yeah, i think the sonographer was trying to be a little more realistic, placing him in the 75th percentile + noting that he may just have had a little in-utero growth spurt that could even out... the doctor, however, put him up in the 90th percentile!

Hursh, I think some people get off on faking people out. I suspect there was a whole lot of "back chat" in email circles (among "Frank", "Nancy Boy" and others) about how badly they had fooled the Babble chat people. I think certain people here are embarrassed about that.

This is a (mostly) nice group of people who have fallen for some bad tricks played on them. Some about fake posters, some about fake financial needs. It happens in chat forums where most people are perhaps "too trusting".
well, i suppose people who sent money would be more upset. i felt hurt at the time, for being sad about the death of someone who turned out not to exist, but, it was the sort of thing that i could shrug off after a day

on another topic... the teacher i work with gives the kids points, in groups, for following directions well and stuff. if they get five points, they can get a prize on friday. well, one group had seven points today and a kid asked if they get to keep the two extra for next week. she said no, and that the extras are just good in case they do something awful and lose one, now they still have five and can get a prize. and i thought, if these kids were smart, they would realize you just gave them a free pass to act like jerks for the next hour.

OK, here is something we saw tonight at a restaurant. Young blondish well-groomed parents. 2 little kids, ages about 2 and 4. Now get this...
Each child had large ear covering headphones and a tablet. There was not one child sound the whole time they were in the restaurant
I lost a fiance about 6 years ago.
Every now and then the mom would pass a piece of tempura into the 3 year old's mouth. With no eye contact or words whatsoever.
That's just so sad but just as sad as a group of adults all sitting round a table in a restaurant, all looking at their phones.
Worse, because the kids didn't really have a choice.
