Hi all and thanks, Lickety
highly recommend a short lived show called "fortysomething", stars include hugh laurie, benedict cumberbatch, and peter capaldi, who turns in a PARTICULARLY hilarious performance in the third episode. my ribs hurt from laughing.
Will look out for it - thanks Hurshy.

stuck with 10 left
wow, you are waaay ahead of me
but i'm waaaaay stuck
this grid does not flow easily
Paula Deen is in the grid. Perhaps there'll be some comforting comfort food in the penalty box
so the penalty is that you get fat
That'll make people think twice about giving words in the chat
woohoo got my last S
cooee and g'day from me
woohoo got my last A
*doing the happy dance* lolll
wtg hurshy
hi gran!!
hey dee. lovely to see you
woohoo got my last W
you, too, rose!!
more monkeying, that's the key
dee, i played in my garden today. alas 10 minute stints was all i could tolerate. then the shoulders, lower back and feet were going...just what do you think you are doing? lolll
Taking things very slowly is the key :)
it's so frustrating... i used to garden in 8 hour stretches.
I can empathize; now I have trouble with changing beds .. definitely not fun.
egad...bed linen change day !! it takes me all day to put the clean linen on the bed.
ditto that!
good (positive) thing... my next ketamine infusion is in two days. can you imagine? 24 hours totally pain-free.
only if I sit quietly that long!!!
Absolutely amazing, rose!!
Agree, flosey!
in fact, that would be painful
Happy you'll be pain free for a bit, Rose!
Hi everyone!
Hello Kamanjah
Hi kam!
hey ya kam!! {{hugs}} flosey
Gardening sounds fun, but I can only do a bit at a time now too. Hubby is doing much better than I am - he's turning all the raised beds and has garlic and onions going quite nicely.
Congrats for hubby!
Bless hubby, lol! Don't know what I'd do without him!
kam, we are planning on putting in raised beds. just so i can garden while sitting.
I wish mine were taller!
raised beds - great idea
today i tried to stand and bend over. not too bad. but when the land became unlevel that's when the trouble started.
A long time ago my mom got me a kneeling bench with a pad. The pad is long worn out, need to find a new one. The handles are great for helping to get back up!!
one of our friends raised all of her beds last summer; some as high as 4 feet off the ground.. she said it helped her immensely
Uh oh Rose, you didn't fall, I hope!
i now have a pair of long-handled secateurs. which means i can reach bits out of reach when i am sitting.
*giggle* no kam...came close though.
Oh, I would LOVE 4 foot tall beds! Right now we have 8 raised beds - we have awful clay soil, so had to put them in. I now wish I had made them much higher than I did 15 years ago!
Foresight 15 years ago! Wouldn't that have been great!
Yes, it would have been!
But they'll all need to be repaired or rebuilt in the next few years...one at a time they'll get taller! Maybe I'll try one of those beach chairs - as long as hubby is out to help me get out of it! I still don't like sitting on the ground, but I think I must get myself used to the idea. I know I could get more done...you gals make me think of better ways! Thanks!
yay kam. you rock!! keep thinking laterally, and keep us in the picture.
Thanks, and I shall!
And I learned the French word for long handled pruners from Rose tonight - love new words :)
I found an amazing chair for my porch - great support for my back; here is the link: http://www.sears.com/la-z-boy-alex-pad\nded-folding-chair/p-07118523000P
*giggle* kam
We loved it so much we ordered a second one after the first arrived.
That looks comfy! I have a nice one that I use my back rest that I use in the car with, it works out well, as long as I remember to put the back rest back in the car!
It might make a good gardening seat for you.
I just have to get used to sitting on the ground. It's so wet now though, not sitting on it! I'll get the kneeler thing out again and make a pad if I can find one at a decent price. It has always worked, but now that hubby has retired and is loving gardening, I'm kind of letting him have at it <wink wink>
Good idea!
*can't find*
He's proud of "his" garden, and he really is good at gardening, but that leaves me with more housework instead of gardening being an excuse to be outdoors!
That gets tricky.
Well, I need to get going. Have a great eve / day all! *poofing with hugs*
Sleep well tonight, Dee! Good chatting again :)
Thx, Kam, you, too!!
Thx D
sweet dreams dee
Hi all
kam ?? you still here honey?
Hugs, Rose.
{{hugs}} and lashings of kisses lizgirl
How are you today - counting the hours til Monday?
still here Hi Liz
yup...37 hours....
Hi Kam
You'll feel so good after!
kam...do you need any help?
liz...i can't wait. shoulders, lower back are being sooooo
Are the shoulders and back a new thing?
I'm working on it! I'm a bit slower than the folks who hit the flip and finish right away - I'm having a bit of trouble with this grid - but monkeying along
no liz.
Such admiration for those, like you Rose and Sprite and all the others too, who finish so quickly.
*basks in liz's admiration*
So you should :)
Plus the cats are needing extra attention tonight...
*giggle* and my garden should benefit from our attention today.
I rarely complete a grid in one session - usually 2 or 3! This is my 2nd attempt today.
Too hot to think about the garden this week. The grass at the front is getting towards knee height!
that's right...himself also ventured into the garden, and armed with secaqteurs attacked several plants.
Too cold and wet here to think about the garden today!
and a pickaxe....which successfully uprooted a decorative grape vine which tries to strangle our roses every year
I'm getting impatient for my cherries and pluots to put out some blossoms - other trees are starting to flower, but mine, not yet...soon!
Sounds like he had a successful day.
he did liz.
I love the blossom in Spring - that's the best season here, I reckon.
agree lizgirl. and not to mention the spring flowering of the roses
Now Rose. That's cruel. You know I miss roses and Rose too.
*giggle* lizgirl
My neighbor likes to plant blackberries - the birds ate the berries and deposited the seeds in my asparagus bed, which basically ruined it. Your seasons are opposite of mine and I'm anxiously awaiting spring!
I'm looking forward to autumn - then whale watching in winter.
But my roses should start soon too. They're not pruned because we have many deer. If I pruned them properly, they'd die from the deer eating all of the new growth.
wa 6/30?
nm
lizgirl...once the lawyers etc have had their way...watch out for me on your front door step.
You know I'm looking forward to that.
i don't care what season/time it is for either of us...i will be there.
True. Any time is good but we'd love to take you out whale watching.
This grid is yucky! Where are all the words?
honey...as much as i would love to have a personal experience with whales...i appreciate a close encounter with you two more.
You'll get that whenever you get here.
*grin*
If no one minds, could I have a tiny hint for an 8, pls?
That's not an8 but any 8 - haven't listed so don't know the stats.
en 8/ 80
en 8, compound.
Wow! That should be a bit hint with those stats. Thanks. Looking.
Thanks :)
was that too much hint?
Diz - telling me it was a compound really helped there.
Both helped.
in8/40. cheeky.boldly rude
thanks rose
xoxox flosey
Thanks - got that one from your clue - then looked for the word afterwards!
52 left - will probably find some more later tonight, when we get home from friends and then finish tomorrow. Enjoy your evenings or nights! Any UK / European lurkers enjoy your days. Hugs.

Hello RB
Hi folks
Hi Ori
hi, Hego. I sstayed long enough to see you--had a long email from Nef last night so I will leave (except I'm in the pb for that last word) and answer her, THEN get to work! poof
I gtg
I think winoed should be a word
Hiya kid.
hi folks
hey.. did you take a trip or something hego?
I winoed last night
hi everyone
How's the new homeowner doing?
hey there ru
me too ori.. but that's my professional responsibility
lol ori, me too.
I've got the keys.. I start moving stuff today and tomorrow.
Good excuse Ru.
Very exciting.
how was your wine-snobby dinner welki?
congrats on the new house, ru
thank you
I'm waay too excited
we got there, ru, and we had to leave about a half hour in. violently ill. was almost worth it not to have to listen to them.
oh.. violently? what a flu?
Ouch!
you sure know how to make an entrance
beats me - either a virus or food poisoning
oh
i sure do - and an exit
so much for that cocktail hour.
would have had to be food poisoning earlier the previous day.. you can't react that fast
probably a virus
no, i didn't have anything to eat at the function
true
hate those heave and leave parties :D
Better now welki?
oh yes, thanks origami
I'm guessing you won't have to worry about being invited to the next one welki
oh ru - that would have been a perfect line, "i really hate to heave and leave, but..."
:D
i wish - but it's a year down the line
I hope they didn't expectorate too much from you welki
Bill is all in 7th heaven. He found a golf course open.
hego, our weather here has been so warm, we have one open, too!
Oh, bad one Ru.
:D
It's almost 60 here.
weird weather here
and on that appetizing note, i'm off to make some breakfast - bye for now
sorta kinda rainy and cloudy
oh. .sorry welks
bye Welki.
hate it when lickety shows me plurals I missed
Hi 2Bit. We get a little preview of Spring today. Yay.
yes, there's a patch of snow next to my driveway holding on for dear life :-)
little snowflakes in life rafts
pi7 clue?
no idea dan
I just have a six
I have 2 x pi 6/21, but missing both pi6/27 + pi7/40
i found it
a pine tree
pb ruru
oh.. sure.. trying to help you and you toss me in the PB :D
bad Ruru
hehehe
if anyone didn't find Pine.. I suggest going to try other games
good point :-)
No respect for cluing rules anymore anyway.
maybe words with dumbshits
bad bad....
the other one is sewing tool + hither and ***
and plural
I'm feisty today hego
that's a tree also
I see that Ru.
isn't feisty your natural state ru? :D
There are cluing rules? Could have fooled me.
hmmm good point ori
More or less.
I think I'm going to have to list soon
If there are cluing rules, I think a lot of people missed that memo
firewords! en8 compound word was my last. tx lickety and ruru and all cluers
good for you dan
congrats Dan.
good deal dan
There used to be cluing rules, but they're long gone.
well.. there's a reason for that hego
Is there?
yep
Hmmm....
Yes indeed, Ru.
there are probably a few left
well I have no clue (pun intended).
don't post your whole word list in chat
maybe customs is more apt than rules
:)
Suggestions...requests...hopes
I think a lot of the "rules" around here were meant to be broken .. so...
It would be much better if I set all the "rules" and everyone abided with them :D
Oh, my!
hardly
Now there's a scenario.
well. I'd expect that from you BR
i expected you to say that
i don't know what to expect.
I think fours shouldn't be clued period
ruru?
agree
yes mlf
hahahah
did you say you found the pi7?
:)
yes.. I did
dan clued it Fan
i clued it as a pine tree
ah ty I got the pi 6/27 pi 7/40
ty dan
I agree about cluing 4 letter words. I know several people have asked very nicely for people to stop blurting out clues when the word has not been asked for. That hasn't gone away.
the new world order
words should not be put in chat other then by accident
It's not a new world order. It's just people asking to be able to find words on their own. People can do whatever they want. And they do.
another rule gone
there are two who do some ordering
there's an old saying.. . once an asshole.. always an asshole
and you epitomize that saying'
ruru you just describe my husband
uh oh!
in7?
hego he doesn't deny it
no in7 Fan
oh sorry I meant in8 my fault
Well Ru, at least you don't hide behind fake identities. : D
hahahha
that the best you can do
I think someone got up on the wrong side of the hospital bed
you guys can have your fun .... I just laugh at you .... have a great day.
are you still looking for the in8 fan?
yes please origami?
it means rude or disrespectful
what great timing for that clue
ruru exactly what I thought
i still don't know the word however
like a bratty child mlf in8
carefully trying to avoid cluing rules I don't know ... has the bottom of your shoe in the middle
avoid breaking cluing rules rather :D
i thought ti might have that word in it but not working so far ty origami
*puts ori on clue rules breaking alert*
oh shucky darns
origami am i spelling all4 letters in that word to get the complete in word?
yes fan

(just here for a few minutes, memorial service is this afternoon)
hi uusue and yw:)
hugs to you, Sue . . . am sure memorial service will be beautiful . . .
i have le 7/28 ending in e i can't find the other le7 any help please?
uusue big hugs to you.
hi une
le7/28 describes someone who lets a person get away with something
be with friends tonight sue and family.. sad day
not a firm disciplinarian
I'll go easy on you.
hi and bye -- off to pick up 4 rescues and bring them to Nashville :-)
condolences sue.
all i can think of is leech or letch
got the le - it's an adjective
uusue 2 of them
yeah, I don't have the other
resembling lions ends in a number
uusue can you clue the one you have i am not getting it at all?
Sue, my condolences and sorrow for your loss
hi bichon
*** the lion..number after eight
is that the one u need mlfan
ivesy i need the other one i just clued that for someone else
hello everybody
hi ruby
Hi Ruby
ok.. it means you are easy on someone like the judge was easy on the criminal
ohhhhh now i see it after that clue ty ivesy
((sue)) this has been some winter!!!
yw..
hello origami and mlf and ivesy and whoever else is here
sue , wishing you strength on this day.. and my thoughts are with you
hi ruby!
the tulips and daffs think spring has come but I don't think so....
ruby it is Spring like here too
it is still cold grey and damp here but the daffs have buds and the tulip leaves are most of the way up
very strange winter in this region
we have clouds here too but at least its a bright day
I have crocus and daffodils in bloom, should be in the mid sixties today. Last week was in the 20's with ice.
mixi isn't it kinda nice:)
It's 70 one day here, and 50 and raining the next. I am itching to get to work on my veggie garden.
from the little I know, NC has a lovely climate
i am sure it will happen soon enough for you to be able to do that origami:)
it does ruby.
I have a potager and hope that this year, I'll be able to do some work in it
mixi do ou think it depends on what part of nc though. the weather where i am is just typical
usually I just buy a few flats of tomatoes and hope for the best
and if I have the energy, I'll make currant jelly and maybe even blackberry this year
I want to get peas in the ground before it gets too hot
blackberry jelly too?
I am going to make some kumquat marmalade this weekend
NC is very hot in the summer
I love peas from the garden, but after growing them for a couple of years I developed a horrible contact allergy
I think of february as daffodils, march as flowering trees, azaleas in april, and then the crepe myrtle in the summer.
hello bichon
yes it is bichon we have had over 100 degrees a few times
hi ruby, et al
mixi do have any crepe myrtle?
Our bulbs are peeking through.
We don't have crepe myrtle, but I've seen them in VA
right now, there are wild primroses here and there but the show only begins in earnest in March and then it's daffs and tulips, maybe iris, cherry blossoms and then, the grand display
begins
most street trees and fruit trees are in bloom here now
bichon i never saw any crepe myrtle in the areas that i lived in of va. BUT qute a bit of i here and i love crepe myrtle. i thought we were going to plant some but we haven't yet
I don't have any crepe myrtle.
a plum tree, up the hill from my house, blossomed in Dec
I have to look up crepe myrtle
us either mixi but the neighborhood and downtown does
I always think crepe myrtle should hav a scent, but it doesn't
in may, lilies, peonies, roses, allium
I have some dogwood, and lots of wisteria in the trees. I hate things in vines. have to put it out of the chimney every year or so.
origami that is something else i had wanted to grow.. fruit trees
i love dogwood too
no dogwood in France (:
:(
syne
sorry
the robins think dogwoods are berry good. '
an5?
o robins here,either
of course they do mixi:)
mixi do you know what a snow bird looks like?
yes, my parents were snow birds.
no its an actual bird
no.
I thought they had skis on top of their cars
and kept houses in the village
<----you do now
yes that's a bird in the snow.
its a black and white bird but i started seeing them here for the first time this year
I have 4 apple trees, a dwarf peach, dwarf nectarine, a plum tree, a dwarf clementine and a dwarf kumquat
they all thrive on neglect
when I planted the garden which was bare, I put in a sanguine peach, one pear, two plums, one apple and one quince.
The peqr and peqch died quickly.
The quince is sick but still gets lovely flowers every year
I haven't had any luck with pear trees. They all get fire blight and die on me
and a magnificent reen fig which has fruit twice some years and other years, nada
wow origami your yard must be busy
mine had "rouille", but I bet it's the sam disease
bye kids
It is very big. I also have a lot of planter boxes. But it isn't very visually appealing
bye ruby
in5?
Ii have bright red crepe myrtles and hot lips salvia in the front yard
i want crepe myrtle and fruit trees in our yard
I love bark on the crepe myrtles and the salvia blooms11 months of the year
Crepe myrtles are a lot of work
They do sucker a lot ru ... always pruning the suckers
we do have some white flowering bushes but no idea what they are. two of the at least that grew together that have a wonderful scent. we also have a Leather Leaf Mahonia
I'm going with drought resistant stuff for my front yard
and fruit trees in the back
as long as you can keep them under control i would assume they would be fine?
you need a gardener to manage the crepe myrtles to shape them mlf.. otherwise they get out of hand
that's just a suggestion however
I bought single trunk ones that were already about 5' tall. Other than prune the suckers I don't do anything to them. But, Sacramento is ideal weather for them.
in8, anybody?
got to get going.. have a good day everone
everyone that is
in 8 boldly rude or disrespectful; contemptuously impertinent; insulting:
ty
Welcome.
fan, i think you may be seeing juncos?
have fun at the new place ru
what owl?
hi zooz
ruru ohhh
Hello, Mlf.
in5?
inactive.
fan?
zooz no idea
owl you said i was seeing juncos?
Put inactive in google it will come up in a box of other words used for inactive.
why didn't i see that word/?? duhh ty zooz
Welcome.
Howdy, y'all. Alas, a perfectly wasted Q.
perhaps, i associate them with snow, that seems to be when i see them.look them up and let me know
hi judi
owl yes probably hence the name
I must be having a dim day. I totally missed where sparrows came into the conversation.
birds and plants were a topic of convo i had asked if someone had heard of a snowbird or snow bird i had it as an icon before to show what it looks like. i hadn't seen any of them before until this year
i will be back
Apparently I can't keep up with the chat, or MLF's constantly changing icons. *Goes to the dim corner*
*shines little light into the dim corner* If you can't have snow birds, stick with bats in your belfry.
good morning/afternoon everyone
Oh thank you Judi, bats in the belfry I can relate to. : D
Could I please get a clue for the 1st pi6/27?
Sounds like a nut from a cone of the pi4 tree, gramma.
Found the 9! *back flips*
I'm afraid I can't see it.
Judi, can you clue it?
se 9: not active --- think of the mud at the bottom of a lake or stream
Se9: like a couch potato.
ty got it.
Ooh. Both 8s too!
first pi 6/27, please?
I just got it It rhymes w/the wi6 that I also couldn't find until now.
ty gramma
I just finished. Clues anybody?
1st pi 6/21, please?
grats, gramma
pi+ a consonant+ spanish cheer
ty - a new one for me
and the pi 6/21 following columbus' ship, please?
same 1st 3 + a device we use to call folks minus the 1st e
I meant the 1st four letters of the phone minus the 1st e

Hello everyone :-)
Make that 'Hello anyone'!
Hello
Hi Byz. You handled a nasty situation with aplomb earlier. Well done.
How you doing?
All good here. Youngest daughter celebrated her 21st birthday last night. Everything was great till the male stripper showed up. Chaos then ensued....
But it was a great night!
How are
How are
How is life with you, Byz?
Busy, it seems!

Hy 5/16 Wv
I love orchids, Peri. My house is a bit like a florists shop today. Five different deliveries of 21 red roses arrived for my daughter yesterday!! From 5 different guys. We ran out of vases ....
wow! lucky girl!
I bet the florist was taking notes. . .
I bet the florist handled it with aplomb
indeed he did, Ru. With aplomb, no bitterness, snarkiness or nastiness. It was quite refreshing.
I did not find the word soodle, looking for the in8
just found the in8 ty
I knew you would Peri!
now why would a florist be bitter, snarky or nasty?
hello friends

Hiya Trif

Almost 10.00 pm here
mind you, I am in sloooooow motion - went out last night to let off some steam, and man, did we have fun! I did not imbibe ONE DROP of booze, but whooooo the dancing!

Oh yes. That was Columbian, Angelo, who did The Full Monty. Again. And again. And again. Dear Gos!
That was meant to be Dear God. There are still 7 party-goers at my house. I wish they would all feck

Computer freak out.
It was always funny when the Charles's computer would freak out ..
I loved their portrayal in "Murder by Death." I love really dorky movies.
If you are Nick and Nora, I get to be Asta! :-)
My Tom can be Mrs. Asta...
:D
Now I really want to watch Murder by Death. Must seek out on Netflix.
LOL
Nick: "Oh, it's all right Joe. It's my dog and my wife." Nora: "Well you might have mentioned me first on the billing."
I am signing off and watching Murder by Death. Have a nice evening all.
