Hello everyone, Hello, Sprite :-)
heeee zooz :) *hugs* dear man. Long time no see... how have you been?
All well so far this end..lol
Congrats to your son for his good grades!
How have you been keeping?
thanks! So glad he made it.
and good to hear all is well in zoozland :)
How are you doing these days, Sprite?
I am fine here. Still going pretty strong with the darn diet, but afraid to test the effect on the scale, lol.
Nah you will be fine. A little bit at a time is all good.
as long as it is a little bit, I'll be happy. But unless my wishes deceive me, I am definitely losing weight.
How is the hair doing.Have you let it grow again or are you keeping it shorter?
still short, and I like it this way. So for now, I am not letting it grow out again.
Better for the summer too!
How is caya doing?
hehehe yes. Caya is doing better. Much more movement and no pain. And no fainting either.
Easier is NOT in the grid (note to self)
Glad to hear it, Sprite :-)
close. Very close. But no cigar.
How is, Rob, and the canoe doing..lol
rob is stressed because of changes at work... we even had a fight, he was that moody. Talked it out but... "I don't feel supported by you, but I don't know what you should differently so that I would feel supported by you." I mean... jeezzzz!
the canoe, though, is fine
Oh dear...sorry to hear that, ((Sprite)) Glad you both managed to talk it through though!
yeah me too. To me it looks likehe is heading for another burnout. But if he has to, he has to...
Well you know what most of us men are like..we will not listen to reason and we will have to learn the hard way if we learn it at all!
too true, grin. Well, I love him to pieces, so I'll be there for him all the way. Even if he doesn't feel it, lol.
how are your parents?
Of course he knows you are there for him, Sprite, Stress does silly things to men.
They have their ailments but otherwise they are doing well. Thanks for asking :-)
stress does silly things to us all. It is a tough thing to handle, for us poor humans.
ah good to hear, zooz. Yeah, Haz once said that aging is not for the timid. She is right!
I agree with that saying!
we are all freakin' heroes to handle life the way we do. I truly feel that.
All we can do is do our best. I know a lot of times we feel we are not doing it right. But to be honest who is? I am sure we all feel the grass is greener the other side. People look at other people and think I bet their lives is going better than mine.when tht person whom you are looking at and thinking that about is probably thinking the same thing about you..lol
so very true! For some reason, people often talk to me and unload some stuff. And often I would never have guessed looking at them, that they were going through such rough stuff. Who was it, who said "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a tough battle"?
Yes I have heard that saying before but can not think of who said it.
wiki says Ian Maclaren, but often misattributed to Plato or Philo of Alexandria. The oldest known instance of this quotation is in the 1897 Christmas edition of The British Weekly: 'Be pitiful, for every man is fighting a hard battle.'
Ah thank you for the info!
:) Now we will belong to the happy few who know it wasn't plato or philo, lol
fireflies. Am sorry to firefly and run, zooz, but it is my turn to cook today and I need to get the groceries... blech. *hugs* and have a lovely day.
No problem, Sprite, Have a wonderful day.Nice to catch up with you :-)

morning
Sorry, was trying to type with one hand.
Good morning, everybody:)
Hi crossy.
Hello, everyone! Just popping in for a minute as I am tired. Just got back from the hospital and have nearly lost the use of my legs. Must use a walker now. Really hate this.
Howdy, sukee, ((mimi))
Waht is going on, Mimi?
Hi mimi. Hey, I use a walker too, it is not so bad.
Sorry to hear about your problems.
((crossy)) They did every test you can think of and still don't know what is wrong. I am in constant discomfort so they just give me pills. Must go to a neurologist as soon as my stupid insurance is finally correctly in place.
Thanks for the empathy, sukee.
I hope they can find out exactly what is going on.
mm, we do not worry about coverage, but we have a long wait sometimes for specialists. The brain drain is not as bad as it was in the 80's, but we still have too few of those high end docs.
For us, most of them tend to gather in the south, in Mississauga and Toronto.
Sukee, how do you manage trying to carry something using a walker? I can walk on my own for a time so that is what I do when I need to carry something from the kitchen. The hard part is getting up...I must roll onto the arm of my couch on my stomach and push with my arms to stand. It is exhausting.
For my mother-in law, I got a small bike hamper and mounted it to the frame of the walker:)
Big enough for a book or other odds and ends
I just want to get fixed. This happened rather suddenly and there must be a reason. They did two MRIs, two CAT scans, two ultrasounds and lots of blood work on me and still don't know what is wrong, just that I don't have MS and other things.
I hope they find out the cause soon, Mimi.
That's great. crossy.
Well, luckily I don't need the walker in the house. I have a walker with a seat and when I have to I put things on it. I also have a real hard time getting up from a sitting position.
My cats are going crazy with worry. They missed me while I was gone and now stick to me like glue and constantly give me love. Wish I could explain to them what is going on but don't know if that would help since I'm still infirmed.
Sukee, do you know why it's hard getting up?
Nope I don't, just weak legs.
I'm not fully diagnosed either. I know I don't have MS or MD.
In my case I have had it all my life but it only got worse in my 40s.
My legs feel like lead weights and are a combo of numb and painful. Making me crazy. Luckily I didn't get this until now and I'm 64. But it certainly makes me feel old.
At least I can still work since I work from home and at my computer. I'm thankful for that.
That is a blessing.
Thanks for the support and must try to get some sleep. I seem to be sleepy at odd times but not when I should be sleeping. Exhausting. Hugs to all.
tc ((Mimi))
Take care. Tiredness is part of muscular weakness, I know :) I now take regular naps.
I'm falling asleep while working which is annoying. Takes me much longer to get my work done. Must adjust though...no choice.
Going to try to sleep now. poink!
I'm off too, see you later

I have missed you.
good morning hurshy.. welcome back
oh, well, let's see, did you know that marty died last march? i forget when i stopped playing. the other two are fine though.
I did not know. I am so sorry.
did zooz tell you the coast was clear now?
i still miss him tons every day, he was my soulmate i think
I am sorry Hurshy - you were very attached I know. I hope he did not suffer
no, zooz didn't tell me anything, i just thought i'd try and see
I know the feeling, hursh.
oh.. he was going to.. on sudoku
the creep stopped playing on March 3rd... it's been so much nicer here since
he did not suffer much at all, he was pretty functional right up until the last day or so, then he was just sleeping like all the time, and then he wet the bed. i took him to the emergency vet cause it was a sunday to find out if it was time. as they were setting up the stuff to put him to sleep, i think he had a heart attack on my lap. so they didn't end up having to do it and i never had to wonder if it was really time, either.
I have no idea who you are talking about but glad he/she is not here.
it doesn't matter peri.. they are gone
very sad but what a lovely way for him to go - for you both
I can tell you Hurshy.. losing the soul mate pet in your life ... the sadness never goes away... I tell myself that I was blessed for the years I had and glad it was me that had that wonderful dog
i dream about him a lot, so then i feel like i'm seeing him. and it's funny because in the dreams i generally am aware that he is dead, but he's just there anyway. and one time in one of them, people were like, why is he here, he's dead? and i said well just because he's dead doesn't mean he doesn't still want to be AROUND me
I think about my dog .. everyday too
sorry for your news hursh...I've lost 2 dogs over the last couple of years and miss them so much too!
that's contact hurshy :D
sometimes i've also felt him jumping up on the bed and walking on the bed and then i look and there is no cat
but I'm really glad you decided to take a chance and come back..
wow
thanks ruru :)
and what is funny is, i met someone else online who has had the exact same experience with HER cat
i see S words haven't gotten any more cooperative...
does anyone have either of the as 5's?
yes one is a flower and one just changes a vowel from that
yes, one is a flower. change the second vowel for the other.
snap, hurshy
:(
Hurshy when one of my cats died a few years ago, the day after I "heard" her meowing at the side door and none of our cats go outside
i mean :)
well, you clued first, hursh, great minds
there's more in heaven and earth, horatio...
My cat died November 13. and I hear her jumping off of the chair in my computer room.

D clue please?

Da'an from Earth: Final Conflict made it into the grid
da6.27 da & Johnny Depp is very wa****ble (eye candy)
Night all
i don't understand lynx clue
We've had several cats, and all of them jumped on my bed and walked on me at night - all are gone now, but I still have a cat visitor in bed some night - I always know which one! Only three return this way, but the were very different, so I know which one has come by!
MLF....something that is worth looking at is wa****ble....
our female cat kneads on my husband shortly after we go to bed(and purrs while doing it)
d + "Right back *****" Whatever.
got it ty all
that's cool helen
I think the three that visit are the only ones that didn't just jump on the bed and settle - they had to walk across to get to just the right spot! And yes a couple of them went in for kneading me - but they don't do that now.
NA 7 and 8 do they go together?
The Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca made it into the grid.
na 7/8 combo....
yeah, more and most, MLFAN
Helen were they fairly young when they did the kneading? my husband is the only one she does it to and its on his bare skin
Hello everyone! TGIF
oh i see it now")
hi car...
Oh boy..."Fun with A's Friday" I see...
got two of the 7s and an 8
nbt and nbs
car and only one has no words coming from it
One of them did it all his life - but he had come to us a little too young, and he took me for mama right off - as a kitten he sucked the ends of my hair in his sleep. Never before had to wash my hair every morning! I was glad when he started settling for just kneading my shoulder. But he was kind enough to let me have a sheet and blanket in the way!
Awwww
Helen yes especially when your cat got bigger nice to have a blanket and sheet in between
i am going to go eat now will be back
<--- real name is in the grid today!

Japanese word
Dammit...ty
I counted the values wrong.
yw, but what is the sa 6/21?
Children born to Japanese in a different country
a Japanese language term used in parts of the world such as South America, North America and Australia to specify the children of children born to Japanese people in the new country.
I need the 6/21
Sorry..I thought you wanted to know what it meant.
SA 6/21 is like a holy word
it usually has an -us at the end
sa6 is plural of a holy place
Bich, you have seasonal affective disorder in the winter? It is a disorder based on lack of light.
18 left no list yet
Fireworks!
that is what I thought too, Molly
Going to a 4th grade picnic now! HAGD all
yay for Car!!
no in the summer. Due to the high humidity and temps. Doesn't go away til late Sept
Sorry, I meant you "don't have" seasonal affective disorder in the winter
Right
I get very hot. Mr. Bich grew up in south Florida. There's lots of strife regarding the AC and overhead fans
Oh, never heard of that. Most people I know are depressed in the winter, not the summer.
I grew up at the beach in NYC. I was used to the cool sea breezes. We rarely had a bad day
You should send Mr. Bich out to live in a back yard tent if he loves the heat so much. Then you can keep yourself comfortable with fans and air conditioning.
That might work out. He's going to Costa Rica in a week. He should love that
Well good. Then you can kick up your heels and run the fans and air conditioning at your comfort level. If I were you, I would threaten to stop showering unless he caves on the cool air strife.
I plan to do that and the fluffs will be happy too
Anybody see or hear from Ruby today
not me, Bichon
help with wi7 or tw7 pls
wi7 starts like what the old owl is and ends with the last three of what is under the tree at Christmas
It's a plural
ty new word for me

tw7 is a game with dots on the pad where you move your hands and feet around the pad
Cheers back at you Peri
so it is, ty for tw7

Remember to refresh before you take a break. Words have a way of disappearing here.
oh, I will try that. thanks
do they go away if you step away,or just if you log out?
clue for ac 5/14 pleasr
Sniffle. Brian Williams & his association with th NE 8 are a mystery to this non US resident. Could some kind soul be a bit more specific?
BW tells you about what happened around the world that might be of interest to people...
ac 5....a + feeling chilly....
can someone clue the 1st sc 5/14?
Ah, thank you Pen. :-)
s + feeling chilly....
aha! thank you!
yw....
ty pen great clue
oh no, now my brain hurts. how is your dad, soodle?
canst
Brian Williams is on CNN, something only US people would know
no, he is on NBC... but you are right...
i have always loved lester but heard he wants to match Brian's $9M salary up front.
I don't think Ireland has the kind of famous news anchors that the US does
$9M. incredible.
i don't think any other country would be inclined to pay them outrageous salaries. Or make them into something greater than the news. But I do not have the facts, just surmising.
You think that is incredible? Some alias band called De Rico is suing Beiber and Usher for 10 million, due to a copyright infringement.
all based on ratings....
da#n.
then he should get at least $12M/
Ah, thanks for asking about my Dad, TO. :-). He is doing ok -ish. He got a pneumonia following his surgery, but, trooper that he is, he is weathering that storm! I swear! I'm middle-aged & menopausal - and Bith my parents will see me dead & gone!!! Lol
'Both'
sure sounds like a fighter!
good to hear.
Years of practice, I guess Pen. He's been married to my Mam fot 57 years!
was to be at happy hour an hour ago. does not look promifing, too lazy to change and put on makeup
lol...
my dad just let my mom have her way. easier that way
Sorry if that sounds irreverend - but that's their relationship!
s
Lol TO. I was at a wedding once where the bride's father gave the following advice to his brand new son-in-law:- Whenever you're wrong - admit it. Whenever you're right :- Shut up!
ha!
I would love to sneak a bottle of Irish in to Soodle's Dad and listen to him tell stories for hours.
i keep seeing"shazam"
Soodle, I am on my way to bed. just wanted to say they bred the previous generation to be tough. Glad your dad is improving. tc
Evening all.
hello, jaxx and sukee
Hi owl
the top d has me stumped.
Think Russian, only spelled weird
ty, that crossed my mind but the letters were not there
i actualy tried a d instead of ca5/16 - close.
Enable is in love with variant spellings
got it! Thanks Molly
I am still stumped :)
do words disappear when the site is inactive, orjust if yu lo out and come back?
In my experience, some do, some don't
i think it is russian for a summer house.
Ah, got it TY
you are right TO
Trying to play while watching baseball :)
Words often disappear if you log out or go away from the game for a while. Best bet is to refresh every time you leave, and even that doesn't always work.
That explains how sometimes you are sure you typed in a word before.
Well, no. If you type fast while playing, and don't check each word as it's entered, there is the possibility of typos.
That is true.
Ouch, ump got a ball in the bicep.
I never make tyops.. so that isnf posieble
:)
hi there ru
Oh oh, manager got booted, Bautista got hit...
hey batgirl
Batgirl?
she likes bats
me?.. I could live without them
I remember when a bat got into the library I worked in :)
Those things can get under closed doors.
call me weird.. but I like kittens and puppies :D
And bunnies.
hi all. any clues for the 8s? i have neither of them
yes I like bats. They eat bugs at night and make it easier to sit oitside. I found (one of) the ways they were getiing in the house. They are endangered
and I am pleased to have a colony. And no, they don't get stuck in your hair! That is a myth
wonders if saanich has a belfry :D
and to make me appear a bit saner, I also love puppies and kittens!
i prefer bats to cats any day or night
LOLOL
not yet ru
I think I just don't like Old Bats..maybe that's it :D
us young bats really go
Oh yeah, old bats. They get bitter and all that.
any clues for those 8s?
Not me, I only have one 7 too.
I've been known to go batty however
na8.. not the sweetest and most sensitive
No. unbelievable.
ty ruru
ne8: what you watch on TV at 6:00
Ty...

TY FOR NA. I HAD THE 7 BUT NOT THE 8. ty.
I wouldn't mind being called batman however :D
what, and wear your underwear outside your clothes??
crap.. if Madona can do it .. why not me?
go for it -- send photos please gotta see this
got to head out to an appt.. thanks for the laughs.
Au revoir mes amis
bye for now
hello friends. sorry I missed ruru
hi Bugs
hello, bugs.
I am not sure I really up to seeing a grown man wearing batman underwear. My boy liked to wear them backwards so he wouldn't fart on his hero.
They didn't fit properly but that didn't matter.
!!!
I thot he was the only one until a whole bunch of us took our 3 year olds to the beach without planning. Lots of the boys were wearing them backwards and all the Mums were so relieved.
I don't think Ru meant wearing Batman underwear, but that is another, kind of adult story.
He could have Molly. He wanted to go for wearing his unders outside his pants. Who knows how weird he can get?
he is a wild and crazy guy!
i am bored with this grid, unfortunately, since not done.
I am always tired by the time I get to the last 20 or so TO. Hang in there
we'll help with clues
ty.
me too tho they are never very good unless copies
Oh, I guess I don't think of Ru as weird.
not in a bad way weird, just a fun way weird. I don't think his mind follows the typical trajectory.
I thought he was the sanest people I have ever met!
PB for saanichcat
outta here dan, very contr***
hee :-)
think it is list time.
do you have ac5/14?
I don't
when i get it i will share
it comes from the right column A by process of elimination
Hi Dan and Owl.

hi all. anyone have the D word? or one of the L words? thanks.
ishult did you get the D word?
no, don't even have the stats??
ishult, you like in Ketura? what does the kibbutz grow and produce?
these days the only thing we produce is Dates, algae(factory) and children
shult, you also have a guest facility which i am sure brings in money to the kibbutz. i looked it up.
it is too far south for me to come this august. i dont want to go further south than mitzpeh ramon. it is too terribly hot. we usually go in winter. this year i decided to take my granddaughter in august and i am already feeling the heat.........but she is 13 and i believe she must see israel already. only this one son of mine has not going there with his kids. all the other grandkids go often
doesnt anyone on the chat have that D word?? pretty please?
off for now. time to sleep
it is very hot here, but unlike further north it is avery dry heat here
da6/27, Russian country home (different spelling)
daputin
damn it
I always had thought of a da6/27 as being quite a mansion; turns out practically everybody has one, and they are more like cabins (visited there about 20 years ago)
Russia ... I don't think I'd be interested in visiting
it was for work, but I found it fascinating. Probably helped that I was with Russian colleagues the whole time.
hmm.. what I read wasn't all that great about Russia.. as far as how people are treated, crime, and accomodations
yes, that's why it was good I was with Russian colleagues - accommodations were official ones at the laboratories where we were working, and they didn't take us to areas where crime was a problem
I would not have wanted to be on my own there
that's good.
there's so much history in the world.. why go where it is dangerous. I don't get it.
I went for physics, not for history :-)
ah.. well.. glad it worked out for you
hey all, coming in late, think I can get halfway?
well halfway and NBT but still looking for NBS. *thinking*
What do you need, stid?
I need an 8 tor, the first two letters of either one?
ne & na
And how's the weather down there? It's cooler here (finally) but still so very dry. We're getting some roadside blazes in places that never burn. I'd hate to be on the other side of the mountains!
thanks *thinking*
got one! (the NE)
AND the NA! :-D
It's getting warmer .. We've already had some fires ..
Yay stid!
it's going to be a long fire season.
I fear so ..
Down to 77, which is pretty good for only one smallish hint. LOL
OH! may I brag?
Brag away!
:-D Stidkid #2 just got a PERMANENT part-time (up to 29 hours a week) job!!!!! He can keep it until he finishes college if he stays local. The manager is a long-time acquaintance and knows Grant really well, so as long as Grant does a good job, he's in a good place. *relieved and proud mama look* I think it's a lot safer than the construction he was doing last year!
Excellent!
It makes me feel happy when the boys have success. The road to independence is NOT easy for kids these days.
It's definitely stacked against them ..
Yea for Grant!!!
hey mcurl! :-D
