I'm really sorry. it's the worst
I keep expecting him to be perched in his favorite window
but I was blessed the beautiful little soul shared his life with me for nearly 12 years
that's happened to me too.. I kept hoping to see him when I went around a corner
I am glad I at least got him to the park the day before he left... it was his favorite place

name that proper noun! popular brand of ibuprofen
name that proper noun! expensive brand of kitchen appliances
hello, Lynxx
*thinks* *wonders if we have it in the US*
I haven't seen you in a long time!
hi Ruby - lovely to see you
alen
from Italy Hurshy
how has the winter (summer for you) been? Did you escape the terrible heat wave?
Hello Hurshy
hello ruby
we are having an Summer running into Autumn - still very warm to hot and very humid (read unpleasant)
ok i googled it and i haven't heard of it so idk if that means i should not answer or what :)
ilve
yes
do you guys not have my brand of ibuprofen NOT in the US?
Here, although less snow and no hard frost, it has been a long, weat, grey winter
ok that is possible the worst-constructed sentence ever
aleve?
possibLY
I don't do medicines so wouldn't even hazard a guess
what is the Appliance name?
ilve was the appliance
soon you will be waxing lyrical about your bulbs Ruby
advil is the med
hahah, "Don't do médecines?" You are very fortunate§
I know. But yes we do have that one here
The bulbs have buds, but thye plants are spindly and sad. If we don't get some sun soon, they'll be lost
got to go and do salad for dinner - see you all later
got to go and do salad for dinner - see you all later
I think I take at least 17 pills a day, mostly for pain, but they certainly help
bye lynxx
sorry to hear you have such pain but glad the meds help
this is interesting, i finished the 5's first. still have 5 4's, 5 6's, 3 7's and an 8 to go.
I spoke with oneof my oncologists yesterday and when asked if I was going to die soon, she said "Watch out for busses" LOL
buses*
does that mean you are in remission, or you have something slow-growing?
ok NOW i finished the 7's but still have one 8 to find. what a funny lil grid.
My tumors are stable; now it's a question of controlling the pain and trying to outlive my dogs
how old are your dogs? :)
aha there is my last 8!
Rufie is 4; Raffie is 3, and I'm 72
5 4's and 3 6's to go, how odd
The problem is that they would not survive being separated
do you have money to leave? i bet there are plenty of people near you who would be willing to take them if money is provided for their care.
And they are too fancy and large for this place; adoptin the 2 of them would be impossible here
i mean just as a back up plan.
Everything is up in the air, but I intend to stick around for a long while, God willing and the creek don't rise! lol
6 left and they are all in the third column
do you definitely want to stay there? sometimes it seems like you don't really like being in such a ru5 place.
I love it here! Although it's a small village ne** a small city, I have a lot of local support and my house, view and garden are super!
ok :)
I couldn't afford to find anythding comparable in the US; I just miss the food!
can you travel around europe and see lots of sights? that would be what i'd love to do if i lived there.
Happily, I did a lot of travel in my previous lives (!!!), so I'm content to stay here.
i didn't realize there were affordable things in rural france. i mean that aren't like, old and have no updated plumbing.
The places I've missed, e.g. Grand Canyon, Yosemite, India Iceland, will have to remain that way
oh, that is too bad, yosemite is, i only drove through really but it was like, this is almost nice enough to make me want to go camping.
The house is around 30 years old and we totally re-did it. Its onlyproblem is that there's no central heating, but I'm used to it, just wear many layers of clothes all winter
30 years old but no heat? why would they do that in the 80s? i was thinking more like, hundreds of years old.
And I spend a lot of time (like now) in frodnt of the fireplace AND my bathroom has heat
oh fireplace that is helpful
It was poorly built, had electric coils in the (tiled) floors, but they chort-circuited soon after we moved in and couldn't be fixed.
Assuming that there was central heazting, I never even asked....dumb American that I am!
was there no way to hold the builder accountable?
No, since we were the 3rd owners. I really don't mind, except when I first get up. I like sleeping in a coild room
i like a coldISH room but if it got below 50 i might not so much
And having a large, fenced-in garden and a beautiful view, counts for a lot.
what have you got a view of?
I think the bedroomis in the 50's at night, very nice for sleeping
Lake Annecy below and the foothills of the Alps (just cliffs) in the other direction. The house is on a hillside so is one 3 levels, facing due South and wonderfulviezs of the lake
Nedless to say, this is a French keyboard, hence some of the typos
If you look at Google maps, the village is Veyrier du Lac ansd you can practically see my dogs and garden.
nice
The village itself isn't much, but the countryside is gorgeous and the people are exceptionally nice although nobody speaks English except for the snowbirds who comes from elsewhere in the winter for local skiing
stats, pls, for the 9
seen
sorry, will keep quiet now
DE 6,7,8,9 & 8
((zzoozz))
(((Ruby)))
oh ruby sorry i would have answered your question but i went off looking at real estate in your region of france :)
my husband was born in france and lived there until he was 12; i know he would like the idea of living there again if we could ever work out the practicalities
When we bought the place, 20 years ago, it was much less expensive here. Now it's become très chic!
Where was he born?
i found something which has a life annuity, but i'm not quite sure i understand the terms of the financial arrangement
he was born in a suburb of paris, longjumeau, to american parents living abroad.
Is that "viager3? (sp?)
Does he still speak French?
Hi all. Happy mother's day to those not in America :)
oh yes, he's fluent, albeit without more sophisticated vocabulary. imagine an adult who speaks perfectly like a 12 year old french kid.
May I have the full stats for the first de6 that will eventually lead to the de9?
it does say "viager" in it. this is the english version: Life annuity sold by 2 heads 81 and 79 years. Value of € 200,000 - Bouquet € 32,000 / € 823 monthly pension. No beneficial interest of the seller.
Hello, Matty :-)
Sorry start with DE 7/36
it isn't based on a 6, the root is de7/36
DE + sounds like a girls name.
OK, thanks - I shall have a look :)
I really need to get glasses. sorry about that.
so does that mean you pay the low sale price and you also pay them their pension?
I write like an adolescent, but everybody understands me and they say they like my accent, which I doubt
Exactly, hursh. I guess the only risk is that they get tired of waiting and murder the old lady lol
well, unfortunately right now i'm working on a masters' degree so our financial situation is limited. but it could be a type of setup we could look at when we are both employed.
i am two words away from finishing this grid listless
Well done hurshy! I'm 69 words away ;) (and still focussing on those pesky de words)
I'm not quite at half, but this is still a great pleasure!
I DE6 this fete open.
i mean, one of the ones i have left is a 4 so it should NOT be this hard!
Thank you!!!
hi Matty
Morning Ruby!
8s and 9s are now history
DE7 see I did it again..Sorry going now anyway lol Cooking for mother's day :-) Bye.
Have a good one. I've not heard a peep from my daughter :(
ty zzoozz
woohoo i got the SIX, so now i KNOW the last one is a d4
AHA!!!! there was a mighty du4! it ranged all over. they were both masters. the loser... ran off alone, while the winner followed those footprints toward gilder!
wow, zzoozz, that gaveme several
that is highly satisfying.
I am highly satisfied!
I may be stuck, if I don't list, on 49 words left :(
44 left...
I've met my little goals (half, nbt, nbs), not a chance of finishing
Some think that's silly, but it's good enough for me
Nope, that works for me, Ruby. When I played years ago, I HAD to finish. So the game stopped being fun for me.
Now, if I finish, great, but I don't get OCD about it. Far more fun that way (for me)
I never le***** how to list, not seeing the point
Things do go WAY faster with the list. But because I'm on a Mac, Babble Expert isn't available, so it means double entering words once I start to list. So sometimes I do, sometimes I don't
The fun part is seeing how many words I can find right away, then adding a few from the chog and the, on to scrabble and lexulous
You don't have to double enter. Just copy your word list and paste it into the Bulk/Add box.
I do, when I first list. But then when I'm working from the list, I double enter to keep track of where I am.
So if I were to list now, I'd bulk add the 133 words I have but then double enter for the rest as I go
I'm just happy to be here and see other babblers
and "speak" in English
Everyone seems to have their own way to play. Whatever works for you is good. It's just a game.
Exactly :)
I think each of us finds his own way of enjoying the game
snap, Molly
Some people barely play and mostly chat, some people only play and never chat. Everyone has their own "enjoyment level"
yes
I would enjoy more controversy, but some Babblers are very touchy and take things too oersonally
Yep - I've a friend I introduced to Babble - she never chats, only plays (well, she chats with me but not through the chog, but through Google messenger)
Political chat would be interesting and fun, even disagreeing.
The problem is there's no tone of voice online so arguments can get very heated (online in general - I don't mean here specifically)
that's true, but it ca be fun to be sarcastic or poke fun, without being nasty or name-calling
Indeed, but it's hard for the recipient to tell if it's in fun or just being cruel. Jokes can sometimes fall flat online (which is a shame!)
I also tend to assume that anyone I 'like' or feel a connection to must have similar views to mine. That ... isn't always true.
but I don't like to have to tiptoe around, fearful of stirring up trouble
I've found that, often, people who are very old friends from the US, often have totally different views from mine but we still remain close friends
I'm pretty far left of center. I don't even agree with my son!
There was a study published by the Pew Research Institute (http://goo.gl/8rW66f) very worth a read. Americans are becoming more and more partisan, making consensus more and more difficult.
I too, for the record, am left of centre.
And I'm an old-style feminist, having been on the front-line, job-Wise of the battle
Well Ruby, when people take being sent to the penalty box in a sensitive way (and that has always been light hearted and a joke here) then you know you are dealing with a group of highly sensitive people. For the most part.
as for women's hezalth issues, each is entitled to her opinion and actions as it's a personal question, up to the individual
Do they really overreact to being sent to the PB? I had no idea!
Ruby, so with you there. The key words there are 'personal question' - not for some old dude to decide what's best for every woman (or young dude, or other woman etc etc)
Some of our dearly-departed friends used to speak of cabana boys....
No woman takes the abortion issue lightly, but we must have our choice (and our say)
Pro Choice vs Pro Life is a big dividing issue in American politics.
Between abortion and guns, it VERY partisan with few on either side willing to give any ground.
And that includes me - I'm not trying to pretend I'm better than everyone else ;)
...just some people ;)
I Watch CNN and BBC for English-language news and am sad about those two great divides.
I've never really understood the debate about gun control. People can still retain their "right to bear arms" with tighter gun control laws.
Me, I'd rather the right to arm bears. It would make hunting season more interesting.
The gun question puzzles me, in the end. How can anyone object to background checks and banning automatic weapon sales? You can't eat a de** ahter it's been shot 20 tumes!
Thayt would be a fair/bear fight
What I find babbling is the same people who are for unregulated gun ownership/sales, who are for the death penalty, so are happy to help people to a violent and unpleasant death, then get all 'pro-life' when it comes to abortion. So a few, undifferentiated cells have an unlimited right to life but a full blown human doesn't?!
We used to have a "problzem" heron eating our fish and my husband wanted to shoot it. Maybe his Alzheimers had already started LOL
Don't get me wrong, abortion must be a heart breaking decision. Everyone I know who has had one (which is like, two people) would much prefer to have never been in that situation - nobody WANTS an abortion.
It is often a tragic thing. But it is an important right and each individual woman's (or couple's) choice.
But see Ruby, the heron was only doing what nature prompts it to do.
That's exactly it, Matty, it is a sad decision but should be for the woman involved to decide
BTW, below, where I said 'babbling'...I meant baffling...
Thanks Matty, I was wondering about that.
That's what I repeatedly told him and it needed to eat somewhere and "chez Hunter3 was an appealing bird restaurant.
Clearly I have babble on the brain ;)
Watching the bird hunt was a beautiful spectacle.
Herons are gorgeous birds, one of my favorite.
I am stuck on 37 left and it is time for me to shower and dress (well, well past time but hey, it's Sunday)
And the fish in thepond eat their own babies when there are too many
It was, as always, very nice to see you, Matty
I may be back (and thank you - great to see you too !)
I whine a lot, but you babblers are very kind to me
And Molly even got me across the finish line, the few times I actually got FW
Ruby you are certainly not the only person who comes here to talk about their troubles. Far from it.
Sometimes, I need to, and you, Molly, were the first to recognize my husband's malady
Good morning all.
Well that is just because I had (unfortunately) walked that ugly path with a loved one.
Hello Sukee
I was just in denial for a long time and couldn't accept this formerly-brilliant man slipping away
2 things to name: Spanish-language poet and book of the Bible
Neruda and Levi
Hah, I was thinking Ezra
That should have had a question mark after it. Levi is wrong, it's not a book of the bible, just a character in it.
short for Leviticus, maybe?
As for Ezra, I am more inclined to think of the band Better Than Ezra than the Bible : D
I don't know the band; I'm stuck in the 20th C. music-wise
Can I please have states for the lone N in the 2nd column.

I noticed, Byz, you've a Clive Barker quote in your profile. Have you read Weaveworld?
aeilusa
No
Ah, very good book - highly recommended
good morning, everybody ;)
I have a copy of Weaveworld on my book shelf. A very nice read indeed.
Well, I don't know I'd call it 'nice' given some of the deeply disturbing scenes. But I love the concept and the writing. And I love how Barker doesn't describe the Weaveworld too specifically, given that it's an individual paradise, as it were
Nice as in a very good read, not as in how the soty runs. There are some dark places in the carpet to be sure...
story*
Oh yeah - the Magdelene Sisters for a start....
One word left, which I suspect should be obvious
...and it was, eventually. Fireworks

I liked today's grid. Not too many crazy words

you'd just hate to have to be nice to me
I've never called a patient names...to their face.
it's true... saving your life vs picking on you - what a dilemma
tough call
it is, hego
*sulks*
(in corner)
there, there
*sniffle*

I've entered endive twice.
mmm.. endive salad with persimmons, pomegranate, and bacon :D)

No, he's just trying to support that kind, sensitive gentleman image. *Coughs*
except the persimmons (Fuyu) and pomegranates are out of season now
We'll have to wait.
kind yes.. gentleman .. errr.. no
*Puts on Barry Manilow for Ru*
He's outed himself.

Molly his brother is still in football
na + take the L off the Strauss guy of jeans fame
Yes MLF, I know that.
ty molly got it
I personally don't really care but not seeing him in commercials will take some getting used to those Nationwide commercials are funny
He'll still be on the ads
I agree with that Molly, but I feel that the NFL has been dominated by his emininent retirement.
Same way baseball did with Derek Jeter.
once you open your mouth....
Just my opinion
car except for the draft and the Tennessee school situation regarding football they don't have much to talk about until the draft
car, I love the way the tabby in your icon is feeling that she/he is so clearly the superior or the two cats!
As usual, not typing well - OF the two cats!
I think when I had first posted that picture the caption had something to do with George aiming high!
Something that she was way out of his league! :)
Hiyas, kids!
Hi Judi
Hey, I found "Advil". Anyone need some pain relief?
I think she THINKS she's way out of his league - and he knows better! He's such a gorgeous cat.
Been a tough morning. My room feels so empty
I do...horrible headache
Mind you, Judi's cat of the day is great, too.
Thanks, Helen. However, my cat of the day has been around since Valentine's Day. I really should plunk something else up there.
Babble blindness has set in. taking a break
Hope your headache clears up.
Rolling the ball...(rolling) Rolling the ball to me.
hallo! 54 to go, and I'm stuck
Hallo, Harry :-)

Bich, my parents had me late in life for the generation they were from.
My Mom was 22 when she had me
My Mom was 35 and my Dad was 38 when I was born. They had trouble conceiving after my sister was born 10 years earlier.
I couldn't get pregnant after my son was born, so we adopted a baby girl from Catholic Charities. [we are so not Catholic]

I think I spent more time looking for the small words on this grid, the larger ones seemed to jump right out.
Thank you
yes, larger ones seemed easier today...
The larger ones are always the best (couldn't resist)
*says little prayer*
He said "little"
done moving for today.. took three loads
Good progress. It's nice to be able to move gradually.
yes.. it has been much easier and much more organized to slowly put stuff away. I'm lucky my new house isn't too far from where I currently live
nice ruru. I hope you are happy there
thanks bugs
I love my new house.. so I'm pretty sure i'll be happy there
the hope is that there will be nothing but happy memories in any new home. It is a fresh start on another adventure
So is the kitchen done? That is always mybfirst
So is the kitchen done? That is always mybfirst
So is the kitchen done? That is always mybfirst
So is the kitchen done? That is always mybfirst
the kitchen is almost done.. I just have the last stuff I use every day here.. moved all the glassware and plates and spices etc
how did that happen
I hate this tablet
what the hell?
hey Doren! I missed that you were moving too! wishing you many good memories in your new home too.
how did what I typed become doren?
Wow chat has gone whacko
that's is totally weird
Oh, so Doren didn't move and I am shutting up now again.
that's unbelievable!
It has been weird quite a bit lately. Someone thot hackers
I thought it was me mine was entering as I was typing then froze up on me.
maybe I should refresh?
And my comment about bed being set up first totally dissapeared.
my new bed is being delivered on the 15th
Oh thats right I forgot you got a new bed
two new beds
in case I can't make it to the one in the back bedroom :D
Lol or you get kicked out of the first
By the oets of course rofl
Pets
i kind of figured that
I think this site is starting to fail now
I have trouble entering words a lot but I just figured it was on my end, both in chat and the grid
the other night I lost about 40 of the words I put in when i came back..
where'd everyone go?
That happens to me all the time a delay then it enters the words and misses a lot of them I know I typed.
I think the chog ate them
i think i'll go make dinner and get a glass of wine
It used to help if you refreshed before leaving (to maintain your word list). Now it doesn't. I agree with Ru about the site starting to fail.
duras
wined and dinnered out now
re6/21 # 2 pls?
re + loan money again
