whoot!!! {{hugs}} and good morning sweetie. how are you today?

2:16 am

*hugs rose* Good evening dear friend. I am cold! But otherwise fine. And you?

2:16 am

all good here. out for lunch with June today.

2:17 am

ah right :) Did you have a good time?

2:19 am

sure did. pork terrine with salad followed by a chocolate sponge to die for...lolll. had a fair bit of pain later. so June took the stance that she wanted me home and sitting quietly. bless her!!

2:19 am

halfway. Brb, gonna grab me meds and breakfast

2:20 am

good for her. I worry about your pain levels, darling.

2:21 am

np's sprite

2:23 am

back

2:23 am

wb honey

2:24 am

turned on the heating. It is just too cold.

2:24 am

pain is now mainly in my hips and lower back. i only have to walk a few minutes and i slow to a crawl.

2:25 am

it worries me. With the pain treatments, things should be better and not deteriorating.

2:25 am

surprise, surprise. we have the heater on too. we have had heavy rain and hail here. in other parts of the country we have had sn4.

2:26 am

for real?? Jeezz and here I was thinking you guys were going into summer.

2:26 am

lollll. so did we. :-P

2:27 am

*grins* Global warming, right? Who are they kidding?

2:27 am

ikr? sn4 in both hemispheres at once, go figure.

2:28 am

I think we are heading straight in4 another ice age and the whole global warming spiel is just to throw us off.

2:29 am

sprite, if you google north and south poles moving. you will be amazed.

2:31 am

nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to climate.

2:32 am

it's scary how far the poles have moved. don says it is a normal cycle.

2:33 am

yeah that is my belief too.

2:34 am

and the whole population has been fed all this gaff and they believe it. i feel so sorry for them all.

2:35 am

the planet climate IS changing, but as part of a normal cycle. i do not dispute climate change, just the reason for it.

2:36 am

al gore with his movie has done a lot of damage. I fully agree that we humans must take better care of our environment. But the staged panic is countereffective. As soon as became clear that his theory was wrong, people threw everything overboard.

2:37 am

as don said, one volcanic eruption in five minutes discharges more carbon dioxide into our atmosphere than humans have produced since the industrial revolution.

2:38 am

like you said, YES by all means take care of our environment, but don't think you and others are the ones who caused the change.

2:38 am

yeah, that is all such a lot of crap. But still, we should be better guardians of this earth.

2:41 am

*giggle* i hope you aren't saying what don said is crap?? and i will continue to re-cycle as best i can, and take notice of the amount of non-renewable energy i am using. that is only common sense.

2:42 am

lol no I meant the whole panic about carbon monoxide.

2:43 am

oh lord why was i born so much after the 1930's?? perriot is on, and the art deco homes and furnishings are so beautiful.

2:44 am

not to mention the clothing and hair-styles. it was all so gracious.

2:46 am

hehehe :) But but but we wouldn't have met then...

2:47 am

true that....okay i am happy to have been born when i was...you're worth it... xoxox

please may i have a clue for the no8

2:50 am

:D

2:50 am

hi Jjenny! No + vowel + not your bro = no6. Plural for the 8

2:51 am

3:01 am

one thing at a time my love. you will make it and himself can make it up to you by cooking and shopping two days in a row.

3:03 am

and your days are never lazy. you are storing up energy so that you can do what you need to do.

3:04 am

true dat

3:06 am

3:06 am

awwww sweet

3:09 am

3:12 am

nps marc

3:12 am

it's all part of the "team building" process. *sigh*

3:14 am

yeah and rob hates it. He had pushed it straight out of his mind, kind of thinking he'd go to the first event and then go back to work. But his boss walked it this morning and made it clear they were all expected to participate in all the activities, including dinner. And karaoke after. I truly feel for him.

3:14 am

i swear.... all this political correctness and "new" workplace stuff has probably destroyed more relationships than we would care to know about.

3:15 am

in the olden days....when i walked to school in the sn4 with only barbed wire on my feet to stop me slipping in the ice...

3:15 am

Rob doesn't like all these compulsory stuff. He'd much rather work normally.

3:16 am

3:17 am

bad rose, lolllllll

3:17 am

3:19 am

3:20 am

you have a good day honey. xoxox and lots of hugs.

di7, please?

4:07 am

Di 7 music can come on a compact di*c +vowel + three letter word for to take unfair advantage of to exploit.

4:07 am

Then plural for the Di8

4:08 am

Unfair advantage and exploit peoples good nature say.

4:10 am

Or if that does not help how about. Di + vowel + a new car once driven is not classed as new anymore as it has been ***d.

4:11 am

The DEF is : A female professional entertainer who performs monologues.

4:13 am

music compact di*c + vowel + a new car once driven is not classed as new anymore as it has been ***d.

Is the other 8 also a D word?

4:20 am

No it is an NO

OK, I shall look for it!

4:22 am

If you have the NO 4/4 after the Ni 5/12 extend to make it NO 6/18 and extend again to make it a NO 8/40

4:22 am

Weird looking word.

I haven't listed yet but I'll have a look :)

Found it!

and yes, it is a weird looking word

4:24 am

Good going, Matty!

4:38 am

Funny how the creature and the produce it makes are both in the grid :-)

5:54 am

5:56 am

Di7 and 8 are odd words. Start with the "not" prefix, add a vowel and end with the last 4 of what goes in an electrical box that "blows" sometimes

5:56 am

morning, all --- Happy Turkey Day to Babble Americans :-)

5:56 am

And to you as well, Une.

5:58 am

Ty Molly, for your clue.

5:59 am

6:03 am

ty for di7/8

6:04 am

tadone!! no8 was my last word and i didn't think you'd pluralize that way.

6:05 am

There are reasons that I did not do well in high school French and words like that are two of them.

6:05 am

I was referring to the di7/8

6:06 am

the di7/8 are new words to me. i just called them comediennes.

6:06 am

6:14 am

11 vowels and 6 of them are E. I'm surprised there are 144 words in this grid.

6:16 am

6:17 am

6:18 am

bichon...clued at 5.56 by mollyL

6:21 am

Molly, the only word I got was disabuse, which you cannot make.

6:25 am

it looks misspelled , could be di plus a childen's book author

6:27 am

Well, there is no B in my clue

6:27 am

I still don't understand, is there a double consonant after the di?

di + dr who writes children

books

6:28 am

The clue was "not prefix" + vowel + last three of electrical box thing that blows

and then plural

6:31 am

I must be essentially dense this morning, but I've tried everything

6:33 am

First three letters of what you wash after dinner + VOWEL + last 4 of the electrical box thing that blows

6:34 am

finally, tyver Molly and Leona

7:04 am

Last step is sauteing the chicken livers till brown all around, not too long or they get tough. Add the bacon,(chopped), onions and mushrooms back in the pan with some milk and cream of mushroom soup.. stir till just the right consistency and then serve over cooked rice. I fixed collard greens as the side dish.

Been wondering for years. Anyone know how Lickety does its thing? Computer? Or does a human being get the grid way ahead of time? Pretty cool, however it's done.

11:12 am

It's computer generated.

Thanks, Mooly. Pretty impressive program.

And, Molly L, that would explain why there are words accepted which don't show up in the dictionary!

11:13 am

it's quite possible, given a copy of enable, to write a program to solve the whole grid in a few seconds, but where's the fun in that?

11:14 am

how would one do that?

11:15 am

*bichon wants to wrap up grids early* :D

11:16 am

What would be the fun? No chog

11:17 am

un 6/27, pls

11:17 am

basically, given the day's 25 letters in sequence, you write a big loop that follows each path from each letter, bailing out when you find a letter combo that doesn't exist in enable, and recording each match that does.

11:19 am

I never took programming when I was young. They didn't even have PC's then

11:19 am

there are some ways to optimize the "each path" part so the computer doesn't keep trying paths that would never match

11:19 am

we had phone booths when I was young.. none of this cell phone crap :D

11:20 am

un 6/27, pls

Di8

11:31 am

Clue fof no8

11:34 am

Sorry - don't have any 8s

no8/40 - plural of negative word then name of terrorist group much in the headlines latesly, but with a different vowel next to last letter.

Very messy clue, but very messy word!

11:36 am

Ty

11:38 am

and a hint for the di 8 pls?

11:41 am

Most of dinnerware, vowel, f*** box

11:41 am

The 8 is a pl of the 7

di7/36, di8/50 - stop availing oneself of something - with a stray vowel before the three letter word meaning avilaing oneself of, and the plural!

An even messier word!

Also messy spelling of availing, second time!

11:53 am

Thx - never heard that word(s) before

12:02 pm

I am thankful for the di7/8 clue today.

Thanks for today's icon, ru - I found it in an image collection and sent it to my brother as aThanksgiving Day card!

12:13 pm

I really thought it was cute.. thanks helen

12:13 pm

I like bears though .. interesting creatures

This was a grid filled with odd words - I am especially impressed by the be6/36,be7/52! If only the past tense had been in the grid, that would have reflected our situation from Monday!

There's another image of a bear standing to look through a telescope - behind him a two-lane traffic jam on a bridge! He's so casual about it, and obviously fascinated by the telescope!

12:16 pm

we don't get white powder here in Napa

At least the most recent fall of white powder was not preceded by freezing rain- I live halfway up a steep hill, and didn't dare to go out till the gravel trucks had been by!

12:18 pm

I bet

12:18 pm

I don't care for ice unless it's in my cocktail :D

That was the first real white powder for this year - last week.

12:18 pm

Hello folks

12:18 pm

hello origami.

12:18 pm

hope you're felling better

12:19 pm

a little ... ty

Now it's all sunny, and supposed to stay that way for several days. Hurrah! I'm going out into it now. - And hello, origami - nice cornucopia there.

12:21 pm

Beautiful Autumn day here in Sacramento

12:22 pm

same here.. clear skies

12:22 pm

cold though

12:22 pm

cold snowy day here

12:23 pm

Yes, low 40's is cold for these parts

12:25 pm

I'm getting my flu shot Saturday.. hope it helps protect me somewhat

12:26 pm

sure wish I had gotten ine

12:26 pm

mine rather

12:26 pm

my local pharmacy does them.. so just going there

12:27 pm

I hate going to the doctor's office

12:28 pm

I avoid it at my peril sometimes

12:30 pm

I really never get sick.. so only go for annual check ups

12:30 pm

overdue for a check up ... on my list of things to do in the new year

12:31 pm

it's pretty important

12:38 pm

I know ...I just hate going

12:57 pm

flu shots very ineffective and lots of people get sick after...my humble opinion

1:16 pm

that's not what my internist says babs

1:16 pm

I do get mildly ill after the shot though

1:19 pm

last year's flu vaccine (the trivalent one) missed one strain that turned out to be pretty prevalent, such that it was only 25% effective. But 25 is still better than zero

1:19 pm

they have to guess pretty early (the previous February) to get the vaccine produced on time

1:20 pm

I think anything helps a little. I stick to washing my hands a lot and not rubbing my eyes with my hands etc

1:21 pm

and it does represent an immune challenge, so if you're not beefed up on vitamins & rest, it can make you feel lousy. Nowhere close to as lousy as the flu itself tho

1:22 pm

I haven't had the flu in maybe ten years.. maybe longer. so I've been pretty lucky I guess

1:22 pm

I can attest to how lousy the strain I have is

1:22 pm

5:45 pm

That was a really lovely thing to do.

5:59 pm

I've had brined turkey it's really moist..

5:59 pm

glad you had a great day then

6:06 pm

I'm way too beat to do the turkey stock tonight, though. That just officially became a "tomorrow thing".

i did not.

9:10 pm

well that explains that then :)

9:11 pm

how was your thanksgiving?

it was nice. tryingto unwind after the drive up and back

9:13 pm

driving can be tiring. . .

9:13 pm

at least it was nice weather

yes, it was gorgeous. how was yours?

9:15 pm

very nice. . . i took a walk. . . i make myself a concoction of dried blueberries and chicken gravy over a sweet potato. . .

9:15 pm

my son is in spain. . . .so i got an email from him saying hi. . .

ah,that is good. is he vacationing?

9:19 pm

yes. . . seeing his non-girlfriend and going to a motorcycle race (to watch) to Gibraltar and Casablanca and Tangiers. . . possibly Portugal. . . not sure about that. . .

are you at all uneasy about that?

9:21 pm

no. . . not really. . . DC is not the safest place from terrorist attacks so hard to worry about him there. . .

true dat

9:23 pm

some things you have control over. . . you try not to take stupid risks. . . but other things if you let them rule your life then. . . as they say. . . the terrorists win. . .

i cannot see any more words.

9:27 pm

I was mildly hoping for nbt but i can see that is not happening with this grid . . . .:(

9:28 pm

9:38 pm

I keep lots of extra ones for my friends from Texas who have no clue how to dress in the cold. . .

9:39 pm

i hated it too ru. . . it made me feel like an old lady. . . but i was one of the few in my office who didn't slip and fall and break something. . .knock on wood. . . *knocks on head*

9:39 pm

I have that Reynaud's in my fingers when it gets really cold
