mwah.... dentist appointment yesterday. First time in 18 months... with a broken-off tooth... and my usual fear of dentists... and our dentist sick at home for the unforseeable future...
good thing was, they were very understanding once I told them the combination of ptsd and an incest history and dentists was NOT a good one. Seems science finally is catching up, they had just followed a seminar on this relation. And the assistant was also an anxiety coach.
yuck.... i was lucky the last time i broke a tooth. my dentist was able to cap it. *huge sigh of relief*
so they checked my teeth, found out there is not a lot wrong there, just some tartar and gumb inflammation, not a lot. And that darn tooth. With an inflammation at the nerve end.
oh, dear one. the Big Guy is certainly watching over you.
He sure is. He even made it so that the dentist had a bit of extra time, and decided he could pull the rest of the tooth out right away. I agreed and he did and it went okayish. So no waiting at home in fear for it.

oh that was a combination of his rotten temper and my being overly sensitive. He dropped something in the kitchen and threw a tantrum. I asked wth was going on, he said to leave him alone, I said fine but then stop slamming all the cupboards etc. And he said he was about to be out of my hair again in a few seconds, the way I like him to be.
I took that as him accusing me of never wanting him around me. He just meant it for that moment.
*rolls eyes* if it had been me he would have worn the frying pan.

the tantrum was Tim... he can get very angry if things don't go his way, and then he starts cursing, slamming doors, throwing stuff, stamping his feet, running up or down the stairs impersonating an elephant... you get the picture.

rob and I were fooling around on our way to the dentist. I had insisted we leave early, and it turned out that was needed too, since there were roadblocks and detours. So I told Rob to remember to tell me how RIGHT I had been...
he agreed, but I told him to save his superlatives until we had arrived.. and he promised me a song and a dance and a trumpet sound.
then when we got there... just in time... he said I really had been right... and I said, hey, where is my reward? And he actually did a dance, a song and a trumpet sound... and Tim walked away from us, telling a passing stranger that NO, those people were NOT his parents at ALL!
even though I was nervous as hell, we arrived laughing :)

I can't help you. To me, tonic is tonic no matter what kind it is. I usually use Schwepps.

All tonic is...is carbonated water, sugar and flavorings. I can't believe their are "gourmet" brands.

My guess is they are referring to the quinine as a "botanical". All botanical means is herbal or medicinal.
the label says it is a blend of suble botantical flavors with spring water and the highest quality of quinine.
And hey, leave it to snooty gin drinkers to develop a pricey, bad tasting tonic. : P
it has a uniquely refreshing taste and aroma per the label

Peri likes American brands of Gin.. I prefer the British (drier) style of gin with more juniper

For example,for dinner tonight I had a ginormous piece of steak wi/baked potato covered with butter & sour cream.

True. But fusilli and spicy slow roasted shredded pork in a spicy red sauce with sour cream was probably not the best.
(I like the steak & potato that Min ate better than your pork, ore) ;-)
But it WAS darn good.
I hear you about the socializing Nef. I need to do more in the evening and weekends with friends.

I am soo0ooo not a socializer origami, but I went out with friends for drink tonight which I have not do 4/5 in YEARS!
Tomorrow I am going to hang out with someone who was my boss's boss's boss. She is a wonderful woman and is going to attempt to teach me to quilt. I think it will take many lessons.
I hope to become more sociable once I become single. Still don't see it happening soon though.This is taking FOREVER
If I didn't have my friends, (especially my closest 2 nurse friends!) I'd be sunk with all of the stress in my life lately

Was telling my friends I had never been to Madison Square garden and they were shocked. They said I have to go to a game or concert with them there, but they are expensive.
I have clawed myself out of a cave of depression and am taking a few socializing offers here and there. And it really helps actually.

My problem is I do not like to spend money, so I do not buy anything for myself or do anything for myself and now this divorce is totally sucking the life out of my bank account.

Oh, wow, Min. I always have a hard time spending money on myself. I guess I could blame it on a strange upbringing.

I grew up poor; I hate spending money on myself. I even refuse to go through a fast food driven for lunch or coffee because "it's cheap[er at home"
Unfortunately, my kids didn't inherit that trait from me.

The strange thing is that I grew up with some money. But then my father died when I was young and I think my mom lived beyond her means after that. And I have been poor since Nef.
Can't say that I am poor. I actually DO have money,but I'm still a cheapskate when it comes to myself. I'm very frugal.

That's such a great word, Min. Frugal. I think that that's what I am too. If I do buy something, I will buy something that's worth the money I spend on it.
Husband told me that I've had everything handed to me on a silver platter my whole life. Now look who's eating off a silver platter! By the way, what he said is sooooo not true.
Don't you just *Love* people who judge you like that? He knows you well enough he knows how to hurt you with words.
I have to learn NOT to care about what he says anymore.
He also said my father never worked a day in his life which is also not true. However, that can be said for his father.

LOL, Min. In my profile I list a book titled Irregular People. It's written by a Christian writer & may be a bit religious for some people; but it taught me how to deal with someone very close to me who could always make me cry by what she said
She knew just what to say to make me miserable & think that *I* was always in the wrong; but she was the one who was "broken" not me.
I think that Christians have a VERY positive outlook on life
However,some of their views are a little bit skewed I think
I do too; but some Christians can go a bit overboard, you know?
And then there's the "Christians" who twist Christ's teachings until they are completely around!
