XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX
hello my dear rose *hugs* THANK you :D
lol, my first few words and I have all the 8s. I am so proud of me.
yay you. well done !
I admit they are way easy today. But still. How was your day, darling?
nice and quiet, thanx. after yesterday. god-daughter coming back on friday to stay the night. it will be so special.
how was your night, dear? did the pain let you sleep?
oh how lovely! You'll have such fun :)
yeah I slept reasonably well. To be awakened by the telephone lol... Rob had been to work, came back because he had forgotten his agenda/calender (?) and then found out he had forgotten his key too. He was standing in front of the house and couldn't get in *giggle*
oh dear!! sounds like he must have left in a hurry.
nah, more in a distracted mood, lol. Or half asleep still. The poor man starts work at 7 am... must leave home very early.
sprite, are you turning 29 again? ;-)
hope your day is a good one
ugh.... there are two sevens in a day??
lolllll 49 and counting, my dear, 49 and counting :D Hi jbp!
hey me too
enjoy...
seems that way. The one decidedly nicer than the other one.
ooooohhhhh, that means half a century next year... * collapses with giggles *
good age, isn't it, jbp? Thank you and a lovely day to you as well.
hah.
i'm wrestling with whether to continue with hair coloring... temples are going white, but the rest of it is basically salt and paprika... redhead, you know
* grey cells going into overdrive* what to do next year !! hmmmmm, let me see...
this is the age my sister was when she stopped dying hers, but she has a nice salt & pepper thing going
lol
yeah it does, rose. And I am gonna celebrate, for sure. Btw, I celebrate this year as well. First time in ages that I really have invited people and told my family I wanted the works... breakfast, gifts, people coming, the whole enchilada.
enchiladas for breakfast? ;-)
oh, jbp, my friend had red hair, she said she became a strawberry blonde as she got older.
ah, greying is not always pleasant for redheads. I have stopped dying my hair ages ago and I am nicely streaked with silver hairs.
yep... i don't mind that part... it's sort of a weird golden brown, red thing.
well, I just don't want to even out to have pink hair. ;-)
roflollll now that would be something, jbp. Mrs Slowcombe, are you freeeeee?
lol
eek
hey hot pink hair is IN !!!
wth cupido is not valid? Now THAT is a name that is also used without capital!
I don't know about the hot part of hot pink... unless we're counting "power surges"
jbp, think fluorescent pink....
hmz... ignore that post... seems you silly english-speaking people don't use an O at the end...
or barby doll pink
ohhhh yes, power surges. I sleep with a towel. Makes all the difference.
yeah, I know. with my freckles, it would be frightening
will have to try that.
freckles! Omg I am jealous. I love freakles.
oh, is that what i am speaking ???? darn !!! you realised...
;)
freakles??? Typo, lol. Freckles.
*exploding with giggles * freakles???
well, in your case, rose... it is not entirely clear what you speak....
hmmmmpffff. * loading water rifle *
*brings out raincoat and umbrella* Let's have it!
* belly crawls under sprite's desk * gotcha. hahaha
eeeeeeeeks that is COLD!
right between the big toes...
meanwhile, i wanna run under the sprinkler.
*grabs rose's water rifle and gives jbp a good sprinkling*
heh...
well THAT was refreshing!
so wh would like to clue me the left side E?
did you like the tingle with it, jbp? i loaded it soda pop.
I'd love to. Can't, though. Yet.

Howdy, Dan:)
heya cross, bich
good morning folks :)
Howdy, Kate
Hi Crossy, another brisk summer morn today :)
yes, woke up to 6C this morning;)
brrrr....we're up to a balmy 15, but the winchill must be in effect ;)
I actually do not mind 15-20 C and sun. I can do what I like outdoors without sweating bullets:)
Although i think my blood is as thick at honey:)
I loathe "dead air" in the house. from May till october i usually have a fan flowing a breeze in the direction of my desk.
Blowing*
yes, I was trying to do some weeding on the weekend - between the sweat and the skeeters, I gave up and ran for shelter... can't take the heat/humidity anymore
Let's see what my brother is dealing with today...
lol! 38C or 100F!
Poor sod!
Well, he chose to live in a desert. I see all next week it 98F to 108F for him.
He can have it! What are the night temperatures like?
73-85F
oh...thought they might be lower
he is basically right in vegas. I do not think they quite get the heat dissipation that they do right out in the desert proper
makes sense, the buildings and pavement would hold the daytime heat, then dissipate it at night.
Kate you're not the only one who can't take the heat and humidity any more. We use something called a "buff". It's a cloth headband made out of a special material that absorbs the sweat and keeps it from dripping down into your eyes
they used to make terry cloth ones like that - think tennis players.. but this is something new and improved? I was sweating from head to toe on Sunday - do they make a full body version, LOL
Now it is time for crossy's quote of the day!!!
"Life on Earth is the cosmic equivalent of what happens when you don't store things in a cool, dry place."--Unknown.
Bring it on!
And for those who care, my new poem is posted on peotry.com and is ready for voting:)
I use my real name in there. Never hide your work behind a pen name unless that name will adversely affect the way in which people will judge what is written:)
Joe Hill springs to mind as an example:)
looking - is there a way to search by author? i saw poems just in, but don't see your name
See below
Use search poem tab
see a few from more than 1 year ago...title?
The newest one was posted to day and is called "52 hertz" Actually came about as a result of my tidbit yesterday
Worked out rather well if I do say so myself:)
May put a collection together if I get 120 pages of it or so.
I di the search, but nothing came up - maybe I have to sign in or something.
maybe. been so long since I joined. Send me an email. I will send it to you privately if you wish
Need some feedback on a few of these anyways.

it is a rare and interesting sensation to be given back a new life to live over once again; to reflect back on how you used or misused the old one, and to be given a change to live it over again--but only better.

well.. you don't have to rub our nose in it crossy :D
:)
Take you for canoe ride next time you are in my area to make up for it:)
Kind of doubt I'll ever been on the east coast of Canada.. I like BC better
I like B.C as well, but, for now, i am stuck with central Ontario:))
I thought I'd want to end up in New Zealand (once retired) .. but I'm thinking about BC if it isn't impossible.
*Picturing Crosshair and Ruru in a canoe together : D : D : D
For the price of one home out west, i can buy two here, however, for the price of one here, i can buy two in P.E.I, so it is all relative:)
B.C would be a fine choice.
we'd have one oar molly
the prices in BC seemed very reasonable to me
depends on exact location
Housing is insane. A fully detached with yard in T.O can hit a million dollars plus now in overbidding.
I was considering buying a place up there.. but it wouldn't be that easy to get to often enough to make it worthwhile unless I just settled there
TO?
Kids inheriting parents homes that were bought in the 50's are now becoming instant millionaires!... Toronto
oh
Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary - all similar housing prices right now.
It's easy to find a condo apartment for a million dollars in Calgary now.
that's silly
Out of my price bracket:(
I wouldn't pay a million bucks for a condo
Very silly - most of those buildings are not what yo could call a lifetime investment.
I'm going to be able to find a nice house here in napa for $500K
last one i saw was a unremarkable two bedroom bunglaow with attached garage in a prime area of the city. it listed at $750,000.00, was shown to 30 people and a bidding war ensued. it ended up going for 1.3 million dollars.
we didn't have a bidding war on our house.. but one person stepped up and took out all the others quickly
That is well:)
I was hoping for a bidding war :D
The worst of a market like this is that there's no possibility of the time to get an inspection done on the house - it would already have been sold by the time you got an appointment with an inspector!
wow.. that's part of the contingencies here
The funny thing is that the homes in Toronto realizing these fabulous prices are nothing much to speak of.
sure.. kind of like Vail and Aspen
two bedroom bungalows going for millions
You are correct, helen. From the time they get listed till a bidding ware happens is usually less than a week.
war*
I better get to work.. see you all later
Do not care for Toronto much myself:)
real estate market in Nashville is nuts right now too -- builders buying 1950s houses, often on a lot 100 x 200, stripping out all trees/shrubs, building "twin houses" in place of the original home, selling those for $600,000 or more apiece
construction right now on pretty much every street in my part of town -- jeez!!!
That is a growing trend in our area as well; buying a run-down house on a standard sized lot, bulldozing it, sub-dividing the property and cramming a pair of condos on it for the skiers.
house next door on small lot -- demo is almost finished -- in its place will be a 5000 square foot house -- wow
Yup, build right to the property line
yikes -- gotta run -- driving a sweet shepherd rescue up the interstate! byeee
Put a green roof on and to hell with trees and grass.
tc Une

How are you?
Jeez, I've missed Babbling, and my Babble buddies!
I'm fine.
How are you ?
Good to see you back.
It's good to be back and see all my buddies. I've really missed being here. I've been made redundant, then laid off a second job, and now I am a Care Assistant in a Dementia Care Home, literally 5 minutes walk away from my house. It's amazing being there, and making a difference in the lives of people.
Glad to hear you landed on your feet, Aussie! Good on ya!
As a nurse I understand how you feel.
Hi Judi.
Glad to hear you 're working.
I was laid off on a friday at 10:30 am. By 12:30 I had an interview lined up at the Care Home. I didn't let being laid off get me down, not even for 5 minutes. No flies on this girl.
:D
Wow! Good to know who and when to call.
I've been there for 5 months, and I absolutely love the job, and it's an honour working with the Residents. We have a Lady there and she's 101 years old, 102 in November!
I like the old folks too. Always have.
must go. Good to see you Aussie, and All.
*waves bye-bye to Hego*

Very true, very true Chrissie :) Be glad we've not met ;) There's a tube strike here tomorrow - one of my Drabbles was about last year's tube strike. Siiighh
in exactly 100 words... no small feat, crafting a thoroughly enjoyable victual of a tale..
Thank you - you should both sign up, give it a go. It's fun!
I'd be rubbish. No imagination.
is it a thing where you are always given a topic and 3 key words?
you had enough imagination to get goosebumps Chrissie ;)
No - the website isn't - just a couple of friends and I who were on Drabble had a short period of challenging each other
It can help give inspiration when you run out. I should do that again, actually, as I've run out of inspiration
every writer needs a break from time to time.
is the first ou 5/14 "normal"?
yes, be one better than someone

Hi all
de 6 / 7 - I wasn't the head teacher at my school in England - I was the de 6 (different last letter)
Trif, think about a sheriff's sidekick, change the last letter to a vowel, then past tense it
Trif has left the building...
*penquis has entered the building*...
*Beware of flying knitting needles*
yes!....had to take out some stuff because of an error....bro was here and distracted me...
what is a de6? not head teacher, but a ????dependent? i dont get it. there is a principal and a vice principal and a dean. not in grid. confused.
think of barney fife.....he was de***y sherriff.....add vowel...
ok it is the sheriff word. we dont use that term here in the u.s. there are no de**** teachers.
Oh but you missed the sheriff clue. Deputy.
change last vowel is all. and then make past tense.
It's a totally non US board here these days.

Hello kj
hi kje
hi kje
bottom o?
od5
theater
for greeks
ugh ty
:D
kje .. is that chihuly glass in your icon?
(kje.. more ughs than Sylvester Stallone)
no, it's an ink work... though I do love chihuly
my sister has a piece
I don't think I've ever seen a sylvester stallone movie
sure you have
wow, sammy! cool!
I have?
Rocky?
Cobra
you should hear how Nick does an "ugh". he's perfected it. did you know ugh has two syllables???
i can t even afford to THINK about owning a piece
nope
"ugh-GAH!"
oh geez Sammy they're super expensive
of course it does if done correctly, weed.... which I'm sure sick knows
ick
I went to a show once in Seattle and some of the pieces were hundreds of thousands of dollars.
damn you autocorrect!
ugh has always had two syllables feather
lol
I think ugh is a young kid thing.. and some doctors do it too
I'm craving popcorn
it's only one syllable for real though. just verified for myself on dictionary.com. hey, I teach kindergarten....i know syllables! ;)
<--not a popcorn kinda guy
<---- popcorn lover
for me it's one syllable
figures...
<<<<< popcorn . . . yum
then you're not putting enough feeling into it
kernels of wisdom from Une
*snort*
hi une
well.. I don't just say it once kje :D
ughGAH ruru...
hey feather :-)
:D
I love ick... he's my fave
you can ship that last dog out to me une.. I'd keep him
he gives weed constant hell... how can you not love a kid like that
lol, he's been an imp from day 1
he was such a sweetheart :-)
he gets my vote of confidence
no kidding he was cute as could be
very calm and gentle -- will be a great family pet :-)
I could tell
very confident dog in many ways
needs a new name, though LOL
what was the old one?
rusty?
transported a "Fuzz Face" recently -- adopter renamed her Fiona -- MUCH better!
what are you talking about??
that spaniel you just drove.. hanging out the window
sooo cute
could have been a hound dog too.. couldn't tell exactly
brown and white
ooohhh, yes, precious dog :-)
he was something
li6?
very scary thing happened this weekend
li6 hosen
what's that une?
adorable pittie boy Rocky, transported back in May to Buffalo NY
was stolen from adopter's yard
yes?
ty
oh not
no
every involved in his rescue was sooo upset
was even on local TV
but was found and returned today!!!
I don't leave my dogs outside
oh.. well that's good news after all then
me either, ru
I'm adopting a dog soon une
cool!
Lab? Golden?
my first rescue in a long time
Labrador I think this time
such wonderful dogs!
di7?
which one kj?
which one kje?
di + most of whirlybird
then transpose the last two letters for the other di 7
ah, ty
ru, I really like helping transport black labs -- such great dogs and people are sooo weird about not wanting a blak dog . ..
*black
I'd take a black dog in a second
:-)
I've never heard that about black dogs
because of the shedding?
I have to meet you someday une..you are amazing
kje I never had either till I started transporting
i've heard it. i've owned two pure black cats, and sadie is black.
no, because of the color, kje
superstition, or the assumption that they're meaner
weird
shelters are FULL of black dogs -- i just don't get it . . .
I've heard of black cats... bc of the whole halloween thing
but never black dogs... that is ridiculous
I met the greatest black lab a few weeks ago at a winery
i WANTED a black dog when we went to the shelter!
(feather listens to rap music too)
i grew up with a black lab guide dog in the house, so actually have a preference for large black dogs
oh, yeah -- a friend used to always keep her black cat inside around Halloween
good idea there une
how cool,feather!
yes, people do stupid things on halloween. I'd def guard the animals
ours were indoor cats. it was pretty cool though on halloween though, because they'd be on the stairs behind the door. i remember many reactions of "whoa, are they REAL?"
so, ru, will you be looking for a puppy or an adult?
lol fb
doesn't matter une.. i'm good with any age
there should be lots of local options available! :-)
I think I'd prefer an older dog to be honest
understandable
they're sweeter and harder to adopt... and need TLC
I'm kind of too old now for puppies
yes!!!
*waits for KJE's comment*
i did NOT want a puppy. awfully cute, but a pain in the butt! she was just barely out of puppyhood, and is still a puppy in many ways at almost 3. lab/pit mix. very bouncy.
fw
I'm not a pit guy.. that breed isn't for me
yay kje!!!
he is old... I've met him
yay kje
they're the sweetest things
(holding up middle finger salute for the doc)
(kje ain't no spring chicken either if you catch my drift)
an old wrinkly middle finger
LOL
maybe sprung chicken then
my finger is newly adorned, ru
oh?... say what?
:) :) :)
are you kidding?
nope
that was a good segue, kje
Awesome!!!!! .. i'm really happy for you .. he sounds like a terrific guy for you
you have to wait for it, weed
congrats, kje!!
ty... I'm happy. He is adorable
when did this happen .. in Mendocino?
July 4th
oh.. this guy is a HOPELESS romantic
ty, une
he is... but so am I
Beats staying in texas with all those NRA guys huh?
I'll drag him with us when imc comes to town, ru
:D
oh.. you'll have to flash the sparkly stuff then
jmc... not imc
he likes to bag out at the last second though
depends on what part of the city we're in ru... can't go flashing things in SF
I might have found my new house.. waiting for it to come on the market
wow, that was fast! congrats!
fast? I've been looking for two years
it sounds like just what I want.. compound. small house.. guest house.. room for a pool and fruit trees.. wine cellar.. two car garage
ok. I thought you were waiting to sell yours first
we did sell ours .. we're in escrow
sold in a week
wow... I feel like you just listed it!
it's not officially sold yet until it closes.. but she's paying cash for it
that's huge! congrats! things are moving...
really fast right now
I am trying to keep my head above water
swim, ru swim
float .. float
ok, must run... miles to go before I sleep...
better than glub glub
gn all
wow.. kje.. what terrific news .. thanks
night kje.
nite, kje
I could have warned him about you.. but never had the chance I guess
i'm stepping away for a bit too -- (get ready, ru) -- taking the pups out to pee LOL
LOL..
those dogs have the tiniest bladders on the planet
i'm going to head out too. don't know if i'll be in tomorrow or not...gotta work on some projects!
night then feather.
thanks for the laughs
de6/27 please?
shot sheriff, did not kill the de6 -- different ending
firewords for the first time in ages.
tx seain!!
past tense for de7
and congrats!
