First weekend in November Liz. Ru, I was a fortune teller.

12:56 am

So next weekend. I'll try to remember to email Lickety.

12:56 am

Sounds like fun, Molly.

Remember Dr God keeps the lights on though :)

1:08 am

He'll be famous!!

4:23 am

4:23 am

4:29 am

monkeys aren't Jewish

4:31 am

4:39 am

translirations are impossible!

4:40 am

4:40 am

rose, my darling friend, I hope your dinner is resting easily in your poor tummy. Sleep well tonight. *hugs*

4:40 am

Good morning.

I should have looked at the time..sukee is probably gone by now

6:53 am

Happy Halloween Eve to you Annie. : D

6:54 am

and the same to you, Molly

7:05 am

I remember when Halloween was a holiday for children

7:09 am

My neighbor, who's single, asked us to take pictures of her and her friends. They were all dressed as vampiresses and going to a party.

7:26 am

I don't mind adult "children" celebrating the holiday, but the sexy costumes get old after a while.

7:39 am

Not for me 😀

7:42 am

Well yes, men have a tendency to lean in that direction. : P

7:43 am

That french maid costume gets me everytime. 😄

7:44 am

*Imagines Ru would be in Heaven at Hooters on Halloween*

7:45 am

Hooters kind of creeps me out

7:46 am

I'm pretty sure you are the first guy I have ever heard that from

7:46 am

At least the concept of it

7:47 am

The concept of Hooters is as old as bar wenches.

7:50 am

The owner of the raiders goes to hooters all the time. Ewwww

7:52 am

I better go back to sleep for a bit

7:53 am

The definition of in6/27 is pretty

10:41 am

ty Molly!

10:41 am

Lots of definitions to be found if you do a Google search on the word. The dictionary this game uses is incomplete (and that is being nice)

10:43 am

ty dose, had to go to Google translate

10:43 am

good morning, everyone

11:00 am

I thought in6 was rabbit sex

11:00 am

How do you tailgate at a football game in London? Tea and crumpets? Pints of ale and bangers and mash?

11:03 am

is there a game in England today?

11:05 am

Redskins/Cincinnati...started at 9:30 EST. We almost missed it. I thought it was a night game.

11:06 am

oh.. weird.. they're doing more games in England now than just one?

11:07 am

... they really want to expand or at least expand the television market ... if they could revive NFL Europe they would

11:08 am

Obviously, I have no clue. I think Sunday morning football is a bad idea for a lot of reasons. Mainly that people will start drinking a LOT earlier than usual.

11:11 am

any excuse for some I guess

11:12 am

Well, it is a great excuse for wealthy football fans to travel. Other than that, I find a lot of flaws in it. A lot of people are in church on Sunday morning.

11:12 am

... think of the poor people in Hawaii ... they already have to start watching at 6am... put a team in London and they'd have to start at 1am... how would they get any work done on Mondays?

11:12 am

watching football isn't church?

11:13 am

Well Ru, it is for some. For me, church is a walk through the woods. But as is constantly said here, to each their own.

11:13 am

... Supreme Court said so ... some guys tried to get a tax break for THE CHURCH OF MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ... they were denied ...

11:14 am

Oh those stodgy Supreme Court justices.

11:14 am

... 1970s ... was a different time

11:16 am

I only go to church for weddings and funerals

11:17 am

I don't really observe Judaism, but I am totally Jewish

11:17 am

I wonder if they had to talk like Howard Cosell to the Judge

11:18 am

Even Jesus said that "church" is wherever you find God/The Great Spirit/whatever you call him/her/it

11:19 am

... yeah ... but they just wanted to get the state to pay for their beer and 54 inch television screens ...

11:19 am

like Scientology is a church .... right?

11:21 am

well.. if they would have pulled it off .. it wouldn't be much different than many corporate scams dose :D

11:21 am

in the nineties we had something called the Church of the Subgenius

11:21 am

JR "bob" Dobbs was the prophet

11:22 am

My son and I want to form a new political party and call it "The Slumber Party"

11:23 am

... but you'll never get elected ... while you'll poll high ... the voters will never turn out to vote because they're asleep

11:23 am

that's ok - imagine how peaceful the debates will be

11:23 am

now i'm craving crumpets and creamery butter molly

11:24 am

... likely make more sense than the last three

11:24 am

faculty meeting in 5 minutes. on a sunday! gotta run

11:26 am

11:26 am

Greetings all. A type of wool, Bichon.

11:27 am

ty Judi, dose

11:27 am

I like The Slumber Party too. Sign me up.

11:28 am

make sure you smash your hard drives before you go to sleep

11:29 am

if you cross a sheep with a retired Miami Dolphins quarterback you have it

11:29 am

smash the hard drives?

11:29 am

yeah -- you wouldn't want the FB I

11:30 am

to seie them and spread inuendo about the contents to the rest of the world

11:31 am

I'm not following you Nan.. but I guess it's a facebook thing

11:32 am

no - I'm referring to yesterday's and today's headlines --- the invasion of privacy is intolerable and even more sickening is that some people are condoning it -- all in an effort to sway an election as far as I can see

11:33 am

hi all. help with top lone E pls

11:33 am

glorious day here. I have all my windows open

11:33 am

There is nothing private about Facebook, or anything posted on the internet

11:33 am

... process for cleaning out the bowels

11:34 am

molly that is not what I'm talking about

11:34 am

Sorry, I guess I wasn't following either.

11:36 am

... NSA looks at all e-mails sent in North America ... they can do it without a warrant because they're looking at all e-mails not targeting any one individual

11:37 am

enema

11:37 am

oopsie

11:37 am

lol. Thanks, Peri!

11:38 am

... two thirds at last ... and I'm completely stuck in the mud ... back for a list later ... ... luck to all

11:38 am

mo7 pls

11:38 am

I am referring to the fact that the FBI director sent a letter to congress announcig that they are looking at more "thousands" of emails from the server Hillary was using without even knowing if any of the emails originated from Hillary or if there was anythig in them that was classified info ---- just a bunch of inuendo designed to sway the election --- just who in the FBI does trump have in his pocket?

11:39 am

sorry peri, don't have it

11:39 am

ok

11:40 am

Reminder, Nan. The e-mail scandle pre-dates this election cycle.

11:41 am

the FBI doesn't even have a warrant to read the email currently in question --- the whole thing stinks like rotting fish

11:43 am

The scandal lies on the hackers backs.

11:45 am

Again, nothing that goes on the internet, including email is "private". I'm amazed that people send emails that could incriminate them later on. Or that they are unaware that the internet is not private.

11:46 am

agree molly -- there will always be someone who can hack into new security measures and I don't think cell phones are any less vulnerable

11:46 am

The FBI subpoenaed all the e-mails. It has been firmly established that the Hilary camp did not turn over ALL the e-mails requested and IN FACT destroyed a great many e-mails. That certainly suggests there's incriminating information that Hilary didn't want divulged.

11:48 am

I don't how that translates, Judi --- maybe private info, but criminal? That is a pretty big assumption. Would you want the world to have access to all of your private conversations and transactions?

11:49 am

The FBI is OBLIGATED to investigate crimes or criminal activity involving government officials - regardless of where the allegation of the crime comes from.

11:50 am

I would not want "the world" to have access to my private conversations and financial transactions. The FBI, however, can look all they want. I feel sorry for the poor schlubs who have to sift through all that boring information.

11:50 am

but they are not supposed to release details of an investigation before it has even begun!

11:50 am

When you are a public figure, in government and running for President, there is no such thing as "private conversations and transactions".

11:51 am

I think the whole thing in this latesst release is an attempt on the part of some died in the wool republican to smear hillary

11:52 am

Hilary's e-mail scandal was investigated, deemed not worthy of prosecution (yeah, right), then the investigation was closed. As of this past week, the investigation was re-opened because more information (i.e. e-mails) surfaced.

11:53 am

I'm still in deep denial, dreaming that no one shows up at the polls to vote for either one of the slimy candidates we have running for President.

11:53 am

I voted last week.

11:54 am

I think it's our obligation as voters not to ignore corruption and organized crime in our own government.

11:55 am

Anyway --- enough political banter. Always a dangerous venture.

11:55 am

Personally, I won't carry around a vote for either one of those people on my conscience.

11:55 am

But you want to elect a man known for tax evasion, denegration of women, using sweatshop materials in his businesses?

11:56 am

women's rights are already on the downhill.

11:56 am

why aren't his emails being investigated?

11:58 am

I think Putin is using this election to weaken the power of the western world and Trump appears to be encouraging him.

12:00 pm

And Hillary takes money from countries that treat women as property and impose Sharia law. Seems to me she is willfully blinded by her own greed.

12:00 pm

and what is China - the source of some of Trump's donations?

12:00 pm

Thank you Judi. So many people ignore that fact about Clinton.

12:01 pm

Congress is run by the special interests. Where are the checks and balances?

12:02 pm

there aren't any -- isn't that a scary thought!

12:04 pm

Trump is by no means perfect. However, he pays his taxes, has a strong history of creating jobs (for men and women) and pledges to secure our borders.

12:04 pm

um judi.. he doesn't pay his taxes

12:05 pm

he is still working off a 972 Million dollar write off

12:05 pm

He admittedly uses our existing tax laws to pay a little tax as possible. Who among us doesn't do the same? I for one, prefer to keep more $$ in my pocket as opposed to writing a fat check to Uncle Sam every year.

12:06 pm

he hasn't released his tax returns which tells me he doesn't pay anywhere near what he should, he farms out jobs to foreign countries notorious for their sweatshops, and building a wall is a joke ---- post tortoise

12:06 pm

Also, by his own admission, he gets audited every year. So, clearly, the IRS is looking at his tax returns.

12:08 pm

so he uses previous backruptcies to write off current profits and gets away with it

12:08 pm

What's disgusting is how he cheats the "little guy", not paying them, causing extreme hardship because he didn't like the quality of their work. That is wrong on so many levels.

12:09 pm

why a contractor would ever take his job I have no clue

12:09 pm

And mocking people with disabilities? That shows some moral character.

12:10 pm

well Judi.. if Trump wins.. it wouldn't be the first time he's pushed a black family out of their home

12:10 pm

LOL, Ru! Term limits... they have to leave.

12:11 pm

time to give up ru ;-)

12:11 pm

We could ride this merry-go-round all day, but I have laundry to do. See you crazy kids later! *POOF*

12:12 pm

I agree on that one mubner.. that dissing of the handicapped person was a new low in American politics

12:12 pm

i have to get ready.. taking my dog to the vet today. have a great day everyone

12:13 pm

It's embarrassing - and disgusting. Add that to the dissing of the women and his inability to speak in complete sentences should alarm everyone.

12:13 pm

ok, off my soap box

12:13 pm

(agrees again mubner)

12:13 pm

his tape with Billy Bush is enough to make me never consider him.. what a cretin

12:14 pm

I grew up around men like that, (stepfather) and then later in the work place. Ugh

12:15 pm

I can't understand why anyone, especially a woman, would support him

12:15 pm

Hillary has her flaws, but they pale in comparison

12:16 pm

i have to think that only the bible belt women will vote for him.. or staunch republicans

12:16 pm

Hilary is flawed.. but at least she's sane

12:17 pm

<---can't wait for this election to be over

12:17 pm

I think he sees himself as the CEO of the country, calling all the shots - that is terrifying

12:17 pm

I don't support him. Or her. Which is why I will not vote for either of them. And until Americans stop settling for the lesser of the two morons offered up, we will be in trouble.

12:19 pm

Molly -- the right to vote is the most important privilege you will ever have --- please don't abandon it - that is more frightening than anything else - do you really want to give up your right to have a voice in your government?

12:19 pm

off i go.. later all

12:20 pm

My right to vote is my right to express my support of a candidate. If I find neither candidate acceptable, I exercise my right not to vote.

12:21 pm

You might as well go live in Russia or China then

12:21 pm

Agree Nan

12:21 pm

As I said before, I will not have my vote in support of Trump or Clinton on my conscience. Just as I chose not to have a vote for Obama either time on my conscience.

12:22 pm

And no Nan, I don't need to go live in Russia or China.

12:22 pm

I guess if you want to submit to an autocracy or dictatorship that is your right

12:23 pm

So write in a name. At least you will be registering you protest.

12:23 pm

im 5 please?

12:23 pm

there is a third party, or a write in. There are other races to vote in and sometimes other things on the ballot for local issues. They are important too.

12:24 pm

like am 5

12:24 pm

same as the AM5 nan

12:24 pm

I didn't say I was not voting in other races. Just not for either Presidential candidate. A write in vote? Maybe. But not voting for either also registers a protest.

12:25 pm

But you're not voting against the candidates that you don't care for.

12:26 pm

ty hego and mtl

12:26 pm

yw

12:27 pm

yvw nan

12:27 pm

That is a good point Hego. I guess I can vote for some alias Independent candidate that I don't care for either. But that is not my choice. My choice is to vote for a Presidential candidate that I endorse or not vote for President at all. And that is, my choice.

12:27 pm

12:46 pm

A non-vote is a vote for Trump and what comes with -- anti-women, anti-inlusiin, anti-environme nt. And a vote for the independent (now there's the idiot who didn't know "what" Aleppo was) is also a vote for Trump

12:47 pm

12:47 pm

I think so too, ruby

12:48 pm

Womens' rightsq were too hard fought for to let them slip away

12:48 pm

12:48 pm

Teaching our children and grrandchildren to respeect the "other" is crucial!

12:49 pm

12:49 pm

Hillary may have done foolish things, but she's certainly not stupid

12:50 pm

I think you are preaching to the choir, ruby

12:50 pm

A1ll the things Obama is blamed for aree the result of his having sserved with a Congress and Senate blocking him at every turn

they have bragged about blocking obama. they do not deserve to be in public office.

12:52 pm

I'm not recommending abortion, for those of you opposed, but every woman deserves that right

nbt finally, with 29 to go

12:52 pm

It is not for the government to tke away that painful choice

those who oppose abortion do not care about women or children or public health, they only want to punish women for having sex

some of them actually admit it, too

12:53 pm

I should clarify my earlier comment -- I have nothing against Americans -- I enjoy and respect the friendship our countries have -- I just prefer the Canadian way!

i will be happy when america adopst a canadiana-style singe-payer plan.

single-payer, not singe. (ouch!)

12:55 pm

I'm here in the land of full medical coveragge witth no coverage at all!

12:56 pm

After falling ill in Honfleur on one holiday, I have nothing but praise for the French medical service

12:57 pm

Unfortunately, I don' qualifyeven though I pay French taxes

12:57 pm

<-- lives Honfleur!

almost as weird, here in the US, some of us poor folks get state funding for medical, and in my state, with a backwards republican craphead governor, who could have vetoed it, we actually have it! (that's the one good thing our gov has ever done)

ruby, do you need to have lived there longer or what?

The people here are vry friendly and doctors and nurses (for blood tests) make housecalls

1:00 pm

I've applied and don'tknow why I haven't gotten it.

1:00 pm

yes - I was talking about Honfleur with those comments

1:01 pm

No ne of my friends understands it and even the social services lady is puzzled

weird. sounds like a bureaucratic snafu

1:02 pm

Did you remember to change your clocks this morning :)

2:58 pm

nope ...did you? was about 3 when I remembered and that was only because the computer had changed

:D Tee hee. Yep. We were at my OH's parents' house and they were frantically clock changing

2:59 pm

I'm not enjoying this puzzle much...

2:59 pm

I still have 35 to go

I've got 42. I doubt I shall finish today

3:00 pm

I'm sure I wont!

I used to be anal about finishing but then realised it was becoming more of a chore than a game. I worry less now and enjoy it more :)

3:01 pm

I do what I can without looking at the list, and that's it for me

3:02 pm

usually around 2/3rds

I list when I feel like it. Whatever works for every person, is my view. I have the list up now but again, it's more of a nudge than anything else.

3:02 pm

which actually Ido have today, just doesn't feel like it somehow

I always feel stupid when I open the list though and find the really obvious words I should have seen on my own.

3:04 pm

it wouldn't be any fun if it was too easy though...I like a bit of a challenge

3:05 pm

let's lodge a protest :)

3:07 pm

good night kallia!

Good night! We have loads of fireworks going off here, so it'll be a while before bed here

3:07 pm

what is going on?

Diwali. The Hindu festival of lights, I suspect

3:08 pm

I didn't know today was Diwali.

3:08 pm

I wish I had some vindaloo to celebrate :)

Aaah - a fan of the culinary napalm, I see ;)

3:09 pm

no - I just know it from Red Dwarf :)

I think it was actually yesterday but celebrations tend to go on a while, especially as it's Guy Fawkes night on the 5th

Ha!

Apparently, it is tonight, Diwali.

3:10 pm

There was an episode of the Office about Diwali.

But it lasts 5 days. Then it's the 5th of November, so we get non-stop fireworks from now til then, basically

3:12 pm

I still have 59 words to go, four blank tiles, and no 7s or 8s. grrr

3:12 pm

make that three blank tiles :)

I think I'm going to give up in a moment. It's too much like hard work

3:13 pm

agreed

3:13 pm

I'd like to get halfway first

3:14 pm

I think if you took this grid and folded it in half sideways and then again in half vertically you would hae 4 mirror images. Well, not exactly, but still.

Anybody an expert on probability statistics? If every grid is completely refreshed, what are the odds that you could have the exact same grid reappear, and in how many days?

I once chose my 7 scrabble letters and came up with the name of the friend I was playing with--in almost perfect order (last two letters of 7 letter name were reversed.)

5:53 pm

That's amazing!

It was pretty cool.

I always come here and totally kill the chat.

6:10 pm

hi min, I am well and you?

6:10 pm

I am up to 17 minutes on the elliptical machine!!

6:10 pm

Around here it's often called "fry bread" -- irish/celtic type of bread made in a cast iron pan in our household

6:10 pm

I read that, peri! you are so inspiring!

6:11 pm

ah, ty stiddy.

6:11 pm

well, age is just a number

6:11 pm

I used to make it all the time, but since I had to stop eating wheat it seemed insurmountable. Now that I know more about gluten-free cooking I am better able to know which recipes are likely to work, and this one was a good substitute for the old one.

6:12 pm

help with either mi5/14 pls

6:12 pm

So many products out there for gluten free cooking these days. Fantastic!

6:15 pm

That's so nice! My sis-in-law can't eat gluten. We adjust for her. I don't mind doing it for big family gatherings. Took a bit of a learning curve at first though.

6:17 pm

yes, it has been rough -- every once in a while I "cheat" and then I remember why I shouldn't... but as with all the other food allergies I am getting better at asking questions and helping people understand. :-) I am glad your sister in law has you in her life. It can be lonely in families that don't understand.

7:26 pm

I believe that I will have to start going to the laundromat again after I sell my house and rent an apartment again.I hope to get apartment with laundry on premises though.

7:27 pm

That sounds better Min! I couldn't believe it cost me $25 to do 5 large wash loads and 3 dryer loads. Geesh!

7:31 pm

Well, off to fold all that laundry. Happy babbling all.

7:32 pm

Been over ten years since I used a laundromat. I am sure that the prices have gone way up since then. I spent 2.50 for to wash medium load of laundry & 2.00 to dry I think

Hello Nef!How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid.

7:45 pm

Thanks, Min. How are youdoing these days? (I haven't seen you lately; we're having some mild computer problems so I'm not online as much right now)

7:48 pm

I do not get to Babbleland very often, Nef.Dealing with a lot of different things: very sick husband, divorce, selling house, work. But life goes on and I get here when I can.'

7:49 pm

((((Min)))) I've been keeping you in my prayers. Has he been pretty sick lately? at

7:51 pm

7:52 pm

hi what; how are you doing?

7:52 pm

wht; not what

7:54 pm

Hi Nef. I am doing well. I get to care for our grandson if Friday mornings and I am loving that.

7:54 pm

How old is he?

7:54 pm

My grandson seems to love it as well based on the way he smiles when he sees me.

7:55 pm

He is almost 15 months.

7:55 pm

(My grandson is 7 now; we get him at least every Friday night (my son is a single dad; the mom basically calls at bedtime to say goodnight to him)

7:56 pm

they are so much fun at that age. :-)

7:57 pm

He doesn't talk but he has no problem letting us know what he wants.

7:58 pm

8:08 pm

What does it mean when babbler has a flag, but you can't click on their profile?

8:08 pm

Hello lil*monkey! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid

8:09 pm

Hello!

8:09 pm

Hi lil*monkey

8:10 pm

I've never seen that before, Min. Maybe they have't written anything yet?

8:11 pm

(thatnsk for the info on the 8, Min. I just got it now; the monkeys worked hard on that)

8:11 pm

I haven't seen that either Minver... I think Nef is right though. They probably have started their profile & picked the flag but haven't written anything yet.

8:11 pm

A lot of babblers have nothing written in profile, but you can still click on their profile.Maybe it is because they do not have an icon yet? Not a big deal, really, just curious.

8:12 pm

I guess we'll have to ask the person who has that then

8:12 pm

I guess so Nef, but I think they're in lurk mode right now.

8:13 pm

PLUS, I have never seen this babbler in the chog anyway.

8:14 pm

Anyway, I'm just a nosey babbler. It's none of my business

8:15 pm

Now you've got me curious too.

8:15 pm

Hello JeeWhiz! How are you doing today?Welcome to grid

8:30 pm

Min, I search for words & am cleaning the keys with rubbing alcohol & Q-tips. Who knows if I'll even finish tonight?

8:30 pm

😀

8:30 pm

Thought you were asking me for help JeeWhiz.Just hollar

8:30 pm

Hi JeeWhiz

8:33 pm

I just reread your post. I thought you said you had 5 left.I see now you have five left to reach the halfway point, lol

8:34 pm

YEP! I "only" have 1 left until I reach half way now. ;-)

8:34 pm

hello everyone. Minveryork I am so sorry to hear that you are in the middle of so many things all at once. I hope you find your way to the end of all of it soon and peace wins.

8:36 pm

Hi Bugs.

8:36 pm

Thank you so much Bugsaw! Always good to come here to get away from it all! I hope everything is well with you. I have not seen you here in Babbleland for quite awhile.

8:45 pm

Some of us come here to get into it all

8:47 pm

especially "someone" named rururocks, right?

8:47 pm

I have been a lot quieter lately Min. I just got back from a weekend away for family reunion of cousins who share a common grandfather. This year someone organized a trivia game that was a fun way to share stories from the different families. It was a hoot

8:47 pm

ruru loves parties

8:47 pm

Correctomundo!!

8:48 pm

:-D

8:48 pm

Was this familhy reunion in Minnesota or in another state

8:49 pm

I am in Canada Min. It was in Victoria, BC

8:50 pm

DUH,the Canadian flag which is right in front of my nose!

8:50 pm

I learned that my Dad was a veteran eligible for benefits because he served overseas in WW 2. His twin got the flu and was not sent on the same transport ship and then they didn't send more so he wasn

8:50 pm

<waving my hand up high > I'm the Minnesota person, Min

8:51 pm

Wonders if highlighting some cave drawings will be pleasing to minver

8:52 pm

Hey, Bugs, can you post how you played the game in your profile? It sounds like something fun for any family.

8:52 pm

was not supposed to be called a veteran. BUT they changed the rules for him because when he was loading a huge bomb into a plane, it dropped 6 feet onto the tarmac in front of them but didn't go off.

8:52 pm

That's right Nef, you are! Three cheers for Minnesota! I'm a former Minnesotan myself.

8:52 pm

I guess they figured they were scared enough to deserve benefits!

8:54 pm

So, Bugs, are you saying your dad's twin was the one loading the bomb?

8:54 pm

I drop bombs all the time. Where are my benefits?

8:54 pm

Pun bombs

8:55 pm

I was going to say what type of bombs, ru; but you beat me to the punch

8:56 pm

It was hilarious Nef and it would be fun for any family. We all came up with multiple guess questions about family stories and then were in teams to try to puzzle them out.

8:57 pm

My Dad

8:57 pm

Dad

8:57 pm

----- is great at charades

8:57 pm

oh crap...................

8:58 pm

Oh Wow! Thank goodness it didn't go off; because if it did you wouldn't be playing Babble! ;-)

8:59 pm

his twin and some other guys dropped the bomb but not all of the kids in my family knew that. Me for one.

9:00 pm

How was he under missle toe?

9:01 pm

I sure hope it didn't land on his foot ruru but I am sure he would have loved your diagnosis!

9:02 pm

One question was What was the first thing our grandfather did when he gave up being a vet for horses. The correct answer was he and a friend created a town.

9:02 pm

He is lucky he didn't have an explosive temper. 😄

9:03 pm

There was lots of discussion around which town and since his name was Will he should have called it Willville.

9:05 pm

That sounds like fun. I just got my aunt's copy of the family tree & have discovered several good stories about some of our ancestors. I should make up some of these for our next family gathering.

9:05 pm

Another question was What did one aunt and uncle have in the living room when they first bought a huge Victorian mansion - a valuable set of period furniture, a grand piano or a sailboat. He was a musician. Any guesses from you lot?

9:06 pm

A grand piano?

9:06 pm

It was a sailboat!!

9:07 pm

They had to get the boat out before he could have his grand piano

9:07 pm

In a living room?

9:08 pm

(My youngest aunt is 83 I think & is moving into a senior housing apartment. She gave this to me for safe keeping (!?!!) during the move ; she said she hasn't totally read it all.

9:08 pm

Was it anchoring down the decor?

9:08 pm

WHAT? A sail boat in the living room? What a hoot!

9:08 pm

One of the hardest was to name all the cousins in birth order and you could get bonus points if you knew the year. The biggest trick was knowing which of the cousin twins came first.

9:09 pm

I have no idea how they got it in there or why they even had a sailboat ruru. My sister the teacher moved us on to the next question too soon.

9:10 pm

How many cousins do you have?

9:10 pm

I have 34 cousins

9:11 pm

Get everyone to send in questions, Nef. It was so much fun because you don't know what others don't know.

9:11 pm

Two have passed away though

9:11 pm

Sounds like fun bugs

9:12 pm

I have 58 on my mother's side (which is the side that gets together)

9:12 pm

Holy crap ruru, you came from a family of lovers!! There are only 10 of us left but 2 are too old and rickety to come.

9:12 pm

58 !!! Yikes

9:13 pm

34 cousins rururocks? Are they all first cousins? That's alot

9:13 pm

Yes those are first cousins

9:14 pm

We all come from the twins. One question that only one team of 4 got right was What did the wives buy every year on their husband twins' birthday?

9:14 pm

My parents were the only ones who just had two kids

9:14 pm

Only have 4 first cousins and three second cousins I think

9:14 pm

Turns out it was a birthday card for each twin to give his brother. They didn't care.

9:15 pm

How would you even know that bugs?

9:16 pm

My sisters knew because my mother complained about how stupid the twins were. Eventually they gave it up and ignored the twins who were ignoring the other one and went out for lunch together every year. I remembered that part.

9:17 pm

Bugs,I read something (in the family tree) about the Younger Brothers (from the Jesse James gang back in the 1870's or '80's were sleeping in a room next to my great great grandfather's room & they had to go through his room to leave their room. (The Jesse James gang tried to rob the Northfield MN bank the next day & they weren't able to rob it).

9:18 pm

I also learned that one year my Dad bought a green car and found out that his twin bought the same make and model a few days later only in blue. I knew we always had a green car and the cousins knew that always had a blue car but only one of us knew about the twin not connecting but communicating thing.

9:18 pm

Your mother sounds like a doizy bugs

9:19 pm

Doozy

9:20 pm

SHe was bizarre but lots of fun when she was having a good day ruru

9:21 pm

Great story about the Younger Brothers, Nef. My family probably would have put a spin on it about them not being able to rob the bank because your GGGrandfather kept them awake all night snoring.

9:25 pm

Well the thing was, the Younger brothers left their room about midnight & the 3 men sharing the room with him were asleep but he couldn't sleep because he kept waiting for them to come back through (I guess he was light sleeper or something). There was some sort of trial or something going on in the town that week & there wasn't any room anywhere; so that's why they were sleeping in a parlor (& the Younger Bro. were sleeping in the dining room I guess).

9:26 pm

The younger Brothers were up all night playing poker with the minister & the funeral director in the funeral directors house!

9:28 pm

.0

9:29 pm

(sorry, just put those keys back on the keyboard)

9:30 pm

Very cool touch with the minister, the funeral director and the bad guys playing cards.

9:32 pm

I'd say the moral of the story is if you're going to rob a bank; don't stay up all nightplaying cards with a minister & the funeral director.

9:32 pm

We made it like jeopardy Nef where most questions could be puzzled out.

9:33 pm

It made for a lot of discussion and terrific guesses

9:33 pm

That sounds good too.

9:34 pm

hello friends

9:34 pm

hey trif

9:34 pm

Hi Trifi

10:46 pm

There are several words in grid that have no definitions.

10:49 pm

I know nothing about Jewish words; and yes; there are quite a few words that are used in Babble that we never see anywhere else. But that's what keeps us coming back I think

10:49 pm

Phantom words for me today were comic, fancy,& inquiry

10:49 pm

The chog is also what keeps me coming back. I love chog.

10:49 pm

and mercy for me

10:54 pm

Same here, Min. I love the chog too. But sometimes I have to slide my tab over so I can at least try to finish the grid. I have just 9 words left now. :-)

10:55 pm

Go Nef go!

10:56 pm

As much as I love the chog, I don't enter until I'm down to three words left. Sometimes I even try to wait until after I have written a story, but have not done that in awhile.

10:57 pm

((hugs)) I am back. Two young adults have taken over the sewing, so I finished the must-do grading and will relax the rest of the night.

10:57 pm

I'm always amazed at how you are able to work the words into a story, Min.

10:58 pm

Hi stid!

10:58 pm

:-D

10:59 pm

Are they making costumes?

11:00 pm
