPLACE the S, WITHOUT THE S
A protease is an enzyme
hello
still not getting the pr9
prosthetic without the S
ohgot it
just got the mo7
I have one of them - the one with the matching 8. I am missing another mo7 and the alone mo8
the mo7 I have does not plural
In that case, care to share? :)
lol matty
do u have mo 5/12 above it?
The one that goes vroom vroom?
a car has a mo*** to make it run.. then add to the end of that word
mo + not first...WITHOUT THE W and plural
Molly, thanks, but I have that 7 and 8 combo :)
And now I have the vroom vroom one. Now looking for the MO8 that isn't (probably) a plural, after the word for one who sulks
molly I don't understand your clue
There is only one mo7/8 combo
Yep, I know. There's an mo8/50 that is probably unrelated to any other word.
Add the long plural to the sulk word, Matty.
i only have themo 7/36 by itself
There are sometimes words that exist only as plurals (like suds, lens etc)
Thanks zoooz!
Welcome.
got it ty zooz
mo8/50 is the plural of the words I just clued. Stick a consonant in between the mo and the not first
Is that where one goes to sulk?
are the b words common?
I now have the MO8/50s - there are two
(Molly, I think I can hear your exasperation - sorry to frustrate you)
i have the one that zooz just clued.clue the other one please matty?
I have one mo8/50 that is a pl. help with the others pls
OK - take the mo4 (the word for dead, or a book by Terry Pratchett), add frozen water, then plural for the 8
I guess it's just easier to spell out the words
don't know any books by terry pratchett
dead as in the place where they are buried ?short for that word that is?
mortices
Ah, shame! They're excellent. Do you remember the wife from the Addams family
yes that i know:)
Yeah, well, clearly frustrations are running high here. NM
got it
Well the one Zoom clued is moperies
:) I found that one already but ty
freebe if i didn't already have it
matty not with me
Not frustrated, but sometimes you just run out of ways to clue
molly it happens to all of us
That's funny
Yes, but there is always the option not to clue if it's too exasperating
agreed chriss
I sometimes like trying to come up with slightly quirky clues - not sure how helpful they are, but it makes me think differently
matty and for some those do work:)
Always that option, yes indeed
All clues welcome here :)
But agreed, sometimes not in the mood, so then I don't clue, and if I need a clue, I'll often go to the chat log and look to see if it's been clued already
That is a great option, Matty. There are so many clues in the chat log.
sometimes others are just faster then i am so i don't clue that often
On a lighter note, I can smell garlic and lemon - this will be the garlic and lemon chicken I'm cooking. I think I shall check on it in a moment. It smells lovely
sounds good matty
Especially as I can feel a wee bit of tension, and I'm being rubbish at finding words - no doubt words that shouldn't need clueing
i ask for clues for words that are right in front of me and couldn't see them until right after i ask for a clue lol
are any of the b words common?
Molly, the mo you clued, I didn't understand the second part of the clue, not first minus the w
bichon do you have mo5/18 above it?(i think its the one you are asking about)?
mlf, yes --bo5 is a kind of acid
matty i don't think its your fault
oops i meant 5/14
and bo4 -- if you're dull, you're a bo**
bo5/14 french word for nightclub
une yes that is the only bo word i have
ty for the bo 5/14
yw :-)
bo4 rhymes with fo4
also rhymes with mo4 death
Twice minus the W
I think it's become obvious that the spell them out clues and the *** clues work so much better
back again
Chrissie, are you still here?
Hi jaxx. Just popping in and out
Hiyas, kiddos!
ty Molly
ac7 pls
Oh, Peri, the last 4 letters are 4 letter you shall be using quite a lot. When you apply for a driving licence you fill out a ****
ty Matty
I'll swap you for the ro8/45....?
I would give it to you if I had it
Ah well. I tried using those four letters just out of habit - top tip, if you have a fairly high value long word, it probably ends that way :)
matty, the ro8 ends like the ac7
Yarp, the ro8/60 surely does. But not the ro8/45 :(
oh, I did not see the other ro8, looking
matty, do you have ro4/12?
if so extend that with a long pl
I meant ro5/12
one who does the ro4/5
ro8/45 ends like the first mo8/50
Thank you - another common ending I keep missing in this dratted grid. Still 40 words left, including one 8 (the th8)
107 left here
th8 a group of tested propositions
OK, I feel stupid. Got so used to crazy words in this grid, I missed the easy one
not to worry, it happens to me too
It's also amazing how just leaving a group of words can make them easier to see - I'd given up for a while on a bunch of MOs - came back, and they were staring me in the face
help with pa8 pls
NM
Which is why you shouldn't "feel stupid". Unless you are a genius, you will stop seeing words in these grids after a while. Even the obvious ones. Better to take a break and come back to it.

As my dad would say, "Just a pimple on the ass of progress!"
((Car)) Back pain is not nice at all.

I fell when I was going to get my mom
Ouch!

Nope. We have a broken stoop and my ankle twisted. I went down like a ton of bricks sprawled out in the puddles.

I'm not enjoying it now and I am sure it will hurt more tomorrow.

I usually do not do well there. I do well at local thrift stores and marshalls and tjmaxx.
Now, I don't do well at Marshall's or TJ Maxx. Its a size thing I think.

Toodle pip! Sleep well.
The cabana boys can rest. You need medics for all of your ailments.

Ah drinks. I thought that would irritate your acid reflux.
Some things take precedence.....
