on pins and needles right now, got a call two hours ago my son and DIL were on the way to the hospital for the delivery of my first grandchild and waiting to hear if she's staying or if it's a false alarm so we know if we should go to the hospital or not.
Good morning all.
Good morning, my friends:)
Hi crossy.
welllook who finally joined the land of the living
howdy sukee:) Keep us informed, Luv. Nothing finer than grandbabbies:)

hiya sukee... keep us posted luv
Got up at bladder o'clock:(
Hi carlee
got up at cat o clock
I got up early because I was a sweaty mass, sticky here.
Humidity is 95% this morning.
up here???? where sukee?
Kitchener.
72% here and a sunny, beautiful morning
oh...hmmm no idea here ..am in sarnia but by the water so..no idea humid or not
Sarnia is 92%
I'm grateful I got my hair cut short last week.
oh is 93% here too... butonly 73
You guys can have the humidity down there;)
I just want a nice sunny dry summer that does not make me ache :)
I guess I should move to Arizona then :)
I hear arizona is good for that:)
snap
But, then it means you have to live in the US. No offense to US Babblers :)
My brother had 8% the other day... as long as you do not mind 106F to go along with it:)
Vegas, Dante's Inferno in bothe senses of the term
yup
he loves being near the strip though. not for me.
he worked in the poer industry for a decade, so it ws a natural location for him at the time
poker
I think living in Vegas would be too much for me.
how different can brothers be
Too hot for me.
and I do not gamble
I would be living in air conditioning and get bored with nickle slots :)
lol, I can see sukee hauling around coffee tins full of nickles...
woo hoo, I have blacked out 3 whole boxes.
:)
woohoo for sukee
I'd be one of those old ladies...
Mt brother ,in the simmer can spend up to $1500/ month in his a/c. He has a 3500 sq foot place to cool
summer
I don't gamble either and all the times I've been around casinos [for tangential reasons] I gotten nauseous
I had a fun time on a cruise ship once playing slots. George Takei's mother was watching me play :)

lol carlee, nah, better not. I didn't stick to my diet yesterday, but I'd better get back to it right this morning or things will start to slide.
arrggh I am in my usual form. Halfway and only one 7 and one 8, no 9s, lol. I am so biggie blind.
I am in my usual form--wandering. Hi, annie.
Im going to start the coffeemaker..maybe it will put my brain in higher gear...be back soon
please bring me a cuppa too, Annie :)
Hi pam :..never see you this early but nice to see you

thank you!
Thanks, annie! M-F, I'll lurk and do a few words. Today, I am relaxing and avoiding the morning's heat, so I came out of lurk.
lovely to see you unlurking, pam
Hi all and hugs, Sprite
hi Liz! *hugs* for the both of you. How was your day?
Hi, Liz. Thanks, sprite!
Full of cooking - great way to keep warm! How were your birthday celebrations?
they were amazing, Liz. I had the best birthday ever.
That's great - happy for you.
what are you cooking for, Liz? Or just felt like cooking?
hi lizlin
Just felt like it and needed some stuff - couple of cakes for the freezer - cut up so we can take when we want and a courgette, asparagus and goat cheese bake - had some for dinner and the rest is frozen.
Hi Carlee - long time since i've seen you - good to see you back here.
ohhhh that sounds so good. I love goat cheese.
Me too.
thanks lizlin.. just taking a break from school
Summer break is always good.
Hi everyone
oh is only a morning break lizlin...school all summer long writing my IPP
Hi katie
Oh! What's an IPP?
individual proposal plan.. I present to a panel in a few weeks to get approval for research
hi Katie :)
Right - that I understand - just never heard the acronym before.
wow carlee! Will keep my fingers crossed for you.
ac 7/52 pls???
nm found it
oh thanks sprite. I am not terribly concerned..just a lot of reading..I need to sort out the methodology and theories but other than that.. is all good
Yes - hope it works for you - a lot of time going into that proposal.
What's the research?
Liz, start with a high playing card. Then end up with the last four of to put right, re7/52
right. Pulling a peri on me.
I am looking at how pop culture is a tool to problemetise educational policy
problematize* education policy
Guess so - I had the 7 after it so knew it must be similar - just had to find the right ending.
could you tell me a bit more, carlee? That went kind of over my head, sorry :(
Interesting but not sure I understand it.
ok..traditionally pop culture has more or less absorbed colonial language and stereotypes... society, government, popular opinion and consumerism feed this pop culture beast and the thing evolves and moves ( I think of it as a giant amoeba)... but now with the advent of social media, crowdfunding and so forth pop culture is now beingused as a tool by the colonised to challenge the discourse that can act to shape education policy
clue for second be 5/18
builders colour matches
or anything else - it wouldn't have to be education policy, that just happens to be the thing you are studying. right?
no thanks, Matches, already have it
hiya hurshy :)
hiya sprite
Thanks for the explanation.
yeap exactly hurshy, i am doing me M. Ed so i am dealing with ed policy but yes..cross over
hi, hursh!
hello pam!
I am feeling very stupid right now, carlee, I still don't really understand it. Could you dummy it down for me, please?
sorry don't understand the clue
be 5/18 - sort of cream / brown colour
ty lizin good clue
No thanks to you Matches. I got it from your clue :)
Oh no - Carlee's clue - sorry. Thanks Carlee
ok... here is an example... in canada.. we have a tradition in policy ( particularly education) that our first nations people are only smart enough to get a high school degree.. and the language of policy still reflects that... but with social media.. artists, television shows, pod casts, you tube, hip hop artists, and authors are challenging those ideas with their artifacts and proving ed policy wrong... they have their own ideas about education and what that means... and sooner or later those ideas become more mainstream challenging the stereotypes
Tired - going to leave my final 16 words til tomorrow. Enjoy your days everyone. Hugs Sprite and others.
no problem lizlin... ( and after that am getting my coffee and tossing in a load of laundry...brb
right! Thanks so much, carlee. Now I have an id4 of what you are doing. Sounds very interesting. Not an easy topic.
night night Liz, sleep well *hugs*
I'd better go to, lots of cleaning up to do, grin. Have a wonderful day/night, all of you.
Sleep well, liz.
ar
*gives sprite a cup of coffee*
too late, she's gone
oh you're welcome...is a fun topic.. get to rip apart lots of fun old PC artifacts
phantom: receive
i just need one more R and it is not that, haha
which one hurshy?
i don't know i just have 27/28
but lots other words to find
okie kokie then

good morning friends
Hi Trif. You had a wonderful evening last night?
SO MUCH FUN scrabbler....they let us "help" raise the sails - let me tell you, there were eight adults hauling that sail with all our might, and it was HARD
boston looked AMAZING from the water, and the weather was perfect, and the people were (mostly) nice, and it was just lovely
The ship is beautiful!
I have a tendency to uh, wander, so I was checking out all the nooks and crannies, above and below board. It was so wicked pissah
Did you switch into pirate mode?
we sailed past the island where they filmed shutter island - creepiest place on earth. Seriously, scary as hell
Or Mayflower traveler?
Is it inhabited?
the city was golden last night. Everyone was loving the summer vibe, kids playing in fountains, musicians everywhere....we ended up in this little underground bar with ice cold craft beers (I dont' drink beer, but whatever) and a couple of guys playing guitar and ripping amazing covers. it was such a great night
AND it was July 11th, i.e. 7/11, so we even got free slurpees!
A golden experience which leaves you feeling high.
yes, the ship has a live aboard crew, but you can also private charter it for groups of up to 12. which I am TOTALLY doing once I win the lottery
Yes, life will be easier once we win the lottery.
#lifegoals
Lives of the Rich & Famous, featuring Trifioso and Valentine.
hahaha.....
Later we are having a birthday party/picnic for our sweet litte Jax, now 3 years old.
he is absolutely beautiful, scrabbler! I adore the photos you have been posting. three is a pretty good age, I find....
they are so full of fun, and wonder still.
My favorite age group = 2.5-6---exuberant, candid, profound, full of wonder. He is an absolute joy to be with.
tbh, I am not so in love with 4. tend to be a bit too obstinate for me.
I wish he, and you, could see this fountain they installed for kids in a park in boston. Let me see if I can find a link....
Too many kids become sassy and bratty by 7 or so, although I still see delightful 7-9 year olds in my office. I dislike adolescents, unless they are really good kids, but those kids are not the ones that need me as much.
I think Featherbee posted pics last summer when she visited with her family and met Pam.
hello again
Howdy, MLF
Hi MLFAN
hi cross and scrab
cross do you see my icon?
yup, the bowl of soup
you showed it to me yesterday:)
yeah I ut mlfan is here on it as all I had to do was copy a code after I put the text on it
Hi Crossy
it is nice:)
Howdy, Scrabby. i saw your new bike;)
Help with ov8? I know the first 4 letters.
emoted too much...
thanks cross not quite what I had in my head though
hi pen
that's a clue, not a personal statement... ;o)
to give a show onstage
found it!
http://tinyurl.com/nodrz3l
I see my problem. I was looking for an ov8, not ov7. TY.
imagine jax in that!!!
to be honest, we wanted to play too!
hi all...
howdy, penquis
That is awesome, Trif! Jax would be squealing with delight.
Hi penquis
the Europeans were KILLING us - they just send their kiddos in naked, it was soooooo funny
Haha--so liberated and liberating.
the kids were all so funny - like little trout
our European friends are often less uptight about the little things in life;)
Pure joy!
lol crossy, I see what you did there!
'morning, babblers
hi welki...
I fund es8 and 9 by myself. *doing a curtsy*
As a child i used to swim buck-naked in lake Nippising:)
Hi welki
go scrabbler!
crossy, I still do that.
i care too much about wildlife to swim nude :)
ty for es 8 and 9, scrabbs
I am leaving tomorrow morning for 6 days in the Adirondack Mtns, so there will be lots of skinnydipping!
valentine and I visited his son last summer, who lives with 4 other 20somethings in Vermont. when I saw the state of their shower, I opted for the creek out back to bathe :)
lol, the fish will just have to avert their eyes when i swim;)
ladies, shield your children's eyes!
well, there's that - and the effect on the water table
lol, water levels rise all over when i swim:)
Archimedes principle.
Good choice, Trif.
I love love love swimming nudie. the coven and I do it every 4th of july in our family's pond. we call it the "moon light swim"
more of the displacement principle;)
I am back
now, now, water levels rise when EVERYONE swims - no body shaming!!!
I would do it every night in the summer, Trif!
me too!
Our levels, btw are back to their old place of 15 years ago!! yaaa! for the longest time we were 1-5 meters down in many areas
EG4?
Are their leeches? Once I came out of a lake and had tiny leeches on me. Ugh.
speaking of things that swim - tertiare and I had to stop on our street this morning, and help a little turtle buddy across. I was really happy, as it was a juvenile spotted turtle, and I hadn't seen one in our neighborhood before
not in our pond, scrabbler
Good for you. I rescued a painted turtle a few weeks ago.
I love our little terrapin friends
eg + I am a word n**d, MLFAN.
they always act so fierce, and they just kill me. walk up behind them and its game over.
thanks scrab
wife and i had to shoo two snapping turtles the size of a tire rim off the road the other day--they did not go quietly:)
But the snapping turtles are nasty.
they were
grabbed one safely and it started peeing all over the place:( all the while trying to get a bite of me
I once used my kayaking paddle to lift up a snapper and get him across the road.
no, they are pretty much a**holes, but they still make me laugh
Yikes, Crossy.
Could I please have a clue for ve6?
Told the one that i have never had turtle soup , but i may be convinced to give it a go!
the first one that is
My only ve6 = to nix something
crossy orders turtle soup, "And make it snappy!"
I bet it was shell-shocked crossy
okay, I changed my icon to a pic of us on the boat last night....let me know if it's too big
lol
Hi Jes and rurur
Thanks Scrabbler, but that's the one I have.
the snapping beak was one thing, but at that size, they have some serious claws!
past tense of the same root word
And I found the past tense ve6/30
But I will help you look for ve6/33, Jes.
thanks!
fruits and ve***ables + vowel
Ve6 little brocoli
ty, scabby
And at 118/85 I must get going with my day. I have to shop for my mom and visit with her. I leave for the mountains tomorrow.
thanks much!
have such a wonderful time, scrabbler, and be careful!
have a great time, scrabby!
You have a bunny sitter scrabs?
Yes, a neighbor will come here twice daily to make salads for the bunnies and check them.
My Mom has an open sore on her toe (circulatory problems) as of yesterday which has maxed out my stress now. I will check her today. My sister will step up while I am gone but I am terrified of an infection developing. Grrrr.
ugh - and on a part of the body that's normally covered. hard to keep clean, hard to treat if it does become infected. she's so lucky to have you as her daughter, scrabs
i am sure your sister will do a good job. Even a caregiver must have a break now and then .
But I will be away for 6 days and am laready feeling guilt.
Don't you need time as well. fretting about what MAY be will only spoil your time off.
you'll leave detailed instructions, your sister is not a moron - your mom will be fine
I am trying to remain calm and will see Mom soon.
there you go. get out there and have fun, and come back refreshed.
I feel like a thicky... having a hard time with the th's

Thanks, just found it, Fini
ty Kate
congrats bubba!
yw bicon - hello!
re6...re + to challenge the authority of
ty
Being from the south, the chicken fried thing immediately made me think of chicken fried steak : D
what exactly is that?
Steak, coated like fried chicken and deep fried.
Just thinking of the fat and calories. Must be good
It's very good, but one of those things better off eaten once in a great while.
Coming from one who eats mustand on frieds and everything else
Up here they add gravy to it as well, is that the proper way to serve it Molly, or is that just a Northern thing?
never heard of that bichon.. mayo, but not mustard...
It's a NY tristate thing. I grew up in Brookly and Long Island
Mr. Bich is repelled by the whole thing. I say donkey to rhyme twith monkey
I've seen chicken fried steak served with gravy. Hey, the more fat and calories the better, right? : D
I see, ty for the info. Interesting local food variations.
LOL, yes! bring that heart atttack-on-a-plate this way! I've never had it, but it sounds decadent :)
Bich, I know people who dip fries in mustard. I also know people who dip them in mayo. Some people even dip them in milkshakes.
Well Kate, sometimes a person can only eat so much yogurt and quinoa.
Ewwwww... way to ruin a good shake!
Very true Molly... I would not be happy eating too much of that healthy stuff all the time.
woot! found a 9 all by myself!!!
congrats kate
my husband and I had quinoa and brown or dirty riced with flavoring a few days ago. it was sticky and dry .. nasty
ty MLF.. it's such a RARE occurrence... had to blow my own horn ;)
molly I love dipping fries in vinegar or tzeki sauce
lol, best served as cow fodder maybe?
or dressing
and I have dipped fries in ice cream as well
fries and ice cream... different, what kind?
whatever I am eating at the time
:o
i just love French fries kate lol
me too, especially with vinegar or gravy and vinegar...or chili fries.. or cheesy fries...or
oh yes with gravy too:)
cheesy fries yes but not a chili person here
anyone like poutine?....french fries with melted cheese turds and gravy...
:D quite the epicureans, aren't we, lol
LMAO..... love the typo pen!!!!!!!!!!! Hi
em...do you mean cheese Curds?
they are actually cheese curds, but they have always been called cheese turds in my family because of their shape...
owl that is what i was wondering lol
<---- still laughing....
Is it brown gravy or cream gravy?
who cares bzz:)
no typo, kate....just what we call them...."crottes" in french...not sure of the spelling...
brown gravy
bzz both are good
brown gravy on poutine...
i tasted cheese curds and liked them. not enough to seek them out, but i did like them.
I'm more of a cream gravy girl myself.
<--has never had poutine
Cheese turds is priceless : D
they have more flavor the more you chew them.....similar taste to mozzarella, i think....
Poutine is a French-Canadian delight that has migrated to the rest of Canada

i never liked poutine, but i do like cheese turds...
It is not the most visually appealing food, for sure - but the flavour more than makes up for it
Doesn't everyone like cheese?
Belonging to the select few

hello Babblers. enjoying the food discussion. I have noticed myself that food that is out of my experience often looks like something someone threw up LOL. Poutine I do not care for but those who do really seem to like it.
hi sw :)
True Swmbo, that is a good way of putting it...food that is out of your experience. I'm sure those who find monkey brain a delicacy would wonder why some of us balk at the very idea.
exactly
Well put!
steamers look disgusting to some people...yummy!
what is a steamer?
What is more horrifying to look at than a lobster?
steamed clams....eaten with melted butter...
yes, the first person to eat a lobster must have been hungry!
lol!
they were grabbing at claws I think Penq
HI ruru :)
good morning
ha...
didn't have a n'ocean about what they were doing, ru....
I think foods like shark fin soup and turtle soup should be banned
I would think it'd be a real bisque to be a lobster on the east coast

i am going to clam up now.....get back to knitting...bbl to finish...
sorry.. I can't kelp it either penq

npr news item this morning about deforestation free palm oil. doesn't everything we raise do something harmful to someone?
or something?
yes..
true TO, it is such a delicate balance - it doesn't take much to throw everything out of kilter.
we are a very wasteful society unfortunately
it is a delicate balance indeed.
was all set for a long chat and babble and now someting has come up and I have to go. Bah! Humbug!
come back soon sw...
bye, swinny
my eyes need a break. I've become babbleblind gonna poof for a while and get some chores done. bbl
Hiyas, Kiddos!
hello judi
we missed a bunch of food chat
Just as well. I had brunch recently. Quite full.
So, how are things going for you, Ruby?
I feel optimistic about my cancer but pessimisttic about my husband
Hmmm. What is the diagnosis on your cancer?
Hi ruby. How goes it
it's metastasized breast cancer (25 yrs old) IN MY STERNUM AND RIB, BUT MY ONCOLOGIST SAYS IT'S TREATABLE
sorry, didn't mean to shout
S'okay. Wow. Scarey, but good to know they can treat it. Chemo? Radiation? Surgery? All of the above?
I've been watching the Tour, so it's not bad
so 6/27, pls
possibly just pills and shots for the pain. Maybe chemo, but I don't mind
so6...so + whatso....you do, to the least of my brothers
nifty clue, thanks, Molly
ty
Well, that doesn't sound too bad. Starting treatment right away I imagine?
I'll know next week and hopefully it will be soon. I'm tired of the pain
So Ruby, why pessimistic about your husband?
Sorry to hear not so good news on your husband's part. Sorry if I'm making you repeat any of your latest news.
He's getting worse very fast and it is very hard to get him to cooperate with a care situation. How did you manage it, Molly?
Well, I did not have a live in situation with my Dad. Once it was clear that he couldn't live unassisted, and that my Mom couldn't manage his care, my sister and I got him into a place that could care for him.
I'm taking him to see the local place tomorrow and for a total evaluation on Thursday. There's a twice-a-week day care possibility, if I can get him in
As for cooperating, he was VERY resistant to it at first. But we had to get him somewhere that he would be safe and that would give him the best treatment possible.
Is a nursing home an option yet, Ruby?
The local nursing home has a day car plan but they may not accept him because of his poor language skill
I don't know Ruby. My first reaction to that is that it is unacceptable. He should not be denied care because of his language ability.
I've been in my studio for about 30 minutes and he has telephoned me about 10 times and been down here twice and to the kitchen 4 times while I was cleaning up
?? That sounds odd. Nursing homes here a full of residents who cannot speak due to stroke or other disability.
You're right, I hadn't thought of it that way
Obviously he's still mobile.
He is smothering me and sapping my energy
People with declining mental abilities become child like. The kind of behavior you just described is typical of a child, who needs lots of attention when their caregiver is otherwise occupied.
Like the kid who starts acting out when Mom is on the phone. (Mothers everywhere know this ploy)
True, Molls. Maybe he would like some Crayolas and a coloring book?
At least I've started the wheels turning because this will not be an easy summer for me
Ruby, it is a hard decision to make. But when you have run out of options, and I think you have due to your health concerns, it becomes time to move someone to an assisted care facility. No one wants to do it, but it needs to be done nonetheless.
I have to agree with Molly, Ruby.
I agree and am trying to get his daughter to come back and help me with this
Where does his daughter live?
Oh Ruby, I feel bad for you. His daughter has been there, your son has been there and it seems they are not very helpful. Maybe the daughter will figure out a way to manage this, this time.
California
and I have to pay for her ticket!
Is she that strapped for cash, or she just doesn't want to commit herself?
Good night ladies and thank you for your advice
Okay, Ruby. Get some rest! {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}
She's 65 and doesn't work; I don't think she'd come here otherwise
On that note, the eyelids are demanding a nap. Off I go. *POOF*

I can rustle up a gin for you
And ... guess I'll be in the PB too for a time...

Dammit! I thought I was ordering a double gin. Seems I said 'chin' by mistake....
my sister does not like the beach
Luv, please don't forget us -- we're ready with fake cigars for the blessed event!
haha, Soodle.
I lived in a beach resort town for years and sadly it ruined the whole idea of going to the beach for me:(( leave it to the tourists now.
why crossy, too many tourist or just got bored with it
Well, for me, the beach became work for four years. it takes the magic away
I would love to live in a beach town 6 months of the year. maybe the gulf coast of Florida.
You get bored with it as well
oh, that is a different story then, crossy
Spent those years renting summer cottages to tourists and dealing with everything that entails
I grew up at the beach and still love it. Now we have a beach tent
it is a treat for me since I only go a few times in the summer
what beach do you go to bichon?
oh, crossy, that would not have been fun for long
Rockaway, southern shore of Long Island
my grandparents used to have homes at the jersey shore and I helped to clean up after visitors/guest. ugh, it was not fun
Nope. fixing busted toilets, broken fridges, cleaning up blood, broken glass, beer bottles all over the place, dirty diapers tossed everywhere. When Toronto comes north to relax, they forget lifes common rules.

hello friends. Nice to see you back cosdem!
at any rate, be6 is a group of ungulates.
hi Bugs!
and Hi Kate too. It is so nice to see so many people here.
and a strong Canadian contingent too :)
hubby broke a rib, we think. It's painful to watch him because he is having spasms.
hasn't seen a doc?
nah, we're debating. we would have to drive 50 miles, or go to the emergency room, or wait until tomorrow.
it may help to hold a pillow against chest... reduces the movement during inhalation. you really should get an xray, incase anything else is affected...
oooh jane. I had broken ribs and they hurt a lot because they can't be stablized properly.
problem is, they could pierce a lung or something else valuable in there so a doctor and an xray are VERY important.
ERs are usually a bit quieter at dinner time.
found an ungulate
Harp, please take him in. {{ hugs }}
hi ch1212. long time no see
Can I please wait until tomorrow?
He doesn't want to go.
hi chch
found venison
does he know what kind of a risk he is taking by waiting until tomorrow? that may change his mind
concencus seems to be take him in.
(sigh ... men, she says, sounding completely sexist.) Hi Bug, and all.
Maybe at least call the doctor or whoever is on call this weekend, and run it by them?
hi ch :)
jane... doesn't really matter if he wants to. is the ER far?
good compromise ch1212
yes.
He's a big wimp because he never has any pain. He was amazed at how much I knew about moving, etc. when you are in pain.....
But this is truly bothering him.
remind him it will get worse during the night because you move in your sleep and that sets it off again. it is also when punctures could happen before he fully wakes up
Harp, I think it's okay if you call the doctor and say you are needing some information and reassurance, because he wants to wait, and you're concerned. That way you get the info you need, and if the doc says he needs to come in now, you can hand the phone to your beloved.
I sure wish you both well in whatever decision you make. A broken rib does hurt
but a punctured lung hurts more
or a torn pericardium
so 6 please
ER rooms don't charge more on weekends do they? I can see how a doctor might not like it but an ER should be good.
Most insurance companies have a number you can call to speak to a nurse for free.
nan.... and they lived happily **** after
No, it's mostly the hassle. It takes 5 hours by the time they see you.... I'm going to call a fellow cyclist who is also a nurse.
ty kate
not if you are really hurt jane. They do it on a triage basis
yw
There you go, harp. You get the info you need to make an informed decision.
:( he's off on another ride at the moment....
when in doubt it's better to be safe than sorry
seems to me that bugs is/was a nurse too.
I'll check in later to see how it's going, harp - please keep us posted. Also, to see if Luv's new grandchild is 'out' yet (she's waiting at the hospital).
Sheesh.... The only reason I'm still here is to hear that Luv's first grand-baby arrived safely!!! Still waiting....

Well..... Daughter of Soodle hit the town last night, as was expected. What wasn't expected was that 4 friends accompanied her home in the small hours. So, I had breakfast organised for 4, but there were actually 8. It was a case of the loaves & fishes.... But nobody went hungry.
I love it when loaves and fishes happens.
if anyone could pull it off, I'd put my money on you every time Soodle

I think a lot of the scents in wax and candles smells fake.
I have only found two that work for me. pumpkin pie spice an wild blueberry
My poor nephew. When he got married, his wife's bridesmaids decorated their honeymoon suite and put lots of candles in there for atmosphere. My nephew said the candles smelled like dirty socks.
why would anyone do that lol.. ruins the mood... hmm maybe thats why
No, I think it was just that they never smelled the candles burning before they put them out around the room.
ah yeah
My Ask Jeeves Facebook post is quite a hit!
what did you ask Jeeves?
presumably how to get Barmy Fotheringay-Phipps out of his engagement... or something along those lines
hmm. I feel I am missing something vital there
I didnt ask him anything. I just posted asking why no one asks him anything anymore. poor guy
Rats. I thought it was what cucumbers are the best to thinly slice for tea sandwiches.
well jes, if you don't get my comment then you ARE missing something vital - the works of one Mr. PG Wodehouse.
Cos, probably because Ask Jeeves no longer exists. It's now Ask.com
Hi all - hi Cos - lovely to see you back here again

Boils and darkness too?
much later, when stephen fry and hugh laurie did their show, it all came back to me. hilarious.
I agree Harry - really funny
Fry and Laurie are comedy genius.
I think they're both brilliant
I always hoped that Fry would end up guest starring on House, MD, but it never happened.
I never thought of that - it would
would've been very good.
when I was a kid, there was a show "wodehouse playhouse" on pbs...it wasn't nearly as funny
I saw that too.

pierogies are different than knishes.... mashed potatoes (with bacon, onion, cheeese) in a half circle piece of dough - similar to pie dough.. then boiled to cook and if you likje, then panfried in butter with more onions and bacon, seerved with sour creeam - Ukranian dish
<---imbibing a delish cotes du rhone
yummy!
got me some red plonk here...
(perogies can also be deep fried) - never heard of bbqing them..but bet they'd be good!
Knishes are the same thing Kate.
oh... my bad, I thought knishes were more like a lump of potato pancake.
Dough covered mashed potatoes with assorted additions, like onion, meats and cheese.
that's latkes kate
Potato pancake = Latke
i love these too
sounds fattening. (looks as semi-svelte figure)
at
yes...i've had those nummy in my tummy :)
when I lived in Amish country PA I went to a county fair in Bloomsburg and they had delicious potato pancakes
we knew you'd figure it out kate.. sooner or latke
lol, thanks ruru...
Amish food is the best. We have an Amish market here and the smell of the food cooking knocks me out every time I walk in the front door.
Thats the thing I miss most about living there. That and seeing bears in the wild on a regular basis was pretty cool
give me a buxom woman in an Apron and I'm all in
I thought bears were in Chicago Cos?
only on North Halsted.
*rim shot*
:D
<---stuffed
just to be clear ruru.... the buxom woman is in the apron .... or you're in the apron?
<--- passes cos the alka-seltzer
ah just in time ty
sounded like a wonderful feast... canyou put leftovers in the PB please? dying for a taste
already there... plenty of shrimp left
ty, though not fond of shrimp - hoping for steak, asparagus and perogies :)
oh plenty of these left.. love leftovers at midnight
I can see I will have to bake some brownies - there's no chocolate in there at all! thank goodness, cos! I'm hungry all of a sudden :)
there's strawberries and short cake
<faints with excitement>
Im just waiting for the bad news from him ;-)
what bad news?
that you are wahsing the dishes?
oh idk he hasnt been to work today or yesterday and his days off are tues/thurs.. hmmmm makes me wonder
ah... so the nice dinner was a prelude to the bad news - smoothing the way a bit? He may have traded shifts for some reason.
I doubt it. His car isn't here. He left it at a friend's house. Ryan and I talked today and when I go back to work it's time for us to move.
Damn! Well, I hope it's not as bad as you may be imagining.
Would be his 6th job he lost this year so not exactly surprised.
Ouch! sorry cos, I didn't know about any of this. didn't mean to open a can of worms. Is that why you mentioned that you two will be moving soon?
afternoon everyone :)
yep .. plus we need our privacy. i would like to spend time in the living room rather than be in my bedroom all the time
The problem is we also have Red Dog.. a massive dog with an even bigger heart... this place has a nice big yard for her... so.. idk
hello mrp!
oh cos, having to move is icky... can you two get a play of your own?
((hugs)) cos :)
we can afford it but its a hassle.
my car is nearly paid off .. (a year early) so we can afford more in rent soon.. we shall see.
Hi mrp :)
hi kate :)
back to look for 75 words ... and chat of course :))
moving costs an awful lot in initial layout too... is it really worth it? perhaps trim the budget in other places?
I have several friends who just refuse to live with flatmates... too many bad situations. one friend of mine is so keen on having a waterfront view, he takes in flatmates that end up causing a lot of problems. Latest one thinks she can come into his bedroom and ask for 'favours' LOL! whether is is alone or with someone. Just frightening!
probem is hes ryans brother so hes family which complicates things
that does put a crimp in things...
it'll get better once I go back to work and wont have to sit here all day all the time
yes, veryone needs at least a bit of "alone time".
2 1/2 months is just too long for vacation. 30 more days to go..
wow that is a long vaykay... why so long cos?
I must sign off now, very tired - long day ahead of me tomorrow. I'll see you tomporrow cos, try not to worry too much. niters mrp, sorry I couldn't stay any longer, the sleepies hit me rather suddenly.
I work for a school mrp class's out. no kids to supervise
ah!! summer holidays are very long in US
Ridiculous if you ask me.
The last school I worked in had a year-long calendar with only 4 weeks off in June. I loved it.
we have about 7 weeks off for our summer... december and january
so it is called the christmas holidays
I always think how strange it must be to have Christmas over summer but then I remember it must be strange for you to think about christmas during winter right?
I've had both cos, I love them both! Spent time in Europe and Canada during christmas. Just lovely
I need to experience that at least once
bbs. lunch time!
*wanders in to chog and looks for choclits*

Psssst.....hi stid!!!
hey jade!
8 now...
:)
how are you?
Taking a break from apartment hunting! Gotta move closer to Cierra's college, and it's proving difficult to find something.
that's rough
is it more expensive there?
Depends on where you look. Closer to the college, it's expensive!! But if you look in the outlying areas in the 'burbs....it's more manageable.
sounds normal
The apartment here is 95% packed already, in anticipation of the move...but now we just need a place to move into!! LOL.
that's good -- getting ahead of the game!
Exactly! As soon as we get in somewhere.....we're ready to go...
fw
wow. not used to finishing bigger grids like this
yay!!!
YAY stidmama

Hello Bugsaw

cos -- there was an interesting picture we saw at a museum on Friday. It was a black and white print of a stream, and there were hand-signing "letters" at the bottom that spelled out "stream" I thought of you!
I did too stid, think of cosdem I mean

i love b/w pictures of nature
it was a lovely block-print style ... :-D I figured you would be thinking the same thing, bugs -- did you notice we were all finishing each others' thoughts? LOL
