good morning all
<-----yawning loudly, only been home an hour and a quarter since we went out at 9:30am. it's now after 5pm. {{sprite}} hope you are more awake than i am. hugs and kisses. *YAWN*
oh my gosh, nearly swallowed the keyboard that time.
happy easter, darling. How was your wake? And how did today go?
last night was amazing. the service quite longish but full of beautiful psalms and prayer and hymns. this morning was just grand. don and i were proxy grandparents for 4 little ones. they all behaved beautifully. and the two couples got to enjoy the morning service fully.
wow :) So proud of you. How are you feeling?
happy easter to you too dearest.
thank you
lunch was, as usual full of laughs, and catching up with the nephews and niece. the the egg hunt, which was so entertaining.
right now i don't care who killed the cat. i am utterly worn out, and so is don. both yawning our heads off and it isn't even 6pm yet...loll
sounds like a beautiful couple of days!
turning in early tonight, I hope :)
i hope so. don will get the evil eye if stays up alter than me.
*giggles*
see ??? look how tired i am.... can't even spell...loll
well enough for your soul sister, hun. I can read rosese
wake up, sweetie. You will end up with the keyboard imprinted on your cheek.
sorry, hun, had an urgent need to attend to..i hate it when that happens.
nah sweetie, nps. I thought you might have fallen asleep at the puter ;)
i didn't even have time to cross myself. LOLOLL
lolll
and I know that feeling, hun. I have to run myself often enough
now that easter is over we can get back to something really serious.... IT'S ONLY 43 SLEEPS UNTIL WE TAKE OFF !! yahoo...
it is amazing. Am so looking forward to it. Rob has taken the days off too, checked it with his coworker and she is fine with it. So is his boss. He will be ours for the full week :)
how lovely. wouldn't it be great if he and don bonded like us?
it wouldn't surprise me. Rob is quick with opening his heart and letting people in. And I believe that Don is a beautiful person with a good heart and a wicked sense of humour. Should be a good combination.
Rob only said his english is very rusty... told him not to worry. My written english is pretty up to par, but speaking and understanding is another thing altogether and I will have to ask you to repeat things a lot too. You will forgive us both, I know :)
oh it is, it is... i live with it... and i'm still here
also told him, his english is miles better than your dutch!
ain't that the truth.. LOLL
hey, how's your french?
rusty too. As is my german, which I need on our camping holiday. But the most important thing is daring to speak, and making blunders, and hoping the locals will not mind too much.
Happy Easter, my lively friends! We'll be speaking 3 languages, simultaneously.
+ dog! LOL
ruby! *hug* Happy Easter to you too, or a blessed Passover, I don't know which one you prefer.
rofloll... helloooo ruby. bonjour ma cherie. xoxox
If we'd get one good rain, the garden would EXPLODE with flowers
*sends one of them dutch rains over to ruby's*
ruby, do i have permission to use tu instead of vous? i sort of think we are close enough.
The ground is like cement so I can't put in my border "cheats"
Of course! Do I have permission to use "cookie" or "sweetie"?
lol! I certainly hope so, couldn't do it without that
anything you like so ;long as it isn't late for dinner. *giggles*
I've been friends with Catherine for many years, but she still uses "vous" because of my (Advanced) age! LOL
codal
<------ exploding with laughter. oh dear....
sorry, no more chat formoi!
she always says that, but she does want to chat more, I just know it
hahah
my spoken english wasn't too bad, was it, ruby?
says the blind man to his seeing-eye dog...
You are a temptress! Your English is perfect! I want to hear your Dutch this time!
I can speak dutch all day if you want, roflollllll.
sprite, we are gonna be fine. i know i am going to be interpreter for don this holiday. anything more than the slow aussie drawl and he is lost.
that should be good. I can do slow. Quick is where it becomes tough :D
lolll. okay. pr...ac...ti...si...ing sl....ow.
that works for me
rofloll
having worked with and looked after such a diversity of nationalities i have quite a good ear with accents. just a tad worried about the glaswegian accent though.
I have trouble with Irish-English or English mumblers. They might as well be speaking Mandarin!
honey, everybody has problems with that. I am sure the people there are used to it and are willing to slow down/try more common english/ etc
I totally love Irish accents. But cannot understand it most of the time, especially not at first.
mother mac, born and brought up in the wilds of scotland always said the people in glasgow talk funny
:D
too funny, aussie is in here!
reminds me of my grandmother... who, when we suggested she'd move to a home for the elderly, said "What? With all those old people?" She was almost 80 at the time.
Back in my teapot!
yeah almost missed them too, ruby
the weirdest accent i ever heard was from an italian friend of mine who went to scotland for training in hyperbaric chambers. he came back speaking with a mixture of italian, scottish and pakistani. i laughed until i cried.
also funny that Xmas is in the easter grid
oh that must have been so funny!
um, sprite? what have you put in your coffee? no m in the grid.
the french Xmas, sweetie
ahhhh, but that is another name for a christmas hymn
yeah, I know. I just enjoy the coincidence of easter and Xmas coinciding.
I know, I am funny that way :)
that is very bemusing. like the thought of what chairs would look like if our knees bent the other way. *grin*
oh! Yes indeed! *gets mind pictures right away*
Did you know that the eastern European pogroms against Jews mostly started on Good Friday?
taxi
was that probably they coincided with passover do ou think?
no I didn't. Another reason why the 'Good' of Good Friday is a misnomer.
back Under cover...
*sends a taxi over to ruby's*
*beep, beep from under ruby's bed*
'Undercover Ruby" new cartoon series about a superpowered detective.
who, in partnership with two miniature ponies disguised as dogs...
fireflies. Last words the weird do words and, sigh, once again the on the ocean word.
WTG SPRITE!!!
...and highly successful because of her frail outside hiding a firespitting inside...
just in time. i'm about to throw in the proverbial towel.
sets out to conquer the corrupt revenue office.
*hugs rose goodnight* In a little over a month, I can do that IRL! Every night. Sleep well, my darling. Give my love to Don too.
lol! I love this story already
ruby, *hugs* and have a terrific day. Cuddle the doggies from me.
ditto dear heart. hope you have a splendid day. xoxox
Hi ladies (and lurkers )
*hugs Kam on her way out*
{{ruby}} xoxox
hello kamanja
hi and bye kam. hugs and kisses girl.
You were giving me giggles so I had to say hi!
((big hug for Sprite and Rose))
and Kam, too!
G'day Rose, may you have a lovely day
and I'll duck back out, have to get some sleep soon, just had to say hi, and bye
Is anybody here?
*Don't mind me, I'm just hiding eggs in the PB
Happy Easter, Molly. Did ytou know that the pogroms in eastern Europe mostly started on Good Friday?
Oh Ruby, what a festive thought! : D
I know :(
Blood shed and rioting for Easter!!
People pick some odd holiday times to be violent (Valentine's Day Massacre)
Peasants in Russia and the Ukraine believed tat Jews killed Jesus. The date of the massacre is a coincidence, I think
That eternal myth that the Jews killed Jesus is amusing. Rome had more to do with the death of Jesus than the Jews did.
I think people still believe it
Declaring war or initiating acts of violence in the name of religion has never made sense to me.
I'llnever be afraid of you, only the Neighbors if they come around with pitchforks -- just kidding
How does the quaint little French village celebrate Easter?
Happy Easter to all
And Happy Passover to you, Bich.
thank you Molly
My Jewish neighbors left here yesterday with an armload of gifts. Is Passover a gift giving occasion?
Not that I've ever heard of. And Passover ends tomorrow
Oh well, could be someone's birthday fell in the middle of Passover or something like that.
Must be.
Hello, I'm back.
The village hurch closed for want of a priest and because of low attendance
There are stil loccasional concerts and funerals for villagers and there were a lot of bells this morning
The word of the day is definitely da6/24. It is an evergreen shrub, but sounds like something the Irish would call a drunkard.
shrub?
ni
Does anybody remember co6 cables? Do they stull exist?

Good morning and Happy Easter, everyone
Hi TNana, Happy Easter to you.

I am not sure we all talking about the same plant.
didn't know that
there is a co drink?
'the co6 I know has brightly colored leaves, red, gold, greens etc. It has small white flowers best to keep pinched off.
maybe we're talking two different plants
Never seen a flowering co6. Just the kind with leaves that are green around the edges and red in the middle.
cyclamen, nan?
the definition says it has flowers
oops we are -- was getting mixed up -- co 6/24 has no flowers and does come in different colours, likes the shade
The only Co7 I have is most chill.
they do flower when they are making seeds to propagate.
no -- was thinking of helleborus -- otherwise known as the Christmas rose or the Easter rose
Not to jam up the works, but the co 6/24 *does* have flowers, just not usually. It sends up a spike of very pretty ones.
I've seen Christmas and Easter cactus, but not co6
that's what I was trying to say!

It does this quite often on my computer. It says there is no word like that in the dictionary, And then later when I go to list, and type it in Licketty accepts it.
I meant Lickety
Oh no!! Ru said a word!! Off to the PB with you. There are Easter treats in there, but I'm sure you would rather have carrots and celery.
Well then, something is wrong with your computer aeb.
I don't know....it seems to work correctly for everything else.
Happy Easter and Passover to those who celebrate - Happy Spring to all
same to you aloy

I want summer to come
I would want summer to come too if I had a pool in my back yard
lol.. and a liquor cabinet :D

cabana vixens
of course
Um, why would Ru want cabana boys?
ergo the vixens
I guess molly if I give up on women?
over here, presumably people were fussy about eating 'dog fish' so it is called rock salmon or huss but that isn't recognised
my favourite fish with chips!
and it is fried or grilled?
dog fish doesn't sound that appetizing to me
I wonder if dog fish fight with catfish
perhaps they use a sword fish
g1 Deeha
they might for the halibut
score a grinning groan, ru
:D
I imagine dog fish would be a little hard to woof down
that didn't oc-cur o me
lol
wouldn't want to bark it up
shall we paws?
that joke was a little ruff-y
doggone it, my lols are not posting
cataAlstrophe

hi again -- took a time out to finish spraying the grapes while there was no wind :-)
ox4.10 dan, and same to you
hi nan
(sounds like Nan isn't into organic farming)
dormant spray, ru -- basically a lime sulphur oil mix to prevent the leaf borers from hatching -- timing is crucial - after the buds form and just before they burst
oh
ty Aloy - nbt
fw, tu6 was a tuffie.. we do the same, nan.. leaf borers are pests
Ru, just wanted to let you know that you have created a Serpentine monster! You and Zooz were talking about other online word games a month or so ago, and I had never heard of Serpentine. Sadly, I am now an addict! I poke around on Babble, then zoom over to Serpentine. I have only played 200 or so games, but already have a pink "coat". I find it even more addictive than Wordsplay or Babble!
ah.. I play mostly at night.. do you use the same name?
oh oh, jotting that down - dare I try it? Is it free?
yes, I am lexophile there, too
it's challenging because there are so many great players there
it is free aloy
giving up on serpentine -- not quick enough
and ru is one of the great players
yeah.. you have to practice a lot
I go through periods of serpentine activity, then I lay off for several months.
I love the way it scores a player's rank -- I attained pink rating a week or so ago, then dropped back down for a week.
I am a mediocre player there nan.. there are some insanely bright people who type like demons
saw you win a couple of times the other day!
tuis
sorry
and you are usually in the top 5
yes.. but that's because there weren't better players there.. I have had my ass handed to me there more than once
For those of you who play there, I would love to know your names on that site. It's nice to see familiar names in the room
i'll see you there. I play in the medium room
off I go - enjoyed the grid and the chat - have a great day all!
happy easter aloy
cnan and you will find me in the bottom 5 most of the time
you can mouse there too nan
ty, same to you ru
happy easter aloy
I will likely never be a master there, but I do love the challenge. I have been addicted to finding words my entire life.
you only just started nan.. if you play more often you get faster
I've played over 5,000 games so I have gotten better
stats for the i please?
is5
Although I have been Babbling for years now, I still rarely finish puzzles. It's just not my goal. I've probably completed less than 10 grids here. I love the pace of Serpentine. Judgement every 3 minutes!
Are you rururocks there, too?
yes.. .. same as here
ty ru. nbt :)
halfway! bbl
I am still terrible at finding the really long words. As with Babble, compound words tend to elude me. The only boards on which I do well so far are the really low scoring ones. I have actually won a few of those rounds. The masters amaze me. What rank are you?
I will look for you guys. I haven't played the medium room yet. I like the bigger grid.
doea
*oops! typo AND wrong box ... sheesh
I get killed in the hard room
there are too many really great players there
are you lexophile at serpentine?
yes, nan. same name
i will try the medium room sometime
do I need to use my email for serpentine?
I think so
i know you have to register
in fact, since i am now blind to any more words here, i think i'll pop over to serpentine and try the medium room
hope to "see" some of you there sometime!
I play also ... poorly
why don't you open a gmail account and use that for all of your gaming, mlf?
thanks cyber
speaking of players has anyone seen stidmama or stidgmere lately?
stid was here last night
stidmere doesn't play anymore
haven't seen either of them for a long time -- too bad mere isn't playing anymore -- is she ok healthwise? --- Did enjoy meeting both couples when we were on our way to China a few years ago.
You guys are really word game-a-holics. I can barely make time for this one.
no idea nan.. sorry
not really molly -- just drop in to serpentine when I have a few minutes to kill
stuck on the last 4
tu 6/21 please?
tu + double curvy letter + mr. gore
ty blah
took me forever to find and remember the electric car
2nd co 7 please?
Ends in a web ....like the one you administer

ty ruru, Mary, Une, lickety and all cluers - firewords! al5/12 short for long for "but" was my last
Good for u dan
Good for you 2Bit
I never see that al5 word. It seems like misspelled texting for a real word.
Lil Bit, very nice picture of your engagement ring. Congratulations again.
Thanks molly!
serpentine is blinding!
It is tough. I don't play particularly well.
well, ru, i got my blue coat for a bit... back to pink now. MLF showed up with a bang!
Blue coat? Pink?
on serpentine... rankings are denoted by different colored squares. pink = class B; blue = class A, etc.
Oh, other board talk.
Ru mentioned the game weeks ago. I have now become an addict
Need help with th 4th ha5/12 and the ha6/21 that comes after it, please?
What's your name there lex?
Marc, I have the plural of the 4/5 above it.
yes I have that one too. I need the one after that, please?
hello friends, and a blessed easter to those who celebrate it.
lex who are you on serpentine?
I'm confused. The one I clued is the 4th. are you looking for the second one?
The second ha is a 4/5 meaning to stop the following 5/12 is the plural of that on. These are followed by a ha5/12 and a ha6/21. The last two is what I am looking for.
Oh, the fourth ha is a short laugh + a Spanish cheer
thanks
thought you wanted the fourth ha 5/12
sorry for the confusion
al7, please?
help with 2nd te5/10 pls
nm
hello all
the buds on your tongue for seeing how good food is, te5/10

electronic sister??

then you can unplug her I guess :D
hee hee
or find out where the batteries are :D
20 to go

do6 rhymes with Ms. Andrews from The Sound of Music (at least I think so)
hmm
tyvm
really having a tough time with those bottom As
anyone give me a clue on the longer a's on the bottom?
They're hard to clue - singular and plural of a word defined as "any plant belonging to genus ... of the mallow family" (in an alternate spelling that adds an extra vowel).
Includes hollyhocks and marsh mallows, apparently.
tx gillie, that worked
is there also a 5 letter a on the bottom?
nm, found it
missing a 7 letter c, last word
have the cable and the temperature one
well that was close...fw with about 2 minutes to go
most hip
plural plants for shady areas have colourful leaves
I had that one tx nan, turned out to be the second one
yeah had that
oh no -- that was co 8
