good night all
good morning all
Hi and hugs, Sprite. Hope all's well with you.
*hugs Liz* Yeah I am good. How are you and yours? Enjoying your guests?
We've had a lovely time. Went out with them yesterday and today - got on with them really well.
how lovely!
It's good to be just us this evening. Guests are great but it's also good to be back to normal.
yeah, I know that feeling :)
We just did what we always do - show people our favourite places and they loved what we showed them. It was only going to be yesterday but they asked if we had time to show them more today - we were very happy because we had such a good time with them.
+
lovely when a visit turns out so well for both parties
Especially because although I've known him all my life, he was my brothers' friend rather than mine.
Oops wrong apostrophe!
great to discover that you and he connect in a nice way too, I think
Yes
*grins @ apostrophe* I'll trade you your apostrophe for my +
A deal :)
:D
cooee and {{hugs}} dear friends. just stopping in briefly before dinner is served.
*hugs rose* Hello darling, missed you yesterday with the big grid. How have you been?
was p til after midnight cooking cock-a-leekie soup, then lept poorly worrying about how to transport everything o the church, and was there enough,,, etc.
Hugs Rose but time for me to go. Hugs, Sprite.
aw poor darling :(
ugh, this keyboard/ *up* and *slept*
bye Liz! Enjoy the quiet evening. Tell your beloved hi and hugs from me too, please
but it was the most amazing soup ever. bye liz. hugs and kisses to you both.
good job, rose.
and i slow cooked roast beef in red wine overnight, nd served it with lettuce leaves used as cups and holding small portions of salad vegs. kerry made the best plum pudding ever with plain custard or brandy custard, all home-made.
wow sounds delish
how's you sprite?
phantom: plethora
I am good. Bit of a bumpy night again, but that is to be expected. Cold is behind me :)
yay... good for you throwing it off.
omg.... i could have said.... and how are the haemorrhoids?
and now to stay away from viruses for a little bit, lol, until I get a bit of resistance back
bad rose, LOL
how about lemon juice, hot water and honey at least twice/day. builds immune system like you wouldn't believe.
does it? Didn't know that, I have been taking it for my throat
the vitamin c helps so much. and the antiseptic properties of honey are also good.
have been taking extra vit. C too. Guess am doing the right things :)
there must be something extra in lemons. i had don on that drink up to three times per day, and he shook off the flu without antibiotics within 4 weeks.
can't fight a flu with antibiotics anyway, grin
yeah, but the secondary infection you usually need them. he also didn't develop asthma.
nice job
hark, i he4 footsteps. dinner ready. xoxox my darling.
enjoy, dear friend, and sleep well tonight
rat e
:) Minus the space it should work just fine
final word: tr8. Any clue would be appreciated, thanks
nm, found it, fireflies
Well done! Can you give me a nudge whilst you're still here, then I can get in the shower :)
good morning
earl
sorry
Does anyone have the tr8/50, and can give me a clue?
tr8...start of three wheeler, misspelling of what a hat goes on, sun god
It is a variation of a geometry term. Whee!
Thanks Molly. Not a word I tend to hear down the high street :)
I'm off out, Christmas shopping (joy). Maybe see y'all later
Ah, Matty is one of the brave who actually goes out into the multitudes to Christmas shop. I am happy to do all mine on line. Amazon is my best friend during the holidays.
I agree Molly, and they will deliver it for you too :)
And gift wrap, if you pay extra. Last year, my son and his wife gave me a steam cleaner for my carpet. He asked for gift wrap since the box was so large. It came in a big, blue, faux suede bag. : D
Great.
I'm glad the we don't celebrate Christmas
We are on a cruise in Northern Norway
Hi all
That sounds lovely, bichon. Will you see the Northern Lights?
hi Liz
If we do see them, probably at a higher altitude. We won't be be at Tromsa until tomorrow
Hope you're lucky and do see them - something I'd love to see one day.
Enjoy the rest of the cruise - I'm leaving 10 words for tomorrow.
good morning friends

I can read sine Herew and Mr. Bich knows enogh knows all Yiddish words
er 8/45, pls
put an e in front of ra7/8 ... which means send out in a circular pattern ... often used in conjunction with "sunshine" or "goodness and light"
sorry dose, don't understand. I dont know the 7/8
... start with television without pictures but change the final vowel ... then past tense of consume food
ty dose
... most welcome ...
... oh well ... just past half way but I'm in a mood ... and the more difficult half isn't lightening the mood ... ... maybe coffee and a walk... sunny skies and luck to all ... and bichon ... watch out for Russian submarines coming out of the White Sea
G'morning!
*Wonders how many people are scratching their heads over "television without pictures"
I've got the word and still don't know what a TV without pictures refers to.
knew exactly what was meant - maybe it is the generation when that was our source of communication
Before TV was ubiquitous, people listened to the ra***, a TV without pictures so to speak
never have seen you before, swmbo--I usually lurk--but you are an Alice person! I have a whole Alice bathroom, including pin the grin on the cheshire cat.
I see you're on line, Rasta--I have no time to spare, Jeremy's back at work. So leaving here v soon.
Hiyas, kiddos! Happpy Friday!

Eva....thank you so much for showing your icon every day! Your little one's adorable face cheers me up from my depression. He's the best medication around!
glad you like my pics -- fyi my icon has changed to a vintage pic of my dad and his mom :-)
oooohhhh how embarrassing -- sorry -- you were talking to EVA LOL
Your picture is cute also Une!
hee hee
oh, TY aeb -- im glad he makes you smile. :)
He REALLY does, Eva!
he IS precious!
remind me of that when he wakes me up at 2:30am and then again at 6am like he did this morning. ;)
adorable lil bugger managed to wrestle an arm out of his swaddle + was WIDE awake entertaining himself + demanding to be fed. heh
Ws he born in the AM or Pm, Eva?
ai5, 12?
Eva ....you said to remind you.....do you want me to phone you at 2AM or 5:30AM, so you'll be ready for these feedings?(LOL)
add a consonant onto ai4/4 above it
sorry - second ai 5,12 - i have the helper one
same thing applies it is pt
what we breathe ....pt
how did i not see that one :)
too busy breathing
he was born at 4:23am!
Then he's a morning child....raring to go in the early morning hours!
mustve gotten THAT from his father...
Was he an early riser in utero?
if he was, it never woke me up... though, to be fair, i was getting up quite early for work every day. (begrudgingly)
50 to go
ah.....maybe you trained him then!
probably. i wonder if i can un-train him!
*Imagines Wee Evan doing Mel Gibson's "dislocate your shoulder to get out of the straight jacket" trick in Lethal Weapon
clearly mama didnt swaddle him tight enough!
I've never really understood swaddling. I can't imagine it's comfortable to be all wrapped up in a tight blanket while sleeping.
thats how they are in utero...so most babies find it comforting
keeps them from thumb sucking also.
Actually they have much more freedom of movement in utero. And many babies suck their thumb in utero as well.
seems my guy had plenty of freedom of movement!
ty Une for he8
He is a feisty one. But then, so is his Mom. : D
i just play feisty on tv. ;)
both my kids hated swaddling with the passion of a thousand burning suns. But I think they were cramped in utero and had no desire to relive the experience :)
Son loved iot, daughter kicked right out of it.
Should have been my first clue.
heh
independent women for the win, hego
Nugget hated it at first, but i tried it again after a few weeks + it worked like a charm!
Right Mael. lol
Hi Eva.
hiya hego. :)
The boy is growing fast!
he sure is a cutie, Eva!
indeed!
He's a person already!
42 to go
moon for the finish!
i cant wait until i get a sense of his personality!
Don't rush it!
I hear you, Eva! They get so much fun
time for lunch. Good day all!
i know -- i so often catch myself saying "i cant wait..." but then i snap to + realize that i dont want to waste a moment with this little man. :)
to be perfectly honest, I don't miss the early stages at all. Not even a little bit.
people think its all cooing over this little creature... more often than not, its trying to stop them crying!
mine were super easy babies and it was still... boring to take care of them while they were very little. Now the eldest is hilarious and the little guy is at least interactive :)
i get moments where he's happy, but most of the time, if he's awake + not eating, he's fussy... he hasn't shown much interest yet in toys, and hates being on his back. not a big fan of tummy time other than being held... i guess he's just a lover. ;)
cuddles cure all, usually, just leave you with very little time for anything else :)
it'll pass! The days are long but the years are short, as they say
indeed
I found baby carriers worked pretty well
i have a moby, but hes not a huge fan...sometimes hes been ok with it, but most of the time not...
we also have a more structured jeep-brand carrier, but last time i tried it, he was still a little too small for it
yeah, I mostly used ergos and ...trying to think the other one
my wife used ring slings mostly
I think it was a beco the other one I used
The ergo had a booster cushion which helped
I remember walking up and down the street at night singing row row row your boat to her :)
i wish there were carriers that were easy to put on once el bebe fell asleep on you... if i puthim down to strap the moby on, then try to put him in it, theres NO way he wouldnt wake up...
33 to go

Hey, hurshy :)
Howdy babble buddies!
Hello, ori. It's quiet.
Hard to imagine anyone has anything better to do than babble on a Friday night :D
Oh, um, right! I'm actually on my phone at a wild party.
Of course. I'm getting ready for a hot date :D
lol
I just remembered I'm supposed to be going to a college football game tomorrow morning. The weather calls for 90% chance of rain. :/
Doesn't sound fun at all.
Back in a few minutes
checking origami's return
Hmmm
oops
more than afew
hey jellen
did your brother relent?
Hi ruru
Nope
I do have a question for you
Yes?
do you think loki will not try to eat another dog that you adopt/
not much difference between a cat and a pug as far as size
Oh...
Good point
He got along well with the other dogs in the country though.
you have to be really careful to introduce them (a new dog).. so that he doesn't become territorial.. meet the dog on neutral ground and do not leave toys or bones on the floor where they can fight over them.
we had to gradually introduce our rescue dog.. took about two weeks.
Ok. Thanks for the advice.
good luck with that.
Hello friends
Good Evening All.
Hi Bugsaw
hi bugs
Hi Nef
Indeed Ru. There were a couple of rescue dogs that my son's friend brought in here that screwed up the whole dog dynamic around here. Thankfully there are gone now.
hello nef
Hi Nef. Hope you are well. And Jellen... any new houses yet?
Hi Bugs. Hi Nef.
one has to be very slow and thoughtful in introducing new pets
cats or dogs
No, no new house.
hi origami and ruru too. no favourites.
and second boyfriends :D
Indeed. Cats can be even worse.
Hi Jellen, Bugs, origami, ruru & everyone else.
Second boyfriends? I would settle for one :D
Hi Nef!
ha!.. i'm going out on a intro date on sunday
at least one at a time, origami
I hope she doesn't think i'm homely looking
OK, fine Bugs. I'll stick at one at a time :-)
Wishing you the best on your date Ru! Where did you meet her?
ru, just wear a mask of your icon; that smile ought to make her smile too.
Just saying Ru, you are not homely.
ruru, I don't think looks matter as much to women as men. We want to know your soul. If she doesn't enjoy your company it just means you are not compatable, not that you failed somehow. There are lots of weird people out there looking for love. I dated quite a few.
Good luck ruru! gotta run...
origami, I trust you to only date one at a time but when I was dating (years ago of course) it seemed it was either feast or famine. The men either showed up all at once and I felt hurried to choose or there were no dates for months
we're meeting for coffee for the first date.. if she gulps it down I guess i'll know it didn't go well :D
What Bugs said. Women don't care as much about looks as men do. We are smarter. We care about what is inside.
do let us know how it went though, ruru. We care about each other here
Bye Jellen!
Bye Jellen
will do.. we've been emailing each other.. so far she's getting my weird sense of humor
Then relax and have fun!
I am not nervous .. it's funny.. usually I am
origami, when I was young, I had lots & lots of guy friends, but didn't have a boyfriend until I was 20. :-( I was so frustrated at the time; but I still have a couple of those same guy friends from way back then. Now, when I look back on that; I think it was the best thing ever for me.
Hey, getting the sense of humor is absolutely the most important part. I totally want updates.
Hey, getting the sense of humor is absolutely the most important part. I totally want updates.
ok ori
That's good news that she has a good sense of humor, ru;
so far she does.. she's a little younger than me by 6 years
Cradle robber
I've always been with older women.. I need a change :D
That's not too bad then, ru.
At our age it doesn't matter ruru. Mr Bugs is 8 years older than me. Except for rock music eras, we are of the same generation.
yeah.. that's what I thought.. I hope she doesn't think i'm too old
Bugs, I haven
haven't what?
is mr bugs 8 years older.. well.. how bout that
I really like mr.bugs a gentle soul he is
Oops, Bugs, I haven't actually dated in a while.
The only time I noticed was when I was watching a Freddie Mercury concert from long ago and really enjoying it. Mr Bugs came in and wrinkled his nose. "Who is that?", he asked. I told him and he said, "Well, he won't catch on." . . . I died laughing
sorry
I am glad you are settled and happy origami.
Oooooh Freddie!
I liked Freddie.. but not all the queen stuff
the guitarist (Brian?) is really an awesome guitarist
Well, Bugs, I actually am settled. But I would actually like to have a relationship with someone. A low key relationship. I really miss my husband still.
May I ask how long origami?
I want more than a low key relationship
I LOVE QUEEEN! Intentionally upper caps.
I hope to find someone that wants to explore the world and have fun, and cook together and listen to live music and just hang out and read ... or go to the ocean
Sorry, distracted again. I love Queen too
Anyone mind if I ask questions??
sure
There are lots of lovely women who would love to have a life doing those things that you enjoy, ruru.
I am glad to meet you, sangs
ruru, you shouldn't have a time finding someone ..
you too bugs
here's hoping.. i haven't given up on love yet i guess
I want the same thing in a person you want also, Ru. I am just dubious I will find it.
Yes, never give up!!!!! It could just be a matter of timing so the longer you are patient and wait for the right one, the timing will jibe somewhere.
This is my second marriage, and we are still having a ball, even though sold our Honda Goldwing conversion bike.
Snags Ru will have no problem finding an awesome woman.
hey bugs maybe i can see you two in Nanaimo in the summer
Oh I have confidence in him........... :)
thinking about mid june or late june
I am way more compatible with my second husband, snags but we wouldn't have been attracted to each other when we were younger so our timing was great.
ruru, my younger brother dated a gal 20 years younger than he was. he'd ask her why she was dating an "old fart" like him. Her reply (every time!) was that he made her laugh & also could understand her sense of humor too. They dated for about 6 -7 years; then her job transferred her & eventually the distance kind of wore out the romance.
i hope so.. i wish i had your confidence ori.. it's been a slow process for me
We have stopped traveling,as hubby is having health issures.
We would love to see you again anytime that works, ruru. You are so much fun. Don't settle. Real compatability and love is out there waiting for you.
Bugs, good for you.
Nanaimo is only 1 hour away. We go there to shop so, of course we would go to where you are!
i do like to have fun
My current hubby doesn't appreciate my sense of humor though............ but, heck I do!!!!!!!!! lol
oh great.. we'll stay in touch about it. i'm planning to take more time off work this year. and maybe take 6 days off which would be a first
that's too bad snags.. I think my humor is why my ex-wife married me..but hard to say
lol snags!!!
It has been an incredibly slow prices for me. I was devastated by my husband's death. But, I have had a couple of relationships that didn't play out. But you're cool, and funny, and that makes you a hot commodity, /ru.
Process rather
Why not 7 days ruru? That way you have more time to spend and appreciate wherever you visit.
3 days is a long weekend, not a holiday
it's hard for me to be gone that long.. then i come back to a firestorm in the business... 4-6 days would be like a month to me
I found my hubby after I gave up on "finding a man." I think that (for women, anyway) we can be so hung up on "finding" someone that it scares men away.
I can also proudly say that I've lost 15 pounds of weight as of today
so learn how to delegate or realise that none of us is truley indispensible. I know, that is a very hard lesson for some of us
YAY, ru!! (I ha4/5 you right now.) ;-)
You go on the weight loss Ru! However, we should go out and eat an incredibly calorie-laden meal soon ;D
too true, Nef. I date 3 men before I gave up and met Mr. Bugs. One for 3 months, one for 3 weeks and one for 3 days. I learned fast that when you are our age, compatable is harder to manage.
ha
Well done, ruru. I wish I could say the same.
i'll be in sac twice before xmas.. i should bring you more vino.. did you ever have the champagne?
I'm still on my first marriage, it will be 43 years come March.
that's an awesome accomplishment nef
i made it to 30..
but i was so unhappy for several years of that 30
Wow, ru; that is an accomplishment too. I think it would be very difficult to start over after that long.
I still have the champagne ru. I am going to take it to my friend's place where I am going to spend the days between Christmas and New Years and bust it open on New Year's Eve.
yes.. that's for sure.. i wasn't sure i wanted to try again.. took me a while to sort stuff out
oh perfect ori.. i should bring you more so that you can blow them away.. i'll email you my dates in Sac
I made it to 19 with the first one but 10 of them were with white knucles. Mr Bugs has been 17 years with only one big argument.
life is good
yes.. he's a good guy mr bugs
Yes, Ru.
i know i'm coming up on the 14th and 21st.. if you have time for a coffee or something
I have a friend who divorced her husband of 32 years. She swore off men for about8 years; then he daughter signed her up for one of those dating sights (I don't remember which one though). She found a lovely guy & they've been married for 2 years now. (Her first husband started drinking & became an alcoholic; she didn't want to date after that because she didn't want to date the same character faults as the first one.)
I don't think anyone ever plans to marry again after going thru a bad marriage and divorce. The risk is huge. It is when we give up looking and relax that the right one comes along
i hear that nef
i don't have to live with anyone.. but a companion and friend would be nice to start
You are so right, Bugs.
they'd have to like british Columbia though :D
Yes,it is not wise to rush things.
I'm good on the 1st Ru
who wouldn't like BC?
Is that where you like to go for your short breaks, ru?
the 14th? ok.. i'll get timing to you
I love British Columbia.. it is just gorgeous there everywhere
I'm going to explore more of it every year i live
The evening of the 14th would be OK.
okey dokey
i'll work on my pet-sitters
I hosted a Babble meetup here years ago Nef and was so impressed that Uusue drove all the way from Illinois and Hego and her husband flew from NH to Seattle to see their kids and come up for the visit. Others came from Oregon, Washington and other places in BC. It was so much fun
You are always welcome to visit. Babblers are nice people
we'll have to get your barge down here to the bay bugs :D
i'd love to join ya'll Bugs. Keep me posted Bugs.
It has to hit the water first
we could call it the Babble Barge In
sometimes I think Mr. Bugs should grow a beard and don robes like Noah :D
I have a nephew who lives in Snohomish (sp?) & loves it too. He went up there to work on someone's yacht; others were impressed with his work & also hired him; he met a gal, fell in love & married her & then became a Canadian citizen.
I love the idea ruru!!!
So when you can manage the long trip Nef and Origami, you know where to land in BC
Babble barge! I'm in!
I thought Canada was building a wall when Trump got elected :D
I want the Naoi Suite bugs :D
I thot you were all going to move up and here and become mellow :D
I'm dying to go to Haida Gwai now
It sounds like fun, Bugs. I've tried to meet up with Harpjane & lbdawger twice when we planned to go to MT.; but DH got sick both times & blew it. Then last summer I didn't try to meet up with either one of them because I didn't think we'd get out there (fearing DH would get sick again); & we were out there for 3 days! But we also had our son & grandson along.
You think the barge will have suites? What a dreamer. I had to fight for my own bunk. Two of us were not going to fit into an 18" bunk!
oh well
it was a thought
I have always dreamed of going to Haida Gwaii since I was 19. Then a I met a guy (around that time), and shared my dream with him. The creep dumped me and went to live there with the new one. Life sucks, huh
I'm low maintenance Bugs. I can sleep anywhere.
The summer Uusue was out there, she stopped here in the Cities & we met her for brunch. She is so nice!
Then you are welcome anytime origami, not just for a Babble meetup with lots of people. We have an adequate guest room and great hospitality
Sue told us that she had met you and wanted to bring you along, Nef. It would have been fun but life sometimes interferes with plans sometimes
i have to come back to see Rita the Pug up there again
Watching you fall apart meeting her was the best memory of your visit, ruru. You are such a mush for puppies
god I love pugs.. they are too cute
she was a really cute dog too
she was

i love that painting.. looks great in my house
Thank you Bugs! I would love to visit and meet you.
bugs is a very great person
I will add you to my email, origami.
TY.
I don't think any of the Bablers I've met have been anything but great,ru. And although I haven't met many Babblers IRL, I still think the majority of them are great people,
I look forward to meeting you.
I think that cranky ones don't want to meet anyone real because I have only met genuinely nice people here.
Talk to you later, origami.
I've met Doren, saanich, bugs, DC Seain, KJE, JMC, Ori, and Jillibus and Flosey
and thanks for the commercial, ruru
i'd love to meet Pam someday
I need to find my last 11 words and get more wine . . .
i love Boston.. so its always a possiblity
I wish I could send you guys some wine Bugs..
You are very lucky, ru. That's pretty much a list of some of same people I'd want to meet (I think I have a top 50 list of people here I'd like to meet someday
I have only met Ru. But I have had a long facebook relationship with Rbud (remember her?) and Rubyfoo. I am going to visit her this next summer hopefully
FIFTY? i can't keep that many online people sorted in my head to remember what i know about them.
maybe we will all meet for supper in Nanaimo next June if origami can come up here for a visit then, ruru
Wow, ori, that sounds like fun!
hurshy; there are people (including you) that I've dknownonline for 11 years now.
Perhaps by June there will be some respite time for your DH Nef and you can join us.
need help with anything bugs (wordwise?)
i know, i just, i recognize people's names and know that i have been seeing those names for a long time, but i don't seem to be able to remember as many pertinent facts about you all as other people do, like how old you are, what kids you have, etc etc. there are a few i know but i am always amazed when i see how many things others remember.
After this past month; I really think I'm going to need some respite time away from him. November has been very exhausting for both of us.
ru, I need help with that second column 3rd row "A" if you are offering hints or stats...
you deserve a break nef
indeed Nef She is an incredibly fascinating woman. And I feel honored that she wants me (scruffy, aging hippie chick) to visit her.
(hopes that hurshy remembers me)
well, there are fewer men, so, they are a little easier i guess. but even then i don't know much detail.
thanks for those kind words, ru. I at least recognize that I need a break at this point.
that one is goodbye in French nef
i never can remember which of you guys is the one that foolishly refuses to watch the Princess Bride.
Nef - ar4/4
ad% comes from a different A, ru.
that's me hursh
II is most definitely not me, Hurshy.
YOU the RU! aha!
then it is ar5 nef
no, of course not origami, it is a BOY babbler, (it is ruru)
i'm beyond a boy i think hursh :D
Thanks hurshy, Your clue was correct. And thanks, ru, for the ar 5/10
i just use boy and girl for male and female sometimes, it don't mean a thing (cause it ain't got that swing).
Now that A is blackened out! :-D
i don't have the other of those 2 A's, nef, or i would mention it also.
oh you have it! or do you mean the top A is blackened
it's the ar 5/10, hurshy
i have an ar5/10 but not from there, well two actually, one pl one singular
the 3rd row , 2nd column A, hurshy
aha aha aha aha aha!
eureka, i mean to say

do you ever have like, i'm real sleepy and i want to go to bed, but at the same time, new grid in half an hour! want to play!
All of the time, hurshy. I often fall asleep here t the computer all the time when I do that
oh that is even worse than me then!
oho just remembered two arabic-derived words!
I am back and thanks for the offer of help with words ruru but not so far thanks. pretty easy if I concentrate on looking for words
I *think* I'm playing; then either I wake up with my head on the keyboard or else sometimes I catch myself just before I fall out of my chair. (I now have a new chair which has arms; so less chance of falling now
look, we have 1.5 musketeers. Athos and D'Artan
LOL hurshy, I even tried those words!
we got lucky too, must have eaten just enough fiber
(because we almost have diarrhea)
missed that reference. . .
it's ok, i'm always amusing to myself.
Is that one of your phantom words hurshy?
