good morning all
Hi and hugs, Sprite
Hope all's well with you.
*hugs Liz* Good to see you. I will send you a new series to read today. You might like it. Very well written series about a cop who has become a chaplain, and after a crisis has started working as chaplain in a prison. But he can't forget he is a cop too and when things happen, he works as a detective to solve them.
Sounds good. Thanks. Reading Chainfire now :)
yeah I am ok. Just very, very tired. But, Rob is feeling better today and will start doing some chores again, which means I can begin to re4 a little, I hope
ah great! Fascinating, aren't they, chainfire and phantom? I enjoyed them very much.
That's good - for both of you.
hehehe german for crime scene is in the grid
not valid though
I'm enjoying Chainfire more than some of the others. I really like the series but think perhaps in places he was too long winded. He's got point to make but sometimes takes too long.
{{hugs}} for my two favourite peeps. good morning sprite. g'day liz
Hugs, Rose
yes I agree. He could have done with a bit more intensive editing in the later books. You can tell he has become too big and famous and the publisher is careful with him.
Very true.
*hugs rose* Good evening, dear friend. How did your day go? Are you rested a bit?
you could say that sprite. we BOTH came slowly awake at about 9:30am. how was your yesterday and night?
I think you will love the chaplain series, Liz. The stories are good and well written, but the language is beautiful too.
That sounds good. Don't remember the last time I slept that long!
chap came and measured for the new security door today. it will be 2-3 weeks before it is fitted. :-(
I'll look forward to it. Got lots to read :)
oh how wonderful, rose. Am so glad :) My days and nights are bumpy, I am just too tired. Singing was fun. Got a great compliment about my performance this weeked :) But day ended in a fight with Rob. He can be such an ass sometimes. So I didn't sleep very restfully.
Aw that's tough Sprite
naughty Rob.... what did he do/say?
Great about the compliment though.
isn't it great, Liz, to know you have several books and series waiting for you to read? I so remember the times before epubs... me standing for a very full bookcase and wondering which one I could rerereread without getting bored.
he was scratching himself with the new remote and I said not to do that. He blew up and wanted to know if I didn't have anything better to do that harassing me. Nice, after a full week of intensive caring for him and picking up all chores, huh... ugh.
than harrassing him*
I still retread my favourites though and recently a friend sent me a real book.
I still love real books and I read them too. And I still reread my favourites often. It is just easier to have enough to read always. And easier to explore new series and books.
That's for sure. I love using my iPad to read. I also love having such a great choice of books.
rose chasing a squirrel?
Could be! I miss squirrels. Used to love watching them - so agile.
nope, right here. :-P
lol ok... since you didn't respond to what I said about Rob... I was wondering :D
squirrels are amazing to watch. I know in some places they are pests, but here they are not and I love love love seeing them.
But then again, though I had squirrels in London, here I have so many different and colourful birds.
and whales! Don't forget whales!
Season is just starting :) will probably go out for the first time next week or the week after.
so lovely
Koalas and kangas too.
I would swap our squirrels with all that too if I could :D
re Rob...still fuming on your behalf. then i sneaked out. i remembered i had some rocky road chocolate which i bought at the chocolate factory on Phillip Island.
I look forward to seeing squirrels in London.
ooooo *beams over to rose's with a spoon*
I'll stick with the bread we just got out of the oven - smothered in butter!
it is yummy. the chocolatier has used true rose turkish delight in it.
hold the butter, gimme the bread :D
sounds interesting, rose!
:) though Rose's chocolate does sound yummy. I just don't eat much chocolate.
it's okay liz. *puts on brave face* i'll eat your share
ok... things are looking up. Rob just came up and said he is sorry about last night.
That's good, Sprite.
it would look more convincing if you'd hide the drooling, rose...
Don't force yourself, Rose cos I might force myself!
lololol
yeah it is. Feels a lot better now.
okay so the man said he is sorry. until the next time.... and i am not a cynic.
yeah well, none of us is perfect, so that is ok. Next time it might be me being an ass. So it's ok.
*giggle* ikr ? did you read my email?
yes with lots of pleasure, lol. Will write back today. Today is MINE... not gonna do too much. Arrange for celebrating Tim's birthday on saturday, is all. And take a long shower.
Really happy to have seen you both - time for me to leave. Hugs.
*hugs Liz* Have a lovely evening, Liz
{{hugs}} liz. enjoy your evening
do you have plans for tomorrow, rose?

Hi Sukee, Dawger, and Bichon.
How did your art show go Scrabs?
It is on Saturday from 8:30-1.
Have a great time
I have so much to do to get ready.
good morning
Did you hear that the police may investigate the parents of the boy who slipped into the gorilla area at the zoo in Cincinatti? It wasn't as if th mother was off doing something else.
Hi Car
Well, what WAS she doing?
Morning all ! By her own admission, she had turned AWAY from the toddler (even after he said he wanted to climb in the pen) to manage some other children. So I think an investigation is warranted.
She had other kids and the boy, contrary to her directions slipped in. And why wasn't the exhibit more secure
And why is 1 adult allowed to bring in more children than she can manage?
gooooooood mornin babblers!
Hi Eva. How many weeks now?
23 weeks this past monday. :)
Excellent.
MIL is taking us this week to FINALLY get a registry started. im excited!
Don't get too much unnecessary stuff. Get the essentials.
oh, agreed. i figure OTHER PEOPLE will get all the unnecessary stuff...heh
Babies puke and poop a lot, so have lots of diapers and clothes.
Oh, and they grow...fast.
I'm helping to plan a baby shower right now and it is so much fun!
yeah. the book ive been reading gives a number for how many diapers babies go through in the first year. if hubby were to do that math, hed faint!
Save money and buy terry toweling nappies, re-usable!!
rale
oops
And babies are gas machines and they are fussy the first 4 months, so get the parents gripe water for the baby and a swing is life-saving.
When I was in Babies R Us the other day, I was amazed at all the stuff they have come out with just in the past 13 years. But I did notice that some of it plays on new parents fears. Didn't like that.
A swing! OMG Yes! A swing!
I agree, sandr. Cloth-diapers are ecologically sensible.
my MIL has been scouring the swaps, mom-sales, and yard sales. shes gotten us a number of different kinds of each thing, since you never know what baby will take to. then, the ones he doesnt want, we can re-swap later! (luckily, we've got the space)
There are so many gadgets and gimmicks--to heat baby wipes now!
im very interested in cloth-diapering, but im not sure its for us. financially, it seems to be a wash with disposable diapering, but once im back to work, it means a LOT more laundry...which is already going to be a lot more, just from having the little guy to start with! plus, im not sure hubby is even remotely sold on the idea...
I must get ready for work now, so I can reassure parents now about their puking, gassy, fussy, healthy babies, and sassy, defiant, healthy kids, and eye-rolling, sighing, door-slamming teens.
LOL...thank God for you Scrabs!
*deep breath* I must be patient and compassionate even when I am not in the mood. Two nights of 6 hrs of sleep = Miss Cranky Pants.
you can DO it!
Stats please for the A in the second column?

ahh. i love making lists. it feels so fulfilling to cross something off when youre done. sometimes i even write "make list" as my first item, just so i can cross something off right away!
I do don't do lists and put don't do so I can cross it off.
not even a shopping list?
our 12 week old is currently out cold in his swing. Swings are magical.
You had another baby? Congrats
heh, i feel like there are a LOT of things you can put on a "Dont do" list ;)
When I list I worry about fainting
I did, thank you! He was born in March, less than two yeatrs between him and his sister which may or may not have been a good idea
congrats, mael on your new little guy
he's a good little man, sleeps 8-10 hours straight at night (I must have accidentally sacrificed something to an elder god for that one)
yes, that is wonderful
My daughter [adopted] was sleeping 12 hrs. a night when we got her at 2 months
it's a life saver. My first was a good sleeper too but this is amazing. He must have gotten the memo that since mama has a toddler to chase around too, waking up every couple of hours was just not going to be a good idea for anyone :)
A baby is God's opinion that life should go on. Carl Sandburg

Good morning, Babblonians!
Hi Judi
I'm so DC oriented. I thought Eva's post said Gallery Place
ugh. i hate having my car serviced -- i never know what of the list of things they recommend REALLY need to be done. and what a decent price is for each item...
hah molly! i work right by there, so it rings "home" to me as well!
Are you at the dealership, Eva?
i wonder if anyone has put up such info on the web? what decent prices are for various car repair jobs i mean.
In most cases, I think the cost of labor exceeds the parts needed for repairs. Most places always try to "up sell" you on something else. I hate the up sell.
yes, but decent hourly rates in various locales might ALSO be posted somewhere online
True. Never hu5 to shop around.
right now my car is at the dealership (which i know always charges more) so im trying to figure if it's worth the savings to take it somewhere else, being that it will take more time...
best of luck eva :) ttfn

Old Crazy Al comes in handy a lot in this game.
He seems less crazy these days, compared to other politicians in your country and mine...
I would say Al Gore is more irrelevant than anything these.
If I were him I'd be a bitter man. To have your whole future turn on such an arbitrary decision
welll i popped back in and found the 9- was trying for another r from the first column lol
I wonder if we'd even be stuck in Iraq if the supreme court had decided the other way.
we will never know unfortunately Harry- it was a regrettable decision- at least to me
I think gore/lieberman would have been terrific - they both seemed very level-headed.
since then, everything has gone wonky.
He was prescient and sensible AND smart
and calm
:-) indeed
Did everybody see Trump's news cofference yesterday? It was like a bully in the playground, calling reporters names!!!!
lol- it works for him- very scary for us tho. very
It's yhe reporters he reviles who have propelled him this far, FREE!
yup
I have to go- my car is ready to pick up at the shop have a good day all
He incites people to violence; I was yelling at the TV
all that free coverage at the beginning of his campaign. yup
bye wolvie
bye wolvie
The press covers the front-runners. Presidential candidates are news worthy. Hence "free" press.
there's a horde of angry voters out there who eat this stuff up - my wife's brother in law is one of them. You have to see the stuff he reposts on his facebook page - very frightening
3 surgeons were discussing their most challenging cases....
does the ab6 come from the 2nd a third column?
the first one talked about reattaching the severed fingers of a concert pianist who later went on to play a command performance for the queen...
Hello Nan, what's the punchline? (like 3 guys walk into a bar....)
sotty
hi ruby
(sorry*)
hi MLF
the 2nd one talked about a runner who had his leg mangled in a car accident. After several surgeries the guy won an olympic gol medal.
holding breath....and the 3rd one?
the 3rd surgeon said his most challenging case was a cowboy who rode his horse into an oncoming train.....wait for it.....
Not sure if that horde qualifies as voters yet. Angry protesters more obvious. A large portion of which are funded by political support groups on both sides. Paid protesters. Many of them don''t even know what they are supposed to be protesting. They get paid, so they show up and create some havoc.
all that was left was a hank of golden hair and the horse's ass, but he reattached them....
and now he is running for president of the united states
I was alrerady laughihg. THANK YOU
found my first 8!
lol, nan! Good one.

What is frightening, is that he continues to get the support he does...

OK bichon. Are you on a low carb diet too?
ty Glantarell - incidentally, were you the Welsh lady I had chatted with regarding hubby's Welsh relatives?a while back
yes Flosey, I have been off Babble for a while
Yes, at least for refined carbs, like potatos and white bread
Type 1 or 2 diabetes Bichon?
we have been in contact with some of them - and found some in Victoria
of, well done Flosey
type 2. That was discovered 20 years ago. Now I have it under control with oral meds and diet [as well as exercise]
off now, bb at flip
Hospitals and local medical centres in the Netherlands have been working together to help type 2 diabetics reduce meds or even not take them altogether. There is a video somewhere on this website - and lots of other interesting stuff - http://www.dietdoctor.com/the-food-rev\nolution-2016?utm_source=Diet+Doctor+Ne\nwsletter&utm_campaign=c493e7c5a8-Test&\nutm_medium=email&utm_term=0_41db911777\n-c493e7c5a8-463609085
I thought you were in Wales Glant
I am
But according to my doctiors I have been borderline diabetic for 10 years, so I thought I'd do some research
I am trying to make sure I don't move form borderline to diagnosed :-)
the best thing you can do is stay away from refined carbs and exercise
I am staying away from as many carbs as I can, which is also helping me lose weight without calorie counting. I was walking 4-5 miles a day for most of last year but seem to have lost my mojo over the winter
I initially lost 50 lbs
I've lost about 18lbs so far
4-5 miles a day is really good
Need to lose another 30lbs for myself, docs would probably say to lose 45 but I look ill when I am that thin
funnily enough, i didn't lose any weight walking - and I don't dawdle
I eat a whole grain cereal [like oatmeal] with flax seed meal in it
You brobable burned off about 600 calories by walking
Quinoa is good for you as it is a root crop and not a grain
yes, but the weight didn't change in 2 years of that level of exercise and 'healthy eating'
I like quinoa
lots of veggies
i find that it's about 100 cals per mile
but i recently read that short bursts (even like 1 min) of high intensity exercise can boost your metabolism, so i'm trying to add that in to my exercise habits. also green tea is supposed to boost metabolism so i also have added that... iced right now!
When they say 1 minute they mean a really really intensive minute of the kind that makes you feel sick hurshy
did you see the horizon programme with Michael Mosely about exercise?
He tested the theory, good to watch if it is still on iplayer
so close to adorable.
I know, right? And 'adorbs' doesn't work lol
I was thinking "adorate" :)
good one!

and thank goodness for lickety as well --- a lot of strange words in this one
see you at the flip
Well, it helps if the person asking for a clue indicates which da7 they are looking for. The first da7 sounds a bit like a crustacean with big claws that you eat with lemon and butter.

Thanks and yw
Any clues before I head off to the shops?
It's usually the US spellings of words that I miss!
You mean those words without the extra U's? : D
I still don't get that. It's colour but not actour. Humour but not terrour.
I love the extra u's and most of the other extras too - except I've never seen ether spelt with an a at the beginning except in babble!
Who said that English was logical? bough, sough, rough etc
Not to forget cough!
Enjoy your evenings everyone - I'm having a day of cooking!
*Loves Liz because she has a sense of humor about it.
Loves ya too Molly - especially for your rock music clues :)
Humour even ;)
Blame Latin to Middle English to Anglo-English on where the U lives with OUR words. Just remember how silly I before e can end up.
re7/36.....clue please
Put it on the back burner again
Or does that mean on the agenda?
Or does that mean on the agenda?
Put it back on what you set for dinner

oops, that's adorable
nobody else seems to be here so I'll say hello--though on my way to bed! just xchecked in, I only have 128, that's enough. Youre a book person and so I notice you!
usually the other book person is here too.
bookwomen
hi roundbarn! long time no see
I usually play first thing when I get up, then check in late at night when you two are playing. I am trying to get /Vol 4 finished before it finishes me!
good luck! i know how hard writing / editing / proofreading can be
my editor is off guiding at Yellowstone, so various parts have stood still. Rasta has an index ready to go--she sometimes comes on and helps with a word here. Some of the chat is fun--today a discussion about cloth versus paper nappies--as those of us who hd babies in Britain have always called diapers. I listened, didn't put in my two cents.
i'm trying to get nbt without using any helps, still stuck on two, going to have to open up my cheat sheet (I too have nothing to say about nappies / diapers)
I'll sign off. Nappies are better for the invironment--and when I had babies, for the first two, paper ones hadn't been invented yet!
nighty night
adorbs is not a word?!?!? omg lol
FW!!! at last!
