I think the overall point is that clues should be clues, or hints, not another way of spelling out the word. Most people play this game to test their ability to find words on their own. Some people just arrive in chat and expect clues to be handed to them. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Well, "most" may have been presumptive. However, the point of the game, as stated in the HELP section is...to list as many words of the highest point value as YOU can find among the random assortment of letters in the cube grid. Not as many words as other people can find for you.
that's kind of true.. since the game is mostly played by lurkers we don't know how they are playing
Like I said, there are no rules. You can play any way you want. It depends on what kind of a challenge you are interested in.
And presumably they are playing the way they want to, without the chat clues. I appreciate them in all forms, thoughtful, silly, banal, etc.

i just don't like unsolicited clues....
It's been asked time and time again for people to not blurt out clues without them being asked for. That never seems to stick. People who want to play without being "spoiled" by clues have to turn chat off until they are done.

Nope, I'm not a rules person. I work around the "turn chat off if it doesn't work for you" philosophy. I'm just reiterating what has been said here before.
However, I don't think it is unfair for people to ask that clues not be blurted out when they haven't been asked for.
Sounds like a good approach. But since this is a public website (and un-moderated [sp?!] as far as I can tell), it's a tough proposition.

This is a game to fill in the 'can't be bothered to do the ironing, hang out the washing, have a shower, clean the loo time.. the alternative to the Times crossword ( who on earth can be bothered with that?) ..
This site is not moderated and anything goes. So people can make requests, but they seldom stick. Used to be there was an understanding that there would be no clues or stats given in the first hour that the grid was up. That has gone by the wayside.

I'm curious what you mean by 'understanding.' How do you achieve consensus amongst potentially 1000's of anonymous participants? It's unlikely.

i always lurk when i start a new grid.....it's fun just to find as many words as i can....that's the part that is enjoyable to me....but i am a little O-C, so if I start, i have to finish... ;o)
And there are people who don't care about rules who just put the words right into the chat log... But, they don't want anyone to spell out any clues.

I think words get posted at a time where the person asking for a clue is not getting the hints and clues from everyone and it's pointless to continue to clue. I have seen a lot of people do that.. not just one person
5:56 and 5:57 posts include words in the grid: tu 4/5 and un 6/30 from the person who does not approve of spelling out the clues.
hah!...i don't believe using ordinary words in conversation is giving away clues.....using un 6 instead of a word in conversation is giving away words.....

everyone does it.. and almost everyone posts words in the chat by accident. I think you just have an agenda
i don't bother to asterisk parts of words used in a conversation and i never will....
it's equivalent to posting unsolicited clues....i won't do that....
In a large grid, it's almost impossible to chat without occasionally using a grid word by mistake!

For me, in the end, it's a game. I really like the virtual people I chat to and I've been lucky enough to meet 4 or 5 really lovely babble people.

2048 - doubling game - moving tiles with the numbers 2 & 4 to reach a total of 2048 / 4096 etc.

I downloaded that but haven't really played with it :)
I purchased a coloring book a couple of months ago.
That looks fun - I have an adult colouring book, which I use sometimes.

Just downloaded colorfy - thanks for the recommendation. I'll give it a go. Kate, there are a few babble players on jigidi - I've got a few puzzles there, jbp has loads, sprite has quite a few and crossy and Zooz too.
