Thank you lickety!

hello everyone
hi nan

WTG Diz
Thank you likety... night all! se you tomorrow!
this is babblet city
city
not finding that ja
Nan it is a mineral.
Thanks diz - that was enough of a clue for a good guess :)
mmm - wondering if it ends i
with the usual mineral ending?
finished
well done ruru - just got 100 down and crashing
night nan
am giving up for the night, head is not cooperating
goodnight all
good morning all
Morning! How's the flu?
definitely on its way out :) Less coughing this morning. And you, how are you feeling?
Not bad - I shall venture out today - perhaps see if I can get my hair trimmed and coloured. I also need to go to the bank. Isn't life grand ;)
lol. well, getting your hair done is always a treat, isn't it?
Yeah :) I'm finding this a challenging little grid today
Phantom : Tortoise.
I have 100 words in so far, still going strong. But I can see a brick wall coming up in the near future!
*hugs zooz* Hello dear man! How are you today? And how are the parents faring?
good phantom, btw
I have 101 words - I have the 8 but no 7s
Hello *hugs back* I am well thank you :-) Parents are doing well as can be expected lol
I have one 7 and not the 8, lol.
Glad to hear the flu is starting to die out!
good to hear, zooz. Your parents are lucky to have such good and caring kids. Makes their time as elderly people a lot better.
I have only just started so only have 20 words :-)
my 7 is or7/28. Can I trade it for the stats for the 8, please?
They are nice to be around, Sprite. mother over caring lol father very dry sense of humour so never a dull moment lol
lovely, zooz :)
I already have the 8, Sprite.It is JA 8/65
thanks zooz :)
Welcome.
ah, a mineral of course
Thats the one!
so that is where you have your own dry sense of humour from, zooz?
That's*
I guess so, sprite lol
:D
Made any new jigidi puzzles?
my halloween pumpkins were my last one
Ooh I must take a look after this!
it was rather evil, grin.
Oh you mean it is very large!!!
published it in 3 sizes. The smallest is around 100 pieces
Take a look at this small puzzle I did a while ago, Sprite. It did make me chuckle!
http://tinyurl.com/q2yxn8t
I did as in I completed not that I made the puzzle lol
lolllll oh I like it
I do like the joke type puzzles but they never seem to do them in a larger size.
I only ever do the 400+ puzzles so I hardly ever see the small ones
I do not mind the larger ones if I am in the mood for them. so I have a few in my in progress section. most of the time I do the smaller ones.
Can anyone give me a nudge on any 7...it's bugging me and I'd like to have at least one before I shower and start my day...
I am lucky to have a huge screen with high resolution. that makes it easier to do big ones
matty, or7, those who talk a lot
Oh, thank you - I had the verb but missed the people who do it
babble blindness :)
et7 a kind of alcohol
brb, potty break
cooee and g'day from me. {{hugs}} sprite. {{hugs}} matty. {{hugs}} zooz
Hello, Rose :-)
*Hugs Rose back*
How are you keeping, Rose?
not too bad. knee giving me gyp tho. i pushed myself into a car seat with it two days ago. it just won't settle.
the question then arises. how do i drive a car if i can't jam the brakes on?
ooh not very nice. Hope you are taking some kind of painkiller for it.
Well I suppose it would be best if you didn't as it would not be safe to do so.
did yesterday. trying to stay off them. hence i have had a very quiet day.
good evening my dear rose *hugs*
sister has arrived to take me shopping. got to go. Happy babbling every one!
bye zooz, have a lovely day!
{{hugs}} dearest. i saw th4 you are feeling a little better again today.
enjoy your day zooz. xoxox
yes I am def winning the fight now. Feeling lots better.
your flowers are still going strong, ro4! Very pretty.
wow!! the florist must have used her freshest.
oh yes, for sure
fireflies
WTG SPRITE!!!!
thanks darling :) *hugs* to you all. Rose, sleep well and I hope tomorrow will be with less pain. And the rest of you, have a lovely day!
xoxox sprite. i hope you have a lovely day.
Anyone here?
Good morning, just got here.
Hi Sukee
Hi scrabbler.
Ooh, snow is coming tomorrow.
There are flurries in our forecast too.
I just paid my snowplow guy for the season. $350
I guess we can't put it off forever.
I am ready to snowshoe and cross-country ski, so bring it on.
I'm more of a hermit in the winter :)
May I have a gentle hint for the AF6 before I go out to get my hair cut?
I will look with you, matty.
Hi all - sorry, also don't yet have the af 6.
Hi Liz
Good morning, everybody :)
And Crosshair of the North!
Hi Crossy, Liz, Matty
$350. for the season is a very good price, Scrabby:)
Hi crossy - a new wolf :)
Either $350 for the season or $15 per plow. I gamble and pay per season.
Hiya all - just a flying visit (I have 47 words left) before running errands
Can't believe that you have snow already, scrabbs - my sympathy.
Glad to see you're feeling better Matty
It's moved onto a cough. That'll last days (mind you, I don't help myself in that regard)
was temporary, Liz. I lost my old one for a bit. it has already been changed and should be back to normal one today or tomorrow.
It'll be good to see it again - I remember you saying that it would be a permanent icon.
We did have some brief snow and more is coming but will melt, then real winter will slam us for 3 months, because I live in snow country, across the valley from a ski center.
lol, Liz. We have already plowed once, and I am personally ready to pounce on winter. My snowshoes are ready and waiting :)
Right, I'm going to get my shoes on and get me out to Twickenham. See ya all laters :)
I don't miss snow - except for seeing it newly fallen. In London it always turned to slush and ice pretty quickly and was a nightmare driving in it at times.
I'll stick with our current temps - mid 20s :) Suits me just fine.
Have a good day, Matty
af6 is weird = af + a preposition + a modifier (I am ** tired right now) + an indefinite articile
I believe they have snow in the Vancouver area today, none here yet.
Had a hard frost yesterday, is pouring rain today, so it is up and down, but we usually have the slopes open for Christmas break
Thanks, Scrabbs
Thanks for the AF6 - right...poof!
Snow in Vancouver is pretty unusual, isn't it?
af6 definition = foot and mouth disease
No, they get some every year.
And, they do have a couple of mountains :)
morning all and thx for af6, scrabs :-)
OK - I thought the climate there was more temperate, except in the mountains around.
Hi Une
Bon jour, Une
There is a ski resort close to the city too.
On Grouse Mountain?
Of course, it doesn't last long.
But, I spent a winter there and it was mostly rainy and damp.
Same when i was there in the winter - we went out of town to ski. My dad worked there for a couple of years.
Gotten to nbt but I seem to be stuck now.
I am stuck and not nearly as far as you.
If you need some clues I might be able to help - but I'm very short on 7 letter words.
no shorter than moi -- I have none! LOL
I have no 7s.
I have 32 words left but only 1 x 7 :(
Going to make some breakfast, will be back.
later, sukee
I'll probably be gone, so have a good day.
And I must get ready for work.
HAGD scrabs :-)
Have a good day.
gm, everyone! clue for the ra5/20?
Sorry - another word that I'm still missing!
ra + 3/4 of je4/9
Thanks, Une
yw :-)
Leaving 20 for tomorrow. Enjoy your days.
ty unea
hey dawg . . . yw:-)
sweet sleeps, Liz! Hiya, Unea! and tadone!! ty for the clue! off to get ready for work have a great day/evening/night!
congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!
125 and taking a break -- BBL :-)
Thursday greetings, Babble buds!
hi judi
Hello everyone
Prayers needed my friends...my dad is on his way to the hospital. Please and thank you.
sending tons of positive thoughts your way, car!
Sending prayers STAT! Is this an emergency, Car?
He asked to go...this is worrisome
Well, he's being cautious. That's a good thing. Best to get it checked pronto.
He's had a bit of the flu, but he sounded OK on the phone yesterday. And there was a "urine issue"...let's leave it at that.
Hmm. Well, keep positive thoughts. It may well be something very minor.
Off to the post office. BBS.
HAGD and thank you!
4th column a?
Pond scum, MLF>
And - one step above Basso.
I have the water scum as al 5/1 coming from another a?
and no al for the 4th column
4th column - AF 6/27 - clued earlier
all I am finding in google is a co word?
Scrabs clued it at 5:59 - didn't remember that it was that long ago - af6 is weird = af + a preposition + a modifier (I am ** tired right now - just first letter) + an indefinite articile
ao 5/10 & 6/18
AF 6 - a foot and mouth disease
body part car
No, i have them...was giving clues for that A
car u gave the ao words
I'm so confused. Yes, they are from that A in the fourth column.
car I have the 4th column blank
oops
I must be asleep though I aha those
ty car
AF 6 and the two AO words are from the 4th column
I still don't know the foot disease
Me either...can't make that one work
No one does, MLF. Don't feel bad about it.
car I googled it an no idea
the preposition is throwing me off
the whole clue is throwing me off
look by the F - what preposition (two letter) begins with a letter next to the F
to, but then I can't use the O in the ending.
you don't use the O again
is part of it not skinny?
after the preposition use only the first letter of the modifier and then use the one letter indefinite article.
71 left and this grid is officially annoying me.
no mlf
hi judi I cant even get nbt
Hi all

Hey TO
Seen any good acts lately, TO?
um, yes, tons of zydeco, django django, and seeing Beausoleol omorrow.
will hoge playing here on saturday
Vacationing in New Orleans?
no. we dance, we bring the acts up here.
Ahhh. I was kidding about NOLA. :)
keith frank, rosie ledet, corey ledet, ruben moreno two weeks ago - two night of dancing
and wayne singleton
Not dancing music, but have you heard of Escondido? www.thebandescondido.com
Finally got the et7. Was looking for et + type of fuel, not et7 defined as a type of fuel. Whoops.
no, i will look them up. you know will hoge?
Even better, after getting the fuel, I thought, "Oh, good, now I can get the et7." Then the light bulb came on. D'oh!
you need coffee
Will Hoge's a hometown boy. Born and raised in the Nashville area. Saw him at the Ryman once. When he did an "Ain't No Sunshine" cover, he unplugged, walked to the front of the stage, and just belted it out with the acoustic. One of my favorite Ryman moments ever.
i really like him and am incredulous that he is not more well known.
his latest album is very good
He is around here. ;) Zach Brown band did his song "Even if it breaks your heart."
i am going to try to get him into musikfest this year. he played once wrong stage and wrong time/day. that music programmer was fired after that year
he has a following here as well. i was surprised.
phila was just voted best music city. not sure who the voters were but it is a vibrant scene
He actually got into a horrible, near death accident in 2008. His comeback is basically a miracle. They weren't sure he'd ever walk or play again, much less perform.
Hmm...Not sure about that poll of yours. If best music city isn't Nashville, I'd think it'd be Austin.
I demand a recount. Must have been a faulty chad. ;)
http://www.phillymag.com/ticket/2015/1\n1/11/philly-best-music-city/
we have a lot of hot national bands right now and the venues are very up close and personal. also ticket prices are power
Right. Ticket prices could get Nashville. We've had a lack of medium-sized venues until recently. That's hampers getting some acts.It also lends to more intimate concerts with bigger names.
we lost two small venues that did a lot of punk and grunge but gained the new Fillmore, which is medium sized 2,300.. Live Nation and AEG live are going head to head.
Alrighty. I've got to head out and get some work done. Check out Escondido. Let me know what you think. They're playing Philly December 8. http://www.thebandescondido.com/shows/
where?
Johnny Brenda's. Check here: http://www.thebandescondido.com/shows/
ooh, great small venue
see you later red
later!
Wait, did you ever listen to 10 out of Tenn stuff?
no is that a band?
oh they toured with lord huron! i love lord huron! see them if you can
It's a collection. I thought maybe I'd told you about them before. Started by Trent Dabbs and originally sponsored by Paste before Trent's wife moved to American Songwriter. 10 artists from Tennessee (Nashville) would tour and be each others' band. Pretty cool stuff. The guy from Escondido was one of them, Tyler James.
Lord Huron played here this summer. Free concert series. It was the one week I was out of town. So bummed. It was Lord Huron, Shakey Graves, and Elliot Root.
ooh great lineup.
catch you later! going to do some work
have you heard langhorne slim? you may like him
good morning, everyone
Also local now. :)

loved the poem in your profile Aussieme !
evening all! miss2bit's kindergarten picture in my profile. My little lady all grown up :-)
Hi dan - nice pic !
lovely lady !
tr 5/10, both of them, pls
I got another parent badge today - had to pick her up from the clinic at school with a bloody chin from a playground fall
A's Axed!
t + french king + consonant
TR5 likewhat the king sits on with diff last vowel
t + man's name + vowe;
*vowel
dan i think every person i know has a scar on their chin from a childhood fall :)
Dan - she's beautiful ;).
right blah, chin or forehead or...Ã
or both in my case, lol
lol
Dan, Miss2bit is gorgeous!
And smart too! (Just guessing :)
thanks all - yes of course trb :-)
not quite babbling yet, but perhaps soon :-)
she will soon enough I'm sure...
montreal, my scar is on my forehead just below my hairline..... Glass milk bottle met head.....
my chin is a result of a face plant onto a marble floor. Forehead was tripping over a bedspread and landing on the bedframe :P
mine too Aussieme ! mine's closer to my eyebrow... and it was a rusted, 4" nail...
ouch ouch ouch montreal and aussie!
i consider myself lucky...
I have one also by my left eye right in the outer corner, wait for it...... walked into a metal first aid box!!
Great picture of your daughter. Kindergarten? How did that happen?
oh aussie, that's irony for you
lol aussie
Sorry, I forgot the "2Bit" intro to my post.
i know what you mean montreal, i could have smashed all my teeth instead of 'just' needing four stitches
I know trb.... I swear, I couldn't believe it
you could have affected your eyesight...scary
it literally is about 2, maybe 3 cm from the corner of my left eye..... very scary when I did it
(applies to both montreal and aussie)
my bil, now deceased, wasn't so lucky: he lost an eye when he was 11...
oh dear...my former sil lost sight in one eye when she and a friend played with some darts (that they should not have had access to)
must go - bbl for last 12 - nice seeing you all - happy babblings and take care - "poof"
later montreal x
oh dear trb!
C's Conquered and E's Evicted
hi all.. hope I'm going to be on for the rest of the evening... power has been out here all day. 100+ KM/HR winds and rain.... projected to continue unabated until Saturday morning... lots of big old trees coming down on the power lines all over town...
bye montreall :)
Hey Kate
I have a childhood scar on chin - 4 stitches... tripped running across road due to excitement of winning a bunch of marbles and wanting to go home and show my dad my new trophies :)
HI aussie nice to see you!
and dan, if you're still here, lovely pic of l'il miss 2 bit!
my granmother lost an eye at 18.. bee under the blanket that goes under the saddle of the horse... it kicked her when bee stung horse....
Not good Kate
hi blah, molly, and bichon :)
no aussie, but it didn't stop her at all ...she even continued to ride.
cool!
she was great... at 70 she bought a pair of roller skates at a garage sale....skated all summer, then fell and broke her arm.... my uncles took her skates away after that, knowing her history...
Ah bless...... She sounds like an awesome Grandma!
she was my hero.. my globe-trotting granny...went everywhere - on her own! from the Galapagos to Russia to Egypt (3x)... practically nowhere she didn't go.
Wow! Love it!
F's Finished!
she used to book berths on ocean liners (cargo; not people)10 years in advance..most have a few nice cabins for paying passengers very cheap and it they brought her all over the world...in grand style, without all the hullaballo of a bunch of yahoos "cruising" - she liked the peace and quiet and the water...
hey kate! just catching up
you're tearing up this grid aussie! go, go, go! I've bored you enough with my granny stories...
hi again blah :) trying to catch upin the grid, just started..long way to go to the finish line yet...
not at all kate, it's always great to hear stories about strong and determined women of a certain age ;)
I hope your power stays on!
I do too... Scrabs will be getting the same weather, but a bit less wind I think... I'm right on the lake, winds are always higher here..
at least I have a gas stove, so won't starve or freeze...it's not actually that cold about 10C now, 5 overnight
keep the candles, matches and flashlights out just in case
My maternal grandmother was my greatest role model...closely followed by my great granmother who raised 5 kids during the height of the depression...
no flashlight, (actually no batteries) but now have candles at the ready....just hate reading by candlelight, I find it hard onhte eyes....the power can go out as soon as I finish the grid and I will jsut go to sleep....
G's Gone!
:D
(Grin)
and make sure your cell phone is fully charged. (In a pinch you could use the flashlight app on your cell.)
no cell phone
And make sure the vodka and lemonade are accessible too :D
oh kate, you luddite! :)
no, just poor and watching my pennies...
i know that feeling, haven't worked in almost 2 years and am too 'young' to retire
used to have, though I must say, i don't like the new touch screen ones...
it took me a while to get used to the touch screens. I loved my Blackberry with the keyboard.
I know the feeling blah... hard to get a real job after 45 or so...unless you're a "higher up type"
prefer keyboard... i have "fat fingers"
or well connected. I'm trying my best to avoid retail or waitressing...i don't think my body could take it
I applaud anyone who does not have a cell phone. People are WAY too addicted to those things.
me too... I wouldn't last a day at a Tim Horton's or McDonald's... I'd jump over hte counter and throttle the first stupid person that came in front of me...
you're right molly, there are times when they can be useful, but they have become like umbilicul for many...constantly checking them, fiddling with them. and it makes for a lot of rudeness in some public situations.
hah! same here, I've been advised that I do not have the temperament for anything involving customer service, lol
i much prefer working on my own...or with a small group at arm's length. very strong introvert...
clue for the last or5/12.....please
Yes, it's true some people are overly addicted. In my case, my landline is unreliable so I need the cell.
and no patience for people who are just a bit thick (yet all the patience in the world for someone with Down's syndrome etc..) go figure.
nvm .....I found it!
or5/12 - has to do with bones
sharing aeb? I don't have it yet...
sharing aeb? I don't have it yet...
I am a Care Assistant, I have heaps of patience
or just plain rude when they should know better.
good for you aussie! that is one of the most difficult and under-appreciated jobs in the world (and in canada/us VERY underpaid for what they do...
The beginning of "pedist" or "dontist" ...the or5
If one leg is shorter than the other one must wear an or5dic in one shoe.
We are here too Kate
ty blah and aeb! got it now ;)
I don't understand how people can pay so little for such an important job.. nad it's very hard on a body too. I know a few.. they all have back problems due to their jobs.
Most of us have back or shoulder problems
yes aussie, I agree. When my late mom was in a nursing home i was so impressed with the caregivers and how much they really cared and got to know the patients. The night my mom died, her primary nurse cried as much as i did.
I have cried for every single soul we have lost. Hard work, but just knowing that I can make a difference is well worth it
I hope all the families appreciate you Aussieme...
They do Kate, so do the people I care for
Absolutely aussie. My mom was lucid maybe 1/3 of the time but i know she felt well cared for. It is a special person that can do that and I appreciate it.
Aussie!
Annie!!!!!!!
Bless you trb.....
How wonderful to see you. How is your beautiful Georgia?
She is fine Annie, soon to be 9 and a half years old. She is Bridesmaid on Saturday this week for my Sister In Law when she gets married and couldn't be more excited!
She will be splendid. Time does fly. I remember when you gave birth to her. I was so happy for you.
You were all waiting for news then..... I had some beautiful swaddling blankets from our dear Rumplestiltskin, I still have them x
That is so nice.
TK, I am sorry I butted into your conversation but I was so surprised to see Aussie.
ja8, please?
Its been a while Annie, for sure. I landed back in Babble because of our dear Renny.....
I cannot believe what happened. It is so tragic. Renny was my favorite pirate.
Mine too Annie..... I shed many tears
I feel badly for Nutty too. They were close friends.
I know it is hard to talk about but does anyone know how the fire started and why they couldn't get out of the house?
Were they in Texas at the time?
I think they were living in Texas but I don't know anything about the fire.
I hate to think anyone should feel like they "butted into a conversation". I would hope people can feel like they can jump in and add to the chat anytime.
JA8 Marc ... jam ja* + 4th vowel + construction ****
Hi Molly :)
Nutty and I have been talking, and Jacula and I too, and Herinfernallady and I... We have shed many tears between us.
can I get a clue for lo 5/12 ?
if you hate someone you lo5 them
thanks, there
Aussieme there is no 'o' next to the ja?
marc....container then the vowel...
or more precisely, you have lo5 for them...
JA*
Figured it out and got it thanks
actually, lo 5 means to be unwilling to do something... ;o)
Good show Marc!
Hey penq!
hi pen
H's Hoisted!
Yes Pen...she was lo5 to start the 390 word grid
I's Incarcerated
i usually start a grid then discover its size. :)
hey, yall! :)
i'm babysitting right now, so will be in and out.
Hey Seain!
hi seain
Well let's see, you log into Babble, see the word count of the grid and then decide if you feel you're up to it. Is that more accurate?
hi all....just lurking and working on the grid...
I'm almost halfway now. Not bad.
I consider this a nice little grid
Surely Douglas, you je4,9! ;)
Somewhere between 100 and 200 words is nice, and it's nice that there aren't a large number of s's.
hi there, aussie, annie, douglas, penquis, et al. :)
That was the first word I got, Aussieme!
:D
je4.9 was my first word today, too :)
Mine was the first al5 :)
I have a confession to make. The word in the grid ho4/5 which means "frost" is a perfectly good word, but it seems to me to sound a lot like a word that is not so good to use in polite company.
Emily Dickenson used ho4/5 in a poem about the hemlock tree.
I was taught what ho4y frost is growing up. Still use both ho4 and ho4y. :)
i dont have any cl words. any clues for them? i know there must be one at least.
mkg....start with most of the hair product company....products to color hair...

RA 7 - large mouse + first vowel + amount of money paid to get in
RA 7 - a sweet liqueur made from wine or grape juice combined with brandy or other spirits and often flavored with almonds, fruit, or fruit kernels. (in case the definition helps )
