I have a HUGE fish pond in my back yard, which I have sadly and sorely neglected for the past three years, and which I PROMISE to never do again. It has been a two day slog of mug and ooze and algae, and I am not done.

I was glad when the heron discovered the fish in my pond (although sad) - it prompted me to turn it into a japanese maple garden feature. I was getting too old for the yearly pond maintenance and repotting water lilies etc - UGH!
some nice saves though - lots of fish, tadpoles, two turtles, lovely salamanders. The frogs gave me lip and stormed off

We got out early because of no snow days. We did take a day off to celebrate the Kansas City Royals World Series win.

If we don't build in snow days, we have a habit (in our neck of the woods) to go almost to the end of June. If we do build in snow days, we tend to not need them... and then we have extra-long weekends a couple times.
