ty hursh
yay, yw!
assuming that location is in rome?
basically, kinda sorta lol
i see an el7 was called, i'd like to make that a x2 plus el8
anyone want to hear a funny story?
sure hurshy, we can always use a bit of humour
so you know how we have all these words that we see in babble but we don't take the time to learn all their meanings.
well sometimes reading a book with history or archaeology i will find one of these words and be like oh look, a babble word!
true
so today i encountered 'stele'
and then in the next paragraph it said that this same pharaoh who erected a stele on the bank of the Euphrates took back to his palace a door... which i read as rhyming with "moor" and said to myself, "ahh, i wonder what is this exotic object, a 'door'?"
and then i was like, oh wait. that's a door. i know what doors are.
lol, funny how easily we can be fooled when we're thinking along another line
yeah, i was amused at myself
i got the two o's but not the one o, does anyone have the one o?
not here yet, but looking
whoo, flew through those t's!
I'm going with "oogies" as in the plural of boogy oogy oogy
sounds good to me
jo7 x 2
genie
sorry
oh no, you let it out of the bottle, lol
remember on friends when they were making a list of all the kinds of ce6? lol
There's more than one?
no, that's what made it so funny
phoebe was doing it, and she's thinking and thinking and all she has is regular celery, and thinking and thinking and she yells, 'regular celery!' and then she's like, 'oh darn, i had that one already'
well the h's are a bit hard and i wish i could find that o, but otherwise, not a bad lil grid
Like a bargain Basement is a cellary
lol
Or is that a sellery?
both
well i should sleep, ttfn all
edit
regis philbin, gi joe, and the eiger sanction all made the grid, as did venti (as in I'll have a venti frappamoccachino)

hello!
good morning all
hello melon and good morning sprite
*hugs flosey* Good evening to you. Did you have a nice day today?
hiya melon!
yes thanks Sprite, a rather quiet day, but pleasant
quiet can be very nice indeed. Glad to hear!
daughter is coming over next week, for a few days
oh how lovely.
she hasn't been over for a few weeks, so relaly looking forward to her visit
**really
I can imagine. We don't see our daughter for weeks on end too and it is always too long :)
*adds Robin Cook's book (and movie) Co** to chj's list*
we have 2, both living in Vancouver, they're quite close (as in good friends) but also quite different in personality
it is the same with our son and daughter. They love eachother a lot and are good friends, but they couldn't be more different in almost any aspect.
ah yes, our 2 sons are the same, very different personalities but have always been close
it is a blessing when one's children get along with eachother, isn't it. And wow, so you have 4 children. A big family!
yes, we both wanted 4! and as youngsters they all played well together
amazing. You must have done quite a bit of juggling when they were all small.
the boys were the 'big brothers'
lol, they played that roll well! really watched over them through high school - the early teen years
our son is the elder too. They are less than 2 years apart though. Growing 'closer' in age every year
awww that is so sweet!
boys first, born 1963, 65, girls, 67, 68 - close and always played amazingly well together
and now, must get to bed, midnight!! 48 words for tomorrow, good night all
wow, so you really had 4 little ones at some point. Our two were very close at the beginning, then later on had some strife and grew apart some. But now they are really close and good friends. They spontaneously go visit eachother, so nice to see.
sleep well, flosey, and easily, I hope.
great to hear they grew up, so to speak! got over the sibling rivalry
tks Sprite and you have a great day
thank you :) *hug*

hello ruby - how are you feeling?
hi Dippnall
hi sprite - how are you? still 'high' from rose's visit?
Good morning, Dippnall. I'm feeling OK and very sorry for worrying everybody with yesterday's drug-cause meltdown. Very embarrassed
ties
can't chat
absolutely :) Their time here was wonderful, and so were our days in France. Beautiful to see how a friendship can develop :) How are you, and yours?
please don't be - it's always good to know that folk are concerned about you
Nomore meds on an empty stomach
we're good - thankfully the weather has cooled down - last week was a bit too much!
As long as you are OK, ruby! We're all happy to hear that!
true, the heat was rather brutal. Good to hear you are well.
Lovely rain last night
*hugs Kam* Haven't seen you in a while, hope you are well?
it's damp here, too, ruby - much fresher.
Hi Sprite!!! Doing ok, it's been 110 for days, today was only 102...cooling off enough to even open the door tonight for the first time in over a week! Yay!
glad all's well with everyone - I'm off now - will finish later (gosh - that must be my longest spell out of lurking!)
how lovely, Kam. Heat can be so oppressing. Especially combined with humidity. Like an elephant sitting on my neck, I always explain to my love.
CA has been really hard-hit.
bye Dippnall :) Have a lovely day/night.
Fires every day too, fortunately they throw everything at each one, the largest has only been 50 acres. After the Butte Fire a couple of years ago, everyone is so afraid too
those fires are scary for sure :(
Do you have AC? I have it in the bedroom, so sleep is never a problem and the garden looks like a purple-tintedjungle
No one wants another big one, that's for darn sure! My hubby lost his house and a lot of his belongings in the Butte - not enough room in my little house
Good exercise, Dippnall!
how horrible, Kam :(
We have great AC, knock wood. Neighbor had hers serviced last month and it went out last weekend.
always breaks down at the worst possible time
No cone seems to have AC here. I'm very lucky
I felt bad for her, it was stifling outside, and if I hadn't have had AC, I would have gone shopping or to the library or somewhere - my body does not tolerate heat. Neighbor is younger and healthier, plus she had to work, so her days were cool, but I don't know how she slept!
Even restaurants and the mall don't have AC
I hear ya! I don't know how you folks manage, out there in those hot weather areas.
Ruby, is France usually hot? Or is it a cooler climate? Everyone where I am has AC and the counties have opened cooling centers this past week.
I saw that flights were grounded in Phoenix, Arizona because of the heat - no lift for the smaller planes.
wow, that is saying something. It never gets that hot here, thank God.
generally, this region (southest, foothills of the Alps) is temperate without extremes. But the weather has changed in the 18+ years since we retired here, it is hotter, colder, less snow, moreinsects. Still Paradise, but with a littlesin thrown in
I think it was 123 there. I'm glad the weather is changing to cooler tonight! Clouds rolled in, who knows what will happen next, it has been a very weird weather year so far in California!
Most homes in San Francisco don't have AC because it seldom gets hot there, but they've had the heat this past week too. Not like us in the foothills though. This has been late August weather for the past week!
when it is really hot and humid here in the netherlands, it always ends with thunderstorms. And I can't be happier than when it starts, grin... I've been known to walk outside once the rains start and simply stand in the garden getting wet, cool and liberated from the air pressure.
southeast*
sounds really brutal, Kam
I'm in the lowest elevation area of the Sierra foothills, up higher is where the thunderstorms happen. We seldom get them. But we can drive for an hour and be at the crest of the Sierras, where two passes are still closed due to heavy snow melt.
must be really beautiful there, Kam
Sprite, it *has* been a brutal week! I'm so happy to have the front door open and some fresh air for a change!
am so glad for you, Kam. I hope the rest of summer will be a little kinder
It's dry and golden here, but up the hill 30 minutes, you're into the real Sierras. It is beautiful there. We are in oak woodlands, pines start about 1500 feet up from where we are.
Yes, I hope so! But we have to live with what nature deals us...I certainly don't want to see the next electric bill!! The rates doubled last year.
woodlands make me happy :) It was so wonderful to be able to show Rose and Don my favorite woods here.
ugh yeah, your electric bill must go up exponentially when you have to rely on your AC so much.
I saw that you had a great visit, and was happy to hear that you got on as well in person as you had hoped! That made me smile.
even better, Kam. And with Don as well, and Don and Rob together too. It couldn't have gone better. Rose said we really are sisters at heart, and I agree.
as soon as Rose has time, she will send some of the pics Don took and I will post them online for you all!
That's wonderful! Glad you two were able to make it happen!
I should contact you on facebook so I can see the pics. I'm in the babble group and put my name on the list in the files section.
Rose made it happen :) We were privileged to have them visit here, and I was, to be able to join them in France.
I am hardly ever on FB. Once I have the pics, I will post them on imgur, and I will put the link to the folder in my profile here. So everybody will be able to see them, if they want.
OK, that works. Looking forward to seeing them!
saying goodbye to rose and don in France was so hard! Rose said: don't you dare cry! And then later she wrote that she couldn't see the steps of the stairs herself from crying. But she also said that if possible, she and Don will come again, just to the netherlands and for a longer time, so that we can share even more time together. That helps :)
It's hard to say goodbye in person, but you know you'll always be in touch. I've met a lot of people online that I got to meet in person, and we're still in touch.
*sniffle*
Hi ru!
oh yes, that is so true. I am still close to almost all people I met in person. Friendships are precious.
*giggles* hiya ru! We mentioned you a few times, Rose and I... when some pun was spoken :P
Fireflies! I must say goodnight, or good day - I'm tired - it's after 1AM here. Take care Sprite, ruby, ru and all!
wtg Kam!!!!!!!!!!
and sleep well, and hopefully a bit cooler. *hugs*
It is MUCH cooler, AC off, windows open! Nite!
*poof*
fireflies. Lovely grid. *waves at ru* Bye all, have a blessed day and a peaceful night. And Rose, special hugs :)

you are a master, zooz
Nah just copy & paste, T Owl :-)

Oh go on Molly, you know you want to

*Imagines all the spilled tea and over tossed crumpets
Is the Am7 easy?
Well it has been in a few grids in the past.
AM + vowel + internet web ------
has the mineral suffix. si4/4
Ah! Thanks both.
still have not figured out what to bring tonight, besides cantaloupe. too hot to bake.
Where are you going and what did they ask you to bring?
perhaps rolled up salami with cheese? need finger food.
well that's the thing, i am not sure who is bringing what and if the person who started this is bringing her own food or food to share. but bringing food is always good. dancers could use melon, for sure.
it's just a mess to transport, since it would have to be cut and cubes are too unsanitary.
i am more concerned with how to bring alcohol. i am not buying their beer (outdoor concert)
https://tinyurl.com/y7tjc57g
Ideas for finger foods in warm weather.
ty zooz
Zoom is the King of Google Search. If you are transporting finger food in a cooler, sliced cheeses and crackers (brought outside the cooler) works. Or vegetables and a dip.
Okay time for me to and listen to some music. Happy babbling everyone!
Go.
i have tons of cheese bricks. we got packages from Cabot as a volunteer thanks you.
bye zooz ty
LOL one of the choices is cajun baby cheeseburgers - how apropos!
Oh, my mistake. I didn't know this was an event where you could cook meat. Have a good time, whatever you bring.
it's not. just saying how apropos it would be. there is a big pot luck dance pool party next month, and i found several nice things at that link
i tend to save my cooking efforts for smaller gatherings where i actually KNOW most of the folks. and when I don't know folks, i don't eat their home made things either.
i think i will being tabbouleh. from bj's/
as well as melon slices.
and a container of sangria in the trunk. done!
I once went to a garden potluck and made potato tabouli. I asked the guy at the supermarket where the tabouli was, and he asked his supervisor "this guy is looking for kablooey"
hahahaha
another thing i like to make is italian potato salad. oil and vinegar dressing, no mayo.
ooh - I used to make that! delicious!
it's a hassle though - I haven't made it in years
yes. and this from a salad hater. and a hater of things that should be hot served cold.
and I don't think my kids would eat it.
i thought o f it when i realized i liked german potato salad but did not want all the sugar.
this conversation is making me hungry - I haven't had proper food all day.

Not sure I understand that, but okay
hagd
tcm had a behind the scenes look at teahouse of the august moon. it somehow made the sh5/22 jump out at me.
this game is so subliminal at times. it amazes me.
Not sure what the Japanese word has to do with your program, but again, okay.
lots of stuff here i don't understand at times. mostly i don't care, though.
see you later!
Hi everyone. Troubled day, here Chez Soodle. Youngest daughter (& owner of Dora the cat) currently in the US. Dora came home limping today. Son of Soodle currently home from UK. The injured Dora piddled in Son of Soodles suitcase. Pandemonium ensued. Sigh.
Well, cat pee in my suitcase would kind of "piss me off" too.
Frantic washing, drying & repacking of sullied suitcase did little to mitigate the rage.
Does his suitcase look like the litter box? Or is the cat just allowed to pee wherever she pleases?
I agree, Molly. The smell is ghastly. (Dora is a male cat - named before gender was established). He goes in and out at will. No litter boxes (hateful things) required.
In anticipation of my forthcoming holiday, I've been putting a few bits and pieces into my own suitcase. I would have gone ballistic if Dora had chosen that one in which to piddle!
Anyway - sorry to have hogged the chog with my cat-pee lamentations. Please continue to chat amongst yourselves :-)
Amosite
Oh I'm so sorry. Apologies. No more chatting.
You are going on vacation? Good for you. You had posted previously that you were facing foreclosure on your house. I guess that is all cleared up. I don't keep up with chat news much. Good for you.
Foreclosure us not a word used here in Ireland, Molly. I think the equivalent is 'repossession'. And yes, that threat still hangs over me(thank

(Thank you for remembering). My daughter Sarah has booked and paid for a holiday for myself & herself to go to Marakesh, Morocco.
The holiday has cost Sarah £800. A drop in theo
ocean compared to my overall debts. My kids think it is an investment that their Mam gets a break from all the hassle. Too bad if this offends you, Molly.
Oh I wasn't offended. Just glad to hear you are going on a nice vacation. Good for you.
Yes. It's a vindication of the hard times and struggles that we as a fanily have endured. If it was
Wasn't for cat-pee, I'd say it was a happy day.
clue for the re 6/24 please
Nancy, re + male
ty mar, got it
hello all. help with O in 4th column pls and the lowest E pls
which E?
2nd column pls
ey 4/6...
ty pen
I hope a cat doesn't piss on my vacationðŸˆ
I have heard litter boxes do work well
peri....the o is oo 8/50...
If a cat pisses in a suitcase, it's not about the presence or absence of a litterbox. *Especially* when that cat has been using the same system for years without a problem.
Are you saying the cat has some kind of baggage?
ty pen, looking\
So it means the cat would rather piss in the suitcase of the one traveling instead of it's same system?
let me know if you want a clue...
my friend's cat pees on her music stuff (sheet music, recorder case) when she is mad at her owner...
I found it pen, ty
yw...
That pee must be duly noted
Cats pee on things when they are made at people? This is why I have no use for cats.
Does it pee to scale?
*Mad
i think they also do it to get the owner's attention....or to stake their territory...
Again, I have no use for an animal that pees to get attention.
i don't have a pet...
Ask Donald Trump molly
Oh, here we go
Lol
I don't have pets either Pen. Three kids were enough for me. And none of them peed on things to stake our their territory. Thank God.
i grew up with pets, but now i don't want to be tied down by pets...
I am ok with being tied down sometimes 😂
Pets are as big of a responsibility as kids are. You need to get a babysitter when you are away, you need to manage money for their health care, and they are needy.
I am on my last pet
I thought you were getting another dog.
I decided not to
I may be a foster home for some. But Dylan is my last dog
I wouldn't want a pet to outlive me and have to be placed
Like I said earlier, I am not up to date with all the Babble news.
I just decided that recently. It isn't current babble news
You are not that old ruru.
It isn't the age bugs. It is the mileage ðŸ˜
Good afternoon. I have to agree with Bugs, ruru. You're not old enough to worry about an animal outliving you (unless your milage is Really abnormal. ;-)
Old enough
old enough to plan for your death, just not old enough to expect it imminently
I believe we've talked (in the past) about ages; & I'm older than you. I really would like another dog; but DH is totally against having another one because he says they are always underfoot (for him)
People i know younger than me are drooping dead. It is depressing
Dropping that is
but not typical.
Because he can trip on anything; for now we aren't getting another dog. We still have his Aunt's cat, Ashes is around 14 - 18 years old; she stays out of his way in spite of being a cat.
True, ruru, but do they take care of their health? (I don't know if you do, but I'm thinking that because you have a pool, you may be getting more exercise than many people do
i am done...
YAY, penquis!!! WTG!!!
that's what I think, Nef.
ty...
I take care of myself. I am in decent shape. I lost 18 pounds so i feel much better
Good For you, ru!!
I seem to be stuck there though
how much more do you think you need to lose?
Another 20-30 would be great
I am doing a three mile hike on my vacation so shedding some weight will help
when a person is trying to lose weight, they hit "plateaus" where they seem to be stuck even though they continue their weightless diet & exercise regime. That is when the body is adjusting to the new weight (& when most people give up because they lose motivation)
Oh i am motivated still
I am so careful about what i eat and still it is so hard to keep losing
(I'm very guilty of giving up when I plateau; then a year later, I end up back where I started again. I bet I've lost the same 15- 20 lbs about 5 times over the past 8 years. :-(
I have kept it off. So i am happy about that
me too Nef only now it just keeps hanging on
be glad, ru. just don't give up. it will happen.
I know, Bugs. It gets more frustrating as the years go by.
Yep. The metabolism really changes
LOL! Both the metabolism AND the motivation....
I would rather play Babble
Ha. I would rather be dating
can't help there
Yeah.
but I will bet that the pounds drop more easily when you are distracted by love
:-) Me too. I've had enough arthritis & artificial parts (moving parts, ru, jo5's); that things hurt if I overdo
You really don't use up enough calories having sex bugs ðŸ˜
too bad. it is a fun myth then
True
Unless you are sleeping with Jenny Craig i guess :D
there's a thought. she has a good income and could be your dream date
for a lot of people, when they are in the beginning stages of "love" or infatuation, they don't think of food as much & often lose weight then.
that is what I was thinking Nef but ruru took it to another place. men. . .
Hey hey
LOL! (Did you expect any lees from him, Bugs?)
I do try to think with my brain
could be a new pass time on Babble though, ruru. People could try to set you up
Oh god. Not that again
LOL! You won't have to worry that *I* would do that ru; I don't know any single women in your part of the country.
you mean it has been tried before? How did that go
Not well
I am not sure that it ever does but I met Mr Bugs through mutual friends. They just weren't trying to set us up so it worked.
I think that that's the key, Bugs. Mutual friends who aren't trying to set someone up works best. Just let people meet each other & butt out.
Got to go shopping. You two take care
bye ru; take care & stay motivated!
I'm really having a tough time seeing even half of the words in this grid today.
I am not enjoying this much either Nef. Think I will wander off for a bit
have a great day everyone, including lurkers!
