btw, i actually put two loads of washing through before i went out today. have had my hair cut. my poor young hairdresser has ne5 seen anything like it. i looked like a puff ball, and it iks only 8 weeks since i was last there.

I can rent a wheelchair here for only 2 euro a day, rose, so don't hesitate if it would make your stay easier. We can throw it in the car and ta4 it out if needed.
Rose, you might want to look at Airbnb for accommodation. I spent 10 days in a self contained apartment in Sicily for £300, much cheaper than hotels or bed and breakfast, and all the privacy you want.

I am off to another apartment in Barcelona for 6 nights in November for £250.
If you make it anywhere near south Wales it would be lovely to meet up.

glant, we have plans to drive all over the UK. i have ancestors from the scottiksh highlands, DH has ancestors on the isle of harris and in edinburgh. both of us are longing to see Wales.
There are always lots of pictures of each apartment, a range of prices, and varied facilities. And you can become an Airbnb host if you like - I have about a dozen people come and stay in my home every year, always interesting and a little pin money on the side too.
Well, you will find Welsh roads 'interesting' - other than the expressway which runs east-west across the north Wales coast, and the motorway which runs east-west across the south, most of our roads are single lane and twisty. And hilly LOL.
Edinburgh is lovely, but not a place to drive in if you can avoid it. If you have to drive in, avoid the rush hour, it is hideous.
Staying in 'old town' is nice, it is within walking distance of the centre and train and coach station, and has character.
it will be great, rose, you can get so much inside info even before you go... should be a terrific vacation.

If you are in a wheelchair and need to use public transport in the UK, all buses have wheelchair spaces, and rise and fall to meet the pavement. Inter city coaches are not wheelchair friend;ly at all.
and Don and Rob are gonna visit the Biesbos while we are gonna indulge in a bungalow with sauna, swimmingpool and dvd player.

There is an 'assist' service on the railways - free of charge, but must be organised in advance - staff are at each station where you start/change train/end your journey. They get you onto the traina nd intop your seat. They get you from one train to the other where you change, and they help you off the train and take you to the station exit at the end of your journey.
so.. today is thursday, right? how are you feeling now about your nail appointments?

Plus some cities have car parks with 'motability' services, where you can hire a sit on scooter with shopping basket as part of your parking packaghe. If you use one of thise at least you don't get bumped into or crowded while you are in a busy city.

if you have a disability sticker I think it would be accepted, but I can check. People with 'blue badges' can pretty much park anywhere as long as they are not causing an obstruction.

The varifocals are very good. My first varifocals were awful, but only because I let the optician talk my into glasses with plastic frames, and they kept slidingh down my nose, so were never in focus.
