Came to Dublin for a wedding. First time to Dublin. London is just because it is my favorite city and gives me a chance to spend a few more days with my son.

ty sprite and rose - I'm only half awake...almost 2AM here, and I haven't slept well the last couple of nights...need to go sleep instead of having busy brain!

*sings lullaby for Kamanjah*
yayyy for Deacon!
hahahaha sprite. and when he spotted his granny he gave the sweetest smile and waved like crazy.
ZZzz....
meanwhile his father and i are yelling 'watch the ball'
you laugh, rose, but see, my lullabies work like a charm. Kamanjah is already sleeping. Might be to escape my singing voice, but as long as it works... ;)

Good morning all, another tiny one.
hello Sukee, between the grey, damp weather and the tiny grid, I feel like going back to bed
We have exactly the same weather this morning.
This is the weirdest spring, ver!
here too
If we don't get somesunshine soon, there'll be no fruit this year
((bichon))
do you have the flooding that's hit the Seine
Only the roses like it
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day, up to around 30C but today is going to be around 20C and rain. But, we do need some.
No, happily, our rain has bddn frequent but light AND the huse is on a hillside
Sorry, agoutthetypos, but I can't seewhat I write and my son chided me for using caps, says it'svery rude!!
Nothing wrong with using caps in here :)
"No allowances for his oldmother!'
thank you sukee§
Good morning, everybody :)
ruby, ty for the email about the photos on gravestones. If you go to the family cemetary plot, you will see the same photos
I TRIED, BUT COULDN4T EVEN SEE THAT!
((CROSSY))
Hi crossy
BYE FORNOW, KIDS, BUT IT'S TOO FRUSTRATING SEEING SUCH A BLUE
Take care
We are fortunate here. getting nice sunny days and rain in their proper measure. was amazing yesterday and is lightly raining now. everything is so green :)
We haven't had too much rain, should get enough today. Yes, I got my first sunburn yesterday, dummy me :) Only a little bit of my neck.
wear sunscreen. can send you pictures of my melanoma scars for inspiration if you like :)
I try to. I went shopping and didn't have my purse, just cards. My sunscreen is in there. I was sitting outside waiting for my ride.
I have a 50 sunscreen :)
:( Glad it is a small one then :)
Didn't even have my Jays hat with me.
Of course, i was asking for it. Spent all of my 20's on a construction crew wearing little more that shorts, safety boots and a light coating of oil as we worked in the blazing sun all day.
Did get a new scratching post for the cats. However, they keep getting stuck on it :)
I had some nasty burns as a kid.
Our cats love their kitty jungle gym
Plus, it saves the furniture
Eventually when I move I want to get something bigger.
They do like their scratching post though, the last one was unwound.
I have had to rewind ours several times
They love scratching at the rope
The new one has carpeting at the bottom and rope at the top. Hopefully, they will start using it more and stop getting their nails caught in it.
For Emily, wherever I may find her.
And Lisa, Liza, Mel & Neil.....
morning, everyone (magne = wrapped in organdy. do i have the right song?)
Hi welki and sood and Kaplan
Morning all :-)
Okay, I am going to eat breakfast. 21 to go.

mm that link may not work
Pretty song :)
the song that kap referred to?
Hello??
ub
and good morning
Ub to you too Annie. : D Big storms headed our way.
I know. It is so foggy out I can't see out the window.
I hope there is no bad flooding. Last time, my car floated away.
Im going to turn out the Weather Channel. Be right back.
New York City amazes me. This little piece of land, surrounded by water with a zillion big buildings on it.
Lousy weather today, thunderstorms, flood advisory for south brooklyn (that's me). I know, Molly, and they are building more. I will be driving into Manhattan Tuesday, bucking traffic. The only thing that bothers me is the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. It goes on forever and I always think I will never get out.
But I do. :)
good morning. This grid is not as trivial as it looked at first glance.
morning, Harry.

well said...
61 yesterday. Babble violations for weekend grids.
agreed...
Enough whining, I must dive in and enjoy what is here today.
I agree scrabbler. Busy as anything tomorrow, so sure to be a nice 300 plus fattie
Yes, I have almost no time tomorrow.
Happy Sunday~
hi hego...
I love grad school - truly - but whooooo the amount of work! looking forward to summer break
hello everyone
When does school end, Trif? Are you teaching summer school? And 3rd question is: are you taking a course this summer?
hi...
Hi Hego and Owl?
small as this one is, i have 18 left and a letter without any entries.
Hello TO, and penquis, and hego, and all
Hi Scrabs!
hi scrabbler?
school where I work ends june 20th for students, June 21st for us, grad school ends the last week of June, I'm not teaching summer school but I am still tutoring as well, and that might continue over the summer.
I have to take some licensing exams over the summer, so I will be studying BIG TIME for them for at least two weeks.
my sil is teaching summer school for the first time ever this year. since they lost their summer home to sandy and have kids in college, she signed on.
oh man, TO. the shortened day does make it easier, in some ways, but way harder in others. You are working with kids who 100% do NOT want to be there, too, which is an added challenge. On the plus size, the classes are usually quite small, so you really get to know the kids
6 weeks of pay probably seems worth it to her. right, Owl?
ooh, trif, whatever happened to that hard tutoring case you had?
My daughter gets paid all summer.
i guess. life must get back to as normal as it can be, post cancer
I stopped tutoring her in March. The next one quit after a month. The new one is sticking it out, but the student sits and cries for an hour straight.
which she still blames sandy cleanup for
god bless you, trif
God has, TO.
Mental illness (anxiety, school refusal/phobia/inability to cope with life in general) is rampant in kids and parents (mothers) are enabling quite well. It is SO challenging, and teachers such as Trif encounter this every day.
i am glad i am not working with those cases anymore...
Not to mention the premature puberty.
my brother had it. it was awful. just awful.
there has been some great upset around here lately, most of which I don't really want to talk about, but let's just say....I am declaring this the summer of ME. It sounds selfish, but it really isn't. More of a self-preservation thing.
school phobia, that is.
gtg, have fun all. nice to see you
I had a nephew who was a school phobe. He's a teacher now.
xoxox TO
There are so many struggling children with emotional issues and parents that are also struggling in so many ways. It is so sad and worrisome. Teachers face so many challenges with all of these kids and parents, I don't know how you do it.
I'm beyond frustrated with this girl's situation. she needs real HELP and the parents aren't doing it.
I wish we could learn the truth about home life. How many of these kids have parents that are alcoholics, drug abusers, physical abusers, etc? Kids don't tell us what we need to know and the parents certiaily don't.
the school is trying to drag me into filing all sorts of stuff about her. I will fill out factual sheets and such, but they want me to give opinions about her "condition" and that is WAY beyond my scope, professionally.
That is not fair to you. A clinical psychologist needs to assess that child.
THANK YOU
You can state your observations and you can recommend that a clinical (not school) psychologist evaluate her. That is in the child's best interest. It is only fair to the child who is clearly struggling.
the mother is a real piece of work. and by work I mean sh**. February vacation I left exact, written instructions of work that was to be completed. NONE of which was done. The mom tore me a new one, saying that "no one told her" that her kid had work to do, so how was she supposed to know? A total lie, and a total farce. I was there an hour a day - she was there the other 23. DO YOUR JOB, lady!
hmmm.... a good school psychologist can do a good evaluation....and usually takes into account school information as well as parent information....outside clinical psychologists often just see the parent's point of view...
So sad. So many parents are not doing their job of preparing their child for adulthood. Put everything in writing and keep copies or email is even better.
none of that would matter in this case. They have a pediatrician who CLEARLY doesn't care, and writes letter after letter saying the girl can't go to school for medical reasons.
NONE of which are elaborated on.
you don't know how many times I wish YOU could see her, scrabbler!!!
Sorry, penquis. I didn't mean to criticize all school psychologists. Our local ones suck and label all kids with ADHD and recommend meds.
well not all suck... ;o)
Is that what you do?
it's what i did....i am retired....
It is sad, Trif, when parents enable their kids and forget that the goal of parenting is to emancipate their child and prepare their child for adulthood.
the mom works nights, and I rather think she LIKES having her daughter home during the day. it's so twisted.
Aha, penquis. Sadly, the young ones these days are not the quality of the ones from the old days. Truly, the default diagnosis is ADHD and meds are quickly recommended.
many was the day I got there at 2, after school had finished, and the child was JUST waking up, having hung out with her mom at all hours, when she got home. there is NO WAY this kid could get to school by 7. and the mom is completely enabling it
So, Trif, it is a co-dependent relationship.
in my NON professional opinion
I think we mustn't forget how very rough it is for families today.
Both parents must work and try to raise their kids, it's a struggle.
Even clinical psychologists, the younger ones, use ADHD as the default diagnosis for every school and behavior problem and quickly recommend meds rather than first using behavior therapy.
Oh, Trif, that girl is not being parented. Her mother is her pal.
I agree, hego, but when I child needs help that is non-medical in nature, parents should set aside their biases and get the kids help
Of course
Far too many parents have relinquished their roles as parents and are merely friends with their kids. Kids are no longer prepared for adulthood. The millennial generation is wreaking havoc on college campuses (mental health issues) and for HR departments of corporations.
whoa whoa whoa just monkeyed a 7!
well done you!!!

bye penquis, and thanks again
yw....bye...
wow, the heaven's just opened here! to be honest, I am glad. worked VERY hard outside yesterday, and could use a quiet day inside.
We are going to have a day of thunderstorms but it has not happened yet.
Bye penquis
my garden this year makes me smile. it's doing so well! I am truly learning what I can grow and what I can't.
I even have six pots of potatoes going!
Wow!
I know! I am sure that by the end of the summer they will average out to $40 a pound in care and maintenance, but I care NAUGHT - it's so fun to watch them grow.
I used to love growing potatoes. Though those colorado potato beetles are truly disgusting - the way they spray when you squish them
There was a place called Ronnigers where I'd get all my seed potatoes - they had so many varieties - I used to get my garlic and onions from them as well
the ongoing fish pond saga is a WHOLE 'nother affair....the fish, tadpoles and other critters I took out of the pond are now happily ensconced in a canoe filled with water whilst I continue to drain and fill the pond. the other day Secondo saw a snake bobbing for fish in the canoe, like it was a damn buffet set up for his convenience. jerk!
wow trif - you've got quite a little farm going!
Haha, I love your description, Trif.
I live in the Discovery Channel
The stoooopid snake was so full of fish he couldn't get away. A**hole
Haha. I worked with someone that killed and gutted a snake to save a freshly swallowed koi from her pond.
I'm not THAT brave! I try to be zen about it...the snake needs to eat too, I guess.
Hello!!!!
Hello Car
I think it should be a rule that no Sunday grid can be less than 250 words.
I don't do the koi thing anymore. We did when we started the pond - named them all, etc. And then the heron would come and decimate it, the kids would be in pieces, etc. NOPE. So I went to Petco, bought 20 feeder fish, chucked them in and wished them luck. Have about 60 in their now, of all ages.
hello CAR my love!
i agree car. huge weekend grids.
cup of coffee...bacon...omelet...big grid. It's all I really need.
Not to mention, this grid a little bugger...
I was going to go into town to shop but I am watching Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic play the French Open final.
I already have been shopping. ugh.
hi folks, help with the y pls
Hi peri!
Hi Peri

Hey, I had em7 and forgot that I had it.
*is concerned about scrabs*
my 6/27, pls
I need breakfast. My blood glucose must be about 50.
I am glued to the tennis match, Ruru!
Well, to be fair, she is smitten with her tomatoes.
? huh?
12 cherry tomato plants that will produce fruit in 60-65 days!
That
That's a helluva lot of cherry tomatoes. Hope you really like eating them.
seems like a lot to me.. they really produce
do the bunnies eat them?
I eat them right off of the plants. No, bunnies don't eat tomatoes.
My bunny steals the dogs biscuits
I had two one time in the garden and couldn't keep up with them
You have a house bunny, TQ? I have raised house rabbits since 1983 and have 2 now. I adore bunnies!
I've got two Scrabbler French Lops
.... and they called it "bunny love"...
"if you love some bunny....
I had a French Lop named Peter Rabbit. He died in 2001. He was very sweet.
"you're nobody till some bunny loves you"...
It's a hare rain a gonna fall... (bob Dylan)
These are rescues so came with their names Bertie and Chardonnay
I'm missing a l 6
/\ /\
It's Bertie that likes dog biscuits
my 6/27, pls
Mine are rescues too, but I changed their names. I have Sir Gulliver Rabbit, a mix, with one straight ear and one lop, and a tri-colored mini-Rex name Remy Martin.
Just drop a vowel off the end of the my7, Bich.
I had my6 and not my7, Judi, so TY.
ty judi
Bertie is normal rabbit colour Chardy is ginger with a black face she is so pretty
Smooch them for me, TQ.
I will.
arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh.. a stupid plural
Remy Rabbit just ran out from behind the couch and he is running upstairs.
These two are snoozing at the moment. First thing in the morning they are usually asleep in the armchair
Another grid bites the dust!
So cute.
Skies have yet to open up here. Only a matter of time tho. Sky getting darker.
wow jude
Don't feel bad, Ru. I was stumped by the sy4.
I meant the sky
going to be cooler here today
Muggy as hell now. Air dead still. Should look at the weather radar and see how bad it will be.
waves to all the lurkers
Joins Ruru in the wave.
I hate muggy
*lurker waves back, Ru*
Off to clean up the kitchen. See y'all tomorrow!
Yes Judi, it is humidity central here on the right coast.
Scrabs, my friend has had bunnies. Love them. :) Chased one around her yard (domestic rabbit) that should not have been out there. She rescued Bunny Boy.
good morning molly
Holy crap--radar looks awful for eastern PA
How nice, CJ, that she rescued that bunny. Too many people think they release domestic bunnies into the wild.
She also had a dwarf rabbit. Cutest damn little guy.
I also have guinea pigs and chinchillas Scrabbler
Good morning Mr. Rocks : P
which are the easiest to raise, bunnies or guinea pigs
chinchillas?
My best rabbit ever was a Netherland dwarf named Sebastian. We had a close bond.
I would get all those creatures minxed up
I don't think there's a great difference peri the piggies aren't as loose so the wire chewing isn't a problem
I remember Sebastian
I have never had guinea pigs or chinchillas, but I have had gerbils and hamsters.
I was the "bunny sitter" when she went away. Loved spending time with them.
Bunnies are cleaner because they use a litter tray
I really want to have a pet. Have had several kitties over the years.
I also have a pair of degu
want something low maintenance
*note to self.. look for Norwegian short people for scrabs*
Netherland dwarf rabbit not Norwegian, Ruru.
I've had gerbils in the past
*plans on excursion to look for Netherlands short people for scrabs*
*check list*
How much do you like hiking, kayaking, snow shoeing and cherry tomatoes?
Ruru they have very small ears
I actually prefer tall, dark, handsome, very intelligent men, Ruru, as well as that list.
oh..
(sends gimli home)
You don't want much then Scrabbler
*wonders how dark?*
Aw, Gimli is cute, but I want an Italian guy.
most Italians aren't that tall though scrabs
Some are.
*is thinking of a Fish called Wanda scene*
Years ago I'd have said no way to a motor bike rider. We've been married 30 years this summer
Where do you live, TQ?
I'm in the UK
I have read the UK Rabbit Welfare website many times.
Essex
The problem is people see these tiny hutches and assume that because they are for sale that they are suitable. But so often a bunny can't stand upright or stretch out
Small hutches are awful.
These two have a huge dog crate with their litter tray in it. But no door. They sometimes sit in it but rarely
Usually just hop in use the tray and out again
Ailiment
Sorry
My bunnies have always been litter-box trained.
Whereas piggies "go" wherever
My bunnies have huge dog crates in their bedrooms, with litter boxes, water dish, dish for pellets, tray of hay, but they are loose. One bunny is in his room, another has the entire house.
These have the run of downstairs
Better be going its carrot chopping time. I'm sure they can tell the time. Shredded wheat carrots and broccoli tonight
Bye all
Bye, TQ. I need to get into town to shop too.
measily not found in dictionary?thats a measily sort of dictionary
