*hugs rose* Hello dear friend, have missed you and someone said you were not feeling well. How are you doing?
sowwy
okay, still on the improve and antibiotics for another week.
thanks Rose and hugs back to you
(((((rose))))) You take super good care, ya hear? No endangering our time together! :)
it appears i have had a low-grade urinary tract infection for quite some time which suddenly decided to go exploring in the kidneys, hence the high temp and blood
aw sweetie! Yeah, those are nasty things. Glad it popped up when it did and not a couple of weeks later.
would have been a bit of a giggle with you translating for me...
sounds painful Rose, sorry to hear
nah that would have been okay, but such a waste of our quality time.
strange flosey, no real pain this time, just an urgency and the strange "drawing in" feeling when stream finished. and the temps of over 39C.
i spent the day in bed after i came home from hospital, got up yesterday and did just a few tasks, and today, almaost back to normal
wow, wtg Rose, sounds like you take good care of yourself to bounce back so quickly
don takes good care of meself, flosey. he would have made a great nurse.
goooooood girl ;) Not too many tasks either, sweetie, for a few days... make sure the energy goes to fully recovering and not to domestic chores.
*hugs Don* Good man, Don!
I still think temps in F - even though we've been using C for quite some years!!
I know how hard it is to keep a good woman down, lol. Respect to Don.
you're very lucky Rose, hubby here does the same - I have trouble standing, bending over counter, sink, stove, etc. he does all the cooking now
deep gratitude to good men like ours
i know i am fortunate flosey, and loll... sprite. when i take to my bed you know i am sick. didn't take much to hold me there
indeed, Sprite, I know how lucky I am
same here, flosey.
phantom: patient
I know, rose. Am glad you are starting to feel better
oh, btw, Rob had another suggestion for your days here. We still have a day left to plan for. He was thinking of Medemblik, an outdoor museum.
sounds interesting...looks even more interesting.
:D
here is a video: http://tinyurl.com/n5v5bjy

psst flosey, that's what sprite said last night and i waited and waited
lol am back. Sometimes, nature calls. And sometimes, when nature calls, its conversation leaves a lot to be wished for. Both qualitatively and quantatively
wb honey
hmmm, not quite sure what it is you're waiting for Rose???
okay, I have to go, so sorry. Family constellation day. *hugs* to you both, love to your husbands, and take care of yourselves.
{{sprite}} hugs, enjoy your day. xoxox to you both
have a good day Sprite
I must get to bed, son and family fly home tomorrow, have had a great time together and dread the thought of how quiet it will seem here for a while. It's been so wonderful to have the 3 of them here for two full weeks
sweet dreams dear flosey. you sure are going to miss the hustle and bustle. xoxox
will finish this grid tomorrow, good night for now
ah, you bet, Rose, 'twill be so quiet!!
never heard of those bi5 words!
I need one more B and have the Bi 5/14 is there another Bi 5?
BI 5/14 ........(545)
Still need 63 words and struggling today.
Is that another Bi 5/14, Doris? Sorry for being annoying. Not sure what the (545) means.
yes bi 5/14..... that is how they list 545
Oh found it. It is a different spelling of the onion bread from yesterdays grid!
Thank you, Doris :-)
Good morning
((zzoozz))
Yesterday's*
Hello, ((Ruby))
I'm with you Zoom. I'm not getting the 545 thing
Hello, Molly :-) Got it it mean Bi 5, Bi 4, Bi 5
Do you know the expression "faire le la5"? It means stand somebody up, like on a date
leap
Ah, thank you Zoom. You are more awake and perceptive than I am. : D
sorry
Well it is very early in the morning where you are, Molly :-)
We just use the words stood up here, Ruby.
Be like a rabbit?
I think it's a funny expression. I'm starting to know too much Fr slang!
In that case I have that one.
Exactly 60 words for later. I can see I will be listing early. Just not seeing anything valid.
Happy babbling everyone!
bye zzoozz
Nice to see you, Molly, Ruby. And thaks for the clue, Doris :-)....((Kallia)) If you are here.

Howdy, y'all!
Hi Judi
entile
Uh, sorry, not that that's a word :)
Toss out an 8, yubi. ;-)
I should be so lucky as to have one! Y'all are way better than I am!
Yes, Scrabs, have been home for a week. Such an enjoyable vacation
Is today your first day here?
No, have been playing for a week.
Vacations are always nice.
Bichon, I am asking yubi.
When you're retired, every day is a vacation
te6 clue pls?
*wistfully wishes for vacation time*
Someday...12-13 years to go, or more. Until 70 or so.
Hi Ruru and MLFAN
Today I had to bring Marco to the vet
Is he ok?
I only get 365 days of vacation a year.
me too mixi
He had a cyst on his neck. The vet expressed it and the liquid flew all over the vet
Lucky mixi!
hi scrab
occatioally I get an extra day. lol
Yikes, bichon. Just liquid, not pus?
tymixi for the pa6
Yes, clear liquid, fortunately. Can't afford more.
Ewww.
I work 3-4 days weekly, with one night on call and one weekend on call every 5 weeks, and that is plenty stressful. So I get 3 days off every week usually to recover from the work days.
But you get to play with kids
te 6 clue pls?
number + neckwear
(I'm not new, I just don't really talk)
Bishon, my dog gets the same on her back. I put some orajel on it and stick a 16 gage needle in it and express it myself. The vet told me about it.
ty mixi
Cysts are gross. My oldest cat has had a few of them on his ears and neck (from fighting other cats in the hood).
does the eo7 come from the 4th column?
hubby want to get a cat.
The young kids are the best. I dislike adolescents. Some parents are wonderful, some are utterly awful.
yes mlf
My friend's Bassett hound has numerous cysts too.
A hypothetical chemical precursor of a living cell was the clue give before
eo + a five letter work in the grid wad an earlier clue.
that is a strange word.. ty mixi I posted the clue from sue into google and got it
take off the eo for another one mlf
ty sue
yw always
single o?
ob, more round
or kind of round
hello everyone
Hi Nan
hi nan, are you having floods?
how is the flooding in your area nan?
about the same, ru -- no where near as bad as in other parts of the country thouh
*though
good
only the low lying areas along a couple of the creeks that run through town are affected -- that and our golf course, which is named Kelowna Springs for a very good reason!
*questions the wisdom of building a golf course on top of natural springs *
Agreed, Judi.
yes -- well it was an old landfill site that was formerly a swamp
Then again, scuba golf could become a big thing.
need I add that someone from the prairies built it?
wh not - I have a husband who would snowshoe golf if there was such a thing
better to build a golf course, than houses.
true, mixi
Yes.
A friend of mine lives next to a former golf course. The owner went bankrupt. The golf course became a jungle. Lots of wildlife out there now. The only downside is that my friend keeps losing her dogs in there. Can't see them in the high weeds.
woo found an 8
That's very cool, judi. The pesticides from these golf courses can really damage the ground water quality
and the runoff
I never thought of that, Harry.
halfway!
There is a pond there too. Dogs love to go diving in. Dogs get covered in mud & goose poop, then run through the weeds. Come home covered in muck, ticks and stickums.
yeah - sometimes our first instinct is to think "better farms and golf courses than McMansions"...but given the state of conventional agriculture and lawn maintenance, it's not so clear.
no pesticides or herbicides allowed around here --- very strictly controlled because there are so many vineyards and orchards around
everything gets sprayed with lime-sulpher in early spring and that's about it
re5/16.....clue please
Anyone have a clue for the Ap8?
I wouldn't buy a house that is in a flood plain.
sound advice, mixi
nope - tried applette, but that didn't work
Ditto, Nan.
sound like to get hit over the head again lightly.
heh good clue
rhymes with Charlie Parker's musical genre
a strong craving or desire
Are these clues for the same word?
mmm - no appetite
ap8 - starts like hungry + canvas shelter
i'm lost on this one.. too obscure
Don't know who Charlie Parker is.
jazz player judi
I am still looking for re5/16, please
sax player
Ty, Mixi!
got the ap8. ty. the other clues were for re5
Yes, I have been lost with clues for a while. Too vague for me.
*looks at Judi's country western album selection*
ty mixi
Well, that would explain my lack of Charlie Parker knowledge. Avoid country music like the plague.
The Oak Ridge Boys judi .. ?? really?
Died at the age of 35.
ty for the re5 clues
listens only to classical music....
Really, mixi?
any clues for the top lone E or the lone O?
I just saw a 14 year old, violinist, his father drives him 7 hours to Juilliard, every 2 wks for violin lessons.
now that is a father
Hmmm. Wonder if they've heard of Skype.
dedication. I'd be a professional, if I had it.
well I drive my kid 8 minutes to little league practice!
That counts too, Harry.
Yes, and the kid is a passionate violinist already. He practices 3 hrs daily.
that's being a good father too harry :D
(though sometimes I make him walk...)
you sure the kid isn't stringing his father along scrab?
oooo.....
the kid must be embowed with a lot of ability :D
Well, this kid wants to attend Juilliard so I think the kid and father are paving the path.
hola Dr Scrabs! wanted to let you know we took Baby K to the pediatric pulmonologist on wednesday
hi all not getting the clue for the ap8
maybe he is bowing to parental pressure
tilappier: more fishy
Ah, I see your pun now, ruru. ;-)
Aha, and the commentary, Eva?
or fingering to be a concert performer some day
you think the kid fiddles with the radio dial on the way into the city?
VIola! Nan :D
you had it right on the nose. they did chest xrays (what an "adventure" for an infant!) and decided its infant asthma. gave is Rx'es for an oral and an inhaled steroid.
just water over the bridge!
got the ap8
wtg scrab!
a concert violinist never fiddles!!! --- fine tunes maybe
Aha, Dr Scrabbler made a long-distance diagnosis. Haha. Years of experience gave me that one.
still back at the jazzy CW sax player -- no closer to the re 5
what do you bass that on Nan?
don't do f-holes?
*waiting for the punniness to end*
remember that band Hansen? they had a one-hit mmmmm***?
(scrabs will be waiting a lOOOOONG tme)
sorry nan - that was a clue for you :)
yeah. doc thinks with the meds, he will be better by the time we go back next week. now, the fun challenge -- getting him to take the oral meds. lil guy thrashed his head around more than a heavy metal drummer when we try to give it to him!
there was a band hansen?
Yes, I am thinking about how many words you can come up with.
we prefer to forget hansen.
Sounds like giving a pill to my pup
don't have any re's for that mattre
Oral prednisolone tastes terrible. Mix it something, if you can, to mask the taste. But the inhaled steroid will kick in in 3 days so that will help.
later all. gotta get a haircut.
oh, lovely! if id known that, i would have asked the pharmacy if they had that flavored additive to make it taste a little better...
I think it was hanson wasn't it?
would it be possible to mix it into his bottle? or would that ruin it?
ooooooooh drugs! i'm taking antibiotics
Eva, if you know he would ingest ALL of it.
it may be worth a try, so long as the meds would still be as effective taken that way
Pa8?
They have pill pockets for dogs. Maybe there's a pill ookie for kids
kids don't eat ookie things bichon
alas, bichon, hes not really on solids yet!
pa 8, pl of the pa 7, colors on a board for painting
I have pa 8 and ap8. help with last 8 pls
His dose must be low, so the volume must be about 3 ml?
Ty, Bichon. *must remember to always try plural *
The problem with struggling to get kids to take meds is they don't forget.
yw Judi
yup. 3 ml
Pi8. Tiny plumbing network.
ty Judi
bbl
In older kids we advise mixing it with chocolate syrup.
crack pipes for little people judi :D
Eva, the oral steroid jumpstarts his improvement. The inhaled steroid will take effect in 3 days and then h will improve. So he will get better.
i have a little pacifier-cup thingy that is made for giving liquid meds. that works sometimes, but other times, no dice. but perhaps if i mix some formula or something in there, it might improve the flavor, but i could be more sure hes getting it all...
Can you put the meds in a nebulizer, Eva?
Down to 50 and this grid is growing tiresome.
Lunch approaching. Pondering what to go get.
I'm going to make a smoothie
not the oral one, judi
burrata with toast and spiced lentils judi
I would put it in his bottle, Eva, as long as you know he will drink all of it.
But wouldn't the taste of the meds queer the bottle
If the med is diluted in 6-8 oz of formula he may not notice.
would mixing it into a bit of fruit flavoured syrup work?
Isn't there some squeeze thing that would get it down easily
he usually takes 4-6oz, so if i know hes particularly hungry, that would be easy. (i send 4 ox bottles to day care because thats what fits in their fridge, but at home he usually gets 6oz bottles)
Try putting it in a bottle, Eva.
when our youngest was little we gave him alupent when he had an asthma attack (think it tasted like liccorice) which came in a bottle with an eyedropper.
ill try the bottle, scrabs. worst case, he waste a dose + we're no worse off than we were before.
Ah, Alupent syrup. That brings back memories from 30+ years ago.
try 45 years ago!
I recall using it in med school and residency.
may not be the greatest thing now, but it was the best at the time --- worked really quickly to get the airway open
Management of asthma has progressed so much, and is SO much better for kids, and their parents. Inhaled steroids was the gamechanger.
75 to go and I am done. Enjoy the day.
I use Advair and Montelukast and voila, no more asthma
thakns for all your help, Doc! :)
I use montelukast too bichon
it has been the best for me.
Advair is really a game changer, but, it is expensive
too much steroid for me.. I started speaking Austrian :D
are you sure it wasn't hauling wine to the CA capitol that did that?
You are welcome, Eva. I am so happy that Baby K is getting the right treatment now. He will be so much better in a wek or two.
HA nan
*week
Ru, we were in German Rhine country. Those slopes are so steep
*wine
absolutely.. among the steepest in the world for grapes
are you home now bichon?
I asked how they could harvest the grapes and they said they get people from Poland to do it.
Yes nan, unfortunately
we caravanned there in a group. Took the wrong road and were climbing practically vertically! People were coming out to watch us!!
did you enjoy Monet's gardens?
alien
sorry did it again!!
We were entrance by them and the house.
glad to hear that -- I know you were really looking forward to that part of your trip

any help with AP 8
First four latters have to do with being hungry, last four with a camping accoutrement
letters*
thnx samantha
Any time. I just wanted the chance to say "accoutrement" in public.
It's a fun word to say. Try it!
accouterment actually
Nope. Google it.
Favorite Button CITE Translate Facebook Share Twitter\n Tweet Google+ Share accouterment [u\nh-koo-ter-muh nt, -truh-] Spell Syllables Examples Word Origin See more synonyms on Thesaurus.com noun 1. personal clothing, accessories, etc. 2. the equipment, excluding weapons and clothing, of a soldier.
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/accou\ntrement
I agree with Samantha. French in origin.
the French way is accoutremente isn't it? maybe it is spelled both ways
So I guess the other is also a valid alternate spelling. We both learned something, yay! (But mine's more fun to say.)
Dictionary dot com says mine is the British spelling, and ruru's is the American
I know the French spelling.. but am unsure if the French spell it that way
wow.. found my last r.. never saw that word before
A large part of my early childhood was spent being educated with Brits, so I'm actually really good at spelling things in ways that are completely wrong in America. :/
on my brother's wedding invitations, there was the wording "We request the honour of your presence..." no one noticed the "honour" because my parents are british (and my brother had a hard time reading with dyslexia + dysgraphia) i took one look at it + said "did you intend to spell it the british way?"
Honestly I think too much is made of "correct" spelling. It just seems to be another gatekeeper to separate people.
probably true.. I tend to not care most of the time.. Jillibus used to correct my spelling all the time :D
Of course without correct spelling this game wouldn't exist.
its kinda funny -- i have a friend who is a teacher + for her, she uses proper spelling, grammar + punctuation in everything...emails, text messages, the whole nine yards...it drives her nuts to see it wrong.
for me, i was an english major + its very important to me that important, official things are correct. but personal communications...im lazy. (as you can all see here!)
me too.. I often incorrectly spell a word here
i can only imagine that folks who only know me on here must think i dont know proper grammar + punctuation!
I generally communicate the way she does, with occasional modernities for effect, but it's habit, not judgement.
when my friend mentioned that, i had to apologize to her for every text ive ever sent and would ever send. heh
lmao
I'm done. Any clues before I go? There are some strange words here.

you could've just gone out an got one to sit on your return key, and then returned it
or borrowed a neighbour's cat perhaps?
loan a pussy?

HAHA
yes, you could have grabbed a pussy, and put it on your return key
only the president can do that with abandon
Yikes!!
well you could have done it without abandon :)
lol Ru
and with better hair
lol.. that's the story of my life right now mool :D
Much better hair...
yep, grabbing pussies, without abandon and better hair :)

You must have had a busy day, never see you at this time
How are you all?
I did! Lovely day of family constellations. Just got home and had a very late dinner. And now the rest of babble. How are you and yours?
We are all very well down here.
that is very good to hear
What is news with your clever Caya?
she is doing great. Very much enjoying college life, fascinated by her study and all in all a very happy young lady.
wonderful - and Tim, settling down yet?
he is. Quit his study, again, but is now working and finding his way there, and he is not giving up when it gets hard, so that is progress. And he is a lot easier to live with nowadays too. Guess we made it :D
Thats good too
we go back quite a few years, lyn... you lived through it all with us, seeing the kids grow up.
I heard a lovely thing the other day. "Alll children are a gift, but sometimes you have to wait for the gift to be opened". The woman who said it then said "My children are in their 40s and I'm still waiting for their gifts to be revealed"
ouch. That is a long wait. I have to admit, both our children are a gift to us, most of the time.
who ever thought it gets easier as the kids get older was kidding themselves!
It can often be harder being a parent of adult children!
right now, it seems to be getting easier. But I believe you that there may be challenges ahead still.
well. I found 99 words, need to do some chores around the house. I hope to come back and finish the puzzle, it's been so long since I played last. Happy Mother's day to you (In case I don't encounter you again before then...)
hi all. any clues for 8s or 7s? ty have none yet.
