Hi MLFAN
hi scrab
I went to bed early so I am up early. And it is my on call weekend too.
oh boy scrab lucky u. I went to bed just about midnight. got hot, head was hurting and my ear was itching and I decided I just couldn't sleep anymore.(I am sleepy and I know it wasn't a real smart thing to do but I had to ughh)
If you cannot sleep the best thing is to get sleepy somehow. I read until I pass out.
oh trust me I will probably doze off during the day but that isn't anything unusual for me
I am not a napper, unless I am sick or really tired. But I typically wake up with a migraine if I nap so I resist napping. My brain is very sensitive to changes in sleep patterns.
when my husband was working one of his jobs we both got up early so I took a nap. I never had before, but a two hour nap at that time made me feel so good when I got up. I have tried naps in the past few years and it just doesn't happen anymore. I could however take short naps in my wheelchair sitting in front of tv or puter lol
Does your neck get sore?
cooee and g'day. {{mlf}} {{scrabs}} xoxoxto you both.

Hi folks happy sunday. Watching the London Marathon. Cried when the great David Weir won the wheelchair race. All the nobodies that have received kbnighthoods and he has been ignored. Scandalous
I don't know about him but that sounds unjust.

'morning, folks
i am about to get ready for yoga class
what kind of yoga? Oh, I haven't been in so long!
morning welk
vinyasa
excellent - have a great time
i guess that's really ashtanga.
i started the grid last night and was up way too late. feeling wiped out
I am not sure - I think they might be two different forms?
yes, I get that. I stayed up WAY too late Thursday, and still feel not quite sorted
time to run. have fun.
I stayed up until midnight last night was awakened by my ear itching, my head was hurting and I was hot. so I was awake before 6am. I am sleepy but no way I was going to get back to sleep. cat slept in my lap after I sat up in bed

we went to a dinner theatre production of rock of agest last night - was really, really good
love to hear that welki! I am making oooodles of costumes right now for "seussical the musical", middle school version.
I love theatre in all forms
you'd need a fat wallet to go to the popular shows in big cities
me too trif
I know, right!!?? And yet they constantly complain about how "no one goes" anymore
i work with a woman who (no kidding) has flown to nyc 2 or 3 times to see hamilton
trif I saw parts of the movie Rick of Ages didn't really impress me but I love the music
welk that woman is out of here mind lol
....probably because parts of Rick didn't age as well as you'd imagined :D
I saw the movie too - was doing something else in the background
which did you like better?
that woman is lucky, but slightly nuts
I agree trif
I can't stand tom cruise, so he rather ruined the movie for me, but I saw what they were going for
I don't know WHY it is so hard to translate a great musical or play into a successful movie - so many examples....A Chorus Line, Rock of Ages, Rent....GREAT plays, meh movies
i didn't realize or forgot he was in it i kind of thought it was funny but i am not much of a fan of his since the whole couch thing on Oprah plus i think he has screws loose
I saw trailer for the new Tom Cruise movie The Mummy, coming out this summer... it looks very exciting.
sweet icon, mlf....that poor woman
I'm not a fan of his, but the movie looks awesome.
I hope you enjoy that lil.
trif i didn't see any of the shows on stage that you mentioned but i enjoyed a chorus line the movie and i loved Rent i am sure i am missing something from all of them not seeing them on stage but oh well
why do we need another Mummy movie is my question
there are many, many quality community productions or college productions to see. Even if the performance is less than stellar, you still get exposure to the piece, and that is valuable.
I would give my left leg to see Bette Midler in Hello Dolly, that is for sure.
st 6/30 pls?
trif you go can i go with you?
of course, mlf! You can help me to my seat, as I will be missing a leg and all
i am in a wheelchair remember lol?
the st 6 30 is a weird kind of past tense, I think....
i hope that bette midler doesn't get too 'ethel mermany' - she's perfect for the role
they will probably make it so it fits her welk
ty trif i got it
i would like to see Waitress, loved the movie
well done, mlf!
Finished the Ts yahoo!
gads, it is nice to be in the chog with friendly folks. its just not the chog it used to be, is it?
maybe I shouldn't have said that out loud...
no doubt that you're not the only one who's had that thought
yeah, but I am always the one who says what everyone else was already thinking, and it always bites me on the bum
trif, your daughter goes to school in burlington?
yes! lovely town
one of my daughters lives in bennington, not too far away
she is doing an internship in nyc for the summer, however
I have not yet been to bennington, but look forward to a lifetime ahead of exploring Vermont - it's GORGEOUS
really? where in nyc?
(bennington is about 2.5 hours away from burlington)
don't know, actually - I think she is still firming up details
so hell's bells - time for you to start saving pennies to go see hamilton (if you can even buy a seat!)
too funny - everything in Vermont seems to be 2.5 hours away from everything else.
trif, I lurk and watch you all--sometimes write abt you--I have a camp (cottage) on a little lake near Burlington--beautiful. Mostly empty--who wants to come?
tertiare has FINALLY decided - Keene State here she comes! LOVELY campus, perfect school for her, 2 hours from home
excellent round barn! not sure about the "write about me" part though - yikes!
beautiful school, trif - and in the state of live free or die :)
omg welki -- one of my favorite memories EVER - when I was in college, in Ohio, a newspaper in Wisconsin ran a contest to come up with a slogan for their state plates. One of the best entries was "Eat Cheese or Die!"
how many people can sleep in the cottage roundbarn? Might be just perfect for us to rent for graduation next year!
I write interesting things abt you all--or some of you. I have of course only snatches of your lifves, and no way o get in touch with you--but I am easy to find with two websites--I'll send babble poems if anyone's interested. (roundbarnstories is one site.) also Rasta is my daughter--knows every word ther is to know--
we sleep an indefinite number--agoput 8 actual beds, but kids sleep on the porch floor with air mattresses or blankets--
hmmm - have made solid note of same, and website!
it's fully equipped wexcept we have to replace the eco-toilet this summer, the one we put in last year didn't work as well as expected, so going to get a better model. Place is fully equipped with towels, sheets, blankets (for Vermont) a fowboat and canoe. No dock, a tornado carried it off a few years ago. Vt dhouldn't have tornados, but did.
if anybody would buy one of my excellent books I'd practically GIVE it to her/him--I mean one of you babblers (the friendly ones)
roundbarn, this site of yours is AMAZING - what a life you have had!!!
and am still having--I can't get volune 4 finished and its 2 years late. The other websidte is jacqueline-jqckson.com I think--my daughrer maintains them. She designs websites. not rastaa--Megan. Sshe has a name here too but seldom plays.
I am delighted to read about you
Good morning Babble friends.
They keep me off facebook though it might be in my name--they don't want me to be addicted. I could give you a list of thiose I admire--ru, nef, jmnrick, trif and sister car, the stid family we don't see much of--others
good morning origami
origami too--hi, origami
hi, origami
I miss Crossy.
Reading through the chat ... RoundBarn''s poems are wonderful! I have one of her books by my bed.
I miss crossy too.
I dfon't know what the vt plans are--things have been difficult--the kids know I can't be there alone any more--rocks too slippery--so I have to play it by ear as Origami knows--
Hope it works out this year!
we have a little cottage on a pond in Plymouth ma, that we had to rebuild last year - and I mean ALL last year! we haven't really had it for a full summer yet, and I am very much looking forward to this one
gotta leave now--my aim is always half-way and I like the challenging clues--I go to the UU church and need to hit the road soon, presumably breakfasted--so poink to you all--if that's an acceptable word.
have a nice day
I almost met UUSue a while back--she's almost on my flight path to Wisconsin.
What happened to crossy?
ANd thanks for the references to your books, Round
Barn!
Crossy is fine Helen, he's just moved on.
He will be missed a lot, though. With whom will I share jokes and recipes for bacon?
You can find him on FB
Still getting posts about bacon.
How is he listed (searching for Crossy is a tough one)
I'll check
He isn't Crossy. He's Paul Alan.
From Calgary?!?
... was living in Collingwood, Ont
I don't think he's in Calgary. Let me check.
His profile pic ia wolf howling at the moon.
Thanks!
yw
Yes Dose, he lives in Ontario.
When I met Crossy and his lovely wife, he was living just north of Toronto - that would have been about 2 years ago
THe howling wolf will help a lot! Thanks.
yw
I knew he had been in Ontario - but of course, he might have moved. But Calgary would be a startlement.
bbl...
i think you and i are the only calgary babblers who post here, helen
Wes, but if you look at that Facebook list, I've already seen two Paul Alans listed for Calgary! They just are't in Babbling.
would you like me to send you the link to his facebook page?
Don't know what that Wes typo is - possibly from a search for another site. Must stop trying to do three things at once.
found a Paul Alan with a howling wolf logo - assume that it must be the right one - also refers to his wife as his "beloved" which is what Crossy always used - but nothing has been written on the FB page in the last year
the page i'm looking at has a post from april 4th, and it seems as though he posts fairly often
... check his profile on the BAbble RAnkings page
Yes, thanks welki.
check your inbox, helen
that's helensgirlkid@gmail.com
your email address is in your profile :)
I never remember that - all I ever see is the icon when I want to change it!
yoga was cancelled. :(
with no notice? that's crappy
three quarters and this wall will not be knocked over without lickety's help ... ah well ... sunny skies, warm temperatures and luck to all ...
yes and i had a guest who atypically arrived late and i missed her. I need to put her number in my phone.
i'm hoping she will want to hike in peace valley later.
bye, doss *hands him the popeil pocket lickety's hammer*
guess i should start tackling laundry - later, owl, helen, all
bye welk

discreet?
the moving on thing

That's the discreet part. :)
Greetings, word nerds.
Hello dear.
How is Judi today?
good morning nerdita
The sun is shining. The cat is rolling around at my feet. I should be doing chores. Otherwise, all is good, my friend.
Glad to hear it.
<<<< changed icon to pic my friend took. Hard to see, but it's a lone goose perched on the top of a really cool old barn near her house.
Looked , but didn't notice him. Nice old stone barn too.
lol. Find the goose hidden in this picture.
would you say she's flocking the barn?
Now that deserved a groan!
It's a good pic. Everyone should take a gander at it.
well.. it is a big honkin' barn
:D
Look on the roof.
I get goose bumps just looking at it
And with that I leave you! hagd!
bye hego
didn't mean to lay a golden egg or anything
(we might have to call Judi: Mother Goose from now on
Please don't. It will ruffle my feathers.
I wonder how that Goose will get down from the roof?
Oh he'll fly down. Cause there's a pate going on.
oh.. how do the French say it.. that would be the coup de foie gras
*Looks up discreet in the dictionary*
Off to throw in some more wash, then road trip to Trader Joe's. See y'all tomorrow. 23 left in the bucket today. *POOF*
good morning/afternoon everyone

went to costoco with my granddaughter last week... she may never take me again
lol Why?
i spent three hindred dollars .... but
i will not need toothpaste or body lotin for a few years.. heh heh
WTG! smom
lol. So funny
I will never run out of floss or toilet paper.
got enough food the the next three family holidays cookouts and we average 16 to 20
or paper towels
You did well.
and charcoal and the SNACKS are awsome
Good job!
it's a challenge to spend less than a few hundred $$ at costco
I agree
staples like t\riscuits, goldfish and club crackers..yum. and ziplock bags variety pack figured out to be less than 4 cents a bag!
You're a shopping genius
as long as you have room to store it, it makes sense to buy that stuff in volume. Certainly doesn't go bad.
when I lived in a tiny apt in Boston, I had room for about 2 rolls of TP and 2 rolls of PT...gets expensive!
I can imagine.
right and i have the space to store it... that way teh kids can come and "shop" here... and number 2 daughter even brings her own bags
That's very nice of you.
that s what mama s do
:)
I think Costco is a great place to shop for big families. Not so great for smaller ones though.
I never buy food in those places. There's only 2 of us.
Only two of us here too. And I have no space to store six months worth of toilet paper.
I have a big basement.
Kick the big paper packages down the stairs. lol
I used to shop Costco for office supplies, but Amazon beats their prices most of the time and it gets delivered.
Love my Amazon prime.
It's great if you're elderly or for working moms.
I would even pay higher prices at Amazon to avoid shopping at the crazy fest that is shopping at Costco.
Agree
and done! good day All
I have re8x2. help with other 8's pls
th8 and tr8. Lickety has all the 8 letter words at the top of his list.

Do a Google search on "forecast the first three finishers in a race"
That was for the tr8
tr8 used to be in my profile :)
oops it still is! gotta change that.
Old an in6?
in + not so4?
Harry, I still agree with the rest of your profile. Who the hell DOES use just one clove of garlic?
hmmm
somebody here - I can't remember who. She's allergic to too much garlic
A group of lawyers is a law fi4. Stick in in front of that.
There is like no point in using one clove of garlic. If you are allergic, just don't use it. Yeesh.
sorry - got booted off the computer by wife and child.
ty molly. nbt
I often wonder with these recipes - how you can even taste the amt of garlic they recommend
Garlic is like Scotch. You either like it or you don't. If you like it, use it in decent quantities.
hello...
Hello Pen. (We have to say hello to everyone who chimes in because some people are getting all verklempt about not being recognized when they say hello) : D
ah...well i don't take it personally.. ;o)
Yes, I know. Just joking around. How is life for you these days?
fine, here....just got home from a week in the Outer Banks...
Ah, beautiful place. Glad you got to go be by the ocean.

I need a clue on the first re6/30, please?

Someone confused babble with tinder i guess😂
th8, please?
ergo
found the th8 thanks
i can't remember which babbler enjoyed watching the annual 'lamb-cam,' but here's the link in case she pops in. i do remember it's a woman. http://www.meadopenfarm.co.uk/\nlambcam/
it's a woman? hahaha - she's a woman babbler :D
Hi welki
hey nef
How are you doing lately? I never see so many of "the usual" long time Babblers very often (well, some yes, some no. You know what I mean....)
doing well, thanks - i've been very busy with work and a recent visit from my eldest daughter and two of my grand-daughters :)
Sounds like fun! How old are the grands?
these two are 4 and almost 8
and yes, it's fun - lots of fun, but i'm pooped!
FUN!!! :-) But exhausting, too at times
while they were here, because i had their feet handy and because they could choose their own colors, i made them lots of slippers. we went to a museum, a sports hall of fame and (of all things) a trampoline park
Our son & grandson (who will be 8 in 2 weeks) are back living with us again. I get tired faster than the grandson does these days
oh dear nef - you have a heart of gold
Oh, MY!!
Not really welki. DH was quite sick for nearly 6 months; frequent urinary infections, ended up with a catheter for 4 months, fevers would set off the MS, etc; & I needed help. On his side of things; his rent went up $200/month & he's been trying to save $$$ for a downpayment on a house; so he moved in here at Christmas - and then his job fell apart at the New Years & his boss had to lay him off
oh - and the oldest one was on a quest for perfect poutine - we took her to a few places - i created a rating document for her (to enter her opinions on the ones she tried) and then i made home made - got a five out of five cheese curd rating!
then, the arrangement seems mutually beneficial, nef - glad that you get some respite and he gets some financial relief
(The boss lives in FL & had several duplexes he was renting out; there was some storm that hit his area and he'd spent more time on fixing the properties that building the little business; suddenly - no business!
(for the uninitiated, poutine cheese curds are not disgusting, even though they sound it - they're firm pieces of cheese left over from processing cheddar, usually white, mild and meltable, like mozzarella)
We's back working half time for the company; & has another half time QA Supervisor job for another small small program developer; so it's working out.
and i know you love that little boy :)
The poutine is the part that throws me off, though
(& I'm glad that you got the high grade for your food welki!
all it is is fries, cheese and gravy. it's how you proportion the fries:cheese:gravy ratio that makes or breaks it (and you have to have good gravy)
Who ever thought of gravy on fries & cheese curds though?
some hungry quebecois, i guess
How long has that been a "thing" though?
what's unique about using the curds is that they don't get all sloppy when they heat up - i take fresh, very hot fries, toss a handful of curds on top (stick the plate in the microwave for about 25 seconds to soften the curds), pour on some gravy and voiia! if you have good curds, they hold their shape and, because of the low water content in them, they squeak when you chew them - so fun for the tastebuds and music, too!
(I never heard of it when I lived Up North or was in Canada back in the 70's...
probably since the 60s
(we love the squeaks!)
Speaking of cheese curds; our state fair has had the "Original Cheese Curds" food booth in the same spot at the fair for over 40 year, the guy who started it is in his 80's; and his son wanted to take over the booth & keep it in the family. The State Fair board said No; & there's a huge uproar about that!
I would say "NO Whey" to the Curds
organize and protest!
(Maybe it was only in Quebec in the 60's & early 70's?
Hi ru; have you ever had real cheese curds?
nope
but gravy and fries sounds pretty awful to begin with
now.. gravy and biscuits are another matter
I suspect there is more to the story than that; but the Letters to the Editor" comments this week have really been up in arms about this
gravy & biscuits sound awful to me; and it's even worse with grits!
i wasn't keen on trying it, either, ru - but good poutine is like mac and cheese. comfort food
How much gravy, welki? (You said the right proportion is important)
for me, just enough so it doesn't drip and make a mess. just enough for flavor
Where are your grand daughters from, welki?
guess it's like suggesting someone try chicken fried steak - or hominy grits, or ramps, or kreplach, latkes, dim sum, bruschetta - culture, culture, culture
these two live in vermont, nef
Ahh! Okay; I have never seen it; but have pictured this molten mush of brown gravy covering everything
me too.. that's how I pictured it
i wouldn't like that either
i just looked at some images - i guess i put less gravy on than most of the photos i saw
kreplach, latkes? I've never heard of kreplach, & have never been someplace where I could try latkes
latkes are wonderful
this is what my poutine looks like http://tiny.cc/uu8pky
kreplach are like wontons, latkes are potato pancakes
welki; that tiny URL took me to your lambing site
(and i cook the potatoes in an acti-fry, so they come out crispy and crunchy on the outside (like roasted potatoes that are pre-boiled and tossed before roasting)
hahah! oops!
try this : https://tinyurl.com/ld4dptm
anyway, i'm off - g'night everyone. nice to talk with you again, nef - it's been too long
Now that looks like how I would like Ketchup on my fries...
(although I really like malt vinegar on them too.
Niters, welki! Take Care! (& hope to see you soon again)
hi all, diving in
