*smug* right column all greyed out
*shaking head* really sprite?? how clever are you? ...warmest of hugs and good morning my dear friend.
ikr? I am full of admiration for myself. *hugs* my dearest friend. How are you today?
not too bad. finally caught up on all the clean laundry in time to do this weeks washing... lolll.... and himself forgot all about the sheets etc in the machine for the last two days. he has hung them out in the fresh air.
good work, both of you. And I hope you have rested up a bit from church day.
i have had to remind him four times re that load of washing.
men... can't be bothered by all dem household chores, they can't
all quite on the western front, honey. and you? how did you sleep la4 night?
mwah, kinda shortish. I had a chat shift yesterday afternoon, and then a nightshift this night, from 3 till 7 am. Not sure why I scheduled my shifts so close together! But after babble I will get groceries and then this afternoon a nice nana nap :)
pregret - being sorry beforehand for something you know you are gonna do anyway
fw and off to bed, goodnight all
squirrel...
wtg flosey, and sleep well
yuck, sprite. but as you say, you can catch up this afternoon. sweet dreams flosey
WTG FLOSEY!!
*giggle* pregret.... like when you open your mouth and can't stop what you are about to say.
and your brain brakes are screaming.... nooooooo
international squirrel... made it all the way from Aus to here in a minute
*giggles* exactly... "I pregret what I am about to say to you..."
roflolol
I had to dry a little doggie... who went all blissful and closed-eyed about the attention, lol
*super squirrel* can leap continents in a single bound
amazing little creatures, aren't they
awww bless him
so sweet. He may not be the smartest of dogs, but he is definitely the sweetest
wow, found 4 7s already. No 8s or 9 yet, but still.
i think a good te6ament is a must have in a pet.
absolutely. Atalante suggested this breed for me and she was right all the way.
has Caya any results yet from her exams?
no, not yet. She will hear on Rob's birthday, so that is 16 of June.
nearly there then. is she getting jumpy?
not at all. She will be, prolly, on the day itself, but in fact we already know. She did great.
brb, nature calllllllls
np's
back. Good grief
what was all that splashing? *looks suspiciously at sprite* did you try to drown the rubber duckie?
as my darling husband would say (a real Amsterdammer, born and raised): I only have to die now. Am already rotten on the inside.
duckie!!!!!!!!!!!! Noooooo.... please say something?
better take him to the quack.....
quickly to the quack... duck! Too la4...
oh dear. are we mad or what?
no harm no fowl
stop it..... i have tears rolling down my face....<----laughing
*grins*
I think Rob is right... every time I have a nightshift, my bowels give me hell. :(
sorry honey. item on the news about another shooting in america. it's so sad.
:(
well it could be. a change in your biorhythms.
guess my body reacts very quickly to being overtired. Ah well. Not gonna let it stop me.
could you take whatever med you take when your bowels are like this, before you do your shift?
usually let it run its course (pun not intended) and don't take anything. But it is a good idea. I might get something and give it a try.
try immodium. it works well for me.
thanks. Will try it.
*wipes cold sweat from upper lip* There... cramps have subsided. Peace in da belly.
my poor love
you know how it is :)
sorry honey. you with your tummy. me with my neck and scalp. went for some magnesium.
*hugs*
fireflies. This was a wonderful grid.
WTG SPRITE!!
thanks darling. A big *hug* for you. Sleep well, rest even better and dream of gorgeous guys.
xoxox honey. get the chores done, and then have the rest of the day off... grannyrose's orders.
Morning all! How is everyone?
will do :D
hi and bye matty :)
Aaah - have a lovely day!
{{hugs}} matty. how's you?
I'm ok - today I shall mostly be putting books on bookshelves and getting rid of cardboard (we bought Ikea)
nice. but isn't amazing how much packing they use?
Oh dear lord, yes.
May I have stats please for the T and the E in the last column?
ed4/6
tr5/10
Thank you! That helped. How are you today, Rose?
not bad. caught up on the clean laundry, folded, sorted, ironed...in time for this week's washing... lolll
Yeah, I have to do some washing...if I can get to the tumble dryer (it's in the garage. Everything is in the garage)
lollll, sounds like a good excuse to me
It sounds a productive Rose :)
as for himself.... *sigh* i am trying to teach him how i wash the bathroom and bed linen. it has taken FOUR reminders for him to finish the task.
Geeeez. I get that problem when either my daughter or Jeff's comes to visit
and in case you think i'm a nag. they were over the la4 three days.
bbl. things to do towards dinner. xoxox
Enjoy your day!
Or evening, I should say
Anyone have the stats for the nine?
Premate = foreplay :)

Good morning
Morning! How's Wales this morning?
Very wet earlier, then sunny for a while and clouding back up now. I have 6 whole hours to myself and got excited by the sunshine but have now changed my plans form gardening to a bit of housework then crafting. Once I've babbled.
We are going to have rain this afternoon. Siiigghhh. are you in North Wales or South Wales?
south Wales, about half way between Caeerphilly and Merthyr Tydfil - where are you?
Just outside of London near Windsor (and the airport) - just moved here from West London (also near the airport)
convenient for the airport then :-)
My daughter lived in Uxbridge for a couple of years
A tad too much sometimes! Especially at night... Hey ho.
Yeah, we're not a million miles away from there. Nearest big(ish) town is Staines
if there is detergent, why isn't there tergent?
Hi all.
Does anyone have stats for the T in the last column please?
I think it's the tr4 music notation
if not then it's the tr5 pl of a very similar word
I got that and it is not it. Thanks though
Thanks glant!
yw
taking a break, back for the final 90 later
'Scuse me popping in. Just noticed Uxbridge mentioned. That's where I live!
Small world...
Hah Hydra! (or should that be Hail Hydra - geek reference)... not a million miles at all - I'm in Wraysbury
I'm actually just down the road from Uxbridge, going towards Hayes.
The joys of W London :)
Just looked Wraysbury up. Never been there but it looks lovely.
It's very pretty - a lovely little village. Just a lot of aircraft noise - unlike, it seems, Isleworth (where we moved out of), we get take offs here, which are louder
We are very well placed, between Uxbridge and Northolt, so hardly hear a thing. Just the occasional helicopter, or the Queen's fly-past!
I meant 'between Heathrow and Northolt'.
Oooh, nice.
Wraysbury has a cricket club, a bowls club, a tennis club, a football club, a windmill, a village hall - it's so English it hurts :)
As Northolt is a military airport as well as a civilian one, Heathrow planes can't overfly. My chief bugbear is the chavs with the ear-splitting motorbikes and cars with no silencers, that race past my bedroom window at night. As my mum used to say, 'every Eden has its serpent'!
I must visit Wraysbury. It sounds delightful.
Do - we could meet in one of the two pubs, both of which are great
I don't drive though. I'd have to look for ways of getting there on public transport.
There are a couple of bus routes here that start at T5 Heathrow, if that helps...
Yes, that would help. I just saw your ee cummings quote on your profile. I did my university thesis on his poetry. I think he's wonderful.
I love cummings. I too wrote a paper (on that poem, as it happens). You have a giant cat on yours - fabulous!
i sing of olaf glad and big
once a proud dreamhorse moved smoothloomingly
my father moved through dooms of love through sames of am through haves of give
I love that one.
I read that one at my father's funeral
Do you work during the week?
Not at the moment! Between jobs (resting?!)
I'm older than you - semi retired. Just do a bit of freelance writing and editing. We'll have to arrange something. I'm off soon to the Lakes to look after my sister's cats. Not back till July. I'll email you.
That would be great - it's my username, with the number 10 at the end, at gmail.com
You're a folk music fan, too. Same here. I used to have my own band, years ago.
Oh, that's very cool! My OH plays, folk, rock n roll, a bit of (gasp) bluegrass (though he claims not to like it) etc - every Tuesday in a pub in Norwood Green (near Southall)
And mine used to be a roadie for The Who!
Just sending you a short test email...
That is VERY cool - I love the Who. Sounds we've a bit in common! How hard would Norwood Green be for you to get to?
I don't know I've never been/to Norwood Green. Had to turn it into a poem, lol.
What's the pub called?
:D It's well served by bus routes (well, reasonably) and just across the bridge from Southall
Email received
The Plough, Tentelow Lane, Norwood Gree
Are you there every Tuesday?
Yep, from 9.00pm
I shall look it up. I won't promise to be there tomorrow, but I'll try to get along one Tuesday. Have to go out now. Laters....I really enjoyed out chat and it's inspired me to re-read cummings.

'morning, babblers
Hi welki
do you finally have a day off, scrabs?
I was off on Fri and went kayaking. I am off today but it is a day that I shop for my mother then visit with her. After I leave her I visit with my great-nephews for a few hours because they live nearby.
days off are hard work :)
Mondays are not really a day for me. I take care of mom then the little boys.
last day of a week long vacation for me and, although i love my work, i sure wish i didn't have to go back
Work sure interferes with life, but that paycheck and health insurance are needed.
sad, but true
Especially after so many years of working and with retirement in view.
i think that's what's getting to be - retirement in view, but not attainable for some time. robert browning got it wrong when he wrote, "a man's grasp should exceed his reach, or what's a heaven for." by the time i retire...
(getting to me, not getting to be)
I am 56 and will work til 70, I think, so retirement seems close, yet intolerably far away.
Our govt had the age limit for retirement pensions set at 67 (probably in hopes that more people would die "in harness" but it seems that the new powers that be are putting it back at 65. Not that it will be much. last time I got a notice about it, I was entitled to the lofty sum of $442.00 a month :)
cpp, like social security, is a minimal payment at best
Yup, beside, the govt is always "dipping" into it for something
te8/9
maximum cpp is about 1100/month and oas (old age pension) about 600/month - but you have to have worked for 39 years in canada before you can collect max cpp
hi, hurshy
$442/month!
hi
Hi hurshy
Marmalade - Reflections Of My Life - the world is a bad place, a bad place, a terrible place to live .... O, but I don't want to die ...
scrabbs, the canadian pension plan maximum is less than half the social security monthly maximum (about 2500)
What a dilemma, Byz.
...all my sorrow, sad tomorrrrrow hi, byz
Welki, I see.
I think it was Frank Zappa, Byz, that said: "Life sucks, but death? That bitch never puts out!" Sorry for the coarseness of that :)
Welki, are you entitled to any SS $?
yes - what i've heard (and what i'm hoping for) is that there's a possibility that when i turn 65, they'll pay out a lump sum
Good for you.
it'll help, but won't be near the max, since there were child-rearing years in there and all the time i've been up here. oh well, no sense complaining, we'll do what we have to do :)
(beautiful northern flicker on one bird feeder, goldfinch on another, snowy woodpecker on the third and a dozen birds on the ground - already, it's a good day!)
For those whom cpp/oap are to be their sole means of retirement income, Canada has a "top up" program to make sure there is a roof over your head, food in your fridge and electricity available.
We don't have snowy woodpeckers here. I will have to look that one up.
We have tons of pileated woodpeckers here
I have a pair of those, Crossy. They are fun to watch.
we just have peckers out here...and mostly they run companies in silicon valley
Ba da bum...*entrance Ruru*
hahaha - it's not a snowy woodpecker. it's a hairy woodpecker!
and really, that's what kind of bird it is
we have downy, hairy and pileated in this area
well.. I shouldn't comment on that
we have woodpeckers here but not sure what kind
the person who named them must have had one helluva sense of humor
I was just looking, welki, and couldn't find snowy woodpeckers. We have downy, hairy, pileated, and red-bellied woodpeckers.
you'd think he/she wouldn't have posted it for the pubic
snowy owls I have heard of and Snowy egrets
pb for ruru!
oopsie
i corrected myself, scrabber - no snowy woodpeckers, only hairy, downy and pileated ones here
I saw that, welki.
i made up a species :)
I just thought it was a western species.
I must get going now. Enjoy your day, folks.
Seems we have the following here: Lewis's woodpecker Red-headed woodpecker, Red-bellied woodpecker Downy woodpecker Hairy woodpecker American three-toed woodpecker Black-backed woodpecker Pileated woodpecker
bye, scrabs
seems you have a lot of peckers there cross
:)

good morning, everyone
hi cyber
halfway...taking a break
ty phae
nbt
will be back
you still here welki?
yep, still plodding along :)
I'm pretty sure there is something you can do with the cpp that involves sending photocopies of your kids birth certificates in and your child rearing years will be compensated as if you were working. The deal covers the concurrent years from the birth of the oldest until the youngest reached age 12 .
yes, that's true in canada. however, i was living/working in the usa during those years
oh - too bad! I've never taken advandtage of it as I figured it would all be clawed back anyway --- sometimes it doesn't pay to save and make good investments during your working years!
true enough - you get punished for saving
here in the usa.. they prevent you from early retirement by docking your monies if you are still earning too. Forcing one to retire at 66 and the attrition rate at that point is fairly high
there is no double dipping here either
same here as down below - the slackers, the under-the-table-wage-earners, the 'i didn't know you had to claim tips' service people - they get the max allowances and that's the same here, too, ru - for every year you claim pension early, they subtract a percentage of your benefit
*you can draw a pension from one company and work as a consultant for another, but not with the government
'course, there is a population of people who deserve, and get the maximum benefits - but those who've worked the system over the years and didn't save a dime (if there was a dime to be saved) seem to get the best deal; the most money and subsidies
*queues up "Money for Nothing"*
exactly

Pr is the first two letters of the word. 8 is how many letters in the word and 45 is the number of points for the word.
the help function is also a good place to start.

Lilliann, I am from the south. I live just outside of Atlanta now. There are lots of things to see here.
Hi Marjetta.i didn't mean to be rude about the South as i know there are more things than rodeos, and if i ever win the Euromillions or national lottery which is highly doubtful given my luck i would like to see them all aswell as see all the states...could take me a while though.I've always wanted to travel through the U.S and Canada.
Clue for the 9 pleaseI couldn't get it from what was given,
do you have the preceding 6 or 8?

So, what are you up to now?
Working, and helping with my parents.
I've not been on here for ages so i take it you are still doing the same job,and i hope your parents are ok?
I have not been here for ages either... I just started Babbling again after Chris died. He had asked me to let the Babblers know.
My parents are not doing well, they are both in nursing home now, and I go there almost every weekend.
I've just found out my mam has a tumour on her saliva gland, but luckily enough the consultant can remove it all with the gland and she should be ok.He doesn't think it is malignant but will get it tested when he's removed it,so fingers crossed.
*fingers crossed* Lots of prayers for your mum
Sorry to hear that Lil, but atleast they have you.x
Thanks hin.I'm sending good thoughts upto Chris, "The Legend",he was always nice to me on here.
Thank you!
i'm off to iron 2 school shirts and a pair of school trousers for the bairn as she has to wear school uniform this week for exams, even though technically she's not at school anymore...
Love that Private Education system!!!
Lil, it's been lovely to see you, i'm so sorry about Chris and your parents'.hugs to you and hopefully it won't be so long before we keep in touch again. Now i'm gone everyone else will come out and chat and clue!! :-)
Godthaab, she doesn't go to a private school
Oh, sometimes I get mixed up between British Private and The Rest of the World Private. Is it a public school that us colonials would call Private?
it's a normal high school
we don't pay for her to go
Oh. Well, I am a big fan of uniforms in the education system.
so am i, until she's now not officially going to the school because she is doing her G.C.S.E's and on Friday she will have left for life.
Very Excellent. I bet she's happy about that! How many G.C.S.E.s?
They're not allowed to stay in School in between exams as they aren't officially students' anymore, which is ridiculous as some live a fair way from the school and there is no school buses laid on and nowhere for them to go to in between and even if they live in a nearby village, by the time they get a bus, and get home, it's time to get on another bus back to school, so they miss out on revision time!
Us colonials? Godthaab, I hate to be the one to inform you but we drove the British out over two hundred years ago and have not been "colonials" since.
She already has 1 science Gcse that she did last year, now she's doing extended science and another seven or eight but overall, 22 exams
*advanced science
Hi Molly, nice to see you.

Hi Peri, lovely to see you, i've got to go and iron as i have to be up early tomn

oh bugger, sorry :-) i have to be up early in the morning as the bairn wants me to test her for her history exam which is in the afternoon.
Take care all.Might be back tomorrow..."Oh no" i hear people saying...
Molly, I am not talking about American colonials, I am talking about the outer provinces of Britain. i.e. Canada, India, etc.

hey aloyisius! :-)
hi Jen, hi stid.. nice to see you night people! (-:
:-) you're my good luck charm tonight, aloyisius, after 15 minutes of no progress, you show up and I get ten in a row!
wahoo, stid!
I really missed the boat on the "sm" words!
down to 66 -- not a bad evening, for a school night!
hope you are still lovin it, stid.. tuff profession, but .. so worth it
well.... it was a very difficult year, aloyisius. That's two in a row. I loved teaching middle school, but so far the effort of the littles is pretty extreme. Not sure my body is up to the challenge! Might end up moving back up to the older kids... but not yet . I'll give the littles one more year before I decide.
:-)
middle school .. whew.. that is why I taught high school.. understand
I was so "bad" in middle school, I don't know how my wonderful teacher coped.. but I will remember her forever
:-D I enjoyed the energy of middle school -- but... I like the "sweet" littles too. Tough decision. Have to see what my hips do next year... have been on cane and crutches a lot this year. :-(
I really enjoy the middle-ages and those kids need to have adults who love them BECAUSE of and not in spite of who they are as they begin to move away from childhood.
oh rats, sorry to hear that stid! Arthritis?
no, the stupid-dumb dislocating thing.
ding dong it! must be painful
yep, that's one way to put it... X-) but only two more kid hours and then I can rest and recuperate. If I can lose the stress weight I gained I think I'll be back to functional again.
well, stid.. you are my lucky charm too.. fw.. any clues needed before I do hit the sack?
How about you? Enjoying the retirement, I hope?
My cousin (a bit older, closer to Mother's age actually) in her retirement is teaching classes in watercolor and drawing. She's so talented... and now she gets to share with others.
oh YES ! not answering to the "tintinabulation" of the bells.. I LOVE it!
so glad to hear it!
well, I found 107 on my own, time to go to bed.
sweet dreams, Jen
sweet dreams, jen -- see you again soon!

I really should go too, have company coming tomorrow and a bunch of cleaning to do before they get here! G'nite all, zzzz
