Hi all
HI there, lIz.
Hi Liz!
good morning all
Hi and hugs, Sprite
Have you had a good week?
*hugs Liz* It was a wonderful week. Very inspiring and fun.
how are you and your beloved?
We're fine - feeling sorry for Rose - rotten weather for the last week and forecast for next week too.
aw :(
Cloud, cloud and more cloud with some rain. Perhaps it'll be better towards the end of the week.
Really happy that your week was both inspiring and fun.
it always is. Good people, good environment, good program... can't ask for more!
:)
hello all
stiddie!!!!!!!!!!! *hugs*
Hi stid
((((spritely))))
how is life, stiddie?
good. Trying to get waaaaay ahead for the upcoming year. It's going to be an interesting ride. (got my class list already) I have about 7 weeks until I have squirmy kids in the seats!
you?
sounds good! I am fine, busy but happy
happy is definitely good
so true :)
watching "Lethal Weapon" with Grant and Tom at the moment....
always a pleasure. "I am too old for this shit..."
LOL
my favorite scene is the suicide one, early in the first movie. Brilliant.
*looks around for Liz* we are certainly an interesting group -- you are in Saturday, we are still Friday -- Liz is almost to Sunday...
odd, isn't it
We (babblers) are the new world empire, part of a world where the sun "never sets" LOL
I'm here - just a few more words to find. time zones are weird though not that close to Sunday yet but closer than you. Nearly 5 pm here.
Happy to be part of the babble empire but it would be good to see some sun ;)
yep, a lot closer than me! that dateline is pretty amazing. :-D
getting close to 9 am here. Yes, we are, a good new world order with a never setting sun and usually lots of peace, support and fun to be had.
I'm still amazed that when we flew to Vancouver, we arrived 3 hours before we left!
that would mess with my brain!
It was brilliant - meant we got an extra day with family.
Flying back not so good though!
The extra day would be nice....
Got to go. 8 left, which with this lovely grid shouldn't be too hard to find. Hugs to you both and keep fingers crossed (or whatever) that the weather brightens up for Rose.
*hugs Liz* have a grand evening and hug your beloved from me too
((((liz)))) good to see you.
I need coffee, will brb

any chance of a clue for the TE9/60 please
most of the word above te6-21.
Do you have te4-5? the next two stem from that.
Did that help jenny?
May I please have a clue for me6-21? Thanks
thanks, got it
You are welcome.
I think me6/21 means courage and there are 2 7s from the same word
Thanks, jenny. looking
Thanks for the me, jenny.
coo and g'day from me
Hi there, Rose.
*sigh* i am very tired... cooee
hey peach. how are you honey?
Doing OK so far. How are you?
have travelled nearly 700 miles since yesterday morning. starting to feel fatigued.
Wow. I bet you are> Get some rest please.
just another 300-400 miles to go and then i can rest in glorious sunshine either on the beach or sitting in a chair.
Are you driving or flying?
don is doing the driving. but the wear and tear of the body beautiful hurtling through space at over 70 mph is draining.
Glorious sunshine - you'll be lucky!
hey, what have you done to the weather ?? i sent you a truckload of sunshine from gundagai.
we saw the forecast for monday, that will do me fine....
It never reached here :( This weather is so wrong for mid winter. 40% chance of rain on Monday.
But warm
High of 24
i missed sprite tonight. i was waiting for this slow piece of machinery which laughingly calls itself a laptop, to load up and log in.
She had a wonderful week.
i was praying for that for her.
How's your journey going - apart from being tiring?
not too bad. don, of course, is a laugh a minute... i hope to catch some good quality zzzzz's tonight. last night too sore, and too excited to sleep properly.
the scenery is spectacular. jaw-dropping to be exact.
today i remembered to dose up at lunch time so have traveled much better.
Perhaps one day we might do a shorter version of that drive.
We've talked about a round driving trip to Sydney but flying is so much quicker.
it is quicker, but like i said the scenery is amazing. we have been driving through the high plains of the Great Dividing Range.
brb
We'd do a coastal route if we did it.
may catch you later peach.
well the coast between sydney and lakes entrance is to die for.
Well it's a very long time in the future if it happens.
it's called the sapphire coast. and that is what it is.
Friends did that drive when they were over from the UK. Said it was lovely.
Have a good evening,Rose. Safe travels. Hugs.
brb, checking for power point for CPAP
{{hugs}} dear liz. looking forward to talking in person tomorrow.
Hey, Rose, the grid says I need two more re's but I can't find them on Lickety's List. What do I do now? Th anks
NM, Rose, I just had not put them on the grid side. FW for me ...first time in a very long time. Have a wonderful time on your trip. Blessings
good morning friends
good morning
bon jour mon ami
hello!
so sorry about recent events, ruby....I don't even know what to say
Why is France so often a target?
I am hoping that there is no violence at the Republican convention next week
other than someone smashing a pie in trump's face, I agree
Bichon, here is Time Magazine's answer to your question: The roots of the problem are complex: France has a history of violence in its encounters with the Middle East and North Africa and a domestic Muslim community with long experiences of discrimination and feelings of exclusion from French society. France’s prisons have become a recruiting ground for extremists. And the French radical right is growing in influence, stoking tensions through rhetoric that is often anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim.
They say that most of the violence, muslim-related, occurs in French-speaking places. Maybe because of the colonial past of France and Belgium
wow. that is a good, concise answer
Molly, though tall, is always concise!! lol
As for Trump, this election is like a bad summer re-run of the last two. The Republicans will nominate someone so out there and over the top that The Democrats could get Bozo The Clown elected.
These events are making me sick and nervous. I don't feel safe any more, even in this backwater
Ruby, you can take some comfort in the fact that terrorist attacks usually take place in highly populated areas.
sorry - enable woe - "pitter" is not a word? that must be news to all the folks who sell cherry pitters. or love the pitter patter of little feet.
And it's extremely cold here for July, less than 50F this AM
I can certainly understand why you would feel that way, ruby!
The problem her is that it's a popular tourist destination, and there is a big, crowded festival the first Saturday of August.
oh gosh ruby. see, that', to me, is where the conundrum really gets going - if everyone stays home, due to fear, the terrorists take that as a win. if everyone attends, refusing to be cowed, they put themselves at a terrible risk.
exactly, Trif
There are security guards checking purses abd bags at the supermarket and the hospital and a Jewish school in a neighboring town has military guards in front
oh man....what a way to live.

thanks
I never understood why the Jewish population of France hasn't moved to Israel.
it's my understanding that many have left France in recent years
hello, all :-)
Ruby, you've been on my mind -- I certainly understand your anxiety at the moment!!
need to feed the pups and take them out to pee -- back in a bit :-)
Bichon, 1000's have left, but for me ther is no other place

outrafe is bad typering
Greetings, again!

Nice icon Judi. I don't think it goes with the Jerry Garcia mention though.
well.. Jerry Garcia Ballooned in weight?
hi again judi
Thanks, Molls. Didn't know we were observing GC. I don't pay much attention to icon theme days anymore.
Hubby's a Deadhead tho. I don't get it.
no theme days for quite some time judi
GC? I just looked at your icon and the text didn't match it.
<---has an original skeleton and Roses poster from the Avalon
my brother's are or were as well judi I never understood the fascination either
I'm not a Dead fan however
I see the Eiffel tower and France colored balloons with a Jerry Garcia mention.
I just updated my profile. No more peacock spider/Gerry Garcia.
I have never understood the Grateful Dead fascination either.
Thanks for calling that to my attention. I changed my pic to signify mourning for the folks in Nice.
Jerry would be grateful, even though he is dead.
jerry Garcia, judi. I see the ones with the balloons
(Judi is all current and tidy now)
It is a great message in a photograph. I like it.
Call my ears unsophisticated, but all the Grateful Dead song sound pretty much the same to me.
well at least judi is something don't know what I am lol
judi yes its called noise lol
lol, MLF. Shhh! My husband might be listening.
There is cult worship for a lot of bands I don't get. Rush, for example. While Neil Peart is a great drummer, Getty Lee is a terrible singer. Hence, I am not a Rush fan.
not that familiar with Rush so not a fan either
Rush and all the other "super groups" all sound the same as well.
Rush is a "super group"?
I believe they were considered a super group.
not sure about that
MLF do a Google search on Rush Tom Sawyer. I'm sure you have heard them if you listen to rock music.
I seem to remember them being right up there with Cheap Trick, Journey, etc.
I wouldn't know a rush song if it bit me in the ass
judi you might be right with that as I have seen them mentioned as such I know its the same kind of sound as the other bands you just mentioned
Tom Sawyer is one of those songs you turn off when it comes on the radio because it makes your ears bleed.
ruru I just googled them, I don't recognize any of the songs at all
Nice Nice icon, Judi
You're not missing much, Ru. I'm sure I-Tunes would be happy to give you a sample.
didn't they just go into the hall of fame too?
if that is the case molly I would rather listen to NightWish
I have an affection for Cheap Trick as that was a nickname a male friend gave me once. I like Journey because Steve Perry was a hot boy in his day.
I kinda like Cheap Trick
Hello, Ruby. Thank you. How are you?
I feel like I'm a dinosaur; my music experience ended in the 80's
I like Perry's voice and I think Neil Schon (sp?) is a pretty solid guitarist
The Flame by Cheap Trick is awesome
I'm sort of OK. Have you seen the news about Turkey? That is really scary!
I also remember the lead singers of all the super groups sounded more like women than men.
ruby some of the best music came from the 80s
judi that is true
I read about the short-lived coup attempt in Turkey. Reportedly over now... martial law and all.
Thank you, MLF
I hear the government stuffed the coup
yw ruby:D
That is usually how coups go. Squashed by overwhelming military might.
Oh man, some of the worst music ever came from the 80's.
What makes the situation scary is that we have used their now-closed airforce base for our airstrikes in ISIS and we have a lot of US personnel there
true.. but rap music is much worse
molly I grew up on it
i like very little rap music myself
That explains a lot MLF :P
it does?
Who was responsible for the coup attempt? I heard something about a faction of the military, but it was all kind of murky.
Ruby, I changed my flag icon to France in a gesture of solidarity. I'm sorry your country is going through so much strife.
The Military tried to gobble up some cities I think
ruby how far are you from any of what has happened recently?
Was my choice of décades wrong? Led Zep, Traffic, Chicago, X, Stevie Wonder, Beatles, Stones - don't know much about history
de 6/21?
Traffic?
That is sweet, Molly
Ruby, your choice of decades was just fine. Everyone you mentioned was good, good music.
Traffic was a good band
Beatles are before the rest of the artists you mentioned Ruby
er than Paris, but there are a lot of mountains between
beatles are from the 60's however
don't know Traffic at all that i know of
Phew; I thought I had messed up
ruby ah
Traffic had Dave Mason and Stevie Winwood
That's when I moved to Miami and was a salsa queen lol
I dare anyone to not get up and dance when Stevie Wonder's "Superstion" comes on.
ruru wasn't their a singer with the last name Windwood who went solo is that the same one?
yes
I love Stevie Wonder
High-heeled Boys....
molly i will have to dance on my feet in my head:)
me too ruru
Yes, Beatles started in the 60's, I just got carried away
the stones too
<-- dancing in the kitchen
you are allowed to do that ruby:)
Steve Windwood's best single was "Roll With It". That brought back line dancing from the 60's.
i'm creeped out by Mick Jagger getting a 29 year old pregnant
Ditto, Ru. Yeeeeeech.
I am sure that was creepy for the 29 year old too.
Withered willy....
Higher Love is a great song
Although, that will no doubt secure her spot in the childe support hall of fame.
There are women who will close their eyes and suffer to get impregnated by a wealthy rock star.
they are called groupies lol
I would think that when he'd orgasm dust would come out
Or "golddiggers"
*snort*
de 6/21?
Do any of you listen to Enya?
A layer of tooth enamel, MLF (I think).
Bill Withers is probably one of the least mentioned, but best musician of the 70's - 80's genre.
Yay for Bill Withers!
What Mick Jagger says when his wife asks, "can we do it again?" Sorry, Love. Bill Withers.
judt the layer underneath
for me Al Green is the King of the 70's with Aretha
dentin
Yep. That's it, Molly!
Sometimes it is easier to clue that way
yeah got that word
ty google
and judi
that's funny, I had that word as a guess but didn't know the meaning
these de words are starting to annoy me
I am missing the de5/18 word.
first de 5/12?
de when you are sad you ***
Ty.
yw judi
The en words are eeeeeluding me.
judi i have 5 of them
i mean all of them what are you looking for?
En7 and the 2 En8s.
the *** and pl
same first 3 letters for the 5 more so i think?
the *** what two words are on the last page of a story
does anyone have the first de 5/12?
It's a greek letter, MLF.
Well I will leave the cluing to other people. Hard to clue when someone says "just the layer underneath"? And then says "yeah, I got that word." Happy trails.
ty judi
i was just saying that is the actual definition of the word
i found the word by googling it
Fortunately, not a greek coin.
judi do you think that would be easier to google?
:)
Still stuck on the last 3 Ens. Going to A2Z now.
judi?
Okay. Gottem. Fireworks!
I'm outta here, kids! See y'all tomorrow! *POOF*
FIREWORKS POOF
mmm :( 45 left and I am already reduced to blindly ramming randon letters together and hoping for a babblet or a miracle. rest will have to wait till after work I am afraid. Take care all, and happy Babbling!

afternoon folks
hi Jess
hey jes :-)
how's your saturday treating you?
i be tired -- drove a rescue transport this morning . . . then every time I take the dogs out to potty I'm stepping into the steamy tropics!! LOL
and you?
between emergency call and shoulder pain preventing finding a good position, I got less than 5 hours sleep last night.. then worked 10 hours today. so also tired :)
hope you get some rest tonight :-)
me too! I hope your tropics get less steamy :)
I understand about finding a good position -- 2 days ago I stepped up on a tall stool to change a lightbulb, fell backwards, hit my head on the side of the bathtub, and had to have 5 staples to close the cut
what a klutz!!
oh no! head trauma is not good for you
that sounds like you're lucky it wasn't a lot worse, but still bad enough to suck lots
was just really mad at myself!!
yikes une.
but I'm ok -- it's just a bit itchy-scratchy :-)
My mother's ancestral home was Spring Hill Tn. Every time we went back to visit it was like a sauna
and you'll never do it again, right?!
that's my job to keep you in stitches une.. not the other way around
jes, I got back up on the stool and replaced the bulb before going to the ER LOL!!
I fell backwards vacuuming once and had the head staple experience myself. I gave up vacumming :-)
LOLOLOL!!
clearly you hit your head hard enough to knock the sense out. :P
ahahah. good reason to quit, origami :)
the sense went away LONG ago :-)
Now I don't have an inch of carpet in my house :-)
:-)
frankengami
My family's home is where they built the Saturn plant Une.
i misread that as planet and was really confused
Young frankengami please :-)
you mean literally? they took it down to build the plant?
jes LOL
Yep.
wow!
so we have you to blame for saturns then ori?
I will bear the Saturn blame. But not the Southern plantation, slave-owning blame :-)
My mother's family were more or less lumber barons
well, i'd hope you're not that old, origami
Exactly jes :-)
hmmm, yes, Spring Hill has a couple of plantation homes :-)
One time we went back to TN we went to the Saturn factory and got some strange VIP tour. I was young and didn't understand.
the locals were very happy to welcome Saturn -- boosted the economy in the area . . .
Wasn't Saturn an employee-owned company?
need to go -- BBL :-)
bye une
bye, une. no more head injuries! and no heat stroke!
Dinner calls ... back later
bye ori, enjoy the feast :)
it's a weird grid where I have more 8's and 9's than 7's

Hi folks--I'm rarely on chat log but I am a regular silent player
I am unusually close to finishing! Only 12 left! Could I bother you for clues?
me too beth .. welcome :)
what clue zabeth ?
congrats, deanoz!
I could start with the ems...all of them... I hear they are turtles?
I just got the ems.
