whew!! {{hugs}} and good morning my dear friend. thanx for your email, and also your ge6 reminder about the Big Guy. xoxox
*hugs* hello my dear friend, I am happy to see you. How are you holding up?
have taken it very slowly today. so not hurting very much. and you? was your night any better?
FWs
I am proud of you! I know it is tough. But it is the only way to bear the waiting time until treatment. *warm hug* Mwah, night was bumpy. Highly unpleasant dreams.
WTG DIZ!!!
also, had to be up very early to drive Rob to work, work car is in maintenance. And I forgot a friend will come for coffee this morning :(
gz dizgrannie!
ugh on bumpy night. will you have a chance to rest later today?
i see.... not a lot of 'me' time then
not really. Must get groceries and cook dinner today too. My friend, who has been my friend since first grade, is someone who talks a lot... I might take an hour to nap after she leaves, and then go for the groceries.
sounds like a good plan honey.
yeah :) will find a way to make it all fit. With rest in between. Am happy to see her again, so it is all good. What are your plans for tomorrow?
taking a long time to do the washing. i.e. one load, sit for 30 minutes, etc... lollll if i take long enough himself may take over after he does the shopping.
taking it slow is the right way. And it won't hurt Don at all to take some of the load off your hands.
brb. what goes in must come out... or is that TMI?
roflol
and back. xoxox
wb hun
that's Atilla to you
hehehe if the shoe fits...
well open wide and i'll check...lol
:D
yup, that's big enough....*giggle*
:-O
it fits nicely, would you like a glass of water with it?
yes please
hey, guess what? sprite has two tongues in her mouth and Rob isn't home....
*pours said glass of water over Rose's head*
look ma, no tongues!
rofloll
hey on the news, someone is saying that a majority of people in the Netherlands want to leave the EU. have you heard anything?
no I haven't
this should be interesting. also talking about Denmark, Belgium and Italy may leave the EU.
are you loving this grid? i had such fun with it. only needed dictionary for about 10 words. i am getting better at recognising words with just the first two letters. once i don't ne4 that prompt i should be close to as good as you, broll, ruru
fireflies. Big but easy today.
WTG SPRITE!!!! and that answered my question... loll
you are already plenty good enough :)
bless you sweetie, thanx
ok sweetie, I have to go, my friend will be here soon. *hugs* and sleep well. Love as always!
{{hugs}} darling. take it as it comes with a good rest in between. enjoy your friend's visit. xoxox
broll needs all the help she can get to finish! I depend on the other, smarter people LIKE YOU to do it!
but thank you for your kind thoughts
So the racist, xenophobes and the uninformed masses have helped the non Europeans among you to have cheap (for the moment) holidays in the UK. Oh Discordia.
On the bright side, hey a Dark Tower reference :)
Yep! I'm a bit of a fangirl ;)
Yep! I'm a bit of a fangirl ;)
Me too! I'm bizarrely excited for the film, since they're going for a 'sequel'/last go around the wheel thing so they won't ruin the books (hopefully). And Idris Elba is the gunslinger.
Yes! The thing with King adaptations is they can be a bit hit and miss, though. Fingers crossed....
Lol, that's half the fun of anticipating them. Fingers *definitely* crossed on this one.
Cameron's resigned.
See, things aren't as bleak as we thought when we woke up this morning ;) Arrogant twat.
So we'll get Boris as Prime Minister and Gove as Deputy, with Farage as dickhead on the cabinet. The world indeed moves on.
Hello everybody, anybody
bonjour ruby!
just started....oh, how I love big grids! nbt is a snap
Me,too, Trif. Something to chew on
The littleones are no fun at all!
How are you?
oh that damned goose has the center all to itself! how excited it must be!
I'm okay. enjoying being off school. how are you?
We are supposed to have another scorcher and I love it! If hot weatther come, it is almosst always in June.
I love hot weather, I must admit. much better than cold
we are going to Ireland in july, for a week or so. I'm getting really excited
Currants are almost ready to be picked (not by me, the housekeeper's sons will do the picking). And I think there'll be a lot of figs, but they're late this year because of the cold spring.
Oh yes, you are so Lucky to hve a chance to meet Soodle!!
I wish I could travel; I'd be there in a heartbeat!
I am up to my eyeballs in lettuce at present....I planted way too much!
there are some seriously dubious past tense words today
That's funny, I never plants lettuce or anything soft because I can't use insecticide and there are slugs and other insects who would eat it immediately
I dont' know why it grows so well here...I don't use any sort of treatments either. and we have bunnies hopping all over, but they leave it alone.
All my Neighbors grow lettuce
I hope they share! that is one of the best things about gardening - sharing it out
Last year I had so many figs, that I was able to share them. And in good tomato years, I share them, too
(they don't share)
sorry, I am just reading up on what happened in the UK.
It is very depressing, watching the news. I think Brexit will impact the whole world
Xenophobia is taking over, making all of us less safe
yay, here comes lunch
Not sure of the connection between xenophobia and Brexit....
Many of us are very depressed today. The future suddenly feels uncertain. The ramifications will spread far and wide. Our PM has just resigned.
Agreed, Hydra.
well said hydra, struggling to understand peoples reasoning
could some one clue the re9 please
I have an re8 word, but no re9 yet, Jenny,
Re9 to put needle into arm again.
thanks zoozzoom
That is for the RE 8 & 9
Why can't I see the re9? I have re8 but it ends with ed.
So you can't pluralise it.
Different word altogether, Hydra.
Oh! Thanks, zoom
good morning all
Hello, Sukee.
Hiya, Sukee.
Back later.
Hi kids.
Hi scrabs
I have to run, nbt
have a good day all
You too, sukee.
Mornin' folksies
Hi bichon
I must get ready for work. Enjoy the day.
Have you had any rain where you are Scrabs? We've barely had any this month and I am tired of watering my flowers
A little bit yesterday, a few thunderstorms, but we are definitely behind in rainfall. The ground is dry and I have to setup my sprinkler for my gardens every 2-3 days.
I've grown some things in compost and they stay moister
I have 9 tomato plants in large pots and they are doing very well.
The woodchucks have eaten my neighbor's tomato plants, but not mine
Woodchucks aren't in our neighborhood but raccoons, deer, skunks, foxes, squirrels, etc are all scavengers for food.
OK, I must go now.
Hello
Another scorcher here and I love it!
Hello, Ruby
Hello Byz
Who else is here?
Do the dogs like the heat?
My Bichon loves to sunbathe
They either stay in the hiuse or in thee shade. I think their heavy coats actually keep them cooler, like Berbers in the desertin their wool grments
((bichon))
< having trouble typing vowels
What do modern artists eat for breakfast?
Surreal.
hahah
I thought it was a clue
Brilliant! Hi all.
Hi, Hydra, I saw your earlier post and I, too, am disappointed with the Brexit vote. I think we'll all be less safe now
Why would they want to exit the Union?
It seems crazy to me but then again, why would anybody support Trumpfff? You can never underestimate the stupidity of the people
Yes, then there's that. I saw a great sign on a lawn Republican for Hilary
good for you,bichon
I just woke up. I thought the sign was on your lawn, bichon.
No Republicans here Annie
same here, bichon.
Good Friday Morning!
Good morning, everyone :)
if you don't talk to your ca4 about ca6, WHO WILL?

Hi Peri
How is scrabby this fine day ?
phantom: intact
Working an extra shift this morning and I would rather be kayaking on a beautiful summer day. But I will hike this afternoon.
I have two perfect Trails set up, should you ever venture up this way. :)
My life has been far too busy for me lately--work, doing art projects, helping to take care of my great-nephews. I need more time for me to hike and kayak...to escape to Ontario!
Wife and I hiked the entire Petun Side-trail on the Bruce a week or so ago and it was amazing, and also the John haig Side trail. Both make for a great half-day hike or 3 hours each--give or take
Of three hours each*
I have a nice comfy couch, a bookcase full of books and a scrabble board, waiting for you if you ever can ever squeeze in some time to visit our area to check out our secret hiking paths.
My sister and I hiked over 8 miles last week and that was more than I like to do. I prefer a morning hike (3 hrs) and then afternoon kayaking.
That is what we prefer--3 to 4 k
half-day hikes
Ones where you can take your time and explore
Wife and son each picked up a set of those fancy adjustable hiking poles, but they seem to be fussy things that forever need adjusting. I think i shall stay with my fixed length poles.
We hiked so long that we had no time for a paddle. But that is because the map was confusing and we couldn't find the lean-to. We finally found it, had a late lunch, and hiked over 8 miles instead of 6. The map appeared to label trails as loops but it was confusing.
found the de 8/9 by myself *smug*
I adjust mine to 120 cm every time.
*Throws confetti at Annie : D
Whoa, Annie. Let me look.
The locks on the poles never seem to hold. they will be walking along and one will let go on them.
thanks, Molly
Haha, Crossy, that happens to me and it a weight issue. Tighten the screws.
I am actually using a old set of bamboo ski poles from the 50's, and they are beautiful things with leather wrist straps and comfy hand grips.
Nice.
Annie, share, pls
We are also eyeing some new day-packs. The Osprey Talon 22 seems to be very nice.

Hi Scrabs!
Enterovirus is epidemic in the summer and causes a variety of illnesses, especially in kids, all summer. Mostly we see kids with mouth sores/ulcers, and hand/foot/mouth disease, diarrhea, headaches/fever, and occasionally with viral meningitis.

Wow, car! You have been working hard on this grid!
short term all pension investments will be hit, but they will probably recover
it's the rampant nationalism, anti immigration and name calling I don't like
sorry fan, don't understand
wi** rhymes with fuzzy stuff in the dryer + p**ase help me get this word
plus all the lies
ah ty finally
rampant nationalism -- we've had a big dose of that here as well . . . ugh
I have been reading about Brexit and the effects on the UK, Europe, and the world. It is shocking.
We have a lot of that here too Glant
indeed
We are also in for a hard time, given the repercussions
bichon the *** pl of that word
one of our most reliable newspaper ran a story that Morgan Stanley were moving 2000 jobs out of UK, then an hour later the story had changed to Morgan stanley denies they are moving 2000 jobs out of UK
fan I don't understand your clue, sorry
Hello.
wondering how this will affect Canada.
We have over 900 Japanese companies here, Japan hasn't fully recovered from the tsunami and events, and our vote will affect the Japanese economy adversely
bichon ***endars is how the word starts out
don't have so much of the name calling here and whenever donald appears on screen I switch channels
The repercussions of the UK vote will be enormous and I think xenophobia is gaining mor and more traction.
cyber i said to my husband not long ago that ether way we are in trouble with whoever gets the presdency
fan, how does it end?
I agree, MLFAN. It is frightening for the US either way.
true, but I think he is the only candidate that would antagonize the rest of the world
bichon you answered your own question
Oh, Donald. He flew into Scotland this morning. e congratulated them on 'getting their country back'. Scotland voted to remain in Europe, by a pretty big margin. Idiot should have made sure he was briefed properly before he opened his big mouth.
scrab very
It existed before, but It's out in the open more and more certainly in the Us and France and parts of Europe with strong right-wing parties.
I agree Nan
I noticed that right away Glant.
when you finish a story the last two words are the *** but plural that word
If they're anti-Muslim now, we all know who's next>!
What a dumb blowhard.
ty fan
did you get it bichon?:)
The far right extremists are gaining more and more power everywhere, it is scary. Rather like it was 100 years ago.
good thing i don't vote as i don't want to be one of the idiots voters voting for either of the nominees. i mean i wouldn't mind a female president but not her
Time for me to get going. I am going to buy inexpensive, untaxed gas here at the Indian Reservation before I go home. A friend and I will hike for a few hours.
have fun scrab
Makes one wonder if any of the world leaders have heard about Nazi Germanhy
have a good day Scrabs
I vote for more compulsory classes in history and rational thought
i just wish we had a third choice
Can you imagine that TTrupff used the slogan "America first!" which was what pro-Hitler clubs in the US called themselves?
Mlfan, who will you vote for? Because at our last general election we felt that enither party was really up to the job, many people didn't vote, and we have had poor leadership for years on the basis if the wishes of about a third of the population....
giant i am not going to vote i don't like either of them
Don't not vote. Vote for least worst if you must. I rather like your Bernie.
Many Ftrench Jews are leaving the country now, in fear for their safety. There are military guards posted in front of synagogues and Jewish schools.
Not voting is not a good option.
That's awful Ruby
giant least worst? really?
the only good thing about the US system of government is that the president's powers are extremely limited --- no where near as much power as our PM's
Sad Ruby
true cyber
yes, least worst. Better than not voting
Fan, you can always write in someone.
people died so we could vote. Don't waste that.
my wife is in paris at the moment - she gets interrogated before entering the synagogue on saturday
Not voting leaves you out of the conversation.
I don't know if my Neighbors know I'm Jewish or if they care.
Harry, it's so upsetting.
I don't think hillary is a terrible option. it's just more of the same - not great, but not a disaster by any means
giant i understand, but i just am not going to vote neither is worth it
hego can i write in Bozo the Clown?
We are not seeing anti-Jewish feeling here. Anti-Muslim, anti-Polish, yes
anti polish?
I agree with Harry. At least she wouldn't antagonie the rest of the world and cozy up to Putin
harry not any better then Trump
Polish? Really?
is there a large polish immigrant population?
no idea
Once Poland joined the EU, many men came to work in britain, because our wages were so much higher. In the main, they did jobs British people didn't want - working in abbatoirs, picking crops by hand.
I think the French have always been anti-Semitic, but not very openly but the UK was always better
But, a lot are also in the bulding trade, and despite people here not liking that, I think they are harder working and better builders than the British ones!
10 years (or so) ago, when my husband and I visited Ireland, we noticed that hoteland restaurant workers were mostly either Polish or Frtench
Not believing the we words.
poles who came to the US 100 years ago made many of the highways and bridges
I think people here have forgotten how many Polish men came here in WW2 and flew and maintained our planes - we could not have managed without them
I don't understand Jews living in France. There's anti-Semitism here, but it's not a serious situation. More towards Muslims
hego why is that?
They are hard working people, and I enjoy shopping in their foodstores!

I guess there's a reason for war - to keep people thin.
I think one of the big differences between immigrantion in the late 1800s and immigration today, is that maybe (because there were so many people emigrating form so many countries in the 1800s) they integrated more quickly than immigrants have done here in the last 40 years
on that note, off the the supermarket.
bichon water's edge?
Now the immigrants come and take over an area, and the original poor working class feels dispossessed

how long were you married to him?
hi tc
No, he was a Harvard-educated Methodist from Illinois
About 7 years
i haven't heard but there is certainly a "disaster" / damage over a large aarea of the southern part of the state - major interstate was closed by a mudslide just north of the capital
Mr. Bich was born in Germany, his father anad grandfather both wore Nazi uniforms, but he knows more about Judaism that a whole lot of Jews.

wv i saw online that you are getting rain there today ?
perogies are a wedge shaped pasta shell about 1.5" long that are stuffed with mashed potato, and sometimes potato with cheese or onion added. You can fry them, but I prefer to boil them until tender then brown them lightly in a fry pan before serving. Toppings can be the same as for a baked potato.
my DH was also born in Germany and his father was held in a Polish prison camp for most of the war
Thanks Nan, I always assumed they were pastry

Hi Nan

It's kind of nice that the WOW political news is not about the US for once.
I meant ty for co8
I'm still watching the news about the referendum.
except that trump congratulated scotland on becoming independent when a large majority of scots voted to stay in the eu
I'm thinking he must like the taste of shoe leather!
That made me laugh nan. They want out and northern Ireland
I will never figure out why a country does not want to become independent.
mean they want to remain in Europe but want out of the U.K
yes - well quebec want's out of canada, but they can't afford it! -- same with scotland and northern ireland
The only other places which wanted to stop in was London and newcastle and a few around the country.
going to be a customs hassle for those of us that like to travel through London to get to the rest of europe
Exactly Nan.Scotland and Northern Ireland can't afford it without us, But Scotland wanted their Independence but without us they couldn't get into the EU but now they want to remain!
That won't be any different nan as you've got to go through customs to get across the water.
yes, but right now we don't have to go through customs to go from Britain to other countries in the eu --- no customs stops between any of the eu countries.
Yes you do
once we land in an eu country and go through customs that is it for the rest of our trip.
When you go from Britain to any country you have to go through customs
Aye, but that depends if you're stopping in the same country
we flew from canada to britain to italy --- went through customs when we entered Britain, but don't remember going through customs in Italy -- just a passport check.
no customs between italy and austria either
They'll have custom officers around, normally hidden behind dark windows(two way glass)and will know who is on each flight and who to look for
nor italy and greece
I guess when you have become dependent on another country to run yours for many, many years, it's hard to break free. It's like the 40 year old guy who still lives in Mom and Dad's basement.
The ferry ports will have a few customs people about so you can see them the rest are hidden and watching
we had to fill out a declaration form for Britain, but that was the only one.
Believe me, the customs people are there.I have a family member who is one.
I'm sure they are, Lilliann - my point was we didn't have to fill out a declaration form and go through customs other than on our entry to Britain. We did have to show our passport when we entered a new country, but I don't consider that as going through customs. When we go south, we have to stop and answer questions at customs on our way into the US and again when we come back to Canada. We are supposed to have a free trade agreement, but there are so many "exceptions" we might as well can it.
I think part of it is that everyone's luggage is pretty well screened before you board the plane.
I must admit, when we've been to Europe in the past, passport patrol was more than customs.I think maybe more now in Europe after the past vents of this year.
The problem with "breaking free", Molly, is not having become dependent on someone else to govern, but rather the very high cost of setting up a new infrastructure.
yes -- we saw a lot more people being asked to open luggage on this last trip than ever before.
That was probably because you came from Britain so they know you were screened but that doesn't mean owt.I think alot of European countries got lax
*at airport security, I mean
In fact alot of countries around the world got lax.
Yes Nan, very true. My country did it before they could become forever dependent on England. I'm sure it is easier to do when a country is new than after years of relying on another country for financial assistance.
When did you last travl nan and where?
I don't know whether it's a good or bad thing with the U.K now.we'll see
Last fall we spent time in London, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Austria and the Czech Republic
Wow! Did you do coach trips or just your own thing?
How long was your trip?
part was on our own and part was a coach/cruise - part of Italy and an Adriatic cruise.
We were gone for 5 weeks - 3 weeks of that was on our own.
I bet you had a great time.I've never been to Croatia,Austria or Czech Republic but i love Greece, saying that i've only been to Corfu but loads of times.
We've been comng to Europe about every 2 years for the last 16 years - have a cousin in Scotland.
That was alot of Countries in little time.If you come back to the Uk, you'll have to come to the North East
re8/50 pls? ty
yes we did -- it was our first time for a lot of the places. Greece was just a one day stop in Athens, but took a Greek taxi tour and had a marvellous guide.
Oh cool.
re8/50 is re use sharp needle things in sewing
re 8: attached again -- not sure if it was with the straight or safety variety
Sorry, i'm tired so my clues suck!!
ty nan
something is wrong. is there an 8/50 before that one? i think it us the second re words
Nan, where else have you been in the last 16 years?
oh yes there is: the king's representative + Mr. gore
*ruler for an incapacitated king or queen
Sorry for butting in, but I think the Brexit vote was a HUGE mistake by Britain. I think the campaign for a leave vote was based on scaremongering, I think Nigel Farange is a gob-shite & Boris Johnson is on record as saying he doesn't care about staying in the EU or exiting - he just wants to be PM. It's very scary stuff.
a clue pls for the first re8/50? ty
re8, r and spy but different vowel and ** gore
oh my goodness, most of Scotland, York, all along the channel coast, Alsace-Lorraine, Paris, the Loire, south of France and cote d'azur, up the east coast of France, Cinque Terra and Florence, Vienna, a river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest and a river cruise from Moscow to St.Petersburg

I'm not sure how any comment about what is going on with British politics keeps coming back to Trump.
it was the description of the politician, molly
I think alot of people in this country have had enough of Brussels telling us what we can and can't do and the amount of money that is payed to the EU
Lol, Nan! I think the right-minded percentage of the world's population agree on the Trump thing.
I'm not talking about politics or religion. It always causes arguments!
I didn't realize that Brussels had such control -- did all foreign trade agreements have to go through the EU governing body?
I don't think anyone is arguing here. Just expressing different opinions. That is how adults talk.
Nan, you've been to lots of places. My parentslive in the Loire.Did you like York?
I am certainly not a Trump supporter. I just didn't understand why a conversation about what is going on in England ended up with a Trump comment.
I confess to not being right up to speed on the whole Brexit thing. I'm basing my statements on people I spoke to on my recent visit to the UK. I was VERY alarmed by the vitriolic rascism I witnessed firsthand.
Loved York -- we were fortunate to have great weather the week we were there and as we had rented a car for the duration, we covered a lot of territory.
I didn't say anyone was Molly, i just don't like talking about politics or religion because some people get offended and i am an adult!
Same thing for the Loire - we stayed for 2 weeks in a gite on a farm just south of Amboise.
I find political conversations very interesting. And those who get offended are free to turn off the chat.
Technically - the chat about Brexit is no longer political. Its fact. Democracy!! I'm just concerned about the fall-out
There is a lot of disturbing political stuff going on in the world, in several countries. It's only natural that people would want to discuss it. Talking about things helps.
I still don't understand what immigration policy has to do with an economic union.
I didn't think anyone was forcing Britain to take x number of refugees.
Immigration is a huge issue in the US. We have an economy based on unemployed Americans who can't get jobs because employers are hiring illegals.
but as with the polish immigrants in europe, the mexicans are doing jobs no one else will do.
It's not refugees thats the problem, Nan. It's those who, under EU law, are entitled to come and live, work & claim benefits in the UK.
Does all this affect your kids working in England, Soodle?
..... Said the. A.
..... Said the. A.
oh, wow -- I didn't know the union agreement made those guarantees --- wouldn't like that either!
Said the Babbler whose 2 eldest are residing & working in the UK & youngest is working a Summer job in the US...
is it for anyone who wants to emmigrate to the UK or just those who are trained for jobs where there are employee shortages in the UK?
Molly - their Dad was a UK citizen. Therefore, they can claim UK citizenship (over my cold & lifeless body.... Lol).
Just those from Europe and then they can go home and still get their benefit from from UK
by benefits, do you mean company pensions or government pensions and medical as well?
Thanks for explaining Soodle. I am not up on the details of the governments of other countries. I have a hard enough time keeping up with what is going on in my own country.
The brexits want to be like Australia.as in want people that need for jobs and have money to come into the country
in an ideal world, lilliann ;)
sometimes it's hard to know when it is time to close the helping hand
Lil, did I hear correctly that people coming into the UK from other EU countries, such as Poland, have to live and work there a number of years before they're eligible for full benefits? I was listening to a discussion about it but didn't hear the whole thing.
No, they haven't payed into our system. It's basically benefits for people who don't have alot of money so they can claim all sorts of different ones and then they go home and build houses and get richer.there have been programmes showing this.
That was to Nan by the way.
We take in a lot of refugees on a per capita basis and they are entitled to our medicare benefits as soon as they are approved a landed immigrants - drain on the system to be sure, but most of those immigrants wind up contributing a lot to our economy in the long run. Most are very industrious and anxious to get settled and make a new home for themselves, and wind up paying back more than the initial resourses invested in them.
Like everywhere else, the media only reports the rotten apples.
True Nan
It's not like this is some new issue. People from countries with poor economies and bad job markets have been moving to more prosperous countries to take advantage for centuries.
Time for me to get the roast prepared for the oven. Its been a cool damp day, so a good time for a hot heavier meal.

I've seen gray older women with lavender hair in their gray
I'm one of 'em, jen, except I skipped the pastel part...
Well,, 60 looms. At some point in time I have to grow up, right? Maybe I can delay it until 70 :-)
Delay it until 100 :)
OK jes! I can roll with that :-)
I am actually thinking about a tattoo ... one honoring my late son. Something tasteful and not in your face.
so about a year ago I saw a fantastic rainbow wig and said that if I ever lost all my hair I'd pass on realistic wigs and wear stuff like that. Then I started wondering why I was waiting until something bad happened...
