My GP thought I had pleurisy and didn't even think that my pain was caused by a tumor in my sternum; he's not the sharpest blade in the drawer

Many people celebrate a day aside from the commercialization involved. Catholics and Christmas comes to mind.
and probably just as many see Christmas and Easter, e.g., as an occasion for gifts, with no idea of the religion behind it
and anyway, Christmas =/= Mother's Day
maybe in addition to, but I don't think aside from....not many that do not exchange gifts at Christmas or kids that don't know about Santa Claus in our culture.
