good morning all
good morning Sprite
good evening flosey! Haven't seen you in days. Have you been well?
yes thanks Sprite - I must have gone to bed earlier - usually try to get there not much later than 11:
{{hugs}} and good morning dear sprite. xoxox flosey dear
I try to do the same. Am often in bed even earlier than that.
it's 12:17 here at the moment
*hugs rose* Hello my dearest friend. How did your day go? And how are you?
hi there Rose, haven't seen you lately either
day was successful. it was the community open house at our church today. cream of asparagus soup, and some very delish sandwiches made by the vicar's hubby. kerry baked up a storm, made some yummy scones and we had citrus cake, fresh fruit salad and icecream for afters. lots of laughter too
wow, sounds like my kind of shindig :D Glad it went well.
sounds delicious Rose, especially the soup
flosey haven't been here much either. i log in to chat to sprite, then when she has gone, fall into bed.
*hugs rose extra*
about ready to do just that very soon Rose
flosey, thank-you. i make all the soups from scratch. it's been quite a learning curve... for everyone... lol
one of my fav. vegies
I love making soup from scratch.
thanx sprite. i needed that. btw i was so cold early this morning, that apparently i moved right over to don's side of the bed and snugged up to him.
awwww so sweet. I bet he didn't mind
he didn't even wake up. *pouty mouth*
evil!
excuse me flosey, just close your eyes please. *whispers to sprite* maybe i should have woken up roger.
*giggles* yeah, put that pouty mouth to good use.
I peeked!! but who is roger?
oh my goodness.... ahem.... an aroused bit....
roger is related to willy
last name is johnson, I think
*explosive laughter here*
hahahaha, ok - and yes indeed
that would waken the whole household, I presume
nice size grid today
hehehe yes it would, I guess
at least Roger's
:D
*giggles* no-one el4 to wake up... just the two of us. hey, what a great name for a song!!
we can make it if we try-y just the two of us... you and I
where's kiwi when I need her??? Where's my singalong lady?
ah, found the roger words in the grid too
of course you did sprite. they were among my first... loll.... and what do you mean i have a one-track mind?
you are excuses, rose. Who wouldn't be on that track when their morning was so full of rejection?
you are excused*
some days, I can even spell
did you girls fall asleep on the keyboard?
giggle, am almost about to Sprite
sorry honey. had to dash. xoxox
just went to the kitchen for a minute
:D good to see you both!
always good to see you Sprite
some nights I'm not up late enough
what flosey said...XOXOXOXOXOX
:) sleep is important!
what a lovely thing to say, thank you both
what are your plans for today, sprite?
one tough phonecall to make, groceries to get, dinner to cook. Already walked terra and emptied the dishwasher.
just think i am there holding your hand when you make the call, sweetie. before you pick up the handset, sit qu7 and picture me there.
will do. That will help. Thanks honey.
ah, another roger word
tomorrow is a sleep in day. and i am going to bed early tonight.
oh how lovely, rose. I wish you a very peaceful night, with just the right temperature, and a willing roger in the morning.
in the charity shops, i found the trilogy of divergent. don sat up til 1:30am reading.
hehehe good man
it's a little difficult to sleep properly with a lamp on.
that is true. He should read in the livingroom, not in bed if you want to sleep
i think i will have to stop watching the news. there is too much tragedy happening.
I never watch the news. Brings me down within seconds.
you have the right idea honey.
I had to. Best decision ever, to stop focusing on all the bad stuff in the world.
fireflies
last word: se6/24. That was a new one for me.
WTG SPRITE !!!
wtg Sprite - you really boogie along - even while chatting!
she does, doesn't she flosey?
I love chatting with you girls. *hugs* and thanks for the company. I wish you a very peaceful night and a lovely day.

Hi, Rose. Going into hospital today for a cancer op. Hope that hand is still there.
((Jaxx)) I will be thinking of you and sending healing vibes your way.
Good luck jaxx7
Good morning!!
Is Jaxx still here?
Is anybody here?
just got here! How are you today Ruby?
Hello?
Hi rubyfoo
hello
I've been in and out all morning
I am usually on this time of day but don't say much.
How cold is it today?
I don't blame you. When I come into the room, first thng in the morning, I just play and "listen"
But it isn't long until everyone feels like family.
It was cold this AM, but the sun has come out and I'm in fron of the fire
We are still in the 80's during the day, thank goodness. About as cold as it gets is 25 in February. I love Georgia!
When it warms up a little bit, I'll go outside and gtther pine cones for the fire and feed the fish in the pond
What type of fish do you have in the pond?
What type of fish do you have in the pond?
It's about 50F at night (als in my bedroom) but warms up to 60-70 if the sun coe out
We started with 23 "feeders" (what they were called in Florida), just ord inary red and gld tinies, but now there are 100's, some over a foot long
And eggs must have come in with the aquatic plantts, because now there are black ones plus alll possible combinations
Must be fun to watch them. I live on 9 acres of land out in the middle of nowhere. I love watching the deer in the backyard. Our agreement is that the ladies cannot be hunted but the boys are fair game.
I ttried t sell some back to the store, but they weren't interested
You can give them as gifts at Christmas!
I'm in a small village (not pictureque) at the foothills of the Alps and have a beautiful view and about an acre
esque*
hahah
or eat them, if thngs get tough
I came from a small picturesque village in Vermont. I would rather live out here in the middle of nowhere.
Bet they would be terrible bony.
Thee are deer, wild boar foxes and mountain goats in the cliffs aabove the house, but no suirrels or rabbits, and the only wildlife I see are my dogs
The pond was my husband's hobby, but noww that he's gone, I feed them and somebody comes occasionally to muck it out
(sorry for the typos, but this keyboard is too quick for me!)
The squirrels have pretty much moved out for the season. They grabbed the pecans and ran. We have had a rattlesnake (quickly deceased), a big black snake (died of lead poisoning) and a small rat snake (ventured into the house and met its demise) but no foxes or mountain goats. There are wild boar in the area but we haven't had them in our yard. We did have a coyote but I only saw him once.
I always thought I would want a pond but learned how much work they really are. A great hobby though.
I think the French have eaten all the squirrels and rabbits
I don't do the work and it forces me to get out of the house, at least a little
Do you grow vegetables and/or fruit?
Our soil is so sandy that things don't grow well. We do grow tomatoes and jalapenos. I have an elderly male friend that has blueberries, pears, figs and grapes. I can't handle processing any more fruit than that!
I planted a lot of fruit rees and shrubs when we came here and had a vegetabe garden, but now I only make red currant Jelly but pay somebody to pick them and eat th figs if they ripen (not every year)
I gave up on vegetables except for tomatoes and whatever is left on the trees is for the birdds.
You must love your climate after VT!
I made a lot of jelly this year. I plan to sell it at the Christmas parade/gala, deduct my expenses and give the balance to our cancer group. They pay for fuel, food and lodging for residents in our county that are being treated for cancer. They can't take the whole load but they lighten it. This past year, they raised $100K, gave 40K to the cancer victims and 60K to cancer research at different Georgia universities and research centers.
What a good cause! Nothing like that exists here
I had to leave Vermont because of the cold weather. I have asthma and could not breathe. I have been here for 4 1/2 years and have not used anywhere near as much medicine to control my asthma as I had to use in Vermont and there I was always in crisis.
I had no allegries before, but developed several serious food allergies after moving here and I wasn't young
From what I understand, Evans County C.A.R.E.S. is very unique. There are other C.A.R.E.S. groups in Georgia but this one is very active. I went to their last dinner where they distributed the funds and the appreciation from the universities and research centers. One of the universities, which has a hospital, was able to tell what they had purchased with the money they received last year and the story of the man it saved. He proceeded to explain what they planned to buy this year. He said their belief is that this money is meant to purchase equipment that they could not otherwise afford rather than be used to offset their current budget. I have to agree.
That sounds senssible and smart! Attitudes about health care are different here because of the vast gov't safety net (of which I'm not a part, sadly)
I have had asthma my whole life. It didn't act up for years and then WHAM it came back with a vengeance. We had been to Georgia several times and I realized that I was not using as much medication when I came to visit here. It was worth a try. I am positive I only had a couple of years left at the rate I was going.
My sister, who is asthmatic, lives in NY, but doesn't take good care of herself.
I hear so many people complain about Obamacare in the States. I am so thankful for it. Otherwise, I would not have insurance at all. This state does not assist unless you are pregnant, a child or disabled. I am not old enough for Medicare, I could have taken disability but do not feel I am disabled. I can work and do work.
I have no coverage but my recurrent cancer is treatable so, for now, I'm OK.
Aside from that, I've never been sick with anything else, but perhaps why I've survived this long
It is hard to take good care of yourself when you have asthma unless you can figure out your triggers. It took me many years. I actually joined the Vermont Lung Center and did studies with them trying to find relief. Encourage your sister to seek out asthma research. You get a lot of one on one and testing. Test meds are free.
She's even older than I am and won't change her ways at this point. Shee's as stubborn as my chows!
I am sorry to hear that you have no coverage. I am glad that you have been able to treat your cancer and pray it continues to be treatable.
It was a big surprise when it came back after 25 tears but, fortunately, it is a very common type
We all get more stubborn as we get older. I have an older sister that was in an abusive home situation with two of her adult sons (both pushing 40). She whined and whined about it. I was preparing to move her back to Massachusetts to a son's house that begged her to come there but she refused. After listening to another year of whining, I finally told her she had two choices: either accept it as her lot in life or do something about it but to quit yammering. She moved to Massachusetts the next month and is happier than she has been in 15 years.
That's a good story.
My dad had Hodkin's lymphoma in 1947, it was treated and went away. It returned in 1987 with a vengeance. We didn't catch it until it was too late.
But 40 years, in thos days, was a long remission!
Super long. He had been given 6 months in 1947. He lived every day like it was his last. All spare time was family time. If we didn't all do it, no one did it. My parents never fought (that we were aware of) and never spoke ill of each other. I think about how lucky I was to grow up in that house. We didn't have money but there was no doubt we had love.
I think that background made you the strong woman you are now (from the little bit I knoow of you)
Thank you for the kind words. And now my friend, I must get ready for work. I have enjoyed talking with you. Have a great day.
I love this grid but can't find a y or the second column o
I'll look forward to another chat!

I live in an apt and I clean when I have company which is not often.
It used to take me a day to clean. Now it takes about a week. I just can't do it as quickly as before. Plus, I hate doing it.
ditto to Habes
Well, then, we're all in this together.
I hate doing it too. wish I could afford a maid or housekeeper.
when I do clean I do a little at a time.
I hate doing laundry too but I do that every week.
it is however more fun to either work together on something like this or to clean someone 's home that is not your own home.
ture
true even
I can't believe there are people who really like to clean
that is my dream of all dreams...to have someone to clean my home bi-monthly!
that would be lovely wouldn't it. that and a place at the beach
at least 3 to 4 weeks at the beach!
I love the beach and I collect shells
do you make things with them, peri?
not yet. not sure I have enough. but I did get some at a church flea market recently. a small carton filled with all kinds of shells for $2 there were lots that I did not have. I was so excited!
I am going to try to make a wreath when I get enough shells. I belong to several sites on FB and the people there make some amazing things
bbl
ooooh....one of my friends glued hers to an oval mirror as a frame. Simply gorgeous!
hello...
hi Pen
hi lynx...
I recently redecorated my bathroom with what I rather grandly called A Nautical Theme. Lots of shells, beach-huts, lighthouses, ships in bottles etc. The offspring rather disparagingly call it 'Mam's Boaty Bathroom'. Philistines..
i have a shell wreath in my bathroom that my godmother/aunt made many years ago....
hi lyn
what do kids know!
hi Owl
eww - that's bizarre Owl
i take it you did not see the new tim burton movie?
Hi Aeb, Pen, Lynn, TO, et al :-)

No - but on my list. Good?
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children?
Yes - do you recommend

i read the book, but the previews seemed quite different than the book...
but eyeballs figure prominently
oh OK - off list then
well, you may like it.
Was never a Tim Burton fan.
i am but this one was not very good imo
Just found my last Ys...and far from sounding like something disgusting you cough up, it is apparently what everything all started from. Who knew! Although whoever named it was making a joke I think

I am doing laundry as I babble, it is 7 pm here and I prefer to do laundry in the am but my landlady is kind enough to let me use her washer and drier so I have to do it when she says it is available. and I am very grateful.
no lil monkey de and what models do
OK got it
I am going to be 80s Madonna for Halloween.
:)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
first me7 psl
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
OMG noooooooooooooooooooooooooo
what is the matter lil monkey
I just saw a commercial on TV for Christmas stuff
I can't!
ARGGGGGGGHHHH is right. it is not even Halloween
they have had xmass stuff in the dollar stores for a while now
Yes I've seen it... but seeing the commercial on TV and hearing the music sent me into paroxysms of horror
I would have reacted the same way. have not seen any xmass stuff on tv as yet. don't watch too much tv
not looking forward to all the ads and the xmass music in the stores
my neighbors put up decorations too early and keep them up way too long
I just want the election TV ads to be over so I can have some peace.
and that too and all the junk mail and phone calls
I just want to be alone on a desert island. Is that so wrong.
I would love to be on a beach anywhere
with at least one cabana boy to wait on me
I can be on a beach here.
lucky you
Are you in PA ?
yes, suburb of Phila. it is 2 hours to a jersey beach
shorter if I take the atlantic city expressway but they drive too fast on that
Ah , at least you are close! My dad is from OC NJ, so I know that area well.
well I only go for the day and I spend more time in my car than on the beach. wish I knew someone with a place at the jersey shore or any shore for that matter.
Let's keep in touch! I am planning to bring my mom to the Jersey shore next summer. I was going to bring her this past summer, but she fell & broke her hip.
oh yes pls.
So we'd come for a week, probably.
we can exchange emails.
yes, my email is lauriedjones@yahoo

hi liz
Hi Lyn - is it warming up down there?
not so much..I have the heater on at the moment though they say it will be low 20s this arvo. Blue skies but chilly winds
OK thanks peri
It finally rained here last night. 2 heavy showers. The ground really needed it.
You'll have read about our floods...a little too much water - and now a mosquito plague
That's awful - hope you weren't affected too badly. Mosquitos are vicious! Well they are to me - seem to love my English blood. My hubby rarely gets bitten. I'm his best protection.
1st ve6 pls
Evening prayers, peri
